It’s been 2 weeks and 2 days with no opioids and it’s been 8 weeks and 1 days with no benzodiazepines 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I keep a list of good things about each day, and every day these numbers go right at the top. When I told my palliative care consultant these numbers yesterday, she added them to her very own Reasons To Be Cheerful List 😭 which I’m not gonna lie, made me rather emotional! Couldn’t have done this without my amazing doctor supporting me every step of the way. I’m immensely proud of myself; managing my pain, spasms and seizures without these meds is incredibly hard, every single day, but I honestly do feel so much better. I’m no longer battling my condition AND the meds (including the multitude of awful side effects)... I’m only fighting one war, not two. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awful and hard and scary... but I’m doing it! Every day! The detox and withdrawal symptoms are setting a little (although many of these effects can last a year), and I and my team are figuring out what my body is like without these drugs I grew up on. It’s an adventure, and one I’m proud to be on, and proud to talk about. Had an accidental lie in, which was much needed tbh! Still only got about 7-8 hours sleep, but considering I have absolutely awful agitation caused by the withdrawal (my mum literally had to stop me pacing the house and put me into bed last night/early this morning) that’s a good night! Better than the 5 hours I’ve averaged all week 😂👍🏻 Anyways, I woke up too late to be ready to do my yoga class, so I had a chilled breakfast in the garden 🥰☀️ I’ve got a palliative care video call appointment this afternoon, but most of today is gonna be spent sunbathing and in my unicorn 🦄 pool... might even do my appointment from the pool to make my consultant smile 😂!
