OK, so I’m over 300 pages into American Gods, and, as concerned as I am about the backlash, I must say.... I’m just not that into it. I know, what travesty!!! I already had it on my shelf when I learned about the upcoming tv show and I sprung into action. And in the beginning I was addicted. I couldn’t put it down. The mystery, the eeriness, the creepy factor, it was all there. And in certain sections of dialogue with Wednesday, I’m feeling it. But other than that, it’s a book about a newly released prison inmate who goes on a road trip, talks with animals and tv sets and dead people, and has intensely weird dreams. That’s about all I’ve gotten so far and I’m kinda ready to throw in the towel.
What are your thoughts? Should I keep going? I’m no quitter, but I also believe in reading books that are of a genuine interest. What say you?
