I feel bad because I’m struggling to draw so hard but I NEED to get these thoughts out so. continuing from this tag
#inklings would be butterflies I think because the original tags was about caterpillars#and also because I think it would work really well for Callie and Marie’s hair. becaue their bows could look like butterfly wings#And to match this maybe octolings could be moths. idk lol#OTHER DESIGNS THAT ARE REALLY CLEAR TO ME:#Annie is a tarantula now because I think it would work well with her hair lol. and because I think it would be cute#idk if moe will be like. a bug that spiders usually eat like a fly but now they’re friends. or like one of those frogs that spiders#sometimes keep as pets. two options#Paruko is also a spider though but the fish in her hair is definitely now a dead bug. SAD#sheldon roly poly maybe.. OR HERCULES BEETLE!?#i like the concept of beetle sheldon a lot actually. Cute#spyke is a mosquito probably idk how it would work with his hair but you know. scary and pointy but not actually terrible#I think it would be fun if Pearl was specifically a monarch butterfly to fit her princess theme..#callie would def be one of those butterflies that have like. the batshit long thin tails coming off of their bottom wings to match her hair#bisk daddy long legs..#Can you imagine capn cuttlefish butterfly beard. lol..#Iso padre could be a big roly poly.#Salmonids are ants now. mass numbers kind of weird hard workers scary in big numbers.#could have fun stuff like bosses based off of specific types of ants#trapjaw ant boss honeypot ant boss that functions like steelhead#you know#Imagine Frye commanding giant earthworms. Beautiful world#ok no more ideas autism event over#if anyone wants to draw these I can’t.. I am struggling so bad with drawing right now but I want these to be real#Maybe I could have just made a post instead of tags but um. Oh well too late I don’t feel like moving it

salmon run tips, from the basics to the ones that you may not even think about
(Doing this due to my “not so basic salmon run tips” being filled with people reblogging with basic salmon run tips. yes. I an petty)
BASICS
Ink the wall, please. Ink the wall. Ink any sort of vertical surface
Lure the bosses that follow you, please. Don’t splat the scrapper/steelhead/maws at the shore
High DPS and long ranged weapons for the steelhead.
use the big shot canon.
during fog, make sure to stay 2 by 2
ink a lot
use weapons like blasters, brushes, and rollers for the fish sticks
use the slammin’ lid against other enemies. Please, just do it
NOT REALLY BASIC BUT I AM SHOCKED PEOPLE DONT DO IT!
Move! Staying in one place will make you a target for enemies that target those further away (stinger, fly fish)
the follow point 2.1, DO NOT EGG HOARD. You can throw the eggs closer to the basket
USE YOUR SPECIAL I AM BEGGING YOU IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO USE IT! YOU DONT KNOW HOW MANY GAMES I HAVE LOST BECAUSE SOMEONE DIDNT USE THEIR SPECIAL
Heal your teammates.
use your bombs
If you are close to beating the shift, and you’re the only one left. And you have the ability to either save your teammates or get the eggs into the basket. THROW THE EGGS INTO THE BASKET
yes, you are very profresh if you do this
Use your bomb against the steel eels ribs as a projectile
Instead of this way spamming. You show how to do things in the better way.
uhh… TBA

Just posting this Trucoop wip I randomly found and actually kind of liked. Don't know if I'll ever actually finish it but I figured it could live here in case I don't, maybe this'll give me motivation :) The plan was to just swim around in some light angst/wholesomeness.
*
Late February in the Pacific Northwest is generally warm and rainy - it's always rainy - except this morning, a cool, clean light brightens the land. An almost delicate light, like those first tentative days of spring, when one never knows if a storm will blow in again.
Harry watches beadlets of last night's rain inch their way up the windshield. He'd stepped out into a bright but damp morning, the heavy scent of rain still on the air and thin water streams running down his sleeve as he'd clunked open the door handle of the ‘89 Bronco, the water droplets still clinging to the chrome.
“Couldn't ask for a better day.” Cooper stood opposite at the hood of the pickup, gazing off towards the first as he often does - seeming to see beyond them. He turned to Harry suddenly, with a spreading grin. “A fine day to get us some trout.”
“Steelies won't know what hit ‘em,” Harry rejoined, ducking into the driver's seat.
So now Harry drives, wheels spitting gravel on the forest service road, where they pass through the dark overhang of conifers, water droplets catching the light like so many gems. Cooper's silent for the moment, taking a draught from a massive thermos heavy enough to kill someone, then watching dreamlike through the window as the world passes by. Harry's grateful for the quiet truthfully, having tried to drown out the all too consuming noise that's been in his mind. They've said everything they needed to say about the previous few days in any case.
In all honesty, it had been hard getting out of bed for a day of fishing - but to see someone - a friend - off without sharing the wonders of steelhead season would be simply wrong. Cooper's job here is done, Harry muses again with a strange sense of heaviness. Despite his impending return to DC he looks more than even like he's been cut from the fabric of Twin Peaks, all in flannel and worn pants and wading boots.
As Harry thinks of that past Tuesday in the office, wrapping up paperwork - names and faces and lives reduced into a stack of files - when Cooper had approached him and asked “How bout that fishing trip?” he knows it was less about Cooper's itch for a round of fly fishing. There'd been that knowing look in his eye as he'd studied the weariness Harry couldn't quite hide.
A sudden movement suddenly catches Harry's eye, and he brakes just slightly hard to let the gray doe amble past, tail flicking nervously. A second follows moments behind.
Cooper gives a subtle shake of his head, as though just barely able to believe the wonders of nature. “Just beautiful,” he remarks simply, and takes another sip of coffee.
Harry's seen white tailed deer all his life; they seem as common as mosquitoes here. He finds himself envying that genuine sense of wonder.

Literally saw the horrorborus.
And can only think of boss salmonids appearing in teyvat and I find that hilarious.
Salmonids running amuck, flyfish bombardments, stingers sniping people from afar, big shots firing into populated areas, scrappers speeding all over the place, steelheads causing explosions, and maws snapping at anyone they find.
Don't know how they would react to a Goldie tho.
OK, more splatoon shi-
SALMONS IN SAGAU
Tumblr media
The normal salmon wouldn't be that much of a problem
The average height of an inkling is about 5ft tall
Taking this in account, then most salmon are around 3-4 feet tall with small fry being the smallest (no shit) at 1 foot to under 11 inches and cohocks at the tallest at about 6-7 feet.
The bosses on the other hand
Steelheads are tough mfs, but to them, they're just fish ruin guards
Steel eels would be seen as more of an inconvenience than a threat they make walls and not that threatening to most until they crush you
Drizzlers are seen as the rats of the bosses' easy pickings
FLY FISH They're the worst to them since explosives are not very used tools in regular combat. Klee and yoimiya would be perfectly fine tho
Scrapers would be seen as more intelligent beings with the fact that teyvat does have cars
Stingers are seen as the king of bosses due to height, damage, and the danger they have. Would take the longest to get rid of
Maws are the worst for an average citizen would have to deal with, and also the scariest
Fish stick are the same as drizzlers, but they get new material to work with after they're killed
Flipper floppers are seen similarly to maws but worse! since they don't have ink, they have to time when they come out to hit the mask off
Slammin' lids are seen the same way steel eels are an inconvenience
Big shits I mean big shots are seen as a must kill due to the wave damage they can cause to buildings
Lastly, goldies are seen as salmons that have been blessed by the creator themselves. With their haunting glow and the fact they only appear at night or in glowflies, it is silently shamed upon if someone does kill a goldie
I'll probably make one for the night-time events in the future
That all for now :]

Ughhhhh I came up with this kind of dumb Splatoon AU DLC thing which is basically a rip off of Octo expansion but it refuses to leave my brain so here’s the basics: Salmonlings being scienced into existence and going through levels to try and be able to leave for the city by sinister group.
There’s a fan concept of Salmonlings, which are basically humanoid versions of Salmonids which also have a swim form but tend to be more xeno in design than Inklings or Octolings.
Salmonlings here are a science experiment gone wrong, where some scientists tried experimenting on Salmonid eggs to create extremely tough monsters. However, this ended up creating Salmonlings by combining Inkling CNA with Salmonid.
Salmonlings can swim in water, unlike Inklings, but loose their main Salmonid form in favour of something…. Fresher. Their swim form is more in line with the appearance of inklings and Octolings swim forms, and they’re able to take on ink like them.
They also can be splatted by enemy ink, as their skin may be able to resist water but can’t handle too much enemy ink.
The dlc follows some of these experiments soon after they emerge from their test tube, being tested for mental and physical capabilities. (Somewhat similar to Octo Expansion or Alterna format). The Salmonlings are promised that if they complete all the tests, they’ll be able to leave the facility; and are then dropped into their hub area which is a barracks/common area for the Salmonlings.
Ideas
- The whole vibe of this dlc is kind of grimy and inspired by the sea a lot more directly - with the music themed after rock and roll, and everything being a little dirty. There are fishing nets everywhere, dark spots on the walls and floors, and water is leaking in from the ceiling.
- The vibe is also supposed to invoke how the Grizz Co hub area feels like, with oranges and greens everywhere.
- The person who takes you in your tests is also a pre-recorded and distorted voice coming through a radio, though it isn’t Mr grizz.
- Salmonlings come out in batches, the batch with the protagonist (and most recent batch) is batch 10 also known as Iota (each batch is given a Greek numeral nickname)
- Other batches of Salmonlings are there, as far back as batch 6 (or Digamma) However, if you are unable to pass their tests in an amount of time, or flunk out, you’re assigned to work in the underground facilities of this place.
- Salmonlings are different from salmonids for many reasons, but Salmonids can somehow tell they are somewhat kin so they don’t attack Salmonlings and even help them on occasion if the situation permits it.
- At the end of every level, there is a pin that can be collected and has a description which reveals a small bit of lore or the feelings of the protagonist through the description. Example: This depicts a Salmon, which were the ancestor to Salmonids. Could they still swim across the seas?
- Every boss level, which there are 5 of them, has a gold pin which is added to the protagonist’s backpack.
- Each boss is a powered up Boss Salmonid: one is a Steelhead with multiple exploding sacks instead of just one, another is a rainmaker and fly fish combo, etc.
- Each test happens on the surface on some kind of shoreline, and the enemies being fought are robot duplicates of the octarian enemies we are familiar with (they don’t resemble them in appearance, they just act like the general enemies).
- One of the other Salmonlings is an npc named Kipper. She acts as an upgrade station, she can sneak in additions to your main weapon and extra sub weapons you can equip to your character. To upgrade you need to collect power eggs from the tests themselves
- As you progress, you have conversations with Kipper about how little we actually know about this, and why they were brought into existence at all. Over time, she becomes basically a big sister to the protagonist and is proud of them when they succeed.
——
When the Protagonist completes all the tests, they are led into a chamber and is almost forced into a weird machine before Kipper comes to rescue them. She reveals that she was suspicious of these tests, and came to our aid as soon as she could and that they have mind controlled a ton of other Salmonlings and made the others work on weapons.
To escape the protagonist needs to go through these weapon facilities, showing they are making war machines and the robotic enemies try and stop the protagonist, as Kipper guides them out of this facility with other Salmonlings escaping behind us (not viewable on screen, but shown in cutscenes after finishing a segment).
After they get out, the Salmonlings are attacked by Lil’ Judd in a huge Mech suit.
He reveals that this whole thing was, of course, a front to make Salmonling soldiers for Lil’ Judd. After he took over Grizz Co, he decided he wanted to start selling golden eggs to other groups. One group of amoral scientists wanted to experiment with them, and Lil Judd agreed to it and oversaw the project. Once he realized how tough the Salmonlings were, he concocted a plan to take over Inkadia by force to permanently upstage his brother who won on the inkling’s side of a war.
Now he’s prepared to attack the escaped Salmonlings, and they quickly take cover. Kipper then rallies the escapees for one last charge against Lil’ Judd, and she will sing the song from her dreams as hard as she can to help them despite her own weakness. She sings a melody not familiar to the Salmonlings, but familiar to us players - the Calamari Inkantation Solo Remix.
Lil Judd summons a bunch of Enemy Salmonlings, and the player has to fight them in four total waves with more and more coming each time. (One optional idea I had but I wasn’t sure was even realistic was having three other Salmonling AI fight alongside you. On one hand it would be a cool subversion of fighting the rivals in splatoon, on the other it would be hard to make balanced or fun in an actual game.)
After the waves are defeated, Lil Judd throws the Salmonlings off himself and boasts that even if his army could be defeated, he won’t be going down!
Then a heavy base comes from the distance, and a twinkle in the sky is then revealed to be DJ Octavio crashing in with Neo Agent 3 and Agent 8 riding on his Mech. Octavio reveals they were brought here once they heard the echoes of the heavenly melody. Neo 3 and 8 handle the army now, and Kipper volunteers us to go and help pilot the Mech to fight Lil’ Judd. We do in an epic Mech fight, with DJ Octavio remixing the solo Inkantation as they fight, and end up winning in a fade to white.
In the ending, the rest of the Squidbeak Splatoon catch-up and decide to help settle the wayward Salmonlings in Inkopolis. The credits roll as the protagonist and Kipper look out at the landscape outside as they travel towards Inkopolis in a bus ending with them leaving and the protagonist giving a small wave before leaving the bus.
In my dreams this would also open up a new area to explore, called Inkadia Harbour which is located next to the sea where the Salmonlings decide to settle in due to how close to the water it is. The player would then be rewarded with being able to play a Salmonling in the game.
And there it is. It’s just a bunch of basic ideas for story and themes, but it appeals to me as something I made up in my head. Now you have to struggle with this not being real too.

Good reasons to rush the shoreline: There is a -Stinger -Big shot -Fly fish -Slammin lid
Bad reasons to rush the shore for the love of god just lure it to the egg basket you could mess up the entire wave PLEASE RECONSIDER: There is a -Steelhead -Maws! -Steel eel -Scrapper!! -Drizzler -Goldie!!!! -Fish stick -Flipper flopper
The shore is where you are most likely to die and take the longest to be revived, don't go there unless you 100% have to and don't stay there any longer than you have to

Swing North-Fly-Fishing for Winter Steelhead from Mikey Wier on Vimeo.
Hidden behind deep gray fog, California’s North Coast is one of the most pristine habitats in the state. But the thick redwood forests and slate green rivers were almost devastated by the impact of industry. Once hosting runs of more than a million salmon and steelhead, the annual fish counts on the Eel River now often number less than 1,000. Yet, the salmonids persist. In recent years, signs of a recovery ripple through the waters. In Swing North, fishermen Mikey Wier and Jason Hartwick hook into the growing population of wild winter run steelhead on the Eel. With appearances by Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia and Shane Anderson, director of Wild Reverence: The Wild Steelheads’ Last Stand, the two discover a river that holds hope for one of California’s great remaining wild fisheries.
The full movie will be featured in the 2014 International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4).

The Puyallup River is a popular destination for fishing enthusiasts in Washington State, known for its diverse aquatic life and scenic beauty. Flowing from the foothills of Mount Rainier to the Puget Sound, this river offers a range of fishing opportunities throughout the year, making it an ideal spot for anglers of all skill levels.
Fishing Opportunities
One of the main attractions of Puyallup River fishing is its healthy population of salmon, including Chinook, coho, and pink salmon, which can be found during their respective spawning seasons. The best time for salmon fishing typically runs from late summer through fall. In addition to salmon, anglers can also target steelhead trout, which are prevalent during the winter and early spring months. The river's varied habitats create perfect conditions for these fish, attracting both seasoned anglers and novices alike.
Fishing Techniques
Fishing in the Puyallup River can be done using various techniques. Drift fishing, float fishing, and using spinners or spoons are popular methods for salmon. For steelhead, many anglers prefer fly fishing or bobber fishing with bait. Each technique has its benefits, and local tackle shops often provide valuable advice on what works best for the current conditions.
Scenic Beauty
Beyond the fishing opportunities, the Puyallup River is known for its stunning natural landscapes. Surrounded by lush forests and majestic mountains, fishing here offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you prefer wading into the river or fishing from a boat, the scenic views enhance the overall experience.
Access and Regulations
The Puyallup River is easily accessible from various points, including public parks and fishing accesses. Before heading out, it's essential to check the local regulations and obtain the necessary fishing licenses. Washington State has specific rules regarding fishing seasons, catch limits, and gear restrictions to protect the river's fish populations.
Conclusion
Puyallup River fishing is an adventure that combines the thrill of the catch with the tranquility of nature. Whether you’re casting your line for salmon or steelhead, the Puyallup River offers a rewarding experience for all anglers. With its rich aquatic life, beautiful surroundings, and accessible fishing spots, it's no wonder that this river is a cherished destination for fishing enthusiasts in the Pacific Northwest. More stuff:
Kills fish sticks in 2 shots from ground level if you aim to the right side (i.e. the side where the fish fly at you)
Instantly fills flipper flopper circle in one shot if you hit the center, and in general puts down a huge area of floor ink (also makes a good trail of ink down from wherever it hits a wall)
2 shots slightly above the base of a stinger should hit all the pots (you can technically get it in one if you're the exact distance where the projectile falls straight down or shoot straight up while standing next to it but honestly those feel niche)
I think it just kills scrapper with 2 shots to the face?
2 direct body shots kills steelhead, no need to wait on the bomb
1 direct hit to any part of the body of a griller is almost enough to stop it, 40 damage from someone else to its weak point (or another indirect from you) will make it stop.
Drizzler does take 3 direct shots through the shield but that's still less time than waiting for it to shoot.
The main thing is just to launch exactly the shots you need and get back in the ink to refill, and stay in a safe spot. You are essentially forbidden from being on the shore, you can help run eggs closer to the basket but you have to hang back and do what you're good at.
