Gotta say I’m more underwhelmed by Starwatch than I expected to be. The refurbished map is cool and I love the employment of game mechanics like gravity wells and low gravity, and it’s cool that Doomfist gets to be a good guy this time, but I dunno. Even though I love space operas, it’s not the same vibe as Junkenstein’s revenge. Like that was at least a story being told by Reinhardt that felt like it had decent threads connecting back to the characters’ original personalities or at least Reinhardt being a silly unreliable narrator. Also Echo being so centric to the plot but not being employed as an actual component of the gameplay feels like a missed opportunity. Also I just feel like Space Prince Lúcio deserves better. He was cute in the comic but taking the game’s fan-favorite revolutionary and turning him into a cowardly rich boy is… not it. I thought he was going to be like Princess Leia :(.

General Lore of Halloween Terrors

Now before I get into the characters of Halloween Terrors let's start off with the general lore around the world of Halloween Terrors.

First off, what is the story?

Well the world of Halloween Terrors was initially a story told by Reinhardt during a Halloween party, in an effort to show up Cassidy's werewolf story;

However, considering how the story has progressed, I don't think that is just the case anymore. I think at this point the Halloween Terrors Universe is on the same playing field as Starwatch, that meaning I believe it is it's own separate universe.

Now what is the general backstory of this universe? Well let's start off with a few foot notes.

Before the events of Junkenstein there was a war, a war that The Gunslinger and The Solider talk about in voice lines, no other character mentions this war so it can be assumed that this war only happened in America.

The world and countries of this world are exactly the same as our own, at least existence wise. There are no renaming's of any countries.

There is no question in this universe on whether or not magic is real, magic is defiantly real. However, alchemy and divine channelling are not considered magic. Alchemy is considered science and divine channelling is considered a separate thing from magic.

It's not just Halloween monsters that are real in this universe but fantasy creatures as well, such as dragons.

Now with that out of the way let's get into the surface level story of Halloween Terrors.

The first event is Junkensteins Revenge, after being scorned and insulted by the king Dr. Junkenstein tries to prove him and everyone wrong by creating life. With body parts he acquired from The Butcher, he created his monster. However bringing it to life was proving to fail time and time again.

Until The Witch of the Wilds saw potential in him and gave him a magic crystal in exchange for his service to her;

After that Junkenstein's Monster was given life;

However as a reaction to this rampage Four Heroes appeared, The Gunslinger, The Archer, The Alchemist and The Solider. Together they banded together and put a stop the Junkenstein, his monster, The Witch and her minion The Reaper.

There was peace for a time...

But the Witch was not done, she herself wanted revenge and so she plunged Adlersbrunn into an eternal night;

Now initially four more heroes were called to aid, The Countess, The Viking, The Monk and The Swordsman. However, they were not enough as several other heroes ended up joining the fray. The Will-o'-the-wisp, The Outlaw, The Shield-maiden, The Renegade, along with the return of The Gunslinger and The Solider.

Eventually The Witch and her minions were defeated again and peace was restored.

Until Wrath of the Bride.

The Bride attacks Adlersbrunn and kidnaps the king, the only people to stop her? The Sleuth, The Outlaw, The Fortune-Teller and The Butcher.

Now I can't actually explain much about the story of The Bride without getting into theory territory and that's for another post.

After defeating The Brides allies and eventually The Bride herself, Adlersbrunn is once again at peace.

....But for how long?

It pains me that new players don’t get to experience Archives. They’re so much better than the shitty new OW2 event modes, including Starwatch and their new paid PVE. That’s back when we had decent people still employed at Blizzard working on the game, but they all quit.

I wouldn’t put it past those new greedy cunts to “re-release” Archives later for a price when they’ve been free and arguably everybody’s favourite for years.

With the star watch event going to be coming back for archives, I had an idea to draw my starwatch Genji but like.... Maybe some of the modifications he had done so infinite empire Genji ....gore artwork basically.... Would anyone be interested in early spooky month? xD

Overwatch 2 Season 4 Event Roadmap Breakdown

Season 4 of Overwatch 2 is keeping things going strong with a lot of events in the coming months! The season starts next Tuesday on April 11th, and will end on June 13th.

The season's headliners are the new Support hero Lifeweaver, and a Space Opera event theme with a corresponding event mode (more on that later) and many new skins and cosmetics to match, including the (imo sick as hell) Mythic skin: Galactic Emperor Sigma.

This season is jam-packed with new event modes, so let's go down the schedule for what we got in store these next nine weeks!

B.O.B. and Weave (April 11 to April 25): Starting off the season, this is a 3v3 mode where all players are Lifeweaver, and each team has to use his Lifegrip ability to move their respective friendly B.O.B. across the map to defeat enemies. Playing during this event will let you unlock the Cassia epic skin for Lifeweaver.

New Talantis Map (April 25 to May 1): Right after that, we get to play on the first ever community-made Overwatch map! Well, kinda. This (visually rudimentary) sub-aquatic map was created during the "Twitch makes Overwatch" stream back in December, and is going to be playable in the Arcade for a limited time.

Starwatch (May 9 to May 22): The season's headlining theme event, this 4v4 event will have teams fighting in a reworked Horizon Lunar Colony, taking allegiance to either the Watchers or the Infinite Empire to fight for control over the galaxy! The event is also getting an accompanying comic for its self-contained story!

Symmetra Challenge (May 23 to May 29): Not a ton of details, but this event is supposedly spring-themed, and lets you unlock the Gardener legendary Symmetra skin.

Battle for Olympus Returns (also May 23 to May 29): At the same time, Battle for Olympus returns, with a new Team Deathmatch variant as well! Have fun yelling at your team for not picking the singular healer option.

Pride Event (June 1 to...?): Least details for the last event of the season, Overwatch's first ever proper Pride event starts June 1st! More details are planned to be released later.

And that's what we got in store this season! A lot on the agenda this time around, with back-to-back-to-back events almost nonstop!

i KNOW i keep saying it but the idea of the starwatch event being like in-universe just a silly little play or something that all the heroes are getting together to put on for fun really just makes me smile. i just imagined everyone goofing off in costume or whatever ... same vibes to me of all those silly behind the scenes photos from movies and stuff where the cast is just dickin around or hanging out on set

At first I made a comment about how Starwatch was an attempt on doing a Star Wars crossover but Michael Rodent said no. But overhearing the voice lines and seeing the skins and events makes it a huge homage to the sci fi fantasy universe. Honestly is something that has been missed since the first Junkenstein era, having characters swap from good and evil and letting the voice actors really play around with the AU (Sigma especially, Boris is an underrated talent). Honestly want to watch some gameplay to see it myself but hopefully everyone is having their fun with it. Also how long until people are writing AUs with these new takes?

I have a bunch of hcs for a Starwatch AU, but I feel unhinged sharing them as it's all based on one-time event that was introduced to the game at like season 6

as for the ships, yeah, main being bapweaver, anahardt and zarmei/junkmei (i find both options super cute). Oh, a more obscure ship I really enjoy is Maximilien\Ramattra. Otherwise I don't really mind other ships

Do you think Emperor!Sig has the potential to have more evil tendencies? I feel like that with the way he’s shown (and what we’ve seen of him so far).

Well, since it’s a space opera, it’s more like a character he’s playing to me! But yes, it’s possible; we don’t know much about it yet, though. Trust that I will have more to say once the Starwatch event actually starts.
