☕🍟🍦🍕 for Phillip and Jean
SIMS HEADCANON QUESTIONS → Receiving
Hello, Sarah! Thank you for this ask. Coming through with the food-related asks.
☕ | Favourite Drink
Phillip loves a good Scotch. He realized that when he's not drinking to get drunk, alcohol can be quite relaxing. Sometimes he'll sit out on the patio at twilight. Between the scotch and the cigarettes, you have what amounts to a very unhealthy dinner, but it's relaxing for him. He feels all mellowed out and fuzzy inside.
Jean loves her girly drinks. She's always making homemade cocktails that have names like Strawberry Lemonade Vodka Slush or Bailey’s Chocolate Martini, alcohol that looks and tastes more like candy. And then she wonders why she's always getting shitfaced, meanwhile she's making drinks that she can drink like juice without considering the alcohol content.
🍟 | Snack
He will eat croutons dry and will pick them out of a salad if he spots them. He loves the texture of croutons, but never actually in them with salad.
Jean really likes strawberry-flavoured candy and desserts. Especially strawberry Pocky and anything that's a cream and strawberry combo. She also likes strawberry milk, she makes it herself with tonnes of sugar and strawberry syrup.
🍦| Ice-cream Flavour
Just vanilla. He's not too big an ice cream guy.
Jean likes strawberry ice cream of course, but also her favourite ice cream parlour has this butter toffee crunch flavour that is heavenly.
🍕 | Pizza Topping
He is a slut for a meat-lovers pizza, which he's only had a few times growing up. As a child, his mother never ordered fast food, everything the royal children had was home-cooked meals from private chefs. The food was delicious but the result was Phillip only ate pizza once or twice each year at a birthday party or event. So, of course, once he was enlisted at Scarborough he had no restraint and ate meat-lovers pizza every weekend. A full greasy pizza with grilled chicken, bacon crumble, beef, and pepperoni, every Saturday night with no shame.
Jean like her pizza plain and simple. Just pepperoni. She does dunk her pizza in ranch dressing (or creamy garlic if she's feeling daring). Phillip finds this disgusting, and she can never eat it properly, the dressing is always dripping down her chin and back onto her plate.

10, 12, 14?
10. favorite milkshake flavor?
I think strawberry for sure! The fruity taste and the creamy texture is a heavenly combo 😊
12. favorite flowers?
Forget-me-nots. They are small and cute and come in beautiful shades of blue and purple and pink and white.
14. favorite candle scent?
The first thing that came to mind was Vanilla Sugar, but those candles can be kinda hit or miss tbh. So I probably prefer something more like... Pine. Something you light around Christmas time.

how to make chinese dessert pastry
<p>From fortune cookies to fried milk to bubble tea, Chinese desserts bring so many unique and interesting flavors.</p> <p>Dim sum, pork buns, and noodles are some of the dishes Chinese cuisine is known for. But other than fortune cookies, you really don’t hear much about the desserts!</p> <figure><img src="https://insanelygoodrecipes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Fortune-Cookies-with-Candy-Sprinkles.png" alt="Fortune Cookies with Candy Sprinkles" /></figure> <p>The Chinese mostly prefer to end their meal with something light and simple, such as a piece of fruit or a slice of jelly. </p> <p>But did you know that the colorful cuisine also has a variety of sweet offerings? </p> <p>Using ingredients such as mung beans and five-spice, Chinese desserts have such fascinating flavors that are sure to intrigue your palate. </p> <p>Today, come and join me as I explore the delectable desserts that China has to offer!</p> <h2><strong>1.</strong><strong>Almond Jelly</strong></h2> <p>Almond jelly is one of the simplest and most popular Chinese desserts. </p> <p>Made with almond-flavored gelatin and fruit salad swimming in a sweet syrup, it’s a light treat to cleanse the palate.</p> <p>Almond jelly is a breeze to make and only calls for combining milk, ground almonds, water, and gelatin or agar. </p> <p>It is then sliced into its signature diamond shape and served with fruit salad from a can.</p> <h2><strong>2.</strong><strong>Egg Tarts</strong><strong> </strong></h2> <p>Smooth and creamy egg custard is nestled in a flaky and buttery puff pastry. These bite-sized treats are sinfully delightful. </p> <p>I remember visiting Macau a few years ago and snacking on egg tarts as I walked along its cobblestone streets. </p> <p>You’re not supposed to eat them in bulk, but I couldn’t help it. They were just so addictive! </p> <p>Fortunately, egg tarts are very easy to make and only take 15 minutes of prep time. </p> <p>With this recipe, I can relive my Macau memorable experience in the comfort of my home. Yay!</p> <h2><strong>3.</strong><strong>Soy Milk Pudding</strong></h2> <p>Soy milk pudding is an incredibly soft and silky pudding made with soy milk and soy bean flour. </p> <p>Gelatin or agar is added to get that lovely velvety consistency. </p> <p>Served straight out of the fridge, it is a cool and refreshing treat, perfect for the summer. </p> <h2><strong>4.</strong><strong>Pineapple Tarts</strong><strong> </strong></h2> <p>Sweet and tangy pineapple filling gets nestled in a soft and flaky puff pastry. These pineapple tarts are a tropical masterpiece!</p> <p>The combination of refreshing pineapple jam and melt-in-your-mouth crust is to die for! No wonder they are reserved for holidays and special occasions.</p> <h2><strong>5.</strong><strong>Red Bean Cakes</strong></h2> <p>Red bean cakes are originally from Japan, but over the centuries, they haves made their way through Taiwan. </p> <p>Also called as car wheel cakes, they are round and stuffed with a sweet red bean paste filling. </p> <p>They’re mildly crisp on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. These cakes create a beautiful harmony in your mouth.</p> <p>Apart from red bean paste, these cakes can also be stuffed with pudding or savory fillings. </p> <h2><strong>6.</strong><strong>Chinese Fried Dough</strong></h2> <p>Chinese fried dough, crullers, or youtiao, is not just a popular dessert, but a breakfast dish as well. This bread is soft, chewy, and downright delicious. </p> <p>Interestingly, this treat is called “yàuhjagwái” in Cantonese, which literally means “oil-fried-devil.” </p> <p>These guys may be deep-fried in oil, alright, but they are far from being bad. In fact, they’re so good, they’re heavenly.</p> <h2><strong>7.</strong><strong>Chinese Sweet Potato Ginger Dessert Soup</strong><strong> </strong></h2> <p>This sweet soup is the perfect way to warm you up on a cold day. </p> <p>Chinese dessert soup is a traditional dish loaded with sweet potatoes, dates, and flavored with sugar and ginger. </p> <p>The sweet potato and dates provide wonderful textures, while the combo of sugar and ginger gives it such a yummy flavor. </p> <p>Plus, this soup is also easy to prepare. All it takes is to toss the ingredients in a pot and mix!</p> <h2><strong>8.</strong><strong>Bubble Tea</strong></h2> <p>More commonly known here in the States as boba, bubble tea or milk tea is a sweet refreshing beverage that originated from Taiwan back in the 80s.</p> <p>It’s a cold concoction made with milk and tea, and loaded with soft and chewy tapioca balls called pearls. </p> <p>Mildly sweet and creamy, boba is the perfect way to cool you down on a hot summer day. </p> <p>Today, it comes in many varieties such as honeydew, matcha, and strawberry. My favorite is taro. What’s yours?</p> <h2><strong>9.</strong><strong>Fried Milk</strong><strong> </strong></h2> <p>Fried milk is a rich and creamy snack that I can eat all day. Sure, it’s fattening, but also, who cares? It’s so good, it’s worth the calories!</p> <p>Wondering how on earth it’s possible to fry milk? The trick is to thicken milk with cornstarch and let it firm up in the fridge. </p> <p>Once solid, it is sliced into strips, dipped in bread crumbs, and fried until golden. I have a strong feeling this is going to be your new favorite snack.</p> <h2><strong>10.</strong><strong>Almond Cookies</strong></h2> <p>Sure, chocolate chip cookies will always take the number one spot in the world’s best cookies, but it’s also nice to explore new flavors from time to time. </p> <p>If you’re looking for more unique and interesting flavors, how about some almond cookies?</p> <p>They’re crisp on the edges, crumbly in the middle, and sweet and buttery all around. </p> <p>These almond cookies will be your next obsession. Try them with a hot cup of coffee and trust me, it will be love at first bite.</p> <p>They’re also a snap to make. It’s just a matter of mixing the ingredients together and baking them for 15 minutes. </p> <h2><strong>11.</strong><strong>Chocolate Chinese Five-Spice Cake</strong><strong> </strong></h2> <p>Clove, fennel, cinnamon, star anise, and pepper are five spices that are usually seen in savory dishes. </p> <p>In this next entry, you’ll use them to make a chocolate cake.</p> <p>This unique cake is sweet and moist with a little hint of warmth and spice. </p> <p>The heat from the pepper adds such a slight zing that will make you want to take another bite. </p> <p>It’s perfect for people who find chocolate cake to be way too rich. </p> <p>The spices give the chocolate an earthy contrast and balance out the flavors really well. </p> <h2><strong>12.</strong><strong> Eight-Treasure Rice Pudding</strong></h2> <p>Eight-treasure rice pudding is a dessert made with sweetened sticky rice. It’s a lot like a mango sticky rice, minus the mango. </p> <p>It’s sweet, sticky, chewy, and super delightful.</p> <p>This version of the traditional dessert stuffs the sticky rice with a sweet red bean paste and is garnished with various dried fruits and seeds. </p> <p>To top it off, it is drizzled with a fragrant chrysanthemum syrup that makes it smell heavenly.</p> <p>Wondering why it’s called eight treasures? “8” refers to the number of toppings added to the dish. Very precious, indeed.</p> <h2><strong>13.</strong><strong>Fried Bananas</strong><strong> </strong></h2> <p>Deep-fried bananas smothered with maple syrup and dusted with powdered sugar is a quick and easy dessert that sure hits the spot. </p> <p>Let’s be honest, nothing beats the goodness of deep-fried anything.</p> <p>Ripe bananas are already sweet, but coating them in batter and frying them enhances their flavor even more. </p> <p>The maple syrup adds a thick and sticky contrast that makes them even more addictive. </p> <h2><strong>14.</strong><strong>Chinese Sesame Cookies</strong></h2> <p>Similar in texture to almond cookies, sesame cookies are a crisp and crumbly snack made with lard. </p> <p>Flavored with nutrient-packed sesame seeds, these cookies are high in flavor and low in calories. </p> <p>That’s what I call the perfect combination!</p> <h2><strong>15.</strong><strong>Snowflake Cake</strong></h2> <p>Snowflake cake is an incredibly soft and irresistible cake made with potato starch, gelatin, coconut powder, milk, cream, and raspberries. </p> <p>Other fruits, such as blueberries, strawberries, and mango can be used in place of raspberries.</p> <p>This drool-worthy dessert is named such not after its appearance, but after the cooling effect it gives anyone who devours it. </p> <p>Served cold, it’s a fantastic way to cool you down on a hot summer day.</p> <h2><strong>16.</strong><strong>Sachima</strong></h2> <p>Sachima is a sweet and crisp snack made with egg noodles and sticky syrup. It seems such an unlikely combination, but it works!</p> <p>Deep-frying transforms the noodles into crisp treats anyone would love to snack on. </p> <p>Clumping them together is a sweet syrup that can be flavored with different extracts.</p> <p>Sure, it requires some effort, but once you’ve learned the ropes, you’ll find that the whole process is actually simple! </p> <p>Make it once and I’m sure you’ll be making it all the time.</p> <h2><strong>17.</strong><strong>Chinese Walnut Cookies</strong></h2> <p>Crisp, crumbly, and bursting with walnuts, these cookies will bring you eternal bliss.</p> <p>Unlike most cookies, walnut cookies aren’t that sweet. So don’t be surprised if you find yourself popping them in your mouth one after another! </p> <p>Fortunately, they don’t contain as many calories as other cookies, so go right ahead.</p> <p>Apart from the flavor, these cookies also smell amazing. Walnuts give off such an appetizing aroma, making them impossible to resist.</p> <h2><strong>18.</strong><strong>Sesame Seed Balls</strong></h2> <p>Sesame seed balls are soft and chewy round snacks filled with sweet sesame filling. </p> <p>The balls are made with rice flour, which is what gives them that sticky, gelatinous texture. </p> <p>They are completely covered with sesame seeds for that added crunch and to avoid them from sticking to your hands.</p> <p>Apart from sesame seed, other popular fillings include red bean paste and peanut paste. </p> <h2><strong>19.</strong><strong>Mung Bean Cake</strong></h2> <p>Mung bean cake, called “dvougao,” is a classic Chinese dessert eaten during the summer. </p> <p>It’s made with - as you may have guessed - mung beans and is filled with a sweet paste. The cake gets its stunning shape from mooncake molds. </p> <p>This ancient dessert is eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival, along with rice wine and salted duck eggs. </p> <p>This tradition is said to prevent diseases caused by the summer heat.</p> <h2><strong>20.</strong><strong>Chinese Egg Cake</strong></h2> <p>Egg cake is another popular Chinese cake that’s steamed instead of baked. Also called mini-sponge cake, it’s super soft, fluffy, and rich.</p> <p>If you’re looking for an easy recipe, this is it right here. </p> <p>It calls from basic pantry ingredients - eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, oil, and salt. It also comes together in just under an hour!</p> <p>But don’t be fooled by its simplicity, because this cake will absolutely knock your socks off.</p> <h2><strong>21.</strong><strong>Pineapple Buns</strong></h2> <p>Super soft rolls are filled with a crisp topping. Don’t be misled by its name, though, because they do not contain any pineapple at all.</p> <p>Pineapple or polo buns are named after their appearance. </p> <p>It may need a bit of imagination, but if you look closely, the lined edges make them look like pineapples. </p> <p>The bread is ultra soft and tender, and the cracked surface adds a crisp and crumbly contrast.</p> <h2><strong>22.</strong><strong>Fa Gao</strong></h2> <p>Fa gao, or fortune cake, is a dense and gummy-ish cake usually served during Chinese New Year.</p> <p> Also known as prosperity cake and lucky cake, fa gao is eaten to bring prosperity in the year ahead.</p> <p>Just like the Chinese egg cake, fa gao is steamed, not baked. Mini-sized cakes are cooked at high heat, causing the surface to crack into four segments.</p> <p>The resulting appearance is said to look like a smile, although if I’m being honest, it doesn’t look like one at all! I still think it looks awesome, though.</p> <h2><strong>23.</strong><strong>Red Bean Popsicles</strong></h2> <p>Red bean popsicles are mildly sweet and ultra-satisfying. They’re the perfect summer treat!</p> <p>Adding red beans to popsicles might sound odd, but it’s actually very common in China and other Asian countries. </p> <p>I love the chewy and chunky texture they add to the smooth popsicle.</p> <h2><strong>24.</strong><strong>Mango Pudding</strong></h2> <p>Mango pudding is a thick and creamy mousse-like treat flavored with sweet ripe mangoes. That golden sunshine hue is gorgeous, to boot!</p> <p>I love how this pudding is not overwhelmingly sweet. It’s perfectly light and refreshing, which is exactly what you’ll crave after a heavy meal. </p> <p>Plus, you can’t go wrong with the combination of cream and mangoes. </p> <p>These two ingredients complement each other beautifully, yielding one spectacular dessert.</p> <h2><strong>25.</strong><strong>Fortune Cookies</strong></h2> <p>Last but not least, we have what is perhaps the most iconic Chinese dessert there is: fortune cookies! </p> <p>Popular for their hidden prophetic messages, these cookies don’t just offer flavor, but an exciting experience as well.</p> <p>Sure, they require a bit of effort, but just imagine how much fun it is for family and friends!</p> <figure><img src="https://ift.tt/3AnSPqx" alt="Chinese Desserts" /></figure> source https://familycuisine.net/how-to-make-chinese-dessert-pastry/

Mini Pavlovas with Strawberries and Vanilla Whipped Cream
It’s Friday! And it’s April! And its Spring! And there are holidays and vaccines…and pavlovas!! Specifically, these Mini Pavlovas with Strawberries and Vanilla Whipped Cream! So, so much to celebrate!!
If you’ve never had pavlova before, you are going to adore this perfect dinner party dessert and if you’re a already a pavlova-lover, you, like me, are kicking yourself and wondering why you don’t make this light, airy, fruity dessert more often?!!
There are many stories about the origins of pavlova (usually it’s attributed to a ballerina or Australia or something like that—I’ll spare you the details since you can go ahead and google it if you like) but what I will tell you about this very classic dessert is that it consists of a meringue shell which gets filled with whipped cream, sometimes also a fruit curd and then topped with a variety of fresh fruit. Major yum!!
Oh, and It’s a WOW factor dessert too—people will literally ooh and aah when you bring it out to the table…until you cut into it, at which point the whole thing falls apart but nobody cares because it all tastes so heavenly and everyone is busy stuffing their mouths with spoonful after spoonful of it!
Today we’re making little individual pavlovas, which are fun and maybe a smarter serve given the spread of germs these days. Anyhoo, the meringue shells are truly easy to make as long as you follow these 3 simple rules:
1) Beat the egg whites until they are really stiff.
2) Cook the meringues low and slow and let them entirely dry out in the oven.
3) Try not to make them on a rainy or really humid day or you run the risk of unwanted sogginess.
You can pipe the meringue onto the baking sheets to get really neat circles, or like me, you can simply just spoon them out, for a more freeform, rustic, craggy look.
And you can then bake them as is or decorate the edges with some chopped nuts (I used pistachios) for added color, crunch and flavor.
Once the meringues have baked and entirely cooled, you simply fill them with an easy-to-make homemade vanilla whipped cream
And scatter sliced strawberries atop that.
So pretty!
And so right for now! Light and crisp meringue, pillowy vanilla whipped cream and sweet strawberries—how can you go wrong?!!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend my friends and I’ll be back next week with more seasonal food and fun!xoxo
Mini Pavlovas with Strawberries and Vanilla Whipped Cream
Makes 12 servings
Prep Time for meringues: 35 minutes; Bake Time: 2 and ½ hours, plus several hours cooling in oven; Prep Time for berries and whipped cream: 10-15 minutes
Ingredients
For the meringues
1 ¼ cups sugar
6 large egg whites
Pinch of cream of tartar
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise or 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
½ cup finely chopped pistachios, for decorating (optional)
For the pavlovas
2 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced (you could definitely sub in raspberries, blueberries or any combo of berries you prefer)
1 ¼ cups heavy cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
The Recipe
1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Place the sugar in a shallow baking dish, like a pie plate or pyrex dish and bake for 8 minutes. Meanwhile place the egg whites in the bowl of the electric mixer with the whisk attachment. When the timer rings for the 8 minutes, set the timer for 2 more minutes for sugar and beat the egg whites with the cream of tartar until foamy. It’s fine if you only have a handheld mixer—you’ll just have to beat for a little longer later on in the process.
2. Remove the sugar from the oven and turn the temperature down to 200ºF. With the mixer still running, slowly pour (or spoon) the sugar into the eggs, eventually adding the salt. Now turn the mixer on to high speed and beat until stiff peaks form and the sides of the bowl are barely warm when you touch them. This will definitely take at least 8-10 minutes and longer for a handheld mixer. Add in the vanilla bean seeds or extract and beat just to mix.
3. Line two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper and scoop out 12 equalish-sized meringue mounds, dividing between the two sheets. Use the back of spoon to make a little well in the center of each mound, so that the rounds are about 3-inches across. If you are using the pistachios, decorate the edges of the well with them to create a border.
4. Bake the sheets for about 2 ½ hours, reversing the sheets from top to bottom and back to front after about an hour to help them cook evenly. Meringues are done when they feel dry and firm to the touch. Turn off the oven and use a wooden spoon to prop open the oven door. Let the meringues cool completely in the oven. This will take at least a couple of hours. You can definitely make these 1 day ahead and store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
5. Right before you’re ready to serve them, whip the heavy cream with the sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Spoon a generous amount of whipped cream into the mounds of each meringue and top with the sliced strawberries. Serve immediately.
6. Leftover unfilled meringue shells can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for at least 1 week and filled as needed.
Enjoy!

BOY OHHHHHHHHH BOY. What. A. Day. I can already say that I probably ate the same amount of fat this day that I usually consume within a week’s span at college. See, that’s the benefit of living in college–you’re forced to stick to the healthy basic staples, you walk everywhere, you live on a budget, and you pretty much are on top of your game because you’re restricted from all the crazy vegan junk food options! Well, let me iterate that every bite was absolutely worth it!
If you have never heard of this event, the Vegan Street Fair is basically a hugely food-filled and outdoor walk loaded with vendors of all kinds of vegan restaurant chains, vegan brands, influencers, companies, online foods, and food trucks! There are three each year–one in North Hollywood during the spring, one in New York during the summer, and a night fair in North Hollywood during the fall! This year, I attended the fair on March 25th, and I had the time of my life. I cannot wait to be sharing my fully loaded recap of this crazy day with all of you, so let’s get started!
First off, I had to stop by Vegetaryn’s booth to greet Taryn herself, Jasmine of sweetsimplevegan, and Amanda from applesandamandas! They’re all such sweethearts who have inspired me to hop on this vegan journey myself! (P.S. check out Vegetaryn’s site where I got my If Looks Could Kale shirt from a few posts ago!!)
Next up, Yvonne’s Vegan Kitchen! I encountered Yvonne’s blog The Eclectic Kitchen a long time ago in my Instagram journey, and her culinary skills are absolutely phenomenal. She has the most beautiful feed, cookbook, and slew of recipes that will make you HUNGRY and put any Food Network recipe to shame. I ended up buying a chocolate chai cookie that was completely gluten free and made from garbanzo bean flour!
Okay, I contemplated posting about this next dish because looks are deceiving. Now I thought that vegan chicken tikka masala sounded delicious, so I waited a good ten minutes in the line of the Pooja’s Cuisine of India booth to purchase a combo of vegan chicken tikka masala, saag curry, rice and garlic naan. Probably the WORST curry I’ve ever tasted. The saag was salty, nothing like authentic Indian saag, and the tikka masala sauce was watery, bland, and I got five teeeeeeeeny tiny chicken pieces. So yeah, 3 out of 10.

Anyhow, by that time, I ran into a couple of my vegan Instagram friends, one of them being at the Yoga-Urt booth! While we waited for our soft serve, I hopped across to Cruciferous L.A.’s booth and got a General Tso’s Brussel sprouts sampler of battered Brussel sprouts with the most delicious sauce, chiles, and raw cabbage underneath! Definitely made up for the horror of the Indian food combination that I had earlier, and most certainly prompted me to find a General Tso’s bottle next time I go grocery shopping!

While waiting in line at Yoga-Urt, my friend Cory and I also encountered of the VeganFatKid! If you don’t know who he is, he’s basically the king of vegan restaurant hopping! I swear, you’ll be inspired to visit all of the best vegan places in L.A. thanks to his feed! I was a little too shy to ask for a picture, but being the sweetheart he is, Cory asked him for me, so we all got to take a photo together! After sampling a couple flavors, we ordered our soft serve in mini cups! Cory got the salted caramel serve and I chose the golden milk rose flavor made with turmeric! Swear to the vegan ice cream gods, this was HEAVENLY. No, BOTH WERE!
I quickly stopped by AFC Soy Foods to taste some mini fried tofu poppers and chose to garnish chipotle barbecue sauce as well. So I absolutely LOVE tofu–heck it’s one of my top three favorite foods–but it’s easy to mess up. Luckily, I adored every single bite of these tofu poppers with the crunchiness on the outside, the softness of the tofu flesh, and the sweet n’ salty and spicy barbecue sauce created the perfect medley of texture and flavors! This was probably one of my favorite samplers yet!
Next was a pit stop of a bakery I’ve never heard of until I actually saw people with these cute little dessert kabobs of gorgeous mini cupcakes stacked on top of one another. I asked a few girls where I could find them, and they pointed to Baby Love Sweetery! I ended up picking a three-cupcake kabob with a unicorn dreams cupcake, a GF churros n’ creme cake, and a GF chocolate salted caramel cake! All three cakes were to die for each in their own way, so it was so hard to pick a favorite! The GF cupcakes were gummier in texture and the unicorn dreams cake was soft and bready like any other perfect cupcake. Delicious! I ended up reuniting with my Instagram friend Cindy who came to join us in the food-ventures! How incredible is that?!

Three words to describe the next stop: Sweet. Fried. Deliciousness. If you live somewhere with a Donut Friend, then you know what I mean. Cindy got the Strawberry Lab donut filled with strawberries and whipped cream, Cory ordered the mini Compassion Fruit donut, and I picked the Cinnamineral donut! All of these donuts were incredible, but the Cinnamineral has such a quality taste that reminded me of my favorite breakfasts. Guess you could say that I was unfairly biased. Regardless, it was one of the best unhealthy donuts I’ve had in such a long time–sometimes the real deal just blows everything away!
As a detox from those dangerously delicious donuts, we stopped by Ab Sorbets because we were too intrigued by everyone else’s sorbets that we’re served in lemon and orange peels! Cory got the guava sorbet, Cindy picked the peach sorbet, and I decided on the strawberry flavor! Usually I’m more of a dessert-flavor person, but I was absolutely blown away by how creamy, soft, naturally sweet and delectable this was! By far this was one of my favorite treats of the entire trip!
The second to last stop was Treats by B, a vegan bakery that had a spinning wheel with different options to possibly get! I ended up getting the free mystery prize, which was a mini banana bread loaf with walnuts in the cutest bag! The loaf itself was perfectly mild, sweet, crunchy from the walnuts, soft, and aromatic from the bananas! I could resist sharing a couple of pieces with Cindy and Cory, and they seriously loved it as well! I’m certainly finding a way to recreate this recipe back at home!
Finally, I quickly peeked at the Orgain vendor to try out their chocolate nutritional protein shake because I was incredibly parched! Of course, it didn’t disappoint. The shake’s silky and rich texture resembled that of chocolate milk–it was divine! The extra protein was an added benefit as well!
While walking back to where my dad would pick me up, we spotted two somewhat familiar faces from YouTube: Anji and Ryan from HappyHealthyVegan! While I am not subscribed to them, I have seen them in others’ videos, and Cory and Cindy were both fans and friends with them.We ended up taking some cool photos and had an amazing encounter. The couple is so sweet!
To wrap things up, I honestly felt so liberated and open to everything. I said hi to everyone with a friendly face and ate whatever the heck I wanted. Years ago, whenever I’d walk into a convention, I wouldn’t pass on anything that seemed appealing, but I did have an estimate of calories looming in my head to make sure I didn’t “overdo” anything. However, with these kinds of events, it’s a bit of a burden to have to think about the numbers that go into your mouth.
As long as you’re listening to your body–which I absolutely did–then that’s all that matters. Sure, I had a shizzle ton of fat and sugar, but I also healed myself mentally because I said yes to almost everything that I’d avoid in the past. Come on. Nobody would pass on that cupcake kabob anyways.
Vegan Street Fair 2017 BOY OHHHHHHHHH BOY. What. A. Day. I can already say that I probably ate the same amount of fat this day that I usually consume within a week's span at college.

Hershey’s Cheesecake Brownies
This delicious Hershey’s chocolate cheesecake brownies are layered with a moist, homemade chocolate cake, a creamy cheesecake filling topped with a thick chocolate Hershey bar layer making this irresistible. Heaven on a plate!
When you love the cheesecake and brownie combination you know you are in heaven. Try this Strawberry Cheesecake Brownies, Cherry Cheesecake Brownies or Hot Fudge Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake Brownies.
Hershey’s Cheesecake Brownies
It seems like it is a tradtion on Sunday’s to have brownies at my parents. I’ve been wanting to try this new recipe that I found. Why? Well because it has cheesecake and a Hershey chocolate bar melted on top! You can not go wrong EVER with that combo! My family LOVED them and they turned out so yummy! It was a huge hit and I knew I had to share with everyone on here. These are going to be the rave once you make them!
Two things I do love most is candy and cheesecake. With this blend of chocolate candy and cheesecake it has three delicious layers that are irresistible and has my heart. Some even love the peanut butter taste too and these Reese’s Cheesecake Brownies will hit that spot just like these Hershey chocolate cheesecake brownies did for me. You can’t go wrong with a thick, rich dessert that everyone is going to love once it hits their mouths! The combination of the three layers are heavenly good and drool worthy.

Flour: Thickens the brownies but also helps
Salt: Just a pinch!
Unsweetened Hershey’s Cocoa Powder: Give the brownies some chocolate flavoring plus add a deep dark color to the brownie mix.

How to Make Hershey’s Cheesecake Brownies:

Make brownies: In a separate bowl, beat eggs, vanilla with the sugar. Slowly add in chocolate mixture until well combined.
Mix batter together: In small bowl, sift together cocoa, salt and flour. Add mixture to rest of batter. Do not over mix.
Layer brownies: Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
For the Cream Cheese Filling:
Mix cream cheese frosting: Beat ingredients together until smooth. Pour over brownie batter and evenly spread on top.
Bake: Bake 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes, or until just set and toothpick inserted comes out clean. Remove from oven and immediately top with full size Hershey bars.  Let melt and spread evenly.  Cool completely.
The Recipe Critic Pro Tip:
Let the cheesecake brownies cool completely before cutting into them. Once cooled take a sharp knife and cut, whipping the blade after each line.

Choose from low sugar baked mooncakes (Low-sugar White Lotus Seed Paste with Walnut) or best seller tea series (Signature White Lotus Seed Paste with Osmantus Tea & Signature White Lotus Seed Paste with Pu-er Tea). My choice would be Signature White Lotus Seed Paste with Osmantus Tea. Enjoy the beautiful osmantus scent from the moment you open the packet and leaves a natural fragrance in your mouth on the aftertaste. Paired it with Mandarin Oolong and immerse in the intrinsic beauty and flavour of the mooncakes. Mix and match; all in a box! It’s so convenient.

Balsamic Roasted Strawberry Ice Cream
Ice cream.  My absolute favorite guilty pleasure.
There’s literally nothing better than creamy delicious ice cream, but when it’s homemade, ohh is it just heavenly!  Ice cream is one of those desserts I try to eat sparingly (keyword here being “try”), but this recipe is one you can actually feel GOOD about eating!  Not only are there delicious chunks of sweet strawberries in every single bite, but this recipe is gluten-free, dairy-free and has zero refined sugars!  Talk about a win-win.
Now enough talk about ice cream because the true star of this dish are the STRAWBERRIES.
Plain old strawberries, in my opinion, when chopped up and added into ice cream tend to have a sour, bitter taste to them and who wants to enjoy strawberry ice cream like that??  For this recipe I roasted the strawberries with Alessi white balsamic reduction along with a little honey which really enhanced the flavor of the strawberries and created a delicious syrup to be incorporated into the ice cream.  I am simply in love with mixing strawberries and balsamic together, I mean there is just something about that tangy/sweet combo that pairs so well for that perfect dessert!
Alessi offers such a wide variety of balsamic reductions such as raspberry, coconut, ginger, dijon, chocolate (you know, just to name a few), but the best part is they don’t have any of those unwanted fillers or thickeners in them!  Just a few simple ingredients, tons of flavor and zero chemicals.  I don’t know about you, but that’s how I like to enjoy my food!
Alessi’s balsamic reductions are so versatile that they really will compliment any dish whether it be super fancy or a quick weeknight meal that was thrown together in 30 minutes.  I like to drizzle them over salads or cheese plates because they aren’t gloppy or heavy likes some reductions can be and they also make great marinades for meat or chicken dishes.
Balsamic is such a staple item to always have on hand in your home and Alessi really hits a home run with their wide variety of products and flavors!
So after roasting the strawberries with the balsamic reduction and honey I let them cool for a bit before adding them to my ice cream which allows the syrup to thicken up nicely.  I don’t know about you, but I love getting big chunks of strawberries in every bite while eating my ice cream, so I just used a potato masher to mash up the berries, but you could also purée them in a food processor or blender if you wanted to avoid getting those big chunks.  This doesn’t change the flavor at all so feel free to make this all your own!
Making this ice cream couldn’t have been easier either!  You simply just throw all your ingredients into a blender (except for the strawberries), mix until smooth, fold in the strawberries along with their syrup and add everything to your ice cream maker.  Just remember to stick the bowl of your ice cream maker in the freezer about 24 hours before making this so that it will be nice a cold.  You definitely don’t want to forget that part!
If you don’t have a blender you can also use a hand mixer to blend everything together.
Oh and if you’re wondering how this ice cream is dairy-free, well I used canned coconut milk which is just as rich and creamy as heavy cream that is typically called for in ice cream recipes.  Make sure when you shop for your ingredients that you purchase CANNED coconut milk and not the kind you would find in the drink section.  Those are two totally different things and wouldn’t work as well when making ice cream.  You could also substitute the honey in this recipe for any sweetener of your choice.  I just thought that honey would be the perfect pairing with the strawberries and balsamic and I must say this definitely did not disappoint!
And there you have it, perfectly sweet and creamy strawberry ice cream that you can enjoy splurging on!  Hope you enjoy this dessert as much as we did!

  Print
Serves: 8 Servings
Ingredients
2 cups strawberries, halved
1 Tbsp Alessi white balsamic reduction
4 Tbsp honey, divided
1½ cans full-fat coconut milk (about 2 cups)
½ cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of your choice)
1½ tsp. vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Place the bowl of your ice cream maker in the freezer 24 hours before.
For the strawberries: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a large bowl, toss together strawberries, balsamic and 1 Tbsp honey. Transfer strawberries to a baking dish and roast for 10 minutes. Stir berries and roast for an additional 10 minutes.
Transfer roasted berries to a bowl and mash using a potato masher (this gives you big chunks) or use a blender or food processor to blend them up. Set aside to cool.
Place coconut milk, almond milk, 3 Tbsp honey, vanilla extract and salt in a blender and blend until smooth. Mix in the cooled roasted strawberries with their juices and pour into your ice cream maker, churning for about 20 minutes (or per your ice cream maker's instructions).
Place ice cream into an airtight container and freeze at least 4 hours before serving. If ice cream is too firm, just set it out about 30 minutes before serving to soften up!

Heaven on a plate! When you love the cheesecake and brownie combination you know you are in heaven. Try this Strawberry Cheesecake Brownies, Cherry Cheesecake Brownies or Hot Fudge Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake Brownies. Hershey’s Cheesecake Brownies It seems like it is a tradtion on Sunday’s to have brownies at my parents. For the Cream Cheese Filling: Mix cream cheese frosting: Beat ingredients together until smooth. Remove from oven and immediately top with full size Hershey bars.  Let melt and spread evenly.  Cool completely. The Recipe Critic Pro Tip: Let the cheesecake brownies cool completely before cutting into them. Once cooled take a sharp knife and cut, whipping the blade after each line.  Storing Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies: These usually don’t last long enough to have over and over again.
