I’m SO glad you called Ned an “enabler”.

Ned gets so much praise (and hate ??) for warning Cersei before wanting to sell her out to her rapist but I disagree with that praise. No one looks at the patriarchal violence lurking beneath. You know exactly the nature of the man you’re dealing with, you saw him slapped Cersei so hard she fell to the floor and threatening to slap her again, and you think giving one flimsy warning will be enough ?? Ned is absolutely a misogynistic fool. When Robert comes back from his hunt he’ll tell Robert the truth and he thinks Cersei will have enough time to flee with her guard and children and retinue ??

“Wherever you go, Robert’s wrath will follow you”, Ned knows that sooner or later (in a few weeks, a few months), Cersei and her children will be slaughtered, he just postponed their deaths. Ned would have received a letter informing him that Robert eventually murdered Cersei and her children and think “how could this have happened ? At least, I wasn’t the one holding the knife so I don’t have their blood on my hands.”

@translannisters and @kristevanstark have much more coherent thoughts about this than me on their very fun deeply excellent asoiaf podcast but yeah in AGOT ned ends up taking this almost wife-like role (stay with me here) with robert where he’s trying to gently guide robert into doing the right thing without ever setting hard boundaries or really flat-out saying no. And ned resents cersei for not being as good at this with her abusive husband as he is. you can really see it in that conversation with cersei where he straight up says well anyone (like me) would’ve been happy to marry robert why couldn’t you have just been better because as a fellow robert baratheon dickrider he refuses to acknowledge that there IS no “doing better” at gently guiding this chaotic abusive man with absolute power into doing the right thing when he does not want to.

ned stark is a HUGE enabler of robert with a big case of “i refuse to see it” syndrome. him watching robert hit cersei and not intervene is like when stannis watched robert hit joffrey and didn’t intervene or all of the standing by as atrocities happened that people like Jaime Lannister and Arthur Dayne did. It’s absolutely an essential part of his character but i think it can be hard to see because we only see him through his wife and children and vassal house’s eyes who still very much see him as a perfect martyr figure.

08/16/13; UP Cookout 2013

The UP Cookout was last Friday, so yeah, this is yet another late post. College really is consuming my time so I hope you bear with me! Anyway, I went to the Cookout to support Louise (starkgirl) because she was included in the Rampahan, a fashion show. I was shy to go there alone so I took Aina (silhouettedreeams) with me. (And also because I like hanging out with her, of course.)

The UP Cookout’s from 6PM-6AM. I was pretty sure my mum wouldn’t let me go since it’s held at night. I mean, she would let me in some circumstances, but she feels uneasy when she’s working (She has the nightshift so yep, I’m alone from Mon-Fri. Hihi.) while I’m out so I’m only (rarely) let out during Saturday nights. So.. simple solution: I snuck out. It was in my bucketlist and I’ve always wanted to try. Plus, my folks are really strict. My curfew used to be like 6! 6! So try to not judge me too harshly. I gotta admit. It was fun. Added more thrill to the event even. (Hashtag medyobadgirl. Haha!)

After my mum left at around 9, I basically skipped to my room and changed. Aina and I agreed to meet at Ayala. I got there first and typically, I headed straight to Fully Booked. I was bent over the lower shelf, looking for Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead when Aina came from behind me and scared the living daylights out of me. (Lol, really nice Ain.)

We went around the bookstore for a while, then at around 10 we finally headed to UP. We bought tickets and had our wrists stamped there, and unexpectedly at the gate, I saw one of my friends from church so we talked for a while.

Maly, our friend from UP and Aina’s batchmate, met us there and accompanied us to the Chemlab to meet with Louise for a while. She was pretty busy with the Rampahan so we only got to talk for a couple of minutes. (I was insanely jealous of her cartilage piercing, if I might add.)

We felt thirsty and hungry, so we headed back to the crowd where the food and drinks are. Aina was trying to catch my attention and apparently I was too distracted with something, I don’t really remember what, but when I turned around I saw someone who looked a whole lot like Jecon (jeconomics). I immediately turned around again and told Aina and she said that was what she was going to say earlier.

We weren’t really sure if it really was him, but it really really really did look like him. I didn’t say hi though since it would be embarrassing to say hi and it turns out it’s not him so yeah. Awkward. HAHA. It was more awkward because we stayed in front of him for most of the night since our friends sat in the grass in that area.

Turns out, it was him.

Jecon didn’t introduce himself though for some reason but told me next time he will. (And it will not be in a children’s party, okay Jecon?! Inside joke, lol).

I brought my intax and it was such a fail! I thought that it had a good 10 sheets of film when it only had 5. And I didn’t bring an exrta pack. Meh, oh well. At least we got our photo taken with a Stormtrooper! Definitely an achievement for a Star Wars fan.

At around 2am, I got kind of bored because I was really there for the Rampahan but it was in the last part of the program. The DJ thing took really long. I’m not a fan so I wasn’t really impressed or interested much. Aina wanted to go home and I didn’t really want to go home alone, so I went with her. It was around 3 or 4 am, I think?

Kind of bummed that I wasn’t able to witness the Rampahan. It was supposed to be the highlight of the entire event but at least I was able to see the last Sayawan (dance) and all the Bandahan (bands) + the DJ thing. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to see the whole event.

All in all, it was a majorly awesome night!

3) Starkgirl Who: Louise — forever 17 — Soon to be doctor What: A personal blog I don't know but I'm just assuming (haha) from her posts that she is either deeply infatuated with someone or in love hehehe :>. Correct me if I'm mistaken. xD She has a decent number of posts and reblogs about love which is a big plus for me being such a cheesy and hopeless romantic person. I scroll down her blog and it makes me come back to that feeling I was always forget. She makes awesome mixtapes and a good taste in music :DD In my opinion, her blog is almost a mix of everything.
