The rain hitting your window was enough to lull you to sleep a couple of hours ago. It was a Friday night and you finally got to rest after a hectic week of projects, papers and exams. That was until you began tossing and turning. The nightmares that plagued you started to become too much and you could barely sleep these days. Its nothing you are not used to. Being an ex-Avenger and all. But after all the shit you and your roommate turned best friend went through last month, shit was tough. The Fishman Namor was out to kill her. You got kidnapped and taken to an underwater kingdom. You helped Wakanda fight. So much had happened and you couldn't shake the thoughts of all the what ifs running through your mind. The nightmare was an occurring one. He had gotten his wish. When he attacked the throne room the queen died but so did she. You woke up in a silent sob as you did for the past week and sat in your bed for a couple of minutes, watching her. She slept peacefully and you let a small smile appear on your lips before quietly throwing on some clothes and pulling your braids through the back of your cap. As you went for the door you heard her shuffle and turned to see her looking up at you.

"Girl it's, 12:30. Where the hell are you going?" She questioned and you grabbed a notebook and your umbrella.

"Library's open till 3. Go back to sleep, I'll be back." You shut the door before she had a chance to say anything else and made your way to the library. It was usually quiet and the place you went to in order to clear your head. Finding an empty table you let out a long sigh with your head in your hands. You wouldn't have this problem if Shuri didn't help you realize your feelings for Riri.

You watched her as she worked on her Ironheart suit and found yourself in a trance. She worked intensively with "Alone" by Burna Boy playing in her airpods as you prepared the weapons you were going to have on your person. The Avenger in you refused to back down from this fight. You had found a friend in Riri when the two of you met freshman year. She was a genius and you were a book nerd. A year after knowing her, you confided to her that you used to be an Avenger. Trained under Natasha and Steve, more so Black Widow and Captain America. The two have since passed but you remember the skills they passed onto you while under their teachings. She still accepted you and you vowed to rough up anyone who gave her problems. You felt a light tap on your shoulder and turned to see the princess. She gave you a small smile before looking at your weapon and suit designs.

"That looks brilliant. Are you sure she's the only genius between you two?" She laughed and you gave a soft chuckle.

"She's the brains, I'm the brawn." You told her and she looked over at the girl.

"She's the reason you're fighting right? To protect her." She said as you added the finishing touch to your suit. "Yeah I guess you can say that."

"So when are you going to tell her about your feelings for her?" She continued and you froze. Had you been that obvious? Your eyes found the princesses curious orbs and you let a laugh leave you. "It wasn't that hard to see. Even for an ex-avenger, you've slipped up a couple of times.

"Never. She's better off not knowing." You replied and she sat down next to you. "I'm an ex-Avenger. I have enemies out there and I can't risk her getting hurt." You looked down at your designs as if there was something else to be done. Just to get out of this conversation.

"And yet she's going into a fight with a mutant merman who wants to kill her." She laughed and your shoulders shook as you couldn't hide your own laughter.

"You're right. But I'll keep my secret until the time is right." You mumbled and she nodded.

You didn't even know you had let a tear roll down your cheek as the memory played in your head, clear as day. A hand landed on your shoulder and you turned to see Riri standing next to you with concern on her face. You couldn't even take the time to wipe your face as she pulled a chair next to you and did it for you.

"What's got you all upset ma?" She asked and you opened your mouth to speak but no words came out. You were really trying to hold it together and Riri could see that written all over your face. She grabbed the back of your head, bringing you to hide in the crook of her neck breaking the dam. You silently cried into her shoulder and she rubbed your back with her other hand. She held you until you stopped shaking and your sobs turned into small sniffles. She slowly pulled you up before swiping her thumbs under your eyes. "Talk to me Y/N."

"I've been having nightmares. They all end the same, I lost you. After the whole Namor thing, I just. I can't help but think he's still got it out for you. It scared me when you were in danger and it still scares me now." You mumbled not meeting her gaze and she remained silent. Urging you to continue before you took a deep breath. "So many what ifs running through my head and I can't get it to stop. If something happens to you, I won't be able to forgive myself. Ex-Avenger or not, I still care about you." You cautiously glanced up to meet her eyes and she leaned a bit closer.

"Yeah I know I should be used to stuff like this. But it is different because it's you and I care about you and your safety. You're this amazing person who doesn't nothing but help people and I love that about you." The word slipped out before you could stop yourself and you suddenly felt the need to go hide under your sheets. She noticed your sudden nervousness before grabbing your face to make you look at her.

"I love you too idiot." She announced and you could practically hear your heartbeat in your ears. "I'll admit I was scared too. Not just because I was basically on this guy's hit list. But because you followed me. Blindly." You felt all of your worries melt away when she brought you in for a tight hug. You wrapped your arms around her and shut your eyes. The weight of doubt lifted off your chest and you placed a single kiss on her temple. You pulled back and her eyes flickered to your lips. You slowly leaned in to kiss her before a voice stopped you. You could practically feel her breath on your bottom lip but turned to see the librarian.

"Sorry to interrupt ladies but the library is closed for the night. Head back to your dorms." She told us with a bright smile and you felt your cheeks heat up. Riri grabbed your hand before grabbing your umbrellas.

"Come on. Let's head back. We can watch a movie until we crash." She grinned and you felt her intertwining your fingers.

"Okay." You probably had the biggest smile on your face as you left the library.

El Hijo del Fishman vs. Mascara Sagrada

This was the bloody lucha feud du jour this year, with six singles matches (that I'm aware of) throughout Mexico. There is a long history about the generational feud between El Fishman and Mascara Sagrada that provides the context for this year's feud, and there is a long story about how the actual son of El Fishman is feuding with men who may be Mascara Sagrada's actual son or someone who has rented the Mascara Sagrada mask and gimmick.

Either way, I was compelled to check out what these brawls amounted to, and I wondered how they could keep a touring match like this fresh through its various iterations.

I. El Hijo del Fishman vs. Mascara Sagrada NG, Promotora Riba desde CeCuCo, March 22, 2024

We start the feud with a bang in this Bull Terrier match, the lucha variant of the dog collar match. An enraged Fishman takes inspiration from the Michael Jordan banner (Jordan, infamous for punching out teammate Steve Kerr during a practice) hanging in Auditorio CECUCO and punches out the referee immediately, which causes him to bleed and to be stretchered out of the match. The cameraman gives us a good look at the battered referee, who looks alternately vaguely upset and embarrassed that Fishman has taken out of the match. Fishman goes after Sagrada's mask from the start and bloodies him not long after; the sight of someone peering through a tear in their mask works in everything from RoboCop to Spider-Man to lucha libre brawls in a brightly lit gymnasium while screaming children run around and photograph the carnage. Fishman and Sagrada NG have a wild brawl through the crowd, highlighted by a Death Valley Driver through some ringside chairs. The match gets muddled in lack of apparent logic from there, as Fishman runs at Sagrada NG and gets hip tossed into ringside chairs for some reason and the replacement referee stops Sagrada NG from touching all four top turnbuckles in the ring to win the match for some reason. Sagrada NG rightfully decks the referee himself, which allowed Fishman to recover, incapacitate Sagrada NG with a spear, and touch all four turnbuckles to win the match.

The match was better when it focused on the violence and unexplained animosity between the two and not on the mechanics of the match's stipulation or unexplained plot elements. This match is free to view on YouTube.

II. El Hijo del Fishman vs. Mascara Sagrada, IWRG, May 19, 2024

This is for the IWRG Junior de Juniors title, and the two men are fighting for a title that symbolizes their heritage, legitimate or not. We've moved from a gymnasium to Arena Naucalpan, and some of the magic gets lost in the translation. This time, Sagrada tears Fishman's mask first, though Fishman returns the favor. The brawl through the crowd seems slower and more plodding this time, and both men play to the crowd more, which leads to a slower match. There isn't a singularly astounding moment like the referee battering in the earlier match; that said, Sagrada and Fishman trading Death Valley Drivers over the guardrail into ringside seating comes close. The blood slowly blooming on Sagrada's white mask made for a great visual until Fishman tore Sagrada's mask nearly off his head. The camera doesn't quite capture the impact of Sagrada's dive off the staircase to Fishman on the concrete floor; there's just a lot more walking to and from ringside in this match, which slows the pace. We turn back to a higher gear when the match returns to the ring, as Fishman and Sagrada try big moves like a spear, a headscissors off the top, a package piledriver, flipping piledrivers, and various submission moves to no avail. Fishman almost messes up setting up his submission move, but he's able to sort it out and force Sagrada to submit in the middle of the ring.

I preferred the Bull Terrier match, which had a wilder, more uncontrolled atmosphere. The walking around ringside really hurt this match, and the big bombs in the ring just felt like a collection of moves. This match is free to view on IWRG's YouTube page.

III. El Hijo del Fishman vs. El Hijo de Mascara Sagrada, Super X, August 24, 2024

We've moved from an arena to a shopping center, Zentralia Churubusco, for this entry into their feud. And since Yakult is the sponsor for this show's ring, they get to have two mascots ringside.

Also, there's no ringside barrier, so any crowd-brawling would put Fishman and Sagrada right next to the Yakult mascots and the large number of children in attendance. Unfortunately, the Yakult mascots bailed before Fishman and Sagrada start brawling in the crowd. This is a much looser atmosphere, so the action is a little wackier. We see Fishman and Sagrada ram each other with a shopping cart, and Fishman teases leaving the match altogether, presumably to go shop at the nearby Astro Biker store. We see Fishman abuse the referee, which turns the referee to Fishman's side enough that he's willing to restrain Sagrada for a failed Fishman running dropkick. (Sagrada chops the referee later in the match in retaliation.) We see Fishman successfully unmask Sagrada, though neither man tears the other's this time. We see Fishman whip Sagrada (and the referee) with Sagrada's own belt, a Fishman spear, and a Fishman package piledriver, all echoes from their previous match. All in all, the match feels more light-hearted than the previous match, almost a Flanderized version of their earlier bouts. This match is free to view on YouTube.

As an aside, I was bewildered to see Jack Evans on this show. I know he has been working primarily in lucha companies for a while, but I was still caught off guard seeing him wrestling in a mall.

IV. El Hijo del Fishman vs. El Hijo del Mascara Sagrada, Arena del Valle Lucha Libre, December 1, 2024

After taking so much abuse from Fishman throughout this feud, Sagrada starts this match fast with a tope suicida on Fishman during Fishman's entrance. There's no ringside barricade, so Sagrada literally throws Fishman into fans' laps around the ring. This crowd in this warehouse is primarily young adults, unlike the match in the mall in front of the Yakult mascots, so the match is pitched at a more violent frequency. We hit some of the bits of the routine: the dueling Death Valley Driver into ringside chairs, Fishman tearing at Sagrada's mask, Sagrada bleeding, and both Fishman and Sagrada assaulting the referee. (This time, Fishman gives the referee a pretty powerslam, and Sagrada pounds on the referee for preventing him from whipping Fishman with his belt. This referee gamely continues, selling his injury through the end of the match.) We even see the package piledriver and the flipping piledriver. Most importantly, we see the mat drenched in both men's blood, a fitting tribute to their feud.

Polyphia’s Journey as a band

I created this blog to show where one of my favorite bands started and where their talents guide them to greater heights.

Polyphia

Polyphia is a primarily instrumental band based in Texas, the band formed way back in 2010. The group consists of guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage with bassist Clay Gober and drummer Brandon Bulkhalter.

Polyphia’s main focused on music was incorporating virtuosic guitar parts with other styles of music. The band’s early releases are initially rooted in a metal-focused tone, the band’s music evolved to a progressive rock sound in their later productions with the combination of electronic music and hip-hop. Polyphia has released four albums and two EPs and other singles. Their latest album, Remember That You Will Die was released last year 22nd of October, it was first to chart, debuting at number 33 on the Billboard 200.

The band achieved their first success after the guitar playthrough of their song “Impassion”, this song was from their EP Inspire after being viral on youtube. After that the band’s popularity has grown and they share stages together with other metalcore bands like Periphery, ISSUES, August Burns Red and many more.

As time goes by they develop their genre into a whole new sounding type of music, they broke out from their shell from creating metal and rock tones and started creating music that is more leaning on pop and rap music (trap, EDM, etc.).

Polyphia’s album New Levels New Devils and their EP The Most Hated are the best example of where their music has evolved. They start creating a more catchy type yet very technical kind of music, And with that they started getting more collaborations with several known artists and musicians like Ichika Nito, Yvette Young, Mateus Asato, CHON and Cuco.

In 22nd of September, Polyphia released the single “Ego Death”, the fourth song from their latest album Remember That You Will Die. The release was accompanied by a video which features the guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. The latest album includes more collaborations than their previous ones.

In the year 2016 their drummer Brandon Bulkhalter decided to part ways with his beloved band mates, due to the fact that everyone else in the band, wanted to go for a less, over the top, speedy, shred sound to a more melodic, slightly softer sound. The band’s new drummer Clay Aeschliman fill the position.

Polyphia uses gears from Ibanez which lead them to their success as the brand’s endorsers, not just Ibanez but also brands like DiMarzio, Fishman, Meinl and TAMA drums

The Band’s name comes from the word “Polyphony”, meaning “music whose texture is defined by the interweaving of several melodic lines”.

"Never. She's better off not knowing." You replied and she sat down next to you. "I'm an ex-Avenger. I have enemies out there and I can't risk her getting hurt." You looked down at your designs as if there was something else to be done. Just to get out of this conversation. 

"And yet she's going into a fight with a mutant merman who wants to kill her." She laughed and your shoulders shook as you couldn't hide your own laughter. 

"You're right. But I'll keep my secret until the time is right." You mumbled and she nodded.

You didn't even know you had let a tear roll down your cheek as the memory played in your head, clear as day. A hand landed on your shoulder and you turned to see Riri standing next to you with concern on her face. You couldn't even take the time to wipe your face as she pulled a chair next to you and did it for you.

"What's got you all upset ma?" She asked and you opened your mouth to speak but no words came out. You were really trying to hold it together and Riri could see that written all over your face. She grabbed the back of your head, bringing you to hide in the crook of her neck breaking the dam. She silently cried into her shoulder and she rubbed your back with her other hand. She held you until you stopped shaking and your sobs turned into small sniffles. She slowly pulled you up before swiping her thumbs under your eyes. "Talk to me Y/N."

"I've been having nightmares. They all end the same, I lost you. After the whole Namor thing, I just. I can't help but think he's still got it out for you. It scared me when you were in danger and it still scares me now." You mumbled not meeting her gaze and she remained silent. Urging you to continue before you took a deep breath. "So many what ifs running through my head and I can't get it to stop. If something happens to you, I won't be able to forgive myself. Ex-Avenger or not, I still care about you." You cautiously glanced up to meet her eyes and she leaned a bit closer. 

"Yeah I know I should be used to stuff like this. But it is different because it's you and I care about you and your safety. You're this amazing person who doesn't nothing but help people and I love that about you." The word slipped out before you could stop yourself and you suddenly felt the need to go hide under your sheets. She noticed your sudden nervousness before grabbing your face to make you look at her.

"I love you too idiot." She announced and you could practically hear your heartbeat in your ears. "I'll admit I was scared too. Not just because I was basically on this guy's hit list. But because you followed me. Blindly." You felt all of your worries melt away when she brought you in for a tight hug. You wrapped your arms around her and shut your eyes. The weight of doubt lifted off your chest and you placed a single kiss on her temple. You pulled back and her eyes flickered to your lips. You slowly leaned in to kiss her before a voice stopped you. You could practically feel her breath on your bottom lip but turned to see the librarian. 

"Sorry to interrupt ladies but the library is closed for the night. Head back to your dorms." She told us with a bright smile and you felt your cheeks heat up. Riri grabbed your hand before grabbing your umbrellas. 

"Come on. Let's head back. We can watch a movie until we crash." She grinned and you felt her intertwining your fingers.

"Okay." You probably had the biggest smile on your face as you left the library.

Roleplaying Races 12: Sahuagin

 We’ve touched on more benevolent fish-man races before on the blog, such as the locathah, but now it is time to cover one of their more vicious counterparts.

To be clear, vaguely Deep One-esque fishmen, many inspired by the classic Creature from the Black Lagoon, are a dime a dozen in fantasy rpgs. Hell, D&D had locathah, kuo-toa, skum, and today’s subject, the sahuagin, to name just a few, each one having a different flavor of fishman, ranging from sympathetic in the former case, directly Lovecraftian ripoffs with the kuo-toa and skum, and fierce predators in the latter case.

As it stands, the Pathfinder sahuagin are said to be a swift and warlike race that view all other oceanic life as either predator or prey, with the exception of sharks, which they share a deep kinship with. With that though in mind, one might assume that sahuagin are shark-men, but most art of them draws inspiration from other predatory fish outside of the clade selachimorpha.

Sahuagin as a figure in rpgs have writer Steve Marsh, who created them before joining TSR, to thank for their existence, citing an episode of The Justice League cartoon in the 70’s and Aztec architecture and clothing designs to from their aesthetic.

In any case, not much has changed about sahuagin since those days, as they are a classic brutish and violent “monster” race, albeit one suitable for aquatic and seafaring campaigns. That being said, I would love to see what a writer could do with fleshing out the culture of these so-called devilfish. Might they not be more than just a one-note species of baddies?

Another key trait of sahuagin-kind is that they are heavily prone to mutation, ranging from four arms to spines to being sightless predators to being large and powerful. The strangest mutation of all are the malenti, which are sahuagin that look exactly like aquatic elves save for their predatory sharp teeth, making them lethal infiltrators of their elven rivals.

Aside from their mutations, sahuagin appear to be tall, green-scaled aquatic humanoids with finned hands and feet, as well as powerful tails. Most art depicts them as somewhat hunched with forward-set necks and heads. Their heads themselves resemble predatory fish, particularly barracuda, though some are depicted as having catfish-like barbels near their mouths.

As mentioned above, sahuagin tend to view others as either predator or prey, (usually the latter unless they utterly outclass the sahuagin in question). This is likely born out of a harsh environment, suggesting an origin in a region of the sea with fierce and deadly predators both mundane and supernatural. Perhaps they were created as warriors for the aboleths, or they had a kraken living on their doorstep, or they have been at war with iku-tursos and the like. It’s abundantly clear that they value strength first and foremost. However, that does not mean that their society cannot have variance or change, as made clear by the settlement of Outsea, an artificial saltwater body found in the River Kingdoms, where a group of sahuagin invaders and the merfolk that came to stop them became stranded, and banded together, their communalism softening the bloodthirsty edge from what it once was.

 Sahuagin are strong and cunning, but they care little for social niceties.

In addition to their night vision, they possess the same electrosensors as a shark, letting them sense prey even if they cannot see them. However, their night-eyes are sensitive to bright light.

Their scales are also quite thick, making them quite durable.

While they can match most terrestrial beings on land, their real speed comes in the water.

They also sport powerful biting jaws and slashing claws, making them always armed.

What’s more, pain causes them to fly into a frenzy, becoming even more vicious.

Finally, they have the supernatural ability to speak with sharks, communicating simple telepathic directives to them.

 Of course, not all sahuagin are the same. Outsea sahuagin in particular might instead channel their fervor into defense, rather than attack, and even have picked up on their merfolk neighbor’s talent for song. Also, consider working with your GM to create homebrew alternate racial traits to represent various common sahuagin mutations.

 With their strength and wisdom, sahuagin tend to favor martial and divine classes, making barbarian, fighter, cleric, oracle, ranger, and shaman natural fits for them. Those seeking an even stronger bond with an animal companion (usually a shark) might go for hunter as well. Unusual as it is to think of, their lawful nature also makes monk a surprisingly good choice for them, as their aquatic subtype lets them use their claws and unarmed strikes in the water with no penalties. Alchemist and transmuter wizard are also good for those seeking to emulate a character seeking to perfect and utilize various common mutations. Charisma classes are not anyone’s first pick, but bloodragers and sorcerers with thematic water and aquatic bloodlines might be appealing regardless.

Wrestle Kingdom 11 (April 2017)

Tiger Mask is the persona of several Japanese professional wrestlers. The persona was inspired by the title character in Ikki Kajiwara's and Naoki Tsuji's 1968 manga series, Tiger Mask about a professional wrestler who was a feared heel in the United States, but became a face after returning to Japan when a young boy said that he wanted to be a villain like Tiger Mask when he grew up.

In the early 1980s, the bookers in the New Japan Pro-Wrestling promotion licensed the character and created a real-life Tiger Mask, originally portrayed by Satoru Sayama, to help boost their junior heavyweight division. In the United States, Tiger Mask was the first wrestler to simultaneously hold the WWF Junior Heavyweight Championship and NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. Sayama played the role until 1983, when he left New Japan due to his hatred for the backstage politics of professional wrestling in general. As Tiger Mask, Sayama feuded with Kuniaki Kobayashi, Canada's Bret Hart, England's Chris Adams, Steve Wright and legendary Dynamite Kid, Mexico's Fishman and the original Black Tiger (see below).

In 1984, the rights to the Tiger Mask gimmick were bought by All Japan Pro Wrestling and given to Mitsuharu Misawa. Misawa also feuded with Dynamite Kid and Kuniaki Kobayashi, as well as Chavo Guerrero, Sr. and Atsushi Onita; he then moved up to the heavyweight division to feud, albeit unsuccessfully, with Jumbo Tsuruta and Genichiro Tenryu. In May 1990, after Tenryu left All Japan, Misawa gave up the mask in the middle of a match to wrestle as himself.

New Japan's Koji Kanemoto became the third Tiger Mask in March 1992, but was unsuccessful due to the dominance of Jyushin Thunder Liger. Kanemoto was never able to win a title as Tiger Mask, and eventually lost the mask in a mask-vs-mask match against Liger in January 1994.

Since 1995, the name Tiger Mask has been held by Yoshihiro Yamazaki, who was trained directly (and is officially endorsed) by Sayama. Tiger Mask IV, originally based at Michinoku Pro Wrestling, entered New Japan in 2002.

A fifth generation Tiger Mask, MMA fighter Ikuhisa Minowa, debuted on July 18, 2010 alongside the original Tiger Mask, Sayama, in a tag match for Maki Dojo.

In conjunction with the launch of the Tiger Mask W anime series, NJPW debuted Tiger Mask W on October 10, 2016, at King of Pro-Wrestling. This character was portrayed by Kota Ibushi and teamed with Tiger Mask IV in a match against Kazuchika Okada and Gedo.

In October 2018, Satoru Sayama announced the debut of Shinsetsu Tiger Mask, a student of his with Shinsetsu meaning "true teachings" in Japanese.

Sure, let’s get the wink-wink nudge-nudge out of the way first. Tiger Mask W is Kota Ibushi and Tiger The Dark is ACH. There, we exposed the business. Now can we just focus on how much fun this was, please?

This was pretty much everything I wanted it to be, aside from Yellow Devil running in and laying down the challenge to Tiger Mask for Invasion Attack. I don’t know if you’ve been keeping up with the Tiger Mask W anime, but New Japan went way further than they had to in the pursuit of making this feel like it was part of the show’s universe. For crying out loud, they got Haruna’s voice actress to introduce Tiger Mask in full Haruna cosplay. This is how Wrestle Kingdom STARTED, people.

Also, major props for making sure the Tiger The Dark’s moveset was authentic to the show. Both the Darkness Hold submission and the Darkness Driver tombstone were on display here, which is especially crazy when you consider that the Darkness Hold only debuted last episode and oh god I’ve become THAT fan. Still, if you know anything about ACH, this is probably his dream come true. “Please study this anime very carefully, because we need you to be the real life version of one of the characters.”

Tiger Mask is a Japanese manga series written by Ikki Kajiwara and illustrated by Naoki Tsuji. It was later adapted into an anime series by Toei Animation.

In the manga and anime, Tiger Mask was a feared heel wrestler in America who was extremely vicious in the ring. After returning to Japan, Tiger Mask joined the Japanese League headed by Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki (also Real Life wrestlers) who were then on the verge of kicking him out for his use of villainous techniques. Tiger Mask (whose real name was Naoto Date) was raised in an orphanage, and later joined Tiger's Cave (a criminal cartel whose main activity was to train young people to become Heel wrestlers) to become "Strong as a Tiger".

To save the orphanage where he was born and raised, he decided to go against the main rule of Tiger's Cave (all wrestlers must give 50% of their income to the organisation) and as such he was marked a "traitor" and other wrestlers from the Cave tried to kill him in the ring (while hired assassins tried to do the same outside of the ring).

When an orphan living in the same orphanage as Naoto started to take his heel persona as a life model, Tiger Mask decided to fight honestly in the ring, starting a series of confrontations that eventually brought him up against the Big Bad, the master of Tiger's Cave.

Most people outside Japan, though, only know Tiger Mask as a real professional wrestler from a fad in The '80s. While it only began as a homage and promotion to the fictional character, it grew into a popularity of its own, especially in the West, due to the memorable Dynamite Kid fights. Since then five wrestlers have adopted Tiger's identity: Satoru Sayama, Mitsuharu Misawa, Koji Kanemoto, Yoshihiro Yamazaki and Ikuhisa Minowa, in that order. (Before them, there was also Samson Kutsuwada in Korea, but that didn't spawn a continuous legacy.)

A sequel titled Tiger Mask W premiered in 2016.
