Daisy’s First Christmas
Little!Daisy Jones, Little!Karen Sirko, Cg!Billy Dunne, Cg!Camila Dunne
Thank you so so much to my friends @half-eclipse and @starvember for helping me with ideas for this !! also Merry Christmas everyone <3
Word count: 3631
———————————
Daisy had always liked Christmas from a distance. She liked seeing all the pretty lights go up, she liked the music and she especially liked how much happier people seemed. But up close it was far less appealing. She hated having to sit for hours while her parents got the perfect Christmas photo, she hated the parties she had to sit silently through and she hated waking up alone on Christmas morning. She’d never had a reason to celebrate before, no one to celebrate with, so when Billy came into the living room one evening saying it was time to get the tree up Daisy didn’t really know what to expect.
“Finally,” Camila exclaimed as if waiting until December second was the biggest crime on earth. She seemed to sense Daisy’s hesitation and placed a gentle hand on her back. “Come on Dais, let’s go help Papa find the right tree.”
Karen poked her head up from behind the couch where she’d been doing a puzzle. “From the Christmas tree farm?” She asked eagerly.
“That’s right, go put your coat on,” Camila instructed gently, ruffling Karen’s hair. Karen got up, grabbing Daisy’s hand and dragging her up to get their coats. “We gotta pick a good one,” They had to pick a tree? Daisy had never done that before, at home her parents had used the same plastic one every year.
Once they were all bundled up and piled into the car Billy drove them to a Christmas tree farm about twenty minutes down the road. How had Daisy never known this existed? There were rows and rows of trees, billions of them probably. The family clambered through the snow laden grounds, Julia on Billy’s shoulders so they didn’t lose her amongst the tall pines. Karen held Daisy’s hand, she was quieter now they were outside the comfortable confines of their home. Daisy was just as quiet but her eyes were wide with awe as she ran her fingers through the green needles. They’d brought Apollo and he was happily running circles around the family, tail wagging as he sniffed every inch of earth.
They traipsed through the trees for a while until Daisy laid eyes on the perfect tree. She pointed to it eagerly, bouncing with excitement. “This one, D?” Billy questioned, Daisy nodded.
“Please Papa, it’s pretty.” She looked back nervously to make sure everyone agreed with her. Camila nodded encouragingly.
“Sure thing.” Billy gently ruffled her hair.
When they got home Billy asked the other boys to come out and help him get the tree inside. Daisy held the very top of the tree as they carried it inside, Billy praising how strong she was for helping. Daisy beamed with pride at her assistance and curled up on the couch with Karen and Camila as they put the tree in place.
Daisy offered to help Billy get the decorations from the basement even though it was dark and creepy. She wanted to be there every step of the way, soaking up every mundane moment that Christmas had to offer. They emerged from the basement with three boxes of Christmas decorations. Camila had put Julia to bed and was on the couch with Karen who had found her paci and blankie. She seemed very small and Apollo sat protectively at her feet. Daisy climbed up next to them. “Ren Ren,” she smiled, playing with Karen’s hair. Karen looked up at Daisy with wide, glistening eyes. “I’ve never decorated a tree before,” Daisy admitted quietly. She watched as Karen’s face twisted into a frown, “you’ll help me right?” Karen nodded eagerly around her paci. Camilla laughed softly and kissed Daisy’s head.
Daisy was a bit nervous to decorate the tree. She didn’t want to put something in the wrong place or accidentally break anything. But as she watched Graham and Billy wind the tinsel around the tree she couldn’t help but get excited. Camila handed her the first ornament, a little bauble covered in silver glitter. “Go on bug, you can put it wherever you want.”
Daisy looked to Karen for guidance. Karen pointed to the middle of the tree, Daisy trusted her advice, carefully hanging the decoration exactly where directed. After that it got easier, the boys started helping too and Karen was happy to watch from the couch with Camila and give silent guidance when needed. Warren put a Christmas vinyl on and Daisy felt like her whole body was warm with joy. “Alright kiddo, you wanna put the star up?” Billy asked once the tree was fully covered with decorations. Daisy’s face lit up instantly, her hand flapping with excitement.
“Really, really?”
“Of course, I assume no one has any opposition to this?” Billy asked, looking around the room. For once even Eddie couldn’t argue with Billy’s decision. Daisy nervously picked up the star, being more careful with it than she’d ever been with anything before. She looked to Billy, her face stricken with determination. “C’mere bug,” Billy grinned, carefully hoisting Daisy up from under her arms so she could reach the top of the tree. Daisy placed the star very carefully, giggling with pure joy as Billy put her back on the floor.
“You did so well Mi Cariño,” Camila praised as Daisy clambered into her lap.
“Star,” Karen clapped happily.
“That’s right Bebe. Can you say estrella?” Camila asked.
“Rella,” Karen parroted around her pacifier.
“So smart,” Camila praised, pressing a kiss to the top of Karen’s head. “What about you Daisy, can you say estrella?”
Daisy nodded eagerly, she loved when Cami taught them words in Spanish. “Estrella,” she pronounced proudly. Camila smiled, offering Daisy a kiss to the cheek in reward.
“Don’t I just have the smartest girls in the world,” she cooed.
“And the best helpers,” Billy added. “Who wants to help Papa put up the outside lights too?” Daisy squealed, leaping up from the couch.
“I do!”
Thanks to all the hands, it only took an hour to get the whole front of the house decked up with Christmas lights. Daisy was entirely enamoured with the flashing colours. It all but confirmed for her that this was going to be the best Christmas ever.
***
Camila had been desperately searching for ways to keep Daisy occupied during the winter cold. It was a constant struggle between getting the girl to stop bouncing off the walls and trying to convince her to put a coat on before going outside. Karen was no easier, having taken to cartwheels as her chosen form of transportation around the house. Crafts were a fan favourite and so Camila had come up with the wonderful idea to make letters to Santa. She lay all the craft supplies down in the living room, making sure to put towels beneath them because Daisy and craft time was never a friend to the floorboards.
“You just have to write down what you want Santa to bring,” Camila explained gently. Daisy frowned, this felt like a lot of pressure. But Camila always said there was no pressure to do anything at all when she was feeling small, Daisy reminded herself of this now, whatever she wrote Mama wouldn’t be mad. And Daisy liked the idea of imagining and writing a fun letter so she was a bit excited.
“Anything?” She asked, ideas quickly growing in her mind.
“Not another dog.” Daisy ruffled Apollo’s fur but thought that was probably a fair restriction. She looked at the lined paper infront of her nervously but quickly ideas started to bloom in her mind.
Daisy had just about half covered her page in scribbled gift ideas and little doodles before she noticed Karen hadn’t written anything at all. Camila seemed to notice too.
“Ren?” Camila cooed gently, sitting down beside Karen. Karen’s face scrunched up, a desperate attempt to stop tears falling. “Oh hon, you’re ok,” Camila promised gently. She started rubbing soft circles on Karen’s back as she began to cry. Daisy frowned, Karen didn’t cry a lot unless she felt really, really, small. She’d been feeling smaller a lot more often recently, Daisy thought. Karen had told her it was because she missed her grandparents, the holidays made people miss their homes, Daisy didn’t. But Karen’s grandparents were lovely, and always sent her letters and little gifts and Daisy thought she’d probably miss them too. Camila pulled Karen into her lap, soothingly rocking her back and forth. “There you go monkey, no more tears, Mama's right here.” Karen clung to Camila desperately. “Where’s your blankie, hm? Is it in your room?” Karen nodded sadly. Daisy quickly shot up, she knew Karen’s blankie would make her feel a lot better.
“I’ll find it.” Daisy ran off to get it and tucked it into Karen’s arms when she came back.
“Thank you sweet girl, you’re such a good sister,” Camila praised, causing Daisy to beam with pride.
“Ren wanna finish her letter?” Daisy questioned. Karen shook her head firmly, burrowing closer to Camila. “That’s ok, can you tell me what you wanna ask for?” Karen sniffled a little bit, wiping some of her tears away with the edge of her blanket.
“Keyboard for when I'm small,” she mumbled. Daisy quickly wrote that down on her letter, making sure Santa would know it’s for Karen.
“Good choice bubba,” Daisy grinned. “Do you want a stuffie too? I asked for a fox!” Karen nodded. “What animal, you can have any at all and Santa will make it in his factory,” Daisy explained matter-of-factly.
“Monkey,” Karen whispered, a soft smile returning to her face.
“Monkey!” Daisy squealed, thinking that had been one of Karen’s best ideas ever. She wrote it down quickly.
Warren came in shortly after Daisy had finished writing her letter, just as she was adding the last dots of glitter glue around the edges to make it pretty.
“What are we up to in here?” He questioned, sitting down next to Daisy.
“Crafts!” Daisy exclaimed happily.
“Crafts? Amigo, you gotta let me show you the best Christmas craft ever.” Warren exclaimed. Daisy perked up. She’d thought letters were pretty cool but Warren always had the most fun ideas.
Warren taught them how to make paper snowflakes and even Karen crawled off Camila’s lap to make her own. “Look at you two, you’re naturals,” he encouraged as Daisy unfolded her first snowflake. “Now for the best part,” Warren grinned, pulling out a bottle of glitter from the craft box.
***
Amongst all the festivities, Christmas Eve came faster than Daisy knew what to do with. “Who wants to make cookies?” Camila asked the girls. Julia, Karen and Daisy were all spread out on the living room floor, attempting to make the longest paper chain ever. However, at the mention of cookies the plans were immediately deserted. “Those are my girls, hm, coming to help Mama.”
“Can we make them with the shape cutters?” Daisy asked excitedly. Camila lifted Julia up onto the bench, still too young to really help.
“Of course we can birdie,”
“We’ve got special Christmas ones!” Karen exclaimed excitedly, searching through the drawers. Camila ended up doing most of the heavy work, whilst Karen and Daisy chased each other around the kitchen with flour on their hands. But when it came time to cut out the little star and Santa hat shapes the girls were all over it.
“Jules you just gotta put it down and press,” Daisy explained, demonstrating for the younger girl. She handed the star cutter over and Julia tried for herself. “Good job!” Daisy exclaimed proudly when the toddler managed to cut out the cookie herself.
“Aren’t you both so talented?” Camila cooed. Pressing a kiss to the top of both their heads. Karen had grown easily bored of the tedious task and was hanging upside down over the side of the couch. “Little bug?” Camila called out.
“Yeah mama?” Karen called back, sliding onto the floor. Karen had been doing a bit better the last few days, but Daisy had still been trying to be an extra good sister and help take care of her. “Do you wanna pick out a movie for us?”
“Anything?”
“Whatever you want, monkey.” Karen pulled out their VHS tape collection and began searching for the movie she had in mind. As she did this Camila put the cookies in the oven, not before grabbing a photo of Daisy and Julia with batter all over their hands and faces.
They ended up watching ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’. The four girls cuddled up on the couch, Julia on Camila’s lap and Daisy and Karen on either side of her. Daisy got hot chocolate in her sippy, and Karen in her bottle. Karen and Julia drifted off quickly and even Daisy was struggling to keep her eyes open by the end.
Camila woke them up when the cookies were done, letting each girl take a fresh, warm, choc chip cookie and helping them leave the rest out with a glass of milk for Santa. “Alright my sleepy darlings, let’s get off to bed.”
Billy was in charge of putting Julia to bed whilst Camila handled the somehow more difficult task of getting Daisy and Karen down. Daisy always struggled to fall asleep but her restlessness was tripled with her excitement for Christmas Day. “Come on now birdie, just close your eyes for Mama.” Daisy pouted,
“Can’t, too much energies,”
“Oh I know my sweet girl, but if you don’t go to sleep Santa can’t come.” Daisy sighed defeatedly, pulling all her stuffies into her arms. “Goodnight baby girl,” Camila cooed gently, pressing a soft kiss to the top of Daisy’s head.
“Story time?” Daisy pleaded. Camila sighed, though she couldn’t be mad at the sweet request.
“One story,” she allowed. Daisy requested fantastic Mr fox. She thought Camila was the best storyteller ever, using silly voices for each of the characters and making sure the girl was so absorbed in the story that she couldn’t even feel herself slip off into a peaceful slumber.
***
Daisy never slept in anymore, if the sun was up, she was up. Especially today. When the first little streams of sunlight slithered through the curtains, Daisy woke, as excited as a kid on Christmas… literally. She bundled her stuffies, Dusty the Bunny and Bailey the bear, into her arms and emerged from the warm comfort of her blankets. She shivered in the cool morning air but adjusted quickly, dropping her socked feet down onto the hardwood floor. Quietly she crept out of her room and down the hall to Karen’s.
“Ren,” Daisy called out quietly, climbing into Karen’s bed and gently shaking her shoulder.
“Daisy m’ tired,” Karen whined, rolling over and pulling the blanket up to her head.
“It’s Christmas,” Daisy whispered, her excitement obvious in her voice. Karen woke up a bit more at the reminder, turning back to face Daisy with an excited grin. “I’m cold, let me in,” Daisy whined playfully. Karen lifted up her blanket, allowing Daisy to slip under beside her. The two girls cuddled up together for warmth, stuffies captured between their bodies.
“What are you most excited for?” Karen asked quietly, tracing her fingers up and down Daisy’s shoulder.
“Giving Mama her present,” Daisy giggled. Karen had to agree with that, they’d put a lot of planning into picking out the perfect gift for Camila. They’d ended up hand-making her bracelets and soaps shaped like all her flowers. Feeling like even that couldn’t encapsulate what an amazing Mama she was, they wrote her a song too. “Do you think dragons celebrate Christmas?” Daisy asked, stroking the back of Karen’s stuffed dragon, Ziggy. Karen nodded,
“So do bunnies and bears.” Daisy hummed, happy with that response. She moved her head so it was laying on Karen’s shoulder, the two enjoying each other's quiet comfort as they awaited the joys of the day.
Billy came in not 10 minutes later, sighing when he saw Daisy curled up in Karen’s bed. “There you are birdie, we thought we’d lost you.” Daisy looked up guiltily.
“Sorry Papa, jus’ wan’ed to see Ren,” she explained. Billy nodded in understanding, gently stroking her hair.
“That’s alright, you two wanna come downstairs now? Graham’s still asleep, you can go wake him.” Daisy shot up excitedly at this, quickly scrambling out of bed, overjoyed by the idea of getting to jump on Graham’s bed to wake him up. Karen hung back a bit, grabbing her paci and reaching for Billy to hold her hand as they walked downstairs.
After roughly waking Graham up, Daisy entered the living room, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the presents under the tree. “Good morning sweet girl,” Camila cooed, opening her arms for Daisy.
Daisy hugged her tightly, “Morning Mama.” With the whole family gathered around the tree they all took it in turns to open presents. Everything was thoughtfully given and at times messily wrapped. When they were done Daisy looked at the gifts in front of her including a soft toy fox, a bug catching kit, craft supplies and kids books. She couldn’t help the tears from welling up in her eyes, she didn’t think anyone had ever cared about her enough to spoil her so rotten and a sense of not deserving any of it grew in her chest.
“Oh my little bug, what’s the matter?” Camila hummed gently, reaching over to rub Daisy’s back. Karen looked up worriedly from the toy keyboard she’d gotten and was immediately enamoured with.
“Thank you,” Daisy whispered tearily, crawling over into Camila’s arms.
“Oh baby…” She hummed gently, holding Daisy tightly. “It’s no trouble at all. You’re alright.” But Daisy couldn’t stop the tears anymore, overwhelmed by all the love in the room, the genuine care from her family. “Come on,” Camila gently helped Daisy stand up, grabbing her new toy fox and guiding her out onto the front porch. Camila sat on one of the porch chairs and pulled Daisy onto her lap. The cool air was piercing but Camila’s arms were warm and grounding. “It’s alright, you can cry baby, Mama’s right here.” Daisy did cry, pitifully and messily into Camila’s shoulder and the fur of her new fox. But eventually, Camila’s calming presence calmed her down into silent sniffles. “That’s it, you’re doing so well birdie,” Camila praised.
“No one’s ever cared about me this much before,” Daisy admitted quietly, her voice shaking with the remnants of her tears.
“I know my love, I’m sorry. You’re never going to be alone again, ok? Because you’ve got a whole house full of people who’d drop anything just to see your smile,” Camila gently stroked Daisy’s cheeks as she spoke. “And you’re never going to have to doubt how cared for you are, never again.” Daisy nodded. She knew this, she barely had a doubt in her mind how much they all loved and cared for her. It was almost jarring, after so many years of aching for what she now had.
They sat outside for a little longer, Camila just holding Daisy so she could calm down away from the very crowded and overstimulating living room. Eventually Karen came out to join them. “Papa made breakfast,” she informed them, sitting on the chair next to them. Camila smiled fondly at Karen’s new toy monkey which she was proudly carrying with her. “He made waffles Dais, and said we can have syrup!” Daisy poked her head up to look at Karen, rubbing the tears from her cheeks.
“And whipped cream?” Karen nodded affirmatively. She reached out for Daisy’s hand. “Come on, I wanna show you all the cool sounds my new keyboard can make after breakfast.” Daisy slipped off Camila's lap and the three went inside.
“Ren?” Daisy whispered as they walked inside. Karen turned to her,
“Yeah?”
“Can we show Mama her other present first?” Karen nodded, grabbing Camila’s hand and quickly tugging her away from the direction of the kitchen.
“Karen? Where are we going monkey?” Camila asked with confusion.
“Daisy and Ren got Mama another gift,” she explained, pulling Camila all the way upstairs. The girls made Camila sit down on the end of Karen’s bed as they both sat down at the keyboard.
“It’s a song,” Daisy explained nervously, “We wrote it for Mama.” Before the girls even started Camila had tears in her eyes, and by the end they were rubbing pitifully down her cheeks. Daisy panicked, quickly going over to hug Camila. Karen followed suit, burying into her other side. “Sorry Mama,” Daisy whispered.
“Oh no darling, don’t be sorry, Mama’s not sad, I promise.”
“But you’re crying,”
“Yeah baby, but you can cry when you’re happy. Like you were crying before, and sometimes Ren cries when you’re playing. Mama just thought the song was so beautiful and she’s so proud of both her girls.” Camila punctuated her point with a kiss to the top of both the girl’s heads. “Let’s go get breakfast before the boys eat it all up.”
Breakfast was filled with so much laughter Daisy forgot about any prior tears, and enough syrup that the girls needed a bath before they could go back to playing.
They spent the rest of the day in front of the fire, playing with their new toys and listening to new vinyls. By the time evening rolled around Daisy was too tired to fight it, her eyes fluttering as soon as Camila pulled the blankets up over her. “Did you have a good day baby?” She asked gently, kneeling beside the bed. Daisy nodded sleepily, sucking her pacifier.
“Best Christmas ever,” Daisy affirmed with a yawn. Camila smiled, pressing a kiss to Daisy’s temple.
“I’m glad Birdie. Merry Christmas, Mama loves you.”
“Merry Christmas Mama.”

eeee thanks for tagging!!
(Also your divider is so Rio coded I love it)
uhmm fun fact about me is that i am super super super obsessed with Emily Dickinson. I have a shrine for her in my bedroom with a bunch of books about her and flowers and i collect little trinkets that remind me of her. I’m also doing my art major work based on her poetry!!
also @sunshine-makes-flowers-grow tagged me too so here’s your fact: the only rumour about me that has ever been spread around my school is that I know the hex code for the colour of Taylor Swift’s eyes (I really don’t know who made this up or why)

I'm not going to start making a new episode today, partly because I've barely had time to process the Stump Day episodes, and partly because real life is hard enough as it is, even if you don't run your own podcast.

Important SVTFOE S3 INFO
I just watched the new episodes and while I can get into the whole subtle hints point to Starco etc... This is IMPORTANT the new episodes, at least how I've found them, are on the Disney Now app yeah. At least tonight the Disney XD app didn't work for showing the new episodes, so you'll need the new app. If you have the other one installed and you're signed in it should do it automatically for you.
As for the episodes, call me crazy but the latest as of this point (11/6/2017), at least in my opinion, point to Starco, albeit very slightly.
And what's up with the time difference in Mewni and Earth?

Star vs the Forces of Evil Character Theme Songs 2.0
Well guys, the Starvember bomb came and went. Man, did it take me to emotional dick kick city or what? With every new Star Bomb comes more character growth and more characters. That’s why I decided to do this list a second time. Some have changed. Most have not.
DISCLAIMER: I’m just doing this for fun. It’s a weird hobby of mine. All of these characters are so well-rounded that you could make entire playlists for each character individually. Here I’m just trying to match what I believe captures the spirit of a character in one song, or if a song just happens to remind me of a character. You could probably tell what kind of music I like and how wide my range of music is NOT. If you disagree with a pick, that’s fine. It’s all in fun.
Star Butterfly: “Just Like Fire (Wideboyz Remix)” by P!nk
This one hasn’t changed. The lyrics and the high energy really match Star, so it was a no-brainer.
Star Butterfly (Battle Theme): “Rebel Heart” by CFO$
I was super surprised when I heard this song. I liked it so much that I wanted to include it on this list somehow. I got the idea to include one character theme and one battle theme. It’s just going to be for the two main characters though because they are the ones who fight the most often. Just don’t complain when I don’t give a battle theme to Jackie Lynn Thomas.
Marco Diaz: “Umbrella (Rihanna Cover)” by All Time Low
This one did change. “Melt With You” was okay, but I was never a hundred percent on it. After Lint Catcher am I sure about this one. “You had my heart/we’ll never be worlds apart”? The lyrics are so obvious. It’s a pop punk cover too, so it has a little bit of that boyband sound that Marco likes.
Marco Diaz (Battle Theme): “Playing With Power” by CFO$
I love this song. It totally reminds me of some of the score for the show. I know Brian H. Kim associates Marco with surf/beach music, but honestly I wasn’t getting into it. Marco’s love of video games (if you can call it that) has only been referenced once in Party With a Pony, so this could be considered a bit of a stretch.
Princess Lilacia Pony Head: “Fabulous” by CFO$
Ponyhead is one of my least favorite characters, but a part of me felt I had to play fair. This song screams Ponyhead so I felt I kinda had to. The lyrics do match her bratty attitude. Just give it a listen and you’ll see.
Janna Ordonia: “Freak Like Me” by Halestorm
Another song that hasn’t changed. It’s the only pick for Janna.
Jackie Lynn Thomas: “Big Blue Wave” by Hey Ocean!
This one did change. I still think Hey Ocean! has the perfect Jackie Lynn Thomas sound. I just might have been a little too quick to pick the first song. The lyrics to this one do match Jackie’s personality more as well as her emotional maturity. Plus, it’s just a really nice song. I might even do a Jackie Lynn Thomas playlist of just Hey Ocean! songs.
Queen Moon Butterfly: “Crystallize” by Lindsey Sterling
I wanted to pick something regal for Queen Moon. I don’t think there would be any lyrics that would match her so I went for an instrumental song. I’m not well versed on classical music, but this sounded nice enough so I went for it.
King River Butterfly: “Hellfire” by CFO$
I like pro wrestling music, okay? There’s nothing wrong with that. As a rule I usually don’t give theme songs to people who already have theme songs, but here I’ll make an exception. This song sounds a lot like the music that Brian H. Kim gave him so it was an easy choice.
Tom Lucitor: “Hellbent” by Mystery Skulls*
I actually didn’t pick this one. I don’t like Tom, AT ALL so I had a friend pick it for me. She’s into that kinda music.
Eclipsa Butterfly: “Killer Queen” by Queen
I know this one seems kinda obvious now, but there was a three way tie for this one. Eclipsa acts kinda like a playful granny so I wanted to pick something kinda old sounding. I had an Evanescence song, “This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the Both of Us” by Sparks and this one. This one won, mostly because of the lyrics and tone. Maybe it’ll change but since we’re gonna have a hiatus, that change won’t come any time soon.
Last time I did starco theme songs, but instead I’ll save that for a starco playlist for later.
Accepting suggestions for Ludo, Toffee, Meteora (Heinous)
That’s all I got for now. If there’s a show or character you want me to try to do, just drop me an ask and I’ll see if I can do it. However, I won’t do shows/characters that already have theme songs (I’m looking at you RWBY).
