ok so i'm having a dumb as fuck revelation right now. i worked at this startup nonprofit for 6 years. they got me young i started at 18, and i developed the hell out of my skills there. because startup. anything that needs done, you have to figure out how to do.
and i did that for 6 years and i was happy as fuck. i loved the work, i loved the mission, i loved the people, i loved every single fucking thing about it.
and also, eventually i could not fucking keep up. I was doing marketing and communications and the zero waste program and a little advocacy and formalizing policy and teaching classes to 6th graders and opening up the coffeeshop and doing operations projects as needed and i just could not fucking keep up. we did a whole fuckin workforce personality eval and the evaluator called us the "get shit done crew." and i loved that about us! until i could not keep up. at all.
so i took a break and now I'm in a new nonprofit and. ok. so for my old one we served about 5,000 participants for the year given. admittedly our programs are more in-depth and required more intensive work than many other orgs who support single-point-of-contact intervention but still! I wrote a 24 page long report for less than 5,000 clients and you know how long the last annual report at my current position was? for 45,000 clients? 9 PAGES.
