I've always kinda wanted to know how your versions are similar/different from the ogs, story wise i mean! you already have wonderfully different visual designs! you've probably talked about some of their stories before I probably just missed it (´-﹏-`;)
I have talked about their backstories, there on this blog somewhere. I don’t know which version of the rogues to compare them to though. I’ll just give a brief summary.
Edward: hosts a game show for his crimes, very book smart (trivia), cringe fail, divorced
Jervis: looking for his childhood friend Alice, invented a dream machine at Wayne Tech, trapped in a wonderland dream while awake
Scarecrow: parents were both doctors, murdered his father after mother’s death, worked at Arkham as a psychologist, special connection to crows since childhood
Arnold: worked on a puppet tv show, detective scare face tried to solve a real murder on set, now they interfere with police investigations for blackmail and other gain
Babydoll: I think she’ll be the same as BTAS
Joker: professional clown that never laughed, the circus collapsed/burned which he found hilarious, unsure of where the joker toxin comes in
Poison Ivy: plant scientist, got her DNA altered after a lab accident, becomes a carnivore, has a vendetta against humans
Harley Quinn: therapist in Arkham, wanted a silly fun lifestyle, humdrum until she met Joker, they become best friends, joker toxin unsure??
Catwoman: lives on the streets, wanted to be a magical girl since childhood, steals from the rich and gives to the poor
Polkadot man: experimented on since childhood to gain superpowers, mother wanted him to be a hero, perpetually sick due to alien parasites (dots), currently quarantined in Amanda Waller’s facility
Bookworm: works at public library, funding cut and threaded to close, other options didn’t work so he resorted to crime for money, anger issues
Mad mod: British fashion designer, kept mod fashion alive, thinks he deserves to be queen of England, inspired by Teen Titans episode “revolution”
Calculator: college student, major in robotics and computer science, main character syndrome, loves mecha anime, making his own mech suit (the calculator)
Hugo Strange: works at Arkham in pharmacy, regularly mixes medicine and creates something new, random patients fall victim to testing them, original creator of fear toxin
Mr Freeze: scientist working in Artic lab, wife sick in Gotham hospital, neglect caused her to pass before he could find a cure

It's not really a birthday drawing, but this drawing is like a birthday present, you know. Furthermore, this drawing is dedicated to all autistic people in the world, as this drawing continues the series of autistic characters that I created. The first drawing in this themed series is a wonderful art that I won from my friend, Tururs, in a art raffle. So if you want to see this art, click here: https://www.tumblr.com/thunderbone/746660868952064000/english-happy-world-autism-awareness-day-this-is
Anyway, I decided to share with you a book that I've been planning to write for a while now. This book is a sequel to Alice in Wonderland, as well as being a "modern version" of the story. My story was inspired by Hook (1991) and Disney's live-action Alice in Wonderland.
This beautiful and wonderful drawing was made by Nicolai, also known as ahdortable on Instagram. In this drawing made by Nicolai, Alice was inspired by American McGee's Alice, while Jack was inspired by Tsaiko Tails, a grown-up version of Tails created by @tsaikonautz, also known as IndigoBeatss. Thank you very much for drawing Alice and Jack/Sunset Fox, the drawing was amazing 💖 If you want to see his drawings, click here: www.instagram.com/ahdortable/
The story revolves around Alice, a 20-year-old girl who lives with her older sister, Elizabeth, and her younger brother, Peter. Their parents died when Peter was 3 years old and Alice was 11 years old, so Elizabeth had to take care of her two brothers. Alice has Asperger's Syndrome, which is already a reason for Elizabeth to be super protective of her.
Because of her atypical mental and emotional condition, Alice is seen as childish and unreliable by her sister, who believes that she is not prepared to be independent and live her adult life because she does not understand anything about the outside world and its dangers, beyond the fact that she has great difficulty expressing her own emotions and recognizing or understanding the feelings and intentions of others.
Because of this, Alice tries to prove her worth to Elizabeth, believing that she can live without depending on her. Alice is very close to her younger brother, Peter, where he loves her very much and sees her as a mother figure, just like Elizabeth. One day, the 3 siblings were traveling on vacation, and headed to a nearby city. However, a deer appeared in the middle of the road, where Elizabeth tried to avoid it but the car ended up overturning.
After the accident, Alice ended up waking up inside a teapot, which, to her great surprise, had been shrunk by the Mad Hatter, who soon returned her to her normal size by giving her a cupcake. The Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Sunset Fox, the Dormouse, the twin siblings Tweedledum and Tweedledee and the Cheshire Cat are reunited with Alice, which leaves her confused at first.
They explain that when she was a child, she once visited Wonderland, where she befriended them. Furthermore, she helped them defeat the Queen of Hearts, as everyone was already tired of her tyranny and her cruel, dictatorial kingdom. Alice remembers a little of this, but she thought everything that happened was just a dream. However, after Alice left and never returned to Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts devised her plan to get her throne back and take revenge on Alice for ending her reign of several years.
It was the queen who made Alice return to Wonderland with her siblings, where she captured them. Alice's old friends barely saved her before the arrival of the Queen of Hearts' subordinates. To make matters worse, Alice's friends are fugitives from the law, as the Queen also wants to take revenge on them at any cost. Knowing that Wonderland and her siblings are in great danger, Alice, with the help of her friends and the White Rabbit (who works for the Queen of Hearts but is secretly on the protagonists' side and is their informant), went to try stop the Queen's evil plans.
During the adventure, Alice gradually remembered her adventures in Wonderland as a child and her friendships with the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the hare, the dormouse, the twins, the rabbit and the fox, the latter who soon becomes her best friend.
There are a few more details that I thought of for this idea, such as the fox. This character does not exist in the original Alice in Wonderland story, he was invented by me. His story is very sad, you know.
His name is Jack and he lived in a forest inhabited by anthropomorphic foxes. However, he has autism, which is a bit serious. I mean, he's not like people who have very severe autism, who are very aggressive, have difficulty speaking, learning, relating to people... He doesn't have this type of autism, which unfortunately is a stereotype , where people think autistic people are retarded.
Let's just say that he is very impulsive, allowing him to do things without thinking twice, in addition to being irritated very easily, and can be a little aggressive. Furthermore, every late afternoon and early evening, Jack became agitated and very anxious for no apparent reason, where he was unable to sleep several times, in addition to being extremely frustrated with his own confusion. Because of this and the fact that he was very different from other foxes (since he was autistic), he suffered a lot of prejudice, being called crazy by many, in addition to receiving the nickname Sunset Fox.
And the worst thing is that no one in Wonderland knows what autism and other types of mental disorders are, which only made the situation even worse. At one point, Jack is abandoned as a child by his parents, who did not accept him the way he is. That poor little fox lived alone for some time, in need. Until one day he was found by the Mad Hatter and his two best friends, the March Hare and the Dormouse. The Mad Hatter decided to adopt that fox, because he felt very sorry for him, saying he understood his pain.
However, the Mad Hatter didn't really understand what Jack was going through, because the Mad Hatter doesn't have autism and he thought Jack was crazy just like him, and having autism is very different from being crazy. In short, the Mad Hatter didn't know what it was like to suffer bullying and prejudice for being different, for being born with an atypical mental and emotional condition.
Despite this, the Mad Hatter went to help the boy. Jack then lived with his adoptive father and his uncle and aunt until then, drinking several cups of tea and living many surreal adventures. Jack loves the Mad Hatter very much and sees him as the father figure he always wanted, as he accepted him the way he is. Jack met Alice when he was 10, while she was 7. When Alice returned to Wonderland, Jack was very happy to see her again.
Throughout the story, Jack opened up to Alice about his atypical mental and emotional condition, and to his great surprise, she understands the prejudice he suffered for being different all these years, as she also has autism just like him. Yes, Jack finally met someone who is just like him and who knows what it's like to live with a mental illness that affects his life. But both will learn that it's okay being different, where both will have pride of their autism and will being positive about being different.
At that moment, Jack started to fall in love with Alice, but he didn't want to admit his feelings to her or anyone else, because he knows that his love for Alice would never work, since she is a human and he is an anthro animal. As the story progressed, I imagined Alice and Jack having a lot of chemistry, where she would also fall in love with him. In the final stretch of the story, he confesses his love for her, but they don't stay together.
Another thing I thought about is that while the other characters have special powers or abilities, Alice is the only one who doesn't have any of these. However, she uses things from Wonderland to her advantage, such as sweets (cakes and cookies) and non-alcoholic drinks (juices and soft drinks) that have the ability to make her look giant or small.
She's like Mario when he eats specific mushrooms to become giant or have super powers, as well as picking up things like that little cape that turns into a superhero cape so he can fly. Another thing I thought about is the possibility of implementing a stalker villain who will make the protagonists' lives hell until the end. He would be like Nemesis from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999), where he would be the biggest son of a bitch in history, second to the Queen of Hearts.
I imagined him being the Jabberwocky, a monster from a poem in the book Alice Through the Looking Glass (sequel of the original work, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, also written by Lewis Caroll). In my version of this monster, he would be a type of dragon, just like his counterpart from Disney's live-action Alice in Wonderland (2010). He would probably be a monster created by the Queen of Hearts, being programmed to eliminate all the protagonists, including Alice. That's why he chases them until the final stretch of my story and he's definitely going to make everyone angry at him, lol
Furthermore, I also imagined Alice being a rocker/metalhead girl, like me XD That explains why she was wearing a punk leather jacket lol Anyway, what do you think of my story? What should I improve?

A história dele é bem triste, sabe

📚 What are some books that have influenced your style? 🖇 What subjects or themes recur in your works?
How wonderful~ I just found a couple of the ones I didn’t remember the names of. Perfect timing~
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2ba7ee208e31540ff3defe52fb1547a0/ce2f1b50992bcc45-3e/s400x600/af96575c758069cd1ecd5a57c5726e1701620dd0.jpg)
Diadem series mixes magic and science fiction. My mom uh. Didn’t like it. so I would often crouch in the back of the library reading it as fast as possible and hope I could get two books done in the two-four hours we were at the library for various extracurricular. But magic mixing with science and alternate realities and world hopping and planet sized eggs that the creature inside would feed on nightmares and fears of any poor schmuck who landed on the shell.
Reincarnation as a body horror idea because what if you were born in the same reality as some great deceased warlock and you have a lot of similarities to them and oh come to find out you’re their reincarnation. They died and they made sure there was a reincarnation cycle so the past life ghost could forcibly take your body. And what if later after you think you defeated them one of them manages to come back and steal the body of your best friend who is also part of this cycle.
Read these along with animorphs. I can’t remember the reasoning but these were banned and animorphs weren’t. I can’t deny reading them in tandem together, one series solely in the library and one at home, massively shaped my sense of politics and storytelling lol. I don’t think it shaped my later Realizations but I do recall reading a lot of books where one of the themes was identity and the right to be yourself whatever that meant, without having to lie or compromise or let someone else’s ideas of you get in the way.
Also lowkey, I didn’t see these three as a love triangle and got mad when the writer tried to push it. In my head, they were all sharing one bed if you get me.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5c79dbd8b3993d92830005a841154a70/ce2f1b50992bcc45-e1/s250x250_c1/9a1a6d6ab007beaf7afecca68e5205528104e7e3.jpg)
Wizard’s Hall. Magic as an addictive force, magic as a painful but exhilarating force, magic as a patchwork monster…destinies, prophesies, magic schools. It came out before Harry Potter, I read it beside the fourth one if I remember correctly. In all honestly I remembered this one better than the fourth and had to reread the goblet of fire. Even then I’d have rather reread wizard’s hall. Can’t reccommend it enough, I haven’t picked it up since that year and I still remember whole passages.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c9d25b3dbd9e0155215b58be523d0081/ce2f1b50992bcc45-20/s640x960/bb420d35988b972f1ed27928ac968b5e45cd55f3.jpg)
I borrowed this book from a teacher’s personal library and I had to give it back. So I bought myself a copy. Carried this around reading and rereading. It has disability rep! That little girl holding her hand? She’s a savior of the world from…I think it was eldritch type fae sort of evil. And she can’t use one of her arms after a sickness rendered it withered. She can barely move it, barely use it. But she’s got other skills and her siblings to help her defeat the evils. It is. So so good. Not one of the first stories with a disabled person I ever read, but certainly one that lodged itself in my brain. It’s not a story where the girl is used as a moral. Or as a perfect person. She’s often moody and stubborn and has to be reasoned with. And her sheer stubbornness is part of how she wins. She was so moody and I loved that. She was allowed to be angry and surly and y’know. A kid. Not just a disabled child.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6f1341b6526e43de0937bab4f9ff1443/ce2f1b50992bcc45-23/s250x250_c1/d50d642080d2eeb97c0eaceead2fd9be0fe628ad.jpg)
It’s Alice in wonderland but in Paris and has ghosts and sentient reflections and riddles and alternate realities and I think you’d love it. I love it. Found it in a second hand bookstore and went “oh. That is how to write a story” and have been trying to emulate the writing style since. Utterly melancholic humor. Beautiful, and gut punching in the best way.
-
As for subjects and themes… disability and still being capable and strong, but also just allowed to have flaws. Being the oldest son with eldest daughter syndrome. Cleverness and some amount of secrecy is better than brute force. Life is not fair and will try to force you into a cookie cutter to make a shape you don’t want and you are allowed to kick the cookie cutter to a better shape that fits more. Or break the cookie cutter altogether. Monsters aren’t inherently bad, or good. Our actions are the only things that define us. Not anything else. Not even our family’s legacy. Living a life not for yourself but for people who take advantage of you is worse than death. Parents aren’t perfect.
There’s more, I’m sure. But I know these at least are in all my works in some shape or form lol.
Thank you for the ask~

Thoughts on Lewis Carroll?
Not sure—will have to revisit. I never quite understood what he was doing, except in some very broad literary-historical sense: exposing the myth of Victorian childhood and helping to create modernist adolescence, deconstructing realism to pave the way for the likes of Kafka and Borges in fiction itself and poststructuralist theories of language and representation, etc. I've also heard rumors there's something mathematical happening in those texts, which would really be unfortunate from my non-mathematical point of view. And the less said about those photographs, the better. I think I only read the first Alice book, to be honest, and as an undergraduate.
Of my usual go-to critics, I believe only Nancy Armstrong has treated his work at any length. I quote from "Sexuality in the Age of Racism: Hungry Alice" in Fiction in the Age of Photography: The Legacy of British Realism (1999), where Armstrong puts the matter in dystopic Foucauldian terms of the kind that make academics say things like "only middle-class white people exercise self-restraint" and think they're being anti-racist, but it's nonetheless a fascinating lens on the novel that puts it rather in something like the Great Tradition:
Childhood according to Carroll turns out to be the condition of lacking the very kind of power that subjects exercise over objects, the power to classify, to evaluate, to consume with discrimination. The acquisition of literacy is what empowers subjects to keep objects in their place. If Alice fails to distinguish herself from working-class and native women whenever she gives way to appetite, then she reestablishes that distinction in a more decisive way as she begins to crave this power more than she craves objects themselves. In bringing us to this conclusion, however, Alice’s misadventures bring us to the very heart of a contradiction. We must recall that objects in the story tend to come engraved with the invitation to consume them. “Eat me” or “drink me,” they say. Her compulsive response to a marmalade label indicates that writing in fact creates the appetite that Alice must control through reading and recitation. How, then, can appetite originate inside her body if it originates in writing? Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland defines the heroine’s development as the acquisition of a peculiar kind of literacy that embraces this self-contradiction. Put another way, Alice herself embodies the fantasmagorical spiral of desire and restraint that women would soon experience in relation to a world made of enticing objects. Alice’s tumble down the rabbit hole reveals an appetite for marmalade. Because she has the literacy of the ruling class, however, Alice has acquired an appetite for rules well before her adventures begin. And even though something that seems more like an aversion to books prompts her adventures in Wonderland, Alice’s story is ultimately a struggle to possess the kind of taste that comes with literacy.
I was never exposed to his work in childhood. It's strange, considering his enormous influence on those Dark Age British Invasion comics I read so avidly: Morrison's Arkham Asylum with its Mad Hatter exposing the whole story as a dream of Batman's, Miracleman with its "Red King Syndrome" doing something similar for that early work of Moore's. Then there was the kid-lit pornotopia of Moore's Lost Girls, which I dislike, but that came later. I conclude with a disturbing page, perhaps the most disturbing page, from Morrison and McKean's Arkham. Unlike Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, I first read this at the age of seven:

April Reading Review
April was a big month for me. After not reading for a long time, this month I've fallen back in love with it. So I've decided to log all the books I read from now on. To track and remember what I've read throughout the year. Sorry if I shit on your favorite book.
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
The only book I DNF'd. I've tried to read this series 3 times since it came out and I just cant. I quit about half way through everytime. It's just extremely slow and I cant seem to get invested. The characters are bland and dont intrest me at all. Just didn't care for it in the slightest.
Need by Carrie Jones
Oh, was this a trip. And not a good one. Being completely honest I dont remember any of the characters names and I dont care enough about this title to look them up. I will refer to them by their stereotypes that were so fuckinh prevalent in this novel. 🙃 So the story is about this girl, your typical "look how quirky and plain I am" ya heroine for these B list supernatural romances, is sent to this little town in I want to say North Carolina, but dont quote me there. She moves in with her Grandma, who is 100% the best character in the book, after he dad mysterious drops dead on the kitchen floor. So, right off the bat we end up in the first day of school trope. Main character is in the office and here we meet a boy and a girl WHO ARE CLEARLY THE ANTAGONISTS OF BOOK. This may just be a me problem but I absolutely hate when I can unravel the entire book in the first few chapters. It feels like the author was lazy and didnt put enough effort into concealing the intent and weaving a mystery. I digress, the two main villains and the main love interest are all introduced within the first 3 chapters and like, it's made clear who these characters are meant to be. It honestly felt like the writer looked at a list of stereotype tropes and started checking them off. So yeah, weird shit starts happening and the main character is convinced someone in trying to kill her. Oh, theres also this overarching theme of high school boys wandering into the woods and disappearing. Conclusion: FAIRIES! Or pixies rather which arent really pixies but have the name forcefully sewn onto them in this novel. And shapeshifters are the towns only hope! Just ugh. I don't want to talk about this book anymore. It was awful and I wont be continuing the trilogy. I rated it 2 stars out of 5 right after I read it but I almost dont feel it deserves that now. Looking back on it, Need was just a dumpster fire.
The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
This book was fantastic. No if, ands, or buts about it. It was one of the best books I've read this month. I'm usually not a big fan of horror retellings or historical fiction so I went in expecting to hate it and that absolutely wasnt the case. The book follows the story of Elizabeth Lavenza, the future wife of Victor Frankenstein, and her adventures prior to her marriage. I dont want to spoil too much because I think anyone who is a fan of suspense will love this novel. The side characters are usually my biggest critique in YA but the author worked magic with them. Justine and Mary were both angels and I loved them so much. It was just an all around good read that had me captivated from start to finish. 4.5/5 stars. Deducted a half point because I'm salty about the fate of my favorite character. Is that petty?
Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Again, another title I kind of expected to have issues with but didnt. The book definitely suffers from a lot of YA tropes but they are presented in a more interesting way than in Need. The story follows a budding witch named Sophia who is being sent to a magical reform school called Hecate Hall. But it's not your typical "I got sent to boarding school" story. The year before a witch had died under mysterious circumstances, her body completely drained of blood. Everyone thought it was Sophie's vampire roommate Jenna who did it but there was never enough evidence. And now its happening again. The story is great and while the cast suffered a bit from trope syndrome, the twists in the plot really made up for it. I would definitely give the trilogy a read if supernatural school settings are your thing. 4/5 stars.
Demonglass by Rachel Hawkins
The sequel to Hex Hall. The continuation was really good and had an ending I absolutely didnt see coming. Actually liked this entry better than the first in the series. I plan to continue the trilogy as well as the spin off novels. 4.5/5 Deducted half a point for the infuriatingly ambiguous ending cliffhanger.
Sweep by Cate Tiernan
This book was meh at best. It was a tiny book about a girl who becomes a witch. She gets super into wicca and because of a pagan boy at school. It wasnt great but it was semi accurate to the religion. I dont honestly even remember much about the book. It went in one ear and out theother. Solid 3/5.
Splintered by A.G. Howard
This. Book. Is. Wonderful. It's a retelling sort of thing of Alice in Wonderland. It follows a girl named Alyssa, who is the descendant of Alice Liddel, as she tries to break her family's curse of madness. It infects only the women of the line and will eventually drive them insane, as it has Alyssa's mom. The one blight on an otherwise perfect book is Jebidiah, Alyssa's crush. He is a trash character and I hate him. I have so many problems with him that it would take far to long to list. My biggest one is that he is mildly abusive and extremely controlling. Just in the first part of the story he intentionally ruins Alyssa's education opportunity to study abroad purely for selfish reasons, forces his way into her home when he was asked to leave, goes through her belongings after being told not to, gives off major stalker vibes, and consistently treats her like his property. His presence was such a fucking stain on an otherwise lovely romp. Honestly, Morpheus and the twisted world building were what saved the book for me. Howard did such a brilliant job weaving together a demented version of an already dark land. 4.5/5. Gotta take a half point for the oozing, cancerous sore that is Jebidiah Holt.

About Emma being Owen, i think its right, also he was the person what grow up to torture Regina together with Tamara, in the process of the magic is unholy(this is what happened to Emma), its about abuse and religious things, i think when Regina is Evil, like being bad, she doesnt represents herself but the Emma's ID, so the ID killed the father, the inversion thing, the father was the bad one, and the ID killed him to save the child, what can be Henry or the pure part of the mind. Maybe both?
I agree, I do think that the conversion therapy is what happened to Emma. I’m on the fence on whether it actually happened to Regina as well.
Part of me thinks that both Greg and Tamara are actually Emma. They represent different parts of her or her story . The only part to Tamara’s story line we really got is that she had a grandmother she’d loved. I think that connects to Ruby and Granny which I think is another part of Emma’s story. I think aside from a father she knew and loved she probably also had a grandmother at one point. And possibly a mother given Ruby’s story with her mother.
I also think it’s possible that Emma somehow forgot a large chunk of her past due to some kind of trauma (i.e. car accident and subsequent amnesia or the actual loss of her parents like Dory) and that the story of her being left at the side of the road as a baby might not be true. It’s possible Emma actually only lost her parents at age 10, not as a baby. And that she had loving parents up to that point. I also think it’s possible that Regina might be the only person alive who still knows Emma’s true story aside from it being somewhere in Emma’s mind. Which might also be part of what Regina being the song in Emma’s heart means. She may be the only person who can unlock Emma’s past and help her remember that she at one point as a child had people that loved her very much. (Of course, I think one of those people was and still is Regina herself.)
Part of me also thinks that Emma at some point ended up with a church or a religious cult of some sort which I think is where Rumple, Blue and Tinkerbell come in. Blue, who in Storybrooke is Mother Superior, a nun, along with Tink. And that is probably where the conversion therapy happened. I think Rumple may have been a priest, a corrupt one, with the same cult/church. His Dark One Vault carries a symbol that reminds of the Catholic Church. There’s also other stuff, like the fact that Blue supposedly condemns all evil, but did always help Dark One Rumple. I also think that Rumple and Regina’s story, the fact that he mentored her and the underlying themes of that relationship don’t bode well for her story with him either. And I think that Emma and Regina may also be connected through Rumple somehow.
As for the Evil Queen/ID thing, Shady has said that as well. The thing is that psychodynamic psychology which is where I think that falls isn’t my strong suit. So I know of it and I agree that maybe Emma projected part of herself onto Regina, and with the whole Snow being Emma’s Superego thing but other than that I don’t really have a psychological opinion on that.
I do agree that Emma most likely killed someone.
I go back and forth between it being her birth father and her foster father. Did she know her birth father? Was he a good person or was he the one who hurt her? Or was it a mentor? Not so much a father, but a father figure?
I go back and forth. Sometimes I think Emma had a loving birth or adoptive father who never hurt her but that she somehow lost. Owen’s father who might also be Henry Sr.
And then looking at Regina’s story with Rumple I think Rumple is the “bad father”. (Priests are coincidentally also actually called “Father”). And that he definitely hurt Regina. And it’s not much of a stretch to think he could have history with Emma too, where he hurt her.
What drives this home for me is that I’ve connected Rumple to Jefferson, the Mad Hatter.
And an important aspect of Jefferson’s story line is him kidnapping Emma and Snow, tricking Emma into thinking he has a limp so she’ll put herself in a vulnerable position meaning to help him. Rumple is the only character on the show with a limp, one that is also capable of disappearing. I also think Snow is young Regina. So I think Rumple hurt both of them. This story also connects Belle’s story and the whole Wonderland bit, since Emma drinks Jefferson’s tea and when she does, it puts her to sleep. And just before she falls asleep she drops the teacup, which could have led to the chip in the cup. The constant reminder that what Belle and Rumple ended up building wasn’t real. Just a girl believing she’s in love with her captor and both forgetting that she didn’t want to be there in the first place (Stockholm Syndrome). So that would make Emma Belle. Or Belle Emma. In the season 4 AU when Belle drops the cup and it chips it’s a reminder to Rumple that what he has with Belle there isn’t real and can’t be made real. That he isn’t a hero and never was even though Belle believes him to be one. They also have a baby in that reality.
And it makes me wonder if Henry isn’t possibly Rumple’s/Gold’s biological son. Also because they had Neal, Henry’s supposed father, and Gold merge at one point where they couldn’t tell who was whom. So maybe they’re one and the same and that is the reason Gold seems to be the only character on the show without a first name. Because his first name is actually Neal.
It would also explain Snow’s second child being named after Neal. A nod to his parentage. Since if Snow is Regina and Regina adopted Henry, well then Henry would be Neal Jr.
It also fits with Robin Jr. being named after her father, Robin. And the fact that a lack of real consent was also a part of her conception. It even fits with Emma and Regina promising Zelena to raise Robin alongside Henry together were anything ever to happen to her. Possibly paralleling Robin Jr. with Henry (Neal Jr.) in every way.
Then there’s the fact that Neal is dead and Rumple has also died. And the only reason Rumple is alive now is because Neal took his place in death. And the first time Rumple almost died it was through poison at the hands of Hook, one of the many parent killers on this show and possibly another representation of Emma and Regina.
Of course, I could be wrong about all of this.

Some things I've read, seen, and heard in the past few months
Don't pay too much attention to the letter grades, they're super subjective. Oh, and don't pay too much attention to the descriptions...also subjective. You know what, you should probably just skip this post and watch Planet Earth II instead. It's objectively great.
The Handmaiden. Khoi Vinh turned me onto this. Loved it. (A)
What Happened, Miss Simone? Nina Simone is underrated. There are some spine-tingling live musical moments in this film. (B+)
The Three-Body Problem. Recommended by Barry. The first book is great, the next two are good but pretty depressing. (B+)
Moonlight. While this didn't grab me as much as it did everyone else, the Academy got it right. (A-)
The Night Manager. I can see what Taylor Swift saw in Tom Hiddleston. (B+)
T2 Trainspotting. If you saw and loved the original, you should see this. It is somehow nostalgic and also not. (B)
Girls. The struggles of 20-something New Yorkers and the crises of 40-something males may not be the same, but they sure do rhyme. (B+)
Beauty and the Beast. Better than I expected, even for a musical about the Stockholm syndrome. (I mean, why didn't the Beast let Belle go like waaaay sooner?) I never saw the original when I was a kid but somehow knew all the songs anyway? I even got a little teary at the end but perhaps that's just because my emotional life is a puddly mess rn. (B)
Hidden Figures. Really liked this. (A-)
Turing's Cathedral. Raging Bull. Manchester by the Sea. I am increasingly bored by stories about white dudes. Look at the rest of this list. The best stuff, the things I liked the most, are stories about or stories told by women or people of color or non-Americans. (C)
Homo Deus. Still haven't finished this, but I'm persisting because Sapiens was so good. Hard to escape the conclusion that the sequel is not quite so good. (B-)
Planet Earth II. This is the best thing I've seen in the last year. Just fucking watch it already. (A+)
More Life. Liking this more than Views. Drake's non-albums are better than his albums. (B+)
Mad Men. My second time through. Better than I remember and I remember it being great. (A+)
The Crown. Expected Downton (soapy but fun) but was rewarded with great acting and writing. Claire Foy as Elizabeth and John Lithgow as Churchill were *kisses fingers*. (A)
"Awaken My Love". I'm sorry, I just couldn't figure this one out. (C-)
Wonderland. Steven Johnson's best book yet. (A)
The Underground Railroad. Nothing to say about this that already hasn't been said. (A)
Logan. Producers are realizing they've stocked their superhero movies with great actors so maybe they should give them material worthy of their talents. (B+)
Finding Dory. It's a movie about disability. (A-)
Abstract. Pretty good, but I agree with Rob Walker's take. Niemann is closest to the way I work/think but I liked Bjarke's episode the best...even though I've got some, er, issues with the guy. (B)
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The script, not the play. I have now read all 8 of the Harry Potter books with my kids...it took more than 4 years. Very sad it's over...it ended up being one of the most rewarding things I've done with them. (B+)
