quick crop of a part of a minicomic I may or may not finish, feat. my non-Inquisitor Lavellan, Viren, and Solas- on the din'anshiral... together.
Long story short, their base world state in Inquisition is not good. The Inquisitor is a Templar-supporting, brutal, mage-suppressing Trevelyan warrior. Viren survived the general chaos and initial explosion of the Temple of Ashes only to be coerced into joining the Inquisition, their talents as a mage and insight into the nuances of life outside of the rule of Ferelden or Orlais, as well as their experience delving into ruins and historical record, undeniable to even a harsh Trevelyan. He threatened the well-being of the clans, subtly, but without being mistaken. His methods chased off much of his inner circle, but Viren remained, hardening their heart and putting up with it so they could attempt to save and warn those they could. Better to be in a position to actively change what they could than watch it all turn to rot from the sidelines. Thanks to their efforts and the efforts of those before them, they started an underground movement among elves to put aside the differences of background. Over time, they and Solas drew closer - for their mutual interests, their abhorrence of Trevelyan's methods and means, and their love of the Fade and spirits.
At the end of Inquisition's plot, both Viren and and Solas slip into the night, disappearing from even Leliana's watchful eyes - and despite everything, or perhaps because of everything.... Viren joins Solas' cause, and now works hand in hand with him, intent on bringing down the Veil and setting magic and spirits free once and for all...
