#Repost @danny_runsforbeer Day two of @scribbledlinesbrewing Sour Summer Work Week at @lupulin_brewing was an absolute blast!! @daninygard is still blessing my beer pics and I even snagged a selfie with her! In between jobs...or on holiday?

It'd been a few weeks and now I just wanted to work. This would be a good time for one of those covers, just a little exposure. Kendra Knight had helped me cross the pond, so to speak, and I was trying to make a full arrival.

I looked at my covers over the years that bared her name and my likeness. Kendra was the only one I did covers for because she sent me a copy of the manuscript first. Laura said that she saw my picture in her office from her trip abroad and that was it. She said if it wasn't a part I'd want to play one day, she'd understand if I turned it down. But the stories were good, the sex scenes were hot. I had everything she'd written, even the ones I didn't model for. She often asked me about male perspective in emails, something many female authors didn't tackle. I'd never seen so much care or interest, and I admired that. She gave me a renewed respect for and interest in writing.

Kendra finally let me text her, giving me a phone number I could get to her through. But every time I called, she'd let it go to voice mail and she texted back. It was like she didn't want me to hear her voice. So, I offered my name: Shane Zachary Sheridan. I used my middle name as my first in media, but those I really knew me called me by my first.

Truthfully, that was the thing about Kendra Knight. It was fair to say that no one really knew what she looked like. Laura was her front person, and she was so charming and enigmatic it was enough to distract most, but her hard core fans had begun to demand that Kendra show herself. There was even rumor she was a man, but then she called that satellite radio station and stated, "No, I'm female, just not media friendly." And hung up. I actually had that little snippet sent to me, hoping to match her voice to someone someday. The more mysterious she was, the more buzz around her...and her quiet got attention for me since I'd been on a few of her covers. I was a consistent link, a sign of her, somehow, even though I'd never laid eyes on her.

Had I laid eyes on her and not known it? Her interest seemed more than just a photograph. She texted back every time I contacted her, and she always sent some acknowledgement of my birthday and Christmas. Sometimes we texted every day and fall off for awhile only to pick up again. Then there were the thank you cards and presents that I got when one of my covers was released. I still have the cards. Did she write them herself? I went to my desk and started going through my files.

Suddenly, my cell jolted me from memory lane. I glanced the caller ID and clicked on.

"Hey, Rick."

"Big news, mate, big news," Rick said as if he was going to burst. "Bad, good and then...just damned good!"

I couldn't help but chuckle at my agent. I sat in my chair, put up my feet, and sighed, "Let's have it, bad first, of course."

"You didn't get the part you read for last week," he said.

I rolled my eyes. "And?"

"Kendra Knight!"

"You've got my interest, Rick." Kendra Knight was always presenting me with opportunities, bless her.

"Right, right," Rick said. "Kendra Knight is in negotiations with AV-1!"

"AV-1? That's brilliant!" I repeated, sitting up. This was news. This was one of the fastest growing movie apps in the past few years. "What negotiations?"

"For her books, Shane!" Rick said. "Word is there are negotiations for you to get leads!"

"Negotiating for me?!"

"Yes!" Rick sounded like he'd burst. "She is pushing hard for you because of your...relationship?"

"Relationship?" I repeated. "Are you having a laugh?"

"Seems Kendra Knight herself is pushing for this," Rick said. "What did you do? What did you say? Blimey, you said you never met, Shane!"

"As far as I know, I haven't!" I told him, thinking hard. "as far as I know. Believe me, if I met her, I'd--"

"What?"

"Have you read her stuff?" I asked. "She tells it like a fly on the wall, or like--like putting you behind a pair of eyes--great stuff for an actor--"

"And you've never met her?" Rick accused again. "Sounds like you know her."

"I do..." I pulled the file and threw it on my desk. I opened the folder and looked at the cards. "And I don't." I closed my eyes, trying to think here. Did I have all our texts? "Dig up all you can on Kendra Knight, Rick," I told him. All that research I did playing a spy was about to come of use. Everyone was trying to figure out who Kendra Knight was. I knew that, I just needed to get her in my sights so I could catch her. "Time to cross the pond again."

"Are you sure this is what you want to do?"

"I just think it's time, is all."

"You are doing well here in Britain, Shane--"

"But I want to do better," I told him. "Time to spread wings a little."

"I know you, Shane," Rick said warningly. "You've got a plan."

"My plans are always good ones, Rick, trust me." I clicked off before he said another word and sent a text to Kendra.

SSWW: Kendra, there's a lot of buzz going on around here. How about we clear the air and meet? Call me anytime. Cheers

Details were going to be key. I knew this woman. We texted so I knew a few things, I had handwriting samples on cards. She also told me in texts to call her Kit, and not Kendra. But once, once she said that she and Lara were inseparable in college. They were Kikilala...Kiki...now why did that suddenly ring a bell?
