Genshin Impact: This is Robespierre, a 17 year old cheerful politician with a passion for reform thus he has a Hydro Vision. His parents were brutally murdered in a separatist uprising. His best friend is a twink in short shorts who he is shipped with. You find out he has a hobby of collecting coins during an event.

Honkai: Star Rail: This is Gabriel, he's a Fire-Destruction civil engineer with a wrench gun. He's literally just some guy until you find out he has ties to the local criminal underworld and is secretly a Masked Fools plant.

Limbus Company: This is Perseus, a Fixer who must kill the Abnormality Stone-Gaze Queen to prevent his mother from marrying a Wing CEO. Or that's what I would say if this wasn't his alternate universe self who worked at dystopian Freddy Fazbear's.

Arknights: This is Foosball. She's a secretary turned mercenary after getting Rock Cancer because she had talent with knives. She went crazy after the war crimes and experiments but she's fine now. Probably...

Nikke: This is Jane, she's a military uniform imouto kuudere who was thrown into a metaphorical and literal meat grinder due to cyborg abuse but has now imprinted on the first person to show her kindness. Also her ass is-

Reading what the anni Servant is is like going down a flight of stairs, but you're missing every step and eating shit all the way down.

So, review time, this is what I mean when i keep talking about how most of the audience doesnt matter to people who make gacha, and casting a wide net etc.

This is always the endpoint of gachas no matter how good or bad they start out. We've seen this with Genshin and how when it finally started to fall off, instead of implementing things most fans wanted they created an entirely new game with those requested features but kept Genshin as is and instead used it to springboard a new gacha.

the sea creature comparisons with gacha players aren't arbitrary, it's about WHY non whales matter in the first place. It's about how fishing works and net sizes.

When mass fishing as, the mesh size is very important, as in the distances between each section of the net. The reason for this is that when mass fishing for a specific market, you dont want your haul to consist of unintended fish who live in the same area that then have to spend that much more time being sorted through and tossed back. Basically it's a way of selectively filtering out the small fry.

You can probably already see where I'm going with this. Gacha does the same thing. it casts a massively wide net that will surround all sorts of players but as that net gets pulled in, all but the biggest catches will slip out of the net because they never mattered in the first place, it was just about maximizing the small concentrated number of big fish. The whales. Fuck everything else, it can be filtered out, it's not efficient to even try to catch them.

And so, these "massive" gacha who "are different, this one's good" end up in the exact same place every time.

Trying to learn more about honkai impact 3rd lore to better understand hsr and damn my experience with fgo really is making things easier. Many worlds theory, imagining worlds as a tree where some are "pruned off" in favor of a better world, etc. Even the imaginary space between worlds in honkai is like the imaginary numbers sea that allows us to travel between lostbelts.

I'm still unsure about how hi3, hsr, and gi all interact with each other. In the imaginary tree terms, are they each their own leaves? Or are they all set in the universe of hsr where travel is possible, meaning hi3 and gi are set on different planets? Or is hsr itself travel between the different branches of the imaginary tree where places like jarilo-VI and penacony are completely separate leaves and not planets/ships? That would mean a lot of worlds on the imaginary tree are aware of each other and are able to connect but thats less interastral and more interdimensional.

I know a lot of confusion is based on inconsistent translations of world, universe, and galaxy/star system so it makes the cosmology harder to grasp.

This is just a stream of consciousness sort of post, im trying to get my thoughts sorted on this esp with acheron coming up and more lore from her myriad trailer that prompted all of this is the first place
