Top 10 2023 BL Kisses

If you've seen at least a couple BLs you know that some of these actors are either uncomfortable kissing another man or just didn't get enough practice kissing literally anyone. So when they get it right and genuinely seem to be enjoying themselves, it is worth noting. Soooo grab a pen and paper, and take some notes:

You Are Mine: This Taiwanese drama was problematique with the unbalanced workplace power dynamics, but this sweet upside down kiss was worth the wait.

Dangerous Romance: This may not have been their first kiss, but it felt like the most romantic. By this point, they'd shared many scenes filled with awkward sexual tension, but this one didn't have an ounce of humor, and Kanghan and Sailom just melted into each other's arms.

Kiseki: Dear to Me: The lighting for this kiss really emphasized their till-death-do-us-part themed dialogue where they vowed to die seconds apart.

Stay By My Side: Lackluster supernatural subplot aside, this Taiwanese drama delivered the most adorable kiss as the main lead was too nervous to give in to his desires without closing his eyes.

Be My Favorite: It took Kawi a frustratingly long time to pull his head out of his ass and realize he would be lucky to have Pisaeng even as a friend let alone a boyfriend. Thank goodness for Pisaeng's patience, cause ours was wearing thin.

Love Class 2: Very happy Ma Ru realized he had feelings for his bestie and wasted no time making that clear with an epic kiss that I have probably rewatched a dozen times.

Only Friends: Honestly, all of their kisses were incredible, because both of these actors went from supporting characters to lead roles, and did not skip a beat. There was no awkward beginner's kiss phase. Those intimacy workshops must've been lit.

Step by Step: Their kiss chemistry was on point, but the car scenes were the most memorable for how very possible they would've been caught in the act in the parking garage of their place of employment. Caution meet wind.

Wedding Plan: These two were about five seconds away from making a baby in that car, and if this were the omegaverse, they probably would've.

Hidden Agenda: There was hunger in that kiss on both sides, and it took every ounce of strength in Zo to shove Joke out the door once he made his intention clear.

I have been laughing at the Stay by my Side BTS for hours. Waji ( Bu Xia) is unhinged and athletic (pro dancer) and Isaac ( Jiang Chi) is shyer but doesn’t know how to back down from the shenanigans.

I love this show so much. The final conflict is about having to have gotten to the point of having sex in their relationship so he can protect him from ghosts because his boyfriend's sister has to explain ancient concepts of marriage.

I love this nonsense so much. What babies.

What I like about Stay by My Side is that it doesn't try to be anything it's not. It knows it's a brain off, cutesy, fluff series and hits all the well loved tropes to execute it well.

✅ Antagonistic first meeting with slow-mo eye contact

✅ Sunshine male lead being an Idiotic, petty, embarrassing, immature, little shit, but being really cute about it so all is forgiven

✅ Fighting between the male leads that is actually just them flirting

✅ "Incident" which causes one of the male leads to start realizing their feelings while the other is completely unaware

✅ Gay panic

✅ Reluctant, but ultimately soft and caring grump male lead

✅ Grump sacrifices for, comforts, and takes care of sunshine. We see that the grump is actually a softie at heart.

So far all the tropes are hitting the mark for me. These types of series are a little bit cringe and silly, but also manage to be cute and funny and that's what makes them work.

I love that we are recapping the BDSM moment, just saying. Um... Jiang Chi needs to practice his leading the blind skills. Poor Bu Xia. Ah, but the love language of food. Ha! The cake scene is too adorable for words. Damn it! Bu Xia it's too early in the show to have me all up in my feels. That's something you gotta ease a girl into.

The more I look at the cake, the more I feel like whining cause it looks better than anything I can do. Damn, but Jiang Chi went out of his way to find out about Bu Xia. I'm married, and I'm feeling very single right now.

"I'm a bit boring and stubborn, but when I care about someone, I will give it my all." Which is sweet and makes all of us feel gooey, including Bu Xia until he continues to say that he needs Bu Xia to tell him if there is a promise because he essentially doesn't like to be lied to. Causing Bu Xia to feel further guilty.

Sis is like, who are you again? I will say that him not knowing if Bu Xia had brought up their relationship. Then proceeding to tell his sister, is not cool. Sister trying to out scare a Dom, but she's not a Dom. It looks funny.

Ahahah, "Aren't you the heater guy?" Jiang Chi is like, "heater guy?" And sis is like, oh shit.

We got guilty feeling Bu Xia who is now doubting his worth. Poor baby. And the basket ball team is not helping. I love these bitches, I really do, but damn guys. Read the fucking room. They make a very poor comeback, but at least they tried.

So I binged Stay By My Side this weekend.

Is it just me, or does anyone else want the ghost voices in Bu Xia’s head to give him helpful advice to help him come to terms with his relationship and feelings for Jiang Chi? Which results in him being less fearful, and ultimately deciding to help them with their earthly issues?

The absolute pride on his face when he says he has a boyfriend instead of a girlfriend. Because Jiang Chi is proud of dating Bu Xia and he loves him so much and he will not hesitate or be ashamed of who he loves.

He knew, yet still gave Bu Xia a birthday surprise y todo! He went to the sister to do the "respectable" thing and confessed to their relationship. He is so adorable. And the sister has to be bisexual. Sitting in chairs normally is so difficult for us.

But the friends group trying to convince Bu Xia to not harm himself shouldn't have been as funny as it was. The first friend was telling him how his death would scare other couples, and his other friend said she felt ugly today and didn't want to be on the news.

Jiang Chi wanting Bu Xia to chase after him didn't even crush me because these two will work it out. They are color coded, and color coded boys get happy endings!

This show is so soft and cute. I want to pinch its cheeks and slip a twenty into its pocket for candy later.
