Assault configuration of the XV25 Stealth Battlesuit a standard XV25 with shoulder mounted launcher and additional armor plates. with reinforced visor and back mounted heavy weapons at the cost of reduced mobility spent heavy weapons can be detached and discarded to regain mobility.

The Fire Caste of D'Yanoi still regularly partake in hunting as a pastime. While other Tau castes are vegetarian, the Fire Caste of the Sept are positively meat aficionados. They are particularly skilled at making use of camoleoline blinds and high ground to fell their prey. As a result, D'Yanoi's Hunter Cadres have more stealthsuits than average.

Other Tau, depending on the Sept, see this as kind of barbaric.

Lynx here holds a special place in my heart because she was the first design I made that I was actually proud of. She started life as a Shadowrun character before she moved into something resembling a homebrew world.

She’s just your typical augmented infiltrator Splinter Cell kinda girl... Breaking into restricted areas and grabbing anything that looks good. Why go to all the bullshit hacking through the mainframe when you can just crack the case open and yank the hard drives out?

I threw a kindjal at my alarm clock.

“Paul! Get your prophetical ass downstairs!” my Reverend Mother yelled. I looked into the mirror to see my blue orbs staring at me. I put my natural dark curls into a messy bun. I threw on a stealthsuit and my favorite hoodie. I went downstairs to see my mother, surrounded by a group of fanatical followers with a bottle of water of life in her hands.

“Listen up! We needed to settle the spice melange crisis, so I sold you. Your new owners will arrive any minute”.

“You can’t do that! You are an awful mother!” She shrugged a took a swig of the water of life.

“That’s the Way, Paul, and I love being a fanatical ruler more than I love you. Actually, could’ve skipped whole being a concubine thing”

“That’s not the Way, it’s an anachronistic reference, you bitch!” I stormed out in the desert, but when I opened the door I saw one bald boy blocking the way. What was that thing called? His black orbs stared at me as he bared his black teeth.

“I think you are trying to say Golden Path” he said, grinning “But in this timeline it would also be anachronistic”

“As it is written!” Stilgar shreiked “He is being sold to One Direction!”

Repost. Sort of. I fixed her up a bit.

Pathfinder from Ke’lshan. Ke’lshan are mistrustful, grim, and openly hostile to aliens due to their history of invasions by the Dark Eldar, Nids, IG, and CSM. Also this is the first piece done for the Second Sphere Expansion.

They’re my favorite Sept because of the introduction to the coolest battlesuit, the XV9 Hazard, and Commander R’alai. My stealthsuit captain is from Ke’lshan as well.

O'Shaserra and Oe-hei and Oe-ken-yon in the Vior'la Sept colors

I'm really happy with how she turned out and definitely worth the effort! Such a detailed miniature too! which was both nice and frustrating (panel-lining and edge highlights).

Also after reading the Patient Hunter novel I couldn't paint her without helmeted option as Nurgle loves Characters without helmets but the T'au learn quick! (also with helmet she just looks cute with the stealthsuits! I'll leave the empty base joke up to yourself this time lol)

One thing I have been haphazardly chipping away at is something involving an ork kommando who wants to have a stealthsuit like those sneaky tau stealthsuits so has murdered a bunch of them and taken their armour to a mek in hopes of getting his own suit, but as payment the mek has requested the kommando steal a riptide.

Hilarity is meant to ensue.

Conceptually this appeals to me, mostly as, when I was doing some ork stuff for something else, I came to feel that writing orks is pretty fun, so why not do some of that?

Anyway, look:

Wot’s all dis den?” Lugnut asked, eyeing both Slik and the sack with (frankly, warranted) suspicion. Slik was used to getting looks like this so it didn’t bother him all that much. He gestured emphatically at the sack, complete with all the obvious tau equipment it had already had poking out the top.

“Wot’s it look like? Bitz! I got a projekt for ya!” Slik declared, grinning. Lugnut’s ears pricked up.

“Bitz, eh? Bluey bitz?” he asked, his interest piqued. Slik grinned wider, which was not a pleasant sight by any means, even for another ork.

“Course.”

A ‘bluey’ in this instance being a tau, for clarity. The orks had a variety of names on offer for them, mostly because very few of the orks on the planet had actually discovered - or bothered to try and discover - the name of the Tau. It didn’t seem especially important. They were enemies foremost and aliens second - everything else after that was just unnecessary detail.

Lugnut reached into the sack, rummaged, and produced a dark helmet. It was a little beyond dark, actually. Light seemed to somehow just fall into whatever it was the armour had been coated in, making it darker than dark and, frankly, kind of difficult to look at.

A head then fell out of the helmet and bounced off of Lugnut’s foot.

“Eurgh! Dere’s still alien in dis one!” He said with distaste, turning the helmet over and grimacing at the mess he could now see was on the inside. Blood and guts was one thing, that was fine, but blood and guts on the bitz? That was uncalled for. Slik was unmoved.

“It’ll ‘ose off! Stop bein’ a grot ‘bout a bit a blood!”

“S’more dan blood! It’s leakin’ all ova ma floor! Look!” Lugnut said, glowering and pointing to the sack which was indeed leaking all over the floor. Still glowering, Lugnut turned to one side of his workshop where lounged about half a dozen grots, half of whom appeared to be napping. “Oi! You lot! Stop lazin’ about and clean this up! Now!”

I’m not trying to shatter the mold of originality with those names.

Ok, points opinions time!!

Basically everything went down in points, so we’ve got a lot more room in our lists going forward. This fortunately means we have more flexibility to try out different units and combos so run whatever units you want to at this point, we don’t need to be hyper competitive now to stand on our own

Some standout units worth considering:

Breachers, Cadre Fireblade and Devilfish [205]: For the low low price of 205 pts (165 w/o the Fireblade) you too can field the classic Fish of Fury. The points reduction really makes this a lot more playable and I’ll likely add at least one to my list

Broadside Battlesuits, Hammerhead Gunship and Sky Ray Gunship all received a decent points decrease and are worth considering to buff your anti-armor presence

Crisis Battlesuits in general are cheaper and great

Ghostkeels and Stealthsuits got CHEAPER?! Auto take in my opinion

Kroot and Riptides both got lowered to a usable level with Kroot going down 20 pts a squad and Riptides going down 55 pts, so don’t be afraid to use either anymore

Overall this balance slate was a big win for us. Points reductions means we can easily add 2 or more squads to the lists we were running previously, plus we weren’t hit with any major nerfs that didn’t hit our rivals harder
