Making Do: Chapter 2

Cam knows John is fucking someone else— knows from John's wariness about getting together sometimes, like he has to make sure he's free; knows from the bruises, at times still pretty fresh, the shape of fingertips imprinted on his skin— and he gets it. Cam isn't in the position to be around all the time, and they're lucky if they can hook up for a night or a weekend every few weeks.

And it's none of Cam's business anyway.

He's never asked for or expected exclusivity from John. He's never hoped for something more than some laughs, a break from thinking about the damn aliens at the literal door, and to be allowed to wrap his arms around John and fall asleep after they fuck.

Whoever else John is fucking, though, it's real obvious he like things a bit rough. And Cam's not stupid. He knows rough is a thing for some people.

He just never considered it might sometimes be his thing, too.
