Alright, I once again, generally don't make posts like this but i'm going to go ahead and say it.
If you are only talking about or caring about the trans community when talking about how horrible JK and the new video game is; and you are ignoring/glossing over the jewish community, when the entire point of the game is genociding a race of jewish caricatures because they did blood libel, i fucking see you.
You are not our friend, and you are not our ally. Yes, the trans community needs help and deserves to be angry, and yes, rowling is also a TERF. But jewish people told you she was stinky well before rowling was outed, and to see us being written out of the narrative that is quite literally about us is incredibly shitty and gross.
I implore everyone on both sides to look up common jewish stereotypes and caricatures, and statements used against them.
When you write your posts discussing how bad she is, or why you shouldn't support the game, or decry a streamer for playing the game, don't JUST make it a trans issue. Make it BOTH a trans and a jewish issue. We are both being hurt by this, so don't fucking erase us. I'm getting really annoyed seeing all these posts online and games media only discuss that she's a terf and using that as the only reason to not play, when there are other very good reasons to never touch it!
The only people i see mentioning that this is also harmful to jewish people, are other jewish people. And i see that. I recognize that. I will remember it. Y'all say that if you had lived in X time period you would have done Y, or you're such a great ally to marginalized groups, but when push comes to shove, you pick one group who is hurting over the other. You choose to help and be angry for the group that gets you the most ally points and internet clout.
I'm not asking for much. All i want is that in discussions about JK, and the shitty wizard video game; you include jewish people in the discussion and in the list of people being hurt by this game. It's not fucking hard.

Happy holidays, here’s a Severus Snape. Been reading a lot lately, so sorry for the inactivity. I really should start posting outside of my art.
In 2025, alongside my fanart i will (hopefully) start posting my original work. <333
If I don’t post again till January, I wish you well

Call me dumb, naive, whatever. But I pray there is some way to fix this. To just not lose it all. Two months is a long time, so maybe something can be done. Until then, I’ll pray and share what I can
Links to Petitions To Keep Our Accounts
Will add more when available

It’s probs all in vain, but I rather try than give up. This game helped me so much when I was in such a dark hole. To start all over, to lose so much, I just can’t man. It’s not even about the money
Please spread, share, scream, post, just try. At least try. Trying at least can make you vent out your frustrations, so hey.
Please reblog, sign, keep being loud
Maybe someone will hear

Harry, Albus and King's Cross
I've seen a lot of fanfics over the years that (when sending Harry temporarily to the afterlife) treat Dumbledore's appearance at King's Cross as an error, or something that The Fandom As A Whole Thinks Is Bad. Not only is the latter a false idea (hi, meet me. I'm still in the fandom for some godforsaken reason lol), but it also kind of rubs me the wrong way to see fanfic-AU!Harry meet instead with Lily (whom he doesn't know and whose accurate shade he probably wouldn't be able to summon to the in-between), Sirius (who is the best alternate contender but isn't the loss weighing most heavily on Harry in DH), Remus (...lol. nah), Death itself (personifying a metaphysical concept to give it more gravity or screentime is a departure from the themes of the series, fight me) or someone/something else.
It was always going to be Albus who met Harry. Not because he's a hallucination. Not because he's the personification of Death or whatever. (Those two ideas are debatable and could be argued, but they're not the point. That's not why.) The why is because Albus Dumbledore is who Harry had come to rely on the most over the entire series. Before Sirius. In spite of Remus. Before his Head of House. Over the flaky government. Albus was Harry's mentor and one of Harry's many flawed father-figures; he was the most enduring person present in Harry's adolescence; and he was the person whose guidance Harry sought almost constantly over the entire final book when he couldn't get it anymore.
A good portion of Harry's character is about the losses he experienced before he was ever aware of them, and about the losses he experiences once he is aware of who he is and what he must do. Albus' loss slots neatly into the latter category and gives us a front-row seat to how Harry grapples with losing someone so important to him.
(Emphasis on "front-row seat" because for some reason, That Woman decided to have Harry insta-heal from losing Sirius in HBP with only the briefest single-sentence reference to off-screen grieving for a few weeks. Like. I realize he only knew Sirius for 2.5 years, but Harry loved him, JKR. What the fuck?)
But yeah. Tangents aside, it was always going to be Albus who met Harry in the fake King's Cross. Sirius died in an inexplicable way which had to be explained both to the readers and to Harry (recall Harry saying "He's only just gone through!" because he thinks the Veil is a curtain, and Remus having to be the one who says "There's nothing you can do, Harry... nothing... he's gone." And although I wasn't active in the fandom then, others can co-sign that there were LOTS of "Sirius Lived/Sirius Will Come Back!" conspiracy theories IRL following the release of book 5). By contrast, Harry watched Albus die. He knew what happened and how irrevocable it was from the moment it occurred.
Most of Harry's conflict and disillusionment with Albus in the final book is the equivalent of a pressure cooker, building until the "explosion" of numb betrayal that happens in The Prince's Tale and is then promptly reversed in King's Cross. Throughout Deathly Hallows, it is Dumbledore's absence which frustrates Harry, confuses him, unmoors him. Dumbledore's final return to Harry in chapter 35 is the circle closed; the wound cauterized. Explanations are finally had; information is finally available to Harry, who thrives on being informed so he can make the decisions which most align with his character. Once he has this information (information he could only have had confirmed from someone actually crossing from the land of Death to meet with him), once he understands that Dumbledore wanted him to live but made the painful choice to lead him to Death in the name of destroying Voldemort, Harry makes the choice to forgive Dumbledore for his part in the pain and misunderstandings that have plagued his life.
In order to have someone else meet Harry at the crossroads between living and dying, you have to basically rewrite not only the end of Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows, but also a significant portion of every other book. If it's an AU, have at—I might even give it a read. For meta discussions though? I say a third time: Albus was always going to be the one waiting for Harry at King's Cross.

I am still waiting for my letter from Hogwarts.
I still want a sorting hat to take the hard choice from me and tell me “it’s okay, you’re safe here.” I’m still waiting for a howler to come out of nowhere and defend me when I’m afraid to speak up for myself. Because I have so many good reasons to be afraid.
But my letter isn’t coming. The letter came out the magical printer and Rowling saw it and puked. She saw a monster and tore up my letter.
And she forgets: I was a scared little girl in the back of a library reading Harry Potter. I thought I saw my mother. I thought: finally! someone gets it! Someone gets that it’s okay to be a monster! Those are those fantastic beasts, right?
So please, do it for me. Depose J.K. Rowling and write me a book that invites me to finally be myself.

JK Rowling is now sharing blatantly anti LGBTQ+ articles. JKR is a run of the mill homophobe. Find a new book to read
Tumblr media
This article btw?
Says that this is BAD:
“Ad hominem and ad feminam attacks on professionals who believe homosexuality/transgenderism is an illness or who use pathologising language to make sense of homosexuality/transgenderism.
It's BAD that we push back on "professionals" who say homosexuality is an illness
It's also bad to not try and change your sexuality/gender:
“Underscoring the difficult, if not impossible task of changing a sexual orientation/gender identity, even through psychotherapeutic means;
JKR is a homophobe

this might be a hot take... but if you care about disavowing media made by bad people out of fear of looking like a bad person yourself more than you care about actually doing good things... you might have your priorities (and your morals) screwed up a bit :/
(see my tags for more of my thoughts on this topic! please try to avoid making make bad-faith assumptions about what i mean!)
#melonposting#there is a good case for not wanting to associate with something on account of the creator being harmful. sure whatever#but people have talked at length about the sort of moral ocd that it promotes when that idea is fervently preached and enforced#i don't know about you but i think there's a big difference between#a) not wanting people to associate with something because the media itself spouts harmful rhetoric#and because its bigoted creator both benefits from people engaging with the books and is idolized by many of the books' fans#and b) not wanting people to vocally enjoy ANYTHING made by ANYONE who's held any harmful ideology at any point#because doing so 'inherently' supports and spreads those harmful ideologies#it's true that you cannot separate the art from the artist#but good people can make bad art and bad people can make good art. artistic talent is not inherently correlated with the artist's morals#the goodness/badness of a person CAN seep into the art they make. and it often does. and that can affect one's enjoyment of it#but even then there's nuance to be had on how to deal with it#like my hero academia for example. when i started watching it in middle school i didn't know how misogynistic it would be#of course i ended up seeing it in the show (and god it's so misogynistic)#and i ended up learning that the 'joke' sexual-harasser character is a self-insert for the creator#which of course i could never get behind. the creator is undeniably a horrible guy#at the same time though the show means a lot to me and i've gained a lot from watching it#i won't elaborate here on how but believe me it isn't superficial. if you want to ask me about it i'd be happy to share#i can hold both in my mind. the disgust and the enjoyment. i don't think those have to be mutually exclusive#of course not everyone is like that; you could immediately stop liking the show on discovering the gross stuff. and that's your prerogative#i don't know... i agree with the values behind avoiding media made by people known to have moral failings#and in some cases (like harry potter and jkr) i fully endorse the values and the practice. but such cases are very specific#but in most cases i fear the practice is misguided and unnuanced and ultimately unhelpful in fulfilling one's values#it is largely a philosophical matter: about how an individual regards their moral standing in the context of themselves and other people#which is important to discuss - especially in our globalized internet age! speaking of which feel free to disagree with me#if you want to have a civil discussion i'm more than open to it#but no matter how important this matter... there are way more important ones in the world. especially right now#calling out people who watch a youtuber who said something bigoted 5 years ago does little to stop that bigotry overall#just have good morals and practice them! support oppressed people! be thoughtful and understanding and compassionate!#callouts and dni lists rarely make for impactful advocacy!!!

still confuses me how people's love for a series doesn't die the second they learn the creator is a piece of shit irl. like, does that not completely change the context of the message? you just keep supporting it & aren't haunted by the horrible causes you are throwing money at? skill issue imo

HP AU ficlet - 4th year
Malfoy sneered as Harry walked towards him, but Harry’s steps never faltered.
“How much?” Ha asked, drawing near.
Malfoy’s sneer was momentarily replaced with confusion.
“How much for what?”
“One of those pins you’re selling,” Harry responded, pointing at the large pin on Malfoy’s robes that switched before his eyes to say “Potter stinks.”
Malfoy’s eyes seemed to squint as he performed what Harry could only call an assessment of his person.
“You’re joking,” Malfoy said despite not sounding fully convinced.
“No, I want one. Cedric’s the real Hogwarts champion, and I never wanted in this stupid tournament to begin with, hence the button.”
Malfoy’s eyes only seemed to shrink more as his brow lowered down his face in the most suspicious look he’d ever seen from the boy.
When Malfoy names a price that he’s pretty sure counts as extortion though, Harry proudly wears his pin around for all to see.
