Wips, cover and character arts for a story a friend @freelance7 wrote for me as a gift^^ It was great to revisit the main trio and think about how their cultures and personalities show in their clothing. The blue cat character is mine, the other two belong to two other friends. Not sure what I want the result of these arts to be yet, but it could be both a comic or series of illustrations. she is now bisexual! but she's the woman you're thinking of. her toyhouse just for funsies, plus you can eye up her wife and kids. Stellar is an icewing who was raised in the fairly low ranks of her tribe, say the upper of the middle class icewings. she's been a dick her whole life, parents were just as materialistic as her and her and her mother loved to get into all the gossip. father was typically away, trying to advance them through the rankings [her mother was as well but they spent the most time together] so she didnt know him as well. bit of a spoiled brat honestly. i hc the icewings hold many galas and balls and [this idea is taken from the book dragon slippers, which is a brilliant book that i absolutely adore] one of those is held primarily for upcoming icewings - usually younger ones, but dragons of all ages are welcome - to find sponsors to start a business/otherwise patron whatever they hope to do. some even take the dragons on as employees if they so wish, and uh,, let's just say there have been a couple cases of sugar mommy icewings, but we're not getting into that right now. that gala is where stellar met daggers [daggers made of diamond], and they fell in love [stellar was eighteen and daggers eighteen and a half at the time] pretty much at first sight. daggers is a wealthy icewing with little love for her money, and stellar saw both a partner and an opportunity. they did meet in secret for a while [two or three years], and publicly, as, ahem, friends for the latter, but they ran into one issue, and that was daggers' husband murre. murre was an arranged marriage that the two of them made work, neither hated the other and both had the mutual understanding that it was just for the support of both of their families. divorce wasn't an option, both of their families and themselves would be publicly shamed - splitting up a marriage isnt looked upon kindly in icewing society, especially if said marriage is arranged [its well known that icewings will have arranged marriages to prop up their families and often have a side piece or an open relationship] but they have very complicated societal guidelines relating to marriages for love and marriages for finance separately - plus it would likely ruin their families and there was the issue of who would take white lie - their daughter - since daggers was too busy with her job [she works as right hand to the queens managing finances and the royal treasury] and murre cannot raise a child, both being busy with his job and somewhat questionable in his ability to do so.

After meeting Blitzwing, after their successful escape from a high-security Autobot prison, after the operation on Blitzwing's facial plating was complete, Blackarachnia fully expected them to part ways. They were Cybertronian; she was Eukarian. They were far too different to be friends... or anything beyond that. But Blitzwing smiled down at her and asked where they-- as in all of them-- were going to go next. It spoke volumes. They were including her in their future plans. She smiled and turned away so that they wouldn't see her cry.

29. What is something that was difficult at the time, but taught them a valuable lesson they still hold onto? Saying goodbye to Eukaris. It was the closest thing 'Nia ever had to a home; her tribe-sisters were the closest she had to a family. But they were content to live as they always lived, in superstition and tradition, while 'Nia was not. She loved science and logic, things she could see and experience and control. Despite her unhappiness there, it was difficult to leave, but in the end, it taught her to place her desires first and to be true to herself. She doesn't regret that.

Just finished my girl StarEnchanter! (The fur is from the Nightwing side ((still working on the redesigns of all the tribes and my fantribe)) She owns an enchanting shop, enchanting scrolls and jewelry for any purpose (she doesn’t judge) Only her Rainwing markings are able to change colors(and her frills are able to show little spots of color too, though normally they stay how they look in the headshot)

Her mother is StarSeeker (Nightwing Animus who makes potions) and her father is a Rainwing who is a fruit farmer (a very sweet man who I haven’t designed yet lol((please recommend names and colors for her dad I have no clue)) I’ll post a pic of StarSeeker when I have the time

She wears jewelry that has been enchanted by her mother to protect her soul (aka store some bits of her powers in them so whenever she needs to enchant something she can just tap into the jewelry and then pull back when she’s done)

She’s VERY blunt with some dragons, and doesn’t take kindly to arrogant or snobby people. She is protective of her shop and will defend it if someone tries to steal from her(her venom has a fire-like quality to it)

Illu is a failed vessel that has been snatched from the Abyss. They were taken in by a rogue tribe of moths who were known thieves in Hallownest. As such, they never took up wielding a nail, and resorted to being taught magic by the tribe that took them in. They can shift into a Starseeker, albeit an extremely weak one, since all members of the tribe have learned how to shift into a Starseeker as well. I know that the ages of characters in HK are ambiguous, but they're older than the Lost Kin/Broken Vessel, and I headcanon the LK/BV to be in their late-teens, early-twenties, so I'd say Illu is around 28.

Anyways, back to the tribe. You see the remains of it, as it was lost to the Infection, when you near the City of Tears, and that's where Illu is first encountered by Ghost, with the scattered remains of their mentors, infected. Illu then takes up a place in Dirtmouth, and they usually stay there, but you can encounter them in a few other places, such as Deepnest and the Howling Cliffs.

Holding hands is honestly their favourite way to show affection to Grimm, whether it be in a happy, sad or fearful moment, they hold hands with him to say, "I love you, and I'll always be there for you."

Khadgrin Warcraft AU Part 3

((Continuation of this. After a long time coming, here’s Part 3 of the Warcraft headcannons! As always, credit goes to the wonderful @drew-winchester for making such a beautiful pair and drawing. You have been an amazing friend Drew, thank you for your help on this, and I hope you enjoy!))

Official Meeting

Early in the morning, the two were to ready themselves for a journey. When they asked what journey it was, King Liane explained that they were to follow Garona with Lorthar to the orc settlement. PeregrÏn didn’t exactly like this plan, as she didn’t very well trust her. However, Lothar would assure her that they would be accompanied by his best men.

As the group stopped for the night, Khadgar took first watch. In her bedroll, Perry was reading “Elise Starseeker and the Secrets of the Lost Tribe”. 

Garona caught Khadgar staring at her, while he tried to hide it. “He wishes to lie with me.” She got everyone's attention real quick with that sentence! Especially Perry’s! Khadgar looked understandably surprised, as Lothar looked on in amusement. “I don’t want to lie with you.” Khadgar declined any thought of this. “Good. You would not make an effective mate.” Khadgar self esteem took a major drop. Perry mumbles into her book, “I think he’d be pretty effective...” No one heard that, so she was fine.

As Garona and Khadgar Talked about the lack of parental support they had, Perry couldn’t help but relate to both of them. Lothar told them that it was time to go to sleep, since he thought they should all just leave it at that.

The next morning, our band of misfits found the “great gate” Garona was talking about. She explains that the people down there were fuel for the portal, as green magic required life to use. Perry was horrified by this idea. Striping the life force from innocent people to use for your own gain? How awful!

Lothar quickly ordered for them to head back to Stormwind to warn the king of this. Little did they know, they were being stalked...

While two of Lothar’s men went ahead, and while Perry, Khadgar, and Garona prepared to head off, Khadgar gets captured by one of the not green orcs! PeregrÏn readied her magic, but was stopped by Garona. The two talked, and as quickly as he came, the orc left.

At the meeting of all the leaders of the Eastern Kingdoms, the night elf representatives were there with every King, Queen, Dwarf, and High elf there. When asked about their forces, the night elves explained that it would take too long to muster all their forces to bring any aid. The Sin’dorei scoffed at them, only for them to be asked what’s stopping them from helping. Soon the two elven races started arguing with each other, along with everyone else in the room. Even though Lothar told them of a great advantage to be had from attacking now, it still wasn’t enough to get the proper amount of help. However, the Kaldorei still promised to bring enough sentinels they can spare.

(If you’re wondering why the night elves and the humans have such close relations in this headcanon, it’s because not only were humans the first ones to meet the night elven race, but were exceptionally kind to them. Not only that, but also respected the strong will and determination that humans held... even though that it could lead to them being pig headed. It also didn’t help to also spite the Sin’dorei, as relations between high elves had been decreasing due to them becoming more solitary.)

Garona relayed Durotan’s message to King Liane, and while Lothar expressed his concerns about trusting him, his majesty figured this to be too good of an opportunity to miss.

Meanwhile, Khadgar and PeregrÏn rushed back to their rooms, to only find Medivh himself there waiting! Despite Khadgar wanting to help Medivh, he only recieved the guardian being furious with him and all of his researched burned! PeregrÏn now thought less of the guardian, as instead of accepting help he just ruined weeks of hard work! When they tried to tell Lothar about it, he simply shrugged it off as him trying to protect them.

At black rock spire, the Frost wolf clan came face to face with the king and his men. Perry and Khadgar stood and watched the meeting take place. Unfortunately, peace was not meant for today, as an ambush sprung out! The two fought as hard as they could, and when an orc knocked Perry to the ground, about to crush her skull beneath the orc’s hammer, Khadgar blasted the orcish brute into the stone wall!

When Medivh erected the lightning wall, Khadgar had Perry on his horse, leading the remaining soldiers away from the orcs. Perry fell between consciousness and unconsciousness, and passed out. (I mean, if an orc hit me as hard as he could, I doubt I’d be in good condition too!)

PeregrÏn soon wakes up in Stormwind’s infirmary, with a cast around her left arm. On the cast had writing on it. It said: To Perry, sorry I wasn’t able to be there when you woke up. I hope you get better! Khadgar. She was disappointed that Khadgar wasn’t there with her, her fingers traced Khadgar’s signature.

She left the infirmary, and came face to face with Garona. The orc asked why she’s out of bed, and Perry answered, “I wanted to stretch my legs, felt like I was out for a day!” “2. You were asleep for two.” “Where’s Khadgar?” She asked worriedly. “He’s in a place called Dalaran.” Garona noticed the look of relief on PeregrÏn’s face. “Your mated to him, aren’t you?” Perry face lit up like a Winterveil tree light! “WhaT?!? No! I just... just-” “Want to lie with him?” Garona tilts her head, seeing the elf face now deepening in a dark violet color. “Ah... No! I just... you know what. I’m just going to go outside for some fresh air. later!” PeregrÏn darts for the doors, leaving behind a much confused Garona. “Elves are strange.” She mumbles to herself.

The R.R.W. Vindicator decloaks in a defensive position above the town of Garenhoff.

Commander V’Laren Apollo tapped the comm on her arm rest, signalling the entire ship.  “This is Commander Apollo.  We are now in position above Garenhoff.  We believe there is possible White Mantle and True Way cellls within the region of Kessex Hills, a region that is heavily populated by Romulans.  While there are also Romulans living in the surrounding areas of Nebo Terrace, Ascalon Settlement and Claypool, the main targets of the combined forces of White Mantle, Cardassian and Jem Hadar will target communities here.

“From what we have been told, the Kessex Hills are still rebuilding from the battle against the sylvari known as Scarlet Briar.  Our goal is to help these people, aid the Shields of Glint, and make sure all pockets of the True Way are disposed of.  Prepare teams for shuttle launch, each team will be given coordinates where to land.”

Commander Apollo turned off her comm and rose to her feet.  Now her attention could focus on the map scans her crew had taken of the region. “Commander,” her first officer, Gracus Aurilius called out as he pointed toward a section of the map.  “It seems the largest concentration of White Mantle is here, across this waterway in the...”

“Lychcroft Mere,” a woman called out as Gracus hesitated.  She was Romulan, but dressed in the armour of the military force known as the Shields of Glint. “Sylvari have an encampment there, they are attempting to ward off the last of Zhaitan’s Risen who no doubt are acting aimlessly since the defeat of the elder dragon.”

Gracus nodded and continued. “From what information we’ve been told, the White Mantle has been supplying the local centaurs, a tribe called Tamini, in attempts to disrupt and keep Seraph and Lionguard forces busy.  So far, the only places they haven’t outright attacked have been Garenhoff proper.”

“And Garenhoff has to deal with the local ettin population,” a smartly dressed asura announced.  “Mind you, according to reports from the Arcane Eye, the elementals keep the ettins at bay.” The asura, named Flekk, looked back to the map on the screen.  “Impressive technology you have here.  Only a matter of minutes and you’ve managed to generate a completely detailed topographical map.  That would make exploring so much more safe and cut down on resources.”

Another asura, dressed in the familiar garb of the Order of Whispers gave Flekk a look.  “Where’s the fun in that?” she said with a huff. “Maybe to you it would be incredible, but to someone like me, I look forward to the thrill of the journey.”

“Yes, Jixxa, you and I are cut from two different cloths,” Flekk replied with a sigh.

“Perhaps later,” Commander Apollo said with a small smile. “We can discuss a sharing technological information.  No weapons, naturally.  But medical, topographical, scientific information.” Flekk considered this and finally gave a firm nod.  “Now, back to the matter at hand,” Apollo said as she faced the soldier of the Shields of Glint.  “Centurion Vargas, you have said your troops can guide us through to these different regions.”

“Yes we can,” Vargas replied as she looked back to the map.  “My battle group has one hundred and fifty troups in it.  We can divide those into groups of twenty five and move them into position here in Black Haven, here in Triskel Quay, down in the Lychcroft Mere, up in old Fort Salma, another twenty five at Quarryside and leave the remaining forces here in Garenhoff.  If you could have ten troops for each battle group, that will bring each one to thirty five.  We should be able to route any of these threats.”

“We’ll have to scan the regions first with a more localized scan,” Gracus cautioned.  “The Jem Hadar are famous for their subspace devices.  During the Dominion War, they would place them like mines and would appear with the slightest movement nearby.  The explosion was small, but enough to kill or injury anyone unlucky enough to be close by.”

“That seems hardly fair,” Flekk commented.

“In war,” Vargas stated flatly. “There is a fine line between victory and what is fair.”

Apollo nodded as she looked over the map.  “Gracus, have our best soldiers join with Vargas’ troops.  We’ll have shuttles ready to reach the surface immediately.  I’ll inform Admiral Starseeker and find out how the main bulk of the forces are fairing in Lake Doric.  If all went well, Captain Borgcrusher and her MACOs should have hit the ground to join Seraph, Sentinel and Shields.”

Hearthstone Battlegrounds Heroes - Four New Challengers enter the fray

I’m still plugging away at Hearthstone Battlegrounds, even though it makes me despair more than any other Auto Chess game has done previously. I like it, but I also kind of hate it… hopefully someone else will take what Blizzard has done with Battlegrounds and make something that’s not completely bonkers, than I can free myself from this Auto Chess hell I’ve found myself in.

Meanwhile, Blizzard has added four new heroes into the mix, while retiring launch heroes King Mukla, Giantfin, Millificent Manastorm and Lich Baz'hial.

Giantfin was the first Heroes I ever tried when playing Battlegrounds. Personally I thought he could work if Murlocs as a tribe were given a boost. Along with King Mukla and Millificent Manastorm, you’re forced down a specific build (Murlocs, Beasts or Mechs), which I guess is a gamble if someone else is also buying up those card types. Still, they’ve left the Demon buffing Lord Jarraxus in the mix so it’s hard to tell if Blizzard are against tribe-specific heroes or not. Maybe they just wanted to give Demons an advantage?

Here are the details on the new heroes joining the game:

Sindragosa

Hero Power: Stay Frosty (Passive) Cost: 0 Ability: At the end of your turn, Frozen minions get +1/+1

This is an interesting ability, but it creates an odd tempo because you essentially have to buy the card you want AFTER you freeze it for a turn. Not only that, once you’ve bought it there’s no way to freeze the minion again so we’re talking about a minor, one-off stat boost. I wonder if it heralds a future update where ‘Freezing’ becomes a minion ability, and not just something you do in the Tavern. They’ll need to be something, because with the stat-inflated mess the game is currently a simple 1/1 boost won’t be able to keep up with the other abilities.

Elise Starseeker

Hero Power: Lead Explorer (Passive) Cost: 0 Ability: When you upgrade Bob’s Tavern get a ‘Recruitment Map’.

I don’t really understand this ability myself - will need to test Elise out to see where it’s value is. The Recruitment Map will be a bonus card added to your hand, but it costs three cold to play. It allows you to recruit a minion from your current tavern tier after upgrading it at Bob’s Tavern. Is this a scry/search ability? Or is better or worse than Discover? I guess we’ll find out.

Brann Bronzebeard

Hero Power: Battle Brand (Passive) Cost: 0 Ability: After you play a Battlecry minion, give a random friendly minion +1/+1

Battlecry as a keyword is pretty ubiquitous across the card-pool, and focusing on them with Brann means you get an added incentive for using them. Plus, you can then sell them on if you want, although going by the wording on paper, the Battlecry minion you just played may end up getting the +1/+1. Brann’s ability is better than Sindragosa’s from where I’m sitting, as you can in theory boost a minion more than once (although you have no control).

Sir Finley Mrrggltn

Hero Power: Power Up! Cost: 1 Ability: Give a random friendly minion +1/+1. After you sell a minion, refresh this.

I’m not sure how meta selling lots of minions is in Battlegrounds at the moment, especially because of the fixed economy around buying/selling. Still being able to use this ability more than once a turn is not to be sniffed at, and could be good for giving your lync-pin minion an early boost while you’re still sorting your synergies out. Again, the ‘random’ elements makes it less reliable, however, and so far I’ve not seen a strategy that allows for boards below 5 minions.

New heroes aren't the only things that are coming in the new update - there’s plenty of balance changes and tweaks coming as well, which are detailed in the full patch announcement.

The next update will be dropping in December. Generally, Blizzard wants to look at tweaking and balancing the existing card pool, as well as rotating heroes in and out. Two new minions are also on their way, although not sure if they’ll make the next update or not.
