Head Over Heels
Eddie Munson x Hendersonâs Sister!Reader
The moment Eddie knew Y/N Henderson was the one for him
Fluff, Some violence, mentions of weed
Y/N took a seat at her lunch table across from her best friend, Robin.
"Hey," she said when she saw the frown on her face. "What's going on?"
Robin looked up from her tray where she played with her food and glared over at the basketball table. "Jason is such a dick."
"You just realized that now?" she joked, trying to brighten her mood.
"Even more so than usual."
"What did he do now?" Y/N asked. She leaned in to make sure that no one overheard what she was going to say next. "Did he find out about you and say something? If he did, I'll fucking kill him! I will wring his neck with my bare hands. I will shove a basketball up his a-mmph."
She was interrupted during her rant by Robin bending over the table and covering her mouth.
"No, he doesn't know shit." She sat back in her seat.
"So, what did he do?"
Y/N's blood boiled as Robin told her what Jason and his cronies did.
"Douchebag." If looks could kill then the one she shot the basketball table would've had the Team Captain 6 feet under.
"Right? Someone needs to knock him down a peg...or 10. One of these days somebody is going to get tired of his shit and smack that smug smile off of his face."
Robin's statement caused an idea to spark in Y/N's mind.
"You're right," she said and stood up.
"Right about what?" Robin inquired. "Y/N/N? What am I right about?"
Y/N walked up to a fellow student with a polite smile. "I can take that for you." She took their finished empty tray and approached the basketball team with a determined pep in her step, her eyes hard as steel and zeroed in on her target.
Mike nudged Dustin's shoulder.
"Ow, what?"
"What's your sister doing?"
"My sister..." Dustin looked over to his sister.
"Hey Jason."
"What do you want, Fr- AH!"
Y/N had reared back and smacked him across the face with the plastic tray so hard, Justin was thrown out of his chair onto the cafeteria floor.
"Oh shit!" Dustin exclaimed.
"She's lost her damn mind."
The cafeteria was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. She stared down at the biggest jerk of Hawkins High with a smug look.
"Y/N HENDERSON!"
Her face fell and she felt like a bucket of ice water had just been dumped over her head.
"Shit."
Principal Higgins approached her and grabbed her bicep.
"My office, now."
She ducked her head as he led her out of the cafeteria, unaware of the brown eyes that followed her from the Hellfire table.
"Detention, for a week."
"Yessir."
She stood up when dismissed and walked out of his office, a detention slip in her hand.
She heard clapping and looked over to where Eddie 'The Freak' Munson leaned against the wall.
"That was some show, Henderson."
"Well, I aim to please."
He kicked off the wall and walked towards her.
"What did the Warden say?" he asked and plucked the paper out of her hand. He whistled as he read it. "A week, huh? That blows."
"What can I say? He can't get enough of me."
Eddie snorted.
He handed the slip back to her with something hidden underneath it. He leaned in and whispered, "this is on the house."
Y/N turned it over and saw the little baggie of week. On the plastic was written, 'want to go out on a date?'
She tried to contain the thousand watt smile that wanted to spread on her face. She cleared her throat to give her time so that she wouldn't appear to be as eager as she was.
"Sure."
Eddie grinned and tilted his head. She had a feeling he saw through her false persona of calm. "I'll pick you up tonight."
"I have detention tonight," she countered.
He spread his arms as he backed away. "Then I'll pick you up after detention." He gave her a wink before he turned on his heel and walked down the hall.
"Can I ask you a question? Y/N asked as they ate pizza in the back of his van.
"You just did," he joked with a shit eating grin.
She rolled her eyes and nudged his side. He draped his arm around her shoulder and made a motion with his free hand.
"Ask away, Sweetheart."
"Did you ask me out because I hit Jason with a tray?"
"No."
Y/N raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"I've had a crush on you since middle school. You used to be this quiet, mousy girl and then one day you came to school this total badass who took no shit from anyone. I fell head over heels and today when you hit that Douche in the face...I knew that I had to stop being a coward and ask you out."
"If I knew this would happen, I would've hit Jason in the face a lot sooner."
Eddie let out a laugh.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"You just did, but I'll let you ask another." She smirked.
"Haha, very funny," he replied. "Was hitting Jason in the face worth a weeks worth of detention?"
"Oh, Absolutely. Why thinking of doing it too?"
"Might as well. That way I can spend more time with my girl." He grinned down at her.
"So I'm your girl now?"
His cheeks turned red and he stuttered. "Well, I mean... I-If you want to be my girl, that is. You don't have to be, but I'd like it if you we-mmph"
His ramble was cut off by Y/N reaching up to grab the collar of his shirt to pull him down to press a kiss to his lips.
"I definitely want to be your girl."
"Metal," he said, breathlessly. "Do you think we could..." he motioned between them. "Kiss again."
"You don't have to ask me twice."
Eddie cupped her face and captured her lips into another kiss.

Hiiii!!!!
Okay Iâve kinda had this story playing in my mind for a while but weâve got older sister Henderson who comes back to Hawkins high school for her final year (she was at another school for whatever reason) and she has to pick up Dustin from hellfire. Sheâs got a stutter and maybe tries to talk to Eddie about dnd because sheâs got a crush on him but he thinks sheâs pretending or mocking him in some way cause of the stutter (maybe he thinks sheâs trying to sound geeky). She gets really upset and goes mute for a while at home and at school and Dustin knows sheâs sad but doesnât know itâs Eddie that made her feel that way. Maybe Dustin invites Eddie over and Eddie is prepared to be mean but Dustin says like âoh she hasnât talked since someone made fun of her stutterâ and Eddie realizes he messed up and she wasnât lyingâŚ. Itâs a lot đ
I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy it. First fic back after like 2 weeks! Hopefully I'm not rusty. Thank you for requesting đŤśđť
Stutter
It had been a few years since Y/N Henderson was in Hawkins, but now she had to head back for senior year. Even though she was away, Dustin kept her caught up with everything, including his cute new best friend Eddie Munson.
Y/N grew a slight crush on the stranger through photos and stories that Dustin shared. She felt nervous to see him in person because of her stutter. She didn't have the best control over it when she was nervous, it got the best of her and caused insecurity.
She took a deep breath as she got out of her car. She gave herself a small pep talk as she entered the school. She hadn't been in it for years but barely anything changed. She smoothed down her jeans, giving her outfit one last look in her reflection in the windows. She had no shame in trying to look her best because she knew there was a big chance she would see Eddie.
She made it to the door Dustin directed her to. She knocked on it softly and heard the voices on the inside go silent.
She backed up when the door swung open, and there he was.
Eddie had his hair down, the only way she ever saw it. His eyes were gorgeous in person, so much brighter than the pictures.
"Hi" she breathed, a smile on her face
Eddie shut the door behind him. A suspicious look on his face. He crossed his arms, trying to threaten her but she found it attractive.
"Can I help you?" he asked
"Dustin's sister, Y/N," she said, smiling as she felt proud of herself for not stuttering once. She tried to stay in control of her tongue.
"You are a Henderson?" He asked, she felt her skin burn when he stepped back and looked at her up and down. "Seem too cute to be related to him"
And just like that, it switched
She got so nervous her mind went blank. She couldn't practice the sentence beforehand as he waited for her to speak.
"Dung..eo..eons...and ddddr...ag...on...ons, do yyyou en...jjjjoy plaaa....y..ing...th..a...a..t?"
She wanted to smack herself for how stuttered her sentence was. She felt her body shut down when his eyes snapped into slits like he was glaring at her. She fiddled with her fingers nervously.
"Wouldn't be the master if I didn't." He scoffed, his tone much ruder than before. "If you plan to just stutter and mock me, don't bother talking to me. I'll get Dustin." He snapped, then he opened the door and slammed it.
The wind from the hard slam smacked her in the face. She quickly bit down on her lip to make sure she didn't cry. He sounded much nicer and sweet in Dustin's stories.
The door opened again and Dustin came out with a smile. Immediately talking he told her all about the campaign. She listened quietly as they made their way home. She was stuck in her head and pity. And it hurt to admit just how much Eddie's words hurt her.
~~~
She respected what Eddie said, making sure anytime she ran into him at school she didn't say a word. She didn't say a word to really anyone. She knew her stutter could be annoying and she didn't want to give anyone else a reason to shut her out.
Dustin didn't question her about her silence. She just got back and probably needed time to adjust to everything again. He figured maybe she was overwhelmed. Until he overheard her talking with their mom about someone saying something about her stutter and now she didn't feel comfortable speaking. Dustin's heart hurt for her but he didn't want to invade her privacy.
Y/N never said who so Dustin had no idea the person in the story was Eddie. As a result, Dustin didn't think twice about inviting Eddie to dinner after a long campaign.
"Your sister here?" Eddie asked as Dustin unlocked the door.
"Yeah," Dustin said, taking off his shoes. Eddie followed his movements, slipping out of his dirty sneakers. Eddie cracked his neck, already planning comebacks in his head if she tried something again.
He looked up as Y/N came into view, she offered a small smile and passed her way into the kitchen.
"Don't mind her quietness. She's got this stutter and some asshole made a comment about it so now she's silent. Don't take it personally, once she's warmed up to you she will talk." Dustin said with a smile
Eddie felt his stomach drop as the kid walked into the kitchen. She had a stutter? She didn't purposely stutter in front of Eddie to make him feel like he was being made fun of? Instead, he made fun of her for something she couldn't control. He hung his head in shame as he felt like a true asshole.
He walked into the kitchen, and sat in the familiar seat he sat in every time he was over. He felt uncomfortable when he realized his seat was directly across from hers.
She smiled again, then looked down at her plate.
Eddie coughed and dug into his plate. Dustin and his mom got into a conversation as he kept looking up at Y/N. He hated that he made her silent in her own home.
"So dear, how has the first week back been? Feeling better after that situation?" Mrs. Henderson asked, her attention on Y/N.
Y/N shrunk down in her chair, her eyes avoiding Eddie's at all costs.
"I..I...I'm tttt...trying to practice with my ttt....tapes again." Y/N stuttered out, giving her mom a soft smile before she went back to her plate.
"Good girl," Mrs. Henderson said as she softly touched her hand
Eddie lost his appetite as his stomach twisted with guilt.
The rest of dinner was mostly Dustin talking but that was a relief to everyone at the table.
Everyone was excused and Dustin prepared for bed. Eddie prepared to leave but he knew he needed to apologize. He nervously walked to her bedroom, her name written on the outside in glitter.
He knocked and waited for it to open
She opened the door and was surprised to see Eddie. She stayed silent as she waited for him to speak.
"About last week, you deserve an apology. I'm sorry for being a total dick and treating you like that. I made a horrible first impression, but I'm used to people making fun of me and I thought you were too." Eddie explained
He watched as she took a big breath and opened her mouth
"Ittttt's okkkkay" she stuttered, Eddie smiled as he tried to make her feel comfortable
"Thank you for saying that. Maybe we can start over? Over dinner sometime?" He asked, that flirty tone was back and it made her heart race.
"Yes," she said with a smile, "one thing"
Eddie watched as she walked to her desk and grabbed a pen. She softly grabbed his hand, his heart racing as she wrote on his palm
She clicked the pen, smiled, and softly shut her door.
Eddie smiled to himself as he looked down at his palm, her name and number in black ink.
You love your brother, you really do but that little shrimp, how Eddie likes to call him, can truly get on your nerves sometimes. You do anything for him, which is probably why he is so insatiable. You always spoiled him, that was probably your first mistake but you love getting him things that he loves so much, whether itâs new comics, books, movies or anything DnD related. A lot of your savings are spent on him, you know itâs not your job to get him all this stuff all the time but he is your little brother and you love seeing that big smile on his face whenever he gets excited about the things you get him.Â
You drive him around when Steve is too busy to do it, you cook him lunch and dinner when your mom has no time to do it, you bake things for him and his friends and you let him host movie nights even though you love having the living room to yourself on Friday nights.Â
You always say yes to him.Â
But not this time.Â
âCome on, are you serious?â Dustin exclaims, rolling his eyes at you as he follows you to your locker.Â
âVery serious, Dustin!âÂ
âYou can literally do it any other night, y/n!âÂ
Mike, Will and Lucas are tagging along with him, giving you their best puppy eyes.Â
You open your locker, staring into blank space as you take a deep breath before you turn back around to look at the teens.Â
âYou know what? Iâve been waiting for this night for weeks! Mom is out of town, you were supposed to be at Mikeâs place if I remember correctly and I was supposed to have the house to myself!âÂ
Mike furrows his brows, âwhy canât you have your girls night at our place? You can have the basement,â he shrugs.Â
âYeah, the basement is nice!â Will smiles, though he doesnât look like he wants to be a part of this argument.Â
âYeah, Iâm sure Nancy and Robin would be fine with that,â Lucas says, giving you an unsure grin.Â
âExactly!â Dustin rolls his eyes.Â
You tilt your head, âwhy donât you host your DnD thing in your basement? Thatâs where you always used to play!âÂ
Dustin puts his hand on his forehead, âor you can just hang out in your room and weâll have the living room to ourselves, that way we can all have what we want!â
You laugh, shaking your head in disbelief, âI want the living room, in fact, I want the whole house to myself, for once!âÂ
Dustin scrunches his face up in confusion, âoh come on, y/n, please!âÂ
Mike and Lucas nod along, âplease, we donât want any parents around, they arenât exactly fans of Eddie.âÂ
Your features soften a little, something that definitely doesnât go unnoticed by your little brother.Â
You sigh, crossing your arms over your chest, you shake your head. You, Nancy and Robin have planned your only girls night for weeks, there is no way that you will let any boys interrupt it.Â
âNope.âÂ
Dustinâs face grows red, he rolls his eyes and throws his hands up, âson of a bitch,â he mumbles to himself, âis it because of your crush on Eddie? Are you scared that you will embarrass yourself when heâs around the way you always do?â
Your jaw drops and your eyes widen as you look at your brother.Â
Mikeâs eyes widen as well, he opens his mouth to say something but quickly closes it again when he sees the metalhead behind you, his expression mirroring yours.Â
Will looks down, feeling sorry for you.Â
Lucas cups his mouth, looking like heâs about to burst into laughter.Â
Dustinâs face grows pale, regret flickering in his eyes when he sees the shocked and embarrassed look on your face and the surprised one on Eddieâs.Â
âWhat?!âÂ
Thatâs the question you ask yourself, internally. That voice did not belong to you though, this is Eddieâs voice.Â
Your blood runs cold and your stomach churns. Closing your eyes, you take a deep breath. Oh, how you wish the ground would just swallow you whole. Your cheeks heat up and embarrassment rushes through you.Â
Eddie, whose face is more flustered than ever, steps around you, staring at you with wide eyes, ây/n, is that the truth?âÂ
You can only imagine what he thinks and what he feels, you spare yourself the embarrassment of being rejected. You donât look at him, you donât even bother to answer the question, you slam your locker shut, âhost your goddamn campaign, Dustin,â you spit before you walk away without sparing any of them a single look.Â
Eddieâs big eyes follow you, watching you walk away with your head hung low. His heart skips a beat, butterflies swirling in his stomach. You have a crush on him? The girl he has been pining for, feels the same?Â
âDustin,â Will mumbles, âhow can you embarrass your own sister like that?â He shakes his head.Â
âYeah, dude,â Lucas mumbles.
Mike scratches his head and glances at Eddie who looks awestruck.
âShit,â Dustin mumbles, closing his eyes.Â
Eddie finally turns to look at him, putting his hand on the teenâs shoulder, he looks down at him, âHenderson, is that the truth?â Eddie asks, âyour sister has a crush on meâ on me?â He points to himself in confusion.Â
Mike and Lucas share a look, smirking a little.Â
Dustin finally opens his eyes, looking nervously up at his dungeon master, he is unsure of what to say, not wanting to embarrass you any further, he shrugs.Â
Lucas sighs, rolling his eyes at his friend, âyes, Eddie. She has a crush on you.âÂ
Mike nods, âyeah, she was actually talking about you with my sister.âÂ
Eddie looks at them, âreally?âÂ
Dustin squints his eyes, taking in the excited look on Eddieâs face, âwait,â he mumbles, âdo you like my sister?âÂ
Eddie swallows, cheeks growing red.
âHoly shit!â Dustin exclaims as the three teens start smirking at him but before any of them can say anything else, Eddie turns around and runs off just the way you did, leaving them all giggling.Â
-
You and Eddie arenât the closest friends, that is probably because of your huge crush on him. Dustin isnât wrong, you do tend to embarrass yourself in front of him.Â
Whenever he is around, you turn into a blushing mess, you barely manage to form a sentence when he talks to you, all he ever gets are short responses, shy smiles and little waves. The poor guy probably thinks you hate him but he really just makes you incredibly nervous.Â
You always had a crush on him, from the first moment you had laid your eyes on him, you had a special place in your heart for the handsome metalhead, not knowing that he feels just the same.Â
You never talked much to him, only when you sat next to each other during class or saw him outside of school but you werenât brave enough to make the move to become his friend or anything more than that.Â
When your brother befriended him and he started coming around, stealing your job of driving him around, he always left you a blushing mess. Eddie was always a flirt, throwing random pickup lines at you, gifting you a flower that he picked from your motherâs garden or someone elseâs property, holding doors open for you or carrying your books to classes but you never thought much of it, you thought that heâs like that with every girl.Â
He is not.Â
You fear that, that is over now, that he is weirded out by your crush on him. Thanks to your brother and his big mouth, your day and the rest of your week is ruined.Â
All day, you have been avoiding Eddie, trying your best to avoid eye contact. The thought of being confronted and rejected makes you feel both mortified and heartbroken.Â
You successfully manage to get through the day without running into him again. Now, youâre alone in your room, sulking, listening to Tears for Fears and glaring at your diary, the one that Dustin mustâve read, how else would he know of your crush and your hopeless feelings for Eddie?Â
A knock on your window pulls you out of your thoughts, startling you a little. You throw the ripped out pages on your bed and turn around, eyes widening when you see Eddie who stands in front of your window with a smile on his face, waving at you shyly.
Your heart begins to race, your eyes widen. Nervously, you make your way towards it, he purses his lips, staring at you in excitement. Sliding the window open, you lick your lips and take a deep breath, âh-hi?â You mumble nervously.Â
He is not here to reject you is he?Â
Eddie smiles and you just now notice the flowers in his hands.
Surely, a guy who is about to reject you, wonât show up with flowers and a smile on his face, right?
âHello princess,â he grins, looking giddy as he eyes you.Â
You blush at the pet name, breaking eye contact, you look down.Â
âCan I come in?âÂ
You nod and step aside to let him in, you dig your nails into your palms, a nervous habit that you have picked up on, years ago. You look down at yourself, growing incredibly flustered when you realize that youâre only wearing a big shirt and underwear.Â
He climbs inside and shuts the window before he turns around to face you, he canât even fight the smile off his face when he sees how nervous you are, âhere, these are for you,â he whispers, holding out the flowers for you.Â
Your eyes light up, looking up at him, you notice the excitement in his dark eyes, his plump lips are set in a bright smile.Â
You reach for the flowers, your fingertips graze his knuckles as you take the flowers from him, âthank you,â you smile, glancing at the pink and yellow flowers, âthose are not from momâs garden,â you giggle.Â
Eddie shakes his head, âno, theyâre not,â he smiles, âI picked them out just for you, thereâs a huge field of flowers close to Loverâs Lake,â he explains. He licks his lips, looking around the room that he has only passed by whenever he came over to pick up Dustin, âmaybe I could take you thereâŚ. tomorrow? To Loverâs Lake, I mean.âÂ
Your heart flutters in your chest, excitement bubbling in your stomach.Â
âTo do what?â You ask, tilting your head, âisnât that like a popular makeout spot?âÂ
His eyes widen and he chuckles, âno, according to all the jocks at school, skull rock is a popular makeout spot,â he says, stepping closer to you, he smiles as he watches you smelling the flowers, âbut we could always make Loverâs Lake a new makeout spot, just for us, of course.âÂ
Your eyes widen even more, your cheeks grow incredibly hot.Â
Your reaction makes him smirk, a sense of pride rushing through him for being so âsmoothâ.Â
You giggle, forgetting all about the embarrassment and the fear you have felt before.
âJust for us?âÂ
He steps even closer to you, bringing his hand up, he brushes your hair back, tucking it behind your ear, âI wouldnât want to take any other girl there, sweetheart,â he says, eyes softening, âbut you gotta stop running away from me, Iâve been trying to catch you all day.âÂ
You draw your brows together and look up at him with big eyes, it makes him weak in the knees.Â
âTell me, is that little shrimp telling the truth?â He asks with big and hopeful eyes.Â
You blink, your breathing quickens and you grow nervous all over again.Â
âIf he is, then Iâd be the happiest and luckiest man in the world, princess.âÂ
Your heart leaps to your throat, you canât believe it.Â
âReally?â You breathe.Â
He nods with a large smile on his face.Â
âIf you havenât noticed, Iâm like really obsessed with you,â he admits, cheeks redder than ever.Â
âWait what?âÂ
He chuckles, shaking his head as he cups your cheek, âI thought, I made it pretty obvious.âÂ
Not only does Eddie use every opportunity to talk to you, to spend time with you, he also creates DnD characters based on you, he drives around Hawkins, searching for the perfect flowers for you, he picks up Dustin just so he can see you, even if itâs only for one minute, he does anything to see you and to be with you and he explains all that to you, leaving you standing there with a shocked and awestruck look on your face.Â
âI-I thought you do that for every girl,â you admit.Â
âNever!â Eddie frowns, âI only want one girl,â he says as he reaches for your hand, bringing it up to his lips, he keeps looking into your eyes as he presses a kiss to your knuckles, âI only want you, sweetheart. So, will you take pity on my cynical heart and do me the honor and go on a date with me?â He asks, dramatically and with a teasing look in his eyes.Â
Your giggle makes his soul happy.
Eddie is so crazy about you. He loves your beautiful voice, it always makes his heart flutter. He loves your sweet smile. He loves the way you get so flustered whenever he just looks at you. He loves your perfume. He loves the way you make him feel. The way you have always been so good and sweet to him, the way you always make him smile and happy, even on his worst days.
You're his angel.
âI would love to go on a date with you, Eddie Munson,â you smile.Â
âReally?â He exclaims happily.Â
âYes!âÂ
He fist bumps the air before he scoops you up in his arms and twirls you around, giggling at the squeal that leaves your lips as you wrap your arms around his neck, still holding the flowers in your hands.Â
âThis is the best day of my life,â he whispers when he places you back on the ground, giving you a toothy grin, he canât even help himself, leaning closer, he kisses your cheek, âcanât believe that your little brother made it the best day.âÂ
âYou shouldâve asked me out before,â you whisper.Â
âSweetheart, I didnât think you were into me, I feel like Iâve been flirting with you for months!âÂ
âI didnât think you were flirting!âÂ
âWasnât I obvious?âÂ
You shrug, âI thought that you were just a flirt!âÂ
He scoffs, putting his hands on the small of your back, he pulls you tightly against him, âonly for you.âÂ
You smile at him. Raising your hand, you run your fingers through his hair and push it back, reaching for one of the smaller flowers in your little bouquet, you pick it out and tuck the stem behind his ear.Â
Eddie chuckles at your action but his heart flutters when you lean in and kiss his cheek.Â
âYouâre pretty, Eddie.âÂ
âYeah?â He asks, blushing.Â
You nod.Â
âI think youâre prettier,â he whispers, smiling at you, âyouâre the prettiest.âÂ
âNo, thatâs you.âÂ
âNo, you!âÂ
Neither of you notice the hushed whispers outside of your door, too busy and focused on each other.
âOh, theyâre so gross already,â Dustin mumbles with a disgusted look on his face.Â
Lucas and Mike giggle.Â
âI think, theyâre super cute,â Will smiles with a happy look on his face.Â
âI think Eddie will come over for something other than the campaign this weekend,â Lucas says, wiggling his brows.Â
Dustin groans, shaking his head, âew!âÂ
The visit
Eddie munson x Henderson!reader
Summary: Suzie comes to visit Dustin which some how wraps you and eddie into the mix.
Laying peacefully in bed. Your head on eddies chest. Naked under the sheets. Skin touching. His arm around you as you lay at his side. Your arms wrapped around his slender waist. The clock reading 1:43 pm. What more could you want? Nothing could ruin the moment. Until...
BANG! BANG! BANG!
On your bedroom door
"We're back with Suzie come say hi don't be rude." Dustin shouts from the other side of the door waking eddie. Then his running footsteps could be heard. Eddie groans rubbing his eyes. You sit up in bed kissing Eddie sweetly. As you pull away he attempts to chase your lips. But gives up throwing himself into the pillows.
"Morning baby." You say stretching before getting up looking for you pyjamas.
"Afternoon more like." Eddie says glancing at the clock. You both slip your pyjamas back on. Eddie hugs you for a moment and sways holding you. "Common let's go meet Dustins not so imaginary girlfriend." Eddie says kissing your head.
He opens the door for you and you both exit. Walking to the living room eddies arm over your shoulders keeping you close to his side. Dustin hears you before he sees you.
"Finally. Suzie this is y/n. Y/n this is... Why is Eddie here?" Dustin completly trails off starring at Eddie.
"Cause he's my boyfriend n it was late. Hi Suzie I'm Dustins sister nice to meet you." You say stretching nearly accidentally hitting Eddie from how close he was stood next to you. You rub his arm in apology.
"Nice to meet you y/n." Suzie smiles giving you a small wave.
"And this is Eddie you know my D&D club leader I told you about." Dustin gestures to Eddie.
"Oh yes Dustin has told me lots about you." She smiles at eddie.
"Nice to uh meet you." Eddie says still half asleep.
Dustin shows Suzie around the small house and you and Eddie head to the kitchen. You sit in the side as he puts the kettle on making you, your mum and himself a coffee as he refuses to let you do it when he's over due to you burning yourself once. "Your so good to me." You say as Eddie steps between yours legs. He burries his face in your neck arms going to your waist.
Dustin and Suzie walk into the kitchen and Eddie untangles himself from you going back to the coffee task. "Did you seriously only just wake up?" Dustin asked sitting at the small table with Suzie next to him.
"Yes n if it was up to me n not your loud mouth we would still be asleep." Eddie complains half for getting Suzie there. But not enough to not make her and Dustin hot coco. "Here." He slides them a cross the table to the too
"Why won't you let y/n do it?" Dustin askes
"Cause I burnt myself once n he won't get over it." You mumble sipping your coffee as Eddie takes your mum hers rolling his eyes. "He can't say I don't try he's just a drama queen."
"First I'm dungeon master it's my thing. Second I'm not being responsible for if u burn yourself again you was a baby last Time." Eddie says kissing your cheek.
"Hey Eddie..." Dustin askes. Eddie turns so he's stood between your legs with his back to you looking at Dustin arms crossed over his chest. Your arm that isn't holding coffee goes around him. "What?" He answers simply.
"Do you wanna I dunno would you mind taking me and Suzie to the arcade I wanna introduce her to Mike will and Lucas... And then back here..." Dustin askes hastily.
"Only if y/n comes so I'm not a total taxi driver." He answers leaning fully back into you. "I'll come." You say sipping your coffee.
"Well there's your answer." Eddie says. You lean a cross and put your mug in the sink. Both your arms going around his neck. His hands to your legs and and slide to his back. "To my bedroom. I gotta get dressed." You say as Eddie walks out the kitchen with you in his back.
"I hope were like them two one day. They seem so happy, and in love and they act like it's just them two in the world." Suzie says smiling at Dustin sipping her drink.
"Once you get to know them more you'll realise were more like them then you think trust me." Dustin says finally holding her hand. Which she blushes and smiles at.
In your room Eddie throws you on to the bed. Jumping in you as you giggle. "Where the black Lacey top and the black leather mini skirt. I'll give you my leather jacket to go with it." Eddie says kissing you.
"Why?" You giggle.
"Cause you look hot in that outfit and I'm going to willingly give you my jacket." He says rolling off of you to find some of the clothes you'd stolen.
You both get dressed and enter the living room.
"Let's go kiddos." Eddie says signalling for the door. Suzie and Dustin walk out hand in hand smiling. Eddie glanced you up and down. "God I love you in that jacket." Eddie says playfully throwing his head back.
"Mmm and I love you in just the demim over vest really shows yours tattoos." You say walking over to him.
"I love you."
"I love you most."
"Come in Romeo's gonna start shouting at Me if I don't hurry." Eddie says gesturing the door for you. As you close the door and look around you see Dustin and Suzie kissing and then pulling away. Eddie takes your hand and walks down to the van.
"Hey babe?" He says opening the sliding door for the two. "Yeah? " you answer as he slams the side door and them opens yours. Which you happily jump into.
"Remember when we was that awkward?" Eddie whispers and giggles.
"Yeah I remember when you first kissed me and you went as red as a tomato and started stuttering." You laugh putting a hand on his cheek.
"Shhh don't tell them." Eddie says kissing you then closing the door.
He gets in the drivers side and starts the van.
"Red as a tomato huh?" Dustin says to Eddie from the back of the van.
"Shut it Henderson or I'll tell the whole club how awkward that kiss you two just shared there was." Eddie half threatens to which Dustin takes his hands.
"Rights let's go." Eddie pulls out of your driveway and rests a hand on your thigh as he drives to the arcade. Dustin and Suzie are talking and blushing. You can't help but remember when it was you and Eddie sat in the back of the van talking, blushing and giggling and you smile, happy that Dustins found what he never thought he would find.
You look over to Eddie to see him with a cigarette hanging loosely from his lips. One hand on the steering wheel and the other on your thigh. He glances over at you and smiles. "Love you." He says as he blows the smoke out the window.
"Love you more." You say taking his hand in yours.
"Love you most." He smirks kissing your hand with a loud 'mwah' sound.
"Huh you bitch." You say smirking kissing his stubbly cheek.
"You love it." He smirks
need you tonight
summary: steve sneaks over late at night to see you.
pairing: steve harrington x henderson!sister reader
title đľ: need you tonight by inxs
a/n: this is super short & sweet â¤ď¸
Itâs late at night. Youâre home in your room, getting ready for bed, when-
TAP, TAP, TAP
You turn and see your boyfriend Steve standing right outside your window. Your eyes widen in excitement. Steve smiles when you notice him.Â
You go over to the window and open it. Steve climbs inside and looks around.
âSo this is your bedroom, huh?â
This is the first time a boy other than your little brother has been in your room.
âSteve! What are you doing here?!â you ask.Â
âI needed to see you. I missed you,â Steve says softly as he wraps his arms around you.
Your heart melts. You pull him closer to you and give him a kiss.
âI missed you too.â
After a little moment, you and Steve pull away from each other. He sits down on your bed.
âSo, uh, I didnât see your momâs car in the drivewayâŚâ your boyfriend comments.
âYeah. Sheâs working the overnight shift,â you tell him.
Steve nods.
âAnd what about Dustin? Is he here?â Steve asks.
You shake your head.
âHeâs sleeping over Mikeâs tonight.â
Steveâs face perks up.
âOh yeah?â he smirks, looking you up and down.
You inhale deeply, checking out your boyfriend. Damn, heâs so hot! You bite the bottom of your lip and slowly nod.
âYeah. I have the place all to myself tonight,â you coyly reply.
Steve stands to his feet. He sighs, shaking his head while he approaches you.
âI donât know, Y/N. I canât have you spending the night here all aloneâŚâ
Steve wraps his arms around your waist. He pulls you closer to him. You raise your eyebrow.Â
âHmm really? Then what are you gonna do about it?â you ask suggestively.Â
âI think I need to spend the night here and make sure you donât get lonely,â your boyfriend tells you.
You nod and wrap your arms around Steveâs shoulders.
âI like that plan,â you smile.
and i never (saw you coming)
summary: coming back from college for the summer, you never would have expected to meet someone in your tiny town. and you most definitely would not have expected that someone to be steve fucking harrington.
a.n: so this is a henderson!readerxsteve BUT there are absolutely zero descriptors and no mention of being blood relatives or anything so please take the sibling relationship however you would like!! this is also a part one to a lil two part thing. set in s4 but i've changed it to be summer break rather than spring and i am finally writing canon material wherein the UD exists (part two) shout out to miss swift for the title xx
wc: 6k+
no smut but there may be in part two and as a baseline, i am an 18+ blog so please respect that. mentions of weed, drinking and sex. no use of y/n!
ââĄâ§âË
Steve doesnât usually make the effort to get out of his car to collect Dustin. But he had honked his damn horn five times now and was getting frankly sick of waiting for the petulant boy.Â
He races up the gravel path, cursing under his breath about not being a fucking taxi and how he shouldnât take him for granted. Steveâs sure thereâs smoke coming out of his ears as he pounds on the door, prepared to give the boy an earful.Â
His mouth is open when the door creaks open, âDustin I have told you-,â itâs only then that he realises that Dustin isnât the one behind the door. Itâs you.Â
âExcuse me?â you start, frowning at this apparent grown man who seemed to have a problem with your younger brother. As much as he got on your last nerve, youâd defend him to the moon and back.Â
âYouâre not- um, is Dustin home?â he asks sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck in utter shame. Dustin had mentioned you a few times and he was sure he remembered you from school but never really took much notice.Â
âWhy?â you ask pointedly, scowling at the man. He was from school, you knew that much. One of the basketball players that absolutely would have sniggered about you in the halls.Â
âIâm giving him a ride to uh- to the movies,â he nods, realising that he sounded like an utter weirdo.Â
âArenât you a little old to be hanging out with my brother?âÂ
Steve hesitates because yes, he probably was too old to admit that your little brother was his friend. Let alone the fact he considered him a best friend.Â
âUh.. I could see why you think that but mentally Iâm probably more his age than mine,â smiling at you, genuinely not seeing an issue with his statement.Â
Your eyes narrow, brows knitted together. You knew he wasnât some dodgy old pervert but he had absolutely not helped his case there. âRight.. well, no. Heâs not back yet soâŚâÂ
âOh, well Iâll just.. wait in my car,â he nods, slowly turning to jump back into his car. Eager to not make himself look any stupider in front of you.Â
You sigh, âyou can wait inside,â opening the door wider for him, you wouldnât hear the end of it from Dustin if you made his dear friend wait outside.Â
He tiptoes into the house, eyeing the quirky decorations your mom had covered the house in. It was clear now why Dustin was so.. eccentric. Heâs like a stray dog, hovering around the couch, too scared to sit down.Â
You resume your spot, attempting to pay attention to whatever movie is on the TV but struggling knowing heâs still just standing awkwardly above you.Â
âYou can sit down, you know?â you bark, not bothering to look at him.Â
He does almost immediately, running his sweaty palms along his knees. God, why was this making him so flustered?Â
âYouâre Dustinâs sister then?â the words falling out of his mouth without much thought. He wants to fall into the floor. Obviously you were his sister. Fuck.Â
âYup.âÂ
âCool.. I havenât really seen you before.. Iâm uh-,â sticking his hand out for you to shake, âSteve.. Steve Harrington,â smiling as you glance at his outstretched hand, hesitantly shaking it.Â
The mention of his name makes everything click into place. This is the infamous Steve that Dustin didnât shut up about. You were in the same grade at school and had shared a few classes but had never really spoken. That mightâve been something to do with him being a gigantic prick the entire five years you were in school.Â
âOh,â you nod, trying to mask your apprehensions, âI remember you,â hoping that didnât give too much of your distaste away.Â
âYeah.. Iâm not like.. that anymore,â picking up on your obvious distrust. Itâs not surprising that so many people still hold reservations about him, even he could admit that he wasnât exactly a saint.Â
You hum in response. You can mostly believe him because there was no way in hell Dustin wouldâve ever become friends with someone like King Steve. In fact, knowing your little brother, he probably wouldâve detested the kind of boy he was in school.Â
âSo.. you go to college?â he asks, trying desperately to change the subject.Â
âYeah.. uh, Chicago, I didnât wanna go too far yanno?â not that you really couldâve. College was a last minute, fuck it kind of decision and you hadnât really even planned on staying past the first week. But you had, and had even found yourself liking it.Â
âThatâs cool.. what do yaâ do? If you donât mind me asking,â shifting in his seat, eyes dead set on you.Â
âLanguage studies, itâs not cool or exciting at all but I enjoy it,â shrugging as you pick at the loose thread on your shorts, avoiding any direct eye contact.Â
Despite Steve Harrington being a changed man, he still made you incredibly nervous and you felt like suddenly you were back in high school. He just had this aura to him and the way he carries himself, even now, was just intimidating.Â
âNo, that is cool? I wish I was smart enough for college,â chuckling nervously, âI bet itâs crazy out there.âÂ
Your definition of a crazy night meant smoking with Julia, your roommate, and eating a stupid amount of shit food. His definition of crazy definitely included some frat party and hooking up with some stranger in a crowded house.Â
âHah.. not really, I think maybe we have different definitions of crazy.âÂ
âWell, whatâs your idea of crazy then?âÂ
You look around on the off chance Dustin and your mom had somehow snuck into the house completely silently, âgetting high and eating a bunch of junk food.. not exactly the kinda shit you imagined.âÂ
âHow dâyou know what I imagined? Maybe I think thatâs a crazy night too,â laughing at your assumptions, evidently he was still hanging onto that King Steve persona.Â
âNah.. youâre thinking of getting black out drunk at some party and then having sex with some girl youâll never speak to again,â raising your brows, smug that youâd sussed him out completely.Â
âIs that what you think of me?â jokingly placing his hand over his heart, shaking his head, âI donât even like parties that much anymore and actually I think youâre right, that would be a crazy night,â smiling to himself.Â
Because to him that did sound like a great night, and heâd kill to be able to do that with Robin and if it wasnât for the fact that she got so intensely paranoid that one time theyâd smoked together, theyâd probably do it more often.Â
âOh, well.. youâve surprised me,â giving him a small smile. You still had your reservations about him, but if he was good enough for Dustin, you were sure you could come to perhaps tolerate him.Â
âYeah, I do a lotta that nowadays.âÂ
âWell are you surp-,â youâre cut off by Dustin barging through the front door, nearly taking the damn thing off its hinges.Â
âSteve? Weâre gonna be late! Câmon!â he yells into the living room as if he wasnât the one who had shown up fifteen minutes late. Heâs huffing and puffing with his hands on his hips, clearly something inherited from your mother.Â
âWoah dude, chill out,â he looks at his watch and jumps up out of his seat, âokay shit- sorry uh, oops letâs go,â rushing over to Dustin. He turns at the last second, waving at you over his shoulder, âit was nice to meet you,â a genuine grin on his face.Â
âYou too,â you call back, watching as your brother drags him out of the house. Muffled voices arguing over what time the movie started and how dare Steve enter his house without him present.Â
Dustinâs still going on in the car after much push back from Steve that actually he was early and Dustin was the one who was late.Â
âYour sisterâs pretty cool,â Steve blurts out, driving along the bumpy road. He wants to rescind his sentence almost immediately after Dustin glares at him from the passengerâs seat.Â
âAbsolutely not. No, Steve. No.âÂ
âWhat?â flabbergasted that Dustin had so brazenly assumed he had some ulterior motive. He hadnât even said anything. Not yet anyway.Â
âJust no. I know you and I know what youâre thinking and Iâm putting a stop to it now,â Dustin cringes, mentally perturbed by the thought of you and Steve even speaking.Â
âWha- dude, I was just saying.. you barely speak about her.. thatâs all,â tapping on the leather steering wheel, playing it off rather smoothly, he thinks.Â
âI know my sisterâs cool.. way too cool for you, okay? So you should forget about it because it will never ever happen.âÂ
âI wasnât even gonna.. youâre a real pain in the ass, you know that?âÂ
-
Steveâs sat in the booth, opposite what must be the worst date of his life. Dear God, Tammy Thompson was hot but holy shit was she annoying. Her voice agitating his ear drums with every word, irritating and nasally as she rambled on about her singing âcareerâ. It wasnât much of a career, Steve thought. Singing the national anthem in your high school gym was hardly a career. He thought it was quite sad actually.Â
He nods along to her bullshit, maybe she would sound better when he got her into the back of his beemer. Well, he was hoping anyway.Â
âYou guys finished?â the familiar voice rings out across the table, his eyes darting from Tammy to find you standing at the end of the table with a fake grin plastered on your face.Â
âI didnât know you worked here,â he sounds confused, attention fully shifted from the blonde in front of him to you. Surely Dustin couldâve had the courtesy to let him know that you worked at his favourite date spot.Â
âUh.. yup, so youâre done?â still in customer service mode, trying desperately to ignore the awkwardness.Â
âOh, yeah.. thank you,â he smiles, pushing the empty plates toward you âhow long have you worked here.. Iâve never seen you,â positively baffled but happy nonetheless.Â
You shrug, âlike sophomore year,â confused why he seemed to care so much, âIâm just doing part time over the summer..â stacking the plates as quickly as possible, wanting nothing more than to get far away from the awkward date you had stumbled upon.Â
âThatâs cool, I mean, Iâm here a lot so..âÂ
Both you and Tammy flash him a look, granted hers was far more annoyed than yours. You mutter a small nice before scurrying off to the kitchen, relieved to be far from the impending disaster that was waiting to implode.Â
-
Somethingâs not right.Â
Even with Tammy practically climbing over the centre console to get to him, fully willing and eager.. heâs just not feeling it. Something or someone rather stuck in his head. They had been since last week and no matter how much heâd tried to shake it.. nadda.Â
He pulls away from Tammy, sighing pathetically, âIâm sorry.. dâyou mind if I just take you home? I donât feel great..â he hopes itâs at least half-convincing.Â
âAre you fucking serious Steve?â Tammy whines, staring across the car in utter disbelief. Â
He offers an apologetic smile, shuffling in his seat to get away from her, âyeah.. must be something I ate.. sorry,â grimacing at this incredibly awkward moment. He couldnât exactly tell her the truth, could he?Â
âWhatever,â crossing her arms over her chest, frowning as she re-buckles her seatbelt, starting straight ahead.Â
He starts the car with a sigh. She was a nice enough girl, but she just wasnât.. well, she just wasnât Dustin Hendersonâs mysterious older sister who just hadnât let this mind since youâd met last week. That was the problem.Â
She doesnât say a word as she gets out of the car, making sure to slam the door in his face when he leans over to say goodnight. Heâs sure sheâll tell all her bitchpack friends whoâll vow to ignore him until he smiles at them over the Family Video counter and theyâll forget all about it.Â
Why couldnât that just work on you?Â
-
You donât see Steve for another week. Dustin normally runs out of the house the second he hears Steveâs car in the driveway meaning you donât cross paths.
But now heâs sat in the exact same booth as last week, this time alone with a half empty cup of coffee in front of him.Â
Your legs sort of work on their own, carrying your body over to the booth. Itâs only when youâre stood at the end of the table do you realise you have no idea what you should even say to him.Â
âWhoâs the unlucky lady this week?â your mouth blurts out without second thought, startling him from staring out the window. His lips curling into a smile the second he realises itâs you.Â
âNo lady this week, flying solo,â internally dying from his choice of words. Yeah, that totally made him look cool.Â
âOh,â pulling the dirtied plate across the table, âTammy Thompson didnât work out then?â Why are you even asking? You shouldnât care about who he dates.Â
âNah.. we didnât really..â he mashes his hands together, âvibe,â smiling up at you from the seat. He obviously wasnât heartbroken over it.Â
âWell if itâs any consolation, I always thought she was a massive bitch,â and she was. One of those girls that prowled the halls waiting for somebody to humiliate. Bare in mind, Steve was too, he just picked on the weird boys rather than the girls.Â
Steve chuckles, âyeah, she was.. or is.. I donât know,â heâs sure that in her opinion, he was the bitch that didnât want to hook up with her because his âstomach hurtâ, and really that was a fair enough assertion.Â
You give him a quick smile before picking up the plate, beginning to walk away when his voice calls out from behind, âwhat time do you get off?âÂ
âNine.. why?â apprehensive as you answer. Spinning on your heel to face him.Â
âI can give you a ride home? I mean, if you want?âÂ
You pause just before you reach the counter. It seriously would beat walking home in the summer heat. Dustin would certainly have a few choice words when you showed up at home in Steveâs BMW, but who cares?Â
âOkay, yeah thatâd be great.. thanks,â giving him a tight lipped smile, âyou gonna sit there for the whole four hours?âÂ
âI- wh.. no,â laughing awkwardly because he hadnât exactly planned what he was going to do until nine but he had assumed itâd be fine if just hung out here. âIâve gotta go uh.. pick Robin up from work,â lie. He and Robin had worked the morning shift and she was off at some family dinner she had complained about all week.Â
âRobin Buckley?â you ask, slightly confused as to how the two of them even knew each other.Â
âYou know her?â he perks up.Â
âEh.. kinda, we were in band together.. how do you know her?â
Heâd love to tell you that they had become inseparable after nearly dying in a Russian basement with your little brother last summer. But he doesnât. Because you, like the majority of Hawkinâs residents, were still blissfully unaware of the weird underworld that lived beneath your town.Â
âWe worked together last summer and now weâre best friends I guess,â it sounded far too simple as he said it out loud.Â
He was an asshole in school and was well aware of that fact, someone like him would never have become friends with someone like Robin if it werenât for the Upside Down. But he was grateful nonetheless, and telling you the shortened story was much easier than opening the can of worms that was the Upside Down.Â
âOh..â you nod slowly, âyou really have changed, huh?â thinking back to Dustinâs constant appraisal of the new Steve and how you didnât really believe any of it.Â
âYeah.. I donât..â he clears his throat, âI donât know if I was an asshole to you in school but if I was then.. Iâm sorry,â looking sheepish as his head hangs low. In all honesty, he couldnât really remember you ever being at Hawkins High but felt an apology was due either way.Â
You nod, accepting the apology though the worst heâd ever done to you was the time he sat there and cackled as Carol Perkins knocked the pile of books out of your arm.Â
âYou want another cup of coffee or dâyou have to go?â still clutching onto his dirty plate.Â
He checks his watch, not that the time actually mattered as heâd leave here and probably end up driving around until it was socially acceptable to come back in. âI could do one more.. thank you,â grinning softly.Â
You slip into the kitchen, questioning the warm, fuzzy feeling that had settled in your chest. Convincing yourself that it was only because he was being nice to you. Nothing more.Â
-
Steve strolls in again at 8:40 after driving around the entire town, ending up parking in town and just watching the tiny clock in his dash until it turned 8:30 and he could slowly make his way back to the diner.Â
Itâs empty, has been pretty much all night bar the few regulars that seemed to spend their lives here. Youâre sat behind the counter flicking through the Hawkins Post someone had left behind, reading about the upcoming bake sale. Riveting stuff, really.Â
âYouâre early,â you point out, looking at the clock that had moved incredibly slow all day.Â
âI had nothing else to do so thought Iâd try and squeeze one more cup of coffee from you,â he grins cheekily, testing the boundaries of this incredibly new.. friendship?
You roll your eyes, motioning over to the pot, âhelp yourself,â sending one of the clean coffee mugs over the counter so he could do your job for you.Â
The clock slowly ticks over to nine and you do one last check around the place to make sure youâd done everything needed. Javie, the cook, had gone home already, thankfully cleaning the kitchen before disappearing. Begging you not to tell Kevin heâd slipped off early with a promise of whatever you wanted to eat on your next shift.Â
You turn the key in the door as Steve stands behind with his hands shoved in his pockets, âare you normally the only one in there at this time?â walking beside you to his car.Â
âNo, Javie normally finishes when I do but he had a date or some shit so he left early,â shaking your head. It wouldâve been useless to make him stay anyway.Â
Steve jumps in front of you, grabbing the handle before you got the chance, pulling the door open, âOh.. good, yeah thatâs good,â closing the door and clambering into his own side. He wants to believe that heâs not sure why the mention of Javieâs name made him feel so funny. Â
âYou sound disappointed.. were you planning on robbing me?â chuckling to yourself.Â
âNo! No.. what? It just seems unsafe for you to be there on your own so late..âÂ
âItâs nine pm Steve.âÂ
âYeah I know but.. there are a lotta weirdos in Hawkins yanno?â starting the car as quick as possible, not wanting to stick his foot in his mouth any further.Â
You smile, it was very kind of him to look out for you after all. âYeah.. Iâm in the car with one right now,â glancing at him with a shit eating grin.Â
âOh ha ha.. youâre so funny,â rolling his eyes in jest though his lips twitch into a small smile.Â
âI know that actually,â turning to watch the trees as they disappear behind you. The air is perfect, reminiscent of the summers you had here as a child.Â
Steve takes the opportunity to look over at you admiring the night sky. Sinking his teeth into his bottom lip, this was going to be the death of him.Â
Well, you were.Â
-
Steveâs itching to just ask him, get it out while heâs driving so Dustin canât run away.Â
âSo.. I have a question for you,â testing the waters before fully committing.Â
âUhh.. what could you possibly have to ask me?â Dustin asks, curious.Â
âWell.. I need you to ask your sister if sheâd maybe wanna come to the movies with me,â he holds up his hand to preemptively stop Dustinâs inevitable reaction, âI accidentally bought two tickets and I donât wanna let it go to waste, so donât start.âÂ
âSteve, I already told you that that is not happening.âÂ
âItâs not a date Dustin,â Steve hisses, âyou said she liked horror movies so.. I thought she might wanna come.. thatâs all.âÂ
Dustin looks incredulous, âsince when do you like horror movies?âÂ
âUh.. since forever?â lying through his teeth. Steve hated horror. Would point blank refuse to watch anything even remotely scary when Robin suggested it.Â
âYouâre a bad liar,â Dustin frowns, heâd had many of his own movie suggestions shot down by Steve for being inappropriate and too scary.Â
He rounds the corner, pulling up onto your drive. He was running out of time to convince Dustin to do this for him. And see, heâd do it himself but that would mean heâd undoubtedly end up a bumbling idiot in front of you and that was not what he was aiming for.Â
âCan you- will you please just ask her?â he begs, pleads even.Â
âFine,â Dustin rolls his eyes, sliding out of the car. His feet dragging along the pavement as he walks into your house, not bothering to give his usual wave to an idling Steve.Â
He slinks up the stairs, banging on your bedroom door. Get it out of the way and then he could mourn the loss of both his sister and his best friend as quickly as possible.Â
âYeah come in,â you call from the other side, closing the notebook.Â
âSteve asked me to ask you if you wanted to go and see some movie with him, he also wants me to tell you that he accidentally bought two tickets instead of one but I think you and I are both smart enough to know that isnât true,â your brother rolls his eyes, perched in your doorway.Â
You smile to yourself, rolling your eyes. It was childish but admittedly endearing, âtell him to ask me himself and Iâll think about it.âÂ
Dustin nods, frowning as he walks over to your bedroom window, leaning out of it to holler at Steve who was still sat in his car awaiting your answer, âshe told me to tell you to ask her yourself,â sticking his middle finger up at him before storming off into his own room.Â
You watch him leave, open mouthed before going to the window to find Steve looking up to your window. He points towards the door, shrugging. This really wasnât how heâd have liked this to go.Â
The door swings open and you blink at him, allowing him the opportunity to go first. This was his question after all.Â
âDâyou wanna come to the movies with me? I- Dustin mentioned that you like horror movies and I donât wanna waste this ticket.. itâs cool if not,â Christ, he really needed to stop hanging around Robin so much. She had a knack for being completely defeatist before even receiving her answer and it was clearly starting to rub off on him.Â
âYes, Iâll go to the movies with you,â smiling softly at him. He really was light years away from the dickhead you once despised, now just some shy guy trying to ask someone out on not-date-date.Â
âOkay,â he responds with far too much enthusiasm, âgreat.. Friday! I mean- Iâll pick you up on Friday.. eight oâclock,â cheesing as he walks back to his car. Throwing up a thumbs up before realising how stupid he looked and rushing to get into his car. Heart fluttering out of his chest.Â
-
Youâre shitting it.Â
It wasnât a date. No really, it wasnât.Â
But you couldnât help the nerves bubbling up in your stomach as you wait for him to pick you up.Â
âI think this is disgusting by the way,â Dustin pipes up, scowling as he paces the hallway. Desperately trying to conjure up a plan to stop you from going. He couldnât think of anything worse than his sister and his best friend dating. He shudders at the mere thought of it.Â
âWell itâs a good thing I didnât ask for your opinion,â rolling your eyes, peering out of the window to see if his car had pulled up yet. Â
âWhy canât you date any of the other losers in this town? Or someone at college? Why does it have to be Steve?â his shoulders slump, frown evident as he skulks into the living room.Â
âOh my God Dustin, stop it. Yanno, the more you complain about it, the more Iâm going to make sure it happens,â letting go of the blind and giving him a smug smirk. For his sake, it probably would just be a movie.Â
You werenât exactly Steveâs usual type so you were certain that the second someone from school spotted you together heâd probably get embarrassed and drop this little crush. But hey, you could entertain the idea for the summer and perhaps you also had a tiny, smidgen of a crush on him too.
The doorbell rings out and Dustin lets out a ghastly wail, rushing to answer the door before you could. âYou never come to the door for me!â he pouts, glaring at Steve who stood nervously on the front porch.Â
âBecause I donât like you,â Steve jokes, attention quickly pulled from your younger brother as you appear behind him. âYou look.. nice,â smiling as Dustinâs eyes ping pong between the two of you.Â
âThank you.. so do you,â barging past Dustin who looks positively distraught, âdonât cry too hard,â you call out, walking down the path beside Steve. The door slams when you reach his car and you share a look with Steve, giggling as he opens the door for you.Â
The second you sit, the nerves come spilling over. This was no longer just a silly thing you could tease Dustin about anymore, it was actually happening and you were here and he was here and you were about to go on a not-date-kinda-date.Â
Youâre both fairly quiet on the ride to the cinema, exchanging small talk about your days and the movie you were about to watch. It was fairly obvious that heâd bought these tickets specifically with you in mind, because Steve Harrington would not willingly watch Friday the 13th, especially not on his own.Â
âSo you accidentally got two tickets, huh?â eyeing him from across the car.Â
His cheeks flush, bottom lip trembling as he attempts to come up with something to explain his bullshit story, âI- fuck, no.. I didnât,â looking bashful as he pulls into the parking lot, âI didnât actually think youâd say yes.âÂ
âWhy?âÂ
Steve sighs as he turns off the ignition, âI donât know.. youâre like cool and in college and Iâm just some loser from high school,â shrugging half-heartedly, finally meeting your eyes.Â
âYouâre not a loser.. you were a loser but, I think youâre pretty cool now.âÂ
His eyes widen, his smile fighting to come out, âI think most people would say the opposite,â he certainly didnât hold the same level of prestige he had in school anymore. In fact, heâd sorta lost it in senior year when heâd decided that people like Tommy H and Carol were not the type he wanted to associate with.Â
And it wasnât like heâd lost it all, girls still fawned over him and the basketball team would still get excited to see him but he had kinda just slipped into the background. Another guy who had peaked in high school that was destined to stay in this dead end town with a dead end job and a wife heâd grow to loathe. At least, thatâs what he had always pictured.Â
âYeah well, Iâm not most people,â climbing out of the car. Not once in your life had you ever thought you would be telling Steve Harrington that you thought he was cool. Much less getting out of his car to go see a movie together.Â
Youâre met with a genuine smile from over the roof of the car, he doesnât need to speak for you to know that he appreciates your words.Â
For a moment you forget where you are until his eyes linger a little too long and your heart begins to pound again. Pulling your own gaze away and mumbling something about missing the trailers.Â
-
Itâs unfortunate and a little sickening but you can hardly focus on the film and even though itâs dark, you can feel his eyes shift to your face every few minutes, distracting you from the movie. You donât look back of course, keeping your eyes firmly glued to the screen.Â
His hand shifts suspiciously close to your knee, stopping just before he makes contact. Youâre trying your hardest not to overthink it. Heâs just.. moving his hand. Thatâs all.Â
Fuck.Â
You were fucked.Â
Your hands are practically trembling as you sit there. Finally gaining enough courage to look back at him the next time his eyes wander.Â
Steveâs not like you, see. Heâs a little nervous of course but heâs had years of experience with girls, knows all the tricks in the book to get them falling for him. And when it really came down to it, he could unleash his moves to have you right where he wanted. His eyes donât flicker back to the screen, they lower, gazing at your lips instead. He wants to do it. He does. Urging himself to just lunge forward and close the distance between you.Â
But youâre not like that. You wouldnât have even looked at him twice in high school, immediately and rightfully passing him off as the dickhead that he was. These tricks were futile on you.Â
âWatch the movie,â you whisper despite not watching it yourself, blinking rapidly as you feel your cheeks heat up. Praying that the dark of the cinema would shroud your flushed face.Â
His lips twitch before slowly pulling his eyes away, nodding to himself as an acknowledgement to be on his best behaviour.Â
It takes every single fibre of your very being to get through the rest of the movie without looking at him again.Â
âWell I actually enjoyed that,â he professes loudly, walking out of the theatre a few paces behind you.Â
âOh? Iâm surprised you actually saw any of it,â walking to his car in the pitch black parking lot.Â
âI wasnât talking about the movie,â grinning as he lays on that signature charm. Itâs shameless and you feel like a fool for even falling for it.Â
âShut up,â you mutter, pulling on the door handle as his car remains locked. He sidles up to the passenger side, one side of his mouth curled into a small smile.Â
âHow tired are you on a scale of one to ten?â mere inches from your face.Â
âHmm.. a five.âÂ
âGreat, get in,â leaning closer to open the door for you, outstretched arm keeping you between his body and the car. You swallow harshly, slipping past him and into the car.
Youâre not sure if you like this version of Steve, the one that had the confidence to make you a bumbling fool for him. Â
âWhere are we going?â you eventually pipe up, bewildered that you had just let this boy drive you to this mysterious location without any contest.Â
âYouâll see.âÂ
The very second he turns onto the darkened road you groan, knowing exactly where he had taken you, his motivations becoming increasingly clear.Â
âFucking skull rock?â you exclaim. Everyone had heard the rumours in school, this was his spot and girls were to be extremely appreciative if he brought them here. You shouldâve known really, he hadnât changed a bit.Â
âWell yes, but thatâs not why weâre here.. I swear,â only now realising how scummy this looked but the thought hadnât even crossed his mind until it had yours.Â
Your arms wrap over your chest, jutting your bottom lip out, âthen why are we here?â you sounded disgusted with him. How could you have been so stupid?Â
âBecause I-,â the car stops in the tiny lookout spot, âwait, get out of the car,â he instructs, hopping out of his side.Â
You donât move a muscle, refusing to fall for his tricks once again. So he walks around the car, opening up your door, âlook, I wanna show you something,â his tone is desperate and it makes you ever so slightly believe him.Â
There was no chance he was that eager to make out with you surely.Â
Your nostrils flare as you get out of the car, immediately wrapping your arms back around yourself. âWhat? What could you possibly have to show me out here?âÂ
âJust look,â pointing towards the sky. It was littered with stars, bright and twinkling with the view of Hawkins in the distance. It was breathtakingly beautiful, a sight you couldnât even begin to comprehend.Â
He chuckles, âI come here sometimes.. just to think and stuff,â scuffing his shoes on the loose stones, âI thought youâd appreciate something like this,â hands shoved into his pockets, gazing at you as you gaze at the sky.Â
âWow.. you can see everything from here,â still marvelling in the absolute beauty, blissfully unaware that he was doing the same, just not at the same beauty you were seeing.Â
âI thought youâd like it,â dragging his feet along to the bonnet of his car, leaning back against the maroon metal. âIâm a little offended that you just assumed that I was tryna get you here for any other reason though,â laughing softly, what more could he do to prove that he was no longer that meathead jock from school?Â
You finally break your gaze, looking at him as you join him on the bonnet. Heart pounding as your elbow brushes against his as you shuffle further up the car. Itâs so silly, you feel like a fool, trying your hardest to contain your flushing cheeks.Â
âIâm sorry..â admitting that perhaps you were a little harsh, âbut can you blame me? Weâve all heard the stories,â purposely knocking your elbow into his arm, wiggling your brows. Turning your attention back to the picturesque view in front of you.Â
âYeah yeah.. that was a long time ago, I told you, Iâm not like that anymore..â itâs only a tiny lie. He still made out with girls in his car and took them to darkened corners of your tiny town. But see, the difference was that he was actually trying to date these girls, mindless sex was no longer his goal.Â
âYeah I can see that now..â your shoulders slump, relaxing as your guard comes down, âthank you, this is a really cool spot and Iâm grateful you chose to share that with.. me,â smiling softly.Â
âYouâre like the second girl Iâve ever shown this to.. by the way.âÂ
âSecond?â poking fun at him.Â
âRobin came first, obviously,â choosing to ignore your little dig.Â
You had wondered why he wasnât just dating Robin, he was a changed man now and obviously the pair got on like a house on fire so why wouldnât he have tried it with her? Maybe he had and sheâd shut him down. She seemed cool enough in band, definitely not someone that would ever be interested in Steve, no matter how much he had changed.Â
âAhh.. obviously,â trying desperately not to sound jealous.Â
âSo you like it?â watching your face instead of the sky once again.Â
When you pull your eyes away from the sky to look at him, youâre taken aback to find him already staring back. âI love it,â the way the moon illuminated his face left you breathless, struggling to contain your heart in your chest.Â
âGood..â he smiles before descending into some ramble about the stars and how he had discovered it.Â
You werenât interested. Focused on one thing and one thing only. Deciding against your better judgement to just do it. It was utterly reckless and someday you might live to regret it but youâd regret it tomorrow if you didnât.Â
Pressing your lips to his, quietening his little tangent. It takes him a moment to register what was happening and you doubt yourself, wanting to pull away and run through the woods hoping to never see him again. But it finally clicks and he springs into action, masterful hand snaking its way through your hair, resting on the back of your head. Keeping you right there, pressed to him just like this forever.Â
Your hand nervously finds his cheek, brushing over the slight stubble that adorned his jaw. Thereâs no urgency, no ulterior motives. Pure and simple, only a desperate need to stay like this forever.Â
You pull away, lips still lingering over his. A small giggle erupts from your throat, crumbling under his stare. âSorry..â you mutter, still trying to catch your breath, âyou were saying something..âÂ
âSorry?â he exclaims, keeping his hand intertwined in your hair, âdonât ever be sorry for doing that.. like ever,â the stars reflecting off of his chestnut eyes back into yours, his features intricately lit up by the sky.Â
âOkay..â laughing slightly, âokay.. Iâll keep that in mind,â shying away from his eyes, dipping your head.Â
There was not one part of you that would have ever guessed that you would be the one to make a move on him first. Or that he could ever be so sweet, so kind and thoughtful and you feel awful for ever just assuming the worst of him without even giving him a chance.Â
Youâre pulled out of your head when his head dips down to match yours, âcan we do that again?â thumb tracing back and forth along your neck. You nod quickly, chest bubbling with excitement as his lips connect with yours once more.Â
It mustâve been gone three by the time you sneak back into your house. Praying that Dustin is already asleep as you sneak back up the creaking stairs.Â
Itâs too late. Youâve been caught.Â
âCome here,â he whispers harshly, peeking out of his bedroom door, his brows furrowed.Â
You oblige, slipping into his room and shutting the door quietly, âyou gonna give me a lecture?âÂ
âNo,â he sits cross-legged on his bed, âI was going to ask if you had a good time,â willing to put his pride behind him for the sake of his dear sister's happiness.Â
Your frown turns into a grin, joining him on his bed, âI did.. heâs really nice, Dusty,â moving the deconstructed lego set from his duvet so you could scoot closer. âIf you really donât like it.. I can tell him that we can just be friends,â smiling earnestly at your little brother, it would suck but after all, he was Steveâs friend first. Â
He sighs, swallowing his disgust, âyou donât have to do that..â this is hard for him to even get out, âif youâre happy then.. Iâm happy,â giving you his brotherly blessing.Â
You beam at him, âbut, I have some rules that youâre both gonna have to agree to,â setting his boundaries for your budding relationship.Â
âShut up,â you giggle, ruffling his mop of curls before collapsing back onto his bed.Â
Youâre happy. Genuinely happy and youâre not sure anything could happen to change that.Â
Letâs Give âEm Something to Talk About
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Femme!Henderson!Reader
Summary: Y/N Hendersonâs relationship with Eddie puts her at odds with Jason Carver and co.
Warnings: Reader uses she/her pronouns, bullying/harassment, slut shaming, allusions to sexual content (nothing sexual actually happens), Jason being a prick, swearing, Reader is Dustinâs sister but no physical descriptions are used and you can read it as an adopted sibling if you want, I think thatâs it but let me know if I missed something
A/N: Alright, this is the first Fic Iâve ever posted on here. Iâm honestly a little nervous, but hopefully you enjoy. Iâll probably end up posting this on my Ao3 too so Iâll link that at some point.
My Master List | Ao3
â
âIâm gonna miss youâ, Eddie whines as he leans against the locker next to yours.
âItâs one classâ, you reply as you swap out your English textbook for history, âthatâs, what, an hour?â
âActually I have Davisâs class next so it feels more like three hoursâ, Eddie says.
You snort. Mr. Davis has probably been around since the dinosaur era, and if there were to be a competition for most boring teacher at Hawkins High, he would win it hands down.
âItâs not funnyâ, Eddie teasingly pouts, âI might actually die of boredom.â
âAs much as I would hate for that to happen, Iâve got my own class to get to, so unfortunately youâre on your own for now,â you reply.
âAlright well, please tell the rest of Hellfire Iâm going to miss themâ, he tells you, âand feel free to wear that black skirt of yours to the funeral. The tight one. Itâs what I wouldâve wanted.â
You roll your eyes affectionately before pressing a quick kiss to his lips.
âYouâre so dramaticâ, you say, âIâll see you later.â
âIf I survive that longâ, he calls. You shake your head before turning the corner and heading into your history classroom.
âOkay, classâ, your teacher, Mr. Price announces once the bell rings, âIâve written some questions on the board. Youâll find the answers in Chapter 5 of your textbook. Write them down and turn them in by the end of class. You may work with a partner if youâd like.â
You pull your textbook out of your bag and flip to a clean sheet in your notebook. You donât have any friends in this class, so you figure you may as well just do it yourself and get it over with. That is, until a voice startles you as youâre about to start reading the first page of the chapter.
âHey, Y/N. Do you wanna work together?â
You blink up at the source of the voice and are pretty sure you must be hallucinating. Thatâs the only explanation you can think of as to why Jason Carver would be asking you to be his partner.
The two of you have been in the same grade since Kindergarten and you can't think of a single time in all those years that heâs directly acknowledged your existence. The closest thing you have to a connection with him is that your little brother is friends with one of his new Basketball recruits, but you kind of doubt he even knows or cares about that. Thereâs a few members of his little posse he could be asking to work with him, so you have no clue why heâd be asking you of all people. But, you donât have anyone else, so you shrug.
âSure, I guessâ, you say.
âGreatâ, he smiles, moving to sit down next to you.
âIâll get started on number 1â, you suggest, âmaybe you can do number 2 and weâll compare?â
âSureâ, he says sweetly. Youâre honestly getting a little freaked out by how friendly heâs being.
You both do your agreed upon work, and then switch off to show each other your answers.
âSo?â you ask when heâs finished reading yours, âdoes that seem right?â
âYeahâ, he replies, âyouâre good at this. You ever thought about being a tutor?â
âOh, no, not reallyâ, you say.
âSee, I just ask because our youth group has this program where some of us older members help the younger kids out after school and stuff.â
âOh, thatâs coolâ, you tell him, not really engaged the conversation. It all sounds well and good, but you really arenât interested in being a tutor at the moment.
âYou know, the church has a lot of great programsâ, Jason continues, and youâre not sure what any of this has to do with the Byzantine empire, which is what youâre supposed to be discussing.
âOkayâ, you say.
âThey do a lot of outreach, a lot of stuff to help people who have lost their way.â
âLost their way?â you inquire, a small part of you beginning to understand whatâs actually going on.
âYeah. You know. Made bad choices, got mixed up with the wrong people.â
âUm, I think we should just get back to the assignmentâ, you suggest, uncomfortable with the discussion and not wanting it to go any further.
âLookâ, Jason sighs, âwhat Iâm trying to say is, I donât know you very well, but you seem like a nice girl. Iâd hate to see you go down a bad path.â
Okay. You get it now, and itâs starting to piss you off.
âThank you, but Iâm doing just fineâ, you insist.
âYouâve been hanging around with Eddie Munsonâ, Jason says, as if itâs some scandalous secret and not just you spending time with your boyfriend, âyou really shouldnât do that, you knowâŚâ
You stare at him, a little dumbfounded he would just up and say such a thing to you.
âYou canât be seriousâŚâ, you say.
Jason leans in to you, a deadly serious expression on his face.
âIâve heard about guys like him beforeâ, he tells you, âI know the stuff theyâre into.â
Yeah, so do you. Itâs tabletop role playing games, which is about the least nefarious activity you could possibly think of. Jason clearly doesnât see it that way, though, because heâs still going on.
âAnd I know they like to lure innocent people like you into their little organizations. Iâm telling you, Munson is bad news. You should stay away before you get hurt.â
You seriously have to hold yourself back from laughing right in Jasonâs face. Youâre not sure what reality heâs living in, but it clearly isnât the same one you are. Last weekend, you and Eddie had watched Terms of Endearment and heâd started to cry (well started tearing up at least, even sniffled a little, though he vehemently denied it). Thereâs not a single situation in which you can ever imagine him causing you intentional harm.
âOkay, you know whatâ, you say, âI think Iâm gonna finish the rest of the assignment alone, thanks.â
Jason grabs your arm gently but firmly. âIâm serious, Y/N. Heâs dangerous. Stay away from him before you end up hurt or killed.â
Youâre really not sure what the most offensive part of all this is. Itâs either that Jason thinks that somehow Eddie Munson, your lovable dork of a boyfriend,is secretly an evil Satanist cult leader, or that youâre apparently too stupid or naive to make that kind of judgment for yourself. Maybe itâs that he volunteered to work with you on an assignment and acted all friendly with you just so he could get this opportunity to preach to you about your supposedly âdangerousâ lifestyle. Heâs never given you the time of day before, after all.
âI donât know what it is you think you see in him, but I promise you itâs not going to end well.â
You snort. Is he, what, jealous or something? Heâs got a girlfriend, after all, and plenty of other girls whoâd be willing to take her place if she were to leave him. Itâs kind of sad that heâs apparently so insecure that the mere thought of Eddie Munson getting female attention is enough to have him losing his shit like this.
âWhateverâ, you spit, âjust leave me alone.â
He glares at you, but ultimately turns his attention to his textbook and doesnât speak to you for the rest of the class.
-
You happily shove the encounter out of your mind once the bell rings. Youâre perfectly content with the social circle you keep, and youâre not going to let some jock with an inflated sense of self importance change that.
Jason apparently doesnât do the same because he spends lunch glaring at you from his table. Granted, him shooting disgusted looks in the general direction of the Hellfire Club is a regular occurance, but today heâs making it obvious his ire is directed specifically at you.
âWhat the fuck is his problem?â Eddie asks.
âI dunnoâ, you shrug, âheâs just an asshole.â
Eddie peers at him for a moment and you can see a familiar glint of mischief twinkle in his eye. Before you can comment, heâs dramatically pushing himself to his feet and sauntering over to Jason and company.
âWhat do you want?â Jason demands.
âCouldnât help but notice you staringâ, Eddie says, âjust wanted to let you know that Iâm flattered, but unfortunately you arenât really my type. Sorry.â
âFuck offâ, Jason barks, âdisgusting freak.â
âDonât take it too hardâ, Eddie says, giving him a joking pat on the shoulder before making his way back over to you. You stifle a laugh at the indignant look plastered on Jasonâs face. Eddie shoots you a proud grin and you shake your head affectionately. Jason clearly doesnât know shit about âguys like Eddie.â
-
The next few days pass by uneventfully. Jason doesnât try talking to you again, which youâre thankful for. Wednesday starts out normally, you go to history, and Jason roundly ignores your presence. Then you have to go to your next class, which is gym.
Definitely not a favorite of yours, and you donât even have Eddie in your class to ease the pain. You make it through your warm ups, and then the coach has you split up to practice your volleyball serves. Everythingâs going well until Andy, one of Jasonâs buddies, approaches you out of nowhere.
âHey, Hendersonâ, he says, a smirk on his face, âyou think you could score me some weed?â
You look at him, confused. You donât get involved in Eddieâs side hustle, so youâre not sure why heâd ask you.
âWhat?â
âOh, I just figured you probably get a good discountâ, he goes on, âI mean, thatâs why you let Munson fuck you, right?â
You freeze in shock, your cheeks starting to grow hot. You canât say youâre used to people making comments about your sex life, especially not to your face.
âI mean, I gotta sayâ, Andy continues, a cruel glint in his eye, âI didnât take you for a slut. But come on. Spreading your legs for that freak? Jesus, thatâs sad. You know, Iâd be happy to show you a good time, since youâre so desperate for it.â
You can only stand there, mouth agape. Sure, youâve gotten a gross comment or two from a male classmate before, but nothing like this. You certainly have never been called a slut before. You try to formulate a response, but you canât come up with one. It doesnât matter anyway, because the coachâs whistle rings out, signaling for you all to hit the changing rooms. You dash out of the gym, more than pleased to be away from Andy.
You hop in the shower in the locker room, take a few moments to shake off the discomfort of the interaction. Youâre not entirely successful in that endeavor, because it keeps playing in your mind even after youâre dressed and making your way back into the hallways.
You have no idea where the hell Andy came up with all of that. At this point, itâs common knowledge that you and Eddie are dating, but you donât know where this idea that youâre sleeping with him for drugs came from. It couldnât be further from the truth.
âHey, Beautifulâ, youâre distracted from your thoughts by Eddie, who comes happily bounding over to you. His face falls when he sees the look on your face though.
âYou okay?â he asks.
âIâm fineâ, you say. Something about the idea of telling Eddie about what happened leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Itâs embarrassing, and you definitely donât want him to feel like itâs somehow his fault that Jason and Andy are giving you a hard time.
Besides, it doesnât matter. Once again, nothing they say about you or Eddie is true. You canât let some stupid jocks get to you.
-
Honestly, you probably couldâve been okay, if that was the end of it. Unfortunately, things only get worse the next day.
As you make your way to your seat in history, you catch sight of Amber and Samantha, two cheerleaders who like to hang around Jason and the others, whispering as you walk by.
You ignore them, figuring youâre being paranoid and they probably arenât even talking about you, but when you sit down, Amber turns and looks you right in the eye.
She raises her voice then, clearly intending for you to hear what sheâs saying.
âI hope sheâs gotten testedâ, she tells Samantha, âI canât imagine what nasty shit the Freak is passing on to her.â
You take a deep breath, turning away from her.
It doesnât matter, you tell yourself, itâs not true.
âI hope the drugs are worth it,â Samantha says.
You clench your jaw as you slip into your seat. It shouldnât bother you so much. It's not true, and even if it were, who cares what Amber and Samantha have to say about it?
Youâre dating Eddie because you like him. You like the way heâs always joking around and making you laugh, you like that he makes a point of looking out for Dustin and his friends, you like the way he looks at you with those big puppy dog eyes and flashes that mischievous grin. Cheap access to his drugs has never even crossed your mind.
You shouldnât concern yourself with what they say, you know that, but hearing your name in connection with âslutâ grinds at you.
-
During gym class, you do your best to avoid Andy, because everytime he notices you looking at him, heâs making some suggestive gesture at you. You donât bother telling anyone about it, since Andyâs on the basketball team and the coach would probably take his side.
In the hallway, you accidentally bump into Patrick from the basketball team. You mutter an apology, which he accepts, but his girlfriend gives you the dirtiest look youâve ever seen.
âDonât talk to herâ, you hear her tell him as you walk away, âsheâs a slut.â
-
All of the gossip has put you in a foul mood by the time you get to your second to last period of the day, which happens to be study hall.
Like always, itâs in the cafeteria, with you and a bunch of other students of varying grade levels all sitting around doing your homework. Technically, youâre not supposed to talk, but the teacher in charge is way too underpaid to worry about enforcing that, so you can usually get away with conversation as long as things donât get too rowdy.
Youâre not taking advantage of that today, rather trying your best to distract yourself by actually doing your homework. Youâre halfway through summarizing Act 3 of Hamlet when you hear someone say your name.
âHey, Y/NâŚâ
Youâre confused when you look up to find Lucas standing there. Technically, youâve known him for years, but itâs not like youâve ever associated with him outside the time he spends with Dustin.
âWhat?â you ask, a little meaner than you mean to.
âI just thought you should know thatâŚwell, I think Jason has been going around saying things about you.â
Of course. You shouldâve known Jason was behind this. Jason fucking Carver. Captain of the Basketball Team. Active member of the local church. Son of one of the most respected families in Hawkins. Heâs clearly used to people listening to whatever he has to say. Apparently, his ego couldnât handle you dismissing his comments about your relationship with Eddie.
Jesus, youâd always known he was a bit of an asshole, but this is a level of pettiness youâd never expected, even from him.
âDonât tell him I told youâ, Lucas adds, âbut I just thought you should know.â
âThank youâ, you say. Youâre definitely glad to have that piece of information.
-
The next day, you storm into Mr. Priceâs classroom with righteous fury coursing through your veins. You bypass your desk and instead march straight up to Jason.
He pauses his conversation with Andy and Samantha when he sees you approach.
âWhat the hell is wrong with you?â You demand.
âExcuse me?â Jason asks.
âI know youâve been starting rumors about meâ, you tell him, âwhat exactly is your problem, Jason?â
âMe? I donât have a problemâ, Jason insists, âI just think itâs fair the men of Hawkins High get a warning about your âextracurricularâ activities.â
You can feel heat flood your cheeks.
âYouâre a dick, Jason!â you hiss.
âYou know, Y/Nâ, Jason retorts, âI actually feel bad for you. I mean, no decent man is ever going to want you when they find out youâve been giving it up to some trailer trash freak.â
âYou donât know what youâre talking aboutâ, you snap.
âBelieve me, I know exactly what happens to girls who hang around with filthy, Satan-worshiping scumbagsâ, he says, âand you know what? Iâm not going to feel sorry for you when theyâre finding your body dumped in the woods.â
âGet over yourself!â
âWhateverâ, Jason shakes his head, âIâm not gonna take the attitude from some little slut.â
Youâre not fully in control of yourself during what happens next. One second youâre standing there listening to Jason degrade you, the next your fist is connecting with his face.
He stands there, stunned for a moment, before opening his mouth to say something. He doesnât get the chance though, because Mr. Price gets to it first.
âMs. Hendersonâ, he gasps, âMr. Carver, what on earth is going on here?â
âShe punched me in the faceâ, Jason spits accusingly.
âI-IâŚIâm sorry IâŚâ
âEnoughâ, Mr. Price sighs, âI want both of you going to the principalâs office right now!â
-
Youâre in deep shit. That much is immediately clear. You punched Jason Carver in the face. Itâs not like you even claim it was self defense, since he didnât do anything physical to you.
âSoâ, Principal Higgins sighs, âtell me what happened again?â
âShe punched me in the faceâ, Jason hisses.
âIs that true?â
âYesâ, you sigh, âbut he called me a slut.â
Principal Higgins rubs his temple, processing the information. Meanwhile, Jasonâs gaze is fixed firmly on you, his eyes full of hatred.
âMr. Carverâ, Higgins says finally, âthat is not appropriate language to use in regards to another student. You may go back to class, but I better not hear about something like this again.â
Jason stands and marches out of the office, as if he has a right to be pissed about Higginsâ scolding. You suppress the urge to roll your eyes. Of course he gets a slap on the wrist. Nobody wants to punish the star basketball player. Youâre certain that if it were anyone else, Eddie or Dustin or one of the other Hellfire Club members, they definitely wouldnât be getting off so easily.
âNow, as for you Ms. Hendersonâ, Higgins says, âwe do not allow for any sort of violence in this school. However, in all your years at this school, you have never had to receive any form of discipline. So Iâm willing to be flexible here. Normally, something like this could be grounds for suspension, but since this is your first time, I say itâs two weeks detention after school starting next Monday. Does that sound fair to you?â
Not really, no, but you canât say that.
âYesâ, you reply instead.
âAlright. Good. Now go back to class. And Ms. Henderson, I sincerely hope I wonât have to see you in my office again.â
-
Youâre in a bad mood when Mr. Priceâs class finally ends. Youâve gone your entire high school career without getting a detention and now youâve ruined that over some pompous dick bag. Speaking of, Jason has been staring daggers at you since you returned to class, and is continuing to do so even now as youâre leaving.
Thereâs a tense, awkward moment where you both stand there in the hallway, glaring at each other, but itâs broken when the force of a body colliding with your back almost takes you off your feet. Jason is forgotten when a pair of arms wrap around your waist from behind.
âEddieâ, you huff playfully.
âHowâd you know it was me?â he asks as you turn around to face him.
âCause you canât keep your hands to yourself, Munsonâ, you reply.
âDonât blame meâ, he replies, âyou know Iâm powerless to resist your charms.â
Before you can reply heâs pulling you close and beginning to press kisses to your cheek. You know the two of you are making a scene, and on any other day you might be a little self conscious about it, but today youâre just glad to have him around.
His kisses stop suddenly and you realize heâs stopped because heâs finally noticed Jasonâs hateful glaring. Unfazed as always, he just flashes a cocky smile and gives Jason a mocking impression of a friendly wave. Jason makes a face like heâs wishing for both you and Eddieâs violent deaths.
âGeezâ, Eddie comments, âhe looks pissed.â
âUm, yeah, probably because I punched him in the faceâ, you mutter.
Eddieâs eyes widen in obvious surprise.
âHe had it comingâ, you add, âhe was being a Dick.â
You know you donât have to defend yourself to Eddie. He knows better than anyone how nasty Jason can be.
âMy, my, Fair Lady Hendersonâ, he smiles, âI dare say that was very Metal of you.â
âYeah, well, Higgins didnât think soâ, you reply, âI got two weeks detention for it.â
âOlâ Higgins never did have a sense of humorâ, Eddie says, âbut from where Iâm standing, youâre basically a hero.â
âReally?â
âHell yeahâ, Eddie tells you, âJason and his goons have been making our lives miserable for years.â
You canât help but smile at that. Youâre definitely not happy with the dayâs events, but knowing Eddieâs on your side makes it a little more bearable.
-
On Monday you begrudgingly make your way to Mrs. Clineâs room for your first day of detention.
âMs. Henderson?â she asks when you walk in.
âYeahâ, you say, a little embarrassed.
âWonderfulâ, she says, checking your name off of a list in front of her, âplease take a seat.â
Thereâs only two other people in there with you, so you just pick a seat as far from them as possible and sit down.
âAlrightâ, Mrs. Cline says, âlooks like everyoneâs here exceptâŚâ
âIâm here.â
You look up in surprise to see Eddie come walking into the room.
âAh, yes, Mr. Munsonâ, Mrs. Cline says dryly, âwhat a surprise. Please take a seat.â
You know that Eddie isnât a stranger to detention, but itâs weird that he didnât mention anything to you when youâd told him about it. He walks over to the desk next to yours, looking way too pleased for someone whoâs about to serve a stint in detention.
âWhat are you doing here?â you ask.
âOh, you know, got caught vandalizing the boyâs locker room during free periodâ, he tells you.
âWhat? When?â
âFridayâ, he says with a satisfied smirk.
You frown. This mustâve happened after the whole Jason thing on Friday which meansâŚ
Which means Eddie did it knowing that you were also going to be in detention.
âEddieâ, you say, âdid you get detention just because I did?â
âI couldnât let you have all the fun, could I?â he grins.
You canât help but smile along with him.
âMr. Munson, Ms. Hendersonâ, Mrs. Cline calls from her desk, âno talking during detention.â
Eddie mimes zipping his lips and waits until Mrs. Cline looks away before giving you a playful wink. You stifle a giggle.
You donât know Jason all that well, but youâre pretty sure he would never dream of landing himself in detention just to keep his girlfriend company. Youâve never seen him make a scene in the middle of the hallways to get her to smile. Thatâs the thing about this that really gets under your skin. Jason and the others donât know shit. They think that just because Eddie doesnât fall into their narrow definition of âacceptableâ, he must be scary and dangerous. They think that just because youâre not afraid of him, you must be dirty and corrupted. Theyâre too close-minded to look closer and see that Eddie is the sweetest boyfriend you could ever imagine, that you spend time with him because he makes you happy. Theyâd rather write him off as a freak and you off as a slut than accept that maybe their perception is wrong.
Youâre far from being a violent person, but you canât say you regret what you did. Jason deserved to be put in his place, and itâs not like you did any serious damage to him anyway. Youâre glad you stood up for yourself, for Eddie. Youâve probably tacked âpsycho bitchâ onto your already unflattering âwhoreâ reputation, but at this point, youâre not sure you care. If being a freak means you get to spend your days with the love of your life, you will gladly accept that label.
-
After the designated two hours are up, Mrs. Cline dismisses you all.
âWell, that wasnât so badâ, you say as you and Eddie start making your way through the hall.
âNahâ, he replies, âI mean itâs boring but itâs not bad.â
âDonât get me wrong, Iâm definitely not planning on having to do this againâ, you continue, âbut itâs bearable.â
Eddie nods.
âIâm sorry, by the wayâ, he adds.
âFor what?â
âJason and the others. Theyâve been giving you a hard time, right?â
âYeahâ, you shrug, âit is what it is. Not your fault.â
âI mean it kind of isâ, Eddie replies, âtheyâre only doing it because youâre dating me.â
âEddieâ, you say, âJasonâs an asshole, okay? Thatâs not on you. If he canât handle our relationship, then fuck him.â
That gets a grin out of Eddie.
âYou know, youâre getting to be quite a rabble rouser, Hendersonâ, he jokes.
âIâm learning from the bestâ, you tease back.
Eddieâs smile widens. He follows you out to your car and then presses a soft kiss to your lips.
âSee you tomorrow, Sweetheartâ, he says and then heads off to his van. You watch him go, butterflies still lingering in your tummy from the contact.
If youâd actually had any doubts about Eddie, they wouldâve disappeared in that moment. That feeling, itâs a one of a kind thing. No oneâs ever managed to give it to you before, and youâre not sure anyone else ever will. You love Eddie. He loves you. Heâs sweet, and silly and he treats you right. If your peers want to believe a bunch of bullshit about you two, then let them. You know what you have, and youâre not going to let them ruin it for you.
Grinning to yourself, you hop in your car, put the Black Sabbath tape you borrowed from Eddie into the player and head home.
A KING AND A QUEEN â
THE LINE | Memories of An Old Friend
pairings: Steve Harrington x Fem!Henderson!Reader
words: 2.0k
summary: your final homecoming football game in Steveâs POV.
Mac DeMarco â Another one , Joy Ciara (cover) â The One That Got Away
Hawkins Highschool. October 12th, 85â.
Like usual, the Hawkinsâ football team was losing. Despite how hard the seniors at Hawkins would pray, their beloved football team would still lose the homecoming football game. But Steve wasnât there for the football game, he was there for you.
From the bleachers, along with the rest of the student body, Steve watched you from across the field, dressed up in white. All pretty like a princess, or, soon to be, a queen. Even from afar he could see he could see your giddy smile that you were desperately trying to hide.
Steveâs stomach did a back flip when you started walking down the field, mother and brother at your side, the announcer beginning.
âY/N Henderson, accompanied by her mother, Claudia, and her younger brother, Dustin. After high school, Y/N plans to attend,â Steve couldnât pronounce the name of your future school if he tried, âcollege and become an author.â
The announcement of your future was euphoric for you to hear, he could see it on your face, but that didnât prevent Steveâs stomach from dropping.
He knew you were going to leave eventually, you had too much potential to stay in a silly town like this. Yet, hearing it out loud from someone elseâs voice, not your usual sweet voice as you daydreamed with head in your hands on the counter of Family Video as Steve pretended he wasnât listening, made it feel real.
He wanted to be happy for you, but the thought of you leaving him Hawkins behind made him feel sick.
âY/N gives special dedication to Heather Hathaway, a friend who recently passed in the Hawkins Mall fire along with town Sheriff, Jim Hopper. May they rest in peace.â
Beside him, Robin shifted, and heâs sure that your little monster hunting group was looking at each other, but Steve couldnât seem to take his eyes off you.
His eyes never strayed from you, even when you stood between Nancy, his ex girlfriend and your best friend, and Chrissy Cunningham, another one of your friends. You stood in the center of four girls on the homecoming court. He wasnât sure what was wrong with him, but he couldnât so much as spare another girl a glance. They just seemed so insignificant compared to you.
Steve swore he had never seen anything that could compare to the sight of your jaw dropping when the crown was placed on top of your head. Your hand went to grab your tiara, pulling it into your head tightly as you barked an incredulous laugh full of joy.
Applauds followed, but Steve swore he was the loudest, regardless of Lucas and Mike screaming a few bleachers below him.
After quick side hugs to your friends, Steve watched intently as you ran to your Dustin and your mom as swiftly in possible with your heels.
Pictures followed, and after a picture with the court and homecoming king, you were swarmed with a crowd of people. Steve barely made his way through to you, but when he did, he stopped moving, letting the crowd shift around him despite him feeling the world had stopped spinning for a moment.
Billy Hargrove looked at you like you hung the moon, and Steve wanted to rip his arm off your shoulder and replace it with his, but he couldnât. He wasnât yours, and you were certainly not his, the mass of teenage boys eager for a picture with you proved that. Steve wasnât special, and he was delusional if he ever thought he had a chance with you.
Steve didnât stay long enough to watch your eyes scan the crowd, looking for a familiar face. He hadnât seen your shoulders sag in disappointment when you couldnât find him, or the way your eyes brightened at the sight of him walking into the school, hands dipped in his pockets.
â
Steveâs knuckles rasped against where your desk had been last year, the seat next to his in the AP statistic class you had convinced him to take.
He shook his head at the memories of you tutoring him on the car rides to and from school, in the library, each otherâs houses. He remembered the days your patience wore thin, the days when he stayed for dinner at your house so he could continue studying with you past six, the days you forced Dustin out of your room so you could get some work done, the days you baked him cookies when passed his tests. Heâd survived the class with a C+, thanks to you.
Too focused on reminiscing, Steve hardly heard your heels clacking until you were in the doorway.
âGuess King Steve has been dethroned,â you said, sounding pleased with your own wit. The nickname he only let you call him flowed off your lips with ease.
âFinally,â Steve joked, turning to look at you. âThat guy was an asshole.â
Steve watched as you place your bouquet of flowers onto the closest desk to the door before coming towards him, your cheeks looking flushed. He realized you mustâve rushed out to find him.
âRight?â you agreed, teasing. Uncontrollable giggles spilled from your throat.
It felt like a breathe of fresh air to have you this close to him, the closest you had been all day. Steve hadnât really how much he had missed you. He took the moment to admire you.
Your hair was curled in a bun, strings of frizz framing your face, but not as nicely as the golden tiara on your head did. The tiara was like the final piece of a puzzle, completing your faultless look. You looked perfect, but something about your dressâ the way it hugged your curves, how it showed the right amount of cleavage. Your dress made you look divine.
Somewhere, in the back of his mind, Steve was sure that heâd get to see you in white dress again.
âI thought you left,â you admitted, an arm going to hug yourself. Your fingers brushed against your forearms for comfort, a nervous tick Steve had picked up when you two had gotten close in your junior year of Highschool.
Steve felt ashamed hearing your worried tone. He had thought about it, leaving and going home, prepared to call you later that night, ready to lie and say he had caught food poisoning and didnât want to spoil your night. He was glad he stayed. If he hadnât, he wouldâve never seen how gorgeous you looked that night.
âWithout wishing you congratulations? You think that low of me, Sunshine?â Steve whistled. He tilted his head, lips curved into a smile.
You dipped your head, but Steve could still spot your blissful expression, cheeks full from your smile. Steve swore he saw you blush at the nickname. Then, you looked up at him like he was something worth looking at.
With an ounce of hesitance, you shrugged, âWhatâd you think?â
âAbout what?â Steve asked, oblivious as ever.
Playfully, you rolled your eyes. âAbout me?â you huffed, gesturing your hands to yourself in emphasis.
Steveâs heart raced. The way you looked was setting off a fire deep inside him that he wasnât sure he could ever put out. You looked godly, and if Aphrodite was real, Steve was sure that you were her favorite child. Steve would fight hundreds of millions of demogorgons, demo-dogs, any monster from the upside down to see you like this. Hell, heâd sacrifice himself to them if this was the sight that would welcome him to heaven.
But before he could say anything, you laughed, your normal snort that reminded him you were the same girl from yesterday; the same girl that almost crashed his car when he tried teaching you how to drive, the same that made him buy her books and milkshakes. The same girl who insulted his taste in movies and music. The same girl who saved his life more times than he could count.
You were the same girl he thought was absolutely perfect despite your, at least he thought they were, breathtaking imperfections.
Smiling, you said, âIn all seriousness, Steve, my mom wants a picture of us. Dustin wants to be in it too, says itâs foreshadowing something. I didnât bother asking what.â
Steve hummed, drawling closer. Itâs now or never, he told himself.
âI think theyâre going to have to wait.â
You cocked your head in confusion. For once in your entire life, you were the oblivious one. âWhyâs that?â
âI want you to myself for a little bit,â Steve shrugged nonchalantly. âIs that too much to ask?â
Steve watched your lips part. You blinked, stunned, before brushing back a strand of frizz behind your hair. âN-no,â you stammered.
âNo?â Steve repeated, your bashfulness giving him confidence. He looked down at you, eyes hazy.
âNo, it isnât,â you shook your head lightly. âIt isnât too much to ask. Not at all.â
Smiling down at you, Steve bathed in the way you watched him. He adjusted the crown on your head. âYou look like a queen tonight, giggles.â
Mischievously, you rolled your eyes. âReally,â your voice was laced with sultry, âKing Steve?â
Steve sucked in a breath. He ignored that nagging voice in his head that told him you were too good for him (you were but that was beside the point). He reached to caress your face, the thumb of his hand brushed your cheek. You leaned into his touch, and Steve watched as your eyes fluttered shut when he slowly started to lean in.
Flash interrupted the two of you.
You bounced away from him, but Steve stayed in his place. He didnât bother to look away from you, his lips still parted as he watched your chest heave wildly as you looked at Steveâs cockblocker the culprit.
âMom!â you scolded, rushing toward where your mother stood in the doorway, where you had stood minuted ago.
âSorry! You two just looked to cute,â your mom apologized, unapologetically, waving the new picture dry. âDusty had me come looking for you. He really wants that picture.â
You lowered your voice, glancing back at Steve like you didnât want him to hear you say, âHe couldnât have waited five more minutes?â
Your mother pouted, Steve could see where you got it from, and her voice dipped lower in a whisper so he couldnât hear. Slightly, your eyes widened and you glanced at the photo, flustered.
Hesitantly, you turned him, cheeks red. âCâmon Steve,â you said gently. âDusty buns needs a picture.â
Steve chuckled, dropping his head before walking towards you, walking you back to the football field with a hand on your lower back, your bouquet of flowers in his hand.
Dustin gave him a copy of the pictures several weeks later.
There were two photos of you, him, and Dustin; one where you all smiled politely, Dustin on Steveâs right, you on his left, and another where you held an eye roll, arms crossed over your chest and Dustin and Steve argued beside you over something minuscule.
There was one of you two, both of you looking at the camera charismatically, a purple-pink sunset behind you. (He put the picture in his wallet).
The last photo, was slightly blurry, but that didnât stop Steve from turning to red at the sight of his hand on your cheek, your eyes closed, him leaning in.
Steve hid that photo in a shoebox under his bed. Y'know, for safe keeping. And looking at it now, months later. Without you. He knows one thing.
He shouldâve kissed you.
This has been in my drafts for a while and i was meaning to post this after i finished the line series or whatever but i think it itâs good and canât make myself write sooooo⌠here! đŠˇ
Eddie Munson x Mom! Reader.
TW: Children
Chapter 2
When Eddie awoke, he noted the missing weight on his chest but wasnât concerned figuring her mother had taken her from him sometime in the night, or at this point: morning.
He didnât hear the quiet padding on the carpet as Jovie made her way back to him. Eddie had easily become her next favorite person. He was something new, she liked new.
She stared at him as Eddie lay with his eyes still closed. âLeave him be Jovie,â y/n said softly, careful to not wake Eddie who unbeknownst to her was already awake.
âMama, make breakfast?â The tiny being asked, not at all quiet. Eddie heard y/n snort and found it to be the most adorable sound. She answered the child too quietly for Eddieâs ears to pick up but heard them or at least y/n retreat into the kitchen.
âDude get up,â Mike said nudging Eddieâs feet. Eddie quickly flipped off the wheeler boy and opened his eyes, wincing when the light hit them. Mike was flipping Eddie off as he sat up. âVery nice Wheeler,â Eddie says rolling eyes.
Jovie gasped as she heard his voice, and padded her way over to him leaving her mother in the kitchen. âLike breakfast?â She asked him, grabbing his attention with her broken speech.
He smiled at her. Taking in her pigtails and almost too-long tee. âOh man I love breakfastâ Eddie wasnât sure where this came from: The sudden knowledge of how to say things to the tiny being.
Jovie held out her hand, and Eddie offered his much larger one. Her small hand wrapped around just two of his fingers and pulled on him. This action only barely jerked his arm instead of pulling him up like she had planned.
Eddie stood, letting her lead the way. Y/n stood at the counter whisking what looked to be eggs with a fork in a large porcelain blue bowl. "Help yourselves" she spoke not looking up from her task of whisking.
Eddie grabbed a plate and made one for Jovie seeing as the other teens were piling food on their own plates, not bothering to leave enough for the child. Once he piled food onto her plate he then stared at the plastic baby blue highchair. "How the f-" he stopped himself short, "How does she get in this thing" he asked, terrified to break the foreign technology.
y/n came and slipped the child in as if it were nothing then just resumed making breakfast for the ravenous teen boys. "Thank you for feeding her" She offered Eddie a smile that sent a fuzzy feeling into his stomach.
"She probably wouldn't get to eat otherwise" Eddie joked, y/n laughed. He prayed to any god that she wouldnât see the blush that spread across his face.
âYouâre probably rightâ she smiled. Her smile quickly faltered as she concentrated, mind mulling over her next words. Her lips pursed as she spoke, âI have an extra ticket to go see this band, would you consider going?â He blinks, taken aback but she just continues before he can speak âMy friend flaked and you look like you would enjoy Crusaderâ
âWait, you have tickets to see Crusader?â He asks, more in awe that she even knew who Crusader was, she definitely wasnât that type of girl, at least he thought she wasnât.
âYes, I just asked you to go with meâ she shot back. Even her sarcasm was attractive to him, âcan you hear under all that hair?â This was a tease, one that got him to smile.
âWhen is it?â He asked. He then learned it was Saturday at seven. He felt like this was an easy decision. Eddie had been dying to see this band. "Works for me"
They talked details, deciding y/n was going to drive. Sheâd also pick him up being as she would already be out dropping Jovie off with the babysitter. Eddie was very excited for this Saturday.
-
âHey, are you ready to have some fun?â Steve asked the tiny girl who stood in front of him unamused at his overly excited tone. He glances up at y/n and says, âtough crowdâ
The joke caused a snort to sound from y/n. âI don't know how fun sheâll be, she didnât sleep well.â Steve offers a sympathetic smile and holds out hands to pick up the tiny human.
Jovie waddles her way into his arms, he squeezes her to him and lifts her into the air. Steveâs careful to sling her on his hip. Once she was settled he held his free arm out for the diaper bag. Which y/n placed on his shoulder.
âHave fun, y/n, you deserve itâ he says, offering her a small smile while bouncing the child on his hip.
âIâll see you tomorrowâ she said to both Steve and her child but going to give her child a kiss on the cheek. âBye Steve!â She called as she walked out the door and to her car.
She sat a moment in the car contemplating this excursion. Y/n did not want to be away from her baby, in fact this was the first time sheâd be leaving her. It was not sitting well.
Y/n turned the key, igniting the ignition and back out of the parking spot. If only she hadnât promised Eddie a ticket. Sheâd turn right back around.
The drive to pick up Eddie was short, he had waited on her at the edge of the road. Not wanting the embarrassment of her seeing where he lived, though he guessed everyone knew.
âHey!â She beamed as he got into the passenger side of the car. âYou excited?â
âHell yeah!â He was beyond excited. This band was a local legend. He aspired to follow in their footsteps. âLetâs goâ Pulling off the side of the road, they began their journey.
âUgh why do your weird nerdy friends have to come here Dusty??â you pout at your little brother as you lay on your stomach on your bed, him staring at you from your doorway.
âI told you, the drama kids are putting on a play or some shit so we canât play D&D in there.â He says to you like itâs the most obvious thing in the world. âJust stay in here, my friends donât wanna listen to your stupid shows on the TV or watch you dance around to your girly music.â He slams your door shut and your head shoots up off a pillow, shocked at how rude he can be. You scoff and roll onto your back, eyes growing heavy and leading you into your after school nap.
Youâre rudely awakened by loud laughter and yelling. You look at the pink clock on your wall. 6:05pm. Their little game has only been going for 5 minutes and youâre already annoyed. You get up and head to your door, swinging it open and heading towards the bathroom for a quick shower before you go make yourself some dinner.
âCâmon Eddie, I wanna cast a spell, hurry up and roll!â you hear Mike Wheeler yell. Little twerp just like your brother. Always running into the house, tracking in dirt, leaving their bikes in the drivew⌠Wait. Eddie. Eddieâs here. In your dining room. Youâve had a crush on Eddie all year and while you two have talked here and there, youâd be lying if you said his harsh leather metal head look didnât scare you a bit. Youâre all soft edges, pink backpack, frilly white socks rolled over your reeboks, soft hair swaying. Youâre not perfect, certainly no Phoebe Cates. But you know youâre pretty, plush lips over straight teeth, cute perky boobs and a butt that jiggles when you walk.
Youâve felt Eddieâs eyes on you at school. Once he even bumped into you when you stopped short to tie your shoe. âWalk much?â Eddie said to you with a glare. âOh!â Youâd said as you spun around, surprised at his proximity. âS-sorry.â You said sweetly, his big brown eyes stared at you and made your tummy flutter in the most amazing way. Your tummy isnât flat and perfect but thatâs ok. You like cookies too much, is that a crime?!
âActually since youâre here, can you hold my books while I tie my shoes?â youâd asked, voice smooth and sweet like syrup. Eddie stared at you for a second then put out his hands. You assumed that meant yes so you handed him your heavy textbooks. You turned and bent forward, ass almost grazing his crotch. The way the fabric of your white jeans stretched across your cute little butt made him stop breathing. Eddieâs mind went blank, mouth going dry and fingers going numb from the weight. Your textbooks slipped out of his hands and hit the floor with a slam. You squeaked a scared little scream and stood back up quickly. âShit are you okay?â Eddie asks you as he drops down and picks the books back up, placing them gently into your small hands. âIâm fine. Was just loud. Scared me.â He chuckled, eyes narrowed and and flickered with mischief, making you wonder if he did that on purpose. âIâm sorry angel⌠I mean-â Your reaction to his nickname for you got cut short when you jumped for the second time in the last two minutes thanks to the class bell ringing. âGotta go.â Eddie said with a wink before racing past you, your face red with embarrassment.
You giggle at the memory as you exit the shower. Quickly running back to your room to get ready, you think to yourself: How can I get Eddieâs attention but not let him know he has mine? I think he likes me but I donât wanna look too desperate. Gotta tease him a bit⌠You curl your lashes and put on your sparkly pink lipgloss. You open your closet and weigh your options⌠tight jeans?⌠but you want Eddie to see your panties. A dress? thatâs a little too obvious⌠your fingers reach for your soft pink frilly mini skirt that has a matching jacket that your friend borrowed and never gave back. You slip it on, white and pink lace panties underneath with a scalloped edge that hug your ass just right. A simple white T shirt thatâs slightly see through over a matching pink and white lace bra and a couple sparkly silver necklaces finish your outfit. Barefoot you begin to creep downstairs, the sounds of boys whooping and dice hitting your wooden dining room table growing louder as you ascend.
âSo uh, whereâs your sister D?â you hear one of the boys ask. You stop on the second to last step, leaning in to listen. Itâs not Eddieâs voice, but too deep to be Mike or Lucasâs. âUp in her room, sheâs so annoying.â You roll your eyes. âMaybe..â Gareth grumbles. âBut I certainly donât mind lookinâ at her.â Everyone busts out into laughter except your brother. âEw dude gross! Shut up, itâs your turn.â âYeah G,â you finally hear Eddieâs voice, it sounds deep and tight like heâs clenching his jaw. âRoll the dice before I write you out of this whole campaign.â âJeez fine. I got a 12.â âNot enough, you lose 18 hit points.â âWhat the fuck man!â
As the game continues you saunter past the table, only turning your head once to smile and wave politely at the group. You feel Eddieâs eyes follow you all the way to the kitchen. Their conversation continues on, sounding further away now. You begin to warm up some rice and leftover chicken, mixing up a strawberry lemonade while the microwave whirs. As you watch the yellow drink turn pink you feel a warmth encroach your space, the smell of weed and cinnamon gum filling your nostrils.
âHey y/n.. didnât know you were here.â Eddie says as he stands behind you. Closer than what would be considered normal. You spin around, big doe eyes looking up and meeting his, small silver spoon that you were mixing with coming up to your lips and sucking, savoring the tangy powder. His eyes fall to your mouth, half hooded, eyebrows raising slightly. You pull it out slowly and lick the tip of it with your tongue, before saying âI live here. Where else would I be?â in your bratty tone.
He shrugs his shoulders, âFriday night, thought maybe youâd be on a date.â He says with a crooked smile. Does he think about me going on dates? He crowds closer into your space, you feel the countertop at your back as you lean against it. âNope. No date. Maybe you can set me up with one of your friends?â you say as you look past him, over his shoulder towards where Hellfire is. âMy friends? You wanna date one of us?â âI donât know.. maybe. You think theyâd be interested?â you ask him confidently but your heart is beating so fast, your breath uneven, chest rising with every shaky inhale. BEEEEEP. The microwave signals behind you. âEddie! You done in the bathroom yet?!â you hear your brother yell from down the hall. âSounds like youâre needed out there.â You say to him, beginning to slide past him. His hand shoots up to grab your hip and maneuver you back. Caged in by him.
âYeah, gimme five minutes!â He yells over his shoulder. You stare up at him, unsure what heâs going to do. He reaches behind you picking up your pink lemonade and drinks the whole thing in one long sip. You watch as his neck stretches back and his adams apple bobs when he swallows. The pale smooth skin of his neck looking irresistibly bite-able. âSweet. Like you.â He says, low and gravelly. He puts the glass down and drops his chin to his chest, looking at the small space between your bodies. âIs this a skirt or a belt? So fuckinâ short I thought I saw some ass when you walked by.â âMaybe I wanted your friend to see. Whatâs his name? With the curls⌠Gareth?â Eddie snorts and throws his head back with a mock laugh. âGareth wouldnât know what to do with you.â His eyes sweep down your neck, your chest and stop at where the thin fabric of your shirt and lace bra are barely doing anything to cover the pebbled peaks of your nipples. âOh and you know what to do with me?â you ask, eyebrows raising condescendingly. He exhales a low growl before reaching to grab the back of your squishy thighs and lifting you up onto the counter.
âIâd have a lot of fun finding out-â he leans forward, hands softly grasping the back of your calves, thumbs rubbing up and down the smooth skin as he guides them to rest around his thighs. âAngel.â he says with a wink. You feel a shudder go through you, ending at your core and making you ache between your legs. Eddieâs standing between your spread thighs, the rough fabric of his black jeans rubbing against your legs as he talks. Everything about him feels so warm. âListen to me real good now.â He says, lips brushing the shell of your ear causing goosebumps to erupt down the whole left side of your body. âYouâre going to eat your little snack. Then go back upstairs to your room and wait for me. Think you can do that?â He doesnât wait for you to respond before heâs backing away and walking back down the hallway. âEDDIE COME OOON!â Gareth yells. âCominâ!â He says back, wide smirk dancing on his lips.
Youâre left in the kitchen wondering what just happened and what you just got yourself intoâŚ
âY/N/N-bear? What are you doing?â A six year old boy asked, sitting with his feet in the pool.
âAre your parents home?â The girl asked, sitting down next to him.
âNo. You wanna hang out?â
âSteve, I gotta tell you something.â
âWhat is it?â Steve asked.
âIâm moving.â
âWhat? To where?â
âNew York City.â
âWhy?â
âI donât know. My dad says it will be good for us. But he said he would help me write to you.â
âItâs trollâs favorite food!â A big man yelled, running after a seven year old girl with two small pigtails, as a lady and the now twelve year old girl. âPrincess!â
âNo, Daddy!â The girl yelled, laughing. âNo, Daddy!â
âRoasted princess,â the man called, as he lifted her up into the air. âWith paprika and gravy!â
âNo! No, Daddy. No, Daddy.â
The little girl stopped laughing and started breathing heavily. The family crowded around, worried. âWhoa, hey!â The man let out. âHey. You alright?â
âMom, whatâs going on?â The twelve year old asked, grabbing her mothers hand.
âI donât know Y/N.â
âJim, whatâs going on?â The lady asked. âWhat happening? What happened?â
âI donât know.â The man responded. âI donât know.â The man put her down as she started looking around. âHey, you alright? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Relax, relax. Honey, honey. Honey, just breath. Breathe, breathe, breathe. In and out. Slow, slow, slow. In and out with me. InâŚand out.â
âI asked Mrs. Spencer what made the red and she said she didnât know.â The man read, reading a book to his family, laying next to his youngest daughter in a hospital bed. âAnd for pityâs sake not to ask her any more questions. She said I must have asked her a thousand already. I suppose I had, too, but how are you gonna find things out if you donât ask questions? And what does make roads red? âWell, I donât know,â said Matthew. It just makes me feel glad to be aliveâŚitâs such an interesting world.â
âNo!â A girl cried, grabbing a big manâs hand. âI wanna go with you!â
âY/N/N, what about your mom?â The man asked, getting on his knees to be eye level with the twelve year old girl. âShe canât lose another kid.â
âNo! I wanna go with you! She doesnât care, she only cares about her new boyfriend that doesnât remind her of Sara!â
âHey, donât say that.â The man said, wiping a tear from the girl's face.
âDaddy please? I wanna go with you! I wanna go back to Hawkins! I wanna see Steve again!â
âI know. I know.âÂ
âPlease, donât make me stay with her! Donât make me stay with him!â
âIâll see what I can do.â
The girl pounded on the door to a house as a twelve year old boy opened the door.
âSteve?â The girl asked, tears in her eyes.
âY/N/N-bear?â
âSteve,â the girl let out, hugging him tight. âI missed you so much!â
âY/N, what are you doing here?â Steve asked, pulling away to see tears in her eyes and on her face.
âSteve, my dad and I moved back. Sara died, and uh⌠my parents got a divorce. I was able to come back with him. Heâs at work now, but I just didnât want to be alone.â
âY/N/N, Iâm home!â The man in his police chief uniform called walking into his house one night. âY/N? Y/N, where are you?â He asked, looking around, looking for his daughter.
âAnd sheâs not with you?â The man asked on the phone the next day.
âNo. Why would she be with me? Are you sure she didnât just spend the night at a friends?â
âYes, Iâm sure. I went home last and she wasnât there. There was no sign of her, no note, no nothing! Itâs not like her to just run away like that.â
Awkward situation
Eddie munson x Henderson!reader
Summary: your dating Eddie munson your brothers best friend. Even though it annoys the he'll out of Dustin he can't exactly stop you both. Eddie stays at your place after a d&d campaign that went on to long with the rest of hellfire.
D&D was a success last night for thr group. Though it rolled to early hours of the morning. So with permission of mother Henderson the boys stayed in the basement. Everyone left early the next morning besides Eddie. Mother Henderson didn't mind him staying longer though as she liked the positivity he brought to Dustin.
Eddie was leaning on the kitchen counter talking to Dustin as he finished the dishes from the night before. Eddie had taken out the trash bag they filled up and the one that was in the kitchen.
"I'm thinking the next campaign I'll work in a few less monsters keep it short and sweet after the one last night." Eddie says to Dustin
"Yeah give us a small recovery break" Dustin laughs and Eddie laughs along. The boys continue to talk Eddie helping Dustin dry the dishes and put them away. As they finish up you finally wake up and come walking into the living room to say good morning to your mom. Then to the kitchen.
Dustin and Eddie turn when they hear someone enter. Dustin scoffs and Eddie can't help but smirk. Your wearing one of the band tees Eddie gave you that was way to big and a pair of your more slutty panties. It isn't lacey at the front and covers some of your ass with the help of Eddie's tee shirt but Dustin still scoffs.
"Jesus y/n put your ass away for once we have company." Dustin says. He doesn't tend to care how you walk around the house infact he walks around in his underwear when no guests are there. But he does care when his friend is stood there.
You gasp and look up to see who it is and see a very smug looking Eddie. You let out a breath and step to Eddie. "I think your forgetting your company is my boyfriend." You say as you step forward into Eddie. His arms go around you as he smiles. You hug him around his middle putting your face in his chest.
Dustin makes fake gagging noises and Eddie frowns at him. You bring your face out of his chest and look up at Eddie. "Morning beautiful." Eddie laughs slightly looking at you with your messy hair and goofy smile.
"Morning eds. How comes your here?" You ask genuinely curious.
"I stayed the night. Campaign wrapped up late so everyone crashed here but the others left I stayed to help Dustin tidy and see you." HE smiles kissing you. You melt into him finally getting a hello kiss.
"Why didn't you come get in bed with me if you was here?" You ask frowning.
"Cause it wouldn't be fair that I came here to see my friends and then ditched at 2 am cause I want to sleep in your bed." Eddie chuckles. You nod kissing him again.
"OK I'm here to and eddies here to see me right now y/n so shoo." Dustin says pointing to the door at the kitchen. You groan and pull away from Eddie's warm embrace. "Here" Eddie says giving you his hoodie he had on the kitchen side. You smile and kiss his cheek and take it happily before exiting the kitchen.
"And stay out!" Dustin calls behind you. Eddie looks over at him "what?" HE askes Eddie noticing his disapproving look.
"She's still my girlfriend even when I hang out with you." Eddie says raising his brows.
Dustin scoffs again "Common let's go to my room I wanna show you my new comics." Dustin says guiding Eddie out of the kitchen. Eddie nods and follows Dustin. Walking to Dustins room Eddie sees your bedroom door open and peaks in. Your sat at your desk drawing something.
"Whatcha drawing?" Eddie askes curiously making you jump.
"Jesus Eddie you scared me." You says calming yourself " 'm drawing a window but it's open ans the curtains are flying outside n the windows like smashed n stuff." You answer his question. Eddie nods and smiles at you.
"You my boyfriend again yet or still one of dustins sad little friends?" You ask smirking. Before he can answer Dustin calls his name.
"That should answer your question." HE chuckles walking away from your room to dustins.
-
"Yes well I have to see my girlfriend now." Eddie says approaching your room.
"But why she's so boring." Dustin protests.
"Alright dude I was here from 6 pm yesterday playing d&d n I didn't speak to her once. I stayed still didn't. At 12 pm she woke up and I spoke to her. Then you got her to go. Then when I was talking to her 5 minutes later you summond me again. Its now 5:30 pm and I wanna see my girlfriend. I'll hang with you inna bit or tomorrow OK?" Eddie answers as calmly as he can
He loves Dustin but he just couldn't talk to you. You walked to dustins room to see if he or Eddie wanted a drink as you was making yourself a coffee and dustin told you to get out.
"OK fine but you have to watch scream with me." Dustin says. Eddie nods knocking on your bedroom door. You open it and smile at the sight of Eddie.
"You finally been set free?" You ask giggling.
"God I'm still stood here." Dustin says stomping off. You roll your eyes and let Eddie Into your room. He flops onto your bed and you crawl up him kissing him sweetly when you Reach his lips then laying next to him.
"I don't see why Dustin hates me. All I do is try." You say putting your head on Eddie's chest. Eddie knows it upsets you when Dustin treats you like crap. You're his older sister and do a lot for him, but Eddie will admit he does treat you like shit sometimes.
You and Eddie have spoke about it before when it's been bothering you so you know you can talk to him now. Eddie kisses your head. "Honestly babe I think it's purely because we're dating. He will get over it eventually. Like I said just give him time." Eddie says closing his eyes relaxing.
"Yeah your right." You mumble back. You lay like that for a while as you both drift off into sleep. Eddie's arm around you. Your head on the side of his chest his heart is and your arm across his chest. Your legs entangled at the bottom of the bed.
-
Dustin bursts into your room without knocking making Eddie jump out of his peaceful sleep. Only to throw his head back when he sees Dustin stood in the doorway.
"Yes Dustin?" Eddie askes whipping his hand over his eyes.
"What are you doing?" Dustin askes Eddie frowning
"Well I was cuddled up with your sister asleep but now I'm awake talking to you. What's up?" Eddie askes again wanting to know what Dustin needed to urgently.
"Wanted to put the movie on common I've got our snacks out and stuff." Dustin says bouncing on his feet. Eddie lays on your bed in slight defeat. He either goes with Dustin leaving you and when you wake up you'll be upset or he can tell Dustin he can't resulting in an annoyed Dustin.
"What if I wake y/n up and see if she wants to watch it with us?" HE askes dustin
"What no you said YOU would watch it with my all you two will do is make out and its bro time not hoe time." Dustin says crossing his arms.
"Don't call your sister a hoe." Eddie says running his hand up your back. Eddie slips himself away from your sleeping body not wanting to wake you and goes into the living room with Dustin. Dustins buzzing he puts the movie on and sits next to Eddie opening the popcorn.
-
30 minutes later you wake up and notice Eddie isn't by your side. You frown and rub your eyes walking out of your bedroom. You walk to the bathroom and the doors wide open. You use the bathroom and wash your hands then you hear the TV. You walk into the living room seeing scream on the TV and both the boys on the couch.
"Eds?" You say quietly behind them. Both there heads turn to you. Eddie smiles and dustin rolls his eyes. "Whyd you leave?" You ask stretching your arms up.
"Cause he wanted to watch the movie with me." Dustin answers for Eddie. "You should've woken me up I would've came and watched it with you guys." You say crossing your arms looking at the boys with a soft expression.
"We wanted to watch the movie not you sit there making out with Eddie. It's bro time." Dustin says shoving his mouth full of popcorn. Eddie's head turns to you. He sees the look of hurt in your face. Your bottom lip wobbles and you nod. "Kay ill um ill go." You say hugging yourself as you walk off.
"Good." Dustin says through his mouthful of food. Eddie's pissed he was annoyed before but now he's pissed.
"To far." Eddie says looking at dustin
"What?" Dustin says confused
"To fucking far. I get she's your sister and I'm your friend but she's still my girlfriend. I've been dating her longer then I've properly known you Henderson. You've been in hellfire 7 months I've been dating your sister nearly 2 years. I get its annoying but if you don't like it you shouldn't have become as close with me as you have. We wouldn't of made out the hole time. She could've come and sat with us. She could've stayed in the kitchen with us. She could've come to see your comics to. I'm sure she would love that. But you treat her like shit. I've been nice you know cause I Dont want you to hate me cause you are my friend. And I don't want your mum to think bad of me. But she's my girlfriend n I don't let my other friends talk about her like that so you don't either. I'm gonna go make sure she's OK cause I'm gonna go with you didn't see her upset when she walked off." Eddie snapped at Dustin before he got up and walked to your bedroom.
Dustin was slightly shocked by eddies outburst. But Eddie didn't care he walked to your room. He said hello to your mun who was in the kitchen on his walk room.
"I'm sorry for snapping at Dustin aswell I'm justa little annoyed at how much he snaps at y/n." Eddie says not wanting your mum to suddenly hate him.
"Your fine Eddie just go make sure she's OK ill talk to dusty." She says smiling Eddie nods and goes to your room. He knocks and doesn't get an answer so he knocks again. "Go away." You mumble from the otherside of the door.
"Babe let me in. Don't make me climb through your window. I'll do it no hesitation." Eddie half jokes just wanting you to open the door. Which you do so he succeeded. You smile smally at him. "Want a hug?" HE askes hugging you. You nod and cling to him. He holds you just as tight as you cry slightly.
"Baby why are you crying?" Eddie askes kissing your head. You pull your face away from him slightly smiling at him. "Cause I heard what you said to Dustin. N i loved that you defended me even though you didn't need to. N then you apologised to my mum. N i was like. Holy shit I love him so much." You cried smiling as Eddie pulled you back in.
"Don't care. No one speaks to my girl infront of me like that don't care who they are." Eddie says. You stay holding eachother for a few before Eddie takes you to the living room.
"Let's clear this up. You don't be mean to her no more. Sure have your sibling banter or whatever but don't talk to her like you was or imma disown you. And you, you need to stop just walking off when he upsets you and tell him. OK right. New plan. Dustin if I'm here for D&D I'm here for you if I stay over after I stay with you I help you tidy up and whatever you wanna do with me we do then cause once I'm with y/n I'm not gonna stop hanging out with my girlfriend ok? Unless its like a movie or something we can all watch it even your mum can join. You need to stop being weird about the whole us dating thing it didn't effect you until you joined hellfire. Now let's all sit down and finish the movie." Eddie says as he pulls you to sit next to him.
"I didn't know I was upsetting you y/n I'm really sorry" Dustin says with sincerity in his voice.
"It's OK Dustin. I get its weird that me and Eddie are dating cause he's your friend but we've Been together a while you know so you just gotta deal with it really." You giggle sitting up. You hug Dustin for a second so he knows everything is OK.
Then you lay into Eddie's side as he wraps and arms around you kissing your head. "I love you." HE mumbles into your head. "I love you too." You smile up at him.
-
Once movie finished you and Eddie went to dustins room so he could show YOU all his new comics and stuff. Eventually he let you and Eddie go free. Your mom said Eddie could stay over again as he was respectful (to her atleast) so you both headed to your room and crawled and your duvets cuddling eachother.
"Missed my girl." HE mumbles.
"Missed you too babe." You hum back.
"Hopefully its all better now." Eddie says kissing your neck.
"Trust me I think its better all ready." You smile at his kiss.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"I love you more."
"Edward you actual bitch."
"Is someone to sleepy for the I love you battle."
"Yes now cuddle me and show me how you love me more."
And he does just that until your both out cold.
-
Safe to say Eddie's little speech worked cause you woke the next day to Eddie and dustin in the kitchen and as you enter Dustin smiled at you and said nothing about you being immediately clingy with Eddie. You'd woken up just in need of his skin contact so you hugged him for a while even while he made your coffee.
That day you all went to the arcade and actually had fun with Dustin for the first time in a while. You held Eddie's hand with no gagging noises and you were happy.
"I love you." You kiss Eddie as Dustin plays whatever game he's playing. It breaks Eddie's focus on the game and it goes straight to you. He then kisses you back. "I love you too." HE says, snaking a hand around your waist eyes, going back on the game Dustins playing.
"I love you more." You smirk.
"OH you getting revenge for last night huh?" HE turns back to you smiling and you nod smirking. "Mk let's stay at the trailer tonight n ill show you how much more I love you." HE whispers in your ear. Your haw drops as Eddie smirks looking back at dustins game telling him to do something.
You stood shocked as Eddie's hand squeezed your hip he was still smirking....
Boy were you excited for tonight.
|| THE NIGHT BEFORE ||Â
âWhat the fuck are you?!â Will heard her scream as the creature tried to outmatch her. The light above them grew brighter and brighter, and he squeezed his eyes shut while gripping her jacket tighter. He prayed this was just another nightmare. Maybe⌠Maybe heâs getting his wish when he hears the silence. Does he dare open his eyes and see the truth?
Heâs scared, trembling, and it heightens when he hears the girl heaving for air. So much so he clenches his grip on the fabric tighter, the strange smelling air going through his nostrils causing him to gasp himself. When his eyes snapped open is when his coughing fit started.
He hears his name being called, and hands coming around his shoulders. He almost jerks away, afraid, until his orbs settle on the silhouette before him.Â
âS-Steph?â He croaked, a sense of relief flooding his veins. âWhat just happened?â He could see the confusion on her face, looking around for clues. He followed her eyes, nose crinkling at the sight. âWeâre still in the shed. But itâs⌠gross.â
She swallows. âStay behind me.â She tells him, and guides herself through the door. They both shivered at the sudden drop in temperature. âJesus, Itâs freezing.â
Will and her looked around, the outside world seemed to be encased in a blue hue, the places around seemed to be tangled with vines and covered in something sticky. There was also a white powder that looked like snow, raining down from the dark skies above. A sky that didnât even have moonlight like it did a few minutes ago.
âDid you hit your head when we crashed?â She asked after getting his attention away from the sky.Â
He shakes his head, almost sadly. If that had both just hit their heads, would the situation have been better? He frowns, worriedly thinking away as the older girl tries to stay calm.
âCome on.â She says, gesturing to him to follow. âLetâs go inside. I want to see something.â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| PRESENT ||Â
The rain was coming down more intensely than before, followed by the grumbling of thunder and lightning. Somehow, miraculously, the boys, mostly Wheeler, managed to convince the strange girl they found in the woods to return home with them, and hid her in the basement.
âIs there a number we can call for your parents?â Mike asked, worriedly as the girl looked between the three boys, all scared and confused.
âWhereâs your hair? Do you have cancer?â Dustin spitted out, genuinely curious.
âDid you run away?â Lucas asked, skeptical.Â
âAre you in some kind of trouble?â Mike says, just as his friend questions a red sustain on her shirt. He slaps his hand away quickly. âStop it! Youâre freaking her out!â
âSheâs freaking me out!â
âI bet sheâs deaf.â Dustin suggested, before taking a quick half step and smacking his hands together. The sound makes the girl flinch, and he frowns apologetically. âNot deaf.â
âThatâs enough, all right? Sheâs just scared and cold.â Mike said, silencing the two before running over to the laundry basket and grabbing some clothes. âHere, these are clean. Okay?â
The girl takes them, taking a second to be grateful before she starts strippingâ The boys freak out, Mike running up to stop her while the other two look away.Â
âSee over there?â He points. âTh-Thatâs the bathroom. Privacy. Get it?â She nods and he shows her inside. Just when he was about to shut it behind him, she grabs it forcibly. âYou donât want it closed?â
âNo.â She finally says, surprising him.
âOh, so you can speak. Okay, well⌠Um, how about we just keep the doorâŚâ He slowly moves it until thereâs about three inches of space. âJust like this. Is that better?â
âYes.â
Mike smiles and leaves her be, rejoining the group who were having a conversation of their own.
âThis is mental.â Dustin said, freaking out.
âAt least she can talk.â Mike points out, with Lucas shaking his head, replying,
âShe said ânoâ and âyesâ. Your three-year-old sister says more.â
âShe tried to get naked.â Dustin adds.
âThereâs something seriously wrong with her.â Lucas said, touching his temple. âLike, wrong in the head.â
âShe just went likeâŚâ The Henderson boy makes a motion of taking off shirt (and even knocked his own hat off his head).
âI bet she escaped from Pennhurst.â
âFrom where?â Mike said, eyebrow raised.
âThe nuthouse in Kerley County.âÂ
âYou got a lot of family there?â Dustin teased, getting a dirty look.Â
âBite me. Seriously though, think about it. That would explain her shaved hair and why sheâs so crazy.â
âWhy she went likeâŚâ He does the shirt motion again. In his mind this was helping him and Lucasâ case.
ââSheâs an escapeeâ is the point. Sheâs probably a psycho.â
âLike Michael Myers.â
âExactly! We shouldâve never brought her here.â
âSo you just wanted to leave her out in that storm?â Mike asks, irritated.Â
âYes! We went out to find WillââÂ
âAnd Phanie.â Dustin pressures.Â
âAnd Steph â not another problem!â Lucas agrees.
âI think we should tell your mom.â
âI second that.â
Mike holds his hand up. âWhoâs crazy now?âÂ
âHow is that crazy?â Lucas scoffed.
ââCause, we werenât supposed to be out tonight, remember?â
âSo?â
âSo if I tell my mom and she tells your mom and your momââ
Dustinâs eyes widened. âOh, man.â
âOur houses become Alcatraz.â Lucas frowns.
âExactly. Weâll never find Will, or Steph.â Mike says, seeing Dustin make the shirt motion once more, silently asking the question about the girl. âAll right, hereâs the plan. She sleeps here tonight.â
Henderson perked up again. âYouâre letting a girlââÂ
âJust listen! In the morning, she sneaks around my house, goes to the front door and rings my doorbell. My mom will answer and know exactly what to do. Sheâll send her back to Pennhurst or wherever she comes from. Weâll be totally in the clear. And tomorrow night, we go back out. And this time, we find Will and Stephanie.â
Lucas and Dustin share a look, until one of them finally shrugged. âI guess that works.â Â
âGreat. Weâll start again tomorrow. Goodnight, guys.â Mike bid them as he went off to start making the mysterious girl a place to rest.
âThis is crazy, man.â Lucas said, once they had snuck back out. âWhat the hell is Mike even thinking?â
âI donât know. Do you think his plan will really work?â Dustin asked, as they headed over to where their bikes were hidden.
âIâm giving it less than a fifty percent chance of success.â He sighs. âI better get home.â
âYeah, I guess so.â
âHey, donât look so sad.â He pats his curly haired friend on the back. âWeâll find them.â
âI just want my sister back. You have no idea.â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
In the following morning, in the Byers house, the eldest seemingly was keeping it together, making the morning meal like he always does and hoping his worrying mother would have just a bite.Â
âAll right, Mom. Breakfast is ready.â Jonathan said, while placing the plate down in front of her, her thoughts being interrupted.Â
âWhat?â His mother said, before moving some papers. âNo, be careful of the poster.â
âYeah, okay. All rightââ
âI canât eat.â
âI just need you to eat, Mom.â
âListen, listen. The Xerox place opens in, likeâŚâ She looks down at her watch. â30 minutesââ
âMomââ
âAnd I donât want you to go aloneââ
âNo, I know. I told you, I got it.â
âSo Iâm gonna have Karen take you, âcause I should be here.â She gestures around, all jittery. âClaudia will meet you there, b-but if sheâs not, sheâll reimburse us for the copies of Stephanie, Iââ
He shakes his head with understanding. âOkay.â
âWe need to make, what, 200, 300 copies?â He nods again. âHow much is a copy?â
âMom?â
âTen cents?â
âMom?âÂ
âIf weâ ten centsâ
âMom, Mom!â Jonathan stops her from counting the cash she had laid out, and squeezes her shoulder with her other hang to calm her. âY-You canât get like this, okay?â
âIâm sorry, Iâm sorry.â Joyce replies, taking a shaky inhale of nicotine.Â
âNo, itâs okay.â He reassures her softly, just before someone comes knocking on their door. The mother rushed over with her son on her tail, busting the door wide open for the exhausted police officer.Â
âWeâve been waiting six hours.âÂ
âI know, I came as soon as I could.â Hopper replies, nearly dead on his feet.
âSix hours.â
âA little bit of trust here, all right?â He slides his hat off. âWeâve been searching all night, went all the way to Cartersville.â
âAnd?â
âNothing.â
Joyce made a choking sound and looked away. âGodâŚâ
Hopper frowns, sadly. âFlo says you got a phone call?â
âOh, yeah.â Joyce nods and shows him their phone.Â
He picks it, examining the speaker part of it which was charded black. âStorm barbecued this pretty good.â
She took a step back in surprise. âThe storm?â
Hopper looked at her like she had two heads. âWhat else?â
âYouâre saying that thatâs not weird?â
âNo, itâs weird.â
âCan we, like, trace who made the call? Contact theââ
âNo, it doesnât work like that.â He shakes his head, and then looks at her with all seriousness. âNow, uh, youâre sure it was Will? Because Flo said you just heard some breathing.â
âNo. It was him, it was Will... and h-he was scared. And then somethingââ
âIt was probably just a prank call. It was somebody trying to scare you.â
âWho would do that?â Joyce questioned, face full of confusion and sickness.
âWell, this thingâs been on TV. It brings out all the crazies, you know. False leads, prank calls, uhââ
âNo, Hopper, it was not a prank. It was him.â
âJoyce.â He begins, as she denies him again
âCome on, how about a little trust here?â She laughs dryly. âWhat, you think Iâmâ Iâm making this up?â
âIâm not saying that youâre making it up.â Hopper looks at her with concern again. âAll Iâm saying is itâs an emotional time for you.â
âAnd you think I donât know my own sonâs breathing?â
âJoyceââ
âHopper, my sonâs missing. A-And not only that, someone elseâs daughter is missing.â She nervously takes a puff of her cigarette. âAnd you know what the mess up part about that is? Stephanie didnât have to! She didnât have to be the sweetheart she is and take my son home. She could have just drove past him, but she didnât! She didnât, Hop. And now I have to live with the thought that I made someone elseâs kid go missing because I. Was. Working!âÂ
She ends with an emotional sigh, tightening the heavy tension it the room. Jonathan worriedly looking at his mother before, locking eyes with the police chief who was trying to find the right words to say.
âYou hear from, uh, Lonnie yet?â Hopper asked after the small silence.
âNo.â
âItâs been long enough.â He puts his hat back on. âIâm having him checked out.â
âOh, come on!â She sighs loudly, watching him leave. âYouâre wasting your time.â Then the door shuts, and rubs her temple. âJesus. He never listens!â
Jonathan ponders for a moment, before asking, âMom, how likely is it that Will would actually go to Lonnieâs?â
âIâŚâ Joyce runs a hand through her messy locks. âItâs possible, but he lives a long, long way. Especially on foot. But⌠I donâtâ maybe he would! IâŚâ She sighs again, overwhelmed. âHowever, I donât think he would have gone with Stephanie. Heâs⌠W-Will knows your fatherâs not the best man, and Will, you know, has that heart of gold.â
That got a chuckle out of both of them. âYeah.â
âI donât think Will would have risked Stephanie like that.â She shakes her head. âNo. Sheâs an older kid, and older sister. As much as this sounds messed up, she would have done anything to make sure Will was safe. I know it. So⌠my question isâŚâ She locks eyes with her son. âWhat would a girl her age think is a safe place for a young boy?â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| TWO NIGHTS AGO ||
Stephanie flipped the lightswitch on in the kitchen out of curiosity, but finds herself still submerged in darkness. âJust what I thought. Thereâs no light.â She says with a frown.
âThe flash of light we sawââ Will looks up at her. âDo you think it was a power outage?âÂ
âI donât think thereâs light here, I mean-â She starts walking around, rubbing her shaking hands together. âLook at this place. I donât think weâre in Hawkins anymore.â She shivers just a smidge. âAt least itâs a little warmer inside here.â Then she hears a distressful sound. âWill?â
The boy was pale, pupils blown wide and had a small tremble. âW-What do you m-mean weâre not in Hawkins anymore?â He asked, lip quivering with a slight pant. âB-But th-this looks like my house. D-Did w-we get taken somewhere else? Can we even g-go home? Iââ
âShit⌠Willââ She rushes over, hands coming up to his shoulders while she gets on one knee. âWill? Hey, bud, listenâ hey.â She makes sure his gaze meets hers. âDonât freak out. I know itâs scary, but weâre going to figure this out. Once we do, Iâm going to get us home, I promise.â
The boy sniffles into his shoulder, fighting back tears. âYou promise?â
âI promise.â She says it without realizing the fate of those words.
He swallows and extends out a certain finger. âPinky promise?â
Her breath was nearly taken away by that certain question, taking her far back into a distant memory. But⌠like hell sheâs going to let that memory change her judgment. She interlocks hers with his and repeats, âPinky promise.â
That got him to crack a smile. âSo, what next?â He asks, making her rack her brain for a plan.
|| PRESENT DAY ||
He woke up again to his catâs crying. The young Henderson frowns, heart clenching at how Mews was wondering where his sister was at. For the urban legend of how cats had no emotions, heâs certainly not seeing it. He rubbed his eyes and wandered aimlessly around, the thought of calling sick into school was still fresh in his mind. Should he? I mean it made sense, and it wasnât like the school wonât understand, soâŚ.
Was that a yes?
He walked through the hallway, curls in his eyes as slows in front of his sisterâs bedroom. His cat locked eyes with him, sadness and confusion filled the slitted pupils. Mews meows again.
âSheâs not back yet.â Dustin says, getting a chirp. âWeâre trying. Sheâll be back soon.â He starts walking away, hearing him make a sad sound once more.Â
âDusty-bun, Iâm going to make some posters.â Claudia said, who were gathering her belongings by the door. âI left you breakfast on the stove.â
His nervous fingers gripped his t-shirt as he tried not to sound so down. âHey, Mom?â Her eyes meet his gaze. âIs it okay if I⌠stay home today?â
Claudiaâs face softens bittersweetly. âOf course you can, sweety. If you leave the house for whatever reason, just leave me a note where youâre going, thatâs all I ask.â She gives him a kiss on his hairline, and is one foot out the door before adding, âOh! And be back before dark. Okay? Your Mama doesnât need to worry about another kid.â
âCan do.â
He watches her smile and closes the door, locking it. He frowns at that action, I mean theyâve never locked their door before, and now it was becoming second nature. He was even surprised she told him he could leave the house. Or⌠did she not expect him to leave this place in the state heâs in? Sounds like something she would do.
He sighs and heads for the kitchen to make himself a plate. He didnât have much of an appetite, really, but he didnât want to hurt his motherâs feelings or make her beg for him to eat â he didnât want to call âpot kettle blackâ since he was the one that had to convince his mourning mother to eat last night. But it was hard, his fork just picking at the food, cutting it into smaller pieces to stare at before dropping his utensil onto the plate.
Steph⌠His fingers dug into his pocket and pulled the gold chain out, letting it sprawl out in his palm. He stares at it intensely, thinking. Come on, Sis, give me a sign. What happened to you and Will? What caused you to go off road and run? Run with Willâs shotgun out of all things?
What had got her so scared that they needed a weapon to protect themselves? Both her and Will were the last two people that would resort in violence, so the fact that they decided to arm themselves with a weapon tells him that something sinister was up.
But what? Dustin lays the necklace down next to him, pretending that she was here to eat with him like she always does, before deciding it was time to munch on what was left on his plate.
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Hopper struggles to keep his mind clear after that conversation with Joyce. His thought always going back to this particular moment:
.
ââStephanie didnât have to! She didnât have to be the sweetheart she is and take my son home. She could have just drove past him, but she didnât! She didnât, Hop. And now I have to live with the thought that I made someone elseâs kid go missing because I. Was. Working!ââ
.
Of course the woman felt guilty about everything. I mean, your kid goes missing, who else are you going to blame other than yourself? But she also was chipping away at the idea it was her fault that that poor girl was missing too. Blames herself for working later than usual, and wasnât the one to come across her own son on the road and pick him up. Thatâs a lot of guilt for someone whoâs holding the family together on her own.
He listens to the volunteers shout the childrenâs names, hoping that they would shout back. Hopper wishes that too. He prays that one of them would yell back for help and get this nightmare over with.
âHey!â He shouts at the two officers. âAnything?â
Callahan shakes his head. âYou?â
âNo, nothing but a dead phone.â
âJoyce?â
Hopper nods. âAbout one step from falling off the edge.â
âSheâs been a few steps for a while now, hasnât she?â Powell asked, as heâs met with a stern glare.Â
âKidâs missing, man. Show a little class.â Hopper snaps, making them avert their eyes.
âAll rightâŚâ
He exhales and takes off with the rest of the group, shouting, âCome on, letâs go! We got a lot of ground to cover.â He keeps his fingers crossed that this would be it. That this would be the search that brings them home.
For their mothers' sake.
For his sake.
For every goddamn person out of hereâs sake.Â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| THE NIGHT BEFORE ||
Stephanie shifted through the last cabinet and frowns. âWell, we canât cook anything because thereâs no electricity. But we can eat the dry goods. Unless we can figure out how to start a fireâ She sighs, and wrinkles her nose. I mean, they can go a few days without eating if they didnât want to touch the box of crackers covered in goo. But water? How were they supposed to have water if the faucet comes out with something they probably shouldnât drink.
She rubs her temples, thinking. âI guess weâre going to have to look for some bottled stuff to drink.â She makes contact with the boy who just entered the room. âHow you feeling?â
âFine. I got a bit of a chill, but we can still grab clothes out of the closets if we need it.â Will replies, hugging his walkie talkie close.
âAnd the call?â
âNothing. I mean I could hardly ever get reception over here anyway, so maybe we can try finding a different spot.â
âThat wouldnât be a bad idea." She says with a sigh. âWhereâs the shotgun?â
âOh, uhâ Momâs room.â He points behind him.
âAlright, maybe Iâll take a peek outside. If it seems clear, maybe we can try to find some reception.âÂ
Stephanie leaves the room with Will looking back at his walkie. He had to remain strong, hopeful. He has to get through to someone. His friends, his family, one of them has to be ableâ
Wait.
Was he hearing things? Was his mind playing tricks?
His eyes trail to his living room where he swears he heard someone talking. It was faint, but you canât miss it.Â
It sounds like⌠His chest tightens at a thought, his brown orbs blown wide as he looks at the yellow phone on the wall. It was probably hopeless, stupid even, I mean⌠the damn thing didnât work when Stephanie tried to call for help when they were being chased. But that was the real world, this was⌠fake? Maybe it different, maybe itâsâ
Oh, shit.
Maybe heâs just grasping at straws at this point and hopes it turns out okay.
His fingers latch around the phone, pulling it off the receiver and dials his homeâs number, praying with all his might that this ridiculous idea would actually work.Â
Come on, come on, come on, come on, comâ
Oh, he felt like crying when someone picked up.
[ âHello?â ]
His motherâs voice broke through and poke him in the heart. He couldnât breath as relief washed over him like a storm.
[ âHello? Lonnie? Hopper? Who is this?â ]
Say something, say something, say somethingâ His lip quivers as he swallows. âM-Mom?â He canât wait till Steph hears about this. âM-Mom, I-Itâs me.âÂ
She can hear me right? She has to.Â
[ âWill? Will? Itâs Will!â ]
[ âMom, itâs Will?â ]
He could cry upon hearing the second voice. âJ-Jonathan? Mom? M-Me and Stephanie are tr-trap in some weird place! I-I donât know what t-toââ
Then he was cut off by the dreadful sound of the monster. Will watched as its claws wrapped around the corner, almost like it was pulling itself into the kitchen. He doesnât even know where it came from. He didnât even hear it freaking come in!Â
He froze on sight, his mother shouting something he couldnât make out as the beast with no eyes looked directly at him. He wanted to scream but it was stuck in his throat. Is this how he was going to die? Die by listening to his motherâs pleas to answer her?
It shrieked and seemed to get bigger, ready to strike him down before it took a bullet to the face. The shot made it fall against the wall, and Will drops the fried phone and backs himself away. Stephanie looked half scared to death too as she cocks the shotgun again and fires one more when it stands up, sending it flying to the living room. As quickly as her buckling knees could hold her, she rushes over to Will, pulling him behind her as she aims the barrel into the direction the beast was. Shaking intensely, she carefully peeks around the corner to find that it had completely vanished like it did earlier. She gasps in shock before sliding to the ground herself, mentally drained.
âSteph!!â Will calls out with worry. He could see her eyes glassing over, her skin becoming paler as she shouts,Â
âWhere the fuck are we?!âÂ
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| PRESENT DAY ||Â
Steve strolls into school, head in the clouds, and an aching feeling in the pit of his stomach. His sleep went to complete shit after the conversation with his girlfriend last night. He still doesnât understand why it was affecting him so much. Itâs not like him and Steph hung out anymore. So why is he losing sleep over this?
Youâre not even friends anymore, Harrington. He mentally slaps himself. Get your shit togetherâÂ
âBoo!â Tommy yelled, jumping out from behind the corner, startling him.
âJesus, Hagan.â Steve said, holding his chest while the other teen laughed.
âThat was so easy.â
âSoââ Carolâs arm snakes around him with a grin. âDid you tell your little girlfriend about your party?âÂ
âI-I⌠not yet.âÂ
âWhat? You didnât tell her at her house yesterday?âÂ
âN-No. Never got the chance to.â
âWhat?!â Tommy scoffs. âStealthy Stevie didnât get to use his skills last night?â Him and his girlfriend laughed, but then grew quiet seeing how distant the King was being. âWhat the fuckâs going on with you, man?â
âUmâŚâ Steveâs gaze gets caught onto someone else, spotting a certain person posting a certain flier up on the bulletin board. He swallows, and masks a fake smile. âYou guys go ahead to class. I got to grab something out of my locker.â
âOh, we can go with you.â Carol begins, trying to follow him but he shakes them off.
âNo, no. Go ahead. Iâll meet you there.â Steve ignores the strange looks they gave him before walking away. Deciding this was the âonlyâ way, he rushes over to the oldest Byers kid, âaccidentlyâ pushing his shoulder into his, knocking the papers out of his hand while he was leaving. He scoffs, while saying, âWatch where youâre going!âÂ
Jonathan says nothing as he bends over to collect the rest, oblivious to the other teenager sliding a paper away with his foot. Once he leaves, Steve retrieves the flier from under his shoe, reading it over. Â
  HAVE YOU SEEN ME? Stephanie Henderson Age 16, 5â4â Brown Hair, Blue Eyes, 110lbs. Last seen wearing a brown work uniform, black jacket, white sneakers, and a baseball cap. Reach out to Claudia Henderson or Joyce Byers at #### or ####Â
Steve stares with a distant look in his eyes, thumb brushing over her picture. Such a gentle smile for a gentle person. God⌠why did they have to use that picture? It was right before heâ
He frowns, throwing his head back.Â
FuckâŚÂ
What the hell was he supposed to do now?
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Back at the Wheelerâs house, Mike decided to stay home, his parents totally unaware of him doing so. He showed the new girl around his place, acting a bit giggly when they finally got to his room. He was so excited to show off his action figures, and comic books, and anything else that he holds close to his heart. He didnât even realize she was starting to wander off to where a collection of trophies were. Her brown eyes grew with fascination by them.
âOh, these are all my science fair trophies. We got first every year.â Mikeâs smile drops just a tad. âExcept for last year when we got third. Mr. Clarke said it was totally political.â
Yeah, it totally was that. He expected some kind of reaction from her, except for the one where her eyes widened and she slowly pointed to the picture of Will in their fair picture together.
Mike perked up, hopeful. âYou know Will? Did you see him? Last Night? On the road? Didââ He pauses. âHang on a sec.â Maybe heâs getting his hopes up as he grabs another photo after shifting around in his drawer. It was a picture of his friendsâ families at the lake, posing nicely for the camera.Â
He points to the girl in the right hand corner. âThis is Stephanie. Sheâs his sister.â He points to Dustin whoâs hanging out behind her. âShe supposedly gave Will a ride the night he disappeared, and we canât find her either. Did you see her too?â
The girl studies Stephâs face, slowly the same reaction she had from seeing Will returned as she pointed again. âIââ
Her answer was cut short when they heard something from outside. Mike gets up quickly, peeking through his curtains to see his motherâs car pulling into the driveway. He pales.
âShit.â He rushes to grab her by the hand and strings her along. âWe gotta hide!â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| HOURS BEFORE ||
Of course the eldest stayed awake for most of the night, the two of them tucked away in the far corner of Willâs room, her eyes trained on the door just in case that wretched monster appeared again. She kept a good grip on the shotgun, one foot planted on the ground for a quick pop up if needed. Adrenaline was pumping in her blood, she was fighting off her exhaustion and hunger, while a tune played on her dry lips.
â⪠Here we stand
Worlds apart, hearts broken in two. Two. Two
Sleepless nights.
Losing ground, Iâm reaching for you. You. You
Feeling that itâs gone
Canât change your mind
If we canât go on
To surviveââŞâ
Will stirred beside her, his head resting on her shoulder that was starting to fall asleep, but she refused to jostle the kid. God knows he needs his rest. Well⌠so does she, but sheâll get around to that.Â
Her mind wanders back to the conversation they had last night, the one where Will admitted he spoke to his mother on the phone. Shock wasnât the right word, especially when she examined the phone that had been burnt black, and when asking again if he heard that right, the youngest Byers swears he did.Â
Is there actually a way to communicate to⌠well⌠âour worldâ, I guess. She ponders on that thought, wondering if itâs possible to do so without frying your phone to death. Not to mention Will swears he heard people talking before calling his mother. Can we only communicate to the people we âhearâ?Â
She scolds herself. This hurts my head too much.
â⪠âThe tide
Love divides
Someday, love will find you
Break those chains that bind you
One night will remind you
How we touched and went our separate ways
If he ever hurts you
True love wonât desert you
You know I still love you
Though we touched and went our separate waysâ âŞâ
Will stirred again, this time waking up slowly with a groan. âWas it a dreamâŚ?â He whispers, his eyes opening at a snail pace.
âI wish.â Steph says, sadly.
âDid you sleep okay?â He asks, rubbing his face.
Her heart skips a beat and a lie slips out. âUh, yeah. It was fine.â
âThatâs good.â
âWe shouldnât stay here.â She says, surprising him. âWe should probably move around, maybe lose that monster for a while. And youâre probably hungry too, I know my mom keeps cans and bottled water down in our basement for emergencies. That should tie us over for a little while.â
âIs it even safe to go out?â He wonders, yet intrigued. Heâll admit⌠he is a bit famished.Â
âI donât know. But we got to try. Right?â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
âWhoa, whoa. Careful, careful.â Hopper says as he snags his partner by the collar. âI need you alive for the next few days, at least.â
Callahan smirked and scoffed as he gestures to the Quarry below. âOh, hell, I could survive that.â He said, making his superior laugh. âWhat? George Burness made the jump. And he was drunk as a skunk. He did it on a $10 bet.â
âGeorge is a liar. You make that jump from this height, that water turns into cement. Hits you like a ton of bricks.â Hopper smacks his hands together. âBreak every damn bone in your body.â
The youngster pondered on that for a second before shaking his head. âNah.â
[ âChief, you copy?â ]Â
Hopper grabs his walkie from his belt. âYeah, Flo, talk to me.â
[ âHey, Chief, we got a call from over at Bennyâs. I think you need to get there right away.â ]
And those were words he didnât want to hear. So he and his team rushed over there as quickly as they could, and the first they were met with was the smell of a rotting corpse.Â
âUgh, Jesus!â Callahan said, covering his nose.
âSuicide?â Powell asked, after a moment of silence.Â
Hopper hummed and stared in disbelief at the man laying on the table, pistol in hand and a bullet wound straight through the temple. Thereâs no way this can be real.
âMissing kid, suicide.â Callahan frowns. âYou must feel like a big city cop again, huh, Chief?Â
âWell, I mostly dealt with strangers back then.â Hopper replies, this particular moment he almost broke down. âBenny was my friend.â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| HOURS BEFORE ||
Stephanie peeked outside before gesturing to Will to follow. The two of them had backpacks on that they found lying around, going to use them to fill up with anything they could find â But the task that lay ahead was going to be hard. The task wasâŚ
Walking back through Mirkwood to the Henderson home.Â
No lights, just a few bullets to spare, and their pure will to survive (Or maybe itâs the fear thatâs fueling that will).
âI donât like this.â Will mutters, only a few minutes after they left the Byersâ driveway and down a few feet on the road. âWhat if that thing spawns in front of us again?â
âThen we shoot it and book it again. Thatâs all we can do now.â Steph replies, carefully looking around. But what if heâs right? What if thing actually just spawns out of thin air? Then thereâs not telling where and when not to go.
He stays silent, shaking a tad as they make it further down the road. It took a hot minute for the older girl to notice this and stop briefly, the twelve year oldâs eyes confused just as she held out her hand. Without missing a beat, his clammy hand takes it, squeezing it tight. She smiles just a tad, reminding her of Dustin before they started walking again.
She felt him hang on to dear life as they strolled into the darkest part of Mirkwood, the eeriness that was silence was making their hearts race. She came to a conclusion after facing the monster last night that she had to be the strong one here. She has to act like the older sister again, and remain calm, and to keep him safe.
I made a promise. I donât know how to fulfill it just yet, but Iâm going to get him out of here. Steph casts a glance down at him, the poor boyâs face looked so cold. Does hers look like that too?
She grins after a quick thought. âHeyââ His eyes locked with hers. âWhat does a âRangerâ do in D&D? That one sounds intriguing to me.â
His face lights up. âYou actually want to play D&D?â
âHey, you suggested it, I might as well. So, the Ranger? Whatâs that like? The lore?â
âWell, Rangers are warriors that explore different civilizations, and they hunt down the deadliest of monsters. Theyâre trained in many different combat techniques, survival skills, and even some magic.â
âMagic? I like the sound of that.â
âThey mostly reside in the forest, or anything ânature-yâ.âÂ
She chuckles. âI donât like the sound of that. What else? Arenât there like⌠classes⌠or different types?
âOh, yeah.â He nods. âI guess it depends on what you prefer. Do you want me to tell you?â
âIâm all ears.â Steph said, making a motion. Iâm just glad heâs stopped shaking.
âWell, thereâs a lot. The most common ones are âBeast Mastersâ, which are accompanied with an animal companion. Then thereâs âHuntersâ, which are mainly just professional assassins that take down monsters of all sorts. Now, even though all Rangers have the capability of taking monsters down, Hunters are strictly made just to do that.â
She hums. âInteresting.â
âThen thereâs âGloom Stalkersâ, who live mostly in dark realms, and take down the shadowy beasts roaming the territory. Theyâre pretty good at ambushing their opponents.â He smiles. âPersonally, I find that the coolest.â
âWell, I can see why. What else? Do Rangers get weapons?âÂ
âOf course! The most common is a two-blade or archery.â
âArchery sounds cool.â
âSee, I agree. But I know Lucas always says itâs âstupidâ, soââ
Steph shakes her head with a sigh. âOh, well. I guess Iâll have to prove him wrong when I play.â
âSo you are going to play with us!â Will said, joyfully, like you just told him Christmas was coming early.
âIf thatâs how I prove Lucas wrong, then so be it. So how does one newbie play D&D?â She asked, hopefully this will keep him occupied. At least I can keep him distracted until we get there.
âAre you out of your mind?â Lucas said, as soon as Mike was done with his explanation for them being here.Â
âJust listen to me.â Mike pleads.
âYou are out of your mindââ
âShe knows about Will and Steph.â
Dustin perks up after being the silent one here. âWhat do you mean she knows about them?â
Mike grabs the pictures from earlier and holds them up. âShe pointed at them, at their picture. She knew they were missing. I could tell.â
âYou could tell?â Lucas asked, looking between the pictures and the girl who was on the bed.
âJust think about it. Do you really think it was a coincidence that we found her on Mirkwood, the same place where they disappeared?â
Dustin nodded, agreeing. âThat is weird.â
âAnd she said bad people are after her.â Mike said, with a frown. âI think maybe these bad people are the same ones that took Will and Steph. I think she knows what happened to them.â
âThen why doesnât she tell us?â Lucas asked, glaring at her direction before stomping over. âDo you know where they are?â He grabs her by the shoulder. âDo you know where Will and Stephanie are?!âÂ
âStop it, youâre scaring her!â Mike pulls him away, as his friend brushes him off.
âShe should be scared! If you know where they are, tell us! This is nuts. We have to take her to your mom.â
âNo! Eleven said telling any adult would put us in danger.â
âWhat kind of danger?â Dustin asked, his thoughts from earlier about his sister and Will taking a shotgun with them crossed his mind.
Lucas gives him a weird look. âHer name is Eleven?âÂ
âEl for short.â Mike clarifies.
âMike! What kind of danger?â Dustin pushes, his stomach turning.
âDanger danger!â The brunette makes a finger gun and points it between Hendersonâs eyes before moving over towards Lucas who demises quickly.
âNo, no, no!â Sinclair snaps, rushing for the door. âWeâre going back to plan A. Weâre telling your mom.â
He pulls open the door only for it to slam shut automatically. Not even batting an eye at that, he tries again, for it to not only to shut with more force but to even lock itself. The boys look back at the only explanation, and they see El standing on her feet with a drop of blood coming out of her nose.
âNo.â She said, with a tone that told them not to push it.
Back at the station, Hopper was questioning an anxious friend of Bennyâs. Earl was his name, and he was sitting in a chair, eyes full of disbelief as he lit a cigarette.
âJust doesnât make any sense, Chief.â
âYou, uh, notice anything odd about him the last few weeks?â Hopper asked, trying to keep it professional (even though this case was hurting him the most).Â
Earl shakes his head. âNo, weâre fixinâ to go fishing down the Etowah next Sunday. I mean, he was lookinâ forward to it. I know that.â
âHe got any enemies you might know about? I mean, people who might not want him around?â
âThe exes didnât like him much. Thatâs for sure, but⌠nah.â
âWhen was the last time you saw him?â
âYesterday. Lunch, same as always.â
âJust you and the boys?â
âYep. Me and Henry andâŚâ He pauses. âWell, there was this, uh, this kid. No kid did this.â
âKid?â Hopper nearly perked up hope. âWhat are you talking about?â
âYeah. At lunch, uh, there was this boy that, uh I mean, he was trying to steal food out of Bennyâs kitchen. Can you imagine that?â
Hopper locked eyes with Callahan who got the silent message. âThis kid whatâd he look like?â
âWell, he was about yea high.â Earl raises his arm up and out. âYou know, tiny like. I didnât get a good look at him, though. He was back in the kitchen.â
âHe look like this?â Callahan asked, coming back with a missing kid poster of Will.Â
He takes the flier, and immediately shakes his head. âOh, no, thatâs⌠thatâs Lonnieâs missinâ kid. No. This was a different kid. This one had really short hair. I mean, it was buzzed nearly down to the scalp.â
Hopper tries not to let his composure break, and continues to hold on to the slimmer of hope. âYeah, well, letâs⌠You know, letâs forget about the haircut. I mean, if this kid had a buzz cut⌠could it be Lonnieâs kid?â
âWell, I-I⌠didnât get a good look at him. About the right height, though. I mean, couldâve been. Yeah, thatâs⌠Couldâve been.â
Hopper frowns, taking the poster back from him. âAnd, you only saw the boy right? No girl? Teenager? Dark hair?â
âNo.â Earl shakes his head once more. âNo. I didnât see a girl.â
The Chief mentally sighs. This is not good.
[ âA party?â ]
Finally! Steve thought, pumping his fist. She finally sounded intrigued. He was hoping this would make up for his weird behavior at school.Â
And, no, no, no, It wasnât because ofâ well⌠âyou know whoâ. Totally not because of her. Totally, totally, totally notâ
[ âSteve?â ]
Nancyâs voice broke through his totally not clouded mind. âUh, yeah, sorry. Yeah, a party. Well⌠kind of. Itâs just going to be me, Tommy H. and Carol. No parents for the whole weekend, so we wouldnât have to worry about them coming in and ruining the mo-jo.â
Just my friends and my girlfriend. Just having fun, no worries aboutâ
[ âNot much of a party with just four people.â ]
He laughs. âOkay, Iâll admit, itâs a little sad. But you know, itâs better this way. And, you know, if you want to, you can invite Barbara. If it makes you feel more comfortable. Or not. Or you donât have to comeââ
[ âSteve.â ]
âYeah?â
[ âIâll totally come. But Iâm going to try to convince Barb first if thatâs alright.â ]
âYeah, Yeah. Totally. It starts at seven.â
[ âStarts at seven. Got it. Iâll see you then.â ]
He smiles. âSee you then. Bye.â
[ âBye.â ]Â
âYes!â He said, once he hung up the phone. âFinally.â He feels his spirits get lifted again. âThis is going to be perfect.â
|| HOURS BEFORE ||
âWelcome to Mi Casa.â Stephanie said, upon entering her home. Just as gross and dark as Willâs.Â
âYou said the basement, right?â Will asked, the thought of eating something sounded nice.
âYep.âÂ
They thought navigating below âsunlightâ was going to be hard, but I guess living in darkness for nearly twenty-four hours had its perks. Finding the tote where the emergency supplies were easier than they thought, their stomachs growing when they saw the cans of food.Â
âHang on second.â Steph said, disappearing back up the stairs for a sec, and then coming back with some forks and a can opener. She uses her shirt to wipe it clean the best she could before using. âPineapple or Peaches?â
âPineapple, please.â Will said, drooling as she placed the open can in his hands. The two of them plop down criss-cross applesauce, sighing with relief that they could finally take a rest.
âWeâll have to take what we can, but donât make your bag too heavy in case we need to run again. Got it?â She replies, sliding over a bottle of water to him too. He nods, and takes a second to chug some liquid too.
One can was enough for now, since none of them had any clue how long theyâll be here, theyâll need to ration what they can find. Food, water, a first aid kit, some mittens and hats, an extra jacket, socks (And Will was proud to find a half box of matches laying around).
âDo we need anything else?â He asked, making her think.
She hums, and feels around her pockets. âWe need more ammo. Or another gun at least.â
âDo you have any?âÂ
âNo. I donât.â She closes her eyes. Now where could we get more nearby?Â
But the more she thought about it, the more she dreaded. She does know one place they have a gun, and hopefully still does since itâs been so long.Â
She sighs. âI know⌠one place that has a gun. Itâs far though. Really far. Itâll take us a couple hours to get there on foot. But itâs closer than going to town.âÂ
âIf thatâs what we have to do, then letâs do it.â Will said, sliding his backpack back on, ready to start their journey again. He flashes her a goofy grin. âI hope I can count this as PE for school.â
If that was a joke to cheer her up then it totally worked.Â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Now that they might have a lead, the police and its volunteers spread out in the woods behind Bennyâs diner, hoping to find some good news (For Hopperâs sake he really hopes so).Â
âHey, you think Earl really saw Will?â Callahan asked, trying to keep up with his Bossâ speed. âI mean, whatâs he doinâ with a shaved head? And stealing food from Benny?â
âTell you what, when we find him, weâll ask.â Hopper replies, with an attitude.Â
âCanât ask a corpse questions.â Powell said, getting a glare. Suddenly, one of the volunteers blew a whistle.Â
âHold up! You got something?â Hopper shouted and broke into a sprint. âHey, what do you got?â
âNot sure.â The person said, crouching down next to a drain. âMaybe nothing. I found this. In there.â
Hopper takes a piece of fabric from his hand, before shining his flashlight through the drain, still hopeful that maybe he was lying in there, scared but safe.Â
âNo way a kid crawls through there.â Powell said, in denial.
âI donât know⌠a scared enough one might. His brother said he was good at hiding.â
âYeah, but, just Will?â Callahan asked, conflicted. âWhat happened to Stephanie? âCause there ainât no way a teenagerâs going to fit through this drain pipe.â
âMaybe they separated?â Powell questioned.Â
âIâm not so sure about that. Claudia said her daughter would never leave anyone behind.â
âWillingly that is.â
âCome on, you two.â Hopper said, jogging again.
This time, they decided to follow the drain pipe that led them further into the forest. Just as their knees were about to give out, theyâre met with an electric fence and a keep out sign for the one and onlyâŚ
âEl?â Mike announces his arrival into the basement. He had just finished having dinner with his family, and even convinced his mom to let his friends stay the night. All part of his plan to figure out what was happening to his missing family.
âNo adults. Just us and some meatloaf.â He continues, placing a tray down in front of the makeshift fort, letting her know to come out. Her eyes trail to him and then to the two boys falling behind. âDonât worry. They wonât tell anyone about you. They promise. Right?â
âWe never wouldâve upset you if we knew you had superpowers.â Dustin said, before getting hit in the leg by Mike. âOw!â
âWhat Dustin is trying to say is that they were just scared⌠earlier. Thatâs all.â
âWe just wanted to find our friends.â Lucas admitted, feeling a tad guilty for his actions.Â
ââFriendsâ?â El asked, confused by that word. It was so foreign to her. What does it even mean?Â
âYeah, friends. Will? Steph?â
âWhat are âfriendsâ?âÂ
Lucas gave her a weird look. âIs she serious?â Henderson shrugged. âUm, a friendââ
âIs someone that youâd do anything for.â Mike cuts in.Â
âYou lend them your cool stuff, like comic books and trading cards.â Dustin adds.
âAnd they never break a promise.â
âEspecially when thereâs spit.â Lucas also puts in, making sure she was getting it.
âSpit?â El said, tilting her head.
âA spit swear meansââ He spits into his palm. âYou never break your word.â He holds his hand out for Dustin to take and shake. âItâs a bond.â
Mike nods in agreement. âThatâs super important, because friends⌠they tell each other things. Things that parents donât know.â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
Barbara finally pulls the car over to the side after her friend insisted they stop here. She looks over at the brunette with a strange look. âWhat are we doing here? His house is three blocks away.â
âWe canât park in the driveway.â Nancy said, making the ginger roll her eyes.
âAre you serious?â
âYeah, the neighbors might see.â
âThis is so stupid.â Barb shakes her head. âIâm just gonna drop you off.â
âCalm down, Barb. Come on. You promised that youâd go.â Nancy pleaded with her âbaby doeâ face. âYouâre coming. Weâre gonna have a great time.â
âHe just wants to get in your pants.â
Nancy chuckles with disbelief. âNo, he doesnât.â
âNance⌠seriously. He invited you to his house. His parents arenât home. Come on, you are not this stupid.â
âTommy H. and Carol are gonna be there.â
âTommy and Carol have been having sex since, like, seventh grade.â Barb cringes at the thought. âItâll probably just be, like, a big orgy.â
âGross.â
âIâm serious!â
âAll right, wellâŚâ Nancy takes her seat belt off and starts unbuttoning her sweater. âYou can be, like, my guardian. All right? Make sure I donât get drunk and do anything stupid.â
âUgh.â Barb said, shaking her head. She watches as her friend takes her top off and starts fiddling around in her purse for another one. âIs that a new bra?â
Nancy pauses. âNo.â
âSo, obvious, NancyâŚâ
âHey.â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°Â
âWhatâs the weirdo doing?â Lucas asked, watching her sit at their D&D table and close her eyes.Â
âEl?â Mike said, as they gathered around, waiting.
When she opens her eyes, she slowly gravitates to one of the pieces and picks it up. âWill.â She replies, showing it was the Wizard piece, the one that the boy always plays as.
âSuperpowers.â Dustin said, as Lucas rolled his eyes, still not convinced about this whole thing.Â
âDid you see him? On Mirkwood? Do you know where he is?â Mike asks, just before she brushes the rest of the figures off the board and flips it over. She places the wizard piece on the board. âI donât understand.â
âHiding.â She replies, the boys looking at one another. She then places another figure down, surprising them.
âWho is that supposed to be?â Lucas asked, as Dustin perked up.
âThe Ranger. Is that Stephanie?â He asked, as she nodded. âAre they hiding?â She nods again. âTogether.â Another nod.
âFrom the bad men?â Mike asked, but she shakes her head in disappointment. âThen from who?â
And without saying another word she places another figure down.
It was a beast with two heads.
It took a while like she said, and luckily they had no trouble getting there, but what was troubling the young boy was that she wouldnât tell him where they were going. Was she embarrassed by this place? Did something happen? He doesnât know, but itâs gnawing at him.
âWeâve arrived.â She said, as they were coming up to it.
It was⌠a pretty big house, much bigger than his and even his friendsâ houses. He wonders if this was one of the rich neighbourhoods or something like that. And sure enough⌠his questions would be answered when he happened to catch the name on the mailbox.Â
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Now he understands why she didnât say anything.Â
âSo this is theâŚâ Was he choosing his words correctly? âThe Kingâs house?â
âYep.â Stephanie said, hand on the doorknob which miraculously opened. She rolls her blue eyes. âThey still keep it unlocked.â They stepped inside, still gloomy and covered in vines and goo like the last two. âLetâs go upstairs.â
Will follows behind, observing everything that seemed a bit foreign for him. âI knew they were rich but I didnât know they were that rich.â He said after observing art piece after art piece that he knows isnât locally made.
âYeah, they got crazy money.â She said, and her pace seemed to quicken without her noticing. She hustles into the parents room, opening the closet to find a safe. âShit.â She forgot about the lock. âWhere did that bastard put the key?â
Stephanie starts running around the bedroom, pulling open drawers, looking through trinkets, his wifeâs jewelry box too â A curse word after every failed attempt.
âSteph?â Will said, worriedly.
âJust give me a second.â She snapped, and left the room. She starts opening the drawers from the tables in the hallway, visibly getting more annoyed with each second. âFor fuck sakesââ
âStephanie!â
âWhat?!â She slammed it shut, rattling everything that was on. The force and her tone seemed to shock him, and even take a small step back. She grips the table, closing her eyes to calm herself. âFuck. I justâŚâ
And when she opens them she finds herself staring at the boy she wanted to forget about. It was a picture of him on his swim team, the frame saying: Championship 1981. She just stares at with emotions the youngest Byers couldnât figure out what they were.
âSteph?â He asked, slowly.
âYeah?â
âWhat happened to you and Steve?â
She continues to stare at the photo for another minute before pushing herself to stand. âI think he still keeps that knife in his room.â Was what she muttered before heading in the opposite direction to another room.Â
Will could only wonder what really happened to themâŚ
Inside the most âfabulousâ party of the year, Barb laid back in one of the pool chairs, listening to the terrible music thatâs blasting in her ear as her best friend watches her boyfriend slice a hole into a beer can and start drinking it all in one go.
âIs that supposed to impress me?â Nancy asked, as he sat down and lit a cigarette.Â
âYouâre not?â Steve asked, genuinely surprised.Â
âYou are a cliche, you do realize that?â
âYou are a cliche. What with yourâ your grades and your band practice.â
âIâm so not in band.â
âOkay, party girl. Why donât you just, uh, show us how itâs done, then?â He hands her the knife and a can.
âOkay.â She says, all giggly.
âYou gotta make a little hole right inââ
âI got it.â
âYeah, sheâs smart, you douche!â Tommy said, as he crushes his own can on his forehead.Â
Soon, everyone was chanting âChugâ as Nancy down a whole beer in under thirty seconds. Everyone cheered and laughed, proud at the achievement.Â
âBarb, you wanna try?â Nancy asked, holding the blade up.
âWhat? No. No, I donât want to. Thanks.â She said, shaking her head. But after a quick back and forth badgering she finally gave in. She rips the items out of the girlâs hand, clearly upset. It wasnât long before her judgment was clouding her mind and accidentally nicks herself.Â
âWhoa, Gnarly.â Tommy said, impressed by the deep cut.
âAre you okay?â Nancy asked, worriedly.
âYeah.â Barb said, trying to push her away.Â
âBarb, youâre bleeding.â
âIâm fine. Whereâs your bathroom?â
âOh, itâsâ Steve stands up, and starts taking her over to the sliding door. âItâs, uh, down past the kitchen, to the left.â He frowns. Shit of course.
But before he could say anything, Tommy had pushed Carol into the pool and then jumped in after her. Steve then shrugs, and lets a smirk play on his face as he does the same to Nancy before doing a cannonball.
Steph tries to contain herself as she enters his room. It was taking a lot of strength not to just start flipping things over, and tear those stupid pendants off the wall.
Stupid fucking house. Stupid fucking room. Stupid fucking Harrington. She grits her teeth, fighting back the tears in her eyes as she desperately tries to remember where he hid the blade.
She lets out a groan. âFor fuck sakeâs, man! Where did you put it?!â She yells, and kicks whatever was near her. She swears something must have fallen out from it, but she doesnât even want to look.Â
God damn you, Harrington. She scolds, and rubs her face. How can heâ
Thatâs when the light in his room flickered on and off scaring her half to death. âWhat theââ
As soon as Barb comes out of the bathroom, she immediately spots a certain someone heading up the stairs. âNance! Nancy.â She shouts, getting her to stop. âWhere are you going?â
âNowhere. Just⌠upstairs. To change. I⌠fell in the pool.â Nancy said, feeling like she was on cloud nine. âWhy donât you go ahead and go home. Iâll just⌠Iâll get a ride or something.â
âNanceââ
âBarb, Iâm fine.â
âThis isnât you.â
âIâm fine. Just go ahead and go home, okay?âÂ
And then Nancy leaves her all alone, confused and heartbroken by her friendâs actions. But despite being hurt, she couldnât just up and leave her drunken buddy like this. SoâŚÂ
She decides to wait.
Meanwhile, upstairs, Steve had found her some clothes she could change in, and he was grinning like a kid upon the thought of seeing his girlfriend in his clothes.Â
Iâm such a dork. He tells himself as she calls out his name. âYeah?â There was a look in her eyes that heâs never seen before, and honestly was turned on by it.
But âFuck thatâ, says the universe, and the home phone starts to ring.
He groans, irritated. âHang on a secondââ He proceeds to run out of the room, and shouts, âHey! Turn the music down in case itâs my parents.â
Nancy chuckles, cheeks flush because she was ready to lose herâ wait. Did something just touch her leg? She looks down to find that a box was tipped over and had opened, and wonders when that happened. Did she accidently kick it without realizing? Or was it already like that? Frankly, curiosity got the best of her as she crouched down to try to fix it. But then, her actions slowed when she saw something.
The Wheeler picks up a paper â a flier â to her surprise was the missing poster of Stephanie Henderson.Â
âWhat?â She says, quietly, confusedly. Why was he keeping this? And thatâs when she puts two and two together. She starts shifting through the small pile which was made up of photos, movie tickets, receipts from a record store, arcade tokens andâ âOh, my god.â
Suddenly, Steve comes jogging back in, relief on his face. âFalse alarm. It was justââ
âSo who is she to you?â Nancy asked, standing up and flashing the memorabilia at him.
His face falls immediately. âHey, thatâsââ
âIs she the person that was rumored you pushed away?â
âItâs nothing.â Steve replies, trying to take the stuff away from her, but she ainât budging.
âItâs nothing, or sheâs nothing?â
âItâsâ W-What? You jealous?â He asked, trying to play this thing off cool, but his girlfriend wasnât stupid.
âIâm not jealous. Iâm just curious.â Nancy replies, honestly. She takes another look at the photos in her hand before looking back at him. âI mean, if she isnât your friend anymore, then why do you hang on to all this stuff? Or better questionââ
âNancy, stop, itâs justââ
âWhy did you break it off?â
His brain short circuits again. âWhat?â
âI said, âWhy did you break it off?â I meanâŚâ She flips through some of the photos he has, memorized. âFrom what I see, you two remind me of Barb and I. You two look like you were tied at the hip. So why break it off?â
âIâŚâ Why couldnât he fucking talk all of a sudden? âI didnât, Iââ
âSo, she broke it off?â She said, eyebrow raised.Â
âNo. I-I broke it off, she didnât do anythingââ
âSo⌠why did you?â
âNancyââ
âLook, I just want to understand you. I mean, every time I think I have you figured out you throw me through a loop.â She gives him a reassuring look as she picks up the box, shuffling whatever was remaining around. âI mean, from what I see, you seem like a completely different person then. I just wonder if itâs a good thing or a badââÂ
Now it was her turn to look lost (and for Steve to lose all the color in his face). She frowns, slowly pulling out a small casing. âIs this a⌠bullet?â
âThatâs nothing!â He manages to snag at least that away.
âWhy do you have a bullet in the box?!â She asks, eyes blown wide.
He swallows. âNancyââ
âDid you shoot her or something?â
âWhat?!â He scoffs. âNo! Why would I shoot her?!â
âWell did she shoot you?â
âNo! Nobody shot anybody, it was justââ
âThen why do you have a stray bullet casââ
ââCAUSE IT WAS MY FAULT!! OKAY?!â Steve snaps, startling them both (He canât believe he just lost his cool like that). He swallows again, head spinning at the memories (Why did he fucking leave the box right there?). âI just⌠there was an incident and⌠it⌠shaped my decision, okay? But it didnât involve me or her with a gun, it was⌠s-someone else. Someone I know. I donât know why Iâm holding onto it, IâŚâ He sighs and grabs the box, holding it out for her to put the stuff away.
It takes her a moment to process it all, and she does put all the stuff in her hands away, but she remains silent the whole time. Sheâs never seen him act this way before.
It honestly concerned her.
Nancy breaks eye contact, and only reverses it when she gathers the right words. âLook, Steve, Iâm sorry I intruded, I probably shouldnât have but⌠Iâm just trying to understand you.â
Steve shakes his head, still confused. âI-IâŚâ He shrugs, and crosses his arms defensibly. âWhatâs there to understand?â
Nancy gestures to him and says, âWell, for starters, youâre an airhead andââ
âSo?â He cuts in, as she holds her tongue and continues.Â
âAnd youâre arrogant, snarky, and sweetââ
âSweetâs fine.â
âOf course. Sweetâs fine. I love how nice you are to me, Steve.â She then frowns for him. âHowever, that gets overshadowed by your⌠insecurities.â
He pauses, now it was his turn to take in those words (What the hell did she mean by that? Heâs not⌠no). âI donât⌠I donât have any⌠anyââ
âSteve.â Nancy takes a step closer. âI donât know why the kid in these pictures decided to change into the one Iâm seeing before me, but if that doesnât have to do with any insecurities, then Iâm not sure why you decided to make that change willingly.â
âI⌠W-Willingly?â He scoffs again. âWhat do you mean? I never change willingly? What are you even getting at, Nance?â He hasnât changed. Heâs never changed. What is she even getting at?
But Nancy looked at him with eyes full of pity and took another step closer. âI donât know what the reason was for you two to stop being friends, but all I know, from what I gathered, she wasnât the one to end it.â She places Stephâs flier on his chest that he subconsciously grabbed, and said one last thing before leaving his room. And that was,
âMaybe there was a good reason for you to end it, but thatâs not an excuse for you to stop being who you really are.â
And Steveâs left with an epiphany heâs not sure he can decipher.Â
â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°â˘Â°
|| NOW ||Â
As soon as the lock was broken, she retrieved the gun from the safe and frantically told her companion to get down the stairs. Will and Stephâs hearts were in their ears, and it sped up when the light above the front door flickered.
âShitââ She pulls the boy to a halt, and redirects them to the back door. âGo, go, go, go, go.âÂ
She throws open the sliding door, and out into the backyard, but as soon as they step foot onto the ground, the lights around the empty pool start to flicker. The two of them stopped immediately and held their breaths. They werenât sure where the beast was at, but it was definitely nearby ready to snatch them up.
They were afraid to even breathe or twitch. What if this thing really does appear out of thin air?
They both jolted when a loud growl came from somewhere inside the pool. Wasting no time, Steph taps Will on the arm and makes a shushing gesture, then waves him to follow her. The boy understood completely, and the two of them move slowly, so carefully that thereâs not wayâ
The both of them screamed when two human hands grabbed onto the top of the pool ladder.Â
A girlâs head poked up, face battered and covered in grime, her glasses shattered and splattered with blood. The girl looked so famâ
âNancy!!â She shouts, as something growls behind her, scaring all of them to their core. And when her eyes landed on the two of them, she desperately yelled for help just seconds before the beastâs claws wrapped around her head and pulled her back.Â
Will and Steph matched the girlâs scream, and the beast roared in delight that his prey was just right in front of it. Its claws could be seen grabbing the ladder, like it was trying to crawl out and feast.
Thatâs when the two of them booked it.Â
The guns rattled in their hands.
The tears in their eyes.
Whatever this place was, they knewâŚ
our house
summary: when you and steve move in together, your house becomes a regular hangout spot for dustin and his friends.
pairing: steve harrington x henderson!sister reader
title đľ: our house by madness
You and Steve have started living together. Youâre renting a house in Hawkins, not far from your mom and Dustin. You and Steve stayed in town because you wanted to clean up the mess that Vecna made after opening the gates. You both want to be here to help defeat Vecna and close off the gate to the Upside Down once and for all.
The house you're renting is pretty nice. It has 3 bedrooms, including a master bedroom with a private bathroom for you and Steve. You were able to rent the house very cheap because so many people had fled Hawkins after Vecna opened the gate.
Since moving in, Dustin and his friends have started coming over almost on a daily basis. Your house, along with the Wheelersâ basement, has become one of the official hangouts for the party. You and Steve donât mind. Besides stopping Vecna, another reason you remained in Hawkins was so you could stay close to your friends and family - especially your little brother. You and Steve actually kind of like providing a safe space for the kids to hangout.Â
Sometimes the kids crash for the night in one of the spare rooms or on the couch. Tonight happens to be one of those nights⌠Dustin, Erica and Lucas are all staying over. The three kids ended up at your place for different reasons.Â
Dustin came over because your mom is working the overnight shift and you didnât want your little brother to spend the night home alone. Heâs at your house so often that he basically has his own room already.
Erica showed up unannounced. She got into a stupid fight with her mom and needed some space to cool off. Erica told her parents that she was spending the night at her friend Tinaâs but she went over to your house because Tina doesnât have Duck Hunt.Â
Lucas asked if he could crash at your place because he was staying late at the hospital to visit Max again and he didnât want his parents to know. Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair are trying to get Lucas to stop visiting Max all the time. They want him to move on from what happened but he canât. Lucas loves Max and he will visit her in the hospital every day until she wakes up. So to avoid getting into an argument, Lucas lied to his parents. He told them he was spending the night at Dustinâs. Luckily his parents didnât question it.Â
Truth be told, Lucas actually prefers spending time with his friends after visiting Max. You guys know what really happened to her and whatâs going on in Hawkins. Lucas loves his parents but sometimes they just donât understand.
It was a pretty lowkey, quiet night in the Henderson/Harrington household. Erica set the table while you got dinner ready. You made a casserole. The recipe was given to you by Mrs. Wheeler. After dinner, Steve and Dustin cleaned the dishes. You read a book on the couch and Erica played Duck Hunt until Lucas arrived from the hospital. Then you all hung out in the living room and watched a movie that Steve brought home from the video store.
Now itâs getting late. Dustin went to sleep in his room, Erica took the other guest room and Lucas is crashing on the couch. You and Steve are in your room, getting ready for bed.
âGood call getting The Goonies for movie night! I think the kids really loved it,â you smile.
âThey better have loved it! It was the last copy at the store. I had to lie to like five different customers that asked about it,â Steve tells you.
âAre you serious?!â you laugh.
Steve nods. You look at your boyfriend with heart eyes.
âThatâs actually kinda sweet,â you say softly.
Steve smirks, raising an eyebrow.
âOh yeah?â
You nod your head, about to reply back, when-
BOOM
Suddenly the entire house starts to violently shake. Earthquakes have been more frequent in Hawkins since Vecna opened the gate, but they are still something that youâre not used to. This is one of the bigger earthquakes youâve experienced. The force is so strong that you fall to the ground.
âY/N!â
Steve stumbles to get to you. He wraps his arm around your waist and pulls you up to your feet. You stay by his side, clutching onto each other for support.Â
And then, just as abruptly as it started, the earthquake stops. You and Steve stay silent for a beat, bracing yourselves for any aftershock. The room remains still.
âIs it over?â you ask, uneasy.
âI think so,â Steve cautiously replies under his breath.
You and Steve let go of each other. A million thoughts are racing through your head, but the most important-
âWe need to check on the kids,â you say with a quiet urgency in your voice.
âYeah,â your boyfriend nods in agreement. You both feel like concerned parents right now.
You and Steve leave your room to find Erica standing by her doorway.Â
âSo you all felt that too? Iâm not crazy!â Erica exclaims.
Steve sighs, shaking his head. You quickly look Erica up and down to make sure she isnât injured.
âAre you okay?â you ask.
âIâm fine,â Erica tells you, âBut we should probably go check on Lucas downstairs.â
You and your boyfriend exchange eye contact, silently communicating. You already know what the other is thinking. Heâll go downstairs with Erica to make sure Lucas is ok while you check up on your little brother.
âLetâs go,â Steve nods to Erica.
Steve and Erica head towards the stairs and you continue down the hall to Dustinâs room.
KNOCK, KNOCK
âHey Dusty! Are you alright?â
You wait a beat. No response. You take a deep breath and try again.
KNOCK, KNOCK
âDustin!â
Still no response. Now youâre worried. You attempt to open the door but itâs stuck.
âShit!â you curse to yourself.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
âCâmon Dustin! Open the door! Dustin?!â
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
Youâre frantically knocking at your brotherâs door when Steve comes back upstairs. He can tell something is wrong and rushes over to you.
âY/N! Whatâs going on?â your boyfriend asks.
âDustin isnât responding,â you anxiously reply.
Steve tries opening the door but it wonât budge.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK
âHey Henderson! Câmon man, open up!â Â
No response. Steve shrugs.
âAll right, thatâs it! Iâm gonna kick the door open,â he tells you.
Steve takes a deep breath, mentally readying himself to kick down the door, when-
CREAK
The door opens a crack and Dustin squeezes his way out.Â
âDustin! Are you okay?!âÂ
You pull your little brother into a big hug.
âYou scared the shit out of me, dork!â
Steve lets out a sigh of relief. He stands back to let you have a moment with your brother.Â
âOh, uh, sorry. Iâm okay. I couldnât get out because the bureau fell over and is blocking the door,â Dustin explains. He was able to move the bureau over enough to get out of the room but itâs too heavy for him to lift by himself.
âDo you need help moving it out of the way?â Steve offers.
Dustin nods.
Your boyfriend and brother squeeze through the door to get back into Dustinâs room. Together, they lift up the bureau and move it back to where it was before the earthquake hit. After theyâre done pushing the bureau out of the way, Steve pats Dustin on the head. Heâs just relieved that the kid is alright.
thunder step | đđđđ˘đ đŚđŽđ§đŹđ¨đ§ đą đŤđđđđđŤ
summary you are Dustinâs older sister, you and Eddie used to be friends but havenât seen eachoter in a while, Dustin needs a sub for Hellfire tonight and you agree to go. (2,3k)
warnings fem!reader, fluff, hurt/comfort, eddie as a DM, mutual pining, yearning etc, slowburn friends to lovers, idiots in love!!!, multi post fic?, english is not my first language so I apologise if thereâs some mistakes, not proof read!
âFor Fuck sakeâs, please?â you ignore him once again. âIâll do the washing up for you.â still, nothing comes out of your lips. âIâll wash your car for a monthâ now that does sound more interesting.Â
âCar wash, and the new Black Sabbath cassetteâ You demand.Â
âJesus what do you think that Iâm made of money?â Your eyebrow raises, you know for a fact that he has way more money than anyone else in your house.Â
The silence that you provide to him makes him reconsider the offer.Â
â Car wash, and Iâll make mum buy you the cassetteâ You nod, slightly biting your inner cheek. You look down at your little brother.Â
âOkey Dusty buns, youâve got yourself a deal.â He giggles in respond, grabbing your hand and running eagerly to your car demanding to leave your house right at this second. âJeez kid, your little meeting is hours away, and I need to get my old stuff, so youâll wait.â You inform him, arms crossed in your chest, back reclaimed to the threshold.Â
âMâkay. Let me call Mike then, tell him I found our sub, so he can tell Eddie.â You frown at the mention of his name.Â
âEdd still runs Hellfire?â You ask, curious to learn that the boy that sat behind you last year in Maths, is still in that shithole.Â
âOh, yeah. Kinnda forgot you knew him.â You feel heat coming to your cheeks all of a sudden. You nod fast and head to your room to try and find your old Hellfire stuff.Â
Yes, you used to be in Hellfire. Yes, of course you knew Eddie. Itâs not like you werenât friends anymore, you just stopped hanging around where he usually was. And since your last PC was killed in last yearâs campaign, you didnât really have an interest in starting one this year.Â
You had enough, working with Steve and Robin at Family Video, getting over everything that happened at Starcourt, helping your little brother Dustin when he needed and wanted your help, taking care of your house, now that your mom spent more and more time at work. Leaving for entire weeks, even if they sometimes felt like months.Â
With everything going through your head, absentmindedly, you got on your floor. Looking directly to your last drawer, pulling it open and finding your little figurines. There was a character that you never got to use, and you are positive that Eddie would lose his mind, if you roll well enough and are lucky enough.Â
-
âYou ready, kid?â You ask Dustin once your carâs parked. He smiles, teeth finally showing.Â
âDidnât know you even had a shirt like ours' ' He giggles as he walks out the car and closes the door. You grab your backpack, and his as youâre heading out.Â
âAnd who the fuck do you think drew it?â You smile quite proudly, as his mouth opens in shock. Eyebrows raised, you nod. âUm kid, does⌠Does Eddie smoke inside?â You ask tentatively, you know heâs not fondly of you smoking, but he also knows how anxious you can get.Â
âYeah, well, sometimes, though, he does step back, and itâs usually when we are trying to figure out what our next move should be.â You nod, and touch his shoulder, as saying, thanks, go on, Iâll start in a second.Â
He understands, no words needed.Â
You grab your packet of cigarettes, Zippo in your other hand, you lit one up, and as youâre letting your body hit the wall, you look at the sky. So much more quiet that you remember.Â
You can hear a familiar van, music blasting, parking badly. And there he is. He looks just as shocked as you do when he sees you, though you only see his shock for a millisecond. He gets his Stuff out of the van, backpack hanging on his shoulder. He smirks as he walks towards you.Â
You didnât remember that he looked like that. Hair slightly longer than the last time you saw him. Muscles that seem to have gotten more defined under his jacket, his lips curving up in a smile, pinkish and with a familiarity that shocks you. As you get another drag of your cigarette he stands in front of you.Â
âYou know, I didnât believe them when they told me you were comingâ He says almost too calmly for the way he entered the scene.Â
âGood to see you too Munsonâ You smile as smoke escapes your mouth. You really do mean it.Â
His eyes get lost in you for a second. You might not realize it, but have changed too. The slightly ripped thighs that elongate your legs, the ripped shorts, the Hellfire shirt, though old and with holes, sits perfectly into your body, hugging every part of you that he might find attractive. You feel him checking you out, but you think itâs more because of the shock of seeing you here than anything else.Â
âIt really is.â He laughs, arms to his chest. As you drag the fag to your lips, his hand rises up, a question in his eyes, can I?.You nod, and he takes it, to smoke it in utter silence as you light up another one. Fingers brushing for a second.
âSoâ He starts to say, looking directly into your eyes. âCome so I can kill another one of your PCâs?â You laugh, even if you try not to.Â
âToo soon Munson.â You chuckle looking at the ground for a second. âNo, Iâm here to kick your ass, youâll see.âÂ
âCanât waitâÂ
-
Character sheet, spell cards, the multiple die, it all lies in front of you. But youre enchanted by Eddie and his storytelling. He leans closer to the table, hair brushing his face, a smile creeping into his face, you think that whatever is coming up next canât be good. And if you are being sincere with yourself, you arenât really paying attention to what heâs saying, more so than the way heâs moving as he does. Hand on the table, strong grip, enough so to make his veins show in his arm, as he propels his body up and announces that Vecna is, once again, alive.Â
The entire table bursts into various screams. Your face, pure shock. He smiles, and gives you a little wink. What the fuck was that you think.Â
Your party starts to attack, and as your roll for initiative was low, -enough to make Eddie chuckle, and for you to glare at him with daggers in your eyes- you wait patiently for your turn. A lot of your party members have died - all be it, only dropped to 0 Hit Points, not permanently dead like you did-, and they just Captured Dustinâs PC. You nod as you know what you must do.Â
âI got you kid, donât worry.â He looks at you, puzzled.Â
âYou sure?â He asks, panic in his voice.Â
âYeah, am sure. Scout's honour.â You say as you take your tongue out, making a silly face so his shoulders relax a bit. You see Eddie standing up and taking a step back, as he loses his hand in his front pocket, and you stare, maybe a little bit too hard, and he grabs a cig, and looks down on you.Â
âAnd as so happens mâlady, itâs going to be your turn next, so, if you delight us with what it is that you intend to do.â He teases. Smirk in his face, eyes lost in yours. And your heart is beating faster and faster.Â
âOkay soâ You stand up. Hands on the table, chest pushing forwards pointing at him. Your hair moving everywhere as you look at him, smoke disappearing out of his mouth. âSo I was with Mike, so Iâm probably right around here.â You ask as you point to the board, your mini hasnât entered the board since the fight started so you needed to make sure you were right. Eddie nods, looking right at where youâre pointing. âRad, okey.â Your left hand goes to your chin, and as you stroke it, a smile forming in your face you say âSo with Tempestuous Magic, before I cast a first level or higher, I can fly 10 feet?âÂ
He begins to smile, you can tell heâs excited to see you play again. His eyes seem to glow brighter than before.
âThat sounds rightâ He reassures you. Youâve cracked it. And hope youâll blow his mind away.Â
âSo I can, like, run through here and then fly 10 feet over these, whatever they are, âcause I donât take opportunity attacks.â You smile as you begin to explain your move.Â
Starstruck as he seems he nods and says in shock, mouth open and beaming with excitement.
 âYou absolutely can, yes.âÂ
âOkay, awesome.â You look at the board once again. â So I get here and, before I cast anything, who all is within 10 feet of me?â You need to be absolutely sure that the higher command to Vecna is close, if he is itâs going to be awesome.Â
âUm, that would be Dustin, who is down underneath the gallows and other than that, the second in command to Vecnaâs army.â He says with a pride so high at his well played round.Â
Your smile grows bigger.Â
âPerfectâ You purr out. He sits back to his throne, cigarette finished and in the ashtray. â Okay, so what Iâm gonna do is,um⌠Iâm Gonna do a fourth level Thunder Step. I'm grabbing Dustin to come with me.â You declare triumphantly. You are basically teleporting next to him and saving your little brother's ass, if this works out.Â
As he realizes what youâve just told him. his mouth opens and glares at you, Shock and glee evident on his face. âYou can pick one person to come with you.â He almost whispers. Your skin tingling as you hear his voice so low yet deep. Your face, with a bright smile, still higher than he is, looks down at him. Your smile grows wider, and cheeks turning ever so slightly pink.Â
âIndeed I do, dear Edds. So, Iâm doing a fourth level Thunder Step, and Iâm also using my Channel Divinity, um, Destructive Wrath.â His face turns slightly white. Yours beams with joy. Your party is finally catching up to what youâre doing. âBasically, this allows me to do max damage in an attack of my choosing once a day.â You inform everyone at that table, as you read over your card spell once again. âSo basically theyâre all taking 40 points of damage, and then since I cast lightning spell, theyâre also all gonna take another 3. And then.â As you stop to gather some air, you see Eddieâs face. Both parts are equal, shocked, pissed and proud of you. You can feel your cheeks burning, seeing him like that. Under your spell. âIâm gonna use Quicken Spell to do Spare the Dying on Dustin as I teleport them back in here.â Your eyebrows rise up as you start giggling.Â
Your party is looking at you, they start to go wild.Â
Eddie's face is frozen in complete shock.Â
In a single round of combat youâve managed, not only to save your little brother, but also to fuck his army up considerably. He smiles up at you, finger to his temple, moving forwards from his throne. Biting his lower lip as he looks you up and down.
âYoâŚâ Mike says in complete shock âHoly shit, Oh my godâ He keeps repeating.Â
âWeâre gonna fuck you up Munson, she read the rule book!â You catch Garret hyping you up and your smugness grows as you step back like he did only a second ago, so you can smoke in peace. Basking in your glory.Â
âHell yeah.â Dustin finally says as he looks at you. You can tell heâs proud of you.Â
Eddie gets all flustered and finally meets your eyes. Though mad, he canât stop smiling at you.Â
âYou did, ah, what, you didâ He mumbles contemplating you, up and down. You get lost in his eyes for a second.Â
â43 damage to everyone within 10 feet of me.â You tell him. Smoke pushing to him.Â
âBut not toâŚâ He can even finish his sentence. Too shocked to process.Â
âBut not to him, because heâs coming with me. And since I spared them, theyâre no longer dying.â You grab your spell card, and flicker it at him. He grabs it in his hand, it shows through his rings as he reads it once over.Â
âFuck me Henderson.â He lets out, hands in his hair, satisfied with a grin in his face.Â
âJust did.â For a moment it truly seems to only be you two. Until you remember where you are. âAnd it's called payback.âÂ
He laughs, god you missed his laugh. He looks at you once more, and as he nods, he winks at you. âWell played, Henderson.â He stands up once again. âHow did you know that he had such low HP?â He asks, forgetting that you two are not alone in this room.Â
The table loses their shit, this implies that potentially, you just killed a big bad villain.Â
âYou forget.â Your chin up, as you walk slowly to him. âI DMâd for you last year, and youâve got the same guidebook as I do.â You fist bump him playfully into his chest. His mouth opens in shock, as he covers it, you can hear the entire table going crazy. and your touch growing warmer where your hand connected to his chest.
âTHIS IS AMAZINGâ Your little brother proclaims. You bow theatrically, as they cheer for you, calling your name and your PCâs name.Â
You return to your seat, this time it's Eddie who canât stop looking at you. Your cheeks become even pinker. Youâre really happy with how this played out.Â
