Storyspin Papyrus

Undertale belongs to Toby Fox. Storyspin is an Undertale AU created by RousJuice back in 2016, which was later adopted by Keno9988. So, far from what I’ve found, development on the AU has slowed down due to a lack of interest.

Within the AU Papyrus turns into the annoying dog/Toby. So I wanted to make my interpretation of what I believe Storyspin Papyrus does. Papyrus died a while after Sans. His big brother died of sickness while Papyrus continued to live, missing his brother. One day while out playing a human was roaming about doing a neutral run, this human didn't have the ability to reset or anything they wouldn't spare all the monsters they came across. One of the monsters killed was Papyrus.

Because of Papyrus’ death Queen Alphys declared war on humans. While queen Undyne ran away to the ruins. When Papyrus was brought back to life in the form of the annoying dog. Running around in confusion trying to figure out what happened and what was going on. Learning that in the tragedy of his death almost everyone had forgotten about Sans, everyone mostly remembering him for the brutal way he died by the hands of the human.

Papyrus is angry that everyone forgot about his brother, but tried to get others to remember him by pulling pranks and making jokes. Doing things he knew his brother would like but couldn’t find them interesting in his new form. His anger and frustration only grew and in his new soulless state his pranks started to become twisted and dark. Soon he learned he could cause resets. Going through pacifist, neutral, and genocide routes doing whatever he wants out of boredom and wanting people to suffer for forgetting his brother.

Eventually he loses his reset ability because Frisk fell into the underground and took his ability to reset away from him. So, he decides to see what interesting things could happen. From this I worked on making all the different forms of Storyspin Papyrus. Now, because of this Papyrus has many different forms, his annoying dog/ Toby form, his child form, The form that I’ve titled the God of Coolness, World Destroyer, and finally the Photoshop form.

Decided to draw Paps and Sans from the AU Storyspin (and yes I made Paps a human since- if Papyrus is in Asriels role and Sans is in Chara and- I mean I ASSUME they both died the same way Azzy and Chara do then it makes no sense if Paps was also a skeleton monster to get through the barrier since it needs one human soul fused with a monster to pass through it, soooooooooo yeah)

A take on storyspin

Gaster -> Frisk (comic)

In general, I like that almost every main character in Undertale has a resemblance to at least one character.

Papyrus for example:

1. With Asriel. I think this would explain why one of the reasons why Flowey is so interested in spending time with Papyrus. Therefore, he also sees his past self in him. The same friendly, hopeful monster who wants to make friends with everyone and show his strengths(StoryShift moment). They both have images where they are presented in a more powerful guise(there was photo of Papyrus with muscles and wearing sunglasses,and Asriel literally drew himself as a God of Hyperdeath lol). Both are, in the fandom's mind, "too pure for this world."

2.With Mettaton. There are basically no questions here. Papyrus is a fan of Mettaton and his show. Both love to cook and in a rather strange way. Both love to be the center of attention. And also, of course, loves making the puzzles that our main kid had to solve. If we also take into account that Mettaton, like Papyrus, has a relative who is his complete opposite (the same story with Asriel and Chara), (StorySpin moment..).

3.Flowey. Sight… StorySpin moment again.. Yeah lol, just look into those “empty and lifeless” eyes of Papyrus. That universe where Papyrus switch places with Flowey/Asriel(only on Papyrus’s side) already says a lot. All these similarities and parallels… I think the phrase “you become what you once hated” would be perfect.

Comparing Papyrus and Asriel was the most interesting for me. And no wonder. After all, these guys really have a lot in common. When I look at art or comic where Papyrus is a child, he seriously reminds me of Asriel.

Brand Mew Future: Toriel takes the role of Undyne. She isn't exactly the Toriel you know and love as she is much more stern, aloof, and detached from everyone due to certain events that struck both her family and friends altogether. Not to mention, she resorts to unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with her anguish which ultimately distorts her temperament.

Hands of Reality: Toriel takes the role of Papyrus. She's that type of grandma who makes a lot of cookies to make her grandchildren happy. The reason she looks so old is because her son Asriel is still alive and growing. Nevertheless, she is happier and is living the life she's always wanted! In a way, her character feels complete with a lot of development done in the background. Especially with the fact that she and Asgore have a healthier relationship here.

MinusShift - Coral Highways Main Cast

Frisk - 8th Fallen human, carries the red soul trait, with a little differential on it. They're very clumsy.

Initial equipment :

Umbrella - Your only piece from home. Can't be unequipped.

Band-Aid - Sticky. It is double-faced, while on inventory can be used to restore 10 HP.

Galah - Three beings for the price of one! They want to be the coolest on the underground . . . You're an obstacle.

Undyne - Vice president and commander of the underground military. Her mission is coordinate everyone to take your soul. Don't feed a shark by hand.

Dummy - An authentic training dummy. The middle part of it's body rotates, being able to attack you in battle.

Asriel - Problematic teenager, but with a good heart. Goes to the Coral Highways to help his father with flower deliveries.

My take on Storyspin

Roles are the same

Annoying Dog isn't too different besides having a rainbow scarf and Papyrus's face

Undyne former captain of the Royal Guard who retired to the Ruins. Her armor is old and rusted. Tries to peacefully bring you to the queen as her duty

Asgore is a hippie. Drinks iced tea and has a little garden. Hates confrontation and likes to be chill and laid back until you hurt those he cares about. Then you'll have a bummer time.

Toriel is a Mary Poppins figure. She wants to protect the human and guide them through Snowdin while also showing them some whimsy and fun. She uses an umbrella to fight and fly

Mettacrit is the new captain of the Royal Guard. Only took up the role for the fame and popularity. Wears a blocky suit of armor and has a helmet to reference box Mettaton. Outside the armor his ghost form resembles ex. And undying obviously resembles neo.

Napstablook is the Royal scientist and has an invisible man thing. They make music in their free time and enjoy the piano and saxophone.

Also all the soul fight and mechanics remain the same

Doggy uses bones instead of pellets but doesn't use the blue soul since he's not fully Papyrus

Undyne uses green soul and forces you to run away from her until she gets tired and lets you go.

Asgore uses red soul, orange and blue attacks, and destroys the mercy and fight buttons forcing you to stall rather than him dodging attacks like Sans. He also still has the gimmick of how his attacks damage (idk how to explain it but if you've fought him you'll know probably and how he gets faster as it continues)

Toriel uses red soul and will avoid hitting you of your HP gets low. She uses fire magic and her umbrella which will mimic Asgore's trident attack but is only ever blue. You have to repeatedly spare her.

Mettacrit is interesting since Mettaton himself doesn't actually turn your soul yellow in Undertale rather Alphys does for you to fight him so he uses a unique soul mode: Pink which doesn't change movement but will make white attacks not do damage and pink attacks do damage while in normal it's the other way around. He'll switch between the two throughout the fight and mid attack to keep you on your toes. Rather than ratings you got to gather an audience (done the same way tho) and his armor will fall apart throughout the fight. When the audience is big enough they'll convince him to let you live

Asriel, Chara, Sans, and Papyrus will be saved for later

Here ya go! Sorry if Frisk looks bad- I'm not good with humans and again these designs might change.

Questions:

Why are Sans's eyes red?:

Because he's looking at Frisk and he hates all humans. But they do turn white whenever he looks at something that isn't a human like for example Papyrus.

Why is Frisk bare foot?:

Why does yours wear shoes?- On a serious answer I just hate drawing shoes and how a hard time designing them and I just think it makes them look more child like.

What's that red thing wrapped around Sans's shoulder?:

A part of Papyrus's scarf

Does Papyrus help the human?:

Yes because of how bad monsters are here he believes it would be better if monsters are stuck in the underground.

Is Sans helpful?:

No he actually leads the human the wrong way to die

Which Aus personality did they switch with?:

Storyspin Undyne

In my imagination of this universe, Undyne is an old warrior Queen. One that helped lead the fight between humans and monsters. Rescuing whoever she could until they lost. Once sealed underground Undyne ruled alongside Queen Alphys. The two of them did what they could to keep monsters happy. As time went on Undyne’s anger and hatred towards humans slowly mellowed out. She still hated humans for starting the war and sealing monsters away, but she isn’t angry enough to rekindle war.

Eventually, she and Alphys adopted two skeleton children, Sans and his younger brother Papyrus. Every night Undyne would tell the skeletons stories from the surface, and when she was a warrior. Everything was going fine until Sans started to get sick. Where they learned that the older skeleton child's soul was weak and prone to sickness. Undyne became worried about this and tried to be positive for the two kids. Sans worried about his brother but also continued to get sicker and sicker. Needing to walk around the castle with a magic IV drip connected to his soul.

Soon Sans lost his ability to walk with how sick he got. Undyne helped him get around. At night she would take the sick skeleton to the barrier. Telling him stories of the surface. The beauty there was, along with the stars. Singing him to sleep each night. On the night Sans passed away she was holding Sans close, telling him that he’ll be okay and will soon not be in pain, turning to dust in her arms.

The family then shrunk to three. Papyrus is confused about why Sans had to leave and Undyne doing what she could to keep Papyrus happy. One day while she and Papyrus were playing in the courtyard a human that had been wandering around, doing a neutral run, had walked into the courtyard. The human then killed Papyrus, while the human was killed by the guards.

From there Alphys declared war against humans while Undyne ran off to the ruins. Her emotions turned her mind into mush as she tried to figure out what to do. She didn’t completely hate Alphys for starting a war with the humans but at the same time, she wasn’t happy. But she didn’t trust herself to talk to Alphys about it. Worried that her emotions would get in the way and make her lash out when she doesn’t want to.

While living in the ruins she managed to mostly calm down but still doesn’t leave the ruins not able to face Alphys after all the time that's passed. She does visit the exit to the ruins and eventually starts to talk to the monster that would sometimes visit the door. The two of them talk to pass the time. She eventually has the other monster promise her that they would protect a human if one were to ever leave the ruins.

While creating Undyne’s design I didn’t want to go with her wearing a dress. I don’t see her as a dress person so I looked through a few different types of clothes. I wanted her to have some clothes that showed off her old battle ready personality, so I gave her a set of black leather combat boots. I did plan on giving her a denim jacket and saving her wearing a leather jacket till she got to the surface but since I took a break from working on the piece I eventually changed my mind and gave her the leather jacket instead. So on the surface she’ll either be wearing a denim jacket or her leather jacket. Along with comfy loose fitting boot cut pants. With a short shirt that has the deltarune symbol. I also played around a little with some fish designs. Like she already had some armor fish design but I was also thinking of maybe adding some betta fish, or some angler fish inspiration or something like that. And I liked the idea of some deep sea fish features to add on so after some point I did add some on. I also gave her a betta fish pet as I didn’t want to completely scrap the betta fish idea.

I tried my best to show off what her personality once was based on her clothes. From her once stubborn brash attitude, only for that to mellow out and calm down once monsters were sealed underground and Sans and Papyrus was adopted. Being alone in the ruins didn’t help with this either.

In the background you can actually see a possible design I might use for Alphys. There were also some features on Undyne that weren’t added till later on in the work like the angler light and vampire fish fangs.

Sorry for the late response, but this one is for ya!

Galah is basically the papyru's flowey equivalent, now why he is still a flower? simple: I do consider flowey as a kinda separated character from Asriel, and storyspin seems to do the same.

In the au it is basically storyspin's roles without the minor character changes (muffet and so sorry, etc), and since toby replaces flowey in storyspin, I wanted to maintain some "flowey" form to papyrus, just adapting to his character.
