In my artist era again (joking)

Anyway, have this funky, futuristic Starlight Express OC I have come up with!

Took 24 hours and 30 minutes total drawing up this goobie so I am a tiny bit proud of this

His name is QU3NT1N and he's supposed to be a yardmaster for the RP server I'm hosting!

Inspiration for this is a bit of a mixture between the costume designs of Starlight Express Bochum and Starlight Express London

(Base by mellon soup because I couldn't be bothered struggling with anatomy)

After about like- a year (almost two) of adjusting to digital art, as well as getting inspiration from other stex artists, I've decided to plan out some train refs myself!

(The major inspiration taken off of my roleplays and my friends characters)

Starting off strongly w the antags ;;

and a bonus elektra + electra casual <3

I put most effort into electra cuz hes my main muse :-D !! I plan on drawing bv for elektra next. Then i plan on drawing the coaches and freights! Ill go slowly about it :>c ive gotten more properly into stex back in april 2023 so its refreshing to being able to begin drawing refs of the trains

I made two of Electra’s components into dolls 👽

I was only able to find two of these dolls so I wasn’t able to make wrench :(

But anyway I’m very happy with how these turned out I love joule and Volta’s designs

i don’t really like some of the costume changes made when stex bochum was revised because i feel like they modernized them in a way that made them kind of lackluster to the originals.

mostly the changes to pearl, cb, and electra, they feel very meh to me now whereas they were three of my favorite costumes before (especially electra, that red white and blue combo went SO HARD).

what im trying to say is that i have no problem with them trying to modernize the costumes, but i do think the 2024 london revival did a much better job at that then revised bochum did.

Do you know anything about ALW planning to bring back Belle the sleeping car and put her into the Bochum production at some point in the 2000s?

I don't know much more than that... I was chatting to someone in Bochum who knew what he was talking about, and he told me how they wanted to get a celebrity to play Belle the sleeping car - as on Broadway she comes on, sings a song, then turns up for the finale so would make a good celebrity cameo. I don't think they ever got as far as casting... this conversation would have been around 2003, 2004, so I don't know if the plan was late 90s or early 2000s.

This was the same conversation he was saying how they had initially expected to have Belle in the German show in 1988, but between finding her hard to cast and the Japan/Aus show going on without her, she got cut relatively late in the preparations.
