just. watching that shutdown happen is so so so cruel why would u do this to me. the way the artist shows the energy and life just leaving his eyes and then subsequently showing how. tired he is. makes me so so emotional

it fucking HURTS. and by god ive been there before - certainly not to this extent ofc, but ive also been in tough spots where all the work ive done for my engineering projects ends up being,,, pointless. it is VERY real, how demoralizing that feels and lloyds reaction to that, and i cant imagine the scale of how that despair increases when its related to the work you did to simply just live in peace. god. ow. ow ow ow ueueueuuee

like he just essentially got told that it didnt matter how hard he fought to live, to survive, it doesn't matter that he's "lloyd" now; kim suho is destined for an ill-fate. and considering we know him as someone who lives almost entirely for others? it's basically "hey, all this stuff u did for other people to make urself not a burden, became a burden. tough luck!" GOD THATS SO. GHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGHH

and he's trying so hard to think of himself as lloyd frontera still but like. whats the point? his association with lloyd frontera became the thing that doomed him

this panel in particular is INSANEE AAGHGHGHHGGG the colors washed out, how limp he looks, the blankness of the background like nothings there. this is where lloyd is right now, hope ripped from him, this reflects that really well. it HURTS.

is dissociated the right word for this? in despair? either way he's emotionally and mentally going THROUGH it, and essentially back to isolation considering how he ignores javier

i also wonder now if lloyd has already made a choice, to let javier live? we dont get to see more of his thoughts beyond this point, so its hard to say whether or not he's already made the decision of which protagonist lives,,, god im so worried for him. a part of me suspects that maybe he already chose javier to live,,, IM SO SCARED,,,,

speaking of javier,,, we see him talking to arcos and marbella!! and AGGGHHH AAAHHH MY HEART i really really think that javier was being completely genuine here. i think he really believes this. javier in general has a tendency to be incredibly genuine in the things he says (examples i cant think of off the top of my head but this episode has a lot of em LOL). he's asserted multiple times that he believes lloyd can save their estate, and its clear he means it every time. the faith javier has in lloyd is so so strong and it makes me so fucking EMOTIONALLL im getting ahead of myself a little bit sorry

but then the stare that arcos gives to javier,,, i think silent was the one who mentioned it but its as if arcos isnt sure if he should believe him, and if u take into account the last time they asked about lloyd's status,,, it's very much possible that he doesnt believe javier, but javier has so much faith in lloyd that he leaves them alone anyway. god,,, gghh,,, mmy heart,,,,

i talked about it above but like. when javier really truly believes something, when he really truly wants something, it's so fucking obvious. this boy does not lie or pretend about how he feels, point blank period. hell we've seen his behavior when he lies/is not telling the truth; his words are stiff and out of character, and his expression is either menacingly tight or stiffly robotic. he has so, so SO much faith and such a deep desire to save lloyd, and it shows in how he's genuinely fucking thankful that the angels agreed to (or well, were coaxed into agreeing) with what he asked for. i think it's a really interesting character trait and it completely tracks that javier was the protagonist of knight of blood and iron. genuine, emotional characters who love and lose, who have hope and can believe and can also experience despair, can make for an extremely compelling story. javier nails it right on the head

i also think that this character trait completely influenced the way javier used the tactics that lloyd uses. like yes, this is something that lloyd could do, but he also would never be able to pull it off because he doesnt have that same protagonist heart and honest-to-god (pun intended) genuineness that javier has. this inherent authenticity that javier seems to just naturally possess is what allowed him to make these statements and demands, because the sincerity he wears on his sleeve makes it all end up feeling reasonable. only javier could have done something like this, and no one else. i think thats REALLY fun!!!

ricky is dating gina, a girl he calls "home". he's finally becoming more at peace with love and how to show it. he's learned how to not run from his problems. his parents are getting back together (???) and his drama teacher wrote such a good letter of recommendation that he was accepted into a community college

gina becomes a literal movie star and was able to change the filming location of her second movie, without any consequences, to salt lake so she can physically be with ricky, the boy she finally got to date after crushing on him since the day they met. she has a permanent home to call her own now. her mom finally showed up to an opening night and she was finally able to portray gabriella

and then ej...is alone (in a wildcat sense) at college, financially cut off from his family, working multiple jobs to afford it. he spends most of his season 4 screentime guiding and helping others (ricky, gina, miss jenn, madlyn) instead of an actual storyline and a lot of his lines were about how he's made mistakes and has to live with them

After some thinking, the time Diona is adopted definitely takes place after Lynn is married. She was taking a week off to visit her homeland + visit some friends and family (even if they weren't related). During that time period, that's when she adopts Diona and brings her along her travels while she was vacationing.

Once that one week was over, she travels back to Inazuma with her newly adopted daughter alongside her. Once they were in Watatsumi Island though... that's when a certain husband is greeted with a very unexpected surprise.

Teppei happily greets and welcomes Lynn back! He definitely missed her (a lot) (so very much) (he was probably complaining abt it sometimes to his troops even but that's beside the point).

When he catches sight of the... kid(?) that was clinging alongside his wife, that's when he gets really confused yet curious. (Or was she a kid? He wasn't sure, she had cat ears and a tail. She could've been a yokai of sorts, or something like General Gorou).

Diona is slightly hiding behind Lynn, feeling a little uncomfortable at the moment. Although she saw Lynn hug and greet him happily, she still kept her caution up.

When Teppei asks about her to Lynn, that's when Lynn gets... a little flustered but tries her best to explain the situation still.

"I know this is really short notice- I was planning on writing you a letter even about it, but it... completely slipped my mind. But uhm... Teppei, love, meet our daughter, Diona. Diona, this is Teppei- he's my husband, the one I've told you about."

Teppei is... stunned to say the least. He hears the word daughter and suddenly his mind goes blank yet is racing with so many questions all at the same time. Daughter? Daughter? How? When- why? How did-

Meanwhile, Diona is still quiet, seemingly glaring at Teppei as well. She was observing his reaction, his expressions, and she feels a lot more tense when she sees him get confused and shocked at the news. Teppei takes notice of this, and tries to calm down and compose himself to properly introduce himself to his new daughter... considering she was already here.

"Hello, uhm... I'm Teppei, though- you already know that since Lynn said so. It's still nice to meet you, Diona." He wasn't really sure what to say. He felt a bit awkward. What do you even say to kids? Let alone one that was supposed to be your daughter now?

Diona stays quiet and still looks a bit tense, keeping herself close to Lynn (who lets her do so, just to give her some comfort). Teppei is now internally panicking because oh god, oh fuck, he does not want to upset this kid considering he can tell she means a lot to Lynn and vice versa.

"I know this is a bit new, but... I promise that I'll try my best to take care of you the same way Lynn does-"

"Do you drink?"

"And- ...what?"

"I said do you drink? Like alcohol?"

There's a sharpness in her words that Teppei gets taken aback by. It was so sudden yet she seemed really serious about asking it. He decides not to question it and just answer.

"Well, there's sake here in Inazuma that contains alcohol. But I- I don't drink it often."

That seems to make her frown a bit, which gets Teppei a lot more concerned and worried. Did he answer wrong? Was he just supposed to say no? He was sweating at this point and felt just as tense that he glances over to Lynn to maybe get some help.

Lynn realizes right away and nudges Diona to look at her as she speaks.

"Diona, dear, he rarely drinks alcohol since he has an important job to do. I can assure you that it's different this time around."

"Da- he also had an important job to do but he always got drunk." She reasons, which makes Lynn frown as she feels her stomach twist hearing such a memory from her daughter.

"Right... I'm sorry. But I promise you that I'll make sure things will be different from before, okay? And I'm sure Teppei here can promise that too."

"Oh- I... yeah. Yeah, things will be different here. I promise I'll be a good... father to you, if that's what you need." He's not used to referring to himself as such, but if that's what he needs to be now, then he'll try to make sure he accomplishes such a role.

Diona still looks tense as she looks back at Teppei hesitantly. She couldn't really smell any alcohol on him, moreso saltwater than anything. But she still can't shake the feeling of fear and frustration inside her.

Teppei... he was trying really hard to reassure her, to earn her trust little by little. He won't force her, but he wants them both to get along still at some point. He doesn't want her to feel scared around him, even if he doesn't know the full picture yet on her life from before.

"When... when do you usually drink?"

"Only on special occasions, which is very few and rare. But even then I... usually don't get myself drunk. Especially nowadays, since Lynn is here." He laughs nervously, trying to ease the tension.

Diona seems to loosen up a bit, but she's still clinging onto Lynn. "You smell like saltwater. Do you spend a lot of time in the sea?"

"Yes. Me and my troops usually train near the ocean since Watatsumi Island is surrounded by it. It's also because we sometimes patrol the borders to make sure there's no unwarranted visitors."

"Do you ever go fishing?"

"Fishing? Uh... sometimes? Only when I really need or feel like it. There was one time me and some other soldiers during a war had to catch fish by ourselves since we were running low on rations."

"Like... with your bare hands?"

"Yeah, but only because we got a little desperate when no fish was grabbing onto our bait."

"Pfft-" She laughs, and it makes Teppei smile. "That's so dumb."

"Maybe it was." He chuckles. "But it worked still in the end, so it wasn't a complete loss."

Diona lets go of Lynn now, seemingly getting a little more comfortable. "What kind of fish are you able to catch?"

"Usually the common ones. Anything out of that range is usually in deeper waters. Do you... wanna go fishing with me some time to see?"

"I don't like getting wet."

"Fishing usually comes with the risk of getting wet, dear. But it's a small sacrifice to be able to see different types of fish, don't you think?"

"Mmm... I guess."

"She doesn't have to go if she doesn't want to, love-"

"No no, I want to go. I'll go with you. It's just a bit of water. I'm not scared."

"Oh! Well that's good! Do you uh... wanna go now?"

"Don't you have training to do, Captain?"

"Oh- Lynn-" ////

"It's okay, besides..." She looks over to Diona before speaking again. "We need to get ourselves changed first. We've been traveling for a while now, so some fresh clothes are a must right now. I'll take it as a chance to show her around the house too."

"Let me come with you two."

"No, it's fine-"

"I insist-"

"Go excuse yourself first to your troops. We'll still be at the house no matter when you come back, so don't fuss about it too much, okay?"

He sighs. "Fine. Alright. I'll see you two in a bit then."

Once that's done and over, they both bid themselves goodbye once again as Lynn and Diona heads over to where their home is located.

"How are you feeling?"

"Hm? I'm okay. This place is really pretty."

"That's good. Uhm... so, what do you think about him?"

"Huh? You mean Teppei?"

"Yeah!"

"Well my first thoughts were 'that's seriously your husband?'"

"Hey-"

"But... he's okay. I guess a little better than... dad."

"Draff... you don't need to refer to him as your dad if you don't want to. But I'm not gonna force you to call Teppei your new dad either. You can call him whatever you feel most comfortable with, but I can assure you that Teppei will better fill in the role as a father for you as well."

"...I know. Thank you, mom."

lynn murray witnessing her son getting taken away by the television, screaming in agony and grief and pure, motherly rage. lynn punching the television that stole her son, over and over again, screaming to let him go, to give him back. she receives the alternate version of her son from cracked and mangled hands, pushing the baby into her arms desperately. she doesnt realize that the alternate has tricked her. she wont know until its too late.

the television is broken, lynn's hand is bleeding, and the tears that have pooled down her face have dried. her child is crying. she gets up from shock, holding her child in her arms like he'll get stolen again (its a possibility. she doesnt know where or when adam could get snatched again), and goes to the master bedroom. she's alone, with her child, not knowing when or if jude is coming home soon, or if what happened actually did.

the only evidence of the act being her bloodied, possibly broken fingers, and the television screen being smashed to bits, glass almost everywhere in the baby's room. she first wraps her son, her beloved baby boy, in a towel, and places him in the bath. she has full view of him from here, in case they come from the drains this time, yet enough room to fix up her hand. the hammering in her head, blurred and sore vision make her unable to focus on anything but her baby.

after painstakingly getting the bits of glasses that were stuck in her knuckles out, wrapping her hand up the best she can, she sits in the bathtub with him. its silent, save for the attempts to calm her breathing, the heartbeat slamming against every rib in her chest, and the incoherent, quiet babble coming from beside her. shifting in her seat, she stares at adam. her boy, her precious bundle of joy, almost died by something she had no comprehension of.

the thought terrified her. what if they come from the phone next? what if they break down her door? what if they torture such an innocent baby? who even are they? the thoughts raced in her mind, hands moving before she even registered that shes hugging her knees tightly, nails digging into the fabric of her pants. the tears start back up again, lynn quietly whimpering while adam falls back asleep, none the wiser.

she startles when the phone rings in her back pocket. the uncomfortable lump shes felt the entire shes sitting here has been her phone. shifting around, she answers the phone. her voice, hoarse from yelling and crying, stutters and stops.

"lynn? honey, im on my way home. i know im a bit late but the boss wanted me to do overtime." jude's voice was static-y, no doubt from the bad connection. lynn felt herself relax a bit, hands still shaky and mind still racing, though calmed by her husbands voice. "jude. i- i saw... i did- i-" she felt her throat close up, still trying to process what to even say. "something bad happened." how else could she describe it? could she?

"lynn? what the hell? what happened? did something happen to adam?" he sounded urgent, and perhaps even accusatory. "yes. no. i dont know. i cant describe- i- it all happened so fast- that- he's-" "lynn, what the fuck are you saying?" anger, now. "the television. it- it took him. but i- i got him back." silence. and then a very loud, very disappointed sigh. "listen, lynn. just- look, youre obviously hysterical right now, ill talk to you when i get home." dial tone.

she felt dread pool in her stomach, though she knew that it had to be a terrifying hallucination. it had to be. it had to be. why would televisions grab children? that doesnt make any sense. none of this made any sense. if her mind wasnt safe, what was? could she trust anything that she sees from now on? questions, yet again, filled her mind. the now silent bathroom, save for the occasional baby noises from a sleeping adam, mocked her.

she gets sent to a mental hospital for years, until adam no longer remembers shes even alive. the quest to find her, once again, ignites.
