Lunch Date

I went out to eat today.

I went to the restaurant (table for one, please)

To a restaurant I'd never tried

Indian buffet never disappoints:

Naan, tandoori, butter chicken, paneer

Rich foods and deep orange curry

(Managed not to spill it on my sweater (cream colored sweater))

The restaurant was mostly empty,

Soft murmurs of conversation,

Instrumental music above

(Why do they always play western style piano solos in Indian restaurants?)

I sat and ate my food

No book, no social media,

I left my phone in my bag.

I had gone there on a whim

After visiting some pet stores just to watch the critters

(I always wonder if it bothers the employees

To have people come in and treat pet stores like a mini zoo.

I'd be buying if I had the money and my landlord allowed pets, I swear!)

I visited the pet stores because I had been in Walmart,

Getting the finishing touches for my new apartment

And remembered how some of them used to have aquariums

(Does anyone else remember that?)

So I went to watch the fish,

And the kittens and the parakeets and guinea pigs

And the one sleeping corn snake

Until I decided I was hungry.

And I sat there in the restaurant,

No company, no distractions,

And ate my meal,

And it was enough.

Entered a local town museum's photography contest, didn't even get honorable mention. :/ really bummed. But, didn't expect much considering it's probably family voting for family. Ya know, small town nepotism at it's finest.

Here's what I entered, these are older photos from vacations but I always really liked each one for various reasons.

i was talking to an irl about it and it occured to me that i never actually mentioned why i'm not insecure about the parts of my body most people would be insecure about: i just keep thinking as something you would add to a character to make them more interesting

stretch marks and cellulite? thats what you'd see on some fanart about the blorbos having a beach day. bags under the eyes?? i mean cmon have you ever seen a cool edgy character thats a fan favourite WITHOUT eye bags?? more of a specific example but i have one hooded eye and one non hooded eye and they dont match in the slightest and ive always thought theyre the kind of thing you would add on a picrew to make em look more interesting

im not saying this is the only or right way to think about it, or that it's wrong not to think about it like this, but that's just the mindset i've developed over the years and i liked the idea of sharing it

Some long-overdue art of one of my favourite gods to write in my WIP universe (which you can read now omfg i still can’t believe that’s possible)!

Creating the pantheon, I wanted to play with expectations about a deity of death, poisons, assassins...so the Blind Adder was created to oversee those domains as well as life, medicine, and surgeons. She’s a mediator in a pantheon full of petty, in-fighting gods; she’s careful and quiet about her alliances and enemies; and she’s more interested in a good story or testimony than justice or vengeance. When she appears as a human, she uses the hands of her followers and sorcerers--quite literally.

She’s all tied up with my protagonists (because as coy as she is, she wouldn’t belong in that pantheon if she wasn’t a meddler!) and I both can’t wait for more people to meet her and to work with her more in the sequel to Deep Roots!

sometimes i’ll like a post shitting on a particular art style for being trashy or meaningless or otherwise ugly and then i remember a piece i liked in that style and then i feel like a lowly little worm and have to go unlike the post

Just remembered this one time about a year ago when I drew the Lemon Monster before leaving my sketchbook on my bed to take a nap. Later woke up to the sound of my younger cousins chatting and realized they were on the bed with me and were trying to look at the drawing.

I��m half awake and confused at what’s going on at all, and in the midst of me trying to get my brain to function so I could get my sketchbook away and avoid explaining why there’s a weird lemon creature in there I hear one of them say, in the most optimistic tone of voice a child can do:

“GUYS! LOOK! It’s a DINOSAUR :D”

Biggest highlight of last year, honestly (I know it looks bad but give me a break it was 2021)
