Okay but hear me out!

Punk King Steve 'The Hair' Harrington! He starts to go Punk even before season 1!

Just! Hear me out!?!

What about pre season 1 Steve goes on one last business trip with his parents to like New York or Boston or something cause he still had hope that maybe if he went with them after a victorious sophomore year making Varsity and actually having decent grades and a reputation at school built on charm and being a good little Harrington heir his parents would actually act like they care. What happens is he ends up being dragged along to and shown off at boring dinner parties but is otherwise left alone and unsupervised. He stumbles across a music store where he is obviously out of place but the music playing is loud and angry and matches the knot filling up his chest. So he spends most of the trip exploring the city with this group of people who recognize the anger in him and aren't the type to gatekeep cause what's more punk than finding your own path? Even if it's not the same as theirs he still deserves the space to find out.

And yeah he seems more the 'infiltrate and dismantle' type than the 'throw a flaming brick' type but the spirit is there.

So he learns to coiff his hair and make it big but not so much his mom would kill him. He learns to wear pants and style his shirts so they accentuate his form not make him look soft and respectable and to accessorize in small ways that are obvious to those who are observant enough to look and to those who know what to look for but still not be so showy his parents will get on him for anything. He gets a bunch of tapes and spends time making mixtapes of his favorites and buys a walkman so he can listen to his music without his parents hearing. He learns how to discreetly add a bit of blush and natural tinted mascara and tinted chapstick cause he learns he likes makeup but that sort of thing would cause problems in a place like Hawkins. He builds a greater tolerance with these people he's come to trust and learns you can actually enjoy getting drunk when it's just being stupid with some friends and not meant to make a statement. And before he has to go home he's gifted a bottle of sheer pink nail polish that makes his nails look healthy and taken care of and natural but he'll know and that's all that matters.

Steve goes back to Hawkins a little different, a little meaner, a little looser and more self-assured. Steve goes back to Hawkins and notices Nancy Wheeler. The perfect prissy princess with an edge that intrigued him even if he saw it by accident. And he spends the entire time he woos and subsequently dates her trying to bring that out, that bit of steel and fire that still really worked with her soft hyper femme aesthetic. And he falls head over heels for this girl who is soft but resilient and polite but opinionated and who obviously wants MORE and he wants to give it to her.

But then Will Byers goes missing, followed by Barb and Nancy is showing her steel but at the side of Jonathan Byers as his parents leave messages extending their trip and leaving forwarding numbers that he knows won't work when he really needs them. And he breaks the camera and that makes him feel like he's falling back into who he was before the music and the summer away from this small town. They fight in an alley after he says things he doesn't believe but knows would hurt because he couldn't get the clawing in his chest to just go away. And he takes the beating because he knows he was wrong and he remembers the scared looks people gave him that one time he got into a bar fight he doesn't actually remember but knows he won with a guy who wouldn't take a no from one of the girls in the group Steve was drinking with.

So he takes the beating and doesn't press charges and goes to apologize after dumping Tommy and Carol and comes face to face with something from his worst nightmares. He goes back after running away because he can't leave them there. He picks up a bat with nails run through it and lets loose the thing clawing in his chest. He keeps himself between the monster and the others and he keeps them safe. Will comes home. Barb doesn't.

He goes to Indianapolis for a new camera for Jonathan and comes back with more angry music. He keeps making trips and comes back with the sides of his hair shaved in not quite a Mohawk but close and a tattoo or two in places he can hide easily and a heavy leather jacket. The changes make the pacing thing in his chest quiet some and he wears a smile around Nancy and the Hollands and he walks tall through the hallways of Hawkins High his senior year.

Tommy Hagan tries to say he went bitch for Nancy Wheeler since he doesn't sleep around anymore or take his frustrations out on those weaker and less fortunate than him and he tries to say Steve is joining the freaks like Munson and his nerds but even they won't have him. Tommy Hagan and some others try to jump Steve in an empty hallway after school and before practice to "teach the dethroned King a lesson", because if Byers could leave him a bloody mess then he was never that tough. The others sport bruises and split lips and bruised egos. Tommy Hagan had a broken nose and bruised ribs and a look of fear when he's within 10 feet of his former best friend.

Steve Harrington has no throne and no court but he still undeniably wears the crown.

High school reunion (long, but this is the entire last bit I wrote for it)

Chrissy jerked upright.

"Oh my gosh," she said, wide eyes trained on something behind Eddie and Jeff.

They turned just in time to see Steve Harrington walk in, fashionably late, with a beautiful woman on his arm.

Contrasting the majority of their once-popular peers, Steve wasn't looking washed up or miserable – he looked as amazing as he had in his youth. That fact filled Eddie with as much ire as it did relief. Like most of the men, Steve was wearing informal attire, but he wore it better, the silver suit and indigo shirt fitting his body so well they had to be bespoke. The way he carried himself had evolved from obnoxious cocksureness to poised and mature confidence. And, of course, the hair.

It was shameful, but Eddie stared. Fortunately, he wasn't the only one – everyone stole at least a glance of their former ruler. Yes, even ten years later, King Steve was the center of the room. He seemed to barely notice it, too preoccupied by his companion. She was almost as tall as he, and the cut of her emerald jumpsuit elongated her legs while her pixie cut displayed an elegant neck. They resembled a pair of super models.

"What's he doing here?" Jeff murmured. "He didn't graduate with us."

"I think his… wife? I think she did," Chrissy said. "I recognize her."

"She's the girl he drove to school every day the year after he graduated," Eddie said.

Chrissy gasped.

"That's right!" she hissed excitedly, thankfully not questioning why the fuck Eddie knew that (he still cringed at himself). "She was in band? What was her name… Roxy? Roslyn?" She frowned and shook her head. "Anyway, everyone was gossiping about them."

"Everyone?"

Chrissy awarded him the kindest eyeroll of his life. "Everyone in my circle. No one knew what their deal was – they seemed close, but he dated other people and she didn't date at all. It started after he and Nancy broke up, and… I guess she was waiting for him to notice her like that." Her gaze followed them as they made their way forth, making pleasantries with the brave souls who dared to approach them. "Seems like she got him in the end."

Chrissy sighed dreamily, like it was the height of romance. Eddie was inclined to agree. After being dumped and nearly dethroned, the most handsome boy in town befriended this ugly duckling who helped nurse his wounds and his heart. Staying by his side, a loyal friend even when he courted others. Quietly hoping he would open his eyes to what was in front of him all along. And at last, her patience was rewarded, and he realized it was her he wanted.

A clichéd, juvenile, teenage dream. A fucking fairytale. But a romantic one.

"They're a good fit, aren't they?" Chrissy mused.

"You think?" Jeff said.

"Yeah. He's always been gorgeous and she's stunning." She rested her chin on her palm, drifting away with a smile. "She looks kinda tough. I bet they're a total power couple."

5. Do you respond to comments? I try to! I'm just really fucking bad at responding to compliments/kind words. I just freeze up & don't know what to say a lot of the time so it can take a lot of energy to write out a very mid response to a lovely comment 😔 but I do try.

6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Err...that's between Left Behind and Candy Apples & Razor Blades. The former is a ficlet/minific and it's just sorta sad. The latter has an angstier ending depending on how you interpret it, it's a little ambiguous in my mind but I don't think everybody even reads it as ambiguous so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (unless we're counting the unpublished alternate ending I have written for Freak Doesn't Cut It because THEN IT'S THAT- but I'd only maybe publish that after the actual ending & I'm really fucking stuck with that fic so that's ages away if it ever gets posted)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Probably Infinitesimally small and unforgivably burdensome. It's just pretty light overall. Altho I want to at least mention that I think Does it get better? ultimately ending on hope and healing is also a very happy ending in my book 🖤

8. Do you get hate on fics? Haven't so far, but maybe someday lol (hopefully not soon tho)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? No, not really. Vaguely heated make-out is as far as I tend to go.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I do, I've only really written Metal Lords/Stranger Things so I guess the "craziest" one would be Metal Things purely because of the crossover pairing nobody asked for (Hunter Sylvester x Steve Harrington.) But none of it's very crazy.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware of and I kinda doubt anyone would want to lol (If someone ever did it's on sight tho 🔪)

12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? No, and I honestly don't think that would work for me.

13. What’s your all time favourite ship? I'm not 100% sure, it's either Steddie or Spuffy. (I don't think I would ever write about the latter tho)

14. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I'm far too stubborn to accept defeat like that. I have a lot of WIPs that feel like behemoths to me but I'm going to finish them.

15. What are your writing strengths? UHM...I'm really not good at being positive about myself but I guesss I think in my opinion I'm decent at capturing the character's voices????????? maybe

16. What are your writing weaknesses? I think I sometimes over-assume that people will understand my intention behind a scene. Also if there's too many characters I can't keep track of them anymore. And the fact that I dropped out of school at 14/15 occasionally becomes an issue. Having learned English almost entirely on feeling/by osmosis and thus not always knowing the actual rules. Of...yaknow...grammar.

17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'd shy away from it if I didn't speak the language fluently and I can't think of a reason I would ever want to involve my native language in a fic. Besides that I only speak English so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

18. First fandom you wrote for? Publicly it's Metal Lords/Stranger Things. Privately it's actually the infamous [REDACTED]

19. Favourite fic you’ve written? It HAS to be Does it get better? DIGB was my baby for the better part of this past year and it contains a lot of my favorite headcanons about the featured characters. Some examples: - FtM Hunter Sylvester - Eddie Munson gives the BEST hugs - Hunter is a walking ball of anxiety (altho that is practically canon)

As well as a lot of moments/scenes that I hold very very dear. Some examples: - Kev & Hunter laying on Hunter's bed and just talking in ch5 - Eddie helping Drunk!Hunter take his jewelry & shoes off and just talking to him in ch8 (altho I could just list ch8 as a whole tbh) - The entirety of ch3 basically lmao

There's stuff I can and do criticize about DIGB in retrospect but ultimately it's still very precious to me.

My Steve/Nancy/Jonathan Twitter not-fic, cleaned up and posted to AO3!

Really, the only way I see those three getting together is that Nancy does it.

Here is the first possible scenario: after season 2, Steve stops giving a fuck what people think of him. He takes a leaf from the kids' book and opens the curiosity doors, i.e. finds some dudes in town – or maybe in the next town over, because old habits die hard - to make out with.

Concurrently, Nancy and Jonathan are dating and she’s slowly working on him, until he lets out that UGH, he fucking hates to admit it but the assholes at school were RIGHT - he does want to suck dick. But not like, *instead* of being with her, he scrambles to add. Obviously he wants her, but maybe he always thought once he was at NYU he would experiment a bit? Everyone does it, right? It would be totally harmless, it’s probably just… a phase, or something.

So Nancy says, as casual as she can, "So, are you... bi?" and Jonathan plays it down because he's with her so like, who cares about that now, right? It's not important, he swears. It’s not like he *needs* it. He’s very satisfied being with her, and she’s all he needs, because she’s fucking amazing, and the rest of the conversation gets derailed because she can’t resist him when he looks at her like this, so much open worship on his face, and she just has to reach for him and have him right then. But she keeps it in mind, and when she next has a chat with Steve and he comes out to her... she starts Thinking.

Steve coming up with nicknames for Billy, that all have sun in them.

Billy’s face is in a patch of sunlight streaming in from the window, curls shining brightly and freckles popping, with the way the light catches his skin. Billy could get away if he wanted to, but he is warm and content as Steve stares down at him and repeats the pet name again. Billy's stomach goes gooey when Steve tells him why he chose that name.

“You're my own personal source of warmth and light.” Steve tells him before leaning down and rubbing their noses together. Billy quickly takes advantage and pulls Steve down till their skin is flush hugging him tightly. If Steve were ever rude enough to bring it up Billy would deny that his eyes are wet.

So new prompt idea. Pirates of the Caribbean mixed with princess bride! Baby omega Steve finds billy after his boat is ship wreaked stealing his father’s necklace to protect him. Of course they grow up completely in love but Steve’s an high born omega and isn’t allowed to be seen let alone mate with an alpha of no standing. So on the day Steve finds out he’s promised to another he gives billy his necklace back and sends him away. Which of course billy goes out conquers his destiny and comes back

So here is half of this notfic and I'll get the rest up later once I finish writing it out. Like for a fic I'm never going to write it is getting out of hand. It's also inspired by that post about Buttercup hiring Vizzini to kidnap her and the Carol/Heather/Robin bits are inspired by the keg_boys chat.

Billy doesn't actually remember how he got to this little portal town, and he does not really care all that much about his past. The only thing Billy knows for sure is that Steve has always been his focus. The first thing he actually remembers is blinking awake and spitting out saltwater under the watchful stare of big brown bambi eyes.

They had been inseparable despite Billy's low standing until Steve presented as an omega and Billy an alpha. Then the only time Billy got to see more than a fleeting glance at Steve was when Steve snuck out or Billy snuck up to his window to keep him company when he got in trouble yet again for sneaking out.

Billy has been in love with Steve since their first meeting and he wishes nothing more than to court him. Billy isn not stupid though, knows the Harrington expect Steve to marry within if not higher than his station. That doesn't mean he is not upset when he learns of Steve's engagement.

Billy just needs to see Steve one last time before he gets shipped off to his future spouse. Not for anything romantic but because that's his best friend and he doesn't know when he will see him again at least that's what he tells himself. Only when he finds Steve weeping Billy asks him to run away with him instead.

Steve can not do that though, his parents are terribly in debt, he does not have a choice but to go through with it. His father has made it very clear what will happen if he does not follow through, and Steve is not the only one in the path of danger. Mr. Harrington is well aware of his enamored Steve is with Billy. But Steve doesn't tell Billy any of that just simply says he can't and Billy misconstrues it as being about his low station.

So Billy vows to go out into the world and make a fortune, Stevedowntown be married right away, not for a year after he finally meets his betrothed. Before he leaves Steve gives him the necklace he snatched from Billy's neck when they were children. The necklace that marked him as a pirate, that would have meant death despite his young age, traveling the ocean is dangerous though pirate activity at an all time high it might come in handy.

It does come in handy, saves his life when the ship he is traveling on gets attacked. Billy is protecting a young girl, a stow away he's been sneaking food to, from a bearish man when the cord around his neck is slashed and the coin rolls out. There is a lot of shouting and in fighting and Billy is not sure how it ends up with him and Max tucked away in the brig of the pirate ship.

This is how Billy finds his mom who looked for him but could not find him after his father took him and left with a group of pirates that she banished them. She is some very infamous pirate, well one of them with an entire armada of ships under her sail. Billy is her heir now that he is back and she shows him the ropes and Billy thrives as a pirate.

Billy hears of Steve's failing engagement, that the Duke or whomever he was to marry had run off before they could be married. Billy thinks about returning but he hasn't yet made a name for himself, when he is not pirating he opens a shop in a small blacksmith shop and it thrives and Billy starts building a reputable name for himself. One year turns to two, too three, then suddenly fix years have past and Billy still does not think he is worthy of Steve but he hears of his engagement to prince Tommy. Billy remembers him and not foundly, he always looked down on Billy and was always cruel to Steve. Billy forms a plan to go back.

Steve does not want to marry Tommy cannot stand him, doesn't like the way the man treats him and it has only gotten worse as they have gotten older. Once again Steve doesn't have a choice, even if he is the only one in danger this time, and he would refuse this time but Billy's ship was attacked by pirates and he has given up hope that somehow he survived, it has been five years. It does not mean Steve wants this though so he hires a group to kidnap him so he can escape his fate.

Which is where an old childhood friend Carol who cannot stand Tommy anymore and her two girlfriends come in. They grab Steve while he is out riding leaving a trail to point them in a direction that goes nowhere.

They are on a ship heading to their destination, a place Steve can be free of his father's demands, where he can make a home when they notice a ship following them. Any changes they make the boat follows and worry sets in, that maybe someone saw them, that maybe Steve will not be able to get free of his fathers plans.

Robin is the only one really worried other than Steve. They are half way up the cliff when the boat reaches theirs and then a single figure is steadily climbing after them. As soon as they reach the top Robin cuts the rope, and the man keeps climbing. Carol remains at the top of the cliff waiting while the rest of them head towards their escape.

Carol is totally impatient to get things moving and offers rope to Billy. They converse while Billy catches his breath. Carol asks him about his fingers, because she had been looking for the six fingered man who killed her first love, Billy has five fingers on both hands. The sword fight, have witty banter and Billy manages to knock Carol out.

Then he runs into Heather who is waiting for him ready to slow him down. Billy is surprised by her strength, and her determination to not harm him to. badly. He manages to best her as well. And knock her unconscious, getting him one step closer to his goal.

Robin watches as Billy best both of her girlfriends but leaves them merely unconscious. She blind folds and ties Steve's hands for show and decides to challenge their foe to a game of wits. The masked man ups the auntie.

Billy finds Steve on top of a hill next to a third woman, who will not stop talking. He banters with her on auto pilot, focused more on drinking Steve in, a little older but no less attractive. His scent is sad like he has been mourning for a long time and Billy hates it, finds it terribly distracting.

Finally Billy challenges Robin to drink poison. It is not actually poison, just a powder that will put most into a deep sleep. Billy has been working with it for several years as part of his pirate person although and has built up a great tolerance.

Steve uses his tied hands to rip the blind fold from his face when Robin chooses her cup. Steve knocking the cup out of Robin's hand, because his escape is not worth her life. "This isn't worth it, i"ll go back, Tommy can have me, I didn't mean for anyone to get hurt."

Billy is confused but angry at the same time because he just cannot understand why Steve would go back to Tommy, why he ever said yes. Has a handful of powder waiting in case something went wrong with the drink. Blows it in Robin's face, knocking her out and grabs Steve dragging him away from the perceived danger.

Billy starts going on about how could he wish to marry someone like Tommy, was there no one better, no one Steve loved, or is he just incapable of love and looking for the rise of position. Disappointed and a little angry that Stvee doesn't recognize him immediately by scent. Steve can't smell anything past his own grief though and goes on an angry tirade about the love he lost, the only man he's ever loved, how Tommy is not his choice that he was forced into it, pushing at Billy in an effort to get away from him.

Billy saying something memorable that he always said to Steve before or just using a nickname because Billy always refused to use Steve's first name. When they were around other people it was always Harrington, and when they were alone always pet names, pretty boy, princess, bambi. It is then that Steve knows it is Billy, his Billy, and he goes tumbling down the hill after him.

They are reunited a little omg you lived kissing followed by Steve furiously demanding to know where Billy has been for the last five years and angry over Billy killing Robin. Billy reveals that all of the women who he finds out were helping Steve escape a life he does not want are alive merely knocked out, no permanent damage. He drags Steve into the (I can't remember the forest name right now) when he sees that men are up on the ridge holding banners to indicate they are with Tommy.

Billy explains what he has been up to the last five years. While dodging demodogs and sand pits, and other dangers that leek in the forest. That he waited to come back to Steve Steve ehe didn't feel like he was good enough. Steve telling him how he was hoping Billy would come back to him and then mourning his loss when he thought Billy was dead. Billy telling Steve the only reason he is alive is the coin, slipping it around Steve's neck just before they slip out of the forest,

Tommy and his men are there waiting to ambush them, he promises Billy safe return to his ship if Steve will come with him. Of course Steve agrees and of course Tommy has no intention of ever returning Billy. He takes Steve and leaves, and Billy gets carted off to a secret torture chamber.

Tommy is still a dick though and angry over having to go chase Steve down. Ends up shoving him in the water before they take a boat home out of petty revenge. Que cursed coin entering the water. They make it back home before storm clouds roll in and suddenly the town is being attacked.
