Its hard to live with someone who thinks mothers have to hold the entire house down just because we don't "work". I used to say all those moms who stay at home are lazy etc. Now that I am a mom to a 6 month old 11 year old and 13 year old. It's a battle field with this kids. Man tend to think that there only job is to bring the money home but is that there only job??? Should man be helping with home chores and kids??? Day Four…

This is the fourth day that I have been stuck. Stagnant. During the weekend I made an attempt to get all the laundry done but as usual I fell short a load. Where I’d usually just finish it during the week, I just now today was able put some of the clean basket away. I am frustrated to say the least.

Our dog passed away last week. It was pretty traumatic for the family. I could tell by the way my aunt reacted that she was worried this would trigger me into an episode. As soon as I felt that energy I began to fear it too. I tend to pretend it’s not happening and when it begins. So naturally that is what I have done. I have accepted the bouts of tears in the bathroom and ruminating about what I could have done differently. I knew that I would get down but had things to do at the same time. Now that all the ‘have to-s’ are done I remain imprisoned in my mind.

It’s almost the weekend which means the kids will be home all day. I need to go to the grocery store. Tomorrow night is my girl’s basketball game and I need the energy for that. I can’t miss that. I know that I will push through and get done what has to get done. But what am I making for dinner tonight?

I am really tired of this.

Goals

I’ve always had goals. As a child I loved children and wanted to work with them. I didn’t want to be a Stay at Home Mom, because I wanted to help more than just my own children. I wanted to be a teacher. Some time later I heard the term pediatric cardiologist in a movie, and wanted to do that. When I was taken from my mom by Social Services, I wanted to become a Social Worker. 

I could have easily attained any one of these goals. I could have buckled down in high school and earned myself a full-ride scholarship to an Ivy League School. But I chose a different path for myself. I chose rebellion. 

This is what has lead me to be in my early to mid 30s beginning my life when  I should have been half way through it. 

Us moms always say that our life begins when our children are born. And if you don’t have children you may not fully understand what we mean by that. Yes, we are referring to the love that we are immediately overcome with for our children, but there’s more to it. 

Before becoming a Mom, I had a new goal every couple of years, but no plan to put any of those goals into motion. I was most concerned with “living my life” and content with living paycheck to paycheck, rather than thriving for the best life. I wanted a Genie to come and grant me 3 wishes to have the glamourous life I dreamt of.

Once I became a Mom, I felt my self preservation sky rocket, the need for a savings felt as necessary as blood in my veins. I now know what I want to do with my life and career. Not only to live, but to thrive and provide a comfortable life for my children and my family. 

That’s not to say that my husband doesn’t do an excellent job providing for us, but I want more and my kids deserve more.

I wake up feeling like it's a dream.

It's waking up on a Tuesday not knowing what day it is.

It's prepping bottles but doubling it.

It's hearing a baby cry; with no silence to hear another.

It's losing your patience because you don't know what they need.

It's feeling exhausted.

But its also;

Watching them smile.

Hearing them laugh.

Cuddling two sweet babies.

Picking out cute corresponding clothes.

It's being a twin mom.
