Am I the only one who plays the beetle game when watching Starsky and Hutch?!

Okay so I am really good at remembering stuff I watch (I work in film/tv so it comes in handy), and I notice little details and stuff; as a result I know everytime that they reuse an actor (a lot of the minor actors btw) and names that they reuse. But also they reuse a lot of the same cars in the background, one of which is a beige beetle (I think they actually had two). The beige beetle is in the back of pretty much every episode (definitely the first three seasons but I haven't rewatched four lately so cant guarantee it's there too). Haven't seen anyone else mention it but its there.

I’ve talked a bit about how Starsky & Hutch is one of the most hurt/comfort-oriented shows I’ve ever seen, and it’s true.  The show is very deliberate in hurting one partner and allowing (eventually) the other partner to provide comfort, whether that’s through cuddling, gentle teasing, or cooking comfort food.

And unlike a lot of other action shows, the comfort is often given during the rising action and it’s not just a “manly” pat on the back or whatever. These guys love each other and they show it.

Which is all a long-winded way of saying, here, let me give you choice tidbits from the actual script of Coffin for Starsky.

Starsky Leaning against the side of the building.  Wants to vomit but can’t. Hutch quickly moves to him, holding his head. Hutch Starsky… Starsky My stomach hasn’t felt this bad since Aunt Rose sent me some of her special chicken soup. She could never get the hang of it.  Made great won-ton, though.

Under the joke, Hutch can see that Starsky’s guts are screaming and holds him till the nausea passes.

Hutch nods, half-smiles, then reacts as Starsky’s legs suddenly rubber. Hutch grabs him but he doubles in pain.  Hutch eases him to the pavement beside the car. Starsky’s eyes roll in gut-rending agony, his body turning against himself.

Starsky It hurts, Hutch… oh God, it hurts.

Hutch desperately holds him, cradling Starsky’s head tightly in his arms.

Hutch I’m here, buddy.  I’m here.

The pain and the shivers seem to overtake him again.  Hutch hugs him, rocks with him.

Starsky is in pain… Hutch is beside himself…

A “lost look” fills Starsky’s face.  Tears fill Hutch’s eyes as he puts his arm around Starsky’s shoulder.

Starsky’s knees cave and he slides to the ground beside Bellamy. A moan of pain wells up from deep inside Hutch that comes out as:

Hutch Oh, Stars…

He tries to raise his hand.  Hutch takes it.  The look that passes between them says how they feel. Tears fill Hutch’s eyes. CAMERA MOVES IN on them as Starsky gestures him closer. Tries to talk.

Okay so in Partners (S3), aka the one where Hutch fakes amnesia, as soon as Starsky is put to bed and looks over and sees Hutch isnt in the bed next to him, he immediately screams Hutch's name. This parallels The Set Up part one (S2) in which the guy that's not really Terry Nash but thinks he is, wakes up in the actually a girls school hospital and immediately screams the name of who he thinks is his wife.
