joy is good actually! hope is good actually! even when (ESPECIALLY when) horrible things are happening in the world! because we need hope and joy to give us energy to keep going, and keep working towards a better world!

please try with me to be joyful and hopeful. i know it's hard right now, but it is worth the effort. you taking on the guilt of all the world's ills does absolutely nothing to make them go away. and even if you can't do anything to tangibly improve anyone else's life right now, if you don't have the means or the power or the spoons, the world will be better if you are happy than if you are miserable.

in the words of Ursula Vernon, your misery does not improve the world a single iota. in the words of Mary Oliver, you do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. in the words of Wislawa Szymborska, forgive me, distant wars, for bringing flowers home.

so please, bring flowers home. please, let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. please, stop doomscrolling because anxiety is not activism and if you don't have the spoons for activism right now then you might as well do something that doesn't make you miserable. find something joyful and try to share it with the people around you. hold on to hope. repeat after me: we're gonna get through this.

In your opinion, what do you think Ratio’s family is like back home? If you think he even has any.

I'm not too sure about his family I've never really thought of it.

With how insistent he is on being polite it's clear he was brought up with manners being an important part of his upbringing. I think his parents were very supportive of his interests and such as well.

To me he feels like he would've been a bit of a mama's boy growing up, I also feel like at least one of his parents would have had the same blunt attitude and straightforward demeanor as him.

I think he struggled with socializing when he was really young, his parents were of course there to reassure him and help him learn to cope with things not going according to his mental picture. They'd be empathetic and there to guide him if needed, but they let him figure out how to problem solve and work through things on his own.

His parents definitely adore him fr, he's all they talk about and they tell everyone they meet about his accomplishments, they're oh so proud of him. They've seen and read everything about Veritas or his accomplishments.

He feels like an only child to me but that may be a bit biased.. I do remember seeing this one interpretation of him having a little sister that was also really cute though.

Honestly I've liked every interpretation of his family that I've seen, I think everything I've seen has been sweet and fun.

can’t think of anything to say other than it was everything I could have ever expected and wanted and hoped for. seeing them perform truly is an electric experience and I am so, so grateful I got to be there. I’ve never felt such overflowing joy and love in one room before and that truly is down to what a one-of-a-kind group Starkid is. I’m so happy and a little emotional that it’s over but like it’s sung in days of summer, “don’t wanna see you go but it’s not forever, not forever” ⭐️💜
