Captain Spock: Decorated Starfleet veteran, previously served as Captain Kirk’s first officer/science officer, Spock was promoted prior to 2285 to Captain. He took a position at Starfleet Academy and was able to retain command of the Enterprise, then an academy training vessel. During the Khan incident Spock was killed, his katra transferred to Leonard McCoy. His body was shot out into space where it landed on the newly formed Genesis Planet. His body regenerated but it was essentially vessel. He was found by Saavik and David Marcus during the Grissom expedition. His shipmates returned him to Vulcan where through an ancient ritual, his Katra was restored to his body. He spent the next few months retraining his mind on Vulcan and after the Probe Incident, was reinstated to Starfleet. 

The next phase of Spock’s Starfleet career saw him serving as Kirk’s executive officer and science officer from 2287 to 2293. With Sarek he spearheaded peace overtures with the Klingons, rescued Captain Kirk from the Klingon Penal Colony at Rura Penthe, and at Camp Kithomer, met Pardek, a Romulan who seemed eager to talk about reunification with Vulcan.

Spock soon retired from Starfleet after that and entered a life with the diplomatic service. During the next 7 decades there was another falling out with father, Sarek, and married. Secretly he kept working on Reunification and disappeared in 2368. He had gone to Romulus to work his reunification project in person, barely avoiding a plot by Sela and Pardek that would have seen the invasion of Vulcan. 

In the 2380s a star had gone supernova which threatened Romulus and many other planets. the greatest minds of Romulus and the Federation worked together to save the planet somehow involving Red Matter. He was unable to save the Romulan homeworld but did extinguish the supernova before it threatened any more planets. He had created a singularity that he was unable to escape. Spock was chased by a Romulan miner who blamed him for the destruction of Romulus and both ended back in time, Nero flung further back in time and creating an alternate universe that Spock found himself in. Nero captured Spock and used the Red Matter to destroy Vulcan. He’d stranded Spock on Delta Vega, and he was able to feel the majority of Vulcans dying. He helped a young Jim Kirk and Scotty to reach the Enterprise and after Nero was defeated, he dedicated the remainder of his life to help the remaining Vulcans to found a new colony, making himself known to his younger counterpart. Spock reportedly died some time in this alternate 2263 on New Vulcan of natural causes. He was 157 years old.

Spock started in the “The Cage” as a lieutenant. At the beginning of the series he was a Lt. Cmdr and promoted to Cmdr between “The Menagerie” and “Court Martial.” He retained the rank of Commander when he was reactivated during The Motion Picture, being promoted to Captain between that movie and The Wrath of Khan. Aside from his first death and rebirth, his remaining time in Starfleet he remained as a Captain. The exact start of his post Starfleet career is unknown however the novel Vulcan’s Forge places Spock as Captain of the U.S.S. Intrepid-II in 2296 with Uhura as his first officer. Spock’s ambassadorial career was featured in Unification Pt 1 & 2 and mentioned in The Face of the Enemy. Star Trek 2009 followed his latter years and his involvement in the creation of New Vulcan and cameo’d in Star Trek Into Darkness. His second death was in Star Trek Beyond.

Captain Clark Terrell: Captain, U.S.S. Reliant. Assigned to the Genesis Project in 2285 searching for a suitable planet to conduct the third stage test of Genesis. Reliant was taken over by Khan and his followers when they mistakenly landed on Ceti Alpha V thinking it was Ceti Alpha VI. Khan used a local slug, the Ceti Eel, to take control of Terrell and his first officer, Pavel Chekov and learned of Project Genesis. Most of the crew was stranded on planet and they travelled to Regula One Spacelab in an attempt to grab the Genesis device. He had Chekov send a message announcing their arrival with false orders from Admiral Kirk, hoping Dr. Marcus would lure Kirk there. When they arrived, Carol Marcus, David Marcus and one other scientist were missing, the databanks empty and the Genesis device gone. Khan tortured and killed all those remaining (none yielded) and left Terrell and Chekov behind for Kirk to find, as double agents. Kirk did exactly that and was able to lead them to the Genesis cave and Terrell revealed he and Chekov had been working for Khan. After killing one of the remaining scientists Terrell was unable to follow through on Khan’s order to kill Kirk. He fought the eel and ended up killing himself in his struggle.
