People in the Statehumans fandom who make D.C. a direct embodiment of the US federal government, completely ignoring that D.C has its own culture and that the federal government has imposed policies upon D.C citizens AGAINST THE RESIDENTS' WILL are truly the weakest link, change my mind.

WEIRD’S HEADCANONS

Quick context: “Project MKUltra (or MK-Ultra) was an illegal human experimentation program designed and undertaken by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), intended to develop procedures and identify drugs that could be used in interrogations to weaken individuals and force confessions through brainwashing and psychological torture. It began in 1953, was reduced in scope in 1964 and 1967, and was halted in 1973. MKUltra used numerous methods to manipulate its subjects' mental states and brain functions, such as the covert administration of high doses of psychoactive drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals, electroshocks, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, and verbal and sexual abuse, in addition to other forms of torture.”

In 1955 DC was asked by the CIA to come to their headquarters so she could “look over some new information that they had discovered”. Instead she was drugged and kidnapped and they began experimenting on her for the program. They didn’t always have her captive, as others would notice, but they blackmailed her and threatened to experiment on her siblings if she tried to tell anyone.

The experiments done on her were probably slightly different considering she is a personification and it’s well known (at least in the CIA) that is possible for countries to kind control other countries via puppet states, or influence their thinking via satellite states. Martial law is the only example of where humans can control a personification, but that’s limited.

I picked Dee as their victim because A) known to the CIA, B) she’s not a state so they can hold her captive for longer without very many people looking for her, and even if they did they would be taken less seriously than the disappearance of a state, C) Dee trusted them, at least, as much as one did at the time. At the very least, they had more reason to call DC to their headquarters.

She was experimented on for about 10 years, and eventually it stopped as the CIA felt that they had collected enough information, and America has started to get concerned about her odd and erratic behaviors, which were becoming more common as the experiments continued.

When the details of MKUltra began coming to light after the Watergate scandal, DC was blamed for the program’s existence, as many Americans believe that she had the power to stop the program.

DC has developed memories issues because of the torture, as well as a hatred for needles. And it’s really common for her to be doing something, and then just stop and disassociate because of the trauma left being by the amount of drugs she was given. Her mind just kinda pauses on her. She also has developed a fear of doctors and the CIA, and does her best to avoid them.
