Pratt & Whitney Canada announced that Amphibian Aerospace Industries selected the PT6A-67F turboprop engine to equip its new G-111T version of the Albatross twin-engine amphibious aircraft as part of a supplementary type certificate (STC) for modernization.

“We are very pleased to play a role in the modernization of the G-111T aircraft, which has such an illustrious history,” said Nicholas Kanellias, vice president of General Aviation at Pratt & Whitney Canada. “PT6A-67F engines, each with 1,700 horsepower (SHP), will provide the amphibious aircraft G-111T with superior performance, longer range and the reliability and reference performance characteristics that are common to aircraft with PT6A engine.” The original G-111 Albatross aircraft was powered by piston engines.

“The G-111T is the only large amphibious aircraft in the category of passenger transport, cargo and utility on the market,” said Amphibian Aerospace Industries President Khoa Hoang. “Due to its ability to land and take off both on land and water, the G-111T is ideal for use in inland rivers, rescue in oceans, mountainous terrain and tropical river basins.”

The engine is based on the experience gained in more than 900 million hours of operating experience in our portfolio and the reliability of the PT6 family.
