A spin off of "Perfect Strangers", the show would go on to run for 9 successful seasons, making it the second longest running non-animated US sitcom with a predominately African-American Cast. The show centered around the Winslow Family at first, only when viewers were introduced to Steve Urkel midway into the first season, he quickly became the breakout character and was added as a main character.
