“C’mon, I promise! You’re gonna love it!” Giacomo assured as he walked next to Penny down the sidewalk. It was already getting dark at the hour, but that was no problem; where they were going, it would be well lit.

“Now that you’re not busy hiding in your room and being Big Boss Cassiopeia, we get to chill and hang out and do all sorts of fun things,” he began to ramble, occasionally stopping in his stride to kick a rock on the ground. Giacomo perked his head up, paused, and grabbed onto Penny’s sleeve.

“Yeah— this is it, we’re here,” he brought a hand up, pointed and jabbed his finger as a fluorescent sign, flashing in multiple colors. And a laugh punctuated Giacomo’s words!

“This is my favorite arcade! Bet I’ll kick your ass at Galaga!”

Why would being vague serve me in any way? This world is imperfect, and I intend to correct it. ❞

★ He lowered his glare from her to the floor. He became somewhat lost in thought, as if swimming through the void that he was picturing. True nothingness... a vast, encompassing emptiness. Couldn't she understand? Couldn't everyone?

“Huh?”

The branch creaks and sways under his weight. He’s shoving a few berries down the front of his shirt, and there are leaves getting caught in his hair and smacking him in the face. With one arm over his chest, he drops down from the branch, landing on his feet with a heavy thud.

“Hey, it’s not so bad. The great outdoors, Penny! You gotta do what you gotta do. Besides, these berries aren’t easy to find.”

Arven moves his hand from his chest and the berries spill out of his shirt.

“I guess a tech nerd like you wouldn’t be used to it.” It sounds a little mean-spirited — but it’s playful. He means no harm.
