SBS (Stacked Between Stones, it/its) - debateably not even an iterator anymore. it definitely used to be one, but it lost its memories in a botched transfer into a mobile puppet and now believes itself to be a purposed organism of some kind. it avoids thinking about where it came from. instead, it takes pleasure from exploring the world and honing its own survival abilities. it experiences the cycle, but is unaware of it, not remembering past deaths as something with a mark of communication would. it's incredibly prideful of its own competence, and initially offers help to RP out of curiosity; to see if it could keep her alive.

RP (Relentless Percussion, she/her) - her creators were convinced that the failure of the wider iterator populace to create a Solution was due to some instance of flawed reasoning that had tainted their data via the sharing of research. therefore, they reasoned, an iterator completely isolated from their peers would be able to find a Solution, as their data would be free from this theoretical error. hence, RP was built without access to her communication arrays. they were still built, as her creators wished to communicate with one another, but an advanced program was created to prevent her from accessing it. she spent the thousands of cycles between the global ascension and the beginning of the story working on breaking through that program. however, she was too scared to say anything once she had access, since she had never conversed with her peers before. she instead used her access to hack into private broadcasts and spy on iterators, with the aim of gaining an understanding of how to act. she is the person who initiates the story, as through her spying she discovers a plot to kill another iterator (SOP, he/him, ive posted about him under the name 13 Vases Upon Vines). since he has all non-local broadcasts blocked, she decides to mobilise herself and make the journey to him herself, meeting SBS and WP in the process

WP (Worn Paths, they/them) - the most recently mobilised of the group, they're on a journey to visit the structure of their closest friend, who suddenly stopped responding to communications one day, in attempt to find answers or, failing that, closure. they're unaware that SBS was this friend, and SBS is likewise unaware that it once knew WP. their puppet was poorly designed, suited for quick bursts of speed across the flat plains surrounding their can, but not for the long treks through rough terrain that end up necessary. they often have to be carried by RP, whose puppet is better suited to the circumstances.

IPC and related characters

With the release of Jade's kit, something clicked in my mind.

I believe the devs did their jobs on choosing the path and the kit for their characters (the elements are more random on most characters, not on everyone since a lot of characters fit their chosen elements, like March has Ice because of her special Ice powers, than we have Bronya with wind element while she is a soldier fighting in an ice age setting), because the kits of three of the Ten Stonehearts have something in common and that can lead to theorizing that is something in common with all of the Ten Stonehearts. I'm talking about the follow-up attack.

Two is a coincidence, three is a pattern and we have a nice pattern here. And also, their paths (Hunt, Erudition and Preservation) say a lot about them and their jobs.

Topaz is a character following the path of Hunt and it's so fitting for someone who goes around to collect debt. She is actively "hunting" debts. Her stone is a yellow topaz, which is a birthstone for November and it is said to inspire "hospitality and friendship" and "produces an enduring, radiant energy", fitting Topaz's personality, she is friendly and cheerful, when not at work mode. Also, the topaz is a stone for protection.

Aventurine is a Preservation character and all of his kit is around gambling. For someone who gambles a lot, having the role of being a shield seems to be contradictory. But I don't think so, Aventurine gambles with his life to protect himself (like he did by gambling with Jade for his own freedom). The aventurine stone is a stone that urges to take new opportunities and helps someone grow as an individual and it's associated with luck and good fortune. Exactly like Aventurine himself, which is blessed with luck.

Jade is a character that follows the Erudition and we have seen her in the last Trailblazer Mission, doing both works for the IPC and works for herself. Her granting wishes shop made me think about Yuuko from xxxHolic, a story about a shop where a witch grants wishes with the clients paying an exact price for their wishes. And their prices go from memories to objects and also good luck. It's kind of a complicated story made by CLAMPS with their other story, Tsubasa Chronicles. If you know them, you should have found the resemblance between Yuuko's and Lady Bonajade's shops. The green jade is a stone that represents the heart (in the chakra system) and also the green color of jade was the color to use for the dead. Its symbolism includes associations with nobility and wealth, both things associated with Jade, since Topaz comments that for her, Jade is akin to nobility and obviously Jade is associated with wealth, a lot of it. Another thing is that jade is considered a protector of generations and she seems to "protect" both her juniors, Topaz and Aventurine. We don't know a lot about her to say anything related to her job and her path, but from what we have seen in the quest, she uses a lot of knowledge to make deals, like she is aware of the other side's budget to make deals with advantages for her side.

Back with the one common thing. The follow-up attack. This one I associate with Aha, the Aeon of Elation, since in Simulated Universe, by following this path, the follow up dmg is increased, and, the virtual paths are linked to the real ones. So, the Elation has a relation with the follow up attack. So, how come, three people belonging to a group "devoted" to the Aeon of Preservation have all a follow-up attack on their kits?

We know that their boss is an Emanator of Preservation, one of the very few who are working inside the IPC, but he is also an eccentric that surround himself with "unique and extraordinary" people, because Talent is the most precious investment of all. Could it be that he is an Emanator but not completely of the Preservation? This is speculative but what if Divergent Universe shows that Paths can fuse? We already know that Paths can be assimilated in another, like Order with Harmony, and that Phantalya was trying to merge the Destruction with the Abundance, so, what if Diamond, while being an Emanator of the Preservation, is also a follower of the Elation? I know, we still don't know a thing about Diamond and we have still seven more stonehearts to be released before saying with certainty that follow-up attack is part of the kit of every stonehearts. And we also have characters that have follow-up attacks in their kits and have no relation with the Elation, while having characters related with the Elation (Sampo and Sparkle) who actually don't have anything like a follow-up attack.

In conclusion, this turned up to be more an analysis on their stones that on their kit, with a bit of "why the paths they have actually fit their story" and lots of questions. I'm sure, the follow-up attack is an important part for the Stonehearts, I'm gonna bet on it.
