About the balcony scene and why my heart bleeds every time I watch it

I rewatched the balcony scene thousand of times, at this point. And the thing that moved me the first time, that still makes my heart bleeding, is seeing Benvolio completely broken and helpless. The episode tells the story of one day and yet is enough to destroy him. Until this episode we always saw him doing his best to cope with too many sad aspects of his life: his uncle's hate, the loss of his friends and, after this, the weight of Romeo's legacy. But in one day everything falls apart: he's framed, betrayed, abandoned more than ever. He goes to Rosaline with his heart on his sleeve, this heart reduced in tiny pieces at the end of the day. He doesn't go to her because 'hey, I asked everyone else to help me and the only one left is Capulet' but because he realises who's real in his life: with all those people who he had trusted and then betrayed him, he sees that she's different and won't turn her back on him. She sees the real Benvolio, now, and he's not afraid of that anymore. The balcony scene moves me because he puts himself in her hands: to solve the mistery and clear his name, but also, I'm sure, to make his heart whole again. To put his life back together. Things won't be easy for him from now on and we'll see him sassy and going "Capulet" again, but this time will be different. The balcony scene showed us what's beneath the smirk, the jokes. And Rosaline saw that too.

Aside from the amazing great pilot, this episode had great tropes, great character development, great ship moments, great faces and had the least annoying B-plot.

Can we just talk that everytime Ben mentiones that his uncle hates him, that he has no one by his side and now also when he said to Rosaline "I know you don't like me" he does that fake little laugh, like he doesn't want to show how badly the fact that no one loves him hurts him? CAN. WE. TALK. ABOUT. THIS

BENVOLIO CRYING IS A LOW BLOW. IT’S CRUEL AND I’M IN A GLASS CAGE OF EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW.

This man's heart kept breaking and breaking during the whole episode and you can actually hear it. Especially when Stella betrays him. MY POOR BABY. And Wade did such a TERRIFIC job in this episode, I wanted to hug him so bad.

honestly if they don’t take advantage of the opportunity of adventure/exile shenanigans and don’t cross dress rosaline as a man, they don’t deserve all the shakespeare tropes that are available to them. (their names are ROSALINE/Rosalind and LIVIA/Celia, for god’s sakes.)

also you would think rosaline would seek out isabella re: benny’s murder charge and not fuckboy escalus? but whatever, i just want more ladies loving ladies. honestly, the friendship/mentorship between isabella and thrice widowed lady montague is straight up suspicious because you can’t tell me isabella was cozy with both a montague AND the capulet house at the same time. 

i’m nitpicking, and i shouldn’t, because this is a ridiculous show and i enjoy that it’s ridiculous (which is why woobie benny doesn’t do it for me, i need him at human disaster level 500 at all times)

(ps. sorry paris/livia shippers, we’ve all been there. lesson 1: don’t bank on ships that aren’t clearly endgame and aren’t canon esp only 3 eps in)
