Characters: Inari & Dessie & Witchie, Inari & Komari
Rating: General Audiences
Tags: Coming Out, Trans Love and Acceptance, Fluff and (light) Angst, Mentions of Dysphoria, Misgendering and Deadnaming (for the first half; not meanspirited), Using Your Magic Abilities To Help Local Teen Realize They're Transgender
Word Count: 6k
Description:
Inari’s ears drooped. They gnawed on the sleeve of their robes. “The human also asked me for knowledge—they want to understand why they feel the way they do. I cannot even begin to fathom an answer…”
“Oh! Oh! I’ve got it, I’ve figured it out!” Dessie clapped her hands together. “The human is trains gender!”
Witchie blinked. Inari’s ears twitched.
“They’re what now.”
“You know.” Dessie made a vague hand motion. “Trains gender. It’s when a human is born a boy or a girl but they’re not that they’re something else. Although that being said, I’m not sure how the train part comes in. Maybe they need to take a train to figure it out…?”
“Err,” Inari mumbled. “The nearest train station is so far outside Tsuyukusa and way past my domain, I do not think I could influence the human to go that far…”
Witchie pursed her lips. “You dolt, don’t you mean transgender?”
(A young Komari comes to Inari asking for answers, and Inari takes it upon themself to help her discover her truth—possibly to their own detriment.)
For @draconic-distress as part of the summer @bokumonoexchange !!!

[ID: A screenshot of Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns, during an event. The models of the Player Character, Brad, Wayne, and Hector are sitting at a table together at the town restaurant in the center, while the portrait sprites of Wayne and Hector are overtop of them.
Hector, the previous speaker, has a face of resigned dismay. Wayne, smiling and winking, says cheerfully, “Today’s also the day that I file a complaint with the god who was cruel enough to let this happen.” End ID]
This is my favorite event in the whole game, not gonna lie. The snark levels are off the charts, start to finish.

In that case, one thing I really wanted to say is that I love your Pterano and Dessie AU! Dessie is a really cute critter...I’ve wondered how she and Petrie might get along. Maybe there'd be jealousy or envy on either side first, considering the complicated situation with Pterano?
Thank you I love them so dearly.
The story I've been working on takes place after the VII movie, during Pteranos exile from the Great Valley. So I don't think there'd be any or much jealousy from Petrie there. If anything, once the situation is realized, it's like oh a new cousin. They get along well enough (even if Petrie thinks Dessie can be a little much at times, she's very loud and full of so much more energy for such a tiny flyer).
It takes a while to even realize the situation. Dessie and for a while Pterano live in a valley a ways away from the Great Valley, through the Mysterious Beyond, inhabited by an eclectic herd. They tend to wander here and there during the rainy seasons, as the valley floods in these times (they have given it the name Skywater Valley as a result).
As farwalkers their wandering takes them into the Great Valley. Naturally Pterano isn't allowed to enter so he explains the situation to the old leader of the herd (a very large flyer, a quetzalcoatlus aplyt named Atlus), who in turn finds Mama Flyer (who I call Donna). He in turn explains the situation to her and Dessie stays with them until the herd moves on once more.
Donna might explain the situation to her kiddos or she might just tell them something close to the truth leaving Pterano out entirely. It hardly matters because by the end of their time in the Great Valley, our normal crew plus Dessie end up on an adventure that ends up revealing the truth. Pterano is still meant to serve his sentence of course (and Topsy is none to pleased he was even as close to the Valley as he was, and has choice words for Atlus).
Dessies offered the choice to stay in the Great Valley for now but she wants to stay with the farwalker herd for now. She's very happy though. First she didn't have a Mama. Now she has a Papa, an Auntie, and so many cousins! No jealousy, only love for her new family.
(Important information I failed to explain at all, Dessie has been a part of the Farwalker herd for a while. No family she just sort of does her own thing. Some of the adults keep an eye on her but she's very self reliant. Other adults see her as a troublemaker since their kids use her as a scapegoat. While wandering the Beyond, Pterano stumbles upon the herd and Dessie sort of adopts him. Character growth and found family ensue).
#im always happy to talk about dessie and lbt i love them so dearly#with hoe readily petrie adopts guido into their family i think hes be just fine with dessie

story of seasons ; trio of towns character model file guide
(also a crosspost of an old cohost post)
because im Sillay. here's a character guide for both models and portraits for story of seasons: trio of towns.
i wont go into editing them bc i have yet to do that myself (keyword yet). however a preliminary look at a few models has them mostly in the 800-1000 polys range, with separate materials for face/hands, body/clothes, eyes, and hair
models for npcs are located in chara/model/avatarbody , and start with ch_ after all the player & marriage candidate stuff. marriage candidates will be their own post since this one is already long enough

Story of Seasons: Trio Of Towns Review
So if it's not obvious by now, I should probably just say it, but aside from maybe Harvest Moon Lost Valley, which needs a redo as far as I'm concerned, there are no bad Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons games. Are some better than others? Absolutely, but they're all playable, fun, and engaging if you're into this style of game.
This time, the game follows your character as you convince your father to let you become a farmer. You used to go to a nearby farm a lot. He refuses, saying it's harder that you think it is, but eventually gives in, and sends you to your uncle, who will teach you how your farm works. As you play, you'll eventually open the other two of the three towns, each of which have 2-3 marriage candidates. They all have their own crops and flowers you can purchase seeds for your farm (before you get the seed maker) and you usually have enough space for a coop and barn in each area (there are 4, but I usually only get 3 open) and still have space for farming and other things that you'll need. Oh, and up to 4 pet houses. I try to have 2 herding pets and the other two be gatherers of some kind, in each area.
Other awesome benefits are that you will eventually get access to all the different hairstyles, all the different outfits. So if you want to play as a guy who marries a guy...well, you can't. They hadn't implimented the system to marry the same gender as you are playing yet. But with the ability to choose from various different outfits and hairstyles, you can make your female character look more masculine to try to get the feeling of playing as a guy marrying a guy. Same for the girl characters. Playing as a guy, you aren't restricted to the gender specific stuff.
Another thing I like about this game is it furthers the lore of both Story of Seasons and Harvest Moon. Why? Well, have you ever wondered why there's a Harvest Goddess and Witch Princess in almost every game? I mean, don't get me wrong, they aren't literally in every game. But why is there a Witch Princess in Island of Happiness/Sunshine Islands, and why does she look so different from the Witch Princess in Animal Parade, or even DS/DS Cute? The same goes for Harvest Goddess. Why does she ususally look different in the various different games. Sometimes she has wings, other times she doesn't. Sometimes her eyes are purple, sometimes blue. Sometimes her hairstyle is different. I assumed they were all just the same character. After all, across the board, Witch Princess has always hated frogs, and that's pretty consistent no matter how she looks at the time. How about Skytree Village or Beacon of Hope, in which there are two Wizards? Well, this is actually explained. Well, the Wizard thing is explained by the original Wizard, when he mentions he had a mentor and that his study of magic extended his life. So it's something that can be taught, at least to a point. As for Witch and Harvest Goddess? Well, Dessie being a Harvest Goddess in training tells us there are more than one, and this is further confirmed in this game. When Inari awakens, it's explained that the fox god family, Harvest Goddess family and Witch family decided to just let Inari sleep to teach him a lesson. So we have confirmation there's more than one Harvest Goddess, Witch/Witch Princess, and even fox god. Each land has their own, which each has their own rules and relationships. Just so cool.
Sorry about the tangent, I just thought it was cool. Anyway, moving on. You can participate in competitions. And complete quests from your dad, including winning certain competitions at certain levels. This is when you meet the mysterious Mr. D who is...not your dad, I guess. Beat him, and you beat a requirement of your dad. Anytime you complete all the requests send by dad in certain quests, you'll open other areas of your farm. You can upgrade your tools and house. You'll need the wool you can get from your alpacas, sheep, etc, as well as grown fiber and cotton to get the clothes you can change into. You cannot just change your hair whenever, you have to wait for the stylist in Tsuyukusa to open up. Oh, and you will get town specific quests as you level them up to make them better. Things like fixing or finishing items by providing money or items, or people asking for ingredients to make new dishes, that kind of thing. Upgrading the towns gives you new recipies, outfits, and I believe new seeds as well.
This game is fun, and there is a lot to explore. I give it a solid 4/5.

stylizing 3ot characters part 2, ITTY BITTIES
i don’t CARE if witchie and dessie are hundreds of years old that is a 10 year old and an 8 year old
notes: tatsumi’s vitiligo is from ittetsu’s side, tigre’s birthmark was passed to him from his mother from haulani. also i fucking hate alma’s weird crushes on adults so for my continuity (realest one) someone corrected her and now she’s just got either no crush or one on tigre

🍃 Harvest Moon 30 Day Challenge 🍂
Day 26: Who do you like better? Witch Princess or the Harvest Goddess?
I'm going to be really cheeky, and answer: Dessie.
WP's requirements for romancing her in DS really put me off her - I'm someone who can't be mean to fictional characters. I feel incredibly uncomfortable abusing my Sims, for example. So deliberately neglecting my animals and being mean to the townsfolk goes against every bone in my body. I know none of it's real, I just feel awful even thinking about it.
HG generally comes across as a bit obnoxious and self-obsessed to me. Fair enough, she's an omnipotent deity, but I still find her rather annoying most of the time.
Dessie, on the other hand, is a sweet, pure cinnamon roll. Even though she messes up from time to time, she's so adorable and apologetic it's impossible to get mad at her. And the way she looks at everything with the wide-eyed wonder of youth is just so wholesome and endearing.
