the sunset is toned in hues of dying yellows and cold, cold blues steely like the dull rail against my legs and fingers as i sit, numbing and numbing the smoke, which usually drifts and floats into the sky simply departs as if it never was in the first place

remembering the poem- my gift of self, too, is raped in utero, stolen and unrealized alone im drowning in lives countless lived before the same as my own fading to black, entombed

like the smoke my breath departs into the stillsharp air leaving my soul no less full yet no emptier as before as i sit and notice the colors of the sunset
