plot: after the fight with the first order on Crait , Poe Dameron starts having dreams about a mysterious man with DID ties with the Moon god. Poe, Rey and Finn including the adorable BB8 lands on earth accidentally after being attack by the first order. With three of them separated they met Steven Grant/ Marc Spector after an mistaken Identity , the four must help stop forces beyond their level.
Chapter 7
Rey , Finn, bb-8 and Steven including Marc left the museum thanks to Rey using the force on Donna to Steven to get off work early to figure out what was going on “how did you do that ms Rey?” Steven asked in shock and a bit smitten towards her “Steven focus ,Hand me the body let me deal with this situation “ Marc said in his head more rudely than ever , Steven didn’t listen to him and instead fallows them “I am focusing Marc “ he said out loud on accident making Finn jump a bit “Poe stop talking to yourself, your literally freaking me out with self talking “ Finn told Steven making him say “sorry” quietly.
Seeing Steven’s/ Marc's apartment where bb-8 was staying. Both Finn and Rey made faces at the mess and ankle Restraints “Oh yeah about that, I used to sleep with that “ Steven told them , Finn look at him at his responds
“Used to??”
“I thought I have terrible sleepwalking before well…all this “ Finn stood silent and steps away from him , Leaving Rey looking at all of the Egyptian stuff and she look at Gus 2.0 in awe unaware of Marc’s reflection glaring back at her “What kind of small creature is that?” She asked “Oh that’s a goldfish his name is Gus 2.0” He answered “What happened to Gus 1?” Finn asked and frowns when BB-8 told Finn that the first fish died making him frown “sorry about that fish Poe”
“It’s Steven mate and it’s alright “
Finn just nods and fiddles with a paper wight that shape as a Pyramids and spots Rey looking at a book which he joins her seeing similar pictures at the museum earlier “Mr.Grant what kind of language is that?” Steven smiles sheepishly “Well its Egyptian Hieroglyphics isn’t an Langue per say , it’s actually an Alphabet use in their writing” Steven could go on but Marc decided to stop him “Steven can we focus on finding their friend and we need deal with stuff” he told him .
Finn didn’t know what to think about this Poe looked like , he either found it scary and interesting that this guy knows about this Egypt place but his friend is still out there, and Rey must have read his thoughts “don’t worry Finn…we’ll find Poe” she told him.
“How about you use your thing you did to me and Steven to find him” Marc said making the couple look at him , to be fair he took control back to his own body while Steven was distracted “hey you two I’m Marc Spector” he told them Finn smiled finally this man isn’t using that accent and yep he is weirded out by his voices is similar to Poe’s voice “ I know “ Rey said to Marc and bb-8 lightly dumps to Marc’s leg making him smiling a little “ I’m Rey “
“And I’m Finn”
Marc nods “so I heard and both of you don’t have last names” both of them nodded making Marc frown “ okay then Rey can you use that magic thing to find your friend?”
Rey made a face “ it’s called the force Mr Spector and…. I can try “ Rey sits on the ground cross legged and starts concentrating on finding Poe Dameron. “So how do you talk to …Steven?” Finn asks and Marc tells the kid that he is available to talk to Steven through his reflection on reflective surfaces and sometimes in his headspace “oh so that why you talk to yourself?” Marc nods and Rey gasps in fear “Rey what happened?!?” Marc rushes towards her along with Finn “I found him” she only answers making Marc get her water leaving Finn to blush at the fact he is holding her “you found Poe?” She nodded after handing the glass of water to drink.
“He is in trouble but he’s not alone “ she told them, “first order?” Finn frowns “no Finn but some one named Khonso “
“Khonsu…..the moon god of Egypt “
Both of them including bb-8 look at Marc “how do you know?” They asked Marc even though Rey knows the answer “Steven and I work for him, we protect people at night and we are his avatar….his Moon Knight”
A/N: finally chapter 7 is finally here !!!! Sorry it took so long because of my giant writers block 😤

More on the different levels of Force skills between Poe's headmates: Marc: strongest in the Force, genuinely gifted except for the mental block around healing, which is why he's Khonshu's favorite Padawan Poe: Force-sensitive but at a low level, uses it for piloting, that’s the only time it’s measurable Jake: claims he's not Force-sensitive at all, but he's actually somewhere between Poe and Marc, and instinctively uses it to buff his aim/reflexes/charm on a regular basis Steven: no signs of Force-sensitivity at all (yet??)

Twice Moon-Born
A while back, I first read this fic on Ao3. I loved it to bits, and still do. Between the main fic and the comments, the idea of continuing it myself popped up now and again. This is me finally going "why not?" Enjoy and be gentle
---
Strange how something as simple as moonlight settling over sand dunes could stir up so much memory. Khonshu gazed steadily as he reflected. In retrospect, it hadn't really been that long since he'd seen it. Not for a god such as him. But, for one who didn't not know if they would ever see it again, it served as a sobering reminder.
The differences were ultimately stronger than the similarities. Two moons sat in the sky, one much closer than Earth's moon, his moon, ever was. Creatures bearing only a vague similarity to Earth's own would scurry about. And, of cource, the wreakage of multiple starfaring vessels dotted about.
One more recent than the others.
Khonshu finally moved from the dune he'd perched upon. The vessel had long since sunk, and his avatar was elsewhere anyway. Silently, he flowed past the endless sea of sand painted an almost appropriate shade of blue, towards where his power collected. He went unacknowledged by both sand and mortals when he finally arrived.
Khonshu's avatar lay in the sand. Unmoving, clumps of blood-baked sand like scattered rose petals around their body. Flipping them over, the limbs remained in their previous position, eyes glassy and blank.
Shaking his head, Khonshu sighed. Eyeless sockets cataloged every piece of damage: minor cuts and deep gashes, broken back and legs, fingers missing, multiple skull fractures, fragmented ribs that had punctured the lungs and stomach but avoided the precious heart. As well as the minor decay that had already set in.
Nothing Khonshu couldn't fix.
Wind swirled and the moons above brightened as Khonshu brought his sceptre to rest over the body's heart, and pushed his power further inside. At once, the body's eyes became beacons for the moonlight that was pulsing through the whole body, reinvigorating flesh and encouraging it to resume its usual function. Then, as soon as the brain cells had regrown and the heart once again began beating, Khonshu reinserted the four souls that had sought refuge with him.
Three immediately went lay unconscious within. One woke up instantly.
Poe Dameron's gasp for air quickly turned into a scream of agony. His back snapping back into place seconds later raised the pitch to a wail. Still stiff limbs tried to flail about as if to dislodge the pain, as if it wan't under his very skin.
Poe only stopped screaming once his ribs popped out of his lungs, choking on a combination of old and new blood. With some effort, he managed to flip onto his stomach, hacking and gasping around blood clots and still present torment. Barely able to hold himself up on his albows, Poe watched in horrified awe as his fingers were restored layer by layer. His legs healing with a loud crack brought him face down in the sand once more, bracing for even more agony.
Then, it stopped.
Phantom pains echoed around new nerves as he panted and trembled and waited. An eternity passed. And he dared to look up.
Jakku's moons glared down at him. Between blinks, a figure stood between them and him. Tall, humanoid, body wrapped in bandages, a golden crescent on its chest. No neck with a giant bird skull floating on top. "The age of hiding is over," Khonshu declared, "Now, it is time to finally claim your birthright!"

Hi kat! I want to read your Star Wars longfic but im a little overwhelmed. Everything I know about Star Wars is from unintentional osmosis or you wrote it in a Moon Knight crossover. Do you (or one of your followers) have a fic of yours that you'd think works as a Baby's First Star War?
If you want a really long one, I'd rec hunting towards heartstill, which was the first long SW fic I wrote. If you're okay with something shorter, made of hurricanes and ether and I got trouble in mind both have a very limited cast/contained scope, so they're a little easier to understand.

I Know You
Summary: Reader who isn't what she seems to be. Supposedly a normal college student working in a grocery store, she has no idea what is about to be revealed. When waking up, she is unknowingly surrounded by the heroes of the DC Universe who have to watch snippets of her life before she jumped into their universe.
->Possible One Shot
-> Word Count: (6,648k)
-> Pairings: Implied! Tim Drake x f!Reader, Past!Miguel O'Hara x Reader (it is not what it looks like)
-> Crossover DC/Marvel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Bat family(Main)
-> Warnings: Suicide(not reader), Grieving, Guilt, Miguel being an ass.
a/n: First Official fanfic published! Originally, the first was supposed to be a Star Wars/Moon Knight crossover but I lost motivation lol. It was halfway done before I stopped writing it. I do not see many fics written with crossovers that include the readers so why not? Fic does include song lyrics relating to the situations but this is a watch-it fic! If anyone would like, in the future I can possibly write more related to this universe. :)
Pls ignore grammar mistakes as I ignore Grammarly. This is an escape from my summer courses.
I hate who I was before.
Her eyes dimmed, as they ran through the inventory list for her work. She murmured the calculations under her breath as she pointed out the things that were most likely stolen by the preteens who laughed their way out of only buying 2 red bulls. With a sigh, she writes down the missing inventory.
This would come out of her paycheck.
Songs came and went through the earplugs she had inserted in her ears. At a good volume to hear any incoming customers, she continued on her way to the last aisle.
No, I never knew what it meant, what it meant to be content with you.
It was less likely for people to steal coffee products. She was thankful that this was the last one she had to look through. Despite her shift having another 3 hours to end, she knew her 30 minute lunch break was coming up soon. She hoped nobody would steal her lunch since she forgot to write her name on the box.
She started ticking off the items and counting them in her head. She murmurs the lyrics under her breath, continuing down the aisle.
I’ll quiet down if that’s what you want. I understand I’m not the only one for you.
Someone calls out her name, a familiar voice that brings her out of her thoughts. Lowering her music just a tad bit, she turns to the customer.
Alfred smiles at her kindly, offering a curt nod in which she responded with a smile and a wave. “Have any new creamers?” He questioned her, now looking at the assortment of creamers in front of them.
She shakes her head in response, “It’s very rare for us to have new stock Mister Alfred. Would you like a new recommendation, though?”
He holds a brand she instantly recognized, “That’d be lovely. What about this one?”
“Lovely choice Mister Alfred. Although, I wouldn’t add too much since it will get too sweet. Don’t think Tim would like it.” He smiles in response, putting the creamer in his basket.
“Fortunately, he is still banned from coffee. I assumed he would have told you?” She felt her face grow hot in response. She sends him a sheepish smile.
“We’ve both been busy. Haven’t had the time to talk.”
All I wanted was you.
Alfred knew what she meant, sending her a sad smile. He instantly recognized the signs of people drifting away the moment things got out of their control. He bids his goodbye, walking away from the worker stuck in her own thoughts.
All I wanted was you.
She rubs her cheeks tiredly, making sure to avoid the makeup she woke up early for. Her bags had grown worse during the past month, reminiscing of the old and what it once was. It was not like it was all Tim’s fault, really, that he had begun to slip away when he noticed things started to change between the two. When Steph noticed the change and brought it up with her, she avoided the conversation as a whole.
“People drift apart, Steph. It’s normal.”
Steph scoffs, “It isn’t normal when you guys are best friends! When you worked at that coffee shop before, you were literally the only one who didn’t decline his weird order. Hell, he stayed when you went through that changing major crisis!”
She continues to bag Steph’s groceries, ignoring the looks she was receiving from her coworkers. Things were slow today, it was not her fault Steph decided to confront her while she was at work.
“Steph,” She sighs tiredly, “I really don’t want to talk about this. I just started my shift. Can we talk about this another day?”
Steph grabs her own bags, patting her hands in response, “Fine. I’m here if you need me.”
You’re not who you are to anyone.
She leaves for the break room, notifying her other coworker, who waved her off with a farewell. Taking out her lunchbox, she heats up her leftovers from the weekend. Scrolling through her phone, she sees the spam messages Steph had sent her. Updating her about Tim and their families’ weekly dinner.
It wasn’t like the dinner always worked! Jason almost never shows up unless it is absolutely necessary. Dick uses his status as a cop to get out of dinners. Tim was always working overtime to avoid the dinners. Damian had to be there or else he would be grounded from going out. Cass was almost always there but never began conversations. Duke, the brightest one who tried to start conversations, became demotivated over time. Barbara, sweet Barbara, who worked too far to arrive at the Dinner on time. Steph ranted to her about the family and she could not help it.
She began to cry.
Can you come back to me? ‘Cause I was too blind to see that you were right in front of me.
She missed her friends. But she could not go back after she failed them.
She failed them all.
I’m so sorry Miguel.
She slips her food onto the table, beginning to eat the cold, but at the same time hot lunch.
She wipes the tears from under her eyes, looking through her small pocket mirror to make sure she did not smudge anything. She felt her eyelashes prickle against her eyelids, feeling ticklish and sensitive from the crying. She sniffs the snot away, pushing her half eaten food away. She was no longer hungry and she wanted to go home.
I want to go home.
She throws her food away, diminishing the past thought from her head. Waltzing into the employee bathroom, she leaned her head on her arms in front of the closed door. No matter how nasty this bathroom was, she still managed to find the (almost) silence good for her.
Used to stick together. You’re my best friend, I’ll love you forever
Her time was ticking to go back to work, silently cursing to herself when she realized she forgot to clock out for her lunch. God, her boss is going to reprimand her for this. For any little thing she slipped or missed to do, her boss was on her about it. Guilt tripping her on the problems she can cause with her mistakes.
She was just trying to do her best.
She steps out of the bathroom, manually writing her clocking out and in for lunch. She was back to work.
When she stepped out, she realized how silent it was. There was no noise except for her song.
What’s up danger?
She called out for her coworker but there was no response. She walked down the aisle but there were no customers. When she walked to the front she realized there was nobody.
Everyone was gone.
Everything knocks out of her at once, feeling the prick in the back of her head that something was wrong. Her phone clatters to the floor, yanking her earbuds out of her ear.
She drops to the floor as well, holding her hands to her ears. The world's noises began to grow louder but there was absolutely nobody around. No cars honking, no children playing at the park nearby.
Only the sounds of the birds chirping and the wind picking up outside.
With that, her eyes roll to the back of her head and she knocks out.
⋆。°✩
When she woke up, she noticed how the noises were dimmed. The same way it was before the spider bite. Before everything occurred. She looked around, sighing in relief when she noticed the people who had similar confused looks.
Her eyes stopped at Tim, who was next to Steph.
Who was next to Cass.
Who was next to Damian.
Who was next to Dick.
Who was next to Bruce.
Who was next to Duke.
Who was next to Alfred.
Who was next to Barbara
Who was next to Jason.
She sees other familiar faces like the famous Clark Kent. She sees him with unfamiliar people. With boys who had similar looks as him.
She noticed others as well, people who looked like they were important. Like they were part of a team.
Is that Wonder Woman?
She noticed in the far corner, there were recognizable people. People who should be in Arkham Asylum. Villains. Her breathing still remained normal despite this.
When people began murmuring their theories, Clark was the one who spoke up, “I would recommend that everyone should sit down. The villains especially.” He set his eyes at the corner.
Harley giggles in response, “Wouldn’t dream of doing anything big guy. Wonder Woman is here after all!”
"Shouldn't we all be finding a way to escape?" A redhead explains, "This was honestly not on my bucket list today. Waking up with Bruce Wayne beside me--no offense."
Bruce grunts in response, ignoring the way his children tried not to laugh at the redheaded man's comment.
She noticed a group of people now going closer to Wonder Woman. Younger in age, they all varied in appearances. One was light orange.
Wasn’t that Starfire?
She sits down hesitantly, avoiding the light to make sure they did not see her. Especially, Tim, he could not see her. Not now, maybe not ever.
Once everyone sat down, things were quiet.
People began to grow restless at the uncomfortable silence. The people who knew who were in this very room had begun to feel suffocated. They hoped this wasn't a trap from their greatest enemy.
A song began to play, one she recognized from her playlist.
Nothing scares me anymore. Kiss me hard before you go Summertime sadness
She stifles her gasp when the big screen flickers, showing a familiar face.
It was her.
She heard others who couldn’t quite hide their gasps while others murmured, wondering who she was.
Tim’s family definitely knew who she was.
She was smiling, her head tilted. Her hair flowed with the wind, sometimes getting in her face but not quite where she felt bothered by it. She still wore the same headphones.
Dressed differently than how she does now, she knew what was hiding behind that outfit. That bulky outfit that she collected from her own friends.
“I think you’re scared,” She laughs, talking to someone who was not shown on the screen. “Afraid you won’t catch me?”
That’s when everyone noticed where she was. On a high building, the colors became brighter as things began to glitch into place. This world was not there. But she still looked the same. How was this possible?
“I ain’t scared,” a deep voice responds, as a teen steps out into the shadows. A familiar face, adorned with piercings and the tiniest bit of smudged eyeliner, smirks at her. A suit, shredded in a way that screamed edgy was displayed as his outfit. “Think you're scared.”
The accent was unrecognizable to the ones living in Gotham.
“Come on Hobie! I can see you shivering in your platforms.” She shakes her head, stepping closer to the ledge. “You scaredy cat. I thought Pav was supposed to be the one scared.”
“Think that’s Meows,” The teen now known as Hobie reasons, “That man ain’t know how to catch a human.”
“Obviously, dumbass,” She rolls her eyes, “He’s a cat!”
“Don’t let him hear you say that,” Hobie warns, “Might wake up to ah dead rat in your bed.” He paused for a moment, before gesturing to her headphones, “ ‘Ink it’s ok to jump like tha’?
She fiddles with her headphones, “I like the hazard of being hung.” She shrugs shamelessly.
“Mmm,” Hobie steps closer, “Or is i’ that you don’ want to speak to Miguel?”
“No,” she immediately shoots back at him, “I don’t need his help.”
“Don’ you think it’s time to move on?”
“I have moved on, Mr. O’Hara is not a problem!” She exclaims, “Why does everyone think I’m in love with the guy? He's old!”
“Technically he was younger.” Hobie shrugs shamelessly, “Ain’t a problem to like older men. What about Oscar Isaac?”
The girl glared harder, “Do NOT bring Poe Dameron into this. This isn’t about him!”
“Suree,” Hobie drawls, “When are ya—“
He gets cut off with a jacket thrown at his face. When he pulls it off, she grins at him innocently.
“See ya around, Punk.”
And she jumps.
The screen turns dark at this, the people viewing it sharing looks of confusion and awe.
“So did she die?” Jason was the first to speak, shrugging shamelessly when Dick smacked his head in response.
“Obviously not,” Steph argues, “She’s my friend. I would know if she’s dead!”
"She always makes morbid jokes like this?" Duke questions Steph, who glares at him in return, "Hey--I'm just asking!"
Tim stayed quiet throughout this whole ordeal.
The screen flickers on.
But I got needs, yeah, I got needs. I want war, But I need peace And you kept calling me crazy But baby that's what you made me
“Have you ever been in love?” A teen asks, playing with his fries through the cane’s sauce. His chicken tenders were left untouched.
“I think everyone has been in love at least once now,” She responds back to the younger teen, taking a sip of her Sprite. “Why? Are you in love with Gwen?”
“Yeah,,,” He sighs, his eyes widening when he realizes what he said, “What! No, No— I have never been in love! Not with Gwen! Totally, definitely not. Not after what she did, siding with Mig—“ He stops, looking at her sheepishly.
“Sorry. I know how much you like him.” She scowls in response to his comment.
“I do NOT like Mr. O’Hara. Never will, Miles. Do not say that again, or I’ll tell Gwen you painted a mural for her.” She threatens, pointing a chicken tender at the teen now known as Miles.
“Okay! I promise! Sheesh— I should have never shown you!” Miles rubs his neck embarrassingly. He closes up his half-eaten box of chicken tenders.
“Back to patrolling?” She asks, throwing her own tray of food. “Wanna find a kid in need to give that to?”
Miles nods in response, walking out with her.
“So…who is your first love?” He questions her as they walk down the street together.
“He’s long gone.”
“Canon event?”
“Canon event.” She agreed.
“How—How did it happen?” Miles hesitantly asks.
She smiles sadly, “We heroes think we know everything. Think we’re saving everyone. We don’t see the struggles our loved ones are facing just by breathing every day.”
“Did he…”
“Yes, Miles. He did.”
The screen turns black.
“Well,” Barry scratches his head awkwardly, “This has been…informative…but who is she? Or anyone else shown? Or Miguel? The recurring character.”
“I think they’re real people, Barry.” Cyborg answers. “Real people dealing with real things.”
“Heroes,” Poison Ivy hisses, “Always heroes.”
I thought you were my new best friend. Wish I knew better then. Who knew you were just out to get me? My whole world just fell apart. Cause I never felt so alone, felt so alone.
She is pushed to the floor, huffing puffs of air into her lungs. She was tired. So so tired.
“Please Mr. O’Hara,” She gasps, “I can’t—I can’t take it anymore.”
“Heroes don’t give up.” An older man snarls in the dark, darting around the girl, “Heroes keep fighting. They never stop. We never stop.”
“You—“ She wobbles up to a fighting stance, surveying the dark room. She dodges his first attack, but the next hit her right in the stomach. She doubles over in pain. “You are no hero. After everything you did? This—This society is not—“
She gets cut off when he grabs her from behind, putting her in a chokehold, “Say that again, I dare you.” He hisses into her ear.
His face is clear. A man, tired from age and wrinkles adorning his face. His lips twisted up in a snarl, showing off his sharp teeth. His eyes glow red in response. His height compared to the girl was intimidating to the eyes.
She struggles against his hold, slamming her head back to hit his chin. He lets go as she pushes herself away. He loses his balance and grabs the first thing close to his vicinity.
He grabs her headphones.
Noises suddenly blossom everywhere, causing her to stumble to her knees. The noises grew louder as various voices surrounded her. The familiar humming of the machines is felt under her fingers, through the floor.
“It hurts so much!” She cries, holding her ears together, “Please, Please make it stop!” She rocks herself back and forth, screaming in the room that should have no noise. But her senses were enhanced. Too enhanced for her body to handle. She could not live a regular life without something blocking out most noises from the world.
As abrupt as it came, it suddenly stopped. A whirring sound connected to her ears adjusted her hearing to her surroundings. Her soft music starts to play once again.
She touches the back of her ears carefully, feeling an unfamiliar placement of a small mechanism there.
She looks up at Miguel who showed no response to what he had done. How he had just helped her.
“H-How—“ She murmurs, “How did you know?”
“I know everything about you. Was going to wait until you asked. How was I supposed to know that you’re a stubborn son of a bitch who is still in love with my counterpart? Avoiding your boss isn’t wise, you know. ”
She glares in response, “Was. And it wasn’t you. It never was you and you know that.”
“I know,” Miguel shifts his stance, “Let’s go again.”
“Okay so that’s Miguel,” Harvey cooed, “He’s so! Delicious! I wonder if he bites his lovers.” She giggles, squishing her cheeks together as she sways around.
“If it isn’t him, then who is it?” Bruce questions, “None of this is making any sense. Is she around? Can she answer questions?”
Before they could begin looking around, another scene begins.
What’s the kindest way to say You took away my friend, my buddy? What’s the kindest way to say. The end?
“Miguel!” She calls out, removing her shoes at the entrance of his place, “Your brother called me to check up on you! He’s been worried?” She has no answer in response.
“Miguel?” She questions, stepping farther into the dark apartment. There seemed to be nobody, but she knew better. She smells the blood from where she was.
“Don’t do this to me,” She whispers, “Come on, don’t do this…” She steps closer to the bathroom, the only place that had the lights on.
“Miguel? Are you—Are you in there?” She nudges the door open. But, she immediately falls back when she sees the familiar puddle of red.
There laid a younger Miguel, face clear of wrinkles. His eyes are closed, his hand holding a gun in return. She kneels down next to him, looking for his pulse. Anything to show that she wasn't too late.
There was nothing.
All she could see was the red on her hands. The red of his blood. His blood had been cold.
His body had been dead for hours.
She cried, holding his body close to her chest, feeling his cold skin against her warm skin. She felt his eyelashes against her cheek. She felt his lips on her neck.
She felt the gun wound on the side of his head.
The scene switches in front of a gravestone. There, an unfamiliar person stood in front of it. Her face was obscured by a motorcycle helmet. It glowed in response to her eyes, narrowed in the familiar spider eyes that they all had.
Her suit is predominantly displayed in several colors to blend in the night. The spider emblem was bright against her chest, glowing in response to her heart as if it was humming. As if it was alive and a part of her.
“I could have saved him.” She placed the flowers on the grave, pressing her hand against the cool surface.
“Gabriel texted me an hour before he shot himself. Gabriel could tell something was off but I was… patrolling. I was doing my job.”
The figure’s helmet disappeared as if it was never there, showing the girl they all had been seeing.
The girl they recognized now as one of the workers at the grocery store many frequented. The one that was posted on Tims and Steph’s Instagram page. The one Alfred spoke to for recommendations on items he should buy from the grocery store. The one who once met Dick when she had to file a police report for a robbery gone wrong.
She had been the one who secretly gave Duke an employee discount. The one who refused to sell Jason alcohol because his appearance didn’t match his age. She was the one who occasionally offered Cass affordable options for alternative clothing. She was the one who agreed to take in a cat that Damian could not keep. She was the one who Barbara frequently saw visiting the library.
Her eyes, tired from the lack of sleep she’s been getting, teared up at her thoughts, “He could have been alive. I could have saved him.”
“What kind of hero am I?” She whispered, “I’m so sorry Miguel.”
A voice calls out her hero's name. Quickly, her helmet appears again, covering her identity. She turns to narrow her eyes at the woman calling her name.
Jessica leaned against a tree. A brilliance of orange, red, and multiple shades of purple was behind her, “You ready to go? Gotta have your introduction to our Society first.”
“Yeah, yeah, Mom,” She shakes her head in response, walking towards the woman who was evidently pregnant, “Let’s get outta here. Who's your leader again?”
“You’ll see,” Is what Jessica responds. When they walk through the portal, it disappears as if it wasn’t there.
“Oh,” Barry responds dumbly, “That’s Miguel.”
“Why did she never tell us…” Steph whispers, turning to Tim, who turned a lighter shade. He looked sick to his stomach from the recent video.
How did he not notice she was going through something? How could he not push away his selfishness and see what was wrong? He should have. He definitely should have.
Afterall, that’s the girl he likes.
“Well technically he’s alive again, right?” Jason questions. “Mr. O’Hara dude? Anyone?”
“I don’t think…” Barbara hesitated, “I don’t think they’re the same person.”
“All evidence points that they are not the same. First, the age difference. Second, the comments everyone has been making in the videos.” Dick supplies helpfully.
“Then who is that guy?” Duke questions, “A clone?”
“Possibly.” Cass signs, “The pit?”
“No, that can’t be possible.” Talia, who had not shown she was there, spoke up, “I would know if he was dragged there.”
“Mother,” Damian scoffs, “Of course you would have a book keeping that.”
“Anyone going to talk about the portal? Hello?” Duke questions, receiving looks of equal confusion from the Waynes.
But I'm not like the others. I don’t always like what I have to do. But I know I have to be the one to do it. I’ve given too much to stop now.
“What’s this?” A familiar face pops up. It is Miles. A blue, glowing orb is represented in front of him in a dark room. He was wearing an unfamiliar suit with a familiar emblem.
“This is everything.” Miguel, in his glory, is in front of Miles. His height was terrifying and intimidating.
When the orb hits the floor, it suddenly begins to sprout in a bright blue light. It started to spread like blood pumping in veins.
“Can you be more specific?” Miles questions.
“Can you not talk for a second?” Miguel snarks back. Miles agreed.
Red had started to spread.
“This here…is all of us.”
“All of our lives, woven together in a beautiful web of life and destiny.”
“The Spider-verse,” Miles murmured.
“Spider-verse? Huh— that’s…stupid. It’s called the Arachno Humanoid Poly Multiverse.” Miles gave a look towards Miguel.
Miguel concedes, “Which sounds…stupid, too, I guess.”
“In these nodes where the lines converge?” Miles' sentence falls off but Miguel continues, “they are the canon.”
“Chapters that are a part of every spider's story, every time. Some good, some bad, some very bad.”
Different scenes and pictures are presented to Miles who looks in awe. When Miguel moved his hands, an array of heroes with similar suits showed up, kneeling over their loved ones body.
At the last one, it showed Miles losing his Uncle.
As Miguel continues to explain, the dread had started to pool in everyone's stomach. They weren’t liking where this was going.
As many spiders are shown, there are canon events. There was one that many recognized. The death of Miguel.
“Canon events are the connections that bind our lives together. But those connections can be broken. That’s why anomalies are so dangerous.”
Miguel had begun to grow more assertive towards Miles, showing him the problem he had caused with disrupting Pav’s canon event.
“You weren’t supposed to save him. That’s why Gwen tried to stop you.”
“I thought you were trying to save me.” Miles turned to an unfamiliar face, now known as Gwen. She looked guilty.
When Miles questions Miguel on how he knew this would happen, Miguel reveals his own secret.
“I found a world where I had a family, where I was happy.” The scenes shift to a little girl and Miguel, happy together. They were so happy, she did not have a clue on what was going to happen.
“At least a version of me was…and that version of myself was killed. So I replaced him.”
The girl's face was more clear, Miguel so happy—opposite of who he was now.
Citizens were running—from what they had no clue. But they feared for their lives. Miguel ran too, holding his sweet, sweet girl. He continued to run, despite the glitching she was experiencing.
She cries in fear, “Daddy! Dad! Dad, help!” Slowly but surely, she disappeared from his grip. She was gone, as if she was never there.
“We could lose everything.” Everything breaks all at once, disappearing from view.
“My dad is about to be Captain...” Miles realizes. It began panning to the people in the room. The familiar girl appeared, shifting her feet restlessly, free from her helmet.
Suddenly, Miles's spider senses began to overload. His memories continuously shift to an unfamiliar white figure and himself. The figure had abruptly turned pitch black, glitching as it ruined everything from its vicinity.
“I’m going to take everything from you, like you took everything from me.”
An unfamiliar cop was running towards a small child who was frozen in fear in front of a building that was collapsing.
Miles grew restless, asking Miguel of his fathers death.
“I’m sorry, Miles.” Miles refused the apology, asking, almost begging to be sent home.
“Send me home! What else am I supposed to do? Let him die?” The no response was a clear answer to him, but he could not accept it.
He began projecting towards Gwen, trying to make her see reason. Nobody was listening. Why was nobody listening?
He then attacks an unfamiliar man, holding a baby who cooed cluelessly at the situation. The man also deflected Miles’ projection.
“And you? What about you, huh? You said you’d do anything to go back in time! You won’t give me that chance either?” She looks away from Miles, feeling the tears stinging her eyes. She stayed silent, knowing what her answer was.
“So we’re just supposed to let people die just because some algorithm says that’s supposed to happen?”
“You have a choice between saving one person and saving an entire world—every world.”
“I can do both! Spider-man always—“ Miles gets cut off by Peter. That’s when Miles began to notice the people surrounding him.
“Being Spider-Man is a sacrifice. That’s the job and that’s what you signed up for.”
Miles grew more agitated at the people surrounding him.
“You should have never come to see me.” Miles directed to Gwen. His pain was reflected in his eyes. He turns his attention to Miguel, directly stepping forward to face the man. Their prolonged eye contact intensified the situation.
All of a sudden, Miles is trapped in red. He couldn’t get out. They weren’t letting him out. Why were they not letting him out? He bangs on the red blocking him from the rest as everyone argues in the background.
“Palms,” Hobie mouthed. With her helmet back on, the girl stepped closer to the red projection blocking her.
“Do what everyone else can’t, Miles.”
With that, Miles pressed his palms onto the red prison blocking him. Blue electricity ran through his fingertips and followed through his palms. He released his entire electricity current as the room erupted in the remains of the red prison. Many were hit on impact.
Miles breathed deeply, staring at the masked heroes who were gaining their senses back from the explosion.
“Run.”
“Spider-Verse,” Barry Allen gasps, “Is this the multiverse? But for them? Oh my god! This must mean she’s a part of this universe. We should find her, to ask her more about this Society. Are they like the Justice League?” He rambles as others groaned at his tangent. His voice sped up at the end, which caused everyone to realize how interested he was in the subject.
“Is Miguel a bad guy?” Jason questions instead, “Hell, he seems to play the role just fine.”
“Not necessarily,” Bruce argued, “It seems like he has a valid reason for doing so.”
“Yeah, but…would you not do anything if you knew of your future? I think Miles' feelings are valid.” Dick tries to reason with Bruce.
Damien scoffs, “Obviously not, Grayson. It would be a necessary sacrifice to lose one life over everyone.”
“It’s his father, though,” Steph meekly responds, “Tim? Back me up on this?”
“I…” Tim hesitates, “Maybe we should hear this from the source? The connection we all have?”
Before they can find her, the final scene begins.
I’m comin’ through with my crew to make ‘em pay. I don’t need no super suit, I’m feeling brave Don’t be a hero, turn around and walk away. Who in here tryna start a riot?
She hums as the lyrics fill her ears, packaging the orders for the recent customer who had used over 20 food stamps to lower her price. There was a maximum of 5 food stamps, and everyone knew the rules. But, she was feeling generous.
“I hope you have a nice day.” She smiles at her customer, a grateful mother who quickly deposited her bags into her trolley. The woman thanks her in response as she leaves.
“There seems to be a lockdown at a Wayne Gala. No bats seem to be near the premise as unfamiliar villains hold the citizens' hostage. These hostages include the Wayne Family…” The news continues speaking of the situation, the girl focusing on the broadcast.
“The villains seem to be demanding a hero. No heroes go by this name. A Spider…Woman? Do I hear this correctly?”
She tenses up at this, her eyes widening as the helicopter zooms closer to the villain closest to the window.
It was her Green Goblin.
Peter Parker.
“I—“ She looks at her coworker, who looks at her confusingly, “There’s been an emergency. I have to go.”
“Our boss will fire you if you leave!” Another coworker pipes up, “They’ll replace you, I don’t think—“
“Then I quit. I have to go.” With that, she removes her employee’s t-shirt, leaving it on the conveyor belt.
“I’m sorry, Stan,” she apologizes to her next customer, “Your groceries are on me.”
Stan waves her off, “Go save the world, kid.” With a confused look at him, she leaves the grocery store.
“What do we do?” Tim hisses, pointing a glare at Damian who was held down by Cass. They couldn’t believe they were being held by new villains.
“Stay put,” Bruce was on his phone, trying to get into contact with Barbara. “They stopped any communications from the outside. I can’t get through to O.”
“You think Red knows?” Dick questions beside him, “They all have to know what’s going on, right?”
“Like he’d come,” Damian scoffs, “He hates all of us.”
“He wouldn’t leave innocent civilians to die,” Dick shoots back, “He wouldn’t.”
“He totally would,” Tim argues, “These are all rich folks. He absolutely despises them all.”
With those final words, they all quieted down.
“They’re blocking all the exits,” Bruce says after a moment, “I thin—“ He gets cut off from a window smashing into themselves, an unfamiliar person jumping through the hole created. Screams are heard as many stepped back from the glass flying everywhere.
“Heard you were looking for me,” The voice calls out. Her helmet’s eyes narrowed at the main villain, who snarls in response, “Now I’m here, Parker.”
“It’s GREEN GOBLIN!” The villain roars angrily, “Peter Parker is not here right now.”
“Yeah, yeah,” The figure’s rolls her eyes—well helmets eyes, “Take that up with my boss.”
“It is idiotic for you to appear with no backup. All alone, bug?” Another voice hissed out, a black, looming figure that grinned. His array of teeth showed off the leftover blood from his past victims. His eyes, similar to the unfamiliar woman, grinned with his smile, “What a bad idea.”
“Bad, Bad idea.” Another voice agreed, a woman sitting atop the lights above the ballroom. The vulture squawked in laughter, giggling at the lonely woman.
“Ain’t got no friends,” cooed the lizard. Their voice, combined with many, left their identity unrecognizable. Their height overpowered the rest of the villains, nearly similar to Venom’s.
“Who says I came alone?”
With those words, different portals had begun to open around the room. Different figures stepped out, a specific two high-fiving one another.
“Spiders!” Doc Oc shouts, “There are more!”
A portal opened up near the Wayne’s. Bruce protectively put himself in front of his kids. What a way to protect them when he couldn’t before.
The man loomed at Bruce, tilting his masked face at the family. He was silent for a moment.
“You Batman?” The man asks, “Don’t worry. We got this from here.” With those words, the man began instructing the other spiders.
“Byte! Get the civilians out of here. Escort them to the nearest exits.” He calls out, hearing confirmation from a woman who glowed blue.
“Pav, you and Punk get the Lizard. Try not to get bitten by them.”
“Aye aye, Captain!” Pav salutes, running towards Lizard who growled in anger. He swipes at Spider-Punk, who easily dodges his attacks.
“Web-slinger! Vulture is coming at you!” A shot resonated in response. Everyone grew nervous, looking at the man in a cowboy outfit. The man was not who they were freaked about. It was the horse that was matching with him.
Venom stepped forward, grinning at the cat dressed similarly to one of the other spiders. The cat blinked up at the man-eating villain. No thoughts behind his expression.
“Someone get the cat away from Venom!” He hears another confirmation as Gwen scoops up Meows Morales before Venom can take a bite. With the both of them, they both decided to prance around Venom.
Jessica Drew revved her motorcycle engine, lining the floor with her wheels as she guides her motorcycle to hit Doc Oc head-on. She grins in return, her belly no longer evident.
“All that leaves is…”
Green Goblin snarls at the fights surrounding him, avoiding the hits from the woman in the helmet. “Focus on our fight, Parker! Don’t want nobody to steal your attention!” She snarks, finally kicking him in the stomach.
His glider slams into her back at the same time. She grunts in frustration, grabbing at the ends of the glider and hitting him with it instead. “Coward!”
“Mierda…” The man whispers, “Stand down, Astro!”
The woman whips her head at him in response to her nickname. The nickname to tell a difference between the Spider’s when in battle.
“Stand down.” The man asserted, “I’ll handle this.”
“Old man,” she replies back, grunting suddenly as she avoids the onslaught of Green Goblin who continues his relentless attacks, “He’s my villain. I’ll handle this.”
“They’re all your villains, kid.” He replies back, joining her in the fight. Green Goblin screams are filled with pure malice at the continuous attacks from both sides. “Go get the Wayne’s out. And suited.”
“Suited? I don’t know if you’re delusional but they are in suits.”
“Stop ignoring me! At once!” Green Goblin screams, pulling at his mask as he slams it down angrily.
“Shut up Parker!” They both snapped at the villain. The man turns to Astro, “They’ll know what you mean.”
With one final punch to Green Goblin, she lets Miguel handle the rest. As she walks closer to the Wayne’s, Miguel is shown behind her, his eyes from his mask shifting to glare at Green Goblin. Miguel slams him to the ground, sitting on his back as the Green Goblin’s face smooshes against the floor. Miguel’s face is obscured from sight, no one could tell what he had planned. When his mask dematerializes, Miguel bites down with a small grunt.
Green Goblin howls in pain, feeling himself go slack in Miguel’s grip. Miguel stands up, his mask back on, blocking his face from the viewers.
“Oh he’s definitely dead.” Cass confirms.
“He isn’t,” the woman is in front of them, tilting her helmet at the Wayne’s. “Mr. Bossman says you all should suit up. I’m sorry, I think he has bad eyesight.”
“How—“ Bruce glares around the room, seeing the various heroes bring the villains down. Venom, who was now a red headed woman, was knocked out cold. The cat held a vile with an angry, black slug.
The Lizard was entangled in two different webs and slackened into himself as Pav and Punk high-fived one another. They ignored the look they received from Miguel, who had paralyzed their opponent.
Doc Oc talked into themselves with their limbs, murmuring an apology to Jessica. They had a look of pure embarrassment with how they hung upside down.
Vulture pouted from under the horse, who absentmindedly licked the sugar given Web-Slinger. He smoothened out his horse’s mane, softly cooing at them.
“How does he know who I am?” Bruce asks her.
“He knows everyone, Mr. Wayne. Can’t hide anything. Believe me, I’ve tried to hide my weed.” She jokes. The only one who let out a laugh was Dick, who immediately covered it up.
“That was a joke.”
“So he definitely knows.” Tim spoke up from the uncomfortable silence. “He literally said your alias, Bruce.”
“Bruce Wayne is Batman?!” Harley screeches, “I knew it! I totally knew it!”
“No, you didn’t,” Poison Ivy frowns, “You thought Jon Bernthal was Batman.”
“Does that mean…he knows everyone else?” Jason asks, “And is anyone going to mention how he bit that villain? Literally nobody?”
“Is nobody going to talk about the cat?!” Damian hisses, “Alfred can do the same!”
“Do not get any ideas, Master Damian,” Alfred reprimands.
“Guess I need to reintroduce myself.” She spoke up, standing from her position as she waved at everyone who snapped their head towards her.
She grins, her facade of the normal grocery store employee fading from their view. Her clothing shifted in their eyes as the suit began to materialize against her skin.
She gives her name, “I’m one of the many Spider-Woman from the multiverse…although your universe is a completely different path with their own worlds intertwined . I just decided to land in the less…traumatic one.”
“I’m your world's only Spider-Woman, Astro Spider.” She makes eye contact with Tim, her smile widening.
“It’s nice to finally meet this world’s heroes.”
I hope you find some peace of mind in this lifetime. Tell them, Tell 'em, Tell them the truth.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 🤍
Thank you so much for including me!! My favorite fics I've written (these will all be DinLuke):
No Glory in the West (83.6k words, Rated T, Graphic Depictions of Violence)
This was my first long fic in fandom and I loved writing every single word of it! At the time, I didn't see any other Western-themed work in the fandom and wanted to be the change I saw in the world. I really can't exaggerate on this, but writing this story changed my life. Since writing it, it's kinda taken a life of its own and inspired various other authors and artists to keep writing about those damn lovestruck cowboys. Anytime I've had the chance to affect someone's life, whether it's the folks that tell me they downloaded my story to read on a flight or the person that told me their fiance was sick of hearing them talk about The Cowboy Story, it tickles the hell out of me. It's an honor and a privilege to be a part of y'all's lives in some way, even if I help you annoy your significant other.
The Once and Future King (Ongoing; 88.8k words, Rated T, Graphic Depictions of Violence)
She's ongoing (and I take a long time churning out these chapters), but I love this story! I'm honestly never not thinking about TOAFK, never not jotting down lines and scenes and researching Arthuriana and courtly love and and and and. Not only is this a chance to write the Mand'alor Din storyline that I want to see, replete with the kind of romance that personally drives me crazy and the eldritch freaky space beings that I need, it's also a chance to explore the dynamics of power and politics in relation to religion and myth. I hope, if you're one of the ten people that read this story, these questions also keep you up at night.
Mornings of Gold, Valentine Evenings (25.3k words, Rated T)
This story was such a joy to write! Written for the unique crossover of the thirsty ice sports enjoyers and the Star Wars people. Most of whom are Canadian, apparently. This is another story that seems to affect people in the most interesting ways - I had a lovely commenter tell me they thought about my story while talking about the urban effects of hosting an Olympics while in a college class. I laughed so hard thinking about using an AO3 story in a bibliography page that I probably scared my cat.
AO3 user leorizanzel: writing Star Wars men kissing tenderly while also exploring the ramifications of hosting major international events in cities that were not built for such a purpose. Non-attributively, of course. Please do not actually put me in your works cited page; I don't know if I can handle the pressure of being used as a Source.
Bright is the Moon, High in Starlight (17k words, Rated T, Graphic Depictions of Violence)
I loved writing this piece so much - Regency-era werewolves and cravats and tea and foggy moors in the light of the full moon?? Transatlantic romances? Facing a monster out of sheer love, finding the humanity in the monstrous, and self-sacrifice because it's the right and noble thing to do??
Idk, she's everything to me.
East of the Sun, West of the Moon (3.2k words, Rated G)
A short piece written for DinLuke Positivity Week that was yet another excuse to write a courtly love, knight-and-king story full of daring deeds and ritual and the kind of romance that I prefer reading - once again, being the kind of change I want to see in the world.
Thank you so much for giving me the chance to talk about my work! I feel awful for not being as productive as I used to, but I'm still around - ever present, ever lurking.
#dinluke#lukedin#skydalorian#rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated etc. I am still very much alive#grad school is killing meeeeeeee

Breaking down the comics: Soldiers (Punisher Annual #2: Knight Fall)
You guys. YOU GUYS.
I am so excited to bring you this next one for SO MANY REASONS.
The first reason is that this is the FIRST Moon Knight comic I ever read.
And this comic os pure WTFer set off an obsession that has directed the course of my life for over ten years now.
Marc Spector: Moon Knight
Punisher Annual #2: Knight Fall. 1989
Written by: Mike Baron
Art by: Bill Reinhold
Gerbil: Tom DeFalco
(Tom is the editor in chief for Marvel at the time)
We got ourselves a Punisher Annual with a Moon Knight guest appearance!
Now I’ve talked about guest appearances again and again and again. It usually means that the guest star is going to show up HUGE on the cover with some dramatic depiction in an attempt to lure in more new readers to the title comic.
But look at this comic cover. This isn’t Moon Knight showing up to save the day or in a little blurb bubble or box. He’s battling Frank! This looks more like a cross-over style comic! Those always depict the main character FIGHTING the other guest star! And damn if this cover isn’t amazing. Look at those two locked in close quarter combat! And that dagger! This might be a Punisher comic, but Moon Knight isn’t about to roll over!
Now, as we all have come to expect, when you have a crossover for the first time, the two characters always spend the first couple pages fighting in some misunderstanding before they make up and team together to fight the real bad guys. But Punisher takes no quarter and Moon Knight is grumpy at best.
Alright, so we open up on a Long Island Petshop where a Mr. Morton is purchasing Gerbils for their kids.
For those that do not know, a Gerbil is about the size of a large mouse with a long tufted tail and kangaroo like hind feet. They're fast, bite hard, and are fun. (I used to own them as a kid for many years and loved them).
They actually aren’t that well known, even though you can always find them in pet shops next to the hamsters. I wonder why they chose gerbil over say, mice or rats or hamsters. I get the feeling there was some inside joke among the writers here.
…..Oh.
Snake guy. Got it.
MARC.
Marc… “That man just ate a gerbil! Why does it set off all my emergency alarm bells?”
Marc…
So... After that... Marc calls up Frenchie on his radio and tells him that he's tailing a car and gives him details on the vehicle.
"Oui, Marc, what's up?"
"I'm not sure... Maybe nothing."
MARC SPECTOR. You just watched a man eat a gerbil in a pet shop....WHOLE. What do you mean 'Nothing'?!
He tails the car to an old run down mansion .
"That's the old Borgwardt estate--It's been taken over by something called Save Our Society... Time to head home."
Frenchie confirms the car info with Marc. It is registered to the SOS non-profit agency that is privately funded by physicians.
"Sort of an east coast version of the Betty Ford Clinic. Why would a man eat a gerbil?"
Marc… You have fought werewolves. You fought a literal rat king. We’ve seen you fight ghosts and get your ass handed to you by a snake.
AND WHAT ARE YOU WEARING!? Does Steven know you’re wearing his clothes?
He asks Frenchie to dig into the petstore's files and get him a credit card for the guy that ate the gerbil and an address.
Meanwhile, we meander on over to the star of our show:
"Punisher's War Journal-- I've been on the trail of Ralph Newton, a junkie who makes a living ripping off old ladies' social security checks. Two weeks ago he pushed a seventy year old woman down a flight of stairs and she died. Newton seemed to have disappeared, butt now I have a lead--This shooting gallery in the Bronx."
For those of you unaware of the Punisher, here's a brief howdy-do for you!
The Punisher, AKA, Frank Castle. Originally a VietNam vet who came back with a little PTSD. His family (wife and child) were murdered by the mafia and Frank decided he'd had enough of evil in the world. He makes it his life's work to hunt down and kill anyone that makes it a living to hurt people.
Historically, the other heroes (ESPECIALLY DareDevil and Captain America) despise Frank and often rally the other heroes to try to hunt him down and stop him from continuing his war on crime.
He got his start in a Spider-Man comic of all places and branched out from there.
Frank is a pretty gruff and serious man and depending on who is writing him and what series you are reading, he can be pretty violent.
War Journal was a very popular series where he drives around in his Battle Van and writes about his missions. It works nicely because Frank isn’t much of a social man. So if you rely on the story conversations, like in all the other comics, you aren’t going to get much. But having him writing things down in his journal you get a beautiful narration that reads like a Noir film and you also get a fantastic way to get to know Frank and how he thinks. I appreciate it.
Often when Frank meets up with other heroes, there is a fight with them telling him he's wrong for killing and them eventually trying to stop him.
Now, we know he's going to meet up with Marc in this. And I am so excited for you guys to see this epic encounter.
So we see Frank in his usual attire walk up to a safe house and knock on the door.
He gets the guy to open the door posing as a seller.
Yeah. By now, everyone knows what it means when they see that skull design.
"Junkies. I swear they don't feel pain. You've got to break something before they stop coming at you."
Frank shoots all but one. He tells the remaining guy he's looking for Newton.
Lucky for the junkie he says he last saw Newton going into a rehab clinic saying he was going to get straight.
So Frank heads up to the clinic. It's a Save Our Society clinic.
"The place reeks of sweat and stale cigarettes, ashtrays filled to overflowing."
Man that's good Noir.
Frank walks up to the main desk (in his street clothes, which just means he put on a turtle neck and a coat).
"Department of social services. I'm here to verify our use of federal funds."
"I'm sorry, sir. There must be some mistake. This clinic is privately funded --we receive no federal funds."
"*SIGH* Sounds like another department screw-up. Could I speak to your director?"
(What works about this is that no one actually knows what Frank Castle looks like! He doesn’t need a disguise. Everyone knows him by what he wears. They see the giant skull and the guns. It WORKS. And Frank is surprisingly good at acting. He knows the system.)
He's told that the director isn't in. She's Leona Hiss. (Hiss? Really? We're going there?)
Frank heads to get info from Microchip. Hey! Microchip! I missed him!
Microchip was Frank's old tech guy. He was the man in the van that would give Frank info and hack into things for him.
I'd say they were good friends...But Frank doesn't have friends. I'd give you spoilers on what eventually happens to Microchip but... It's kinda a BIG spoiler and maybe someone here wants to head on over into Punisher land. So I'll leave it at that. (I came to Moon Knight from Punisher land. It was all thanks to this crossover comic… so I guess their ploy really does work sometimes.)
Anyways... Microchip looks up this Leona Hiss person.
A widow of an anesthesiologist who started the clinics to help drug addicts. He goes on and on and tells Frank it "Smells like a smoke screen. All her life, the lady shuns publicity. Now all of a sudden she's a big philanthropist?"
Man, look at that light and shadow in the first panel. This art team is amazing.
Frank sets up position on a roof across from the clinic.
"Clock Street's eerily alive at two A.M. I see a knife fight, several drug deals...Lights are burning in the clinic but no one's entered or left. There are guards on the roof. Better move.
I take position a block away, behind the clinic. I can easily make my way back over the rooftops--Nobody's watching back here. Overhead, a faint Whoosh. Some kind of high-tech chopper."
Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh boy.
(This art. This art is SLAYING.)
Oh man. Look at this meet up. Frank and his shotgun, Moon Knight facing him down.
They know who each other are! Every time Moon Knight meets up with someone he has to introduce himself! No one knows who he is! But Frank knows him. And Moon Knight doesn’t call him Frank. He knows who he is dealing with.
Oh man, that cover called for such an epic showdown. Both ex-marines. Both know how to handle themselves.
Uh.
“I presume we’re both interested in Save Our Society.”
“Right this afternoon I saw a man eat a gerbil. He came from here.”
“What’s his name?”
"Helmut Snead. He used a solen credit card. Six feet, brown eyes, scar above his left eye."
"Ralph Newton--A Junkie Murderer. What's he doing on Long Island?"
"I don't know--But he didn't look like a junkie. I want to know how he got out of the South Bronx and into a fancy clinic."
"How would you take this guy out?"
WHAT IS HAPPENING.
This is incredible. You have no idea.
Frank doesn't have friends. Frank doesn't do team-ups. Frank is brutal and tells it like it is.
And this isn't Frank being the victim to a new writer making nice in someone else's ball park. This is a PUNISHER comic. Moon Knight is the visitor.
And on that note... MARC doesn't have friends. MARC doesn't play well with others. We literally just came off of him being a part of the West Coast Avengers and leaving because he doesn't team well!
And here these two are, meeting for the first time and being BFF.
In fact, the fact that they already know who one another is despite never meeting means that they have heard others talk about them. And when people talk about the Punisher or Moon Knight, they generally don't have good things to say!
So these two heard "Yeah he's a brutal lunatic" they went "I gotta meet this chap."
I can't stress enough how amazing this is.
Frank is even asking Moon Knight to show how he'd take down a guy. He wants to see how Moon Knight works. And Moon Knight is letting Frank go first.
THIS in itself is amazing. Why? Because we have two highly skilled specialists from a high combat militarized zone that were both known for ambush settings and traps.
They know everything about this building isn't reading right, they have seen some guards and they don't know what's going on inside. So they are essentially walking into an unknown through a closed space doorway into a stairwell with numerous blind spots and possibilities for traps/ambushes.
If it were anyone else, Marc would go first to clear the way and possibly take that first hit because he knows he can take it.
BUT. If you REALLY look at it, Frank is older than Marc. Frank went to 'Nam. Frank has been at this longer and has turned New York into his own personal jungle.
He offers Frank the lead out of respect AND because he knows and Frank knows that if anything is out of the ordinary, Frank will spot it FIRST and deal with it.
This is grade A military tactics and my lord it’s beautiful.
And you know what?
Frank’s history is that he was team leader. And when Marc gives him lead, Frank takes it and Marc RESPECTS him. They are both used to working in this sort of setting.
And when you think about it, Marc was NEVER the leader. He followed other people. Bushman was his leader. Marc joined other groups and let other people tell him what to do. If he didn’t like it, he went off and joined a new group.
So when Frank says “Hold it….!” he is treading Marc like an officer under him and he has now automatically accepted Marc as following him and thus putting him under his protection. This is beautiful. I could wax on about this all day you guys.
Uh… Back to the comic. So… Frank spots a Black Mamba that’s sluggish from being in a cold setting.
Marc makes light chatter (he’s kinda of a goof and light chatter is what he does.) Frank quiets him. He knows there’s trouble ahead.
In the next room, we find a junky going through withdrawal and begging the doc to hurry up.
The 'doctor' injects him with something just as Frank and Marc bust in.
"Hello, Ralph. I didn't know you had a license to practice medicine... And only last week you were a lousy junkie..."
"Punisher!"
"Drop the needle."
"I don't think so.... SSSST!"
And the 'Doctor' suddenly has a snake tongue and snake eyes.
This bodes well.
Frank opens fire on his target and it hardly phases him.
"What have we stumbled into? They move slowly but they don't feel any pain." Moon Knight calls out while pummeling one of the snake guys.
"It's the cold. [....] Reptiles. The colder it gets, the slower they move. You saw Ralph eat a gerbil--Snakes eat gerbils. This place looks like a herpetology lab."
Very astute Frank.
They manage to take down all the snake guys and Moon Knight asks if he recognizes any of them.
Frank recognizes a couple of them as crackheads and various junkies.
They find Ralph to be a card carrier for S.O.S.
"Last week he's a junkie with an armful of holes and this week he's front man for a fancy long island cure club."
"I think we know where to go next. Why don't you come with me in the chopper?"
"Thanks, I will."
(WHY ARE THEY SO POLITE TO ONE ANOTHER. IT'S SO OVER THE TOP.)
So... Frank takes a ride in Marc's chopper.
"Nice set-up. How do you keep the engines so quiet?"
"It's a new kind of fiberglass packing."
And they arrive back at the mansion.
"Come on in--I've got a war room. We'll do a little digging."
"This place is a little ostentatious, don't you think?"
"There are so many private choppers flying in and out of the neighborhood nobody notices mine--Especially at night. The surrounding mansions and trees also cover our entrances and exits from the concealed hangar."
I don't think that's what he meant by ostentatious, Marc.
Inside, Frank, Marc, and Frenchie stand around a table with some maps.
Marc tells Frank about the Borwardt estate he initially tracked snake man to earlier.
"I ran a check on cult leaders and you'll never guess who was released from a federal prison last month--Viper."
Frenchie tells Frank who Viper is.
"She used to head up zat facist group Hydra, zen she went solo. She was busted in connection with the so-called snake riot in washington last year...[....] A mass hallucination where people believed they turned into snakes. I also learned that Viper was recently sprung from prison by a Dr. Tyrone."
We head on over to SOS where we see a green lady, "Madam Viper".
She is in a room of snake men who are 'newly converted'.
They say they are hungry and Viper tells them that they have "a rabbit, five hamsters and a gerbil. We'll have to make another run to the pet store soon."
She has a bit of a thing for hitting people with a whip and demanding that they all call her 'Madame Viper'.
She is then informed that the other clinic was hit and that Newton is dead.
She sends the new snake men out to the yard for guard duty. She's pretty sure SHIELD is out to get her. Which makes sense since she worked for Hydra.
Unfortunately for her, it's far from shield.
Overhead, we find the Moon Copter flying by and Moon Knight drops in with his cape and Frank drops in on a glider.
The guards immediately open fire on them and Frank returns fire.
FRANK. DO NOT ENCOURAGE HIM.
….I don’t know if I should count this as a window dive or not. It’s tempting. I’m not going to count it. He decides to abstain from window entrance for once.
Unfortunately for Frank, he runs in without checking around and Marc isn't there to watch his six.
Madam Viper jumps him and injects him with a serum.
Now... Unfortunately for her... Frank has never responded well to drugs of any sort. He's got a history of this not going well for people that try to drug Frank Castle.
He doesn't go down.
In fact, it actually makes him go a little berserk. A berserk Frank Castle is NEVER something anyone wants to face.
He’s doing fine.
She makes a run for it.
Elsewhere, Moon Knight is fighting his own snake man army.
"Lets of gunfire and then it stopped! The time to start worrying about Punisher is when the gunfire stops.
Viper injects one of her larger helpers turning him into a very large and strong snake man.
Moon Knight faces off with the big snake guy. His usual methods of just 'hit it as hard as I can' doesn't work. They don't feel pain thanks to the drugs.
He's wearing a heat pack to keep him moving so Moon Knight decides to take this outside and....WINDOW! WE GOT A WINDOW!
I mean… This one was legit. And he was exiting with a good reason… But I’m still counting it.
Heat pack removed and out in the cold air, the lizard guy goes down easy.
Moon Knight goes to find the Punisher now.
He finds a room full of bodies and Frank in the middle having a lovely hallucination time.
In the window outside, Marc watches a rocket thing take off with Viper escaping in it to fight another day.
Marc manages to distract frank with his crescent darts, moving them around and letting the light reflect off of them in a hypnotic way. This lets him get close enough to take away Frank's gun.
At this point, Frank calms down and the adrenalin that was coursing through his system and probably helping to stave off the toxic affects of the drugs wears off.
Frank goes into convulsions and Moon Knight moves to get him out of there. Not to mention the cops are starting to show up and they need to leave.
The cops have never been fans of Punisher (Despite what the right wing wants you to think when they put punisher logos on their giant trucks) and Frank has never liked the cops. Time to leave!
Marc takes Frank back to his mansion and puts him to bed.
I kid you not.
This... This is a thing that happens a lot. He did the same thing to Jack Russel. Just... Take the drugged up guy home and let him sleep it off in his big bed in the mansion.
Frank has a rough night, hallucinating and putting up a big of a fight but he sleeps it off.
The next day, he wakes up feeling a bit better.
And it ends here. Frank heading off to his next mission and Marc casual as hell as he watches his new buddy leave.
Again I’m going to say it. WHAT.
You don’t understand just HOW bizarre this issue was. ON BOTH SIDES. Frank was so…NICE… Marc was so amendable! They acted like long lost friends! WHAT WAS WITH THE CONSTANT REFERENCES TO GERBILS?! Why does Marc keep putting drugged up men in his bed? Why was he wearing Steven’s clothes? I have so many questions.
And from this casual weird encounter… An obsession was born.
ALRIGHT. Let’s talk about why this works. (This is gonna get long. You can stop here if you don't want to hear me ramble and are just here for the comics).
In the Marvel universe (616), we have a lot of veterans of different wars.
WWII has Captain America, Bucky, and Nick Fury
Vietnam has Frank Castle.
Wolverine....a lot of wars. All the wars. Every war.
Apparently Charles Xavier was in the Korean war (I didn't know that)
Ben Grimm was in the Marines before his space accident (Awww. Another thing for him to bond with Marc over.)
Then of course you have Carol Danvers who worked for the CIA in the cold war.
Rhodes (War Machine) who was in Afghanistan and Vietnam.
There are a LOT of veterans of different wars and different time periods (Marvel time is a soup).
The initial problem was which war. And this is where we are going to once more step onto the Drifting Pieces History soap box.
We all know the saying “There’s no good war”. But that’s not right. Not according to politics and public opinion.
To be a veteran of WWII was a noble and good thing. You fought a clear cut enemy, (nothing worse than a Nazi) liberated suppressed people, and most important, you came home a winner.
What’s that? There was another war? In Korea? Never heard of that one. We totally didn’t go to Korea and fail miserably and we certainly aren’t going to talk about what happened over there.
Oh look, Vietnam! The first publicly broadcasted war. Not like “The Whole World is Watching”. Oh no, the average citizen is suddenly getting their first look at what happens in war. Oh no, it’s not as nice and pretty as it’s supposed to be. No one talked about the atrocities that were committed by the good guys in WWII! And the Korean War certainly didn’t happen.
This was the first war where American soldiers came home and were shunned. They were booed. They lost their jobs, lost their homes, and lost their families. Disgraced and forgotten by their country and their people.
So we have nice shiny Captain America. A literal representation of the good of America and ideal soldier, punching Nazi and saving people in WWII.
Then we have Frank Castle, a dirty soldier from Vietnam. I’m sure people screamed “Baby killer” at him fresh off the plane. What’s that? Frank served THREE tours in Vietnam?! He was the sole survivor of a huge ambush? He was awarded the Medal of Honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Navy Cross, Silver and Bronze stars, and four Purple Hearts? That don’t mean shit to the average citizen that only cares about two things: 1. We lost. 2. We shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
So he comes home, one of the best Marines in the business, and he’s got nothing.
He gets married to a sweetheart, has two kids (a little girl and boy), and settles in living an ideal life. A quiet life. Too quiet. Frank’s got a little PTSD going on and he was very good at what he did. He didn’t want to leave. He was good over there. He was respected. He was needed.
But he’s doing the best he can. Until that’s taken away from him in an event he’d seen over and over again in war. Blazing gun fire and his family is gone.
He gets revenge. But there’s a problem. He isn’t seen as a loving family man that takes down the people that murdered his kids and wife. He’s seen as a violent ex-soldier from Vietnam that’s gone crazy and is shooting up the place.
They say that for Frank, “the war never ended. It just changed missions.”
And all these other Heroes that are also veterans? They came from good wars. Captain America spouts speeches of being a Good Soldier at Frank. He doesn’t know what it’s like to question if the bad guy really is the bad guy.
If Frank hadn’t of been such a family man, he would have made an amazing mercenary. The best there was.
But then you have Marc Spector. He went to war to escape trauma. He was good. He was VERY good at what he did. And dollars to donuts, he heard about another Marine that was also very good named Francis Castiglione.
But Marc could only be good so long as it wasn’t obvious that his mental illness was a thing. Even if he lied signing up for the military, when he took the jobs working for SHIELD and the CIA, they HAD to know about his history in the mental hospital. But the second he starts to dissociate in public, he’s kicked out. Can’t have a mentally ill person hanging out around all those weapons, right? I’m sure that’s what they told themselves as they kicked him to the curb.
Marc could have gone home here. He’d have been a disgraced hero, sitting on the side of the road on a Veteran hat asking for change. But Marc was still running. He didn’t have a childhood sweetheart waiting for him. He had trauma.
So Marc carries on the mission and he’s GOOD. And he’s a follower. He likes being told what to do. It prevents him from thinking and taking responsibility. If people get hurt, it isn’t his fault.
Now Frank is very thorough. There’s a chance that the first time he hears about a new Superhero showing up in Manhattan he immediately looks into it. He’s got access to SHIELD info. He finds out who Marc Spector is and he sees another soldier that was let down by his country. Another soldier that was looking to make a wrong right despite how the war went.
And Marc? Frank’s a hero. He’s tough. He does what needs to be done to keep people safe. Frank’s a leader and he takes care of his soldiers.
They look at one another and see soldiers struggling to find their place here in the normal life again because they never HAD normal lives to begin with.
Moon Knight is the only one who can probably understand where Frank is coming from and not judge him.
Much later on in the comics, when Moon Knight is desperately trying to fit in with the Avengers and be a better hero, we see him come up against Frank again. Frank understands what Moon Knight is trying to do and he asks him if he really thinks it’s going to work.
And despite how everything else was going in that particular run (a lot. A lot was going), it was a very real moment. Frank saw through him. I’ll get more into it later when we eventually get there. But man… These two together both make me so happy and also break my heart.
ANYWAY. Uh… Long extended explanation over! I love this issue with my whole everything.
This writer? This artist? Why couldn’t THEY have been the ones to take over the Marc Spector run? They get it! Look how pretty they make him! Look at all that cape action!
They even get the dichotomy of Marc in this time. We may not have STEVEN, but did you see the way Marc was dressed in the mansion? How very Steven -esque. Even the way he treats Frank at the end there.
UGH I could go on about this all day. I’m going to stop here before I write a dissertation. I HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT THIS OKAY.

More of the Star Wars crossover: this Khonshu is some kind of large bird-headed alien, and also, a cranky old Force ghost.
Most people can't see or hear him, so for a long time, his only outlet was to yell at Marc (and sometimes Poe or Jake -- they kept him away from Steven). As you can probably guess, this did not help with the crankiness.

Twice Moon-Born: Part 2
Not much to say, wanted to continue this one. Enjoy and be gentle
---
Poe Dameron had lost his mind. It only made sense. His mind had been torn at like an excitable child on Life Day pouncing on their gifts, then he'd been in a crash violent enough to render him unconscious for at least an hour. The interrogation had loosened a screw in his head and then the brain damage from the crash knocked it right out.
His skull-headed companion was proof of that.
Poe marched on through the sands, eyes focused stright ahead. "Why do you persist with this idiotcy?" the hallucination asked, mild exasperation in every echoed word. "Because you're not real," Poe replied despite knowing that doing so was unhealthly. But, until he was back around others who could confirm this fact, saying it aloud would have to do.
The hallucination sighed and shook its head. "What would it take to disprove you of this notion?" it asked through gritted beak. "Someone else who can see you!" Poe shouted into its face.
Silence.
"Very well then," the hallucination towered over Poe, its shadow hiding him from the moonlight, "Jake Lockley, come forward!" Poe looked about, trying to hide his hesitation behind a laidback twirl on the spot. "Looks like nobody else is here, guess you'll have to wait," Poe snarked at the figure as he rubbed his head slightly.
Stress headaches were hardly new to him, yet this one seemed to grow quickly. The world felt strange as it did, like the headache was somehow warping things around him. After an eternity, it passed into a much worse feeling.
For one terrifying moment, Poe thought that Kylo Ren had found him. He felt fuzzy around the edges, growing panic at his unmoving limbs making it worse. Then his arm moved from his head and a familar voice spoke: "Easy hermanito," the voice from the transport said through his lips, "You're ok, tranquilo." "What, is this?" Poe panted inside his own head, "Who are you?" "Co-fronting," the person possessing Poe stated, "And were you not paying attention? I'm Jake."
"No, no, this is not real. This isn't happening!" Poe yelled and mentally struggled. It had been a trap, Ren had somehow inserted this...thing into his head to use his body as a threat to the Resistance. No, he would die before he let that happen.
Jake was still secure in his place in front. "Think it might take a bit more to get him to understand, jefe." "Indeed," Khonshu sighed for the third time that night. As Khonshu tapped his sceptre on the sand in thought, Poe could feel another presence slide in beside him. "Maybe," a new voice began, "We should try something different? A little trip down memory lane, perhaps?"
Khonshu and Jake hesitated then nodded in sync. And Poe felt himself being dragged under.
---
Poe woke with a gasp. Fingers at once scrabbling for purchase as he flung himself up and out of the box he was in. Only once his back was touching a wall, did Poe let himself observe his surroundings.
He was in a small room, walls and floor pure white. In fact, the only thing in the room that wasn't white, was the box Poe had been in. It was several colours, most prominently a very familar shade of orange, with markings and images inscribed both inside and out. The lid sat on the ground nearby, the face on it and the general shape made clear its purpose.
Shuddering, Poe pushed his way out of that room and slammed the door shut. Which is when he noticed. He was in his flight suit, flack vest and gloves missing, the boots replaced by plain white shoes. Breathing deeply, Poe pressed his head into the door as he thought over what to do.
"Find out where I am, what is going on, who they were, if that was real, if this is real, and go from there." Yeah, that sounded like a good start.
The halls, it turned out, were almost the same as the room, pure white with doors lining the walls. The main difference almost lined the walls, those same symbols and images patterned the walls in muted tones. Not any language Poe was familar with, but clearly a language regardless.
Poe pressed his hand against what looked like a depiction of the hallucination. What did it mean? "Hello," Poe jumped at the voice and spun, ready to attack. Its owner shrieked. It was, just like the whole place, dressed in pure white from head to toe. Formal wear of some sort with a cloth mask covering their face. And glowing white eyes.
"Oh my days," the figure gasped as he grasped his chest, "Oh, that was a fright." "Where am I?" Poe demanded. "Headspace," the figure amacably answered, slapping his chest as if to reset his heartrate. "And why am I in headspace?" Poe asked even if what he really wanted to ask was "what is headspace?" "For answers, of course."
The figure gently took Poe by the hand and together they walked down the hall, passing row after row of identical doors, until they turned a corner. "Each of these doors holds a memory," the figure plucked their handkerchief from their breast pocket, a new one pushing up from underneath, "Of which can be walked through."
After several quick scribbles, he passed Poe the handkerchief. "Underlined are the answers to your questions. The others are just, additional bits of context. Might help, but you can skip them if you want." "And the double underlined ones?" "...Might get a bit, much," the figure said eventually, "If it does get too much in those ones, feel free to leave at anytime." And he started to walk away. "Wait! What do you mean?!" "I can't come with you, mate," the figure said with a shuddering voice, those glowing eyes large with emotion, "This is for you, and you alone. I'll be just around the corner, up there, when you're done."
Steven knew that he was being a coward, but he couldn't bring himself watch it again. Couldn't watch someone break down as he did. He would stand firm no matter how Poe reacted, but he couldn't watch.
---
Poe staggered blindly out of the last door. Emotion clogged up in his chest, his body torn between two reactions that cancelled each other out. Leaving him full to the very rim.
For a moment, Poe just stood there. His reflection had an iregularity, he'd noted after door number ten, a pale crescent shape with his pupils acting as the shadow. Something settled in him upon noticing it.
It just looked right.
As if by themselves, Poe's feet carried him slowly around the corner. There he was, curled up into a ball on the seemingly endless row of chairs only to stand to attention at Poe's approach. "Take off that mask," Poe's voice sound cold and foreign to himself. Steven hesitated but did as he asked. His freed curls flopped over his watery eyes.
Words failed them both. Too much hung in the air, the lights dimmed and flickering. But Poe knew what he wanted to do.
With carefully choreographed movements, Poe reached out and pressed Steven against him. And, when, Steven's arms wrapped around him, broke.
He wept at the unfairness of it all. At Marc's childhood. At Steven and Jake's birth. At the actions of their "mother" and "father" or lack there of. At the way Steven found out. At Jake's loneliness. At how, once they all were finally finding happiness together, it was all ripped away from them. At Poe living because they lost everything. At how, inspite of that, they still loved him. Hid themselves so he could live his life without interuption. Taking only brief snatches of time to live themselves. Them not truly knowing the love his parents likely would have happily given them.
Steven picked him up as he cried. "It's ok love, don't hold back," he muttered as he walked deeper into headspace, "There you go. You've had a long night." He walked until the psych ward faded into a familar yet new room, a mix of Khonshu's temple and Steven's flat, a row of four sarcophagi laying where the bed would have been, Khonshu's statue standing watch.
Steven gently tucked Poe into his relocated "bed". "A little kip will do you the world of good," he lay a soft yet heavy blanket over Poe, "We'll wake you once we're off Jakku." "You promise?" Poe asked quietly. "Yeah, I promise mate," Steven smiled down at him, before giving him a kiss on the forehead.
Poe sighed as he leaned back. His eyes closed as the lid slid into place.

I really thought the end of the Krakoan Era of X-Books would cause a significant downturn in how many Marvel comics I keep up with weekly, but they've just got so many great writers on the payroll right now! Like, I've cut out all the X-Books except X-Men proper (which I'm only reading because of my longtime crush on Magik) after keeping up with everything during Krakoa, so you'd expect I'd be taking my Marvel more slowly, but just look at the lineup:
My man Jonathan Hickman killing it on Ultimate Spider-Man (honestly doing it better than 616 Spidey) plus apparently an upcoming Wolverine mini, and joined by rising star Deniz Camp on Ultimates doing real interesting stuff with Marvel hero archetypes (the recent issue touching on nuclear testing fallout in Polynesia reminding me of his incredible comic 20th Century Men, which is probably better than any Marvel comic mentioned here, go read it right now!) for a real dream team;
The always impressive Al Ewing keeping Venom's energy high following up a massive crossover event (a tall task), while also crafting a landmark run in Immortal Thor just like he did for Immortal Hulk previously;
Jed MacKay with the unenviable job of writing both X-Men AND Avengers after finishing his recent run on Doctor Strange, but despite those heavy hitter titles his standout work has been his several-year-run on Moon Knight (and spinoffs Vengeance of the [MK], Phases of the [MK]) which I think is going to be remembered as one of the character's better runs (despite it having to handle the leftovers of the controversial Age of Khonshu);
Garth Ennis (who can be very hit or very miss for me) back in his element on the Get Fury mini despite the success of The Boys' TV show, a MAX universe Vietnam war story with Nick Fury and Frank Castle, exactly the kind of thing you want Ennis writing (he's even so far avoided his unfortunate habit of transmisogynistic humour);
And certainly not least, Ryan North (of tumblr @ryannorth fame) on Fantastic Four, easily the best work on the title since Hickman's defining run in the lead-up to Secret Wars (2015), calling back to the weird-science-fiction-family-adventure vibes of the original run by Jack Kirby (...and Stan Lee, whatever...), and the only series on this list I actually went out and bought a floppy for instead of reading digitally (issue #7/LGY700, because I love Dr. Doom and North fucking nailed depicting his character, which is a trickier task than people expect), PLUS: the first two years/24 issues of this run has beautiful cover art by industry legend Alex Ross, what more can you need from a comic book!‽?
DC's got some good stuff coming out too (Zdarsky Batman, Spurrier Flash & Hellblazer, Russel/Allred Batman: Dark Age, personal fav JT4's Nice House by the Sea, and I always love Action/Superman), but the Marvel bullpen is just in top fuckin' gear recently.
