Managed to get an invite to St Mary-le-Bow to ring on the famous Bow Bells in the nursery rhyme, Oranges and lemons and the #cockney #bells🍊🍋. Rang bell 4 and 3 #ringingrounds and once I’d got into a rhythm and a little confidence (all the ringers are very accomplished #collegeyouth #bellringers) I was ringing ok. A nice chap came over after my first go and gave me some helpful hints and pointers and gave me some supportive words - ‘once you’d got into a rhythm, there were some nice rounds. Well done.’ Nice to hear and really appreciated. He said he remembered being a learner and how important it is to get encouragement. Thank you - it certainly is! My 54th tower 🔔 Lovely sounding bells; quite difficult to ring. I was doing the classic learner technique of hoping the rope would go taut and push the bell up 😂 It’s so frustrating how you go to a new tower and can’t ring properly!
