Let's talk about Eddie's ambiguity deliberately interrupting StevexNancy a moment and 10 seconds later encouraging Steve to get back with her

I've been rewatching Stranger Things and I really feel like there's something to the clocks/time. The grandfather clock, the black widows having an hourglass marking, the time in the upside down being stuck in 1983. There's a line in s4 when 001 says "I could restore balance to a broken world" juxtaposed with Henry turning the hands of the grandfather clock backward. Then when Vecna is showing Nancy a glimpse of the future, there's visions of the hands of the grandfather clock spinning backwards again. I really think that in order to "fix" Hawkins, there is going to have to be some sort of timeline reset. That in order to restore balance, they're going to have to merge the upside down with the real world and in order to do that Hawkins might have to get set back in time to before the first portal was opened. And if they do that, does that mean they would bring everyone back? Max, Eddie, Chrissy, Billy, Bob, Barb, anyone who died to Vecna or minions of the upside down. But in order to do that I think someone is going to have to make a sacrifice.

Personally I think Will is going to be the big bad next season. I think this because of his obvious connection to the upside down and Vecna. He was the first one physically brought into the upside down and spent the most time in it. He's got the guilt and suicidal thoughts that Vecna feeds off of due to his suppressed romantic feelings for Mike. Not to mention his hair, his hair hasn't changed the whole series, everyone else's has, but just like the upside down, he's physically stuck in 1983. Then there was the whole 'Will is a traitor's storyline from season 2.

I also think that Jonathan will sacrifice himself to save Will because he feels responsible for Will and because he's the only person who truly understands Will. They made Jonathan MUCH more attentive to Will in s4, he's the only one who truly knows what's going on with Will and how he's feeling. That's why they're setting up the StevexNancy vibes. They've also given Joyce a love interest who's also lost a kid and would know how that level of loss and grief would feel and who could see her through it.

I'm finishing season 4 tonight and I'll update this if I can find any other evidence to support my theory.

The way the Duffers handle some characters worries me because 1- It does not make sense and 2- there is a serious problem with time management and balance in how they handle their characters esp considering the main plot and some dynamics.

I personally think Jancy is end game. So it makes me ask what was the point of this ship teasing of StevexNancy in this season only to milk the love triangle drama instead of naturally adding more moments between Jonathan and Nancy and making them more likable to the audience so that the viewers would be supporting Jancy as a ship. It feels like the writers chose drama over natural progression, and it resulted in the regression of the narrative and characters.

If they wanted Will to have a focal focus in the next season, why did they minimize his character this much and made the majority of the audience be bored with his character and see him as a useless character overall? Same with the other Cali gang members. And considering that both Mike and Jonathan will also potentially have screen time in the next season (i hope)... where is the logic? the majority of the audience sees them as useless and boring.

Supposedly RobinxVickie are going to be a couple, which makes them the only lgbt canon ship on the show (i personally do not think Byler is happening, but I am not going to start a discourse about this in this ask). So why not give RobinxVickie more moments in this season? Why just give them a couple of minutes at most if you want your audience to root for your only wlw couple on your show?

Supposedly the Russia plot will not make a prominent appearance anymore because the story will be centered in Hawkins in the next season. Then why spend so much unnecessary screen time on the Russia sub plot and include unnecessary screen time for minor characters that will not have prominent roles and are not even main characters.

There's just too many things to count honestly but yeah, the writers do not know how to manage their time and their large cast of characters.

Those are all really good points! It kinda makes sense to me there wasn’t a lot of Vicky in s4; we didn’t need even more focus on new characters but it does make for a weird set up in s5. And yeah it makes no sense to minimize Will so much, there was too much time spent on peripheral new characters in Russia, and I still don’t know what their intentions were in bringing back the love triangle. Would love to see them get back to good character writing and interactions we haven’t seen for awhile (so more Byers, would also love in addition to jancy talking, to see a teen group and how Jonathan and Steve would interact). But yeah they def need to keep a focus on all OGs and give them more equal screentime.

I HAVE HAD A REVALATION AS TO WHY I DISLIKE STEVExNANCY SO MUCH:

It’s mostly because of the fact that 1) they had both moved on, Seve with Robin (bad luck but he did like her) and Nancy with Jonathan, and 2) Steve straight out said he was over Nancy in that convo with Robin

This is the exact same thing that I did not like about Stydia in Teen Wolf. By the point they got together Stiles had been pretty happy with Malia and they just abrubptly went ‘no’ and Lydia had been involved with other people so my brain had clocked her as Not Interested. I also just liked the platonic bond they had established.

I love characters finding love but sometimes it just feels to me like... platonic love would work nicer? Obviously that’s just my opinion, but yeah.

-THE STEVEXNANCY SHIT!!!! ENOUGH!!!

-everything with will. please just let him do something other than suffer and be sad about being gay and then get sidelined by the story. also why did they not let him come out to jonathan☹️😒🤔 why are they so afraid 2 say it

-the fact that they’re gonna pair robin up w some random girl who had maybe 3 lines

-the whole russia plot was just kind of weird and felt so out of place

-if max lives then we are fine…. if she dies then im offing myself

-the vibe of the show is so different now idk the writing just isn’t as good anymore

David’s words echoed in Nancy’s mind, warning her of what she planned to do. David wasn’t exactly the most empathetic person so, she couldn’t really take his words to heart. She couldn’t help but feel guilty... I mean, how couldn’t she? The Spirit looked exactly as old as she did, and yet she was barely together. Both physically, and mentally. She wasn’t a psychiatrist, but even she could tell the ghost showed signs of bipolar disorder. Either that, or it was as if something in this realm was possessing her and causing her mental health to deteriorate. 

Her blood ran cold, staring face to face with the ghoulish woman. She panted, her blade unsheathed and still wet with the blood of her teammates. Nancy was going to die, wasn’t she? She might as well go down with the plan still in mind. “Rin... that’s your name, r-right?”

The girl tensed up, her eyes widening in shock. Guess she was right. The only reason she knew that was from Yui, not sure how she knew the Spirit’s name but, she never really questioned it. “I-I don’t know what happened to you but... I can tell, you... you really don’t want to do this, do you?”

Rin’s body trembled, biting her lower lip so hard Nancy could see a hint of blood. She raised her blade up, preparing to strike the other girl down, only to freeze. Tears started to pour down Rin’s face as she shook her head. Nancy slowly reached up, gripping the cold, lifeless hand that clutched to the blade. She watched as it slowly dematerialized and Rin began to sob, falling to her knees. “I’m sorry... I’m sorry....!” 

She spoke in a language Nancy couldn’t understand but, could tell she was remorseful. She kneeled down across from Rin. “I’m sorry too...”

what she means: i can't believe people actually ship nancy with jonathan, because that completely goes against what the writers are trying to do. they set up your basic trope: good girl is trying to be #edgy and is dating your stereotypical "bad boy", and then this "nice guy" comes along and pays attention to her. listen, jonathan is great and all, but i don't trust pretentious creeps that like to take pictures of girls making out with their boyfriends in privacy without anyone's permission. jonathan also tried to put nancy in this box. "you were trying to be someone else." the writers totally destroyed the idea of nancy simply being that straight A student that wants to rebel. she's not dating steve, or drinking, or shooting guns because she thinks she's being "different". she's doing those things because THAT'S WHO SHE IS. you can get straight A's and want to do well in school while also partying and dating a hunk. speaking of the hunk, steve is actually wayyy better for her than jonathan (i mean i'd be happy if nancy decided not to be with anyone but let's be real i'm a total stevexnancy person) and here's why: he paid attention to her, like really noticed things about her. he didn't make fun of who she was in a condescending way, and he also supports her. like, yes, he's problematic in that he has shitty friends and horrible parents (from what we've heard) and while his initial decisions are rude and selfish, he becomes self-aware and tries to make it up to people. i.e., going to jonathan's to try and apologize and buying him a new camera, or coming to nancy to tell her he confessed to the police even though it got him in trouble, or telling his friends where to stick it and then going to help wash off the graffiti. in short, jonathan romanticized this version of nancy that wasn't really all of who she was and people paint him to be this great guy (would you trust a guy that took pictures of you without you knowing, and then only feeling guilty once you found out?) and steve is this beautiful work in progress that wants to understand how nancy works as a person. so basically the fact that the writers didn't leave nancy with jonathan means that they destroyed that basic story line where the "nice girl" leaves the "bad boy" for the "nice guy" and they did it in the best way possible without completely bashing any one character and i just really love this show.

Do you plan on writing any more fics for stevexnancy? I love that ship so much and I really loved your Could Be Worse fic it was so cute!! As much as I love Jonathan and the three's dynamic there's barely any fics with just Nancy and Steve as a couple either pre dating or when they finally are dating. The ship needs more love for these two high school love birds

Yes I am!! I have a couple works in progress for them already, as well as a prompt I’m writing for them, and they should be published soon.  One of them is actually a sort of sequel to Could Be Worse, and I’m so glad you liked that fic! It sort of came out of nowhere for me, but I was pretty happy with it in the end :) I’m so glad you sent this message, and I hope you see my new stancy fics soon!

I ship Steve and Nancy from Stranger Things. I personally feel like he redeemed himself when he ran into the house to help defend against the monster.
