What’s your OC’s favorite animal? Least favorite?
Least favourite are probably dogs, since he probably met very few friendly ones. So, he doesn’t really hate them, more like they instantly put him on edge since his brain insists it’s time to run. He needs to meet a puppy. Or, like fifteen of them.
His favourite is, apparently, a bumble bee. I can get that - the only times when he’d have a chance to watch them are quiet moments, times far away from danger. That’d make for a very good memory.
What foods does your OC like to eat? What are their least favorite foods?
Anything? If it’s warm and fresh it’s pure perfection. He usually eats way faster than he should.
He likes wine, too.
What is a random fact about your OC?
He makes odd noises and finger-tapping when he’s thinking. He’s overly fond of snow - being cold-resistant helps a lot.

Does your OC collect anything? What do they collect?
He never really could keep a lot of stuff - most of what he owned was on him, most of the time. He has tendency to gather small trinkets where he can, mostly ones that remind him of people.
He had what he was told is his mother’s hairbrush, a tiny, oddly-painted turtle one of the clerics gave him, and a miniature, toy dagger from the time when he run away from the temple.
They were lost either when the Workshop was destroyed or later, when he was kidnapped.
What kind of things is your OC allergic to?
He’s allergic to stupidity, mostly. He’s not used to it being just harmless silliness, but rather something that will get him killed, or at the very last case him problems.
(He’s allergic to vanilla, but has no idea about that.)
What is a random fact about your OC?
He is prone to absentmindedly taking things apart when stressed. He learned to work leather because he prefers to fix things on his own. He loves horse riding.

What is a random fact about your OC?
He once tried to fake his own death, but forgot and showed up at a party.
After a terrible breakup he send his ex a basket of old fish once. It was the worst thing he and Flick could think of.
He hates darkness and being alone.
Who is the most important person in their life? Why? Who is the least important to them (that still has an impact and why?
Not a person, the whole family. He’s used to respecting their words only, and to running off to them when he feels unsafe. All of them are important - the oldest siblings are rarely there, but he tends to vent to tham about Flick and parents (no reason to vent about Fyr or Ivia yet :>). Steffit is always there is he has a problem and will try his best to support him. Gin will take care of the problems that he can’t fix on his own and provide a silent company when he needs to wind down. Flick will tag along whether he had a stupid plan (and then provide 5 even dumber ones). Fyr watches over him and sets spoons on fire. Ivia stayed where they left, first and foremost. He also quite likes their ooze-talks, and the way she’s always, unlike him, using her brain.
The other end of the spectrum are his paternal grandparents, who are always willing and ready to remind him how wrong his very existence is.
If they could choose their epitaph for their grave, what would they choose?
“I had a good life, thanks to you. Do not mourn me.
Have a party, or something. I’m sorry I won't be there, but I’m a bit buried, as you can see.”
If they could have one thing in the world, what would it be?   
Time.
What’s something that your character does, that other people don’t normally do?
He tends to give names to inanimate objects. The more nervous/excited he is, the more he babbles. When he is down, he gets quiet.
He never has any issues about asking for help.
Gin
What are your OC’s hobbies?
Reading, not surprisingly. Not only magic books that she can learn from, but basically anything ha can get her hands on, which is a lot. She has a weakness for terribly written romances that she can comment on. Nobody but Steffit knows about the secret library in their bedroom, filled with dozens of heavily annotated copies. When he has a bad day he steals some of them just to read the comments.
Every anniversary of their wedding he finds her a new one - sometimes ordering a special copy, with extra-wide margins.
What is a random fact about your OC?
She can’t see colors since she was twenty or so.
She probably killed more people than most serial killers.
She hates figs.
Does your character have any scars? Where did they get them from?
There are still slight marks on her hands from the time she was learning to be a jeweller. There is a mark on her neck from when one of her spells slipped and the victim got a chance to fight back when she was unprepared. Since then she always makes sure they unarm themselves first.
If your character was given a slice of pineapple pizza and they HAD to eat it (or something bad would happen), how would they react? Do they even LIKE pineapple pizza?
If there was the only way to make Gin eat something she does not want to eat would be to put her family’s life and wellbeing on the line. She’s eat the pizza with no protest. And then the person who dared to threaten her family would probably die after eating a whole pineapple at once, and burn alongside their pizzas in the oven.
Steffit
What are your OC’s greatest fears? Weaknesses? Strengths?
All of them are one and the same, actually - family.
Once upon a time Steffit’s parents reaction was his greatest fear, one that came to pass, but right now is losing his actual family, or being unable to stop them from getting hurt. It is also his greatest weakness - he’d do anything to stop that from happening. But, at the same time, it is also his greatest strength - don’t come between him and his family. Gin will destroy you if you try this with her, but Steffit will tear you to pieces and won’t even turn back to look at the mess.
What is a random fact about your OC?
He loves mushrooms and nuts. He likes animals in general. He rides horses more often than ponies, using a sidesaddle.
Would they ever kill someone? What would someone have to do to push them to kill someone? If they would kill someone, why?
If there was no other way, yes. If somebody was threatening his family or employees, he would just go for it. His hammer is usually a non-lethal weapon, but if he could see no way to end the fight with just knocking out the attackers, he’d kill them.
His hammer is always a  lethal weapon when he’s looking for Nil on the wrong side of the river and he knows if he’s stopped he can be too late and Nil will get hurt. He never had to use it there, yet, nobody wants to pick a fight over a few coins with somebody looking ready to kill.

What kind of clothing does your OC wear?
He usually wears comfortable clothes and dark ones - grey, brown, black, dark green - ones that are ok to get dirty. He always wears thick socks to make sure his boots fit well.
If your OC could have any pet, what would they choose? Why?
A goose. He thinks they are cute and cuddly. He has no idea. There were none at the temple and he’s only ever seen them from afar.
What is a random fact about your OC?
He knits a lot, and not very well, but he’s trying. He always believes the best about everybody. He believes people don’t lie. It’s really hard to offend him, since he keeps offending people by speaking his mind all the time. He can’t concentrate very well when there are people nearby.
What kind of nervous habits do they have? Do they stim? Do they have any kinds of addictions?
He loses appetite when stressed. He fidgets. Well, you could say he’s addicted to doing something with his hands. He feels awful when he’s idle.
What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?
Family. Friends. People who won’t care about his tendency to blurt things out. People who will be ok with getting awfully knitted things, even if they will hide them deep in a wardrobe.
Also, maybe chocolate. It was a long time since he tasted it and he rather liked it.

CrossFit mobility basics 1/4: upper back

Learning mobility exercises and release techniques goes hand in with learning the actual crossfit movements. It has to start from very beginning when learning basics of training any method. Many times mobility exercises are needed even before some movements can be performed properly. And it’s not only for beginners, as there’s plenty of reasons why it’s so important to practise them regularly – avoiding injuries and maintaining the ability to train and to progress being the main ones.
To make sure that you’re taking care of your body in the right way, we have gathered the 8 most basic mobility and myofascial release movements every CrossFitter should do regularly. So if you don’t know yet how to avoid or get rid of muscle strains, this is for you. If your problem is more about lack of motivation, we have a solution for that as well – more about that on the blog later this month.
The movements are simple and you’ll need just basic equipment you should find in every gym – a foam roll, a small ball (we use lacrosse balls), a rubber band and a box. A foam roll and a ball are things that are recommended for everyone to have at home as well, and all the following movements can also be done at home. Follow the instructions, repeat the movements shown by our lovely friend, blogger and CrossFit athlete Stefanie (www.steffit.com), do it regularly and you’ll notice a difference. The first two basic exercises are for the upper back. Upper back muscles tend to get sore and stiff especially among people who sit a lot during the day and in top of that practise CrossFit, which consists of a large amount of overhead movements, pull ups and more. For the first exercise you need a good foam roll. Lie down on a matt or on the floor, place the foam roll under your upper back and start rolling as shown in the pictures. Keep your hip elevated to get the pressure in the right muscles. You can keep your arms crossed on your chest, or hands behind your head, however you feel works the best for you. And whatever mobility or recovery exercise you are doing, remember to breathe.

By the way, make sure to use a foam roll of good quality, the harder the better. At least pick a foam roll that will support your weight – Antti didn’t succeed in that.

For the second exercise for the upper back you need a small and hard ball, so that you can reach the muscles between your lats and your vertebra. Lie on the floor with the ball placed so that it massages the right muscles when you move your arm up and down as shown in the pictures. You will feel it when you find the right ones..

Voilà the exercises for the upper back. And there are many more you can do, but having these in your weekly routine will already keep your back in better shape. Remember still that your mobility and recovery is a result of many things, the right amount of training, sleeping, eating and muscle care.
