how far does Billy and Talaney's relationship go in the show??

OK this might be a bit longer ramble I hope you don't mind!

To be honest, with how I'm planning things out Canon/story-wise, in the actual events of the series, Billy and Talaney aren't a couple. At least not on screen.

They're relationship is kinda on and off/nothing really official until the end of season two, but something happens between then and season three because by the time s3 starts, Talaney and Billy are broken up. [mentioned often by Steve firstly, and the kids.]

A little [literal] slip at Hawkins pool ends up reuniting them for a bit, and Billy asks her out again for a 'second chance'... Which is a complete lie because that same day, he offers the hookup to Mrs Wheeler.

Talaney doesn't know this, and for personal reasons, Billy wanting to try their relationship again is what she's been looking for. She agrees. She's desperate.

Until she sees him with Heather. And is told that she and him have been skipping/missing shifts at the pool, which we all know is because they are victims to the Mind Flayer, but to Talaney-Anne, it makes her realize that she was played again. And maybe in a panic she runs to Steve- which does give us some good angsty to fluffy comfort.

I really want to have earlier parts of s3 be Talaney and Steve relationship-focused... At least until Talaney is told about what's happening to Billy. I have stated before that Talaney truly does care about Steve, but she tries so hard to fight those feelings even if Steve is very openly feeling the same way, which does cause a little turmoil and pushing away. She can't help but feel that there's still something there for Nancy, and for her, it's Billy.

[And also maybe the fact she's told Steve that she's currently pregnant with Billy's baby in s3 but SHSHSHSHS]

But of course there isn't any time for forgiveness and healing, because by the time it's made clear to us that Billy did care about Talaney, he's dead. And she never gets that reasurrance or solace.
