idk I'm starting to come around to The Last Jedi a lot more. I really like the depiction of the Force as not just a vague "energy field" but as energy resulting from the tension between all things. The Force exists between life and death the way there's force in a string when you pull it at both ends. which raises questions about balance, of course. Life and death both pull on you, sure, but not equally. Darkness is always just beyond the edge, waiting for the light to go out. That's why the fight against the Dark Side is a constant struggle. You're fighting the natural tendency of the universe toward entropy. It makes the Jedi's insistence on isolating themselves and upholding a rigorous code make a lot more sense. It also explains why the Jedi so vastly outnumber the Sith. The light needs a lot more people to fight for it, while the dark just needs to wait. In that sense, though, Grey Jedi sound a lot more like political centrists than actually reasonable. Like they're fine with the dark as long as the light doesn't get too strong. It also explains why Yoda says "Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny". It's obviously not actually forever, because people can be redeemed, but the path to the Dark Side is a slippery slope. Every inch you give it pulls you twice as close

so. okay. i know nothing about pirates of the caribbean but someone just put gifs on my dash. and i look at them and go, hey, wait a minute, isn't that natalie portman? kinda looks sw prequels-y. and i go check the tags and turns out, padme amidala has fooled me once again: it is, in fact, keira knightley.

The SW prequels are so funny for trying to shoehorn so many references to the originals in there like wtf is Greedo doing on Tatooine with the child Anakin Skywalker???

hello there
GeNeRaL sTaR WaRs DiScOuRsE
my interpretation is that he didn't get "nerfed" in the movies, he just got old
because in the clone warses he starts out super powerful and shit but after multiple Jedi masters damage him bit by bit over and over and over again (like our lord and savior Kit Fisto, amen) eventually his body and spirit begin to wear down until he's the moustache twirling, "I'll get you next time"ing, running with his tail between his legs villain we see in ROTS
Trans people are cooler than the cis

not usually a starwarsposter, but I appreciate in fanworks when creators let Din's helmet continue to have significance to him. Idk. It just feels like so many stories treat cultural or religious customs as barriers to romance or grand gestures. They remove those customs asap so characters can have sex or look into each other's eyes or something.
I appreciate when artists let him keep a relationship with customs he grew up with. Then if he begins a personal journey with those customs, evolving and deciding how to make them his own, it's very fulfilling. No one forced him to. Nothing pressured him into making impulsive or premature decisions. He arrived to it intentionally.
Sure, maybe it's fun to give the love interests a moment of discovery and vulnerability (e.g. taking off the helmet) but I feel like that trope is tired. I don't necessarily want to see yet another person giving up something extremely personal for the sake of a new attraction. (especially because so often, the other love interest doesn't have to give up anything nearly that significant in return.)
Again, if he wants to change his relationship to norms/customs, I love seeing personal journeys like that, but not just for the sake of being in love with someone. That's why I love when people let Din keep the helmet on.
