WENDY TESTABURGER. 3RD person.
bebe looked at wendy with gossip filled eyes. "soo? how did it go with you and stan doing ykwhat?" she smirked, the room filling up with giggles. "...not good." wendy replied. "he didn't really take much care of me. didnt even get to finish actually, he just.. u-used me." she started to tear up.
"sweetheart! how dare that man treat you like that?! piece of shit." [name] went up to hug her while wendy cried, the girls were also comforting wendy with comforting words. "how DARE that asshole just use you? i'm gonna have a serious talk with that dick." bebe said furiously. "yeah same here!!" "me too!"
as the girls left one by one, [name] continued hugging wendy. "darling i'm so sorry that happened to you." she said, wiping wendy's tears while continuing to comfort her. at some point, wendy stopped crying. "it's just.. he was my first time. i wanted it to be special, y-you know?" she stuttered.
"fuck him, wendy. i could totally show you a better time." [name] said, being physically annoyed at stan. "ye- wait what?" wendy said, looking at her best friend. "i said what i said, i could show you a way better time than that dick head!" she said, confidently.
"i-i'd like that." she stuttered, but this time because she was blushing slightly. "r-really? you sure?" [name] looked for reassurance. she nodded. "yeah. i'm too pent up 'cause stan treated me so horribly."
[name] grabbed wendy's cheek, her nails tracing over the other's facial features, she smiled, blushing as wendy saw her with a open-mouthed expression, as if she realized something. [name] then kissed her on the nose, and then on the lips. that moment was so special for the both of them. butterflies flew through eachother's stomach. as their mouths parted, they stood up. "you wanna go upstairs?" wendy asked, blushing still as [name]'s cheeks were also as red as ever. "yeah, sure." she replied.
. . .
as wendy laid on the bed, [name] held her tight. "i promise you, wendy, i'll treat you right." wendy fell at ease with her words. [name] made out with her and they slowly removed their clothing. as the clothes got on the floor, they stopped kissing. on the lips at least, [name] started to kiss wendy's body, whispering praise loud for her to hear. "such a beautiful woman, i'll take care of all your needs, like you deserve it, darling."
she smiled so hard at [name]'s praises. "could i?" [name] asked, looking at wendy while having her face between wendy's thighs. "yeah, do anything you want." wendy smiled, feeling good. [name] started licking wendy's womanhood slowly, feeling nice as she heard wendy feel the pleasure she deserved. [name] felt wendy tugging her hair, she smiled as she continued, going faster.
"mmm.. [name], y-you're so good at this, aah!" she moaned, groping her tits for comfort as her head threw back. [name] smiled at wendy praising her. "g-go faster!" she yelled as she tugged [name]'s hair harder, [name] complied and did as requested.
"i-i'm gonna c-cumm!" she yelled, as [name] didn't stop, resulting in her face being filled with wendy's cum. she started wiping it off and licking it. wendy felt so nice, "hold on, lemme wash my face." [name] said as she walked into the bathroom which was in the bedroom. wendy lifted the blanket to cover herself up, feeling cold due to the air touching her nude body.
[name] walked back in, lying down wendy as well. wendy looked at [name] with a confusing face. "aren't you going to ask for anything..?" she asked. [name] said no with her head. "no, silly. this night is for you, and you only. i wanna focus on your desires, plus i'm fine." she said, as wendy felt tears prick from her eyes. she hugged [name] tightly, as if she would dissapear if she let go. "i love you so much, [name]." she said. [name] kissed her on the head. "i love you more, my love."

one. goldie had never been close to her parents. her father was often thinking of and acting on his next get rich quick scheme which kept him in and out of jail, and her mother was too preoccupied with her own issues to focus on her daughter. so goldie spent the majority of her childhood in the care of her maternal grandparents, wilma and david petersen. for the majority of her childhood, goldie did not recognize the dysfunctional family that existed around her. her grandmother often tried to shield her from the reality of the situation, by keeping her busy in the kitchen baking cinnamon roles or cupcakes or brownies. two. when goldie first attended middle school was when she noticed aspects of her life were different. some people just seemed so perfect, and she was desperate to be like them. to be liked. years later her therapist would tell her that was from a combination of both mommy and daddy issues that caused her to crave acceptance and love from any person who could give it. perhaps if she had been able to recognize such issues, her life would have turned out differently. three. in high school goldie often struggled with who she was. her personality seemed to change with the wind, often matching that of whoever she was dating at the time. goldie, unfortunately, often compared her self worth to if she was in a relationship, a fault of her's that had still followed her into her adult years. while in high school, goldie was unsure of what her passions lied. she tended to focus on the here and now, which severely effected her ability to get accepted in college her senior year of high school four. she decided to go to community college to try to find herself. figure out her goals. instead she found a new boyfriend. one that made her feel like she was put on a pedestal and could never come down. on a whim she dropped out of school and followed him states away to denver, colorado where he said they'd build their life together. the pregnancy was a surprise for the both of them, but goldie was determined to make it work. she was in love, after all. deciding to get a waitress job to earn money for the baby, goldie felt nothing but excitement. unfortunately that didn't last long. her ex couldn't keep any promise he made, and goldie found she was the only one able to hold a job and bring in any form of income for the two of them. pressure began to build, and the two fought often. refusing to give up, goldie swallowed her pride and tried to make the best out of the situation. five. unfortunately no amount of love or hope made the situation better. and by the time her daughter was seven, goldie had enough. and it seemed the universe looked down on her in that moment. she received a message from her grandmother, mentioning the recent passing of her papa david and that she would appreciate it if the trio could come to the funeral in chicago to remember him. after a few conversations over the phone, goldie used the funeral as an excuse to pack her and her daughter up in a car (along with other belongings) and leave kansas for good. six. moving into her grandmother's home in willow peak is only supposed to be temporary. goldie's plan is to save enough money to successfully move her and her daughter out, and eventually open up a business of her own. a bakery. baking had always been a distraction for her in life, a way to find peace and focus. so why not follow that passion? unfortunately chicago isn't cheap, and she's feeling as though she's constantly struggling to keep her head above water. but she won't give up. both she and her daughter deserve better then what they've had.
CHARACTER TRAITS
positive: empathetic, hardworking, gentle
negative: obsessive, flaky, emotional
HEADCANONS
goldie has only been back in town about a month and a half. she has successfully found a waitress job and living with her grandparents in sycamore row.
when she left denver, goldie moved back into her grandparent's home. as there are only two bedrooms, she made the decision to share a bed with her grandmother to allow her daughter to have her own bedroom. the bedroom is actually goldie's old childhood bedroom, but she's okay with giving it up so that her daughter has her own space.
one of the only things she still kept with her from her time with her ex was a stuffed elephant plushie he had won for her at a carnival during their first year of dating. regardless of how things ended, she can't seem to get rid of it.
she is currently saving up to rent an apartment of her own, and is keeping her emergency fund of cash in an envelope in a book next to her bed.
for all intensive purposes, goldie essentially fell off the map when she moved to denver. any old friendships she might have made fizzled out and she's terrified to run into people from her past now that she's back home.
CONNECTIONS

(Victoria Pedretti, cis woman, she her.) Welcome back to The Gates’ Community Center, VIRGINIA BEAUMONT! Or should we say THE PRODIGY? As a resident of HARBORVIEW HEIGHTS for YOUR WHOLE LIFE, we are sure you need no introduction. However, we’d like to confirm some information for our community directory. You are THIRTY years old, correct? And a PSYCHIC at MYSTIC TAROT? Wonderful! We are so pleased to have someone who is DISCIPLINED, RESPONSIBLE, and AMBITIOUS within our community. Of course, we’ve also heard that you can be ANXIOUS, ISOLATING, and STUBBORN … but you can’t believe everything you hear, right? Anyone who reminds people of EUCALYPTUS AND SAGE CANDLES, LONG FLORAL SKIRTS IN THE FALL, and SAD EYES BEHIND A FORCED SMILE is welcome in The Gates.
BASICS
Name: Virginia Beaumont
Nickname(s): Ginny
Faceclaim: Victoria Pedretti
Species: Witch {Black Magic}
Birth Date: January 11th, 1995
Zodiac: Capricorn
Age: 30 years old
Gender, Pronouns: Cis Female, sheher
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual, Biromantic
Relationship Status: Single
Occupation: Psychic at Mystic Tarot
Residence: Harborview Heights (six years) , previously Maplewood Meadows (twenty four years)
Pets: a black cat named Luci
Reference Characters: Sally Owens (Practical Magic), Cordelia Goode (AHS Coven)
HISTORY
For as long as she can remember Virginia has been told by her mother and her aunt that she has shown signs of becoming one of the strongest witches they had ever seen, perhaps the strongest of her generation. And that’s a lot of pressure to put on a girl at the age of eight.
The talk of her future potential only increased as she got older and began to practice magic alongside her aunt. It seemed they believed that once old enough Ginny would help them to become the most powerful coven in the area, and hopefully extend their reach further than just this island.
While Ginny is not close with either her mother or her aunt, the relationship between her and her aunt was more strained and difficult. Her aunt had been her mentor and could be incredibly intense if Ginny was not performing as expected.
The majority of her childhood was spent learning the craft and training her skills, so it was decided early on that Ginny was to be homeschooled. Because of this, Ginny didn’t spend much time with other children, aside from her brother, until she was in her teenage years. She had convinced her mother and aunt to allow her to go to The Gates High School instead of continuing learning at home for four more years. Unfortunately, Ginny found it a struggle to connect to many of her classmates during her first year. She did not understand many of the references made, nor did she know exactly how to connect to anyone who wasn’t a witch. When her guidance counselor had used the phrase emotionally stunted, she did not return to public school for her sophomore year.
The pressure she felt to be perfect and save the coven only increased as she got older and as her abilities grew stronger. While Ginny is a very accomplished witch who feels confident in her skills, she still struggles with constant doubt, fearful she can’t be everything her family needs her to be. And now with her aunt’s death and the fact that they no longer have enough witches to form a coven, Ginny has put pressure on herself to fix everything in order to continue to live up to the expectations set for her at such a young age.
Ginny hasn’t told anyone, but she had a vision prior to her aunt’s death. She isn’t sure what it meant, as it came on fast and was too chaotic for her to really notice many details, but the idea that she might have been able to save her aunt has plagued her.
CHARACTER TRAITS
Positive: ambitious, disciplined, resilient, responsible Negative: anxious, impatient, isolated, stubborn
HEADCANONS
Before choosing to focus on black magic like her mother and aunt, Ginny actually excelled in all kinds of magic and had her choice of specializations. She ultimately went with black magic, as she knew that was what was expected of her, but part of her was deeply drawn to green magic. She has never told anyone.
Ginny’s powers of divination are incredibly strong and come through very clear. As a child she would occasionally have visions of incoming incidents. She hasn’t had much since then, unless she is calling forth a vision during a psychic reading. Regardless, her strength lies in her abilities to see into the other side through visions, to astral project long distances and to commune with the dead.
Ginny has a daily planner she uses to make sure she does not forget anything. Her schedule is intense and planned out to the minute, and she doesn't like to stray from it.
While Ginny struggles to connect emotionally to others, she desperately craves connection. So far, that need is fulfilled through one night stands and meaningless sex. The summer months have become somewhat of a blessing for Ginny, because it brings in numerous tourists she’ll never see again and won’t have to worry about crossing paths with later on in the week at the general store.
Her family did not often engage with other creatures if it was not a benefit to them, and because of that Ginny grew up with a slight prejudice towards anyone who wasn’t a witch.
CONNECTIONS
Mother Dearest - the meddlesome
Brother o’ Mine - the bohemian
The Future Prospect - the activist
Nate Windsor. The Project: Ginny made a daylight charm for Nate when he moved to The Gates. She is now looking to see if there's a way to cute vampirism for him.
Sabrina Shirazi. The Rival: Ginny and Sabrina don't get along. They both have preconceived notions about the other's "perfect life" which has caused for them to bump heads.

WELCOME TO DENVER, star! you’ve been accepted as christy-lynn paiget (JESSICA CHASTAIN)! please have your account sent in within 24 hours; don’t forget your CHECKLIST!
STAR, 25, CST; THEYTHEM. | if you’re hearing SUNDAY GIRL by BLONDIE playing, you have to know CHRISTY-LYNN "CHRISSY" PAIGET (SHEHER; CIS WOMAN) is near by! the FORTY-NINE year old OVERNIGHT PART-TIME WAITRESS AT NIGHT & DINE AND FREELANCE SCULPTOR has been in denver for, like, NEARLY THIRTY YEARS. they’re known to be quite DESTITUTE, but being AMICABLE seems to balance that out. or maybe it’s the fact that they resemble JESSICA CHASTAIN. personally, i’d love to know more about them seeing as how they’ve got those UNSOLD SCULPTURES REMAINING HIDDEN BENEATH FILMS OF DUST, WHILE A FEW CURRENTLY BAKE IN THE KILN: COULD IT BE HEAT RADIATING FROM THE KILN CAUSING SWEAT BEAD STIPPLING ON YOUR FOREHEAD AND AT THE BASE OF THE NECK, OR IS IT YOUR VERY DEEP-ROOTED, PERSONAL FEAR OF NEVER DOING ENOUGH, NEVER BEING ENOUGH? COULD BE THE MOUND OF "PAYMENT REQUIRED" ENVELOPES SITTING ON THE DINING TABLE, WHICH YOU'D SWEAR IS BOUND TO MOLT INTO A LIVING, BREATHING ENTITY EVENTUALLY. IF YOU'RE BEING HONEST, MAYBE YOU'D ADMIT TO CREATING ART FASTER THAN IT'S SELLING - AND THAT YOU KNOW YOUR ( CURRENTLY IN-SEASON ) NIGHTLY TIPS AREN'T ENOUGH TO KEEP THE POWER ON; BUT THEN AGAIN, IF YOU WERE HONEST ABOUT THINGS YOU KNOW, MAYBE YOU'D STILL BE MARRIED vibes. and maybe i’ll get my chance if i hang out around the RIVER NORTH ART DISTRICT long enough!

⟨ – adria arjona, cis woman, sheher. ⟩ it seems like esme cullen has been seen around town, humming weapons by ava max under their breath. apparently they are a 30 / 100+ year old vampire. townsfolk whisper about them being observant and cordial, but also quiet and enigmatic. they’re a member of the olympic coven, and they give off the vibes of a motherly hug that should be warm but is cold from their still heart and warm liquid amber eyes. dovewing for the ask game?
sexuality headcanon i think she's straight SORRY
gender/pronouns headcanon cis sheher
rate them out of ten 10/10 my fucking girlfriend
favorite thing about them i fucking love that she ditched thunderclan and moved in with the SHADOWCLAN LEADER i think thats hardcore
least favorite thing about them fanon portrayals where she seems to be having lots of fun with lion and jay and have tons of friends. naur she was isolated as fuck
why i first started liking/disliking them when i first read oots i couldn't stand her because i thought she was whiny (i would have been 12 when the fourth apprentice came out so dont judge lol) but when i returned to the fandom i started to appreciate her more. i didn't enjoy oots so i'm not going to reread it any time soon to see if i still feel like she's whiny but if she is, she's justified lmao
do i relate/project onto/kin them? no
favorite quote/moment i usually hate the female protagonist to background "mom" pipeline but i think dovewing stays pretty true to her own character by being a loving and supporting active mom, and tigerheartstar compliments that really well too. they're good parents.
my fav ship i'm actually ride or die for tigerdove
my fav platonic friendship i don't know i haven't read the books in so long
a ship i hate i don't ship things
do i prefer canon or fanon? fanon
random headcanon i like to imagine a scene that didn't happen in the books where she tells ivypool off for being an absolute shit to her
what color do i picture them as solid light gray with no markings
cat breed headcanon not a breed specifically but i have always seen her with american curl ears (as a mutation not as a breed trait)

Meet Me in the Woods (1/4)

...
In Derry, Maine, most people don’t know about the four spirits that reside there. Of course, everyone has heard of the four elements, Air, Fire, Earth and Water, but they had no idea about the identities behind their abilities. For centuries, the spirits passed between different entities, more often than not, humans. The problem was that almost everybody they passed through had the intention of using their abilities for their own selfish desires. The spirits eventually decided to retire in their own individual humans, starting as infants, and act as the little voice in their head as they grew up to insure that they would be their ideal spirit wielder.
The oldest of these spirits is Air. Air is a spirit that craved freedom, the one that touched the sky and, unlike the others, couldn’t be tied down and controlled. The spirit had hope to find someone like themselves, faster than fear and stronger than any danger. Air knew they had no success in finding somebody like this in grown people, but they believed they could mold the young child into what they need. What the world needs.
The second oldest is earth. Earth is nothing like Air, a polar opposite some would say. Earth was a content spirit, never reaching for what they can’t have because they already had it all. They, like Air, could never find somebody like this, it’s impossible to find a human without desires. Still, Earth was sure that they could teach their human to settle with their ability. Show them that they didn’t need to explore the world, instead they could make it. It’s wishful thinking and Earth would stick to it.
The third and second youngest of these spirits is Water. Such a beautiful yet powerful spirit, Water is definitely one of the most respected spirits out of them all but also the most fun. Water has a playful personality that, surprisingly, complimented their mighty ability well. Water wanted that in their human; fun and free but not afraid to do what’s right, even if it means sacrifice. Though the spirit was a lively one, there was no room for love in their existence.
The final and youngest spirit is Fire. Fierce was the only word anyone who looked at the ability of the spirit could use to describe it. They’re unbelievably powerful, even more dangerous than any other spirit and the most destructive. Fire is fearless, like Air, and never stepped down from a fight. Though Water has tamed them in the past, they always came back with more force than before. Fire knew early on that whoever they picked would have to be strong and won’t be pushed down- ever- even if Fire had to teach them.
As a child, Eddie always knew something was different. Most people can’t use the wind to help them run faster or hold them in the air while they read a book... or use the air at all. Eddie first learned that when his dad walked into his room when he was 4 and having a windy day in his room so his cape would flap up and down while he played. His dad, Frank, much calmer than anyone should have been, sat Eddie down and asked him about what he was doing. Eddie, convinced he was now in trouble, just ducked his head and told him that he was just playing and somehow willed it to happen. Frank smiled, called him his little bird, and had Eddie agree that he wouldn’t do it in public. Eddie reluctantly agreed but Frank promised that he would take Eddie out into the forest and they could play with it there.
For a few years, they did. Until one day Frank didn’t come home and the wind howled harder than anyone had ever seen that night.
The other side of all of this was Eddie’s mom, Sonia. She was blissfully unaware of her son’s unique ability his whole life since Frank urged Eddie to keep it away from her considering she might not understand the same way Frank did. Eddie didn’t realize why until he heard a voice in his head.
At ten years old, Eddie had surprisingly kept his secret from his mother pretty well. It wasn’t exactly hard to hide, it could be chalked up to the air conditioner being too high or a window being left open. What almost gave him away was a voice.
Eddie was looking out the window one night and saw his neighbors had a fire going in their backyard. He watched it with a smile, missing the days when him and his dad would do outdoor things together. His smile faded when he saw everyone go inside, leaving the fire to rise in height and nip at the leaves above it.
“Blow it out,” a voice said in his head. Eddie almost fell back from how sudden it was and how close it sounded.
“Hello!?” Eddie called out and frantically looked around his room, but he saw nobody and nothing even capable of making noise.
“Quick,” the voice snapped, “that could spread in no time.”
Eddie’s eyes filled with confused tears, unable to understand what’s going on and afraid of something he didn’t know.
“Edward! You have to stop it! A quick puff could take it out in a mere second!”
Then he couldn’t handle it anymore.
“Mom!!” He screamed out, “mom help me!!”
In no time at all, Sonia was barreling into the room, wild eyes searching frantically for her son and almost fainting at the sight of him sitting by an open window, sobbing his eyes out.
“Edward! Have you lost your mind!? What are you doing by an open window!?”
Eddie could barely see his mother through his tears. “I-“ he hiccuped, “I heard a voice! In my head!”
There was not a collection of words that could’ve scared Sonia more than those. In less than an hour, Eddie was laying in a hospital bed trying not to cry and listening to his mom scream outside his door. Somehow, everyone had ignored the hard push of wind in the hospital as the doctor explained that Eddie probably just heard a voice from the outside, as he seems physically and mentally healthy.
Eddie heard it again while he slept in that uncomfortable bed in a sadly familiar white room. Eddie trembled when he heard it, but something made it a little less scary than before, and a little more welcoming.
“You don’t need to be afraid of me, Edward, your father wasn’t.”
And for a young Eddie Kaspbak, a few years without his father or the freedom to use his abilities, that was enough.
Beverly heard her voice many years sooner than Eddie did. Beverly, like Eddie, had a parent who saw their ability and loved it as a part of them. At the time, Beverly and her parents lived in a small house a little further away from Derry but in Derry nonetheless. It was easy to hide Beverly’s more dangerous ability when there was nobody around to see it. As a baby, her crib caught fire more often than could ever be considered normal. The funny thing was that Beverly never got burned once.
Through too much trial and error and excessive lies to Beverly’s father, Alvin, Beverly lived comfortably with her mother, occasionally her father, and her flame.
Unfortunately, it couldn’t last. Beverly’s mother had been deathly ill for a good year in her life and didn’t survive. In her grief, Beverly, now four years old, set their house on fire without realizing she was letting her power escape her. When sheher and her father escaped, he slapped her and blamed her even though he didn’t have evidence and the firefighters couldn’t find a clear cause for the fire. But Beverly took it to heart. He was right. Now Beverly had nothing left of her mother and she took the blame upon herself.
Alvin moved them fully into the town. Kept them cooped up in a tiny, rundown apartment and let his love for Beverly slip with every sip of beer and drag of a cigarette he took.
One night, Beverly, seven years old, watched herself in her bathroom mirror. A fresh bruise was spreading across her cheek and she knew she’d have to cover it up before she went back to school tomorrow. She watched herself and felt tears slowly leak from her eyes. Thoughts of how she despised her appearance, her uncanny resemblance to her mother and how it’s a curse filled her mind. She felt nothing but hatred for it.
“Don’t do that,” a voice lightly scolded. Beverly leaped backward and frantically looked around
With as much bravery as a seven-year-old can muster, she called out, “who’s there? Show yourself!”
The voice let out a quiet, “tsk tsk,” and Beverly slowly started to realize it wasn’t a voice coming from someone in the apartment.
“Shh, you don’t need to fear me.”
Beverly trembled but couldn’t help but feel comforted by the gentle tone. “Who are you?”
The voice shushed her again, “never mind that. All you need to know is that I’m here for you, Beverly. I love you.”
Hearing that, even at seven and not truly understanding the power behind those three words, caused Beverly to collapse and sob. She had been denied love for so long. A caring voice to tell her everything will be okay. That she was loved.
“And don’t say those things about yourself,” the voice scolded again, but gently. “One of the things I love the most about you is your flame.”
Mike has...the perfect life for his ability. It’s unbelievably easy for him to hide it, he didn’t even know about it until he was six-years-old. Ever since he was born, the farm had been doing more amazing in their farming than ever. The soil was always perfect, everything grew at its best and there was rarely a spoiled harvest. It was amazing and unlike anything any farmer had ever seen.
When Mike did discover his ability, he was playing outside alone one day. He loved to be outside, to discover new things everyday. Though he was generally allowed to run around wherever he wanted, he still felt there was more to find. His father warned him of a high cliff above a quarry and that it was too dangerous to go alone. For a long time, Mike held onto that rule but the dullness of that day was just too much to bear for a six-year-boy who craved adventure.
It didn’t take long for his imagination to run wild and rationalize his decision to run off. In his mind, he imagined he wouldn’t get too close and he would come back before his dad noticed he was gone. There’s no way his dad just expected him to sit there and be bored all day! So he ran off, pushing tall grass away without touching it and giggling at how it tickled rather than lightly cutting his arms like it would to someone else.
Eventually, the soft dirt under his feet turned into hard stone, letting him know he was mere seconds away from seeing the quarry he had only started thinking about ten minutes earlier. One shove at a branch and suddenly he was greeted with one of the most breathtaking sights he’d ever seen in his life- not that he was really old enough to cherish it.
The quarry was huge, almost like a canyon in Mike’s mind. He thought the drop below had to be at least 200ft.
It didn’t take long for Mike to decide that getting a closer look couldn’t hurt in the slightest. It was in his best interest! Nobody in the whole wide world could just see the quarry and not get closer. So he did.
He inched closer. Then closer. Ever so slightly closer. Okay, a little closer. Maybe a lot closer. So, maybe too close.
What didn’t occur to Mike was that he had hit the natural edge of the quarry a few inches back. The ground beneath him just grew with every step he took. He didn’t take notice and he didn’t look back.
“Michael,” a voice suddenly stopped him.
Mike stopped, but didn’t bother to look around to find the voice. He just kept walking but at a slower pace.
“Michael,” the voice said yet again.
“Yes?” Mike squeaked out, keeping his eyes ahead.
“What are you doing?” The voice asked.
Mike shrugged, assuming whoever was there could see him. “I wan’ see the quarry my daddy always talks about!”
The voice hummed, “but didn’t he say to stay away?”
Mike paused, then he sat down and thought about it. “But I was bored!”
The voice chuckled. “Michael, it’s time to turn back. You know the way very well.”
Mike huffed as he got up and turned around. What he saw made him almost fall right back over. It was a large strip of stone, perfectly matched to Mike’s small width and as long as he had walked.
“What happened!?” Mike gasped out, his shock was quickly replaced with wonder.
“You made it, Michael,” it explained gently.
“Oh,” Mike sniffed, “can I get rid of it? I don’t wan’ my daddy knowing I was here.”
The voice chuckled again and it made Mike smile in response. “Of course, just go back to the edge and I’ll help you with the rest.”
So Mike did. He hopped along the stone right back to the natural edge of the quarry, mostly unaware of the way the stone path crumbled and fell into the water below. When he turned back around, everything was as it was before. He started walking back home where he knew his parents would be making lunch at this point.
Even though everybody had heard their voice relatively young, the youngest of them all was Richie.
When Richie was three, well, he couldn’t exactly speak the right way. He knew words, small sentences but his lisp made things hard to say. The strange thing about Richie was that he knew words he had never been taught by his parents. Words like, “spirit,” or “ability.” Things that Wentworth and Maggie, his parents, would never say and especially in front of a three year old.
The even weirder thing about Richie was that he had the most unusual tendency to be wet. As a baby Richie would be found surrounded by a puddle of water, or wake up from a nap soaked to the bone. When he was learning to crawl and walk, Richie couldn’t do it on tile because he always managed to slip on water that seemed to come from nowhere.
For the first few years of his life, his parents had no reasonable explanation for it. Maggie insisted he just sweated. A lot. Wentworth suggested a leaky roof, but how could he be soaked to the bone even when it hasn’t rained in three weeks? Richie was an unsolved case. The strange unknown “phenomenon” kept them hesitant to send Richie to a daycare or preschool despite how social they knew their son was, especially for a toddler. Maggie convinced most people that there was no point, she was a stay-at-home-mom and Richie was still young .In reality, she couldn’t stand the idea of sending Richie away to people who won’t understand him… even though she didn’t understand either.
It wasn’t until he was four when all their questions were answered.
Another quirk of Richie’s, even as a toddler, was that he could never keep a secret. Obviously he wasn’t trusted with big secrets, like what Wentworth bought Maggie for her birthday, but sometimes one of his parents let out a loud “FUCK” from one room and begged Richie to keep it a secret from the other parent. Not because they really wanted it to be, but because they really didn’t want Richie running around the house chirping out “fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!” And, well, that never worked.
Richie was playing in his room that afternoon. Most kids liked to play with actual toys, but Richie liked to play with cups of water. He was the only one who could do it too! He made shapes out of the water, his favorite animal (which changed every week) was a popular choice to play with. Today he made a fox, a playful one (at his spirit’s suggestion) that nipped at Richie’s fingers and ran around his room until Richie decided he wanted to cuddle with it instead.
As he sat on his bed, stroking his water-fox, he rattled off question after question.
“Fox bye bye?” Richie whined.
“I’m afraid so, but one day you can keep him by your side.” Water answered.
“But,” Richie sighed, “I wan’ fox! Can I keeps him?”
Water sighed, “I’m sorry, Richard, but nobody can know about him- or you. You know that.”
“... Not mommy and daddy?”
“Not even them.”
Richie huffed and crossed his arms. “Mommy and daddy no tell.” He sat up from his bed and grumbled, “mommy and daddy tolds me I can tell them a-anything .”
“Richard, let's just play! Make another animal!” Richie sighed, happy that his spirit’s serious tone was gone and rolled off his bed.
“I wan’ cracker.” Then Richie padded off to his bedroom door.
He yanked the heavy door open with all his strength, but he forgot about the fox still running around his room . It let out a loud yip and charged out the door and down the stairs where his parents were watching tv. Richie watched it run down the stairs with wide eyes, ignoring the way Water was screaming in his ear to stop him! Richard, no! But he was paralized.
He heard a shrill scream come from both his parent’s mouths. That’s when he ran downstairs.
Despite all the spirits being connected and having similar experiences growing up, they didn’t meet until they were freshmen in high school.
Eddie was homeschooled for a large chunk of his life. He was only allowed to go to school in his last year of middle school, which was probably the most miserable year of his life. Even then, it was a private school. He fought tooth and nail to be allowed into a normal public high school, demanding that his mother gave him a single normal experience. Amazingly, Air didn’t speak once during the fight. Eddie thought that Air would argue against Eddie, considering their belief is that Eddie should be in the forest , perfecting his ability. Eventually, his mother caved, but only because the constant storm patterns scared her into believing that god was angry with her.
Beverly spent elementary and middle school in an all girl’s school. There, she was heavily bullied. Beverly never really understood why, other than the fact that little girls were the biggest assholes in the world. She was miserable every single day of her life as long as she attended there and went home to her father. It was horrible, she couldn’t handle it anymore. Fueled by Fire’s demands to stick up for herself and the anger of being harassed again and again and again, Beverly burned a girl’s cheek. It wasn’t until after what she had done that she realized she didn’t have a lie that could save her secret from being let out. So, she set the school on fire. Lucky for her, nobody could find the source of the Fire. Nobody was going to believe a group of girls, who were notorious for hating Beverly, that it was her fault. Beverly was moved into Derry’s public high school when school started again.
Mike was homeschooled until high school. He begged his family to let him have any other sort of experience, just to be around other kids his age- other people! Despite the constant bitching from Earth in his head that this is perfect for you! A young spirit needs the freedom you have. It was annoying, but Mike didn’t let any of it get to him in the end. Eventually, his parents caved and let him do his last piece of school in a public school with all the other kids.
Then there was Richie. After his parents discovered their son’s unique ability and voice of reason in his head, they had to quickly adapt to accept their son for who he was . They didn’t like the sound of Richie saying that his destiny is to be alone with the water one day- or that’s what Water told him. So Maggie had homeschooled him until middle school. She hated to admit how afraid she was that her son with such a wandering mind would run away with the voice in his head demanding it, or even find out from a teacher that Richie had revealed himself. But she couldn’t contain Richie for long. Richie was allowed to go to a public middle school and high school with the promise that he’d keep his secret safe- no matter how guilty she felt about it.
It had to happen eventually. The four spirits are expected to work in harmony but from a distance. That’s how they worked for years, knowing of each other’s existence but only ever coming together during an important situation. Unfortunately for the spirits, humans don’t work that way. Meeting each other was all the teenagers could dream of when they learned there were others like them. It was going to happen no matter what.
It terrified the spirits.

What to see in Baku in 1 day - 18 most interesting places
Tumblr media
Baku, preserving traditions, confidently looks to the future and, changing its appearance with each new era, carefully preserves the heritage of past centuries. Modern architecture here is harmoniously combined with medieval fortresses and towers, ancient mosques – with cutting-edge concert halls, and oriental flavor – with the latest Western trends. Go to the capital of the Land of Lights, and we will tell you what to see in Baku for 1 day on your own, in order to fall in love with him forever and be sure to return.
How to get from the airport to the center
From G. Ailiev Airport, the center can be reached in various ways. Shuttle H1 goes directly to the center. You can buy a ticket for it at the exit from the terminal building in the machine. The ticket costs 90 cents, the journey takes approximately 40 minutes.
Another way is to use the city bus of route 116. He leaves from the airport and goes directly to the center with an interval of 30 minutes. Without traffic jams, the travel time is 1 hour. A ticket costs 20 cents, the driver sells them.
If you do not want to use public transport, you can take a taxi. Book it better in advance using any of the online taxi services. The trip will cost about $ 25 or more, depending on the class of car, and take 35 minutes.
Workshop Ali Shamsi
Tumblr media
In the Old Town, on Kichik Kala Street (Malaya Krepostnaya), an unusual house will surely attract your attention. Its facade is hung with many amulets, signs and symbols, decorated with installations depicting a huge lion with unusual eyes, aliens, native oilmen. Opposite the tree grows, the trunk of which is painted with three female faces. Tourists always gather around it to take pictures. In front of the house, two artistic brushes “grow” directly from the ground.
This is the workshop of the famous Baku artist Ali Shamsi. He himself can also be found next to the house. The artist often works in the studio and invites everyone to visit his house with pleasure. Inside the house is no less interesting than outside. There are two rooms in the workshop. The first houses art objects collected by the master, brought by him from other countries or collected here in his homeland, including during excavations in the Old Town.
Subscribe to our channel in Telegram, where we daily post the most last-minute tours and flights. And in the second – the work of the artist himself. Most of them are dedicated to the nature of Azerbaijan, their hometown and, of course, women. He paints flowers, the sea, mountains, portraits of beautiful women – everything that he loves and does not get tired of admiring. His paintings, bright, joyful, very kind, will certainly find a response in your heart. The workshop is located at: Icheri Sheher, st. Kichik Kala, 84.
Museum of miniature books
Tumblr media
On April 23, 2002, a unique museum was opened in the Old Town, not far from the Maiden’s Tower, which has no analogues anywhere in the world — it is a Museum of Miniature Books. Here are the smallest books in the world. These are rare editions of Russian classics, Azerbaijani poets and writers (including the great oriental poets – Nizami and Fizuli), books published during the Soviet years in different republics of the Soviet Union and in Europe. There is even a miniature edition of “Criminal Jokes” by Yu. Nikulin.
The exposition presents not only fiction, but also philosophical and spiritual books – for example, miniature Bible and Quran. And in contrast to them – the collected works of V. Lenin. Zarif Salakhov, the sister of the artist Tahir Salakhov, began to collect her collection many years ago, in the Soviet years. And this she began with a collection of fables by I. A. Krylov, published back in 1835.
The museum’s most valuable exhibit is one of the smallest books in the world. Its dimensions are 2 x 2 mm, but at the same time the book contains not only text, but also illustrations. True, to make out them, as well as read its contents, is possible only with the help of a magnifying glass. The museum is open every day, except Monday and Thursday from 11 to 17 hours. Free admission.
Governor’s Garden
Tumblr media
The Governor’s Garden is the oldest in the city. It was laid back in 1830. By the decree of Roman von der Hoven, commandant of the Baku fortress, all ship owners and their captains had to bring several bags of black soil from the south so that even crops that do not like the arid climate could be grown. They planted acacia, mulberry, conifers, broke flower beds, and some exotic plants.
The result was a unique garden in which even rare, including subtropical, plants grew. It began at the walls of Icheri Sheher, and when in 1865 the outer wall of the fortress was removed, the garden expanded significantly. For a long time it was the only garden in the city. For ordinary people, entry here was allowed only once a week.
By the end of the 19th century, arbors and terraces for relaxation appeared in the park. The garden was renamed many times, it bore the names of Mikhailovsky, Revolution, im. Aliaga Wahid, but the old name – Gubernatorial – has taken root best of all. Now adjacent to the garden adjacent to the building of the Philharmonic. M. Magomayev, therefore, it is often called the garden of the Philharmonic. It stretches along the fortress wall from Azneft Avenue to the Icheri Sheher metro station.
Kichik-Gala Street, 8 – place from the movie “Diamond Hand”
Tumblr media
In our country, the old city is familiar to everyone, even to a person who has never been to the Azerbaijani capital. Legendary Soviet films were shot here: Aibolit 66, Tehran 43, Do not be afraid, I’m with you. But, of course, the most recognizable views of Icheri Sheher are in frames from the films Amphibian Man and The Diamond Arm. Almost all overseas in the film “Diamond Arm” was shot in the Old Town. Soviet Baku at the time of filming becomes Istanbul.
Walking through the narrow streets of Icheri Sheher, you will surely find out where the sultry beauty is trying to seduce Semyon Semenych (“Tsigel, tsigel ai-lu-lu!”), You will see the walls of the Shirvanshahs Palace, against which Soviet tourists are given an excursion. And of course, no one can pass by the famous place next to the Chikanuk pharmacy, in which the main character was smuggled in plaster.
Tourists here are photographed in the same pose and with the famous phrase “Cheort beat!”. The exact address of this place is Kichik Kala, 8 (Malaya Krepostnaya, 8). Of course, now there is not a pharmacy, but an ordinary courtyard of a residential building with its measured life. To find this place, you can navigate by the nearby Thunder cafe at the intersection with Veli Mammadova Street.
Shamakhi Gate
Tumblr media
Icheri Sheher (Old Town) is not a millet a piece of the preserved ancient city. This is a unique architectural reserve, protected by UNESCO. The fortress with 25 towers and 5 gates rises above the sea and is surrounded on all sides by strong stone walls up to 8 m high, and their thickness reaches 3 m. Today you can get to the Old Town through the Shemakha Gate. For a long time they were practically the only gates of the fortress. In another way they were called the gates of Shah Abbas.
Once in the fortress there were two tiers of defensive walls. In the XIX century, when the city grew significantly and went far beyond the borders of Icheri Sheher, the governor proposed to remove the inner walls. In 1886 a decision was made, the wall was demolished, and the gates of the inner walls, called the Gate of Zulfikar (named after the shah who erected the inner walls), were moved to the Shemakhinsky.
As a result, the gates now have two arches and are often called the Twin Gates. Through the Shemakha gate you can enter the Old Town by car. But at the entrance you will need to pay 2 manat, and for each next hour to pay 1 manat.
Maiden’s Tower
Tumblr media
In the southeast of Icheri Sheher the famous Maiden Tower (Giz Galasy) rises, which has long become a symbol of the city. The thickness of its walls at the base is 5 m, and at the top 4 m. The height of the tower is 28 m. It is divided into 8 tiers, a spiral staircase leads to the very top. In the tower itself in the rock a well is arranged, 21 m deep. For what this tower was erected, historians still argue. According to many, it did not have a defensive function, but rather a cult function, associated with pagan times and, in particular, with worship of the Sun. The time of its construction, too, until the end is still unknown.
According to archaeologists who investigated the mortar and masonry, it could be built in the 1st century. or in the IX century. For a long time the tower served as a lighthouse. Until the 19th century, a flag fluttered at its top, which served as a guide for sailors, and from the middle of the 19th century the lighthouse began to shine. There are many legends associated with the tower. The heroine of each of them is necessarily a girl who, because of unhappy love, rushes from a tower into the sea and smashes into stones.
One of the stones in the sea at the foot of the tower is still called the stone of the virgin. This plot inspired many poets and artists to create their own works related to the legends of the Maiden Tower. Her image has become a symbol of the city. Now there is a museum in the tower, and at the very top there is an observation deck from where you can see the city. The museum is open every day, except Mondays from 10:00 to 18:00. A ticket costs 2 manat.
Shirvanshahs Palace
Tumblr media
The Shirvanshahs palace ensemble is the former residence of the Shirvan shahs, a unique architectural and historical monument that was built over several centuries from the 13th to the 16th centuries. It is located on a hilltop in the center of Icheri Sheher fortress (Old Town). In addition to the rulers’ palace itself, the complex includes a tomb, a bathhouse, a mosque of the 15th century, a mausoleum of a Baku scientist Seyid Yahya Bakuvi and a courtyard Divan Khan. Despite the fact that the entire complex was not built at the same time, it is a complete, harmonious ensemble, designed in unified architectural forms and combinations of decorative elements.
Spiral staircases and the main hall are preserved in the palace, which now presents an exposition consisting of archaeological excavations – dishes, jewelry, household items, musical instruments, weapons and the famous Shemakha carpets. Household items can be considered in the remaining 52 chambers of the palace. In the courtyard – Divan Khan – there is an octagonal rotunda with columns. Her appointment is still unknown.
It is assumed that this could be the tomb or the building in which the state council was sitting. The mausoleum of Seyyid Yahya Bakuvi, the scientist who worked here under the rule of the Shirvanshah Khalil-ulla I, was connected with an arch to the old Kay-Kubad mosque, which burned down in 1918 year. In the tomb, the remains of tombstones and 14 crypts of members of the Shirvanshah Khalil-Ulla family were preserved. The complex is located in Ichera Sheher, in Palace Lane, it is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. An adult ticket costs 2 manat, For students – 60 qepiks (kopecks), for students – 20 qepiks.
Monument to the poet Aliaga Wahid
Tumblr media
Aliaga Vahid (Aliaga Mammadkul-oglu Iskander) – Azerbaijani poet, satirist, friend of Sergei Yesenin. Very popular among the people were not only his satirical poems, but also lyrical gazelles. A very unusual monument to the poet stands in the Azerbaijani capital in Icheri Shaher (Old Town) on Kichik Kala Street (Malaya Krepostnaya). Its authors are sculptors Rahib Hasanov and Natik Aliyev.
The monument is the poet’s huge head, which grows directly from the ground – his neck, torso and hair represent the trunk and branches of trees and at the same time the interweaving of human bodies. The monument is very interesting to consider – all the cycles of our life are presented here: birth, love, separation, wedding, funeral. According to the sculptors, all our ideas live in our heads, they decided to “pull” them out.
The monument was opened on October 27, 1990. It was built almost entirely at the expense of ordinary people, admirers of the talent of Aliaga Wahid. The idea to perpetuate the image of the poet belongs to the architect, journalist and writer Arif Mansurov. He also sponsored the installation of the monument.
Market Square
Tumblr media
One of the oldest places in the city, Market Square, has always been indicated on ancient maps, but was discovered as a result of excavations in Ichera Sheher only in 1964. Once there was a large eastern bazaar. Gradually, the square began to carry not only trade functions, but also was the center of political and public life. Here the most important decrees of the rulers were read, court hearings were held and their decisions were announced.
However, during one of the enemy attacks, the square was destroyed. After that, it was no longer used for its intended purpose and eventually was used as a cemetery. Here archaeologists found 52 graves. On the top of the hill, under which the market square was buried, the townspeople gradually began to build houses. After archaeologists discovered and examined it, the area was cleared and landscaped. Archaeologists and restorers completely liberated it, restored the arcade, which rests on stone columns with a capital.
Mohammed Mosque
Tumblr media
In Icheri Sheher there is also another iconic structure – the mosque of Mohammed, or the Son of Kala, which translates as a broken fortress or tower. The mosque was erected in the XI century. Here, the date of construction of the mosque was even preserved. An inscription on one of the walls says that the mosque was built by ustad-rais Muhammad, the son of Abu Bekr in 471 (approximately in 1079). It was built on the site of an even more ancient structure.
During the assault on the city by the Russian fleet in 1723, shelling of the Icheri Sheher fortress was carried out. One of the shells damaged the tower of the minaret. At that very moment a strong wind rose and carried the ships back. Defenders of the city regarded this as a sign of God. For a very long time the tower was not restored, it became a symbol of resistance and then it got its second name. The minaret is adjacent to the main building of the mosque. Its upper part was restored only in the 19th century.
Haji Gaib’s Bath
Tumblr media
As in any eastern city, there are many baths. In the East, a hamam is not just a place intended for hygienic procedures, a visit to the bath was accompanied by a special ritual. And here they often gathered for negotiations and transactions. The bath of Haji Gaib was built in the 15th century in a very convenient location. Trade routes crossed here, and merchants from different countries gathered for ablution and business negotiations. Archaeologists discovered hammam only in the 60s of the last century.
Today, the bath of Haji Gaib, of course, is no longer used for its intended purpose. But tourists can see what a traditional hamam building was like in the Middle Ages. It consists of three rooms. The dressing room has rectangular shapes, and then follows a large central hall in the form of an octagon. It housed two pools with hot and cold water.
Under the stone tile floor, steam passed through the canals, which heated the room. Ceramic pipes also served for this. In the third room, in the locker room, they had tea after bathing, negotiations were held here, cheerful conversations and deals were made. Haji Gaib’s bathhouse is easy to find, it is located next to the Maiden’s Tower, on 5 Boyuk Kala Street.
Park “Little Venice”
Tumblr media
Seaside Boulevard is one of the most beloved places in the city not only for tourists, but also for the Baku people themselves. Here, back in 1960, a park was built, which is a network of islands and channels connecting them. It was called Baku Venice, or Lesser Venice. In the post-Soviet years, over time, this park became desolate. Restored it and upgraded only in 2011.
Now cafes and restaurants have opened along the banks of the canals. Here appeared small green areas, flower beds, fountains and openwork bridges. On the channels of tourists carry gondolas. Special marinas were equipped for them. The length of all channels of Little Venice is 1350 m, and the depth is 1.3 m.

In any city built on the hills, a funicular is a must. In Baku, the first lift appeared in 1960. By the Eurovision in 2012, it was not just repaired, but completely modernized: the old cabs were replaced with new, modern ones, which operate completely silently. Now from the Bahram Gur station to the Flaming Towers can be reached in just 4 minutes. And this way only 1 minute passes through the tunnel, and the rest of the time – along the hills of the Green Theater, covered with coniferous trees.
The trailer overlooks the Caspian Sea, towers and green slopes. In the evenings you can see fantastic panoramas of the city flooded with lights, glowing oil derricks and lights in the sea. A staircase also runs along the paths – in order to return to the embankment it is not necessary to use the funicular again, you can go down on foot.
The funicular is located near the Icheri Sheher metro station. It works every day except Monday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The fare is 1 manat one way. Payment is only for cash. The cars depart every 10 minutes.
Flaming towers

Since Zoroastrian times, Azerbaijan has been called the Land of Fires and the place of storage of the sacred fire. And the matter is not only in the oil and gas rich bowels of this land. This fire burns in the heart of every resident of this hospitable country. This is exactly what the creators of the modern architectural ensemble Flame Towers – Flaming (Burning) Towers – tried to embody in their work.
These are three tall buildings shaped like flames. The towers are considered the tallest buildings in Azerbaijan and are visible from all over the capital. When the lights turn on in the evenings in the towers, the lights turn on, and the movement of fire is shown on the monitors, from afar it seems that a fire is really blazing in the distance. They built towers for 5 years.
All buildings have different heights. The tallest tower is 190 m, the rest are 140 and 160. The towers house offices and accommodations, as well as the Fairmont Baku at the Flame Towers Hotel. It is most convenient to get to the towers from the Icheri Sheher metro station on the city funicular. It is best to view them from the waterfront.

Therefore, sometimes the wheel freezes and freezes while moving – do not be afraid, after a while it will continue to move. The cabins are completely closed, air conditioners work in them, a video showing the construction of the wheel is shown on the monitor, information about the height at which it is located and the temperature “overboard” appears.
The wheel is located at the end of Primorsky Boulevard, on Neftyanikov Avenue, next to the National Flag Square. It works every day from 10:00 to 23:00. A ticket costs 5 manat, for children under 6 years old – free of charge, from 6 to 12 years old – 3 manat.
Baku “Crystal Hall”
Tumblr media
When the duet Ell & Nikki from Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011, the country began to prepare to host the festival. For this, in less than a year, a new concert hall was built. For its unique form, this concert venue was called the Crystal Hall, or Crystal Hall. The external building of the hall consists of light metal structures.
They have built a huge number of LED bulbs. With the onset of dusk, the hall begins to glow with multi-colored lights. Thanks to special spotlights, thin strings-rays stretch out from the roof of the arena, which are clearly visible from all over the city. The hall seats up to 27 thousand spectators. Its equipment allows you to realize any visual intentions.
After Eurovision, the hall remained operational. World stars (Rihanna, Shakira, D. Lopez, etc.) often perform here, events are held as part of major sports competitions, for example, the 1st European Games, the Chess Olympiad. The hall is located on National Flag Square, next to the Icheri Sheher metro station.
