It's important to preempt I see 'Dreams' and 'Wishes' as connected concepts in the Kirby universe-- not the exact same thing BUT in some cases they interchangable. I also base basically all of my headcanons off of this quote from the instruction booklet of KATAM: "High in the skies above Dream Land floats the Mirror World. In this strange and beautiful land, mirrors have the power to make any wishes reflected in them come true. One day, a sinister presence invaded the Mirror World, and its mirrors could only reflect bad things. When Meta Knight discovered what was happening, he set off to save the Mirror World."

I HC that BEFORE KATAM the Mirror World was a more 'ideal' version of Popstar, built on people's collective dreams. For example if a lot of people even internally wished something was different, it would be in the mirror world. For example a lot of people wished Kirby was more mindful and didn't rush into things, so Shadow Kirby became... Mindful and patient. Dedede wished Meta Knight was a bit less selfish and more loyal (due to his own worries) and so Dark Meta Knight began to value loyalty and indulge in self-sacrificial ideals.

However since Dark Mind is most likely (to me) a reflection of Nightmare, a being who causes Nightmares, Dark Mind can inherently mess with the Dimension Mirror because it sees Dreams and reflects them. So he chose to reflect those desires of others in a way which was self serving, to take control the Mirror World. Walking back to my two prior examples: Dark Mind made Shadow Kirby hesitant to act (as well as disoriented him) so that he would not intervene. And similarly Dark Mind bumped up DMK's loyalty significantly more, but turned Dark Meta Knight's loyalties towards himself.

After KATAM though, the Mirror was irreparably damaged and could no longer reflect things. Meaning that for the most part the Dimension Mirror is not reflecting new people who did not exist outside of Popstar originally (save for a few characters depending on my mood, really, I keep it flexible), nor is it attempting to recreate any of the games. As well as this out of self-preservation it's stopped reflecting anything OFF of Popstar really (this is entirely because I'm not interested in making a Mirror Ribbon tbh). Making it so the Mirror World in reality is very very small, confusing, and it sort of loops if you attempt to go too far 'out of bounds'.

Of course for me I see the Mirror Worlders as very similar to their counterparts in some ways, but their flipped traits aren't entirely bad things. For example Dark Meta Knight values self-sacrifice very highly, and has decided to instead remain to keeping the Mirror itself from malfunctioning in the future, fearing of messing things up further. And Shadow Kirby pursues very intellectual hobbies and activities, and has become very intelligent, which Kirby doesn't have the patience for or interest in. (Not that Kirby isn't) Although of course some of their flipped or more extreme traits are bad. Shadow Kirby is a loner and is incapable of teamwork even if he tried to do so (in KF2, the game about fighting with a friend, he flies solo always), and struggles with forming bonds with others. Meta Knight's desire to best Kirby (to be the strongest) has melded with hatred and has formed a need in DMK's heart to utterly destroy Kirby, if not in combat then in another way, for killing him that one time. Dark Meta Knight also loathes Kirby (and some others, who are seen as heroes) because they have never intentionally sacrificed anything, and are entirely self-serving, and therefore cannot be real heroes. Or at least as not as real as him.

So yeaahh there's like a crumb of my mirror world headcanons. Sorry this was long. I hope you have fun creating your own Mirror World HCs. I saw from your other post you already brought up a question I'd love for honestly everyone to think about when it comes to mirror world stuff, so I'm excited to see how you interpret these characters :)!

Okay so basically bmc stands for be more chill and it's a musical (adapted from a book, but they have very different plots) that's basically sci-fi and coming-of-age!!! The songs are all VERY catchy and the musical's been around since 2015 so there's a lot of fan content out there for it ^^ (and the book's been out since 2004 I believe?)

So the plot follows our main character Jeremy Heere who's an (autistic coded) social-outcast who's only friend is his childhood best friend Michael Mell =D (I'm gonna try to give a brief summary here =^=) A very famous scene that happens in the first song is when one of Jeremy's bullies writes something on his backpack, which we find out was "boyf." And later, which Jeremy and Michael are talking, the two of them put their backpacks together and read that it says "boyf riends." (Also, in the broadway revival, they added a line where Michael says "my mother's would be thrilled!!" Confirming a popular headcanon back in the older fandom to be canon. Anyways, in the opening number, Jeremy is seen getting shoved around, called gross, and, on a more positive note, is convinced (by Michael) to join the school play. Jeremy wanted to sign up for the play initially because he has a crush on this theater kid named Christine Canigula, but is too nervous to ask her out (so he would have to if he was working with her, and he wouldn't be seen as a creep. Christine sings a song abt how much she loves play rehearsal (she also canonically has ADHD >u<) and bu the end of the song all of the popular kids (who were previously seen bullying Jeremy) are revealed to have also joined the play. Jake, a popular kid, talks to Christine and blah blah blah Christine then shows an interest in Jake. Jeremy then goes into the bathroom to wash off the writing on his backpack, but gets caught by the guy who wrote it: Rich Goranski. They talk for a bit, then Rich starts having (what seems to be) a seizure, before quickly calling out to Jeremy to stay. Then he explains how he became popular so quickly in the span of a year. He took this pill called a super-quantum unit intel processor, SQUIP for short. Basically, a SQUIP is a super computer that goes into your brain and "tells you what to do." In Rich's case, it made him cool. Rich tells Jeremy that he can hook him up with one, for 600 dollars. Jeremy is immediately interested, because, as previously established, Jeremy hates being a loser. He then talks to Michael abt it when he gets home. Michael is convinced that it's a scam, but Jeremy insists that they should at least go check it out. So, they go to the mall and end up buying one SQUIP. Jeremy takes it, and nothing happens immediately. But, after a little while, Jeremy starts having that seizure-like reaction that Rich had in the bathroom...in the middle of the mall. IN FRONT OF CHRISTINE. Then, the squip activates and immediately starts telling Jeremy what to do. Blah blah blah stuff happens the musical almost ends in an apocalypse it's really cool actually ^^ (also srry for how long this is ;-; I really like giving this spiel)

And then the book has a sort-of-similar idea, except the endings and actual events are VERY different. But!!!!! I personally really like the book, and think it's definitely a good read.

K so bmc has a few different productions out there (including a LOT of high-school productions available on YouTube [and a bunch of other bootlegs also available on youtube])

Currently, there is only a 30 minute long visual bootleg for the original two river theater regional production, but there is a full length audio bootleg (and I know that one of these [I can't remember which] is currently unlisted, so if you happen to want to watch/listen to this musical AND want to enjoy the original production, then just dm me and I can send u the link ^^)

There are also a few off-broadway bootlegs (with mostly the original cast), but there are DEFINITELY the most broadway bootlegs (and, I can't also send u the link to the [in my opinion] best one)

And then little warning there are some explicit themes and a character get sexually assaulted in one scene so don't watch it if either of those are triggering for u ^^

Aaaaaaaand then the book has a LOT of explicit material in it. I Definitely don't recommend it if ur sensitive to that stuff.

im gonna admit something that i've been thinking about for a while. trying to get a feel for how Pest might've felt or how he interacted with me is really kind of hard. From what I see people characterize him like in a joking manner (which I find funny I think everyone shouldn't take regretevator so seriously on certain occasions as it is a very silly game to begin with) or they characterize him in a Partybeetle sense. Which me and my Pest were not a couple (WHICH NO HATE AT ALL I THINK IT'S SILLY even though i vibe with platonic partybeetle more because im BIIIIAAASED /silly).

We were besties. we teased each other in a vaguely mean sense because we thought it was funny and we communicated with each other if it went to far or if we needed something etc etc Generally healthy relationship. And you'd think that would be like, easy to gauge from that or something. But it's... not? It feels a very surface level of knowledge of how we were as a pair when my heart tells me there's a deeper level of understanding between us that I'm barely digging into (which side note is funny considering I didn't know his legal name was 1314 until DrRETRO came in and jst started calling him that. but aside from this .)

Like, what did he really think of me? Was he willing to go just a little out of his way to do stuff for me, or is it me just hoping and being biased in a headcanon that I can't differentiate between my canon and not canon?? I can't even ask my friend who is Pest (although not mine) because they were different in thought process from each other. It's times like these where I wish I could remember, or find my Pest and bounce off each other sharing memories that I'm not sure about, or talk about what the other was thinking in the moment, or something.

But i was just trying to say that i thought that it was funny how some people that ship bkdk with other characters have been trying to make us look bad by saying bkdk is ""sibling coded"" and now are trying to do the same with another ship that vaguely parallels bkdk, and the response was to make silly jokes abt siblings/friends.

Not that either can't be or is it bad to headcanon as siblings/friends, it's that this kind of argument was used against us pretty heavily and i think we should be allowed to be a little petty by joking back in our own posts.

the only problem is when two ppl i know meet and they both have a different perception of me bcs around them i acted very masc / fem presenting so one will be talking abt smth and refer to me w a set of prns and the other person will be like " no [ ] use/s [] / [] prns and then they will actually start fighting abt my assigned gender at birth it's actually very funny like they will then be confused and i will normally have to randomly joke or make smth up for them to forget the situation . only downside i have had to move schools and classes multiple times bcs i got outed that way .

I usually think that Hero is still quite depressed even after everything (especially after good ending) but instead just bottles it up or puts up a facade!! I like your blog a lot since I share a lot of opinions and other Hero related things with you! (Except I put him with Bowen after good ending but ehhh)

Of course, I'm pretty sure Hero is a bad liar, so he's still noticeably closed off and more reserved, but he tries his best to at focusing on the group and keeping himself out of the spotlight!!

Thank you also for the Hero discussion! Please don't ever feel like you have to apologize for ranting to us about Hero. We love to talk about him! (Thus the blog 😅😂).

It's always nice to hear that people like our blog and our portrayals and interpretations of Hero as characters, but it's also refreshing to know that people don't always agree with us on everything. Truthfully, even us mods disagree amongst ourselves on certain headcanons and interpretations of the characters sometimes (even Hero😅). One of the best parts of being in a fandom is getting to experience these different interpretations of the same characters that we all know and love, and so we always try to be very respectful of that. [Like we stated on pinned welcome post, not having Hero x Canon Character pairings here besides HeroMari and Hero x Brandi is really just a personal boundary for us related to character age since Hero is canonically a legal adult (This is especially important to us since, as we have also always stated in our welcome post, both of us mods are legal adults ourselves). We know that Mari and Brandi are both canonically Hero's age so we feel personally comfortable with those pairings, but when a character has an ambiguous age, we just personally don't feel comfortable entertaining any ships between them and Hero because he is canonically an adult and we don't know for sure how old that other character is. We have a lot of respect for people's right to ship what they want, and we know a lot of those NPCs could in fact be Hero's age but since we don't know for sure, we just don't feel comfortable with that. And as this is our blog, we do limit the ships here to fit our personal boundaries so we thank you for respecting that as well].

Anyways, onto your discussion points, we really agree with what you've said here about Hero struggling to express his feelings and bottling them up because he doesn't want to be in the spotlight or to be a burden on anyone. Hero has gone through a lot in his life, and it has left him with deep-seated internal pain that he can never really bring himself to express even to the people who love him. I (Acacia) was recently telling a friend of mine that Hero is like one of those fireproof lockboxes—you have to pry him open to get anything deep or vulnerable and especially to get his 100% honest opinion. He is always genuine and is far too sincere to be able to outright lie, but he will sugarcoat like no other and skirt around what he really feels and thinks because he doesn’t want to upset and burden anyone.

He also prefers to fade into the background and just quietly listen while other characters’ talk, so it’s kind of easy to forget he’s there sometimes (especially if it's in a story that isn't in his POV or otherwise isn't about him). That's something that makes writing Hero so emotionally exhausting because you really have to zoom in so close & so introspective on his feelings to really get a clear picture of what is actually going on in him. There's probably at least 3 degrees of separation from what he wants to say and what he actually says, so you really have to read between the lines with him & can't take anything that he says at face value.

Which isn't to say he is disingenuous or dishonest, he just hides his true feelings in favor of keeping the peace & trying not to hurt anyone. We absolutely agree with your point that Hero is a bad liar (probably because he's just so genuinely sincere), but he is better at burying his emotions than most people. While he isn't very deceptive (at least not in the traditional sense), he's so calm, docile, & unassuming that he doesn't show a lot of emotions as visibly obviously as someone who wears their heart on their sleeve (like Kel for instance) so it's easier for a lot of people to just take Hero's reassurances that "I'm fine" at face value. It's an interesting dichotomy because on the one hand Hero is in a lot of pain and being able to share that and to be seen in that would be really good for him and his healing (and I think he knows that), but he purposely sabotages himself because on the other hand he doesn't want to be seen. Ingo was a total workaholic back in Unova and, honestly, still is. (Though the reasons behind this have shifted as he was thrown back into the past.) Because of that, he doesn’t have much experience in the way of relationships, even less when it comes to sex. Long story short: Ingo is either a virgin, or his lack of practice combined with memory loss might as well make him one. He jacks off a lot more often than you might expect, though. He’s often so tired and tense, it’s an easy way to get his mind off of things.
