“Hello Team Niall.” Niall introduced as they all waved and greeted him back. “Well, I've got a bit of news for you. Because of my concert schedule, I actually won't be in town for knockout rehearsals.” Everyone was shocked… and rightfully so. “Because I won't be there, I've chosen another coach to come in and mentor you guys for rehearsal.” Everyone started to freak out wondering who on earth it might be. 

“And they have been in your place before so I think they’ve got exactly what you need.”

The scene changed to the all too familiar practice room with an empty directors chairs. The sounds of steps progressively got louder until the special person appeared. 

“I'M BACK!” 

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's rewind a bit.

A day or two after The Voice Finale

“Hi I’m Maia Quinn, and I'm the Season 23 winner of The Voice, and we're hanging out with Rob on Front Row Live.”

“Go with me.” Niall moaned into your mouth as you straddled him. “Where?” you question kissing down his neck. “Boston. I know it's last minute and we’d leave in the morning-” you shut him up with a kiss and a roll of your hips, his hands tightening against your thighs. “Just wake me up an hour before we leave.”

Sitting at the desk of you and Niall’s shared hotel room the morning of May 26th  you had early interviews to get through before you were meant to go to the festival. You looked over the camera to see Niall already looking at you.

“Maia congratulations. What a night you had a few nights ago.” Rob praised and you smiled adjusting your airpod. “I am super excited for you and your career and your future. Especially because you're starting so young. You have enough time to kind of like, continue to evolve, and understand your voice; learn a lot more about yourself throughout this process. Talk to me about this process of your experience here on the voice and how you've evolved as a vocalist and a performer.” The interview was more than you could ever imagine. 

“Now your relationship with Niall this season has had fans going crazy. From the after performance hugs to the duet, and the after party, what can you tell us about that?”

You saw Nialls face peak over the laptop screen and stayed neutral. “Niall has been the most supportive and very encouraging. He has become one of my best friends through this whole journey. I lost a lot of my confidence during the pandemic unfortunately. It made me think that I would never be able to do things that I certainly could do and Niall- all these years later- has been there to remind me that I probably can do them, and then make me do it. So our friendship and relationship has been so important to me. He is my best friend across the charts and he’d hate me for saying this, but I wouldn't be here without him.” 

“Last question before we go. Is there anything we can look forward to seeing soon? Maybe another EP?”

You smiled glad you were able to share some information on what was coming next. “All I'll say now is, look for me on stage back home.” you winked dramatically knowing those who would get it would get it.”

“That's amazing, I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled. It was so great having you on. I hope to see you in person soon.”

“Bye!”

Being at Boston Calling with him

“Boston, Massachusetts, how you doing?” he asked the crowd after he finished ‘Heaven’. The loud response made him smile excitedly. “Holy shit! This is crazy.” you face palmed knowing he was going to slip up sooner or later. “Thank you all so much for coming out to see me. I really appreciate it.” they cheered again as he sipped his water. You watched as he looked at the amount of people and a smile formed on your face.

 “This is uhm- this is actually my first ever Festival.” he let out a breath at the realisation. “I've definitely been drunk at a few.” you laughed at him with the rest of the crowd. “But I've never played at any and for that reason I'm absolutely shitting myself.” he said looking at you knowing you would calm him, and him seeing you laugh did just the trick. 

“But thank you for being here. I know some of you guys have been queuing for years.” he looked around at the signs “My girlfriend showed me this earlier ‘i travelled four thousand miles to be here from Brazil’ your eyes went wide at the declaration and the deafening screams were present. He subtly looked in your direction and saw your reaction, his worry diminished as he saw you smiling making him smile. “Makes you feel bad from coming just down the road doesn't it? ‘I came from round New York’.” he mocked, “awe who cares.” he laughed with them and you hid a big smile behind your hands.

You walked the same route you came flashing your pass when you reached the gate and made your way in to see Niall. When you saw him you squealed and ran over to him. He turned when he heard you and caught you in his arms as you wrapped your legs around his waist and he spun you both around hands on the swell of your bum.

“I'm so proud of you!” you screamed and he laughed before he was kissing you passionately. It was quick as many more pecks through giggles followed. “I can not explain to you how happy i am.” he whispered in shock as you were sitting in the trailer behind the stage and he was getting changed. “You should be so happy, my love. That was incredible, and I am so so proud of you.” he smiled at you before grabbing your hand and kissing the ring on it. “You make me so happy, baby girl.” you melted at his words and stood up to kiss him softly. “And you make me the happiest girl, Ni.”

You surprising Niall at his Zane Lowe interview and him outing you 

You knew Niall was disappointed when you told him you wouldn't be able to make it to his Zane Lowe interview today. He was really excited for this one and wanted you to be there. It was only a few days later that you flew from Boston down to LA for the interview. You were working on last minute stuff for the announcement today and you were nowhere close to done when he was getting ready to leave.

“I'm sorry love.” you kissed his pout away as you both stood by the door of his  LA house. “I know, it’s okay. I know why you can’t make it, and for that I am so very proud.” he melted his lips against yours as your hands went to the curls on the back of his neck and he wrapped his went straight to your bum.

Niall was watching Zane play his songs and the guitar with a big smile a few hours after he left. “There are some pretty songs on this record bro.” Zane complimented as he switched playing from ‘The Show’ to ‘You could start a cult’. You who had just made it into the studio to surprise Niall were standing behind the glass watching him, waiting for him to notice. 

“Thank you very much.'' He cut through Zanes music. “This one kills me.” Zane admitted as Niall caught on to what he was playing. “Yeah.” he cheered Zane on softly, finally noticing you. You saw his smile widened and you waved softly. “You Could Start A Cult.” he named distractedly, still looking at you as if he looked away you would disappear.

“Kingdoms fighting over you,” Niall continued. “I think that like they’re the ones- that could have very easily been, ‘ i like waking up beside you and you're my favourite person.” he joked easily. “But ‘you could start a war’.” you shook your head at his lyrical genius. “Do you ever crack yourself up with it?”

‘Yeah it was something silly at first but now everyone's obsessed with it. It started with me and my girlfriend now, when we met we would watch crime shows together over facetime,” he exposed and you chuckled at his laugh.

‘You say girlfriend now, sorry if i'm over stepping but..” zane trailed off

“No,” he shrugged off looking at you, who nodded, “she was not my girlfriend at the time, she is now, is what that meant.”

“So did she not know the song was for her?”

“She didn't know any song was for her- or about her I should say. The road from when we met to now has been a very dark windy tunnel, but we made it to the other end.”

“That's beautiful Niall, truly.” You smiled at him agreeing with Zane.

“This was the last song on the record that we wrote.” Niall confessed, and you wondered why. “Why, what was missing?” and without hesitation he pointed to you, “her.” Zane looked to where he was pointing and you waved happily at him. He waved back to you just as happy before turning to Niall with a face of shock. “No?” he gasped and Niall laughed, throwing his head back. “Yeah, I know. Way out of my league.” he watched you shake your head with an eye roll and he couldn't stop the smile from gracing his face.

“I could’ve gone and did what I did with the rest of the record and put BV’s all over it and strings and that was my plan - and John just said to me- because we we were not talking at the time…” he pointed between you and him, “...this is your message to,” he paused, ‘“ her’ keep it that way. Just you and your guitar and your feelings.”

Episode 7: Still Purple

"Every single one of our performances was significant to us, they are all precious memories." – Jimin

The song Butterfly starts and I know this episode is going to be hard to watch because I'm already tearing up.

This is a long post. Apologies. There's a lot to say about it.

They are talking about what concert memories mean the most to them:

Hobi says it was their first stadium concert at the Rose Bowl which was the most significant memory for him as far as which concert was the most memorable.

Jungkook says it was Chicago when it was the first time they'd ever performed in the rain:

Jin says it's when they perform IDOL that is his favorite concert memory.

Jimin says even though fans would see what he's talking about through photos but in real life, what they see from the stage is so beautiful, words can't do justice to describe it:

They reminisce about their concert at the Olympic Gymnastic Arena and recalling the emotions they felt then, that they had reached the top in 2016 are a very precious memory to them

Concerts are what they were made to do. Their type of performance, the big choreography, the big songs... big performances... belong on the live concert stage.

And now we're at the series of concerts that were to be their last before they really embark on Chapter 2: PTD Las Vegas.

BigHit/Hybe pulled out the stops for this one. The city of Las Vegas was all in and being the party city it is, it was one of the most fun and extravagant things I've ever witnessed.

I 1000% regret not going. I didn't know it was going to be the last chance for a long time.

They get to do things like attend a few concerts and visit the Bellagio Fountain when the fountains of water are set to the rhythm of Dynamite and Butter. I know Hobi has a video of Jungkook and Tae vibing to Dynamite at the Bellagio Fountain on his camera roll! Show it to us Hobi!!

Jimin, Yoongi and Namjoon went to the Silk Sonic concert.

I think it's curious that they do not mention the 2022 Grammy performance or event at all. When they left Seoul for this trip on March 28, 2022, Hobi was not with them because he had tested positive for covid prior to departure. Jungkook wasn't with them because he'd left the day before for the purpose of a work schedule but I don't remember what it was, and upon landing in the U.S. he tested positive for covid and had to quarantine until he had a negative test.

They were to perform at the Grammy Awards show on April 3, 2022. They were missing two members up until the day before the performance. Thankfully Hobi tested negative in time to catch a plane to Las Vegas:

Jungkook tested negative the day before the performance and was able to practice ONCE with the group. Here he is doing a Vlive while quarantining in his hotel room:

And after all that, they gave a performance of a lifetime during the Grammy Awards:

Anyway... I digress... just curious they make no mention of it at all...

Jungkook brought his boxing coach (Coach Tommy) and this might be the workout he was doing prior to joining Hobi, Tae and Jimin for that Vlive following one of their concerts.

Jungkook says the only thing he regrets about the previous 10 years was that it took him a while to realize certain things and then put them into practice.

Namjoon wonders what it would've been like had they ended things after ON and Yoongi reflects that they would've taken a break from November 2020, if the pandemic had not happened and they would've been on a break for about two and half years (for enlistment). They didn't expect the pandemic to go on for so long (none of us did).

Namjoon wonders if he stayed true to the lyrics he wrote in ON while living his life. He thought they were running straight ahead all this time but as it turns out, they had gone in a circle and were back at the starting line. He contemplates what to do to run forward again.

The last PTD Las Vegas concert is bittersweet for all of us. So much has happened to culminate with this.

Tae says it's time for them to organize their thoughts so they can come back with a better image and performance and they aren't saying they are done, they are saying they've worked hard and now they need the time to grow.

And then we see Jimin in the car, on the way home after their last PTD Seoul concert on March 13, 2020. He is on the phone inviting someone over. Guess who?

It looks like he's taken a shower. He shows us a pot of fish cake soup his dad made for him. Jimin prepares three place settings, fetches 3 bottles of soju, and pardon me but the fact Jimin has a can of spray cheez in his auxiliary kitchen changes everything for me.

Why is he consuming that and why does he store it above the kitchen sink in is extra kitchen? Why do these expensive apartments have two kitchens? Jimin barely needs one kitchen but he has two...

Anyway, Jungkook arrives and they proceed to eat and drink.

While they are having a conversation about what time they go to bed and wake up, Jimin says he might sleep until 4 pm and then this ensues:

When Jungkook makes the remark that he sounds like Yoongi, off-camera, you can hear someone stifling their wheezing laugh. Staff camera man is in on the joke and the documentary editors are too as they cut briefly to Yoongi eating take out chicken.

The editors were wrong for that! HAHAHAHAH!

Then Tae and Namjoon talk about and show us their living spaces and how they feel living on their own.

Namjoon is very particular about his space and he says its very precious to him. He says the way one curates their living space speaks a lot about their personality and taste. I agree 100%. He says he wants to show us his space so we can know what kind of person he is.

Tae says he decorated his own space, commissioning art pieces for it. He has an extensive collection of vinyl records and puts on a yellow vinyl disc that appears to be Betty Wright, a recording of a live performance. He says boredom can be a given when living alone and he says he looks for Small but Definite Happiness in his daily life. SDH. We should all strive to do that.

Then we're back at Jimin's and Jungkook is cooking more food, chopping vegetables. FYI, that Miele induction cooktop is about $3,500.

Watching Jimin retell the story of when one of his friends pointed out that he seemed depressed, was not himself, was one of the most revealing things we've ever heard from Jimin.

And now he feels he's in a very healthy place. I'm gonna elaborate on this in another blog post when I'm done with this series.

All in all, the members had to learn to live alone after living together for 8 years or more for some of them.

Yoongi reflects on running so hard in their 20s. He wonders if they shouldn't have enjoyed themselves more and not let the pressures become overwhelming. Regardless, now that he's reached 30, all those worries and thoughts have disappeared and he feels liberated.

I've realized some of these interviews for these episodes were conducted on the day they traveled from Seoul to Las Vegas because they are wearing the same clothing.

In 2022, Louis Tomlinson stepped on Chile for the first time alone to present his debut album "Walls". A bet that exceeded any expectation, because the madness was such that the British, that the former One Direction filled the Movistar Arena three times.

But that was not all, his fans had prepared a surprise for him that, as he confessed to La Cuarta, gave him "goosebumps." During the chorus of the song "Kill my mind", the young women organized themselves to coordinate the lights of their cell phones, creating a kind of mesmerizing wave, leaving the singer and his team speechless, so much so that the moment was recorded in his documentary "All of Those Voices". Moreover, the photo of one of those concerts was nothing more and nothing less than the poster.

But the music that makes him vibrate so much was not always his first choice in life. In 2013, just when the One Direction world tour that brought them to Chile was announced with two concerts at the National Stadium, Louis signed a contract with the League TwoDoncaster Rovers team, and only in 2017, two years after the group took an indefinite break, he was able to debut as a substitute in a match witnessed by more than five thousand fans.

“It's really an honor to be in the club where I spent most of my childhood," he wrote at the time on his Twitter account. However, the boy's dream stagnated when in 2020 and in the middle of the pandemic, he decided to launch himself as a soloist. All of his former bandmates had done it; it was his time.

Thus Louis - whom we recognize with nostalgia, familiarity, and a psychological interest - became one of the most important artists of his generation, adding milestones such as a billion streams on Spotify, numerous awards and being in the Guinness World Records book for breaking the record for the most watched live broadcast concert of a male soloist.

"I FEEL VERY GRATEFUL TO HAVE THAT LOVE HERE"

On the day of the interview with the newspaper, we arrived at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel where the interpreter stayed two days after a successful presentation at Tecate Pa'l Norte 2024 in Mexico, and a promotional step through Brazil. Despite the fatigue, he maintained a good attitude with the press, but mainly with his crowded fans outside the venue, who shouted his name from time to time.

Being in front of a pop idol who has spent half of his life on tour, in conferences and with a handful of iconic songs that marked more than a generation, is truly intimidating, but Louis makes anyone lower their guard because he welcomes you as if he were your friend. Wearing a pair of relaxed jeans, black t-shirt and sneakers in tune, he smiles and greets us in a friendly manner. Although he is surrounded by people who make up his team— overwhelming— but this is his natural environment; and thus begins a dialogue with La Cuarta about his two passions.

Q: Louis, you return to Chile in May after filling three arenas on your last visit, something historic! What will it be like to return with that powerful precedent?

Louis: I feel like my Spanish is coming back! I almost knew what you were asking (laughs). I'm very excited, I feel very lucky to be able to perform in an enclosure of that size in my... well, technically on my second solo tour. I feel very grateful to have that love and passion here. I'm mainly very excited about these shows.

Q: In several of your "Faith In the Future" songs, you talk about nostalgia, changes and the passage of time. Are they topics that you think about frequently or only arise when composing?

Louis: Yes, I would say that I am a little bit of a deep thinker. I think it helps me as a songwriter, but I also think that nostalgia is a great thing to write about. It’s a great topic to feel as a listener and also to write as a songwriter. And I'm also interested in psychology, so anything that makes the brain feel in a certain way, I think it's interesting.

Q: What would the 32-year-old Louis with a successful second album under his arm and a new tour say to the teenager who applied to The X Factor in 2010?

Louis: I would insist that he should do it. I think there is definitely an element, in every young person in that situation, there is something very terrifying that makes you want to start. But I would also tell you, what I have learned the most, to trust your instinct, trust that feeling and be brave to make decisions, the right decisions for yourself.

Q: Among those decisions is to be the last 1D member to make your solo career, and today we are here with "Faith In The Future" that sounds 100% yours. Looking back, how do you see the path has unwinded?

Louis: I feel very comfortable. The mentality I have now feels very different from the one I had when I started this trip as a soloist. I feel very blessed to be able to continue making music. But it's also a very nice feeling and it's something very new for me to feel so comfortable on stage and so comfortable when I'm making the music I want to make. In general, yes, I am very happy.

WHEN CHILE DRISTLED HIS SKIN

Q: Louis, I imagine there must be some time in your career when you said, wow, I did it!

Louis: You know, I used to resist that idea, ‘cuz for whatever reason, I don't know, I never wanted to give myself that, I suppose… my brain. But I have, I have started trying to have those moments more for myself. It often happens on the live show. It can be something that fans did together, like some kind of fan project. But also, even when I played the festival just now, in Mexico, that was one of those moments. I was kind of nervous going out there, and the audience was so vast, but people seemed to be having a good time. So yeah, it was great.

Q: Now that you mentioned the fan project, when you came to Chile, your followers prepared one for the song "Kill My Mind" that was beautiful. How did you experience it from the stage?

Louis: I had no idea that was going to happen! I know that fans often do their own little fan projects, in a way of doing something fun for me and something unique at every individual show, but I didn't know what to expect. And to be honest, that— literally gave me goosebumps, it was such an incredible spectacle. And, again, like always at these shows, and especially in Latin America, you’ve not got like ten people giving it a go, everyone in the room is participating! It’s a very euphoric thing for me to see from the stage.

Q: Changing the subject, football is one of your passions, what place does it occupy in your life today?

Louis: I would say that definitely, before I was in the band, nothing came close in my life, football was my IT. Now music is. I absolutely love football, but for me nothing comes close to music. Obviously it's my job, that's important, but as a fan, I'm talking more like a fan, I probably don't watch enough football these days, I'm usually busy, but I catch up with the "highlights" (the most important moments of the game). It's still a big part of my life, especially when they play in England. I'm excited for the next European Championship. We're going to win it!

Q: Of course! [England] is the parents of football. Finally, what makes you happiest today?

Louis: The family, definitely, the family and friends. And specifically in my work world. It's live concerts. That gives me amazing feelings.

Laken had always been a workaholic, but that was just her nature. From an early age she knew that only with hard work you could achieve something great. That's why, while her peers were playing video games or going to parties, she was stuck in books. She believed that such nonsense as fun or romance only distracted from learning and didn’t bring anything useful. To people Laken was quite cold and abrupt, which is why she made virtually no friends, let alone any relationships. She also turned up her nose when her schoolmates bragged about the things they bought that she considered unnecessary; she put every money she earned (e.g. scholarships for excellent academic results; she also had a few part-time jobs in high school) into a deposit so that she could buy an apartment in the future. Her hard work paid off, because she got into one of the most prestigious universities in the world - Harvard. During her studies of course she got straight A's, ran two student clubs, took various courses, and engaged in volunteering - all this to have a perfect CV and find an ambitious and well-paid job in which she could constantly develop.

Everything was going great until suddenly the Covid-19 pandemic came and Laken's world collapsed nearly overnight. As the chief technophobe of her generation, she was unable to find her way in the new situation, because first the whole world seemed to stop - shops were closed, classes at university were not held, and then technically everyone switched to remote communication, working and learning. Moreover, it suddenly turned out that Laken had basically no one around her to whom she could turn and complain. Ok, she had parents and a brother, but they were far away in another state (Wisconsin, she lived in Boston due to her studies). She realized that she was terribly lonely. This is how Laken, always motivated and mentally strong, fell into depression. She spent all days at home, ate poorly and took a dean’s leave from the university so as not to have to deal with all those Zooms or Google Meets and somehow survive the difficult situation. She only went to the store occasionally; during one of these outings she walked into a deserted park, sat on a bench and started crying. All the previously hidden emotions came out. Suddenly she heard a quiet voice above her saying her name. It was Laken's friend from college - Claire, who couldn't believe that she was seeing Laken Dahl crying in front of her - the same Laken who had always been extremely strong, intimidating and believed to be a robot. Claire however said that it's okay to cry and that she had been going through a hard time too, because her beloved grandparents died of Covid. This made them both cry and then Laken began to speak. She had never said so many words at once before. She found comfort in Claire's eyes full of compassion and understanding. They promised each other that they would stay in touch and Claire gave Laken the contact details of her psychological clinic, where reportedly good specialists worked. Laken was full of doubts at first; she didn't like talking about her feelings with anyone, after all. However, she broke down and went to the clinic to give herself a chance to recover. Thanks to Claire's recommendation, Laken got a job as a hotel receptionist, thus gaining some source of money and an excuse to talk to people. Together they also signed up to volunteer at a local animal shelter.

Days, months, then a year passed. Gradually, the pandemic subsided and the world opened up again, and with it Laken. Thanks to therapy, as well as work and friendship with Claire, her well-being was back on track, but this time she decided to cut herself some slack. She realized that she didn't really know what she was living for. Ok - work, money, but in the end you don't live to work, you work to live, i.e. travel, start a family, make your dreams come true. But what exactly were her dreams? Now Laken is ready to get to know herself better, finally find a hobby and a sense of existence. She looks at the world way more positively than before. That's why she decided to do something different and crazy, which was to take part in Cornelia's BC. Will Cornelia help Laken learn the truth about herself?

After the ending of filming of Scream 5 on 2020 and the many delays due to the pandemic and the different variants of the virus, the film was already out which gained a good reception, and the sixth one was green lighted to film, you and your dad traveled to Montreal (due to both of you being on the movie) to reunite with the cast and meet the new additions of the cast

Arriving at the hotel where the rest of the crew will be staying, you and your dad left your luggage in your asigned room before going to the terrace where everyone will be there

"Don't you think is funny that they are going to let us stay during the whole filming even though we're only going to appear for a few minutes?", you asked your dad while walking to the terrace

"It's a bit funny, but it would be better than be her only for a day", Skeet pointed, "We get to hang out with everyone, and you are now free of doing homework"

"So this would be my graduation trip?", you joked, "With people who are a bit older than me, and some even married?"

"Yeah!", Skeet exclaimed, "We could call your friends and invite them to come here and hang out, and maybe there's going to be someone your age, remember that are some new actors"

"Dad, Sarah, Abby, Scott and Noah are already on college or doing what they wanted", you replied, "And maybe you're right, besides, I haven't seen who the new actors are, I was kinda focused on the fact that aunt Neve isn't going to be here"

"It's going to be difficult to have a movie without her, but she made a good decision by rejecting a payment that isn't worth her value", Skeet pointed, "That's a lesson I want you and your siblings to have no matter what you do in your future, understood?"

Nodding in response, both of you continued to walk until the door to the terrace was seen, which both of you crossed seeing the whole cast in the lounge area

"There's the freshly graduated!", Melissa exclaimed the moment both of you enter her camp of vision

"Half fictional sister!", you exclaimed running to hug her, "I missed you"

"I missed you too", Melissa replied, "Congratulations on the graduation and the campaign with H&M"

"Thank you, also congratulations on the Clinique ambassador"

After saying a general hi, and seeing how there wasn't any apparent seats because your dad took the only one left, you stood akwardly in the middle of the lounge

"There's a space next to Jack", Melissa said pointing behind you

Turning around, you saw a curly haired (and cute) boy smiling and waving at you, at what you walked there to sit next to him while he made more space for you to not be too thight

"Hi, I'm Jack", he presented himself handing out one of his hands, "Nice to meet you"

"I'm Y/N", you responded taking his hand, "Nice to meet you too"

After knowing Jack more after that first night and the first week of filming which started with the Halloween party (in which you had a small interaction with Jack and Mason's characters), yours and Jack so awaited date was on saturday (in which both of your parents were going to be there but giving you space)

Early that day, after having breakfast, you recieved a floral arrangement from Jack with a small note that read:

Can't wait for our date tonight, in the meanwhile, I send you this arrangement that made me think of you

Due to the bit of chill weather of Montreal during afternoon, you decided to use a light blue drawstring long sleeve crop top and washed black high waist straight leg jeans with white nike air force ones and your hair lose on the back

"Hey dad", you called him getting out of the bathroom, "Do you think I'm underdressed for a date?"

"Nah, you look good to go to an amusment park", Skeet shrudded, "Wait a minute, are you nervous?"

"A bit", you sighed returning to the bathroom to do your eyeliner, "I mean, this is my first date after Spencer and I broke up, and that was a three month relationship during sophomore year, so yeah, I'm nervous"

"You like Jack", that wasn't even a question

"Maybe", you admited, "Do you think the black Prada nylon purse is too much?"

"That's a cute bag, goes good with the outfit"

After being ready and taking your purse and 'folklore' cardigan, both of you went down to the hotel lobby where Jack and his mom, Anna, were waiting for you

"They're here", Anna said to Jack brushing his hair a little, "She looks beautiful"

"Hi", Jack greeted when you stopped in front of him, "You look gorgeous"

"Hi", you replied with a smile, "Thanks, you look good as well, and thank you for the flowers, they're beautiful"

"I'm glad you liked them"

A few minutes later, the four of you started the way towards La Ronde, which was the most popular amusement park in the city

Arriving there, both of you entered the park with your parents following a few metters behind

"I like your cardigan", Jack said pointing at the piece of clothing in your arms

"Thanks", you smiled, "It's from Taylor Swift's album 'folklore', she has a song in that album named 'Cardigan' and she had them on the website"

"So, you like Taylor?"

"I love her, she's one of my favorite artist, she has amazing songs and the fact she always rises up whenever someone or something tries to drag her down is inspiring"

"In that case, what's your favorite album of her?"

"Reputation, followed close by Speak Now and folklore, so, what's your type of music?"

"Like angry hip hop, Meek Mill is awesome and Drake's old music, and basically every kind"

"I've heard some Drake songs, but nothing of Meek Mill"

"I could send you some of his songs, what do you think?"

"Sounds good, and I could send you some of Taylor"

"I love the idea"

Walking around the place and talking, both of you stopped in a game of knocking down silly clowns

"Which one do you want?", Jack asked refering to the stuffed animals

Seeing the display of toys, a red plushie caught your eyes, "The red dragon is cute"

Paying to play the game, Jack started to throw the balls towards the silly clowns until the time was over

"Nice arm", you smirked while the employee went to get the prize

"It's what happens when you live in Pandora for four years", Jack joked making you laugh, slightly interrupting the moment, the employee gave Jack the red plushie, at what he knelt like he was a knight with the red dragon in front of you, "Will this gorgeous princess accept this dragon as a gift?"

"I'll gladly do it", you laughed taking the plushie from his hands, "And fun fact, people calls me 'ghostface princess' or 'serpent princess' because of Scream and Riverdale"

"In the Avatar future movies, people call my character 'monkey boy'"

"I like it"

Continuing with the date, both of you went to some rides like the Disco Ronde, La Grande Envolée, Orbite, Bateau Pirate, Condor and Vol Ultimate (in which most of them both of you held hands), eating some snacks and playing in a game of jungle climb where none of you won but it was fun

(A/N: yes, I did search what rides are in the park)

Taking a moment to have dinner, which were corndogs, sodas and an ice cream from the food stands, both of you sat in a small picnic table while discussing which attraction was next and last because it was getting late

"I think we should go to the Boomerang", you thought while sharing a cotton candy ice ream

"Let me guess, to leave with a gold brooch", Jack smiled

"Yeah", you laughed, "What do you think?"

"I think it's an awesome idea"

Finishing the ice cream and throwing the empty vase on the trash, both of you went to your parents, who were sitting in a bench a few metters behind to let them know

"Hey, we're going to the Boomerang", Jack announced

"Are you sure?", Anna asked with concern

"Yeah", you nodded giving Skeet your purse, cardigan and plushie

"Guys, you just ate", Skeet pointed

"We're going to be good", Jack insisted while you put your hair in a low ponytail

"There's a bit of line, so the food will be digested by the time it starts", you shrudded

Assuring them once again that both of you will be fine, you left towards the ride with Jack's arm over your shoulders and yours circling his waist

"We should start searching for a trash can", Anna said, "Just in case"

Looking around, Skeet noticed a trash can not so far from the bench, which he was quick to get closer to the bench

At the line for the roller coaster, it wasn't a lot of time of waiting before it was your turn, ending up seating in the first line of the fourth cart

After the coaster staff secured your seatbelts and the ride started at what you started to feel a little nervous, something Jack noticed which made him take your hand in an attempt to calm you at what you hold him tighter

Noticing why the name of the ride was 'Boomerang' because of his fast speed, curves and turns, both of you spend most part of the ride trying not to scream and holding each other

After it ended and you were free of the seatbelts, both of you practically sprinted towards the closest trash can to start throwing up, feeling a few seconds later how your parents aproached to you see if both of you were okay, finishing vomiting a few minutes later

Making sure that the puking was done, they led you to the bench they were sat before going to get some water

Getting some kleenex from your purse and giving one to Jack so he can clean and do the same, both of you started laughing

"I really had fun", you said when the laughs were over, "We should do this again"

"Seriously?", Jack asked with a bit of surprise

"Yeah, I mean, except for the vomiting part"

"I also had fun with you"

Still smiling, you got a little closer to him to put your head on his shoulder at what he put his head on top of yours

I had known about Cait's apartment being "empty" for some time, so no surprise!!!

What do you think about Anon? Some people knew about that address, even before it was published in the company register. Do you think Cait would stay in that apartment after the Coffee Run pics? Do you really think other people haven't been there? Even during the pandemic?! Well... Think again!!!

Why aren't there photos of Cait and Tony in there? Or do you really think that all Antis/Onlys are so "respectful"? There are many women in this fandom more involved in their rivalries than concerned about Cait and Sam.

That apartment and the other, which Cait lived in and Sam later bought, became bait for this fandom, over time. Caitríona and Sam know... Cawdermill House for example is the Sassenach "Graceland" 😜🤣

I think that when Sam and Caitríona want privacy, they have the means of how to do it... Property(ies) that no one knows location, hotels/airbnbs/friend's houses to serve as a decoy to confuse/tease this fandom...

And about her new project... I hope it's not another "mom", because nobody deserves Caitríona being Claire without being, not even Caitríona. She needs something different, a challenge. And I hope she and her PR team don't screw up the promo, nobody deserves another Vanity Fair fiasco. Seriously, Caitríona is better than that.

The long story of why you became Taylor Swift's fan?

i was 12 years old when saw her performing tim mcgraw at the cmas on tv and i begged and begged and begged my mom for her cd for christmas and i GOT it i was so happy i played that album everyday for like a year.

when fearless came out, i used my own christmas money to buy it. i spent all christmas day playing it on my new ipod nano

for speak now, i preordered one of the album bundles and i still remember how excited i was the day it arrived. i wore that chunky plastic speak now bracelet for months. (i saw speak now in milwaukee the summer i was 17. i cried so much though the whole concert haha)

when red dropped i skipped my college class to walk to the local walgreens so i could buy it. i had no money, but i even shelled out for a red shirt while i was there.

when 1989 came out i spent hours in the car in the driveway of my house after work just to listen to it. i remember driving laps around my small home town with blank space on repeat.

when reputation came out, i begged my coworker to cover for me so i could run to the target at our mall so i could buy it on release day; that night me and my cousin drank wine and blasted it through our whole apartment.

when lover dropped, i was in a hotel room, listening to it with my best friend who lives 1000 miles away and stayed up just to listen to it with me because she knows how much i love taylor swift.

for folklore and evermore i was alone in my single room apartment crying over so many of the lyrics. im a flight attendant; i was working on the front lines during the pandemic. those albums brought such comfort.

and finally, midnights. stayed up again all night streaming it with my best friend. we texted lyrics back and forth all night long.

with every album taylor has released, its only made me love her more. im 29 now. im a writer; i would say her lyrics have influenced so much of the way i approach writing and how i channel emotions into it. and, shes just always been a part of my life. i feel so lucky to live in a timeline where she not only exists but is finally thriving and getting the love and recognition she deserves.

This is not an all-inclusive list, there are tons of regulations meant to protect us he has overridden, countless people he has insulted, untold number of norms he has violated and more. At least this is a starting point though of why you should not vote to give him four more years. If he is reelected it will be an incomprehensible disaster for this country.

So read over this short list one more time and go vote for Kamala Harris.

Vote for decency and competence.

Phoebe is here because she’s dreamt of coming for years―she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him. Meanwhile, the bride has accounted for every detail and every possible disaster the weekend might yield except for, well, Phoebe―which makes it that much more surprising when the women can’t stop confiding in each other.

In turns uproariously, absurdly funny and devastatingly tender, Alison Espach’s The Wedding People is a look at the winding paths we can take to places we never imagined―and the chance encounters it sometimes takes to reroute us.

my review:

After an earth-shattering divorce and a slow-growing hatred of her job, Phoebe Stone makes an impromptu decision to fly to Rhode Island and stay at the Cornwall Inn so she can have a perfect last day before attempting suicide. However, her plans go awry after being mistaken as one of the wedding guests and the hotel and meeting the bride, Lila, who ropes her into the wedding as a means of begging her not to ruin her big day. Phoebe quickly gets wrapped up in the festivities, especially after meeting the groom Gary and his family.

I loved the writing; you really feel like you’re in Phoebe’s head as she falls into a depression after a seemingly-out-of-nowhere divorce. This book also touches on the pandemic, which usually bothers me, but it’s a necessary part of this story since it reinforces the isolation that she goes through that culminates in her decision to attempt suicide. Phoebe’s narration is also very witty amidst the awkward situations that come up during the wedding.

All of the characters felt so real too. Phoebe’s an English professor who is very good with people and just trying to find what makes her happy after she realizes that what she was told would complete her life won’t. Lila is a spoiled, neurotic bride who is used to getting anything she wants, but through Phoebe’s eyes, you also see how her need to control everything masks her insecurity. Gary is a widower and fundamentally a good man who understands everything Phoebe means without her having to say it.

“Hello Team Niall.” Niall introduced as they all waved and greeted him back. “Well, I've got a bit of news for you. Because of my concert schedule, I actually won't be in town for knockout rehearsals.” Everyone was shocked… and rightfully so. “Because I won't be there, I've chosen another coach to come in and mentor you guys for rehearsal.” Everyone started to freak out wondering who on earth it might be. 

“And they have been in your place before so I think they’ve got exactly what you need.”

The scene changed to the all too familiar practice room with an empty directors chairs. The sounds of steps progressively got louder until the special person appeared. 

“I'M BACK!” 

But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's rewind a bit.

A day or two after The Voice Finale

“Hi I’m Maia Quinn, and I'm the Season 23 winner of The Voice, and we're hanging out with Rob on Front Row Live.”

“Go with me.” Niall moaned into your mouth as you straddled him. “Where?” you question kissing down his neck. “Boston. I know it's last minute and we’d leave in the morning-” you shut him up with a kiss and a roll of your hips, his hands tightening against your thighs. “Just wake me up an hour before we leave.”

Sitting at the desk of you and Niall’s shared hotel room the morning of May 26th  you had early interviews to get through before you were meant to go to the festival. You looked over the camera to see Niall already looking at you.

“Maia congratulations. What a night you had a few nights ago.” Rob praised and you smiled adjusting your airpod. “I am super excited for you and your career and your future. Especially because you're starting so young. You have enough time to kind of like, continue to evolve, and understand your voice; learn a lot more about yourself throughout this process. Talk to me about this process of your experience here on the voice and how you've evolved as a vocalist and a performer.” The interview was more than you could ever imagine. 

“Now your relationship with Niall this season has had fans going crazy. From the after performance hugs to the duet, and the after party, what can you tell us about that?”

You saw Nialls face peak over the laptop screen and stayed neutral. “Niall has been the most supportive and very encouraging. He has become one of my best friends through this whole journey. I lost a lot of my confidence during the pandemic unfortunately. It made me think that I would never be able to do things that I certainly could do and Niall- all these years later- has been there to remind me that I probably can do them, and then make me do it. So our friendship and relationship has been so important to me. He is my best friend across the charts and he’d hate me for saying this, but I wouldn't be here without him.” 

“Last question before we go. Is there anything we can look forward to seeing soon? Maybe another EP?”

You smiled glad you were able to share some information on what was coming next. “All I'll say now is, look for me on stage back home.” you winked dramatically knowing those who would get it would get it.”

“That's amazing, I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled. It was so great having you on. I hope to see you in person soon.”

“Bye!”

Being at Boston Calling with him

“Boston, Massachusetts, how you doing?” he asked the crowd after he finished ‘Heaven’. The loud response made him smile excitedly. “Holy shit! This is crazy.” you face palmed knowing he was going to slip up sooner or later. “Thank you all so much for coming out to see me. I really appreciate it.” they cheered again as he sipped his water. You watched as he looked at the amount of people and a smile formed on your face.

 “This is uhm- this is actually my first ever Festival.” he let out a breath at the realisation. “I've definitely been drunk at a few.” you laughed at him with the rest of the crowd. “But I've never played at any and for that reason I'm absolutely shitting myself.” he said looking at you knowing you would calm him, and him seeing you laugh did just the trick. 

“But thank you for being here. I know some of you guys have been queuing for years.” he looked around at the signs “My girlfriend showed me this earlier ‘i travelled four thousand miles to be here from Brazil’ your eyes went wide at the declaration and the deafening screams were present. He subtly looked in your direction and saw your reaction, his worry diminished as he saw you smiling making him smile. “Makes you feel bad from coming just down the road doesn't it? ‘I came from round New York’.” he mocked, “awe who cares.” he laughed with them and you hid a big smile behind your hands.

You walked the same route you came flashing your pass when you reached the gate and made your way in to see Niall. When you saw him you squealed and ran over to him. He turned when he heard you and caught you in his arms as you wrapped your legs around his waist and he spun you both around hands on the swell of your bum.

“I'm so proud of you!” you screamed and he laughed before he was kissing you passionately. It was quick as many more pecks through giggles followed. “I can not explain to you how happy i am.” he whispered in shock as you were sitting in the trailer behind the stage and he was getting changed. “You should be so happy, my love. That was incredible, and I am so so proud of you.” he smiled at you before grabbing your hand and kissing the ring on it. “You make me so happy, baby girl.” you melted at his words and stood up to kiss him softly. “And you make me the happiest girl, Ni.”

You surprising Niall at his Zane Lowe interview and him outing you 

You knew Niall was disappointed when you told him you wouldn't be able to make it to his Zane Lowe interview today. He was really excited for this one and wanted you to be there. It was only a few days later that you flew from Boston down to LA for the interview. You were working on last minute stuff for the announcement today and you were nowhere close to done when he was getting ready to leave.

“I'm sorry love.” you kissed his pout away as you both stood by the door of his  LA house. “I know, it’s okay. I know why you can’t make it, and for that I am so very proud.” he melted his lips against yours as your hands went to the curls on the back of his neck and he wrapped his went straight to your bum.

Niall was watching Zane play his songs and the guitar with a big smile a few hours after he left. “There are some pretty songs on this record bro.” Zane complimented as he switched playing from ‘The Show’ to ‘You could start a cult’. You who had just made it into the studio to surprise Niall were standing behind the glass watching him, waiting for him to notice. 

“Thank you very much.'' He cut through Zanes music. “This one kills me.” Zane admitted as Niall caught on to what he was playing. “Yeah.” he cheered Zane on softly, finally noticing you. You saw his smile widened and you waved softly. “You Could Start A Cult.” he named distractedly, still looking at you as if he looked away you would disappear.

“Kingdoms fighting over you,” Niall continued. “I think that like they’re the ones- that could have very easily been, ‘ i like waking up beside you and you're my favourite person.” he joked easily. “But ‘you could start a war’.” you shook your head at his lyrical genius. “Do you ever crack yourself up with it?”

‘Yeah it was something silly at first but now everyone's obsessed with it. It started with me and my girlfriend now, when we met we would watch crime shows together over facetime,” he exposed and you chuckled at his laugh.

‘You say girlfriend now, sorry if i'm over stepping but..” zane trailed off

“No,” he shrugged off looking at you, who nodded, “she was not my girlfriend at the time, she is now, is what that meant.”

“So did she not know the song was for her?”

“She didn't know any song was for her- or about her I should say. The road from when we met to now has been a very dark windy tunnel, but we made it to the other end.”

“That's beautiful Niall, truly.” You smiled at him agreeing with Zane.

“This was the last song on the record that we wrote.” Niall confessed, and you wondered why. “Why, what was missing?” and without hesitation he pointed to you, “her.” Zane looked to where he was pointing and you waved happily at him. He waved back to you just as happy before turning to Niall with a face of shock. “No?” he gasped and Niall laughed, throwing his head back. “Yeah, I know. A throw back ask if I may. I myself have only just fallen down the BL rabbit hole ( what was life before this?) and currently watching 1000 stars with Earth and Mix. ( Mix is adorable, is that adorableness even legal?)

And I wanted to know if you did a Color theory for this show? Because I know Tian seems to be a Blue boy but the others are confusing me ALOT! and I know there is something very telling with these torches and fire lanterns but I’m sure you have/can put it into much better wording than I ever could!

Short answer - I got nothing for ya!

Long answer - I got something for ya!

Let me start with some of my nothing-to-do-with-colors items:

Tian's growing heart is on full display when the waitress spills red wine on his suit right where his new heart is beating.

And while filming the scene where Phupha gives Tian his heart (the ring), Mix actually passed out from stress and the weather. In the BTS for the episode, Earth, in character, yells at Tian to stop counting the stars, then Mix's body goes limp, and immediately Earth begins to yell Mix's name. Aof, the director, called cut, and everyone rushed to Mix, while people had to console Earth because he was upset and crying.

So in the sake of transparency, it was hard to focus on the colors in A Tale of Thousand Stars knowing the issues the crew faced working during a pandemic to bring us such a masterpiece.

But also, the cinematographer for the series was Rath Roongrueangtantisook who tends to rely more on lighting the situation rather than wardrobe to color code the characters (although the colors still mean something on the clothing).

For example, the distance (coldness) Jim and Wen had at the beginning of Moonlight Chicken versus the love (warmth) they had at the end, which was seen with the other characters as well.

Or how angry and pained Nueng was until Palm showed up and subdued his color in Never Let Me Go

It even happened when Nueng left Palm in the hotel. He stepped back into red from the purple.

Rath documents some of these instances on his Instagram and usually writes about trying to catch the natural light for the perfect effect.

The most color coding he has done based on a characters' personality rather than the situation was in Dark Blue Kiss.

But even then he still used lighting to reflect the merging of feelings.

So what *I* noticed more in A Tale of Thousand Stars was the lighting of situations which was reinforced by the fire from the torches and lanterns (you're about to get a lot of innuendos).

Like in episode three, when the heat starts rising between Tian and Phupha

Only for Tian to turn away, so both end up awkward and distant in the blue, with some heat coming from Phupha and most of the coldness coming from Tian (notice their shirts' colors)

The clothing supported the narrative, so Tian putting a red blanket over both of them in an attempt to "warm up" (to) Phupha reinforced the situation

And we immediately get an exterior shot of the house lit up

The more we see Tian warm up to Phupha, the more we see him in warm colors compared to his normal cool colors, while Phupha was always a solid earth boy with greens and browns due to his uniform.

Like when Phupha outs Tian to the entire village, we see Tian back in his blues as he returns Torfun's orange journal (the source of his heartbeat and a wearer of warm colors) to Phupha

I'm not claiming Tian and Phupha were the reason for the school going down in flames, but Tian asking Phupha if he wanted Tian to stay longer all while EarthMix eye-fucked each other in that specific way they can only do which concluded with Tian giving Phupha his pouch did make the temperature rise in my house, so I can't imagine what it did to that little wooden school.

But look at the difference in the lighting and clothing between Tian realizing his feelings for Phupha versus Phupha denying his feelings for Tian:

Even when Tian leaves to go home in the same shirt he arrived in, instead of seeing the blue sleeves, they are covered by Phupha's green.

However Tian returns, and this time, Phupha literally and figuratively steps up and admits his feelings for Tian by asking him to stay.

And Phupha and Tian's world is once again lit up as Phupha begs Tian to sleep in the bed with Tian.

But they get "blue-balled" by Yod

So we just have to remember the moments that brought the 🔥🔥🔥

And the moments when their love for each other lit up the screen

On the Brazilian Coast, a Tropical Town Beloved by Artists and Makers

A guide to Paraty, on the Costa Verde, with tips on where to stay, shop and island hop from the artist Vik Muniz and four other insiders.

Roughly halfway between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the coastal town of Paraty (population 45,000) isn’t the easiest place to reach. It requires a four-hour, mostly mountainous drive from either city, a 45-minute helicopter charter or arrival by sea. It’s that relative seclusion that keeps the tourist hordes and unbridled development at bay, despite the town’s obvious appeal. Set on Brazil’s Costa Verde, with mountains covered in rainforest on one side and the emerald green waters of Ilha Grande Bay on the other, Paraty (pronounced para-CHEE by locals), preserves more than 30 blocks as its historic quarter, a grid of pedestrian-only cobblestone streets lined with whitewashed 18th- and 19th-century facades, many of them remnants of the Portuguese colonial era.

Startingin the mid-1600s, the town grew prosperous as a seaport during the country’s gold rush (many of the biggest gold mines were in the neighboring inland state Minas Gerais) — and as a hub for the slave trade. African slaves not only worked in the mines but built much of the town’s early infrastructure, such as its roads. Once the gold stopped coming through Paraty for export in the early 1700s, the town continued to harvest sugar cane and produce cachaça, the national spirit, before shifting its economic focus to the coffee trade. At the end of the 19th century, Santos, 190 miles to the south, supplanted Paraty as the country’s primary coffee-exporting port, and the town began to languish. “It fell off the map,” says Luana Assunção, the owner of the Rio-based travel company Free Walker Tours. “It became isolated and poor. Many houses were abandoned.”

By the 1970s, a new highway and an influx of urban transplants had given Paraty an infusion of new life. Lured by the area’s affordability, a number of artists, designers and other creative types began renovating the old mansions and opening a handful of galleries, boutiques, cafes and small hotels, turning the long-forgotten town into an alluring vacation destination.

“I was worried that mass tourism would endanger the future of the culture and the nature in Paraty, but it didn’t happen,” says the nature photographer Dom João de Orleans e Bragança, who has been visiting Paraty since 1968 and now lives there most of the year. He credits the strict building codes for imbuing the town with a certain timeless quality, even after the pandemic when the area’s second-home owners began spending more time in Paraty. “You’ll never see a skyscraper, and we don’t have big resorts or hotels here.”

Do you think your sims would have survived the lockdown part of covid? I know we all pretty much lost our minds. Do you think any of them would have been the type that "took advantage" of the time?

honestly i don't know when 2020 would've fit into the timeline so i'm basically fudging this whole thing lmao

oh beth & caroline would've been REALLY close to filing for divorce. with cara being a tattoo artist, she would've been completely out of work and beth would've been working from home (she's a children's therapist) but there are no extra rooms in the house to use as an office, so she would've had to either use the computer in the living room/dining room/kitchen which would be a major privacy issue, or set it up in their bedroom which is super small. they were already having relationship issues at that time, but being trapped in such close quarters..... they would be at each other's throats... and they wouldn't even be able to have crazy makeup sex (the only tried and true solution to their problems fjksjd) because asa is in the next room doing virtual school 😭 btw asa definitely started making bread from scratch and promised himself he would keep doing it after life went back to normal (he did not).

stevie would still be working. KD would have let her stay home, but stevie would be desperate to get out of the house (oh my god her parents would be insufferable) and not be lonely anymore. you know that tiktok that's like "you think you can hurt my feelings but it was my job to enforce the cracker barrel mask mandate as a 17 yo butch lesbian" literally that but "it was my job to enforce the mask mandate for rural american truck drivers as a 16 yo trans girl" 🫡

elaine and jada are lucky because their bedroom windows face each other, so they could technically see each other. elaine would've fallen down the skincare rabbit-hole and completely ruined her skin in a matter of months (me too girl...... happened to the best of us) and jada would've had time to make tons of art, but she would have extreme art block and spend most of her time just laying in bed being anxious (again. me too girl.)

i guess casper would still be in high school, and sadie was still just a toddler. danny had already been working from home for years, so it would be nothing new for him

mikaela is a pediatric nurse at a hospital, so i don't really want to go into detail about how emotionally damaging that time must've been :( she would be working nonstop and i think she wouldn't even want to go home afterwards for fear of transferring germs. she might have stayed in a hotel during the peak of things

i'm gonna be honest i think 2020 would've been the worst year of coco's life because her boyfriend had cancer and was going through chemo, so obviously she could not be anywhere near him unless she was willing to be 100% quarantined with him, which she couldn't do because she needed to work. she had people counting on her. and she had.... a lot of other stuff going on too, some of which would've been affected by a pandemic but i can't really go into detail about that

and finally i have to state the obvious -- people died, no matter how careful they or their families were, and sometimes it didn't even matter how healthy they were before covid hit. i had family members who were immunocompromised get covid and i thought they wouldn't survive but they did, while other people in my life were only in their 40s/50s and healthy but they didn't survive. so in my mind, there's no point trying to guess how my characters would fare, and also it just feels icky in general. but it felt weirder to not acknowledge this at all, so. here's this ramble.

i also want to send love to anyone who continues to be affected by covid in a world that wants you to believe it's "over", whether that be from long covid, grief, being immunocompromised yourself, etc. i see you ♥

Drinking Tonight: Sam Abrams x Reader

Sam thinks that you saved his life, but the truth is, he saved yours.

There was a night during the pandemic that you thought about ending it all. You looked at the wine bottle you had been drinking from and you thought about how simple it would be to just slip away.

Sam had been staying at the hotel that the hospital had taken over. There were too many unknown factors when it came to COVID-19, he had told you; he couldn’t stand the idea of you getting sick from something that he may have brought home with him. What had started as a couple of weeks had turned into months.

Your life had shrunk to the confines of your home. You delivered your counselling sessions over Zoom, client after client after client all vocalising their pain, their anxiety, their fears. As a mental health professional, you were supposed to have supervisions every eight weeks but those disappeared completely because the system was overwhelmed by the need to help individuals. Nobody could keep up with their workloads. People were slipping through the cracks, and you had no way of helping them, you started to self-medicate, a bottle of wine each night to take the edge off your own guilt.

You hadn’t realised how isolated you had become. You stopped answering Sam’s calls because you couldn’t face talking to him, he was out there on the front-line helping people, and you were just sticking band aids on wounds that needed serious interventions.

The night that Sam comes home, you’re drunk.

The thing is you don’t drink at home, the two of you have the occasional glass of wine but you don’t usually keep alcohol in the house. When he sees three wine bottles congregated alongside the recycle bin, he knows that there’s a problem.

It’s been three months since he’s actually been in your presence, and it kills him that it’s taken him this long to realise that you’re suffering. He finds you passed out on the couch, the TV on in the background. There’s mascara smeared under your eyes and a half-drunk glass of wine on the coffee table.

“Hey, sweetheart.” He says lightly shaking you. “Let’s get you to bed.”

When you wake up to see Sam’s concerned features in your field of vision, you think you’re dreaming. It’s when he gives you that kind smile, his fingertips brushing your hair back behind your ear that you realise he’s actually there.

For a second you feel elation and then the shame rushes in. Your gaze comes to rest on that half drunk glass of wine just sitting there on the coffee table and you feel something inside you break. You fall apart completely, tears running down your cheeks as Sam lowers himself onto the couch along side of you and gathers you up into his arms.

You can’t say how good it feels to be held again, to have the man you love wrap his arms around you, his lips kissing away the salt on your cheeks. Sam has always been a safe space for you, and you find yourself telling him exactly what’s been going on in your head. How messed up things have gotten, how out of control you feel, how some days it’s hard to get out of bed because there’s no joy in the world anymore. There’s just pain, this constant stream of agony eating away at you day after day.

Talking about it helps, Sam is the one person you can rely on moments like this. The only person you can allow yourself to show weakness to, because to your friends and family you’re the strong one. The one that can handle anything.

The two of you make a plan.

He’s going to take a little time off work; you try to protest but he won’t have it. You and Lucy are the most important people in his life, if you’re hurting, he is too.  He books you an appointment with his colleague Doctor Charles, it’s nearly impossible to get a slot with a mental health professional but he manages it.

The two of you fall into a routine, you’ve forgotten how it feels to wake up with him, to exist in the same space. You cook together, healthy stuff because Sam knows that diet can be important when you’re in crisis. He buys you a journal, a pretty A5 book with flowers embossed on the cover for you to write down your thoughts and feelings because he read somewhere that it makes them more manageable. It’s the act of doing this that inspires you to start writing a blog and before you know it, you’re inundated with people telling you how they identify with your posts and how you’re genuinely helping them get through the day.

“Why not write a book?” Sam suggests one night when the two of you are cuddled up on the couch. You’re watching the Bake Off and both of you are being extremely judgemental about the state of some of the confections. “You practically have all of the material.”

“I’ll think about it.” You tell him as his lips brush over your forehead.

It’s a year later that you publish your first book.

I was catching up on some of last months posts and regarding where Barzal lives this is what I can share. So when he first moved to NY he stayed in his teammates basement in a house in garden city on Long Island. He would take girls home from bars when he was on breaks with his ex Danielle and have to take them to the garden city hotel because he couldn’t bring them to his teammates house where his wife and kids lived LOL. Then he moved to one of those sky rise apartment buildings in Long Island City near the piers which is technically Queens. During the pandemic he went back home to his parents house in Canada and when he got back to nyc he Then he moved to a luxury building on Long Island that’s close to garden city which is where that girl from tiktok was his neighbor I don’t wanna say the exact area for his / her privacy because I’m pretty sure he still lives there. He would go to the city a lot because Maya lived in the west village but I haven’t heard anything about him moving.
