SRAM, I beg your fucking pardon?

Just catching up on SRAM because I've been busy, but, uh, yeah, I should be paying a lot more attention to this!

I mean, I really like what I've seen so far. They're sticking to the original beats, but they've updated it nicely, and they're making small changes that I like, that are meaningful, and that make this version of it theirs.

The cinematography is top notch, it's a very pretty remake. Also their P-Chris. But they're making great shots, and I really like how they occasionally veer into the surreal like Skam NL did.

It feels like I've written this a million times, but in the original season one, there are three scenes where both the acting and the writing is on an insane level. It's Jonas and Eva in the skatepark, after Jonas found out Eva kissed P-Chris. It's Eva and Ingrid in the bathroom, after Eva gets the threat letter. And it's Eva and Isak in the kitchen at the Christmas party.

I am anxiously curiously hopeful awaiting Sram's take on those scenes. Please knock them out of the park.

Lovro and Eva looking at each other wishing for what the other has…

Jakov and Eva always faced away. Their bodies melting into each other and the constant affection. The camera focused on them and Lovro being the afterthought, the outsider, the third wheel. But he has feelings for Jakov. That desire for romance that feels so close yet so far.

Jakov and Lovro are always off with each other. One person following the other. Lovro walks off the path and Jakov goes to follow. Lovro jumps into the waters; Jakov does the same. They play video games together and go to music events. The trailer showed us that Eva and Sara used to do that. They played music together; they swam. But now that’s gone. And Eva is just reminded of that emptiness every time she sees the boys.

little details I liked from the new clip:

1. Eva and Sara unintentionally matching with star earrings - they WERE best friends, it makes complete sense. Evas being bigger and neon (i want them so badly btw) also makes sense in her arc - trying to prove herself to her new friend group and jakov simultaneously. She’s putting more pressure on herself, while Sara, who has the upper hand in this scene chooses to accesorise with something still unique but more subtle

2. Nora’s outfit ATE but WHY didn’t she follow eva after she ran off?? clearly upset? I know she couldn’t in order to set up the plot but she followed her literally moments before. Tbf thinking about it now maybe she wanted to give her space but given the context and a clearly overwhelming environment like it seemed a bit a strange.

3. Nix BEFORE he kissed eva. Trying to comfort her by being silly, asking if she wanted water or a friend and if he could stay - atleast he didn’t immediately jump at the chance to take advantage of the situation like some of his past namesakes. Made me like him a bit more before I met ines, of course.

4. I’ve been a bit confused about the characters supposedly being in their second year of high school, but being born in 2008 (as that would make them 16-17 instead of 15-16). I’d put it down to either the Croatian school system being different or the characters simply being aged up but Ines is in 3rd grade and not a senior, so it appears to follow the normal system?? If anyone is Croatian and could clear this up would very much appreciate it 😭😭

I mean I've always loved the realness of Eva's character in all the remakes, but this version just seems a little extra raw and special
