THE ART OF SHARING A COWBOY HAT
Tumblr media
⇢ arthur morgan x gn!reader + leon kennedy (rdr2 au) x gn!reader
cw: fluff, lighthearted smut, drinking + implications of throwing up, confessions, mentions of children but it’s still gn friendly, prone to typos
note: um i originally wrote this with only arthur in mind but lowkey think it could apply to leon as well, i thought this was a super cute idea !! these are just rambles and written for fun, so excuse any typos eee (⩾﹏⩽)
Tumblr media
i. A GENTLEMANLY ACT
you’ve lost count of how many hats you’ve lost over the years — it wasn’t your fault! just a small bicker with a tiny group of o’driscolls usually resulted in your hat being knocked off while you rode your horse and shot at them.
was buying a new one even worth it? with dutch on everyone’s ass about contributing money, not really. as if the bastard actually helped out.
plus…you’d grown to rely on a certain man who always shared his hat with you as if it were co-owned.
amidst a camp out in the open with the sun pouring in through the leaves of the tall trees that surrounded, your eyes were often squinting. everytime you sat in the shade, it moved over within a couple minutes and left you back in the sun. how frustrating.
“you’ll burn to the crisp by letting the sun beam on ya like that.”
before you could look up to face the familiar voice, the bottom of a hat blocked your view and was placed on you. okay, that felt real nice.
or maybe that one time you stumbled out of the saloon, clutching your stomach with your cheeks all puffed, awaiting the harsh liquor that was begging to be thrown out of your system.
it was night time, the dusty dirt paths were still lively with people walking past. but you needed fresh air, so it would have to do.
being the secret softie that he was, he followed you when he noticed that you had practically limped your way out. geez, he’d been in your position too many times — throwing his guts up with his mind swirling.
“lightweight.” he teased, laughing a bit, placing a hand on your back and rubbing it to comfort you.
“oh gimme a break.” you slurred back, already hunched over. “and stay away…’m bout to burst.”
you weren’t kidding.
he placed his hat on you, keeping your face hidden from any passerby’s. because what kind of man would he be if he just let everyone see your pained face? a foolish one, that’s what.
everyone knew he was sweet on you, it was painfully obvious.
ii. SILENT CONFESSION
the air felt still as the two of you stood beside each other, each leaning against the balcony of a hotel. you guys were close, a little too much to be considered just friends.
his elbow was touching yours, and his gaze didn’t stray from you even once. you captivated his entire attention, more so than the clear stars glimmering in the moonlit sky hanging above.
he couldn’t hide his feelings for you, he couldn’t afford to with how unpredictable life was. he didn’t think much of himself, but he’d be damned if he let some other fella swoop in and woo you.
you didn’t need to be helped. there was no sun in your eyes, or rain pouring onto your face, nor was there any need to hide your face.
his eyes strayed to your lips once before looking back into your eyes, trying to read you. the fondness you held gave him some courage.
he took his hat off, his tousled hair now on display, maybe you could run your fingers through it later.
no words were spoken.
he placed his hat on your head, hoping that would convey his message: he wanted to be yours, and for you to be his.
iii. EASING ALL DISTRESSES
having a lover who’s constantly away isn’t for the weak. it has you feeling like a character out of a book who’s described as melancholic, solemnly gazing out into the distance, awaiting the person who sets your soul ablaze and gives you that fuzzy feeling in your stomach.
him.
but he always spends time with you before he leaves, duh.
after he preps his horse for another long journey away, he makes his way over to your worried form. whether you act nonchalant or downright show how concerned you are, it doesn’t matter, he treats you the same, not wanting you to sulk.
“c’mon love, don’t give me that look. i always come back relatively unscathed, don’t i? you’ve got nothing to worry yer pretty little head about.”
you purse your lips. yeah, he was strong and mighty, but you couldn’t get rid of all the thoughts in your head. “yeah, but being worried ain’t a crime.”
with an amused smile, he takes the adornment perched on his head off and puts it atop your own, adjusting it so it fits more properly. “there ya go.”
he always thought you looked awfully beautiful wearing something of his, his hat had always been dear to him, having scratches and flaws here and there from the encounters he faced. it looked perfect on you, and it felt accomplishing, like if the hat itself was some sort of wedding ring.
he cups the side of your face, using his pinky to lift your jaw while his thumb caresses your cheek. “hold onto this for me, okay? keep it on yer head all the time.”
the act alone had you smiling, returning the adoring gaze he looked at you with. he leaned in closer, pressing his lips against yours for a sweet and temporary goodbye.
iv. TANGLED UNDER THE SHEETS
the chilliness of the harsh winter weather seeped through the wood of the cabin. there were plans to get moving somewhere warmer, but it would be a rough journey. maybe you should be resting instead, but you weren’t.
labored breaths and grunts emanated from the room, accompanied by occasional fits of laughter and whispered words. the two of you were going at it like rabbits on your cot, making the room heat up — no chance you were shivering even with the way it was pouring outside.
his hips were snuggled between yours, his cock slowly pumping into you inch by inch. he was going slowly, trying to make the most of the time you guys had here at this cabin.
“i’m getting a cramp, hold on.” you whine the complaint out, needing to get in a different position.
he laughed, peeling himself off you and laying on his back, his chest heaving heavily.
“what are ya laughing at? you try having your legs up in the air for that long.” you huff as you moved over to straddle him.
“i think i’ll pass on that.”
he always thought you looked amazing on top of him, his eyes sparkling with utmost devotion. naked, vulnerable, so willing to show him every part of you. he loved it.
“ya gonna ride me? i think you’re missing something.” without missing a beat, he reached up for his hat, taking it off and sitting up to place it on you. his free hand snaked down to your ass, giving it a couple pats. “that’s better, now you’re ready.”
you grinned, pressing your hands against his chest to push him back down towards the surface of the cot.
he held onto the back of one of your hands, his other one reaching to hold his cock, letting you sink down onto him. he couldn’t take his eyes off your face though, watching as it contorted into one of pure ecstasy.
v. FAMILY HEIRLOOM
he’s a romantic at heart, he liked the idea of having a hat just for the two of you. he has plenty of others though, that can be passed onto any children you two have or take in as a part of your family — ones they could grow into.
that longing came into fruition. his arm was wrapped around your waist, pulling you close. your eyes were trained on your two children, just a couple years apart, running around aimlessly because the hats their pops put on them were so big it covered their eyes.
“careful…” you mumbled under your breath, not wanting them to fall on any branches or injure themselves. not like they heard you, obviously, but your lover did.
“they’re tough as nails already, jus’ like us..” he reassured you, but it was met by a skeptical glance from you, rightfully so.
“i know, i know…they’re so tiny though, i don’t wanna see even a small scrape on them.”
“worrywart.”

batfamily fic recs which are told from an outsider’s perspective
the city carries ruins in its heart by nex_et_nox
“Do you trust him?” Jim asked.
“Yes,” said Batman, unhesitating.
He didn’t know if he would ever like Red Hood. He didn’t know if he would ever be able to like working with him. He wanted to arrest the man. But if Batman trusted him, that would have to be enough for Jim.
Jim Gordon's evolving perspective on Red Hood.

playacting by nex_et_nox
“So,” Jim said, “are you one of Wayne’s new kids?” Because only siblings acted that way toward each other, and it seemed like every time Gotham turned around, Bruce Wayne was adopting more kids. It was a reasonable question.
“What?” Jay asked. “No, I’m—” He paused. Very slowly, his head tilted as he looked over Jim’s shoulder in the most obvious way he possibly could.
Jim Gordon accidentally meets the "newest" member of the Wayne family.

Finding a New Perspective by njw
“I got this, Hood.” Red Robin sounds annoyed as he arcs and twists through the air, kicking one henchman into another and wrenching the gun away from a third while simultaneously retracting his grappling line and then launching it to catch another unwary henchman. Just, how?
“I can see you do,” Red Hood says, and wait. Was his voice always that deep? Is he… Maya squints. Is he staring at Red Robin’s ass?
She blinks, then studies the line of sight more closely. Maybe he’s just checking out Red Robin’s kneecaps, in preparation for shooting at them? That seems more his style. Sexual attraction is kind of confusing and she still doesn’t totally believe Tosh that it’s actually as big a thing as people make it out to be—seriously, do other people really spend that much time thinking about it? Sounds fake but okay.
But no, Red Hood’s helmet is totally pointed at Red Robin’s ass. Huh. That’s new.

Why the hell was this happening? Why the hell did you even agree to do this?
Just a few minutes before the cocktail party hosted by Roper. The first time you and Thomas would be seen as a couple in public. That is, a pretend couple. You have taken at least twelve anxiety trips to the restroom in the last two hours. You still felt like any minute you would shit yourself. You kept redoing bits of your makeup because your hand kept shaking. If there was a wrong step, a wrong move, you wondered if something would explode. If someone would either laugh at you or Roper would frown. Then again, this was The Worst Man In The World we were talking about. A frown would be the least of your worries if he wasn’t happy. And Thomas, what was going through his head? It was too long since you dated-really dated. And your heart was racing out of your chest.
You took another look in the mirror to make sure your cocktail dress was right. What would he even think? You wondered. He was probably repulsed by you- he was forced into this too! Now that Elena was your roommate, she was applying mascara next to you. But you could only stare blankly at your reflection. Overthinking and psyching yourself out as you scanned your appearance again.
“Hey Y/N, what's up?” she asked.
“I’m…I’m just…uh…nervous,” you replied. Nothing fake about that statement.
“Nervous? How come?” She began.
She looked around and then whispered. “Are you…are you in danger….did…”
“No, Roper didn’t threaten anything!“It’s just uh…I hope…I hope tonight just…goes okay,”
“Alright. Whatever you say. It’s just a cocktail party. Another party full of boring guests doing boring fancy things.”
“Well, Elena…today, uh, I gotta tell you something- uh-”
Then there it was. The fateful knock against the door. You jumped and let out a small shout of surprise. Elena looked at you with wide, scared eyes. You saw her hand shake with the mascara tube. But you held her other hand.
Then a soft, British voice was behind. You felt the teenage girl relax. You, however, did not.
“Y/N, I’m here. Ready when you are.”
Taking in a breath, you went to the door and opened up. Though you were delighted to see Thomas. The black eye and nose healed nicely. The bruises didn’t seem too obvious with his tanned skin. The sight of him was dazzling- a crisp blue suit that brought out how his eyes were like the spring sky. He looked down and smiled at you. You couldn’t speak at the sight of him. Excitement mixed with nervousness.
“Are you ready, Y/N?” he asked with a warm smile.
You looked back and saw that Elena tilted her head and squinted at him.
“Are you escorting us?” asked.
“Y/N is my date, but I’ll be glad to walk you over too,” he replied with a shrug.
You might have grown feathers and laid eggs before Elena's eyes. Her jaw fell to the floor. Then she looked at the two of you.
“Your date?!” she cried.
“Yeah….Thomas and I are dating!” you announced matter-of-factly. At least, you hoped it sounded matter-of-fact.
You put on a smile that you hoped wasn't too false looking- small and happy. You leaned in a little closer to him.
"Why....uh....congrats!" Elena replied.
"Yes...I wanted to tell you Elena, but..." you began
You felt your hands twitch and you hoped she wouldn’t notice. Then Thomas stepped forward.
"No, it's alright....come join us, Elena. You’re always welcome with us.”
As Elena walked out beside you two. Both of your clicking heels echoed in the hallway. Her dark hair contrasted with the white of her dress. As she got closer, you could hear the guests chatting. Her mother stepped up and opened an arm. She went up and got her mother’s hand and then walked to the party.
You walked beside Thomas, only giving the odd glance at him. You felt your heart pick up as you got closer. You felt fluttery inside. When Elena and her mother vanished into the party, Thomas leaned in towards you.
“Nervous?” he asked.
“Is water wet?” you replied dryly.
"Take my hand," he instructed.
He splayed out his hand before you- large and smooth. You reached yours, then hesitated before touching him.
“Your hand?" you repeated.
"Take my hand, Y/N. It will make it more believable,” he said.
With a deep breath, you took his hand. It still felt warm, warm from the sun that shone on his skin. His own large hand was soft on you again. With his free hand, he touched your chin, his thumb going to the corners of your mouth. It felt as intimate as a kiss on your thigh. You felt yourself take a breath so deep, you got a little dizzy. Then you went up to him. Suddenly, though there was a whole party of people, it felt like you two were the only ones on earth. Though you had more presentation of calm, his voice was doing nothing for your racing heart.
“Now…we have to smile. Just relax. It’ll be easier than you think,” he advised.
You unclenched your jaw at him. Under the graze of his thumb, you felt the corners of your lips twitch up.
“There…there it is,” he said, with a smile that matched yours.
Then use that…like method acting. Y/N you thought.
So then you both walked on and entered holding hands. It was another large group with cocktails in wide glasses and thin stems. Full of light laughter like wind chimes on a summer day. It was thick with every cologne and perfume you could name. There were bright flowers and green, leafy plants everywhere. Waiters in suits walked around serving drinks and hors devours. You felt Thomas squeeze your hand and you walked with a smile.
Just stay by him and hold his hand and smile. It had been too long- why didn't you notice what it was couples did? Your sister draped her arm around Roper's all the time. Caro would give kisses on Sandy's cheek and then his lips.
Yet when you entered, eyes went forward in greedy curiosity. You were recognized. And so was the new man-Danny’s savior. You saw their acknowledgment. The big eyes. The frozen smiles. Some noticed you and then immediately turned to their circle. Then those people turned heads. You couldn't hear a word but you knew they were talking about you.
But best of all were the men’s reactions. When your gross potential suitors turned to you, they saw your hand firmly in Thomas’s. And there were frowns on all of their faces. Then a nod when their eyes met Thomas's. He would nod back. The man who bested them. The man who beat them. Now, for once, you could be at a party of Roper’s and relax.
Well, not entirely. Elena was still with her family. And you made sure that you at least stayed by her side. You wouldn't leave her alone. The thought of what almost happened at her birthday party... made you want to be sick and disturbed you so much that it chilled your body and made you tense. So you kept an eye on her at the bare minimum. Though it seemed by now, she was sitting by Danny as he showed her his books.
"Wouldn't you like something to drink, darling?" Thomas asked, his voice putting a bit more weight on darling.
"I would love a drink" You nodded.
Both of you walked up to the bar. There was already a guy right by you. The guy from the last party who asked about your book- you could feel his green eyes on you and already smell the hair gel on his platinum blonde comb-over. You could see him get ready with a way to hit on you as he sat. But then his eyes turned up to see the intimidating Six Foot Two barricade to get to your panties. The guy shrunk into himself and then turned away promptly. You had to smirk. You knew he wanted to date you. But now it looked like the only date That Asshole would get tonight would be with his right hand.
"Could the lady have a martini, please?" Thomas asked the bartender. The old man nodded and handed you one. Thomas leaned there to watch the bartender make the drink.
Right as you turned, another familiar man from the other day swung by. Mr. Jacobson. He had been pretty persistent and determined last time. Though your body flinched as if ready for a fight, you made yourself still. Part of you didn’t shoo him away because you knew it was going to be entertaining to watch him try tonight.
You saw Thomas turning to watch you two.
"Hey there, Y/N, you look gorgeous again," Mr. Jacobson said, picking at a toothpick between his teeth with the sensual appeal of a patient at the dentist.
You opened your mouth to speak. To say something. A fruitless refusal. It was in your habit to. Then your fake boyfriend arrived. You felt Thomas’s arm reach across your shoulders. A protective half-hug. You could feel the muscles from how well fitted his suit was and you felt your breath flutter in your lungs. Looking up, Thomas gave the man an icy glare.
"I know she does."
The pure threat of it. If you had to be honest, the low growl in his voice…did something to you. You felt yourself clench your legs. Your breath was shallow and sharp You...liked it. Yes, it wasn't the most progressive thing to be a damsel in distress. But with this fine specimen in blue rescuing you, you were not going to complain.
Mr. Jacobson jumped and his face turned pale. He put his arms up.
"Oh, my bad! My bad! I thought she was...single, you know."
"No, she's not," Thomas said flatly. His glare continued right into the eyes of Mr. Jacobson.
“I am so sorry, man. So sorry, I swear…won’t happen! Won’t happen again!” he begged.
"It won't," Thomas replied firmly.
The guy fluttered away to the other end of the room. You looked up and smiled.
"Thank you, Thomas,"
“Y/N!” you heard Jed from across the room. Already in her light blue summery dress. The flowing skirt made her seem like a mermaid as she walked up. Then she widened her eyes at you.
You turned around and went over to give her a hug.
“You look lovely!” she said.
“Oh Jed, stop! You look gorgeous too!” you shook.
“Oh, don’t say that and…is that…is that Thomas!?” she asked.
You turned over. Thomas went up to her and shook her hand.
“Yes…” You turned to her. Trying to ignore how dry your mouth was with the phrase.
“Jed, Thomas, and I are dating now!” you announced. You followed it by sipping your martini.
Her jaw dropped, but she let a smile on her dazzling face and hugged you.
“Oh my god…that’s wonderful! Y/N! Oh, you should have told me the second it happened!”
"We wanted to be private...until we were certain we were on the same page," you lied through your teeth mid-hug.
Then she dropped to a frown and her eyes hardened. She let go of the hug and crossed her long arms.
“My sister is a sweetheart. And you will treat her well. You got it?”
You were surprised, but you took it.
“Yes, miss," Thomas replied.
“I will fight you if you do anything to hurt you,” she added.
“I understand…and I won’t do anything, Jed. I'll treat her well. Promise," he swore.
“Thank you…”
You sighed. Jed was right- he was decent. As dinner arrived, you both sat next to Elena and her parents. You were glad for her being a third wheel. She spoke to you and smiled. You even made jokes with each other. Both you and Thomas were aware of holding each other's hands whenever possible. But it didn't feel too different from just eating next to him anytime. He did flash you a smile and you found yourself smiling back. On instinct.
But…you couldn’t get this too complicated quickly. No, you read enough Romance novels to know where this kind of shit led up to. It wasn't right. You didn't like this...romance was in stories and fiction. Not in the real world. In the real world, where too many men, men like Roper, were just there to assert power and squash the women beneath them to prove a point. You couldn't risk that. Couldn't risk anything. Just enjoy a fleeting fantasy. A pretense. Like being an actor on the stage.
After dinner, he led you out to the balcony. There were a couple of other people out there smoking cigarettes and admiring the view of the city and the ocean at night. Then they began to walk off. You both were left alone. So you squared your voice.
"Thomas, promise me this thing. Don't get any emotions. Because I won't. Let's not get too attached to each other during this. The last thing I need is to actually believe our little game with Roper.”
He leaned over the balcony. A light breeze from the night drifted onto you both.
“What emotions should be involved?” he asked.
You felt yourself cross your arms. Your jaw hung open, but no words formed immediately.
“Um...Just....friendship I guess, nothing more," you answered.
He nodded with a small smile.
"If that is what makes you safe, then I won't mind," he assured you.
You put your forearms on the balcony. You looked out at the moonlight as its reflection still shimmered over the gentle rustling of the sea.
"You’re quite the gentleman," you acknowledged.
“I tried. I saw how uncomfortable they made you, Y/N. I feel sorry you have to go through that… You don’t deserve to feel unsafe," he said.
"Thank you....Thomas, Maybe I should return the favor…Is there anything I can help you with, Thomas?" you asked, turning to him.
He looked at you. Then he licked his lips and took in a breath, ready to say his boon.
"Not really, just this one thing..." he began.
“What is it?”
"If they're going to believe we're a couple...we have to know things about each other. That’s what couples do. They might test us. Especially when we’re alone. That's what couples do.”
You tilted your head.
"Have you been in relationships before?" you asked curiously.
He nodded.
"Married briefly, then we divorced. We were both young-too young to understand what marriage meant. And...there was a woman once but...it didn't work out," he answered.
You heard the wind whistle in your ear.
"Even with those- you learn things about each other. I could tell you my ex-wife liked to paint. Jed could tell you what Roper's favorite color is if you asked her," he pointed out. "You know...hobbies. Foods. Favorite colors. What are yours, Y/N?"
You blinked. Then opening your mouth, you began your answers. “Well, for one, I like to read. I bring books in my purses in case events get dull. Jed would tease me about it. I have her and our mom…but things are complicated right now...”
It felt like some icebreaker activity on the first day of school. But he smiled warmly, nodding. You described what you liked to do. Your favorite foods you couldn't resist. And the colors that you liked the most. Thomas relaxed to a smile and nodded.
"I'll keep that in mind," he replied.
You drummed your fingers on the balcony.
"Do you have hobbies, Thomas?" you asked.
He nodded.
"Yes. I like to read, too. I collect books," he answered. He stood up and put his hands in his pockets.
"Ooo, and your family?"
"Father died. Then my mum. Never had a real family. Just foster homes."
You looked down to the ground.
"Oh...I'm sorry..."
He then took out his hand. He touched your chin, lifting it gently to look at him. He only shrugged with a calm expression on his face.
"Don't be...I only got to have many families. I was with a family who spoke Arabic. Another spoke German. I learned their languages, too."
"Cool! Do you know a phrase you can teach me?" you asked.
He nodded. He looked around, then his eyes met yours again.
"Easily-here's a German one. Die Sterne sind heute Nacht hell."
"And that means..."
He removed a hand from his pocket and pointed at the sky.
"The stars are bright tonight..."
Both of you looked up-an expanse of stars glowed above you. They were so bright they glistened down. Their own light gave his skin a more silver glow to him. You saw he smiled and his shoulders relaxed. He looked beautiful, looking up, admiring the sky.
“Yes…they’re very pretty,” you said.
There was a knock on the glass door and you turned and saw Jed. She signaled to you that the guests were heading out and you had to say your goodbyes. You both flashed a "couple" smile and a brief, half "couple" hug. Especially with her eyes on the both of you. As you headed back inside, she turned to you.
“Well, first you had Danny, now you have Elena, and now Thomas! It’s like you hardly see me!” she teased.
“Oh, by all means- join us in our room, we could get a sleeping bag for you! And don’t pretend you don’t have your own man too.”
She smirked, then gave you a kiss on the side of her head. But as you looked back, Thomas was still admiring the sky.
The next morning, you woke up in your room to the sounds of birds. You listened to Elena snore in the bed next to you. She went on her stomach, and her dark hair splayed across the pillow. It was like the snore of a puppy and it was pretty cute, you had to admit.
She was resting. She was sleeping. She was alive-her inhales and exhales signaled by his body rising and falling softly.
When you went over to her counter, you took note of something you hadn't noticed- prescription bottles. Looking at them, you saw her counselor prescribed her anti-depressants yesterday. You smiled. It did look like she was going to have to take one in the morning. You'd have to remind her. Normally, you’d get water or coffee, but you made a promise not to leave her alone. You would honor it. Just in case she woke up. But as you sat by in the room, you turned your head to the window to look outside. Dear God, You were glad you looked.
Outside, you saw none other than your fake boyfriend, Thomas, running on the beach in dark shorts. No shoes. And no shirt.
You felt the corners of your lips tug up as if a smile was brewing. You felt your eyes glaze over his muscled abdominals- he was lean but you could count the six packs on his ripped stomach. His pectorals bounced with the force of his jogging. All of a sudden, you understood heterosexual men a lot more. He was delicious. His determined eyes shot forward like nothing on earth was going to stop him from getting to the other side of that beach. And that was alluring, to put it mildly. You could have squealed and pressed your face to the window like a fangirl, but stayed put. Savoring each inch of him. From his short hair to the trail of hair on his lower stomach leading you to the center of sin. His muscled arms with bulging biceps moved with each turn of his shoulder per step. You found yourself creeping to a corner. So he wouldn't see. So you could indulge yourself. Oogle him. Even lust after him. He was getting very sweaty and you could feel his breathing with how hard he ran. Then you would be blessed with imagining him taking a shower.
You were tempted for a second to wake up Elena so she could see him too and drool over him. But honestly, it went in a second because you could not take your eyes off of him.
“Holy shit” was the only phrase in your head as you watched him continue to run on. Even seeing how his sweat was hinted at by the glow of the rising sun. His trail grazed the ocean and the water splashed from his running. And his feet weren't the only thing starting to get damp.
You felt warm and tingly as he ran by. Your pussy was beginning to....feel things you hadn't felt in a long while. Then he was gone. You had a good look at his perfect, peachy behind and the back of his muscular thighs in the shorts and then he went on his way.
You swallowed. Pacing the floor, you shook your hands as if to shake the lust from your body. You were a lot more thrilled you had to be a pretend girlfriend to him. All the man on earth and it was him you got to hold hands and sit next to! Any other girl could have him. It was a miracle he didn't have a hundred lovers at this point- but he was yours! All yours!
No-NO! A more rational part of your brain yelled.
Yes, he's hot. But it's fake. Don't let your feelings get involved. He's a nice man. He’s got an amazing body. But he's still a man. Yes, he's hot, but it's fake, Y/N, you reminded yourself that morning.
It's fake, it's fake, it's fake.
That morning at breakfast, you could smell that Thomas had taken a shower. Elena stood by you when he greeted you. He used a soap scented with citrus. God, the fantasy of him taking a shower was screaming in your impulsive thoughts now. He went up to you and smiled. In Boyfriend ™ mode, he gave you a half-hug.
“How are you, darling?” he asked.
“I’m alright. Starving.”
“Then let’s get you something to eat then,” he said as the chef wheeled in omelets and toast for everybody.
You looked over around the table. Then a sight caught you that hit you like a brick.
Sandy and Caro had hired a nanny- a gorgeous young woman hired to look after Sady and Caro's two little boys. But Sandy sat next to the beautiful woman and smiled at her. Not in a way that felt appropriate.
“Why, don’t you look beautiful this morning!? Did you wake up like this?” he asked the lady.
“Oh…yes! Yes, I did,” she replied flirtatiously.
Wait a minute, you thought. How long has she been here? When you counted the weeks, you realized that there was a correlation between Sandy stopping his flirting with you when she first arrived. No coincidence. Your mind spiraled further.
The woman knew he was a married man. It was not stopping her.
Whipping your eyes to the side you saw Caro blink. Her face went pale. Then red. Then pale again. Their boys complained bout wanting pancakes and she would tell the chef to make some batter for them. But Caro didn't eat the rest of her food.
You felt suddenly sick. You gripped your fork in your hand.
“Is everything alright, Y/N?” Thomas asked, his jaw tight but his voice earnest.
“I…I, uh, we’ll talk later. Not right now,” you said.
Thomas was there, he slipped a hand to hold yours as you ate.
The next day, you took Elena to visit the church before getting some lunch somewhere. It was a blazing day and you were grateful for the coolness of the cathedral. A sanctuary in many ways. The heat. And for Elena. Both of you sat down. You saw her make the sign of the cross and half kneel before sitting at a pew. She was right- this was a safe place. And maybe if Roper was the devil, then he couldn't touch you here. Neither of you.
"How is therapy going?" you asked.
"It's...it's good. Very good. I never listened to someone...as kind as her...I never felt so...so safe. No guards. No Papi. Nothing. She told me all sorts of things. I cry almost the whole time. But she…she listens to me. She believes me. She tells me every feeling and part of life is only temporary and the bad feelings and bad parts eventually go away…"
"That's good. I'm glad. And the apartment search? Have you picked a city?"
"I'd like to live here. It's not too far but far enough. I'm looking at applications...And you- how are you and Thomas?"
"We're...we're good, thank you."
"Just good? How did you two meet?" she asked.
"Well...he rescued Danny. Roper brought him to recover. Got to talk to him a lot. Then he asked me out." So far, so good. You just prayed he would say the same if someone asked him.
"Does he kiss you?"
"Yes," you lied.
"I don't see it. I see your sister kiss Roper all the time."
"Thomas...it's the British in him. Stiff upper lip. He's not the PDA type outside of hands and hugging. That might be pushing it....he kissed me the other night under the stars at the party." you added with a smile. Your memory flashed to Thomas staring up at the sky.
"Huh...nice...but Y/N...I’ve been scared..."
She blinked.
"Will Roper...catch me? Will he...kill me? He's not beneath it. I know he is."
"Why would Roper want to kill the daughter of his lawyer? He'd turn his own ally against him?"
Her jaw tightened.
"He'll see...that I'm not happy...he knows I know the truth about him…"
“Then why hasn’t he done it yet?” you asked.
“I…I don’t know…but I want to get out now!"
"Then..." you turned around.
"Then that means, if you're not happy draining his wealth, then we'll get out of here. Just bear it-be patient, Elena. We have to find you an apartment first...and then we go through the application process."
Her eyes shined.
"Anywhere is better than at Roper''s."
"Okay...we'll take some time here. You can go to the confessional if you want. Whenever you're ready...let's find a place that's leasing. Ask them some questions. See what you might like.”
Elena nodded. After a bit, you saw her go off and have a chat with the other people around the cathedral. Old women kissing their cross necklaces. Tourists taking photos on their phones. Funny...that was the same pregnant tourist she talked to on the first day! Maybe a pregnant Catholic tourist. She went back to you and you gave her a smile as you both stood up and walked down the halls to the door.
You commented "One thing to remember about yourself Elena- you're a good person. You make friends with everyone- no wonder that lady keeps coming back to you! People like you!"
She sighed and her shoulders sagged.
“What is it?”
"Y/N…I feel sometimes I’m…I’m yelling for help to get out, but at my parents, at Roper’s…it’s like no one can hear me. I should be happy. But I’m not…I'm just...just a whining, weak little rich girl..."
Tears were in the ducts of her eyes.
"No, Elena. Don’t discredit yourself. You are going through a hard time. Something happened to you to make you think there was no getting better. And that poor girl may think she has no other escape...but there is...there always is…and you are not alone...”
You turned to her, gripping her shoulders.
“Deaths’ a permanent solution to a temporary problem. You have to remember that. Your problems are real…so are mine! But they are temporary!”
You swallowed, your voice broke with your words yet you spoke on. But you saw Eelena smile despite her sobs.
“You’re already seeking help. And getting therapy and talking. And we’re getting you a new place. Even if it takes a while, you’re going to get out of Roper’s grasp and never look back, and never have to live off of blood money again!! Neither of us will!"
You were crying too.
"I promise you. We will get you to escape. We'll find something- I will do whatever it takes. That little rich girl isn't whiny or weak...she's a brave young woman who looked at death right in its eye and when she was going to cross….she chose life instead. She did the right thing. She's a hero who saved herself and she deserves to be happy."
Crying, she hugged you deeply.
“Oh, Y/N! Thank you! T-thank you-u-u,” she replied, her own voice breaking with tears. But it felt nice. Freeing. Crying released the tension between the two of you. “You’re a strong woman, Elena. I’m proud of you-just for living. Just for surviving.”
After lunch, both of you toured apartments around. Elena lit up and smiled with each bare corner and wall you both saw. As you returned, it was a lazy evening. You were enjoying your reading while lounging at the pool. You saw Thomas walk around and saw Elena chatting with him. Part of you was tempted to be jealous or concerned. But it was alright. There seemed nothing inappropriate between them. Let her make another friend. But Caro only sat by the edge dipping her bare feet in the water. Her face was despondent. Staring at nothing.
There was a dinner the next day. It was no party (Corky was grateful- guests were a lot to keep track of). But it was nice as always. Nice with lobsters for everyone and large glasses of wine for each person. You saw Corky was already on his third one as he dug into his crab cakes and spuds. You had to grin. At least he was off your back when he had a few.
But Jonathan was handsome as ever. In just a dark suit and white shirt, he still appeared like a Greek god in the flesh. Whenever he smiled at you, it was like you had swallowed a bird and it was flying around in your stomach.
"Is there any...dessert you'd like to split?" he'd ask.
"Yes, uhm...how about...uh- a slice of cake- sweetie," you said, adding emphasis on the last two words should anyone hear.
"Cake sounds marvelous, my dear," he said, feeling yourself tingle at the words. Enjoying the fakeness while it lasted.
Elena looked at you and gave a smile over her chicken as she continued to eat.
Yes- eat. Drink water. Sleep. Live, Elena, live, I'll get you out. You’re going to live. You’re going to be happy with your life, I promise...
"Oh, Thomas! One would think you were a nun and a eunuch!" Roper teased.
You shot up. You made a point by leaning closer and holding Thomas’s hand.
“Roper, really…” you said. But you were interrupted.
"Go on, Y/N is as sweet as that dessert, why don't you give her a little kiss on the cheek..."
You looked down, an embarrassed laugh coming out of you. Thomas opened his mouth to speak, but Roper pressed further. He was testing you both and he knew it. Like you were both his playthings.
"C'mon! Just a peck, Loverboy!” Roper pressed.
You glanced at him and he at you.
“Would you be okay if I kissed you, just on the cheek?” Thomas asked.
“Uh, yes. Sure.”
He leaned in close. You could smell the food on his breath and feel warm air from his nostrils, from his breathing. Then he brought his lips to your cheek. They were soft. Gentle. Like a drizzle in April. You felt your whole body get hot. The fact you were kissed in such a spot. It was as chaste as chaste could be. Yet you could have melted from how tender his lips felt against the skin of your cheek. Then he retreated.
Roper smiled and lifted his glass, taking a sip of his chardonnay.
It then struck you. Sandy and the babysitter had been gone. Too long. Suspiciously long. Then, from the hallway, you heard steps. And laughter- both deep masculine and bright feminine voices. The nanny returned first. The nanny was blushing, but smiling as she returned. Then a few minutes later, Sandy walked returned. You saw his shirt looked disshelved and there was a swagger to his steps.
The asshole wasn’t even subtle or secret about it.
Caro looked devastated. Her face was white. She was shaking. Everyone turned their faces away and kept talking as if nothing happened. Even if Caro looked like she was going to break in a hundred bits. You could tell it was everything in her not to cry in front of her boys.
“Well, I hope everyone has room for dessert. Hear the cake’s magnificent! A chef Ludesma signature!” Sandy announced with a flourish of his voice. That stupid asshole. Caro was devoted to him and she loved him. She did everything right- gorgeous socialite mom who gave Sandy two sons to take fishing and to sports games to be more copies of their father. She always got her hair and nails done and her clothes always looked in place. She was friendly and polite to everyone and you never heard of her capable of hurting a fly. Caro never stepped a toe out of line and looked away when men hit on her. And that bastard cheated on her anyway.
She did everything right and she was the one crying. He was having an affair, and he was smiling.
You had had enough. You got right out of your chair. Thomas looked up at you, but his face remained neutral.
You went up to Sandy before your self-control could get you. You took Sandy and looked him in the eye. He went up, wiping his mouth with his napkin- you didn’t see it closely but you knew the nanny wore pink lipstick. Sandy looked up at you with that stupid, shit-eating grin.
"Y/N, how are-"
You slapped him hard before he could finish his sentence. The crowd gasped and chairs squeaked as people got up. Sandy immediately got up, trying to let his tallness and his masculinity scare you away. But you did not back down.
“Y/N, what was the point of-”
Before he could finish that, you gave him a kick in the groin too. He groaned and leaned over in pain, then you grabbed his shirt.
"You stop fucking that babysitter, or I WILL use one of the wine glasses and break it and cut your balls off with it, do you understand?" you raged.
His eyes went wide and he gritted his teeth. You saw his fists curled as if ready to punch you. You took a step back but didn’t stop glaring his eyes.
“Caro loves you and this is how you repay her, you prick?! She doesn’t deserve you. You’re lucky she hasn’t stabbed you!” you continued.
“You little bitch!” Sandy cursed.
But the party already ran up to you. People held both Sandy and you back.
Roper stood up. He went over to Sandy and got him, restraining him from lunging. You felt Jed and Thomas get up and get you, pulling you back. Then you shot your eyes into the nanny to give her a death glare. You would have slapped her too if it wasn't for Jed holding you back.
“! You’re as bad as he is! You KNEW he was married, and it didn’t stop you, you little-”
Jed pulled you away. And you gritted your teeth as the nanny stared horrified, frozen in her seat.
Sandy meanwhile was pointing a meaty, sausage-like finger in your direction.
"Did you see what she did!? She attacked me!” he cried.
"Now, Sandy, don't panic...it's just a scuffle. I don't see a mark on your cheek. Not a large one, anyway." Roper began.
He glared at you. His voice steeled with more venom than you could imagine.
"We know the lowest brothels in Munich and we'll sell you straight to them this minute !" he threatened.
You felt your jaw clench. Terror gripped you and you couldn't move, couldn't think.
“No! Please! Please don’t!” Jed begged, leaning forward.
Then Thomas stepped forward. He replaced Jed's arm around you and then leaned out a hand in peace. Jed ran forward to beg Roper and Sandy not to sell you off as punishment. Could they...could they do that...oh no...what on earth had you done!?!
Thomas however, was still quiet. But he was strong. You found yourself wanting to nuzzle into his shirt. You could smell his cologne subtly applied. He was again...so warm and soft. And safe. He then began speaking with such authority, anyone had to listen.
"Please...everyone...let's not fret ourselves. Sandy has done wrong, and he should acknowledge how much this hurt his wife. Don’t be upset at Y/N, either. She’s fiercely devoted to her friends, especially the women here. She was trying to protect Caro," he reasoned.
He looked down at you. His gaze softened and you felt yourself relax a little near him. His arm enclasped you in an embrace. Youcould feel his pulse in his body. You hugged him back and swallowed hard.
Roper furrowed his brow. He then took a step forward and spoke to your pretend boyfriend giving you a very real defense.
"If she was my woman...she would be off to Germany by now. But she's not. Thomas, you have to learn to control your woman. I do so with Jed. Sandy does it with Caro. Now it’s your turn. Take her to your quarters. Give her a dressing down. Or we will have to do it for you,” threatened Roper.
You felt your heart race inside your ears. This was some real 19th-century bullshit Roper was pulling out of his ass. Would that be…be possible? Now even Jed looked scared. So very scared. And she stopped trying to beg him. Oh god, now it was going to happen to you. Elena and her parents were silent and you saw the teenage girl trembling. She took a step forward out of her seat, but then Roper put an arm up to stop her.
Thomas then put his hand around your arm.
“Here…I will take her to my room and I will dress her down, as we say. Just give us a moment…” he began.
Thomas was a nice man. A docile, polite, quiet, if not slightly mild man when you talked to him. He wouldn’t…beat you. He didn't seem the type. hen again, you remembered a phrase you heard once. It was always the ones you would never suspect. You bit back your bile. Your legs were shaking so badly, you wondered if you were standing.
“Here, Y/N…come with me…” he directed.
You had no choice but to follow as he led you by pulling you with him. His touch felt like a grip this time. You were shaking. Then he led you out. Out of that building. The guards nodded and let him. Out into the cool night air with the crickets and stars. You could still smell the sea too. It would usually be comforting. But this was not usual. You saw his muscles and big hands- he could overtake you in a fight. A blow from his fists would hurt. He could easily overpower you. You should have known. You should have known he was Roper's friend. And friends meant one's future-your sister's future. Yours.
He had a smaller cottage near the property. He took you right inside into the front foyer- a little hall with a kitchenette right there. Then he locked the door and looked at you. His jaw tight. Then he took a step forward. You squeezed your eyes shut and braced yourself.
“Just get it over with, quick!” you insisted.
“Y/N…you're safe here. They would have pressured me to hit you. But I'm not. Not here or anywhere. I’m not going to hurt you…” he said.
You opened your eyes. Your shoulders relaxed though your heart was still racing. He went up to you.
“Thomas, what are you talking about?” you hissed.
He leaned in close. His voice was just a whisper.
“You don’t have to call me Thomas here…you can call me Jonathan.”
“What…you have another name?” you asked, your mind reeling with every word he said.
“Yes-Jonathan Pine.”

Summary: Pete has a wet dream, squished between Patrick and Joe in the van, and wakes up to find Patrick glaring at him. Patrick can't take this shit anymore, and he wants Pete to know about it. Pete takes everything that Patrick dishes out. Read here on AO3
The hips he has his fingers pressed into are so soft that at first, Pete is sure the person he's straddling is a woman.
Then he opens his eyes and- oh.
It's Patrick.
This is kinda weird, Pete thinks, as he thrusts in and out of his best friend. But then Patrick opens his eyes for a moment, squinting up at Pete without his glasses. He sees who it is, that it's Pete, and smiles angelically up at him. Pete smiles back and thrusts into him at a slightly different angle, and Patrick moans. He goddamn moans.
So Pete decides to just go with it; this is kind of how he always imagined it going anyway. If the two of them ever-
Usually he stops that thought before it can go any further, but in his subconscious, when he's dreaming, or just when his brain wants to torture him with thoughts of what he can't have and shouldn't want. But right now, Patrick is smiling and groaning beneath him, meeting him thrust for thrust, so Pete allows himself to indulge, for once.
He always thought it would be like this, taking Patrick by the hand and showing him the delights of getting carnal with another dude. Patrick opening up before him, soft as cream, except the one part of him which is hard as a rock.
Except then he comes, and his eyes fly open, and he's in the van wedged between Joe and Patrick, the latter of whom is staring at him - glaring at him.
Pete's eyes fly open and meet Patrick's, who's been staring at him a little too intensely as he writhes and moans in the back of the van.
Pete twists round to check if Joe has been party to this too, but he's still asleep. The man can sleep through anything. Then Pete turns round to face Patrick again.
"Jesus," Patrick says, with a little too much feeling and something like disgust, and shame curls in Pete's eyes. Fuck, Patrick thinks, and punches the wall of the van hard enough to make a sound, but he's not sure if his violent reaction is due to watching Pete experience a wet dream when Patrick hasn't jerked off for days, or from seeing the humiliation in Pete's eyes and knowing it's his fault.
The semi in his pants might also have something to do with it, but Patrick tries to ignore that.
"You OK, Patrick?" Pete says timidly, almost sweetly, like he didn't just come in his pants in front of Patrick.
Oh, and now the semi is a full hard on and when Pete glances down he can tell, because when he looks up at Patrick's face again he's smirking.
And suddenly Patrick can't take it anymore - living in a van, no privacy, no space, playing shows to hostile or non-existent audiences, trying to jerk off quietly in a bathroom the one night in free they can afford a hotel room, trying to get some sleep in a space that's way too cramped for four guys to share, and always, always, Pete's face smirking up at him, like this all a game, or some big joke to him.
Before Pete or either of the others can react, Patrick has pushed Pete onto the floor and straddled him, punching him right in his smirking little face.
Joe's awake now, and Andy too - Joe protests and Andy gets up to haul Patrick off Pete, but Pete just shakes his head.
"Let him get it out of his system," Pete says serenely, like he isn't talking about Patrick beating the shit out of him. Andy stands there, unsure what to do, as Patrick rains down blows on Pete's face and shoulders, but he must just shrug and sit down, leaving them to it, since nobody attempts to stop Patrick.
Maybe he's rutting against Pete's thigh at the same time, but nobody else has to know that, do they?
Nobody else but Pete, who definitely knows, who can definitely feel Patrick's boner rubbing against him like he's trying to create enough friction to start a fire with his dick, who's still smirking up at him past the fat lip Patrick's just given him.
He scratches ineffectually at Pete's neck and shoulders and chest as everything comes to a crescendo, his anger and his orgasm, and when he comes he sinks his teeth into Pete's neck to stifle his moan.
When it's over, he lets Pete go and sits up, breathing heavily. He glances up at Andy and Joe, who are pointedly not looking at them, and then back down to Pete, who raises his eyebrows at him, as if he didn't also just come in his pants.
Then Pete eases himself up slightly, and puts his hand on Patrick's shoulder, very firmly. His touch grounds Patrick somehow, and he's back on Earth, on the floor of the van, instead of in a red haze of anger and arousal.
"You OK, Patrick?" he says again, with such tenderness and care that Patrick almost starts crying, and finally notices the bruises and scratches and bleeding lip that he's left on his best friend.
"Oh my God, Pete," he says, looking down at the carnage he's caused and scooting away, standing up and holding his hands up like he's innocent, even though he is absolutely, one hundred percent guilty. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry, oh my God."
"Patrick," says Pete quickly, sitting up properly. "Patrick, it's fine."
"Fine? Fine?! Pete, I just beat you up!" And came from dry humping your leg, he thinks, but he can't deal with that right now. Better to just focus on the thing in front of him, the thing they can talk about in front of Joe and Andy. Which is Pete. Hurt. By him.
Pete gets up real quick, but then approaches Patrick slowly, carefully, like he's a spooked horse. "Patrick, I promise it's OK. I let you. You needed to get it out of your system."
"Yeah but- but not like that," says Patrick, his face white. He opens his mouth to apologise some more, but Pete interrupts him.
"We need a hotel night," he announces. The other two protest, complaining about the expense and how they're not due another hotel night for the next two days, but Pete cuts them off. "No," he says, glancing at Patrick. "We can't spend another night in this van together, we're all going crazy." Which means Patrick's going crazy, he knows, and hangs his head. "I'll pay for it myself," he says, "let's just find somewhere to stay."
"Pete, no, you don't have to do that," Patrick says, feeling his face burn red with embarrassment. This is his fault; everyone else can handle sleeping in a van for nights on end without going insane and attacking their bandmate, why can't he? Now Pete's gonna spend money he can't afford, just because Patrick is a whiny little baby who can't control his emotions, and-
Pete grips his hand and Patrick's thoughts just stop. "I think I do," Pete says, with a stern look, but it's belied by the softness with which Pete is stroking his thumb across the knuckles of his balled fist.
They drive to a hotel in the nearest town that doesn't look to sketchy or too upmarket, and Pete goes in to enquire about the room. Patrick follows him, needing to apologise properly.
"Pete, I'm sorry," he says, yet again. "Pete, stop, look, let me apologise properly."
Pete turns toward him with a half smile. "You already did," he says. "Look, Patrick, it's not just you, we're all going insane in there. One of us had to break first."
"Yeah but...the others wouldn't have hit you. Or, y'know," he mumbles, the tips of his ears going red, "the other thing." Pete is still smiling, a little bit, but he also looks sad, and Patrick kinda hates it when Pete is sad. "We're still best friends, right?" he can't help asking in a small, tight voice, chin tucked into his chest so he doesn't have to see Pete's expression.
"Yeah, Patrick," Pete says, ruffling Patrick's hair, "We're still best friends."
When Patrick dares to look up again, Pete is grinning at him, so he thinks maybe they're gonna be OK.
"I don't know why I get like that," he explains, following Pete to the hotel reception, "it's just the enclosed space and all the guys and the van and the smells and-" You, he thinks. You drive me crazy and I don't understand why, 'cause I love you more than pretty much anyone else I've ever met. In fact maybe it's because I love you more than anyone else I've ever met.
Pete just shakes his head and nudges Patrick with his shoulder, and then turns to the lady at the desk and asks if they've got any rooms.
Usually they just get one room and bunk in together - it's better than sleeping in the van, but not by much. But this time Pete asks for two rooms and when Patrick looks at him quizzically, Pete just ignores him and fills out the booking form.
The lady hands Pete two key cards, and Pete hands one to Patrick.
"You can go now if you want, get some rest. Room 26."
Patrick is confused. "You gonna come and knock on my door later, then?"
Pete shrugs. "I mean, I can if you want company. But I thought I'd just bunk with the guys, give you some space. You need it. And rest, proper rest, Patrick, or you'll fall asleep on stage like you used to in math class. And don't try to say you didn't, your mom told me!"
Patrick snorts lightly in amusement, feeling relief roll over him like a wave. His own space, privacy, a bed he doesn't have to share with four other guys. A shower! Patrick is overcome with gratitude by Pete's gesture, and Pete must read it on his face (or maybe in the way his whole body has relaxed after days of being taut as a guitar string about to snap).
"You're welcome," he says. "Now go and get some sleep."
Patrick just nods and watches his best friend walk back out into the night to Andy and Joe.
Then he turns on his heel and heads down the hallway to sink into a blessed, peaceful, uninterrupted sleep.

The Child of God
Part 6
I had some free time today, so I thought about adding this new chapter! A little heads-up: Bruno is his adult self in this story. It would be impossible for Dio, even in this AU, to allow a child to look after his son. Nope nope. I usually like to keep the ages and the overall characters as canon as possible, but we have an exception for this story.
I hope you guys will like this!
Bruno was a strange, kind human.
Of course, kindness wasn't something Giorno had grown used to back when he was still with his parents, they would never be kind, never look after him, never smile at him. The evil woman wouldn't care about him, and the evil man would beat him for any reason. Now that he was living with his real father, he understood the concept of kindness, but only applied it when necessary. His father had servants, meaning he was above them. Why was it necessary to be kind to them? Giorno had looked up to his father the moment he met him, although he had been scared. His father kept him close, and he knew it was because he was his only family, therefore he could be loving, and sometimes kind and joking, but only because Giorno was his son. It didn't feel right to be good or kind to a stranger.
Yet, Bruno was soft, generous, and attentive to the boy the moment he entered the room. It felt bizarre.
Dio had returned to his side of the villa, hiding from the sun. He had given Bruno a piercing look before going, and Giorno knew the human in front of him would immediately get impaled if anything were to happen to him. Bruno had bowed to the vampire again, turning away to place his hands on the back of a chair. Giorno kept staring at him from his spot on the sofa, waiting to see what the man would do. The black-haired man scanned the place carefully, his eyes quickly returning to the seated boy.
"How old are you, Giorno?" He asked, his blue eyes kind. Again.
"I just turned 5." Giorno answered shortly before he climbed off the sofa, walking calmly to the library to pick up the book he and Father had started reading together.
Bruno looked shocked to see the little blond boy carry a huge encyclopedia around, placing it on the sofa and climbing back on to open it expertly, opening the heavy book and going back to reading without looking up at his tutor. Average children didn't quite know how to read at 5, especially complicated words in old books like the one Giorno was holding. He cleared his throat gently, walking up to the child.
"I see you enjoy books." Giorno didn't answer. "I am guessing you take after your father. He seems like a man of great culture." At this, Giorno raised his head again, squinting at the man.
"Do you?" Bruno chuckled, earning him another, harder, squint from the child.
"I used to. But now I prefer to see the things I've read in books in the real world."
Giorno stopped squinting to glance at the exquisite drawing of animals in the book, then back at Bruno.
"You know, those particular insects you're looking at can be found right outside?" Bruno said with a teasing voice. Giorno smiled for a moment, before staring at the man.
"Show me!"
"I will, once you say it politely."
Giorno's excitement cooled down when seeing the man had closed his arms on his chest, prepared to wait a long time. Was it necessary for him to be polite even to his tutor? He remembered the way his father was still polite to the servants, how it showed he was indeed better than them, but also had great manners. The blonde boy nodded at Bruno.
"Please, show me where to find the insects."
Bruno smiled widely, standing back up and holding out a hand to Giorno to help him down. The boy didn't take his hand, handling the height of the sofa with ease, and hurriedly placed the book back in its designed place in the library, trotting back to the standing man. The two walked to the gardens that were illuminated by the late morning sun. Thankfully, the weather was kind and warm for April, allowing the trees and flowers to slowly burgeon, the grass waking up from its winter state. Giorno wasn't cold for now, his little dark pants and long-sleeved t-shirt covered him enough for Bruno not to worry.
For the next hour, Bruno showed Giorno the different few things he knew about insects and animals: where did they live, why they hibernated, why did they look like that, and why some were bigger than others. Giorno faked his disinterest for a minute only, incapable of resisting sitting on the ground to try to pick up some of the few insects that were still out, including snails, that he mischievously placed on Bruno's hand when he wasn't looking. The gasp of disgusts he got out of him was quite funny.
"Those ants... There's the Queen, who's very big, and then the soldiers, and the workers!"
"Yes, they all work for the Queen. She's their leader."
"Oh, so it's like Father." Giorno looked up with a smile. Bruno raised his eyebrows in thought.
"I... Guess we could say that."
.
.
.
By the time the day was over, Bruno had understood and noted that Giorno was a very intelligent boy, curious of the world around him. He was calm and didn't throw tantrums, as if they were above him. Giorno didn't seem to care about hurting feelings or sugar-coating his words, often asking the man why his vest was the way it was, why did he have tattoos, why was he so annoyingly kind, and so on. He was 5, so Bruno didn't take his words too seriously.
Giorno was by the fire in the evening, waiting with patience for his father to enter the room, which wouldn't take very long by now. Bruno was taking care of his own meal, having been instructed the boy would eat with his father only, and so the young man was free to go to his own room and spend the evening the way he wanted.
Dio opened the door silently, and Giorno stood immediately, running up to him with the biggest smile on his face.
"Father!" He exclaimed, Dio staring down at him and rubbing his hair gently.
The tall, bulky vampire didn't utter a word to the child, simply pushing him lightly to the table, indicating him to go eat. It was already too late for the boy to stay up. Giorno understood and graciously sat down, a servant already garnishing his plate with various vegetables and some meat. Dio sat by his side, his eyes focusing on the little human, nodding at him to start eating. It seemed Giorno was in a good mood.
"I saw a lot of the animals from the encyclopedia today! Lots of insects! They were right outside, in the gardens." The child spoke excitedly, yet still careful to not speak with his mouth full.
"Good." Dio simply said. If it wasn't for his son's love for animal life, he would have ignored the words stumbling out of his mouth. And after all, he was still very young. "Eat now, Giorno. We will talk about your day later."
Giorno's smile faded a little, disappointed to not be able to discuss more with his father, but he quickly shook his head. Father was right. It was night, and he'd be able to spend some time with him after supper. He returned to his plate with enthusiasm, eagerly waiting for the moment he'd see his father smile just for him.
Dio stood up soon after, asking his son to get ready for bed. He'd have some business to attend to before joining him. Leaving the room to his servants, the vampire silently walked up to Bruno Buccierati's room, situated in the sunniest part of the villa, now bathed in the blue light of the night. The man was unpacking his light suitcase, humming to himself, unaware of the presence of his host and master. Dio sat down on the simple chair in the room, the wooden frame creaking from the massive weight put on it. Bruno immediately turned around, his stand appearing behind him.
Dio smiled maliciously, his orange eyes shining in the night.
"Tell me, Buccierrati, how did this day go?" His tone was smooth, almost friendly.
"Master Dio... Your son is a very clever boy. I believe he will make you very proud of him." Bruno answered with a smile, trying to stop his skin from crawling from the supernatural chills emanating from the man in front of him.
Dio's smile crumbled. He glared at the young man.
"Of that, I was certain the moment he was born." He stood up, towering over the human with ease. "Giorno will do great things. For that, he must be strong. Starting tomorrow, you will do what it takes for him to increase his strength, mental and physical."
"Master, he is just a boy..."
Before Bruno could finish his sentence, Dio was already lifting him up to the ceiling by his neck, choking him with ease. The human called his stand, only to find it impossible to move as if time had stopped.
"My son will not be weak because of you. Starting tomorrow, he will train his body, train his mind, and when he will be ready, he will receive his Stand." The blonde man, if he was still a man and not a god, clearly spoke. Sweat was dripping on Bruno's forehead. "His youth is none of your concern. You swore to serve me if I helped you with this Passione gang of yours. One mistake from you, one misstep, and you will experience a fate worse than death."
The man was turning pale from the lack of oxygen, his face drenched, his vision troubled. Dio let him go, his body falling on the ground like a sack of potatoes. His breathing returned after a few tries, only to realize he was alone again. He didn't dare feel relieved.
---
Funny thing tho, I looked it up on the Internet, and Queen ants have drone ants, which are made for mating. We could be saying Dio has lots of drones too, since this man fucked everything with a vagina. Also Dio being bad was very nice to write hehe

Smile for the Camera
Smile for the camera by Im a nerd
It should've been a good day.
Instead, Hawks was starting his morning at the HPSC with an irate handler screaming in his face and the President glaring in her frigid way. On the desk was a photograph. It showed two figures standing far too close to be coincidental, but nothing else. The picture was grainy, taken at night, with only a flickering light that Hawks remembered from their meeting area last night.
On the left was Dabi, a high-profile villain. Hawks would recognize him anywhere. The figure on the right had windswept, blond hair, a yellow visor, and large red wings. That should've been him, but it wasn't – it couldn't be. The blond man laughing in this picture looked like he was having the time of his life, experiencing the jokes of a true comedian – not two covert guys trading lame information way too early in the morning.
The picture was fake, obviously.

No seriously, I think I need to lay down why that scene of Sonic wanting to save Surge bothers me so much.
Tumblr media
The place is falling apart. Surge, who for Sonic is nothing more than a crazy girl spouting nonsense about her tragic past and wanting to kill everyone, falls and is now dangling on top of a bottomless pit. As far as Sonic knows, she’s going to fall and die soon.
Sonic here has two choices. One, decide that the problem is taking care of itself and leaving there to die so that she wouldn’t hurt anyone; or two, rushing to save her and then deal with the consequences later.
He chooses to save her, which is both in character for Game Sonic and IDW Sonic. No complaints here. (plus, the alternative would have been too evil even for Shadow)
We can assume that Sonic’s thought process was:
Surge is about to fall
She’s about to die
I don’t want her to die
I gotta save her!
Sonic doesn’t want Surge to die, despite everything, because he’s a good guy at heart.
However, after deciding that she’s still worth saving despite what little he knows about her, he suddenly shifts to being pragmatic.
”Ten second truce so I can haul you out, okay?”
He’s - what else? - giving her a choice. He’s not going to save her: he’s waiting for her to decide to accept Sonic’s help or not. The pacing of the panels imply that at least a second passes between Sonic giving his hand and Surge deciding to zap him - time has passed, with Sonic simply holding his hand forward, not doing anything, waiting.
Side note, this reminds me of a scene in Berserk where Griffith comes to help a 12-year-old Casca against a nobleman who wanted to rape her. He doesn’t kill the man, though: he gives Casca his sword, so that she can defend herself. She was able to kill her almost-rapist, but what if this tiny, malnourished 12 year old couldn’t even hold a sword correctly? Well, no skin off Griffith’s back. He gave her the possibility to prove herself, that’s all he felt bound to.
Griffith is not the noblest of heroes, to put it mildly, and this same behavior seems wrong from Sonic. She’s about to die! This is not the moment to apply your Principles! Save her ass! You’re supposed to act first think later!
“but he didn’t want Surge to attack him!”
Understandable, but Surge was so obsessed with killing Sonic that I’m sure that he could have considered the possibility of her attacking him when his guard was lowered. We know she would have done that. Sonic was acting all “yeah this is nothing new”, he wasn’t depicted as naive as in #12.
But okay. Surge makes it very clear that she’d rather die than being saved by Sonic. And honestly? I don’t blame her. She was having a mental breakdown, and probably felt nothing more than a worthless reject. What did Sonic do? Completely ignore her pain and making her feel just one of many. Oh, you’re suffering because of me? Well sorry, but I handled plenty of people like you. I can fix everyone :) your problems are no big deal for me :) the doctors ruined your life because of my principles? Tough tiddies, imma stick to them :)
I wouldn’t even blame her if she interpreted “ten second truce?” as conditional. “I’ll save your life only if you promise me to be good”. But this is headcanon territory and because i can interpret that line as such if i squint but i want to give the benefit of the doubt.
Now, the big question: what next?
In the comic, rubble comes in and makes Surge fall. This, like in Starline’s death, takes all the agency from both of them: Surge didn’t throw herself off a cliff to show that she despised Sonic more than she cared for her own life. Sonic didn’t have to deal with the consequences of his umpteenth failure. But let’s pretend the place wasn’t falling apart - Sonic didn’t know that that was going to happen.
Surge said “no, I won’t take your hand”. Again, Sonic had two choices here:
1) completely ignoring Surge zapping him, going “screw this”, and hauling her out like he wanted to do. Coherent with his desire to save her... but also the first instance of IDW Sonic not respecting someone’s choice no matter how wrong. Honestly? This could have been an interesting conflict for him. He just waxed poetics over giving people freedom, and he won’t accept Surge’s freedom of letting herself die? Did he do the right thing? Did he have the right to make the choice for her? ... oh my god does he have the right to impose choices on everyone? It could have been the start of some character development... but nahh falling rocks :V
2) Sonic sighing, saying “okay, it’s your choice”, and leaving her behind, maybe complaining to himself that alas, this is the issue of giving people freedom. Once again, he would have stuck with his Principles... but also he would have let a person die. Not letting an evil robot go, not letting six monsters chill on their home planet, he would have killed a pained girl. And for what, for the moral justness of respecting someone’s irrational choice? Not only that, but how would it have felt for Surge? To be taunted with the possibility of living, then at her first “no”, being left behind? It would have exarcebated her feelings of worthlessness tenfold! “oh but she hurt sonic out of spite” yeah true but what would you do if you saw a person about to jump off a bridge? Let them jump because they want to die and well, can’t impose on their will? “but they punched me when I tried to intervene so they’re very deadset on dying :(” imagine if people used this logic.
You know what, this would have also been a good direction to go for IDW Sonic: how can you even feel right, how can you sleep at night, when you killed someone to stick with your Principles? Well, I can imagine an AU where Sonic feels incredible remorse for this, but let’s be honest. He found justifications for Metal, he found justifications for the D6, what would have it been this time, “well she was evil”? Completely cementing himself as devoid of empathy? Becoming like Shadow in #6? Becoming like Flynn when he gleefully killed off Starline because “he was a bad guy and he deserved it”? But nahh, falling rocks :V
I honestly can’t find any alterative to this that isn’t a stupid deus ex machina like the Falling Rocks. Sonic giving Surge the choice to be saved has huge implications for his character, and both interesting (and chilling in one case) roads were cut off by a stupid narrative device that left us only with Sonic yet again not learning from his mistakes.

“methinks” this idea fucking sucks ~ high school theatre au
characters: wilbur, schlatt, (next are only briefly shown) tommy, tubbo
trigger warnings: swearing
authors notes: HI THIS IS MY WRITING ALT THIS IS KRABMEAT BUTBUT HERES THE SECOND MINOR FIC PART FOR YOU @enigmaticvariation TO GO WITH THE DRAWING!!
@mcytblraufest THANKYOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL EVENT ILYSM THIS WAS SUCH A FUCKING BLASY AHHHHH TYSMMM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You wouldn’t be able to tell that Schlatt is in his sophomore year while Wilbur is in his junior year. Their personalities vastly different; Wilbur acting with the carefreeness of a younger student, contrary to Schlatt who seemed to carry a casual look of exhaustion and fatigue like the majority of the finals, SAT and ACT-stressed juniors. Wilbur being a flamboyant member of the theatre club, while Schlatt spends most of his time in the school's computer science room, occasionally doing backstage work for the theatre club's plays and musicals as a means to get extra credit.
That’s how the two know each other- not really through extravagant meetings, or trials and tribulations of growing their friendship to be the best of buddies, hell, they wouldn’t even consider each other friends! Or, Schlatt at least wouldn’t. Wilbur goes out of his way to make futile attempts to get Schlatt in the practice runs of the upcoming plays. Usually rejected requests. Usually.
“Wilbur, listen to yourself, buddy,” Schlatt quipped, “out of all the times I’ve rejected you- all the times I’ve rejected you with every SINGLE character you’ve asked me to act out for you- and you think that fucking JULIET is someone I’d even CONSIDER doing? Really, Wilbur? Really?”
Schlatt looks at Wilbur, deadpanning as he rubs the side of his face in frustration. Wilbur, however, has a mischievous grin on his face.
“Oh, come on Schlatt! Just ONE scene, please? Our Juliet is busy volunteering as a teacher's aid right now and we NEED to get this act down by next week! Please, man- just this once?” Wilbur pleaded, falling on the deaf ears of Schlatt, that of which was busy listening to the discrepancy of his reasoning.
“If you guys need to get the script down by next week then why do I have to help with the lines?! Shouldn’t you wait for your Juliet then if that’s the case?”
The bickering and debate went on for a good few minutes until Schlatt eventually caved after being offered a crisp 20 dollar bill from Wilbur. Out of the times the two have talked, Wilbur just so happened to pick up on Schlatts love for money as well as his lack of it. (He happened to apply at the same butcher shop Schlatt works at and saw the $5 an hour he was making. He didn’t get the job, by the way.)
“Farewell! I will omit no opportunity that may convey my greetings, love, to thee.” Wilbur holds his hand out musingly before dramatically clutching his heart, nodding his head solemnly to Schlatt. Schlatt grumbles at Wilbur, mumbling “right, and you just had to be fuckin Romeo, too…” before grabbing the script with a sloppy hand. His eyes look down at the small print, squinting while reading aloud.
“O think'st thou we shall ever meet again?” Schlatt's voice is monotone, voice inflections set to a minimum. He struggles with the pronunciation of “think’st”, redoing it a few times before finishing the sentence.
“I doubt it not; and all these woes shall serve for sweet discourses in our time to come.” His eyes flutter as he delivers his line, a sweet smile as he awaits for Schlatt to respond in- hopefully- an equally matched delivery this time.
“O God, I have an ill-divining soul! Methinks I see- oh come ON Wilbur! ‘Methinks’?! That is the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard, I'm not doing this!” Schlatt scolded, throwing his hands up in the air and squeezing the script in his hand. Wilbur sighs, slightly tired of having to convince him again, but nonetheless he persists.
“No, you have to! If not, I suppose I’ll just take back my 20 then? If you aren’t going to fulfill your part of the deal, of course!” In response, Schlatt can only groan in annoyance while muttering incomprehensible words under his breath. He smooths out his script and begrudgingly continues on with the act. Wilbur grins contently as he gets back into character.
Unbeknownst to the pair onstage, there seems to be two figures peering in from the outside of the theatre room. The taller blonde peeks his head in above the shorter brunette. They both squint.
“Oi, Tommy, isn’t that your brother Wilbur? What’s he doing with that guy? I’ve seen him in the computer science room before but I never caught his name,” Tubbo questions,
“Hey, your answers as good as mine, pal. He’s talked about him at home sometimes, that’s Schlatt. Don’t know why he’s made him be Juliet, though. Seems like he’d make a decent Capulet.”
Heyhey! I couldn’t find your rules, so idk if this is allowed or not, and if it isn’t feel free to ignore this, but may I request Childe with a reader who has depression? Thank you
tough
a/n: hi!! sorry for that, the rules are added by now, i chose not to describe depression itself, because it looks different on everyone, and you may not relate to what applies to me, but i'm hoping you'll find this enjoyable instead!!
plot: character helping the reader out of a breakdown, or a bad headspace
contains: tartaglia, kaeya
warnings: bad copying mechanisms, low mental place, nothing too serious mentioned
tartaglia
now, he's a man of action less than words, even though he's good with those, too
and to add to that, he's also a very perceptive person - if some negative vibe lingers on you for too long, he'll notice right away
however, relying on his experience, he opts to give you space to figure it out on your own, first, he wouldn't like to be making a huge deal of something that was just a worse couple of days
it's when you don't show up at your usual dinner spot, that he gets a little tingle in his brain, telling him to not dismiss it this time.
and so, he makes his way over to your place.
"ya there?" you hear on the other side of the door, followed by urgent knocking, sort of breaking you out of a trance, but you can't find it in you to go and answer it. he'll go away, you think, even better. your apartment is messy, you're messy, too, and it's not the right time to be receiving visitors. so you stay quiet.
"you do know i know you're in there, right?" he speaks up again "the blinds would be down if you weren't"
come in, you want to shout, and although no voice leaves your throat, soon the door opens anyway.
"hey, what's up, you weren't on the- oh." he stops in his tracks in the middle of the corridor, and you're already mentally prepared to a snarky remark about your sorroundings, but the only thing he says is a lighthearted "why're you sitting on the floor?"
the first thing he thinks about is to level with you, so he plops himself down right beside you, and you bet it looks funny - you in yesterday's clothes, in a big, probably smelly, mess, and then a harbinger in full military outfit right beside you.
"i-" you try to say, but your throat seems too dry and worn out, so you opt for a whisper "look at his place"
he indeed does, hinting the small note of desperation in your voice.
"what about it?"
"it's a mess!" you sigh, covering your face with your hands, out of both embarrassment, and fatigue. you take a big breath before continuing "so i wanted to clean it up, i even brought all the... all the things, but it's so much stuff to do, and i'm tired, and- and i don't know!" you choose to stop as not to snap right then and there. "i can't even do my shitty chores right like an adult" you mumble, massaging your temples.
"and is sitting on the floor helping?" he simply asks, and for a second, you're almost mad at him for not being more... cooey and fuss over you a bit more. he sounds cold.
"what are you-"
"really, is it helping?" he repeats "because from how i see it, every little thing would seem bigger if you looked at it from this angle. come on" he nudges you before standing up, and offering a hand to lift you up. you, however, shake your head.
"i really can't deal with it today, childe, i'm sorry"
"just stand up" he pleas, and the second you take his hand, he helps you up in less than a second. when you're on his level again, he sneaks both his arms on the sides of your waist, and sort of sways around a little, before speaking again. "what if, what if we do it little by little? look, we'll start over there" he puts his hand on top of yours, and lifts your arm to point to the full sink along with his. "and that'd be it for today! and then tomorrow... actually, let's not make plans. we'll just pick something tomorrow, and do it then. does the sink sound like a lot to do?" he asks.
"do you want me to be honest, or do you want me to say no" you mutter, earning the heartiest and brightest laughter you've heard in days from him.
"always honest. but come on, i'll help." he rolls you out of his embrace, causing you to feel a sudden wave of cold, it was comfortable back there, you think.
however, as he works through the dishes with you, the pile does seem to lessen, and doesn't rule over your kitchen anymore. every time he hands you a plate to dry, he smiles as wide as he can, and it doesn't seem to bother him at all when you don't smile back.
"remember" he starts again, after a while of comfortable silence. he looks ridiculous, doing the kitchen duties in an outfit designed mostly to look presentable and slay enemies in it, but the look on his face is dead set. "the first lesson you've gotta learn before going off to battle something, is that the best defense is always, always to fight back. and if you don't think you can manage that, well, that's why nobody ever battles alone. it's common sense to have someone watching your back. and as for you, not only are you a great warrior yourself, but you've also got the best second-in-command willing to help you out. don't forget that."
kaeya
as for him, he's also perceptive and empathic, but the difference between him and tartaglia is that he does believe people have the right to figure some things out on their own, he's a firm believer in the magic of secrets
that's probably because he himself doesn't like to share too much about his deeply personal feelings
so he'd obviously see some wave of difficult emotions coming your way, but would he immediately start worrying? probably not
the guy doesn't have healthy copying mechanisms himself, don't think he expects those of others
every other night the two of you meet up at the tavern, kaeya always ordering wine, you asking the bartender for whatever was in store today, but it's never anything alcoholic.
and just like nearly always, you're seated at angel's share, him noticing you're not particularly in the mood for talking, and choosing to entertain you with as many stories of the day that went by as he can remember.
the waiter interrupts him, asking if your minds are already made up regarding the drink. now, kaeya always has you picking first, but since he sees you're still analyzing the card (as if you expected to find anything new), he goes first with a drink he knows charles makes really strong.
to his surprise, when it comes to you, you just mumble "i'll have the same he had"
before the waiter has a chance of writing that down, kaeya tells him that actually, you're gonna need a minute or two more, and to erase the order you've both put in.
as he walks away, the calvary captain's eyes pierce through yours.
"that's a pretty nasty drink you wanted there" he starts, feeling he can't let you handle your mess this time, preparing to dig a little deeper into what's on your mind.
you shrug your shoulders.
"hey" he speaks up a little firmer, hand moving to cover yours, and even though they twitch as to retreat from his grip, you let it be. "tell me what's up."
"nothing's <up>" you accentuate. "can't i even have a drink now?"
"obviously you can" he nods "as long as i know you're trying it just for the taste, and not for the strong kick it's gonna offer, cause that's a dangerous path that only leads to nasty places." concern shines through his gaze, and an encouraging smile is wandering somewhere in his expression, however his lips are still pressed into a tight line, the same he forms when he's either fighting or arguing.
you stay silent for a good long while, before sighing.
"maybe i want the kick. good, or bad, maybe i want to feel... something."
the sentence sounds all too familiar, as he shakes his head and takes your hand, leading you towards the exit.
"what're you-"
"you're obviously not in the right state to be in a bar, of all places" he states almost coldly "so i'm getting you somewhere safer."
the two of you leave the bar, and walk out into the cold of mondstadt's street, covered in the darkness of the night. you walk past him, not leveling up to him, just tagging along to whatever he's going.
it comes as a surprise, that you're neither headed for your apartment, nor his, nor the knights' headquarters. he's guiding you in an unknown direction, until you reach a dead end.
he clims up a small building, offering you a hand and shaking off your confused expressions and questions. "you'll see" he says. the two of you walk from roof to roof, and countless times you tell him it's ridiculous, but then, he jumps onto the city's wall, helping you out with two hands this time, sitting you down right next to him on the stone surface of the wall. it's a little wet from the night's humidity, and cold, and probably dirty too, but the moon shines right at you, and from this perspective, you see thousands of lights in houses, taverns and shops, from the bottom up to the cathedral.
going up from that, a calm and peaceful lake paints the landscape blue on the left, and even from up here, you see a sea of lampgrasses shining through the leaves of wolvendom forest. if you squint, lights are still on in dawn winery, and the path to liyue and all the other lands swirls around near diluc's house. there's so much you can see, even if the night limits your vision.
"i like to come here when i need to gain some perspective over what is happening in my life right now" kaeya speaks really softly and quietly, bordering on a whisper. "it's a beautiful view, even someone as insensitive to art as i am can see that, but other than that... it's huge. and even though it is, it's also alive. every single one of those beings whose lights are dying out as they slowly go to sleep one by one, they're alive. they're not a scenery, they're their own, individual worlds. and they all coexist with each other in such a clever manner, don't you think? they have their differences, they might even hate each other, or wish the worst upon the other's name, but from up here? they fit together like puzzles of one, big picture."
"that's a nice way to put it, for sure" you whisper, looking down onto your knees. his finger pushes your chin slightly to make you face him, and he smiles at you gently, thumb brushing against the skin of your cheek.
"you know, we each have our own worlds, built from scratch from such fragile materials. we have our worlds rise, shine, and crumble before our sights. we look over the ruins of them and think, this is the end of the world. there's nothing more, it's all dust now. but from up here, you see how many other worlds there are - everyone has their own. not everything that is happening in your world is true. you see it from first person's perspective, and therefore the view might be disturbed by many different aspects. you might not see the picture, you just see the broken puzzle fragment that can't fit with the rest, and you're ready to throw away the entire picture, without finishing it. but being here, it reminds me... the world doesn't end on the ruins you see. you can always ask someone to help you build them up again, and of course, you can expect it to fall into pieces once more, but this time, you'll keep in mind, there're-" he stopped, pointing to the city's lights. "so many people to help you raise it up to the clouds."
"your metaphor is really complex" you chuckle, but his face stays still.
"it's not the end of the world if your puzzle piece is broken. and the ruins are not unfixable if you feel too tired to build them up all by yourself. if anything, that's a start." his hand travels up to keep the hair from getting on your face, since the wind blows pretty hard on this height. "what do you say we start your puzzle once more, toghether?"
You throw your head back in frustration as you contemplate giving up feeding the kid. You had been trying to feed him vegetables for the past week. Every time you wanted to feed him some smashed peas with a spoon, he would use the force to push it into your mouth. You lift your head as you take a deep breath, ready to try again when Din walks in and throws jerky on the table for the kid. You look at Din in disbelief before getting up to clean the mess while you let the kid eat.
“I’ll be back in a few; this shouldn’t take long,” Din announced as he stood in place, scanning the room for his blaster.
“You missing something,” you asked, hopping on one of the crates looking over at him with a mischievous smile
“Give it,” he grumbled out, walking up to you holding his hand out
“Give what,” you questioned as you tilted your head. “Give this,” you smiled, pulling out his blaster.
Din tried to reach for it as you pulled back “nope, let’s make a deal.”
“I don’t have time for games, cyar’ika,” he replied trying to convince you to give it up.
“Then let’s not play any. I’ll give you your blaster if you quit giving the kid what he wants when I’m trying to give him a balanced diet, ok.”
“Ok,” he agrees to take the blaster from your hand.
“Also, you don’t have to rush back for lunch; just make sure you are here for dinner” he gave you a nod in response as he fished, packing up his things.
You pick the kid up and dust him over, carrying him over to Din so he could say bye. Din looked down at his son and ruffled his head before looking at you. He bent down, placing his cold beskar helmet against your head. He didn’t need to say anything you already knew and vise versa. Din straightened up and walked towards the ramp before typing in buttons and letting it down.
As Din was walking away, he stopped to remind you for the millionth time, “cyar’ika, don’t leave the ship, this is one of the most dangerous plants and-“
“I know you’ve told me all this before. I won’t leave me. The kid and I are going to chill here and watch cartoons or something,” you told him, interrupting his repetitive speech.
He stood there hesitantly, debating in his head before choosing to just walk down the ramp and away. You guys never did that stop and turn around things you’ve seen in movies; there was no need to. He was always going to come back; he had promised you.
As soon as the Din was far away enough, you closed the ramp and started getting ready to leave. Dins birthday is coming up, and you’re trying to make him a chocolate cake. In one of your late-night pillow talks, you asked Din what he remembers from his childhood before the Mandalorian, he replies that he doesn’t remember a lot. What he does remember is how every year, for his birthday, his mom would make him a chocolate cake. It was the best thing he has ever eaten in his life, well, the second-best thing he adds a few seconds later.
Since then, you have been collecting all the ingredients you need to make the cake over the next couple of weeks. You have everything but cocoa powder, the most crucial ingredient. You’ve looked everywhere, every plant, every website you couldn’t find it anywhere else but this plant.
You don’t want to go against what Din has asked you, especially because you said you wouldn’t. Still, you just wanted to do something special for him, for his birthday, because he deserved it. After all, he had done for you, you wanted to do something for him even if others might consider it a little thing you knew it would mean a lot to Din.
 For example a few months ago, you tried to make sure Din started enjoying his meals more and eating meals more frequently. You did this by eating together like a clan Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner. You and Din sit next to each other at the small table you had built together, the kid in his high chair. Din had to adjust to it but never complained. He even started to look forward to it, rushing back to the ship sometimes after a bounty to make it in time for lunch or dinner.
You smiled, thinking fondly of the memories you’ve created with your clan over the past months as you started getting ready to leave. As you’re finishing up and was about to leave, you activate the droid; you have to watch the kid. This droid you had found in a past mission but never had a reason to fix it until now. You had been working on it the ship during flight and while Din was away on hunts.
When Din had asked you about the droid, you said you were programming the IG-11 to help clean around the ship. Din had been uncertain because of its killing background but ended up letting it go. You had lied though, you had kept the Droids programming and just added few changes to it. The changes were that when you left, its mission was to protect the child and take care of all its needs. It was to kill anyone or thing that came onto the ship unless it was you, Din, or the kid.
The little white lie was never a problem either because you only activated the droid when you and Din were out to watch the kid, and you always made sure to come back to the ship before Din to deactivate it, plus Din never questioned why he’d never seen the droid in “action.”
You set out to the local market nearby, where you were hoping to find the last ingredient so you could make the cake. Since you started a little late today and this is one of the most dangerous plants in the galaxy, you walked a bit faster than usual. The quicker you walked, the more excited you got. You were about to be done getting all the supplies to make the cake, just in time, because Dins birthday was in a couple of weeks. As you neared the market, you prayed to Maker that the thing you’re risking your life over was going to be here. You were incredibly proud of yourself for keeping this a secret from Din without him suspecting a thing.
***********
Din had tracked his bounty to a bar nearby; as he neared the bar, he could hear the noise of people inside. As soon as he stepped foot into the bar, it went silent, some people shaking in fear, others puffing their chest out and rising onto the balls of their feet slightly. Din looked around the bar; it wasn’t a bad bar. It just wasn’t the nicest.
The same color brown wood was throughout, green bar stools, plastic lawns chairs, mice having a party in every corner. Also, the floor was sticky; he could feel it with every step he took, he would have to use a little more effort than usual to lift his foot up, and you could hear it in every step. Din hadn’t spotted his bounty during his initial scan of the room, so he turned to the bartender to ask if he had seen the bounty. The bartender wasted no time and pointed to the backroom as he kept his head down. Din reaches the backroom and sees a smaller room same design and layout as the front with four men playing poker and three bodyguards. Dins usually not a man of words, but he doesn’t really feel like fighting today, so he tells them, “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. The choice is yours.”
 One guard rushes towards Din and tries to grab him, but Din is quicker; he pulls a blaster and shoots a bodyguard in the chest. He starts getting attacked by two of the bodyguards but takes them out with ease. After the last bodyguard fell to the floor, he heard footsteps pounding against the floor, then pressure is applied to his back, one of the poker players had jumped on him. Din falls backward, crushing the person underneath him; he then quickly rolls over, props himself on one knee, and pulls his blaster to shoot the guy. Din then whips his gun around to the other side of the room to find two people standing there shaking with their hands up, neither of them his bounty. Din snaps his head in the direction of the door he came in as he hears the bell ring that’s placed above the door. He pushes himself off the ground and starts chasing after the man.
*************
You had to go to three different vendors in the market, but you finally found the cocoa powder you were looking for, the lady dared to charge you three times its worth, but you didn’t care anything for Din. You had to wander deep into the market to find the cocoa, so on your way out, you were doing a slight jog. You had hoped you were making good time and would make it back in time, but you had no way of knowing for sure.
***************
Din is chasing after the guy, and he’s so close the guy knows this too. The bounty suddenly stops in the middle of a crowd; he pulls out a blaster and waves it. Sounds of shock and fear echoed threw out the public. Din steps forward to get the guy he needs alive; the man suddenly looks around frantically, pulls the closest person to him, and puts a gun to their head. It was you. The bounty had put the gun to your head. Din’s mind blanks. He has no other thoughts besides getting to you; he doesn’t care if the bounty is for him brought in cold. The bounty had touched what’s his.
Din quickly pulls his blaster ready to fire when suddenly you pull forward, folding over as you push down on your toes; you then spring up, moving your head back to strike the man’s head. The man then stumbles backward from the sudden impact. Din is quick to act as he runs towards the man and then shoots the man in his arm, the man falls to the ground, and Din proceeds to lift the man up and place him in handcuffs.
Din turns towards you to scan your body as he looks for any injuries. His beskar covered face then looks up towards you as he asks, “hurt,” and you proceed to shake your head no. Before you can ask if he’s hurt, he grabs your arm and pushes you in front of him, signaling to walk. You do walk as he follows, dragging the bounty behind him.
The journey back to the ship was quiet, too quiet even the bounty tried to speak on the tensions, “struggle in paradise, eh.”
Din pressed his finger into his wound for that one.
You’d been so distracted by the event that happened you had forgotten about the droid, but it was too late. Din had already typed in the code, and the ramp was coming down.
This was the first time, the one time Din wasn’t the faster person in the room; by the time Din pulled his blaster out, it was too late. It all happened in a blink of an eye. The bounty was dead. The droid shot him.
You were nervous, it’s not like you were in desperate need of the credits, but the money could have help, and you know Din just went through a lot to get him.
“The child is safe, would you li-“IG-11 started before Din shot him. You were about to complain, but then you remember the situation you were in.
You stood in silence for a couple of minutes before deciding to look at Din only to find him staring at you. You turned your head away so quick that pain in your neck started to arise. “Din I-I-I’m so so sorry this is all my fault, I’ll take the blame, ok. Just tell Greef Karga, ok. Can he be brought in dead? I mean, it’s not a big deal, y-y-you’ve done it before. Greef Karga will s-still a-a-a-accept it right …. RIGHT!”
Din didn’t utter a word as he dragged the body onto the ship; he put the body into carbon freeze and closed the ramp. Then he just stood there. He didn’t move an inch. The tension in the air was so thick, you could even breathe properly. You knew this was your time to leave him alone. Earlier, you had noticed that the kid wasn’t in IG-11s arms, so you were planning on looking for him, assuming that he had been put to sleep because this was around his nap time.
“Ok, so I see that you need alone time; I’m just going to find the kid and take care of him,” you said as you turned to go look for him.
You didn’t even get to do a complete 180 before Din grabbed onto your wrist and twisted it, pulling your body closer to him. You could hear the hard deep breaths he was taking as he stared right into your soul.
“Why,” he whispered out, hurt invoice.
 “I-I-I,” you tried to speak, your eyes moving back and forth as you tried to find his.
“Why would you be so stupid? I told you not to leave, I told you this place was dangerous. You didn’t listen, why can’t you ever just listen.” He snapped at you, saying every word with a tremble. He let you go and started to walk away from dragging his feet across the floor.
“I’m sorry,” you choked out, your eyes watering up, tears threatening to fall.
 Your words had made him stop dead in his tracks. “Are you” he questions as he walks towards you. Each step he took towards you, you took one back till your back hit the wall. You were nervous but weren’t afraid, you knew Din would never hurt you, but you still didn’t like to be around him when he got like this.
“WHAT WAS SO IMPORTANT THAT YOU RISKED YOUR LIFE FOR? DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND THAT YOU COULD HAVE DIED TODAY? DO YOU EVEN CARE?”
You did understand how sideways things could have gone, and you were trying to tell him that, but the words kept getting caught in your throat. So you ended up just slowly shaking your head in agreement.
“Are you sure cause you don’t seem like it? What about that FUCKING droid? You lied to me; why would you do that? You already know how I feel about them, so why would you do that. And to leave THE KID with it. I hope whatever you got was worth it. Just do what I brought you here for and watch the child,” he growled out as he walked away towards the cockpit so he could set our next coordinates.
You stood there for a second shook but started to move to find the kid after the ship took off. He was in your old room, which you and Din turned into a toddler’s room after you moved into his. You picked the kid up and sat down in a rocking chair. You hugged the kid close to you as tears fell down your cheek. You were angry. Din had no right to talk to you like that. You messed up, you understand that, but to yell at you like he did have. Plus, you had risked your life for something for him. It doesn’t matter that he didn’t know it; he should know you better than to just assume that you would have intentionally risked your life for something stupid.
***********
 Din sat in his chair in the cockpit, feeling the weight of guilt immediately; the weight of his beskar couldn’t even compare to how heavy this felt. He felt awful; he regretted every word that came out of his mouth. He was just so angry; he had almost lost the only person he has ever cared about since his parents besides the kid. That was no excuse; he has had his fair share of screw-ups, the number of times he has almost gotten killed was too many to try to count on both hands.
 He took his helmet off and put his hands in his head. He was stressed after all the events that happened today, but he was most worried about what had just happened in the bay. He deliberated on going down there and apologizing to you but ultimately decided to give you your space and apologize later today.
Din was going to apologize, he swore on Maker, but later that day, when he found you so he could apologize, you were sleeping in your old room. He was tempted to move you to the room you shared but then decide against it knowing you had fallen asleep in your old room for a reason. He slept in the cockpit that night; it didn’t feel right without you next to him. It’s funny Din spent most of his life alone; now he doesn’t even know how to sleep alone.
The next day Din did honestly try to apologize to you, but every time he entered the same room as you were in, you got up and left. Din understood that you probably need space after the fourth time stepping into the same room as you and you walking out. Din decided that you probably needed one more day.
The next day came, and you still were leaving every room he came into. He was sad; he missed the family dinners and lunches, he couldn’t wait any longer, he decided to apologize to you as soon as possible.
Din stepped into the kitchen area around lunchtime; he knew you were cooking something that requires your full attention, so he knew you wouldn’t step away.
“I’m-I’m sorry, I should have never yelled at you like that. I was angry because the bounty tried to run and then held you at gunpoint, he was touching what was mine, and I-I-I took it out on you. I should have never taken it out on you; I’m sure whatever you went out for was well worth it. I’m sorry, cyar’ika, ni kar’tayl gar darasuum.”
Din waited there for something, anything, you didn’t say a single word. You instead finished up your cooking, turned the stove off, and proceeded to fix you and the child a plate before heading off to the cockpit to eat.
Din stood there in shock; this is not how things usually go after an argument. Din stood there for a few minutes as he contemplated what to do next. Maybe he had said it wrong, he thought; Din hadn’t apologized a lot in his life, he could count how many times on one hand, and all those times he had been with you. All those times, you had also accepted it, so Din shook his head of the thought that he had said it wrong. He decided to give you another day to think about accepting his apology.
***********
A day turned into two, then three, next things Din knew, three weeks had passed. It had been complete silence for three whole weeks. Din was dying inside. He barely ate or slept; he missed you, everything about you, even things that seemed stupid. He missed the way your hair smelled, he missed the warmth of your body as he slept next to you, he missed your smile. Din has never been before addicted to something, but he will bet this is what it feels like to go through withdrawal.
He craved you mentally and physically; he had started waking up this past week on the verge of a nut. He always had the same dream to, he would apologize and you would accept. Then he would worship your body like never before, discovering new things about you, what turns you on and how flexible you really are. Each and every time right before he would nut, right when you give him permission to cum inside, he wakes up, every time like clockwork.
*************
It was around lunchtime, and Din sat in the kitchen debating his next move. He needed you. He missed the way you guys used to be as a clan; just him and the kid alone wasn’t the same. He looked up and saw you putting the kid in a high chair and turning to the fridge, taking stuff out to make sandwiches. He laid back, watching you move around the kitchen. You had one of his shirts on with some shorts that you couldn’t see unless you reached up to get something that made your shirt rise.
He watched as you bent over getting something out of the fridge, his dick twitched in his pants. He had been so deprived of you that anything you did got him hard; he grunted as he started to palm himself over his pants.
You had heard Din behind you, you smiled to yourself, you knew he was dying inside, you’d heard it every morning when he was rubbing one out. You honestly had stopped being mad like a week and a half ago. You just wanted to see how long Din could stay away from you; you really wanted to see how long till you had Din Djarin on his knees.
You finished cooking and made some food for the kid and you, but instead of going up to the cockpit like you usually do, you ate in the kitchen. You decided to stand up to eat, leaning over the counter, back facing Din. You moaned with every bite you took, doing a little happy dance.
You had unknowingly confirmed to Din that you were no longer upset and were playing. He had suspected it but wasn’t sure; you would do things like get changed with the door open or take a shower with the door open. He saw those things and thought that you were ready to talk, but when he tried, you walked away. He had assumed that you weren’t ready and wasn’t doing those things on purpose. He knew now, though, that you were playing some type of game, a game he was about to end.
You had finished eating and looked up to find the kid sleep in his chair. You took the kid and put him in his room so he could sleep in peace. You came back to the kitchen to clean up; you felt Din’s eyes on you everywhere you went. You walked over to the crates to put some things from the kitchen up, passing Din as you went. You had felt him before you saw him, his back pressed up against you. You could feel the heat radiating off his clothed body as he pressed up against you. You leaned in for a second before realizing what you were doing. You turned around, trying to leave, but Din stood in your way. You had no other choice but to look up at him and go along with whatever he was trying to do.
“What do you want, Din,” you asked
“I was going to say I was sorry.”
“Well, apology not accepted,” you said quickly, cutting him off before he said another word.
“See cyar’ika keyword, was, “he replied looking at you with his brown eyes
“So what do you want now, Din,” you asked as you walked backward, eventually running out of space as your back hit the wall. You swallowed the lump in your throat and asked him again what he wanted.
He didn’t reply; instead, he reached up and took a finger drawing it from your collar bone to your chest; you shivered as he stared circling your covered nipple before pinching it.
“You,” he said
 “What”
 “You had asked me what I wanted now, and my answer is you,” he replied.
You were about to question it when he brought his finger up to your lips to quiet you before bringing his hand down and up your shirt to play with your breast. He made a low groan in his throat when he realized that you weren’t wearing your band wrap.
“At first, I was mad that you had put yourself in danger. Then I was a little sad when you started dodging me; it really hurt when you didn’t respond to my apology,” he chuckled. You could hear the smirk in his voice. He lifted up your shirt up over your head. He placed his hands back on your breast and then pinched one of your nipples, making your head fall back as you moaned out loud.
“Then you started playing games with me, messing my head all up. To blame you for playing this game would be wrong of me,” he said as he left you boobs, and his hand traveled up to wrap around your throat. Your body leaned into his touch, your hand reaching out to wrap around his wrist that was at your throat.
His hand squeezed your throat tighter at your silent request as he pushed you back, bringing his head down to bite along your collars before mumbling against your skin, “I realized that it’s not your fault, I should have taught you better, and I will” he said and then quickly pulled away and grabbed a chair to sit down.
“What,” you asked, eyes popping out head. You were confused, but it was too late; Din had already pulled you over his lap. He had pulled down your shorts; he was excited to see that you were wearing a thong, so he left your underwear in place.
“Din, what are you doing?” you questioned as you shifted around on his lap, trying to get a better look at him.
“If you’re going to act like a little brat, then I’m going to treat you like a little brat,” he said as he processed to take his gloves off.
“I will give you an equal amount of slaps on each cheek, and you will count each one out, ok, and safe word is cake, ok, “He asked as he messaged each cheek.
You shook your head as consent, “I need to hear a yes cyar’ika,” he said, giving you a little tap on your right cheek.
You yelped, surprised by the slight sting that followed that slap, and wondered how on Tatooine you were going to endure more, mainly because you and Din have never done something like this before. A slap or two while he hit it from behind, was the closest thing that had ever happened.
“Yes,” you were excited, you’d never seen this side of Din; you might even start messing with Din more often.
Din was smiling; he always loved to try new things with you. He continued to run over each cheek for a few more seconds before he raised his hand and landed the first smack on your right cheek.
“One” You choked out as he rubbed the cheek he just slapped.
It was hard, and it stung, but there was something about it that turned you on.
Din lifted up his hand before smack the left cheek “two,” you tried to suppress your moan. You were kinda embraced at the fact you were getting turned on from this.
When Dins hand landed on your right cheek again for the second time, you moaned loudly as you said the number three. Din smiled at that; he was happy you were enjoying this new thing. Din continued to tear your ass up, each slap hurting more than the last. You were getting wetter with each one to the point where your wetness started to drip down your leg, your underwear no longer keeping it in as it was soaked.
You were preparing to feel a sting on your left cheek for the last slap. Instead, Din pushed you off his lap and set you onto the floor. You laid there confused as he spread your legs open and took your thong off. He got on the side of you and leaned down to kiss you. Your lips captured his in a passionate kiss. You were distracted as Din slipped his tongue into your mouth, so you didn’t see it coming. He had raised his hand and slapped your pussy. You throw your head back as you moan, tears streaming down your face from the intensity of the sudden, overwhelming rush of pleasure.
You shot up before going back down as you raised your hip as he started to rub circles on your clit. He reached down, placing kisses along your neck up and down your neck to your collarbone and back up. He took your ear lobe and brought it into his mouth, pulling on it before letting it go.
These slow circles on your clit were killing you, “Please,” you whimpered as you reached down, placing your hand on top of him, encouraging him to go faster.
He slapped your hand aways, stopping because of you. He rubbed his nose up and down on your ear before asking.
“are you going to be a good girl for me?”
You shook your head up and down, unable to speak as he started playing with your clit again. You didn’t realize that this game you were playing had affected you too till now. You were so desperate; you would do anything he asked just so you could cum on him because of him.
 He took his hand away from cunt and brought it up to your lips. You looked Din in the eyes as you took two of his fingers into his mouth and sucked on them. You closed your eyes as you moaned, tasting yourself on his fingers. You weaved your tongue around his fingers before you hollow your cheeks, making a popping sound when he pulled them out.
He ran his finger down your body before shoving two fingers inside of you. You moved your hips down to meet the thrust of his hand. Your legs threaten to close as the pleasure builds, nonsense mumbling falling from your lips.
“More,” you begged
“Faster,” you cried as he gave in to both of your demands.
Suddenly he stopped, and your whines of complaint soon turned into a moan as he pressed his tongue against your clit. He shifted so he could wrap his hands around your thighs as he dove in. It was still the best thing he has ever tasted, he thought to himself. Your back arches as he bites softly on your clit before he sucks on it, and he pushes two fingers into you. You reached down your finger through Din’s hair, causing him to moan into you to moan as you clench around him. Din loves feeling the way your body reacts to him, the way you gripped his fingers, his tongue, his dick.
You were close. You can feel it, and so could Din, so he quickened his pace.
“I’m- I’m. “You tried to speak be couldn’t
“I know,” he said, moving his thumb to circle your clit
You were so close, you could feel it in your stomach. You were about to cum when Din pulled his fingers out and started to lick them clean.
You let a puff of air out as you lose your high. You prop yourself on your elbows as you looked at him, throwing your hands up asking why.
“I just wanted you to see how it feels to work so hard for something only to have it taken from you at the last minute.” He said, standing up but never breaking eye contact with you. You choked on your spit when you realized what he was referring to.
You tried to stand up, but he placed a hand on your shoulder, pushing you back down into your knees. You cocked your head to the side, and he just reached down and took your hand, placing it on top of his pants.
You looked up at him licking your lips before unbuttoning his pants and pulling down his zipper; you pushed his pants down along with his boxers down. You spit into your hand before wrapping your hand around his dick as much as you could. You stroked him before sticking your tongue out and licking the tip, then running your tongue up and down his shaft.
He grabbed you by your hair, yanking you back to look up at him. “Don’t play with me,” he said before taking his hand and wrapping it around your jaw to keep it open as he spits in it.
He let you go, and you stroked him a few times before taking him into your mouth. You moaned around him at the taste of him; this caused Din to lose his balance for a second, making him grab onto a crate to balance himself.
You swirled your tongue around his head before going back and forth, taking more of him in each time, you pulled back off of him, but strings of spit still connecting you to him. You purse your lips as you spit into your hand, reaching down to massage his balls before taking him back into your mouth, making sure to lick the pre-cum as you did.
He reached behind your head to grab your hair as he thrust into your mouth, you gag on his dick, but he keeps going knowing that you will tap against his leg if it gets to be too much. Din grabbed on to your head with both hands as he continued to fuck your face; you could feel him inching down your throat with each thrust. He was about to nut; you could feel it as his balls started to tighten. He griped your hair tighter, signaling for you to look at him. “Where,” he asked, slowing down so you could choose.
He let go of your hair as you pulled back, sticking your tongue out. He smiled down out at you before taping his tip against your tongue a few times as he started to stroke his dick. He quickens his paces and grabs onto your head, pulling it tight, so he won’t miss his target. Din grunted as if he was in pain as he painted your face with white streaks. He rubs his dick smearing the last bit on your tongue. You swallowed the bit in your mouth before feeling around your face the rest and swooping it into your mouth. You licked your lips, smiling up at him when you were all done.
He bent down and swiped his thumb across your cheek, getting the little you had left behind into your mouth. You sucked on it for a second before he pulled it out. He grabbed onto your hand, helping you up as his hands cradled your face, and he pressed his lips to yours; he moaned into your mouth at the taste of him. He reaches down to grab your ass before smacking up light and kneading it as you wrap your arms around his neck.
He pulls back, breaking the kiss as he taps your side, signaling for you to jump up so he could carry you. You jump into his arms, and he takes you into the room you shared and lay you against the cot. You lay there waiting for him as he finishes getting undressed.
He got onto the cot and got between your legs; he stroked himself a few times before lining it up with you. He looked up to meet your eyes looking for consent, and you nodded your head, giving it to him. He slowly pushed into you feeling your walls stretch around him before tightening. Your head falls back as your eyes rolled into the back of your head. You grab onto the sheets, bunching them into your hands as you feel yourself being starched to your limit. You take your legs and wrap them around Din’s waist. You cross your ankles as you try to push him into you to make him go faster.  He stops suddenly, he’s not even all the way in, and he stops. You’re starting to regret trying to make him go faster, you can’t see much, but you can see him smiling. You know that smile, nothing good is about to come out of that smile.
Din pulls all the way out before slamming back into you completely. You didn’t even make a sound because the air is knocked out of you; your back arches as you try to catch your breath. As soon as you caught your breath, he steals it as he leans down for a kiss capturing your lips roughly.
As he continuously pounds into you ruthfully, he takes one of your legs wrapped around his waist and pushes it to your chest to get a better angle to go deeper. You cry out with every thrust, your voice bouncing off the walls, echoing in the room.
“Mine, This body, theses tits, this tight as pussy, it’s all mine,” he told you as he takes one of your nipples into his mouth.
“It’s yours; every part of me is yours,” you agreed as you wrapped your arms around his neck, bringing him in closers.
You were close, especially after being denied earlier; you need release. Din quicken his paces as he felt you clench tightly around him.
“I-I-I’m close,” you screamed out.
“Cum for me, riduur,” he whispers in your ear.
The name he calls you pushes you over the edge; you clamp down on his dick as you cum. That doesn’t slow him down as he continues for a few strokes riding out you high before pulling out, flipping you onto your stomach, and pushing back into you without warning or rest. You back arch into his thrust as he makes your legs go apart, spreading you wider. He pops onto one knee, driving into you mercilessly as he reaches down to press your face into the mat.
As he’s thrusting into you, you feel one of his fingers circle around your unstretched hole; you guys had been saving that experience, maybe for this moment. “Can I please? I’ll only put a finger in,” he begged you you nodding your head under his hand. He acknowledges the movement as he pulls out, reaching down swooping up some of your wetness before plunging back into you. He teases the hole before slowly pushing his thumb in, causing you to arch your back even more and let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding. “ f-f-fuck, Din” you stutter out when he got fully in.
Din quickens his pace in you as he sets a steady pace with his thumb. This was new to you, so being stretched like this, you were close to began for more; you wanted to know how it would feel to be pushed to your limit in both holes. You decided against it as you feel Din reach under you to toy with your clit, you chocked on your spit as you tried to catch your breath, all this pleasure was becoming too much for you to handle, you couldn’t even seem to catch your breath.
The pressure builds up in your stomach once again as you feel your peak near. You let sob into the mattress as you feel yourself clench around Din like never before as you cum. Your back arching to the point of pain, which only adds to your pleasure. You feel Din slow down; at first, you are confused about what he’s doing, but then you realized he’s watching how well you take him. He’s looking at how your pussy quivers around him with every stroke. He then speeds up for a second, loving the sound of skin slapping and the gushing sound your pussy makes as your wetness flows out of you staining your sheets.
Din chuckles before pulling you up by your hair, pressing your back to his chest, as he starts to thrust into you. Your body naturally arching into him as he reaches up and cups your right breast, moving his other hand down as he rubs vicious circles on your clit. Your tried body slumping against him as he takes you from behind. He knows you’re tired even if the grip you have on his dick says; otherwise, he stills know. He leans down into your ear, telling you, “you have one more in you, I know do.”
You reach up to take his hand from your breast to wrap it around your throat; you gave his hand an extra squeeze encouraging him. You get that familiar feeling in your stomach as he continues to pound into you with one hand wrapped around your throat and the other one rubbing circles on your clit. You whimper as you try to tell Din you close, but your body is too tired to even conjure up the words. Din understood you though, he was close, not far behind you. He knew that the feeling of you coming around him would do him.
You throw your head back against Din’s shoulders as you felt yourself unravel on him. Din places a hand on the wall as he losing his balance the feeling of your tighten around him as you milk him dry, he continues to pump into you, riding out of yours. Din pulls out, turning you onto your back, laying you down before opening your legs and settling himself between them. He pulled back for a second because you had winced in pain, his dick had rubbed against your extremely sensitive mound; he pulled back, readjusting his self before laying back down. He played comfortably in your arms, his head in the crook of your neck as he rubbed circles in your side while you laid there with your arms wrapped him.
Din lifts his head up and leans down to capture your lips in a sloppy but passionate kiss that held a lot of emotion behind it. You pull away, and he pushes his head into the crook of your neck, and you reach up and run your fingers through his loose curly.
“I’m sorry about everything I said, it was wrong, and I was out of line.” He said but face still in your shoulder
“It’s ok. I should have been more careful when I went out; I didn’t even bring a blaster with me,” you replied as you continued to massage his scalp.
“What did you get from the market.”
“It’s a surprise.”
“I hate surprises. Do you not remember the droid.” He asked
“Hey, at least we know it effective,” you said laughing, but Din wasn’t
“Too soon,” you asked, but you knew it wasn’t as you felt Din smile against your skin. You guys fell asleep just like, you holding him in your arms.
********
The next day went by so smoothly; you guys were back to the daily routine like nothing happened. Din was excited to get back to the meal sharing, he didn’t say it, but he didn’t have to. You guys had eaten breakfast together but had your lunches separate because you each had your own projects to do. Which is what you told Din, but you had actually needed the rest of the day to set up everything for his birthday dinner and make the cake.
You weren’t even sure if Din knew today was his birthday, but even if that’s true, it will make for a better surprise.
Din was coming down soon; he just had to set new coordinates. You guys needed to come out of hyperspace to get gas before continuing on your journey to the next plant where the next bounty is at, which is two days away.
During one of your trips to the market, you found a pretty little black dress; you were so excited to wear it for his birthday. You don’t even remember the last time you were in a dress, and you knew Din had never seen you with one, so it would be like icing on top of the cake.
 You heard footsteps above you move, and you were quick to act as you turned around, lit the candles on the cake, and flipped the light switch.
You heard Din slide down the step and walked towards you; your back was still turned to him, and it was dark, but something was illuminating your face; he just didn’t know what. He reached over to the wall next to him and flipped the light switch on. He turns and sees the kid in his high chair next to you.
“cyar’ika,” He asked, stepping closer to you.
 You then turn around slowly, not wanting to make the candles go out. As soon as Din sees your face, he gives you a small smile, but it drops when he sees what’s in your hand. You were nervous for a second, thinking that you had crossed a line or something. Then you saw a single tear roll down Din’s face; you had never seen the man cry. You had been with him for close to a year and never have seen this.
You set the cake down and quickly went over to him, embracing him in a hug. He hugged you back so tightly as if he was going to lose you.
“Ni kar’tayl gar darasuum, ner Ridder,” he said, but you only recognized one of the words used.
You reached up and wiped his tears and took his hand and led him over to the cake, Din looked at you before bending down to give you a quick kiss, and he straight up, closing his eyes for a second before bending down and blowing out his candles. You clapped your hands in enjoyment and excitement and reached over to pull in your face for a quick kiss. You heard a slight noise, and you pulled back and turned to see the kid clapping also.
You laughed at that before reaching over and grabbing a knife so Din could cut his cake. Din happily took the knife from you as he cut himself a pretty big piece of cake; he took a fork and a huge bite. Din moaned as he took his first bite, slowly chewing on the chocolate fudge cake with chocolate frosting. His tongue dashes out to lick up any residue that he might have left on his lips.
“I might have to change my mind. This might be the best thing I have ever tasted,” Din said, bringing down the fork for another bite.
You faked gasped, “what does that make me second.”
“You know what? I think I need a refresher, especially with you in that little black dress,” I said, licking his lip, and he wrapped an arm around your waist.
“Later, the kid and I are hungry; it’s time to eat,” you said as you shoved him off of you.
He wrapped his arms around you from behind and kissed you on the neck before saying, “no, seriously, this is the best thing anyone could have given me. I have a question though, is this what you went out to get” he asked, you hummed in response.
“As much as I love my gift, and I really do, please do risk your life over something like this. All I need is you and the kid, and I’m happy, ok.” He said
“Ok”
Cyar’ika - darling
Ridder - wife/partner
Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum - I love you.
bakugo as your boyfriend would include...
request: what would dating bakugo be like?
gn!reader (but there are slight fem themes if you squint); fluff; headcanons; no spoilers
Tumblr media
character: bakugo katsuki
a/n: this goes out to my one & only <333. ilysm deku kinnie pls enjoy! also, @ bakugo simps i hope this feeds u well. he’s sm fun to write for. headcanons + a short playlist are under the cut.
*ty to my bakugo kinnie/simp friend for helping me write this. i appreciate u. A LOT of these ideas r hers!!
-
FALLING IN LOVE WITH HIM SOUNDS LIKE:
01. TEENAGE DIRTBAG by WHEATUS
02. GUTTER GIRL by HFHW
03. BOYFREN by LOVE LEO
04. IN TOO DEEP by SUM 41
05. TOUNGES by THE FRIGHTS
06. R U MINE? by ARCTIC MONKEYS
-
katsuki is a very emotional person. he feels incredibly deep and profound things, but has trouble expressing it in a healthy manner. this being so, him as your s/o would consist of a lot of subtle displays of affection! such as...
-> SHOWING YOU HOW TO DO STUFF:
he’ll teach you small things about his hobbies. will 100% show you how to play the drums, mountain climb, etc.
literally you learn so much with him it’s insane. he claims it’s because he couldn’t stand dating an incapable person, but in reality it’s just because he likes feeling useful/needed HAHA.
-> TOUCHING YOU:
this man is lowkey super clingy...so he will always find a way to be physically close to you.
a BIG fan of putting his arm around your shoulder fs. don’t mention it to him though because he’ll IMMEDIATELY stop doing it.
-> LETTING YOU SIT ON HIS LAP:
if you’re comfortable with it, he’d adore it if you sat on his lap!! like fr if you walked up to him when he was lounging on the couch and did it this is how it would go...
“what’re you doing?”
“sitting down, why?”
he just stares and then grunts before going back to whatever he was doing
don’t let his indifference fool you, he is very pleased.
probably looked up at the ceiling and thought about it for an hour once you left
he thinks about you a lot
-> ALWAYS COOKING FOR YOU:
he pretends like it’s a nuisance, but it genuinely makes his day when you eat the stuff he prepares. literally if you’re hungry just ask him to make you smth and he’ll do it. he actually gets angry if you decide to cook without him.
one time, katsuki seemed really tired because of training and school. so you tried to make something for the both of you guys to enjoy together. it uh...didn’t go well...
“what are you doing?!”
“cutting vegetables...”
“no. you’re doing it all wrong. give me the knife.”
“excuse me??”
“GIVE ME THE KNIFE.”
you ended up giving him the knife
the meal was great!?? but he scolded you for like 30 minutes after PLS.
-> SHOWING YOU OFF:
he’s proud that you’re his s/o, so of course he’s gonna brag about you to EVERYONE.
it’s not overbearing or in an annoying way either. it’s moreso him talking about your accomplishments and stuff like that.
he literally only shows you off for his own benefit. NEEDS everyone to know how cool you and him both are.
it’s an ego thing.
i take back what i said abt it not being annoying. it’s a nuisance to everyone who ain’t you.
-> SITTING NEXT TO YOU:
like i said before, he needs to be close to you at all times. sooo he always sits next to you. no questions asked.
expect to see a pouting, petty katsuki if you decide to sit next to somebody that isn’t him.
“are you seriously mad that i sat next to deku and not you on the bus?!”
“‘COURSE IM MAD.”
“you’re impossible.”
“HUH??????”
-> LETTING YOU WEAR HIS CLOTHES:
PRACTICALLY CHUCKS HIS SHIRTS AND HOODIES AT YOU. LITERALLY JUST- PELTS YOU WITH HIS CLOTHES UNTIL YOU PUT THEM ON.
you took his hoodie without asking ONE TIME and now he’s hooked on seeing you in his clothing.
he’ll always pretend like he’s doing you a favor though.
gotta love how annoying he is!
-> GIFT GIVING
i wouldn’t go as far to say that gift giving is his love language, but he’ll buy things that you bring up in causal conversation a whole lot.
he just kinda bashfully shoves the gift in your hands and watches as you fawn over it.
“awww! how’d you know??”
“you wouldn’t shut up about it.”
he loves seeing your pleased expression!! +100 boost to katsuki’s confidence.
-> HELPING YOU WITH ACADEMICS:
we ALL know how smart this man is.
he will 100% help you study for school if you’re struggling!
don’t expect him to go easy on you though.
if anything, he’ll probably be harder on you because he really wants to see you succeed.
he basically carries you through math
-> KNOWING MUNDANE FACTS ABOUT YOU:
i can see him knowing EVERYTHING about you. your birthday, your morning routine, your favorite snacks, your favorite songs, etc.
it doesn’t take a lot for him to remember this stuff either???
like, he thinks you’re unforgettable, so he just knows
-> WANTING TO IMPRESS YOU:
he wants you to know how cool he is so bad it’s laughable.
he’ll show off during training exercises FOR SUREEEE
bakusquad teases him abt it when he does lol they ALLL know how whipped he is for you
kirishima: wow, you’re really into it today bakugo!
denki: well (y/n) IS watching
bakugo: SHUT UP.
MISC HEADCANONS!
-> you enable him so much...like way too much. please get on that. someone needs to hold this stupid man accountable. he probably likes it when you scold him despite his protests so don’t be afraid to tell him off baby.
-> your approval makes his heart go $$/!/?!!!error??77776. like, even before you two started dating, he would ALWAYS feel flustered whenever you would compliment his outfits, fighting style, etc. now that you guys are dating, he still feels extremely dazed when you dote on him.
he’ll probably act super cocky about it though
“ ‘course i look good, idiot.”
he’s trying his best to suppress the stupid smile trying to take over his face. eventually, he lets it out, and tbh everyone in 1A knows that it’s because of smth cheesy you told him.
he is SUCH a softie for you it HURTTSSSS GAHHHH!!
-> katsuki is a very protective boyfriend.
this goes for everything, but especially applies during intense situations.
will literally lay his life down for you without thinking twice about it. don’t fight me on this. it’s canon.
if you’re going on a dangerous mission, you BEST believe this man is tagging along with you.
if for some reason he can’t go, he’ll make it a point to stay up way past his bed time waiting for you to come back.
when katsuki chooses you over sleep just know that you’ve won at life.
he doesn’t see you as inferior in any way. he knows you can handle yourself, but he really wants to keep you safe bc if something bad happened to the love of his life he would be in shambles.
on a lighter note, if mineta bugs you, he’ll absolutely wreck him. will literally punt that grape boy into the next stratosphere.
also!! he’s not the type to care about what you wear. if you’re wearing smth a bit more revealing, the most he’ll say is that you look hot. literally is so unbothered.
he trusts you a lot so it’s like 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
protective ≠ possessive
-> dates w/ him are super all over the place! one weekend, you guys will just chill in his dorm and the next he’ll be laughing maniacally as he chases you down during an intense round of laser tag.
-> he’s big fan of competition, so he’ll turn everything into one.
let him win.
-> his hands are really sensitive because of his quirk, so if you kissed them he’d turn to mush.
im literally begging you to touch this man. help him. he is so touch-starved it’s not funny.
-> he runs hot so cuddles w him are so nice and comforting :(. will pull you in close and tight and NEVER let go.
in short, while dating katsuki definitely comes with it’s quirks, it’s a beautiful relationship. he respects you endlessly and will do anything to ensure your happiness. treat him right and he’ll do the same!!
have fun dating explosion boy!
It was the hottest summer in twenty years; or at least that’s what the weather lady had told you when you were getting ready for work this morning.
You’d been searching for your best friend Rosa all over the brothel, asking your colleagues if they’d seen her anywhere. They all shook their heads or shrugged their shoulders before disregarding your presence completely so they could get back to their conversations. You understood their cold nature to a degree. You were new and fresh-faced in Bogotá, and this sex work was the only thing paying your rent. Sometimes you got the feeling they didn’t like you, but you did your best to shrug it off. The manner of your job wasn’t an easy one, that’s for sure. But Rosa had been with you from day one. Not only was she your only friend, but also, she was a mentor, and she taught you everything you needed to know about being a successful sex worker in the heat of Colombia.
You finally found Rosa outside the brothel, leaning against the brick wall, her sunglasses perched on the curve of her nose. Immediately something felt off. You couldn’t put your finger one what exactly it was, but everything about Rosa’s demeanor concerned you. The cigarette that she held between her fingers was almost completely puffed out, with just a noticeable pink lipstick stain on the foot of the filter paper. You stood next to her and leaned against the same wall, by her side. You noticed her shoulders relax a little at your presence, but Rosa still didn’t say a word. It was strange. She was usually bubbly and talkative, eager to tell you all the gossip she had learned from her clients.
“Peppermint for your thoughts?” you asked Rosa, diving into your pocket and bringing out a carton of peppermint candies. As you waited for her response, you placed one on your tongue and sucked on it longingly. You’d been working long hours and it was the first thing you’d eaten all day.
“In a minute,” she said, dismissing the sweet and wiggling her finger in the air. She huffed and narrowed her eyes, watching the busy roads intently before taking one final drag off the cigarette. She stumped the end out and threw it away, but the cigarette that was once in between her lips was now replaced with her thumb as she nervously bit at her nails. “Has Limón  come by today?” she asked you eventually.
You knew the cab driver. He’d frequented the brothel a number of times. Rosa often had a lot to say about him until suddenly, she just didn’t.
“Not that I know of,” you replied innocently, but something still felt so incredibly wrong. “Rosa, is everything okay?”
Rosa’s head snapped to face you, and for the first time you noticed the fear strike in her honey coloured eyes. She sighed and pursed her lips together, before raising her hand and cupping your face. Her thumb grazed the height of your cheekbone and she finally smiled. But it wasn’t like her usual smile. It was soft and— sad.
“Of course,” she told you. “Nothing to worry about.”
And you knew better than to push Rosa, so you decided to leave it at that.
Silence with Rosa was comfortable. You both observed the bustling streets of Bogotá. You were thinking about the simpler things in life, like whether or not you could afford the luxury of canned spaghetti hoops in advance of this month’s rent payment, or where in the brothel you’d left your signature lipstick. Rosa, on the other hand…
“He’s an agent you know.” She announced suddenly.
You furrowed your eyebrows together. “Who? Limón?”
Rosa let out a bark of incredulous laughter, and you assumed as such. “No no, not Limón. I’m talking about Peña.”
You felt your cheeks warm up at the initial mention of his name, and you tried to fight back a smile. You had to keep cool in front of Rosa. Sure, the whole brothel knew about your crush on your client but only Rosa’s opinion mattered to you. “Javier?” you quizzed, as if you needed to question who Peña could possibly be.
Rosa rolled her eyes playfully and you stifled a laugh, realising how silly you sounded. “You’ve got it bad huh?” Rosa acknowledged and you felt a flush of shame creep upon your cheeks. “It’s okay. When I first started out I had countless crushes on my clients.” she confessed, and her revelation made you feel somewhat better about yourself.
“How do you know that… about Javier?” you wondered out loud, biting your lip and trying to sound as casual as possible. You’re the girl he’d been fucking with for the past two months and he hadn’t dared open up to you about a single personal detail in his life. Truth be told, that’s what made him different from the other guys. So if anyone was to know anything about the man, it should be you. Why wasn’t it you? You couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy that your beautiful best friend was seemingly omniscient. “Have… have you been sleeping with him?”
Rosa frowned apologetically and smoothed out your hair. “No honey. I wouldn’t do that to you,” she promised and you nodded your head slowly. You had no reason not to believe her but she still hadn’t answered your question. Just as you went to prod her further, she opened her mouth. “But be careful. Crushes on clients can be dangerous. You never really know who you’re working with. Javier has a… reputation amongst the brothels in Bogotá.”
You swallowed the lump in your throat… a lump that you didn’t even realise you were holding back. “He seems nice. Respectful.” you admitted with a slight shrug of your shoulders. You’d be foolish to dismiss a word of advice from Rosa, but warning you about Javier…? You knew him better than that. You knew him. You had every inch of his body memorised. You could spot his scent from a mile away. You knew he was a good guy.
Rosa hummed slightly before squinting at an oncoming truck that was pulling up outside the brothel. “Speak of the devil.” She muttered.
“Javier!” you couldn’t help but beam excitedly. You quickly turned to face Rosa. “Could I borrow your lipstick? I lost mine and I-” Out of nowhere, Rosa pulled out her pink lipstick and passed it to you. You took it willingly and gave her a quick hug of gratitude. “Thank you.” you mumbled into her neck before pulling away.
“Be careful!” Rosa called after you as you ran back inside the brothel and into the lobby where you’d wait for Javier.
Be careful. You chuckled a little at her words. You had nothing to worry about. You quickly applied your lipstick with as much precision as possible and checked your hair in one of the many mirrors. Your heart rate picked up speed the second you saw him enter the lobby. Today, he was wearing one of his trademark colourful button down shirts - this one, a pale yellow colour that was comparable to the sunshine. He was frowning, just like always, but the bright colour on him radiated an air of enlightenment.
He looked around the lobby in search of you, and when his eyes finally landed on you, he immediately felt at ease. You waved him over with a smirk and he took off his aviators, hanging them in the v of his shirt. His eyes were beautiful, like the deepest shade of cocoa. You made an unfortunate habit of getting lost in them at any given moment.
“Hi Javi,” you cooed, placing the palm of your hand on his chest. “You’re early today.”
“I can’t stay long,” he grumbled. “Have to get back to the office. Can we make it quick?”
You tilted your head curiously. “What do you have in mind?”
Javier brought out his wallet and handed you enough peso’s to cover an easy blowjob. He looked up at you, hopefully, with an adorable sheepish grin on his face. You took the money from him and nodded your head before taking his hand and guiding him to your room.
It was the room he’d grown completely accustomed to the past few months. He knew his way around. He was comfortable. He closed the door behind him and immediately worked at undoing his belt. You glanced over at his payment that you’d discarded on your dresser and thought long and hard. You really liked Javier. Enough so that you felt weird about taking his money. He was different to the other guys. You fucked men because they were paying you, but you fucked Javier because you liked it. You wanted it. Every second he wasn’t with you… you only craved him more.
Too lost in your own thought, you’d forgotten the man of your dreams was standing by the door waiting to get sucked off. He cleared his throat awkwardly and your head snapped in his direction to face him, your eyes going comically wide. You felt embarrassed that you’d left him waiting and quickly paced over to him, kneeling down and unzipping his denim jeans. He was already hard, judging by the familiar shaped imprint against his thigh.
“Everything okay?” he hummed as you pulled out his cock. His question turned into a slight garble as soon as your fingers graced his leaking head. You gathered his precum and rubbed it along his thick length and his eyes immediately snapped shut.
“Yes. Why?” you asked innocently before pressing a kiss to his slit. You looked up at him through your eyelashes with wide doe-eyes.
“Looked like something was preying on your mind.” Javier muttered, scrunching his face up in pleasure as you licked a stripe along the base of his cock. You extended your hand to massage his balls and you continued to pump at his length.
“Isn’t that why you’re here?” You beckoned further. “To let go?”
“Fuck,” Javier hissed. “More.” he pleaded and you quickly obeyed, wrapping your lips around his head and pushing his cock deep into your mouth. You felt his body tense up and he threw his head back against the wooden door. “More!” he choked out.
You hollowed your cheeks and sank your lips as far as you could go, so his groomed pubic hair tickled the tip of your nose. Tears began to prick your eyes and you pulled off him quickly to gasp for breath. Javier was heaving and panting too, and you took a second to look up at him and lick your lips. He was so perfect, a thin sheen of sweat glistened along his collarbones, only just noticeable under the dim amber lights of your room. Before he could catch you staring like a hopeless lovebird, you reattached your lips around his cock and finished up the blowjob, feeling more than satisfied when his ropes of cum spilled into your mouth.
Once his cock softened enough to tuck himself back in, he zipped up his jeans and redone his belt but not before helping you stand. Meeting respectful guys like Javier Peña in your line of work was a rarity, that’s for sure. Still you couldn’t help but think about Rosa’s words as you watched him smooth out his shirt. No visible police badge. No signs that he was an agent. To say it irked you was an understatement. How did she know he was an agent? There wasn’t a chance he told her… not when he was so secretive with you. You’d been fucking him for two months now and you didn’t know a single detail about his life. You didn’t know where he lived, or how old he was, or if he had any siblings. Rosa might have been your best friend, and she swore to you that she wasn’t sleeping with him on the side, so how did she know?
Of course, it could’ve easily all been bullshit. She could’ve been scheming a way to get you to fall out of love with him. Nobody likes a cop. You couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard you tried, but you knew for sure Rosa would never want to hurt you. You were annoyed for letting yourself get so irrational. You just wished… you wished that he’d talk to you. Treat you more than just some whore he got to use at his own beck and call. Your stomach twisted when you realised that was exactly all you were. A fool facing the wrath of unrequited love. You sighed and grabbed his jacket from the bed.
“Thank you,” he said, taking his jacket and swinging it over his strong forearm. It was too hot outside to wear. You nodded in acknowledgement but didn’t say anything.
For the first time since meeting Javier Peña, you had let yourself get hurt, and for no good reason either. You couldn’t confront him about it. You couldn’t tell him no matter how much he asked you. You just had to suck it up and get over him. He was a client and that was all he could be. Nothing more. Rosa was right. Falling for your customers was a dangerous deal.
“You’re my favourite, you know.” Javier announced, his voice low and heated. You locked your eyes on his.
“What?” you asked, completely taken aback.
“You’re my favourite girl,” he clarified with a small shrug, as if his comment wasn’t life-changing. Just like that, you were once again putty in Javier Peña’s hands. Your determination to get over him lasted all of five seconds. Before you could reply, he took a step closer to you, breaking any distance and placed a hand on your cheek. He leaned in and placed a chaste kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering against your skin noticeably longer than usual.
You weren’t mad anymore. Your feelings for him were restored just like that. Your eyes were wide as he pulled away from you and licked his lower lip. You felt like you were melting over the sweet menial gesture. You wanted to say something - anything. You wanted to pull him on top of you and crash your lips against his. But no matter how hard you tried to say something, no words came out. All you could manage was a shy little smile. It was the same smile that made Javier’s knees weak. He squeezed his hand into a fist to resist the urge of kissing your perfect lips and instead readjusted his sunglasses. You ducked your head down shyly and opened the door for him.
“Stay safe.” he uttered.
The same two words he told you after every visit. Stay safe. It was almost as if your client had a genuine care for you. You nodded in affirmation and offered him one last smile before he left the brothel and headed back to ‘the office’. Do agents even work in offices? You wondered.
You paced around the corridors of the brothel to find Rosa, wanting to return her lipstick and also tell her about Javier. You were excited. He really said you were his favourite girl. Out of all the girls, you were his favourite. To say you were beaming was an understatement.
You caught her speaking to Javier as he walked out the brothel front door and you felt an anxious knot in your stomach tighten. It was hard to make out from the distance, but by the looks of it, Rosa was crying. The conversation was only brief, and Javier nodded along to whatever she was saying, before handing her a card and leaving for good. You officially had questions. You went to push through the crowds of people but a man much taller and larger than you placed a hand on your shoulder and pushed you back.
“Whoa,” you stumbled. “Can I help you?” He made some crude gesture with his fingers indicating the type of sex he wanted with you and you couldn’t help but scrunch up your nose in disdain. “Yeah okay,” you agreed with a small sigh. “Just a second though, I have to find someone. My room is 20 if you would like to wait for me--”
“No,” he growled, pinning you against the wall. “Now.”
You glanced behind his shoulder searching for Rosa but she had evidently already disappeared.
“Okay.” you huffed, pulling yourself out of his grip and leading him to your room. You supposed you could tell Rosa about Javier after you’d dealt with this guy.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
He’d left about ten minutes ago, and you were just finishing up in your room, getting ready to clock out of work and call it a day. The brothel lobby was often loud and bubbly, but the second you heard all the muffled chatter stop, you knew something was up. You pulled your purse over your shoulders and locked your room before walking down the corridor. As you approached the lobby, you heard loud footsteps and yelling. The second you stepped foot in the main room, you saw the man Rosa had been asking you about earlier in the day, and your heart sank.
“Where the fuck is she?” Limón shouted. He and another man paced around in circles. It had gone quiet because the men had the other girls, your colleagues, pressed against the wall, holding guns to their heads. Your eyes widened in horror and you immediately brought your hands up in the air to surrender.
“Are none of you whores talking? Where the fuck is she?” the other man hissed.
“La Quica,” — so that was his name — “Shut the fuck up. You’ll draw unwanted attention.”
They hadn’t noticed you yet. There was still time to escape. But your feet were frozen to the ground. How could you dare run away and leave the girls here, unable to fend for themselves?
Limón pressed the handgun to Martzia’s head. “Where is she?” he spat.
“Who?” Martzia gasped.
“Rosa!” Limón bellowed, clocking the gun in anger. “Where the fuck is Rosa?”
“I- I don’t know!” Martzia cried. She was visibly shaking in terror. All the girls were.
“Bullshit!” Limón snapped back, and within a second, he pulled the trigger and Martzia was dead on the floor.
On impulse, you looked away, but you’d already caught an eye-full. Martzia’s blood was not only on the wall behind her, but it was on Juliet too, who was now a whimpering mess. Taking a deep breath, you mustered up all your strength to look back at the girls. Most of them had their eyes closed and their tear stained cheeks glistened under the dingy lights.
“You. Shut the fuck up.” Limón  growled before moving over to Juliet and pressing the gun against her head. She choked out a sob and apparently that was enough for Limón to pull the trigger on her as well. You slammed your hands against your mouth and let out an incomprehensible noise. That got Limón and La Quica’s attention. La Quica grabbed you and pinned you up against the wall so you were only centimetres away from Martzia and Juliet’s limp bodies.
“How long has that bitch been standing there for?” Limón asked angrily and La Quica shrugged his shoulders. Limón pulled on your hair so he could get a good look at your face. “Hey La Quica this whore must be new. Haven’t seen her around before. Nice ass too.” He smirked, wrapping his hand around your neck and squeezing it. “Do you know where Rosa is?”
You didn’t. But neither did Martzia and that had got her killed. Even if you did know where Rosa was, you wouldn’t give up that information. You couldn’t. Your heart was slamming against your chest and when you felt the handgun press in between your shoulder blades you thought you were going to pass out right then and there.
“Limón.”
It was her. It was Rosa. You felt the handgun slowly slip away from your back as both Limón and La Quica turned around to face your best friend. When you were certain they weren’t looking at you anymore, you turned around too so you could take a look at Rosa yourself. When your eyes met hers, you saw her face soften.
“Rosa!” Limón hissed, running over to the girl. “Tell me it isn’t true. Tell me it wasn’t you.” Limón grabbed on to Rosa and began to shake her. “My apartment was fucking raided, Rosa. A kilo of coke, gone. They know. They know we’ve been chauffeuring Escobar.”
You were baffled. We? She’d been helping chauffeur Pablo fucking Escobar? You shook your head in disbelief, praying it wasn’t true. She’d been lecturing you about the dangers of your job when she’d been doing the most dangerous thing of all. And how could she not tell you? If she had just told you… maybe you could’ve helped her. Maybe you could’ve done something. It couldn’t be true.
“I called the cops,” Rosa confessed, her voice emotionless and her face stone cold. “I called the cops and they put me through to the DEA immediately. I met with an agent. I told him everything I knew. I ratted you out Limón, and you should thank me.”
Limón raised his hand and slapped Rosa across the face. “You bitch!” He shouted. “How could you do this to me Rosa? How could you fucking--”
Then, a gunshot.
The sound was blinding and everything went in slow motion. You swore that your heart stopped beating as tears streamed down your face. You screamed as you watched her body fall to the ground.
“La Quica you fucker! You killed her! You killed Rosa!” Limón cried out in anguish, grabbing his friend by the shoulders. “What the fuck man! What the fuck!”
“She confessed,” La Quica huffed, trying to calm his friend. “I know you liked her but she’s a fucking whore, Limón! She made her mouth go. She’s the reason you had the fucking DEA sniffing out your apartment. We’re not only in trouble with the cops but if Escobar finds out… shit man. I’m scared.”
Both La Quica and Limón were visibly freaking out. They had put their guns away at least, but they were pacing around in circles again and shouting at each other. But you couldn’t hear a single thing. You couldn't see anything... just the blur of their bodies. You couldn’t smell and your fingers felt numb. You felt like you were falling. Your chest was tight and your heart was broken.
“We have to run Limón, three fucking gunshots. Three dead bodies. The cops have probably already been called.” La Quica informed Limón as he helped coach his friend’s panicked breathing. You looked down at Martzia and Juliet’s bodies on the floor and then your gaze followed over to Rosa’s body. As the men scrambled out the brothel, you fell to your knees and crawled over to your best friend.
“Rosa,” you whispered, tears streaming down your cheeks as you picked up and cradled her body in your arms. Her blood was all over you, and you felt like you could throw up at any second. “Rosa please. I- Rosa. No no no what… What did you do Rosa?” You chanted your best friend's name and cried into her body.
What did she do?
“show me yours and i’ll show you mine.”
x
“be nice," taehyung mouths across from you as he sits next to mina.
the red handprints on his cheeks becoming more apparent with each passing minute. it was half-believable to say taehyung fell face first in the snow, got stuck there for more than two minutes and voila, sported a red face upon your return to the kim’s.
but now, you’re just lucky no one’s pointing out the very obvious palm shaped mark on his pudgy cheeks as he stuffs his face with food.
“oh, mina, do you have any plans tomorrow? you could stay over and spend christmas morning with us," mrs kim asks as she passes the bowl of the roasted potatoes seokjin’s been boasting about.
“o-oh,” the brunette stammers, holding the fork with both hands as if citing a prayer of hope, “no, i couldn’t intrude on you any longer.”
“no such thing, we’re all family here.” mrs kim waves a dismissive hand and even that brief gesture feels warm, “___’s mother and i have known your mother since we were kids and i watch you two grow up with my boys - you’re basically  daughters i never had,” she shoots you a smile, eyes crinkling in the corners.
not seeing the remark coming, you end up almost choking on the mushroom soup you’re just in the middle of enjoying.
“i can’t say i’d love to have tae as a sibling but here we are,” you jest, half-heartedly while laughter erupts from everyone at the table.
if there’s a god, please don’t let mrs kim find out i fucked her oldest son.
“i heard yuukal co is interested in your flower arrangements and wanna buy exclusive rights to have you deliver them to the company whenever they have an event lined up?” namjoon chirps up, dimples digging into his cheek as he digs into his
“the secretary of yuukal co was an acquaintance of mine in college, that’s probably why.” the brunette says shyly, pushing her hair to the back of her ear.
“so, you’re not planning on going back to college?”
but it’s your voice that makes her blink once and stare at you like you’re some tricky math question.
“what- oh,” she shakes her head, as if shaking away the trance that delayed her response, “i don’t know, my major has nothing to do with what i want to do so i’m thinking of taking another year off.”
you nod casually. understandingly. “i’m sure the college has plenty of spots for people who actually wants to be there, i guess.”
it’s not a new low. but it’s a kind of low you never usually stoop to.
no one seems to notice though, as mina laughs. obviously uncomfortable by your remark, “haha yeah.”
“taehyung got offered a job at the company he interned in last year,” with a smack on the aforementioned boy’s back, seokjin proudly announces.
and just like that, taehyung takes the spotlight to himself.
“oh my god, that’s wonderful news. kim taehyung, when were you going to tell us?” mrs. kim is the first to say something, eyes brimming with anticipation as she looks at him, waiting for him to tell everyone at the table more about it.
but the fact of the matter is, kim taehyung is torn between working a nine-to-five, subsequently making his parents proud or going professional as a full time gamer.
he breathes out an ‘uh...’ before his lips curl into a forced smile.
“surprise?”
x
some time after dinner, you end up drinking and playing card games. mrs kim already went to bed and it's a hour past midnight and all four of your find yourselves in your house to not disturb the kim couples.
the grinch is playing in the background because you, taehyung and mina won against namjoon and seokjin who wanted to watch frozen.
“frozen is so unchristmasy,” taehyung complained.
though, at one point, you did backtrack a little - only a teensy bit - and sided with seokjin who looked like he just won a lottery when you casually say, “i mean frozen’s got that wintry feeling and christmas is in-”
“oh girl, not you choosing a man over your best friend,” taehyung started tickling your sides as giggles erupted from your lips while trying to beg for forgiveness.
 “okay! okay! i’m grinch team all the way!”
“is that allowed? yah! you can’t say that after converting to team frozen!” seokjin’s rebuttal sounded every bit casual.
in retrospect, him joining taehyung’s ticklish assault would have felt out of character had you not fucked behind taehyung’s back nor kissed like you were star crossed lovers just hours ago.
“two against one! not fair! seokjin- ah- hahahaha!”
one good thing came out of it though: you ended up sitting next to seokjin. it made you a little too conscious of him - of his cologne, of his thigh that brushes against yours with every movement you make and pretend like it’s nothing and of the ghost of a touch of his pinky finger that lingers on your knee when he seemingly places a hand on his own knee.
still, it’s the closest you could ever be in public and it’s enough to tell mina to back off.
she doesn’t seem to notice but her compliments are equally distributed to everyone in the room. she seems to be the giggly drunk. giggling at every single thing everyone say.
somewhere deep in your heart, you feel the guilt gnawing because of your uncalled for hostility.
“i better get home,” she starts to stand at 3:07 am and you wave a dismissive hand, “no, it’s so late. stay over. please. you promised to make me your special hot chocolate in the morning.”
she objects at first like she turned down mrs kim’s invitation to spend christmas morning at the kim’s. and that’s how you know your views have been blinded with jealousy to see mina for who she is - a cute, lovable girl who’d be the heroine of every romance novel there is.
“oh thank you, thank you!” her arms flail around before they wrap around you in a drunken hug.
you laugh, hugging back.
x
the memories of how you huddled together like children and fell asleep in the living room, is hazy but when you wake up - the time on your screen displaying a 6 something am - you find a blanket draped over your body.
the light from the kitchen pours over the living room but not enough to wake the slumbering bodies there.
seokjin shoots you a smile when he sees you ambling over to the dining table with hair pointing in every direction, eyes squinting trying to block out the light while holding the blanket around your shoulders.
“you’re working? jinnie, it’s christmas,” you whine, head resting on his shoulder, feeling your heartbeat skip at the small contact.
he chuckles, bumping his cheek against your head before you hear the sound the keyboard again.
you stay like that, blanket curled around your body, seokjin typing away at his laptop.
that is, until his velvet voice cuts through the silence.
“so... i reckon that red handprint on tae’s cheek isn’t because he fell face first in snow.”
“it was because i slapped him in the face,” you wave your injured hand that’s now wrapped with a panda printed band aid instead of the duck ones seokjin used in the beginning.
he takes your hand, making sure not to apply too much pressure on the injury and kisses the top of your hand, “why would you do that?”
your cheeks warm at the gesture but you clear your throat, trying to play it cool, “because he told me we looked good together after all that shit he put us through.”
silence lulls in once again.
it feels like the longest you’ve ever gone with your heart palpitating inside your chest and unspoken words hovering over you but not quite reaching the who they’re supposed to reach.
“do we?” seokjin muses.
“do we... what?” you ask despite having an inkling of what he means.
“look good.” he turns to you, one arm on the table, thumb brushing against your pinky finger.
“i don’t know- we never even took selfies together.” you shrug.
“i think our selfies would look cute,” he pauses, naturally pouty lips curling into a smile, “so cute that the guys in your dm’s would be devastated to know that you’re dating me.”
“i can’t... do this,” the words slip out of your mouth like a waterfall like it’s bound to pour out of your heart through your mouth at some point, “because taehyung was... right. i don’t have a love language - even if i did, it’d be being jealous of every girl that talks to you. lashing out at those girls even though it’s completely understandable why they’d have heart eyes when they talk to you because you’re just that amazing... and... and... you like me? why?”
seokjin’s eyes look like someone personally plucked stars from the sky and trap them in those dark brown irises.
no- actually, he’s looking at you like you’re the star and he’s the moon that shines silver white rays just to have you notice him.
“who’s to say i don’t get jealous?” he cups your face, brows furrowing like you’re a math question without a solution and he’s going mad trying to figure you out, “i get so jealous at the thought of guys sliding into your dm’s, let alone make a pass on you but then i thought ‘if she’s not looking at me then i just have to try harder to make her notice me’ and i might or might not’ve reciprocated mina’s passes to make you jealous...”
you feel the corners of your lips tugging into a smile as you smack his chest lightly, “ass.”
that earns a chuckle from the man before he goes on, “but i’m not even sure what my love language is either, last i used it, i ended up getting dumped because apparently i’m too boring.”
“you’re not boring...” red flashes in your vision as you spit out the word, offended, “your dad jokes are bad but that’s what makes them so lovable. you’re so tall but you’re a literal walking teddy bear. you have biggest, kindest heart... and you’re so hung.”
something devious and prideful flashes across his eyes for the briefest moment before he asks ever so softly, “yeah?”
“yes.” you take his hands and grip them tightly, wishing the touch would convey your feelings.
“isn’t that kind of your love language?” his thumb feels callous against your skin as he rubs circles on the back of your hand. but that’s what makes this feels real - an affirmation that you’re not dreaming, “so... show me more... show yours and i’ll show you mine.”
you’d want to say you share a deep, passionate kiss to seal your promise for each other. but when you open your eyes - not knowing when you closed it - you’re staring at the white ceiling with neon starry stickers tacked up on it.
and seokjin?
he’s nowhere to be found.
the morning air sends shivers down your spine as you pull your blanket over your head, trying to tune out taehyung’s voice.
but the universe seems set on kicking your sleepy ass of your bed when the door swings open with a bang!
“get up! get up! it’s christmas!” the tall boy literally screams in your ears before hoisting you over his shoulder like a sack of potato and setting you down on the toilet in the bathroom with a “you better wash your face by the time i come back!”
you do as told.
eventually.
since the presents are all set under the christmas tree at the kim’s and you’re not looking to upload a christmas morning story in mismatched pj’s, you change into a cute totoro onesie.
mr and mrs kim got mina - she thanked you for letting her stay over last night even though you woke up to an empty house, she even has different clothes on than last night - new kits for the florist.
taehyung almost hugged you to death when he unwrapped his new ps5 that he’s been dying for.
namjoon got a new pair of gucci loafers from taehyung and booked an interrogation slot with their mother because-
“kim taehyung, where did you get all this money?”
you suspect he’s going to reveal his gaming channel to her where he got sponsors from to buy namjoon those loafers.
and seokjin gifted you with a heartshaped necklace as well as a new pc set for taehyung and a signed book of namjoon’s favorite writer that he’d been talking about for ages as well as an all expense paid trip for his parents to thailand.
“thanks for the necklace,” you lightly bump seokjin’s elbow as you come to stand next to him at the sink. he’s washing the mug he used for hot coffee.
he steals a glance at his family and mina in the living room. they’re laughing over taehyung having his head down, sitting on his calves like he’s asking for the forgiveness of a lifetime after confessing that he didn’t want to work a nine-to-five and wanted to go pro.
then his eyes find yours again. the glint in them makes your heart stop before he leans down, lips brushing yours ever so gently yet very seokjin-like.
you think your heart just burst as you freeze in your spot, staring up at the man with slightly parted lips and warm cheeks like a high school girl whose crush very obviously hinted he likes her back.
he raises a quizzical brow at your reaction before realization settles on his face and his lips curve into a smirk, “what? did you think last night was all a dream?”
Sunwoo was deep in his slumber, cuddled up against the side of the bus before feeling his shoulder being poked against constantly. His eyes fluttered open and turned his head to meet the culprit who had woken him up, meeting a hesitant seatmate of his.
“Uh, hi,” the stranger greeted, awkwardly smiling as he retracted his hand.
Sunwoo’s groggy eyes were squinting at the stranger before being able to comprehend that he was still on the bus.
“I’ve been uh- on this bus for a while, and I’m supposed to get off at the next stop, so I just wanted to wake you up in case you had missed your stop.”
His doe eyes had widened at the information, scrambling to pull his phone out of his pocket to check the time. The stranger continued to watch Sunwoo, observing every movement of his. “Fuck, it’s been two hours,” he grumbled, rubbing his temples.
“Yeah uh, sorry man.” The stranger pursed his lips, letting his legs bounce as he looked up ahead while the bus slowly came to a stop.
“Hey uh, before you leave, could you tell me where we are?” Sunwoo asked.
“CK Plaza.”
“Oh, thanks.”
The stranger was standing up in the middle of the aisle by now, eyes analyzing every detail on Sunwoo’s face. His face slowly morphed into shock, just realizing that he’d seen Sunwoo before. Kinda.
“You’re one of the freshmen joining the soccer team in CKU, right?” he exclaimed.
Sunwoo shrunk in his seat, nodding slightly while other passengers turned their attention to the pair. “I actually plan on going back to CKU. Did I miss it?”
“Oh yeah you definitely did.”
With an annoyed glare from the bus driver, the stranger insisted that Sunwoo should come with him.
“I’m also from CKU!” he informed, walking down the steps of the bus before hopping off. “Transfer student, actually. I used to go to SNU?”
Sunwoo looked at the stranger in awe, now fully invested due to mention of the school Eric’s attending. “SNU? I have a friend that got accepted there!” He kicked at the ground as they walked down the sidewalk towards the line of stores. “Why’d you transfer here?”
The boy laughed, shaking his head. It was as if he was ashamed of what he’s about to say, eyes wandering all over as he spoke. “SNU never really treated me well. I wasn’t doing very well in terms of grades and friendships, and luckily my boyfriend was able to find a way to get me to transfer here.” He smiled to himself at the mention of his boyfriend, feeling ever so giddy inside. “I plan on meeting him here, actually! He just came back from the gym.”
“I’m Kevin,” the stranger introduced, bringing Sunwoo to the fountain in the center of the plaza. They both sat down, letting the warmth from the sun dance on their skin.
“Sunwoo.”
“Right! The one that won every single match against all the high schools in the state.”
“Actually, uh, that’s the other freshman,” Sunwoo corrected. “I’m the one from the small town down south.”
Kevin gaped at Sunwoo. “Right! That’s you. Oh my god, the prodigy. Well, both of you guys were stated as prodigies. That’s crazy though. Did you get recruited?”
“Nope, just applied. How’d you know all of this though?”
Kevin looked at him, furrowing his brows. “From the newspaper.”
“People actually read that stuff?”
“Doesn’t everyone? CKU has always been highly known for their current newspaper system. Even students from other colleges try to get their hands on them. Kind of impressive if you ask me.”
Sunwoo shrugged in response, hiding a yawn behind his palm afterwards. “It’s still kind of, crazy to me.”
“I’m sure you’ll get used to it. And hey, with you being on the soccer team, you’ll definitely get huge recognition.”
Kevin pulled out his phone, realizing that Sunwoo wasn’t supposed to be here in the first place. “I’d love to walk you back to the school, but I’m afraid my boyfriend and his friends would arrive earlier than expected.” He frowned, pulling up the directions to the university before showing them to his newly founded friend. “But if you want, you can stay and meet them! I’m sure we won’t hang out for long. Have a short chat, get a few drinks, then leave.”
Tumblr media
“You’re not going to join them?” Hyunjae asked, walking Changmin back into his room after watching you and Juyeon leave with Jacob.
“What about you? Why are you still here?” he grumbled, taking a seat on his bed.
“Bored. Plus you seem lonely!!” Hyunjae jumped onto the chair by Changmin’s desk, entertaining himself by spinning around in it. It didn’t last long though, already feeling sick after a minute or so of spinning. Changmin just watched his friend with amusement, laughing when Hyunjae tried to balance himself.
“Let’s do something,” Hyunjae declared, attempting to stand up without stumbling to the side. “You, me, and Haknye-”
“No.”
“Come on, Changmin. Why not? We can go surprise the other three. They’re going to the plaza, right?”
“They didn’t even invite us,” Changmin groaned. “We’d be unwanted attention if we crashed.”
“You do realize you’re talking to me, right? Me. ME.” Hyunjae pointed at himself, hurt that Changmin held ever so low expectations of himself. “My attention is always wanted and needed 24/7, and it’s only at the plaza! We’re crashing a double date, not a party.”
“Excuse me, what did you say? Double date?” Changmin raised an eyebrow, but Hyunjae ignored his question, continuing his attempted persuasion.
“We can also meet Jacob’s boyfriend!”
“Jacob has a boyfriend?”
“Not the point. Even if, emphasis on the if, they don’t want us there, we could just hang out by ourselves.”
“Without Haknyeon.”
“No, Haknyeon’s coming.”
“Without Hakn-”
“Have you seen the poor kid? Dude’s out there in your kitchen, making like- five sandwiches for himself. How can we not include him?” Hyunjae was pouting by the time he stood in front of Changmin, shaking his shoulders.
“I-I, but-” Changmin sputtered. “But we can’t just- does he-”
Hyunjae’s puppy eyes were hard to resist, so he eventually gave in with a long, exasperated and over dramatic sigh, looking away from his friend. “Fuck you.”
“HELL YEAH!”
Tumblr media
“They should be here in a few minutes,” Kevin murmured, looking down at his wristwatch.
Sunwoo nodded, hands resting in his lap as he watched all the people that walked past the fountain that they were seated on. It was obvious a majority of the people here were students, sipping on their drinks while carrying shopping bags around. A lot of them had a group of friends as well, sharing bright smiles and laughing like crazy whenever one of them made a joke.
It was unfortunate, really, how all of this reminded him of his one and only friend. He knew Eric also loved spending his money, and he could imagine himself being dragged from store to store.
But Sunwoo did his best to not think about him, realizing that he had a new friend right beside him.
Kevin admitted to being introverted, which Sunwoo wouldn’t have guessed at all, yet rambled about his entire college life at SNU, stating how stuck up the people there were. It wasn’t like Sunwoo minded the rant. If anything, he was happy over the fact that someone he barely even knew was already opening up to him. Though, hearing his stories made Sunwoo scared for Eric. As much as the pair seemed stuck up at their previous schools, Eric by himself was such a sweetheart, and from what Sunwoo was hearing, SNU sounded corrupted.
“I was on the soccer team for SNU. The goalie, actually, but the entire experience was just- the worst out of my entire two years there. I’d rather not talk about it, honestly.” Kevin hung his head, staring down at his feet.
Sunwoo didn’t push further whatsoever but never removed his doe eyes from Kevin. “Do you plan on joining the soccer team for CKU then?” The thought made him brighten up, wishing that would be the case. He already knew you were going to be on the team, and just based off of that, he knew he’d be lonely again. It sounded like a complete repeat of when he had met you.
“Gosh I wish. I know the team has try-outs, and I’m definitely going to try, but I highly doubt I’d get in. I only really do well as a goalie, and the team most likely has one of those. But it’s whatever. Soccer isn’t that important.”
And just like that, Sunwoo was hit with flashbacks from the night earlier, Kevin managing to say the same exact thing Eric had said before at the convenience store.
“I’m sure you’d get in. It sounds like you have a lot of potential.”
Kevin turned to look at Sunwoo, sending him a warm smile. “Thanks. It means a lot.”
He then sat up straight, eyes soon landing on his boyfriend, grinning at the sight of him in a baseball cap. “They’re here!” he declared, waving over to them.
Sunwoo’s heart started racing at the thought of new people and looked over at who Kevin was waving to. Slowly, his eyes started to widen. It didn’t take long to figure out that it was you who was approaching, despite him not seeing you for nearly four years. He stood up instinctively, excuses pouring past his lips.
“Oh uh- actually, ahaha, I just remembered I have something to study for! A study session! Yes, I have a study session, and I’m going to be so late. I’m so sorry, see you around?”
“Oh?” Kevin’s perplexed tone made Sunwoo hurt a bit, but he knew he had to get out of there before you could even spot him.
“I’ll see you when you get into the soccer team!” He was walking backwards at this point, fingers wrapped around his phone while his other hand waved to Kevin.
“Alright, I’ll see you eventually! Bye Sunwoo!”
Tumblr media
“I didn’t come here to play god damn hide and seek, Jaehyun.”
“Shut the fuck up. Why do you have to be so pessimistic?”
“Your name is Jaehyun?”
Both eyes darted towards Haknyeon when he snorted, forgetting that the younger boy was even with them in the first place. Haknyeon looked back at the two with just as much confusion, shoving his second sandwich that he brought along into his mouth. They ignored his question, looking back through the window of the boba shop.
For the past fifteen minutes, the trio has been walking down the lines of shops, searching through each and every display window for the two “couples” (as Hyunjae would refer to them as).
Changmin’s mind was filled with two things throughout the entire journey.
Haknyeon, and you with Juyeon.
He still doesn’t understand why Haknyeon was dragged along (and neither does Haknyeon know himself), and he can’t wrap his mind over the fact Hyunjae continues to call whatever they’re on a double date. Did he miss a few chapters? Since when the fuck have you and Juyeon gotten closer?
Haknyeon was watching Changmin stare off into the distance as Hyunjae stared through the window. He kept silent for a majority of the time, but he enjoyed the company.
He snapped Changmin out of his thoughts by holding out one of his two sandwich bags out to him. “Made this for you.”
Changmin blinked. “Are you talking to me?”
“Take it or leave it.”
Changmin kept silent, wondering what kind of tricks the younger boy was playing on him. Never has Haknyeon ever done anything for Changmin, much less try to act like Changmin existed in the first place. “You made a sandwich for me? Or are you just saying that because you can’t finish?” he scoffed.
“You haven’t eaten at all, right? You’ve been in your room the entire day.” Just like before, Haknyeon’s voice was softer, still holding out the bag for the elder male.
“I SEE THEM, I see them!” Hyunjae rushed over to the two boys, hitting their backs out of excitement.
Haknyeon’s attention towards Changmin shifted over to the window they were standing at. “Where?”
Changmin was still focused on Haknyeon, though. He took the bag from Haknyeon, thanking him through a whisper although he was positive Haknyeon didn’t hear it considering how his eyes were searching for both you and Juyeon.
“There!” Hyunjae pointed to a table in the corner of the boba shop.
And there you were, sitting with Juyeon while the couple sat across from you. Jacob had his arm wrapped around Kevin’s shoulders, holding him close against his side as they conversed.
You guys were sharing a conversation about Kevin about being on the soccer team, the boy being in so much shock when realizing who you were.
“No way! I was actually with Sunwoo a few seconds ago.”
Your nose scrunched up at the mention, hating how you were reminded of your nemesis’s existence.
“You were a goalie back at SNU, right?” Juyeon asked, leaning forward in his seat.
For someone that had nothing to do with soccer (or as it seems), Juyeon was oddly intrigued. You didn’t pay much mind to it though, busy stirring your drink with your straw.
Though, a commotion outside the shop immediately caught your attention.
It would be an understatement to say that you almost dropped your drink at the sight of your best friend, your brother, and his best friend all lurking outside the window.
Your eyes met Changmin, watching him munch on a sandwich while Haknyeon was looking at you apologetically for what was about to come.
“The team is so desperate to find a goalie, I’ll let Hyunjae kn-” and with Juyeon’s words, the elder barged into the boba shop.
“JUYEONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNIE-”
Tumblr media
“Thanks a lot, dipshit.”
“Listen, I didn’t think they’d kick all of us out of the shop,” Hyunjae muttered, taking small bites from the sandwich Haknyeon gave him out of pity.
“I’m sure it’s okay. We’re not banned from the shop, right?” Jacob’s smile and reassurance was enough to calm each and every single member of the group down after dealing with the amount of embarrassment Hyunjae had given them.
“See! Jacob understands.”
“I don’t want to hear one more peep from you,” Juyeon threatened.
They all paused in the middle of the plaza, looking at all the surrounding stores. Juyeon’s eyes caught onto one for swimwear, turning back to the others. “I’m probably going to take Y/N to a store with swimwear. You didn’t bring any, right?”
“Nope, none.” You stared at Changmin, still pissed over the fact he never mentioned that you could go to a pool on campus.
“Can I come with you guys?” Haknyeon asked, poking his head out from Hyunjae in order to make himself visible.
“I don’t see why not.” Juyeon welcomed Haknyeon with open arms, pulling the younger boy to the side with you.
“I’ll hang out with the couple! I want to know more about Kevin.”
“Can’t even give us alone time, can you?” Jacob teased, removing the baseball cap from his own head to put it on top of Kevin’s, laughing when Kevin whined out refusals.
“Nope!” Hyunjae bounced over to the couple, stealing Kevin from Jacob as he sparked up a conversation about his boyfriend.
Jacob lingered around, watching the trio make their way to the store. He noticed Changmin not moving an inch, hesitant on who to join.
“You want to come with us?” Jacob asked, pulling the underclassman under his arm.
Changmin smiled at the boy, forgetting how much he enjoyed spending time with Jacob. “Sure.”
Jacob was about to tug Changmin over back to where his boyfriend and Hyunjae were but had a change of mind after seeing Changmin’s lingering gaze on the other three. “You know what, let’s join the swimwear team instead.”
Changmin was surprised by the change, eyebrows raised.
Without giving an explanation, Jacob gave Changmin a firm pat on the back.
“I’m sure Kevin will do just fine with Hyunjae.”
It Was You (Part Two)
A/N: Jensen and Y/n are childhood best friends. When his agent informs him that his image could use some improvement for a role, will she help him? Or will her feelings get in the way?
Read Part One Here!
A holiday (Christmas centric) Jensen x Female!Reader Best Friends to Lovers series for @spnchristmasbingo. This chapter and others will fill the square of ‘fake dating’. Un-beta’d, so all mistakes are mine. Header created by me with images from Google. Chapter word count: 3284
Series Warnings: angst-ish at times (if you squint), but mostly all the fluff.
I consider this an AU, as Jensen is single in this fic. This is completely a work of fiction, and I wouldn’t want his reality to be any different, this is purely for entertainment.
Tumblr media
Jensen returned home right around 3:30 and went to his place to grab the beer he’d promised Y/n before heading to her apartment, his mind still reeling from the conversation he’d had with Stacy.
Letting himself in, as he always did, Jensen called as soon as he stepped into the entryway, “Sweetheart? It’s me.”
When he entered, he found you lying on the couch with your arm covering your eyes, and soft sniffles were coming from your direction. You were huddled in a mess of blankets and tissues littered the floor surrounding you.
Jensen quickly set the beer on the counter and hurried to you, kneeling on the rug in front of your sofa and reaching towards you. “Hey… Y/n, what’s wrong?”
Pulling your arm away from your face, he was met with puffy, red eyes. You’d been crying.
“Oh, nothing.” You sniffed, wiping your eyes. “I just got dumped, is all.”
You quickly sat up as Jensen climbed onto your couch and pulled you into his arms. Honestly, it wasn’t that you were broken hearted in any way. Sure, Stephen had been nice and sweet, and you were sad to lose him in a way, but the tears were more for your own sorrow of no longer being with someone, which seemed to be more often than not lately.
“I just don’t understand. What is it about me that I can’t just be with someone?” You cried.
Jensen simply swayed you back and forth as you curled into his chest and crawled into his lap. After a few minutes, you wiped your eyes once again as he said, “You know, any guy would have to be crazy for letting you go.”
It was another little jab to the heart, but he wouldn’t know why. You straightened up and took a deep breath. Your head was beginning to hurt from crying, and at this point you needed that beer he brought over. Running your hands through your hair, as you sat on the edge of the couch, Jensen seemed to read your mind as he quickly got up and returned with an opened beer for you.
“Thanks, Jay.” You said, taking a long drink.
He bent down and kissed your head before retreating to your kitchen. Peering over the island, you saw him taking down pots and pans and grabbing ingredients out of your fridge.
“What are you doing?” you called, standing and bringing your beer with you, leaning on the counter and watching him move from one end to the other as he emptied the contents of his arms onto the countertop.
“Well, it may not be your mom’s recipe, but I’m going to make you some chili. I know you were probably really looking forward to it, and I’m not gonna’ to let you go hungry.”
“You don’t have to do that. I can still cook.” You objected, even though the thought was exhausting in itself.
Jensen turned to you and began to chop an onion after setting the pot on the stove, “Nope. You sit your cute butt right there and watch me work.” He replied with a wink.
Smiling, you sat at your kitchen island and tried to avoid being a back-seat chef and allowed him to take the reins. He was a great cook, so you didn’t mind letting him do so. It wasn’t long before he had you laughing and clutching your sides. Between the way he was dancing around the kitchen and cursing when he made a mess, your mind had been cleared and you were in a much better mood. The situation with Stephen sucked, sure, but it wasn’t the worst breakup you’d endured. You’d find the one, eventually.
Jensen made the cornbread and put it in the oven while the chili simmered and came to sit on the stool next to you, bumping your shoulder with his and swiping your beer to finish it.
Clearing his throat, he dared to ask, “So, do you want to talk about it?”
You grabbed the bottle back from him, if only to hold and begin peeling the label, needing to fidget with something in your hands, “It’s not a big deal, really. It’s not like I’m super upset about it. Honestly, you were right. Stephen wasn’t the most exciting person, and I don’t think we really meshed well. He was sweet and everything, but I knew it wasn’t going to work out. It’s more of the fact that I was dumped, again. If you’re not in love, it’s easy to get over. Your hearts not broken.”
“I know, sweetheart. Trust me.” Jensen said with a small sigh.
“Have you ever been heartbroken, Jay?” you asked in a whisper.
“You remember when Allie dumped me the summer before senior year?” he laughed. “You never left my side. That was more of a high school type heartbreak though. I don’t know if that was real, you know?”
“Yeah, I do. Really. I’m sad about Stephen, but not in a heartbreak type of way.”
“What about you?” Jensen asked.
“Hmm?”
“Have you, uh… have you ever had your heart broken?”
You stiffened in his hold and took a deep breath, “Once.”
“Really?” he probed. “Who was it? Was it Tyler?”
You snorted, “Tyler was in tenth grade, dude.”
“I know, but still. I’ll kick his ass. Or whoever it was.”
A nervous bubble caught in your throat. He didn’t know, and he shouldn’t. “It doesn’t matter. It’s in the past.”
“Well, again. They’re an idiot, whoever they are. Besides, you’ll always have me.”
You gave him a small smile, hoping to hide the pain that the memories brought with them.
Jensen draped his arm across your shoulders, allowing you to rest your head on his shoulder as you shook off the emotions from so long ago.
You continued, “He, um… he asked me about you, right before we had lunch. I don’t think he liked how close we are.”
Jensen pulled back a bit, an unreadable expression on his face, but you were quick to grab his hand and tug him back towards you, lacing your fingers with his, “but, I don’t care. I don’t want to be with anyone who can’t respect this friendship. We’ve been through everything together.”
With that, he smiled and squeezed your hand, bending his elbow so that you were almost in a headlock and he could plant his lips to your forehead. He lingered for a moment as you both sat, tangled in each other’s arms. He released your hand and ran his soothingly along your side before getting up to stir the chili.
It was true. You didn’t care who came along, Jensen would always be your best friend.
The two of you ate seated on your oversized sofa and watched Elf, a favorite of yours and Jensen’s, even if he wouldn’t admit it. Jensen was right – it wasn’t your mom’s chili, but it was damn good. Grabbing the last spoonful, you couldn’t help the moan that escaped as it landed on your tongue. Jensen’s eyes snapped to you, the sound making something within him stir.
Dropping the spoon in your bowl, you set it on the coffee table and leaned back, satisfied.
“That was amazing, dude. Remind me to tell you to cook more often.”
He laughed, grabbing your bowl and his and setting to work at the sink to load the dishwasher. You got up to help, but he snapped his fingers, making you sit back down with a grin.
“So, how was your meeting with Stacy today?”
He wiped his hands on the dish towel that hung on his shoulder after cutting of the sink, “Oh, uh…” he paused, looking down and busying himself with starting the dishwasher. “She brought me a script. It’s a different character, to say the least. A single dad who meets a small-town woman when he moves to a new place with his kids.”
“That’s interesting. What’d you think of it?”
“She’s going to send in my stuff, and we’ll see how that goes. I wouldn’t mind getting it… could be pretty cool.” He shrugged casually, but something in his expression told you he really wanted it. “It’s a really competitive part, though. A lot of interest, so she wants me to keep up my image.”
He returned to join you on the couch with a fresh beer, casually draping his legs across your lap as you asked, “What does that mean? You’ve got a good image. You’re not scandalous or anything.”
“Yeah, but I’m a ‘bachelor’.” He replied, using air quotes to indicate that Stacy used that term specifically. “She thinks I’d have a better shot at the part if I were in a relationship or something. Even threw around the idea of just finding someone to help me out for a bit so I could look like a committed man.” He huffed out a laugh at the ridiculous request.
You’d heard of some of the lengths agents would go through, but you could never imagine being asked to do something like that, even from your own. “You mean, like… a fake girlfriend?”
Leaning his back against the armrest, he stretched out as you scooted closer, with his knees coming to rest over your thighs and his legs extended as you both got comfortable. “Apparently, but I told her it was a bad idea. I wouldn’t feel right finding some random girl and selling a rouse.”
You nodded, your hands casually laying over his strong thighs, “That doesn’t sound like you, so yeah… I get how that could be hard.”
He sighed heavily before sipping his beer once more. Gruffly, he seemingly put the issue to bed for the time being, “Yeah, well you know how it is. If I get it, cool. If not, oh well. I’ll just keep up my appearances. Besides, I get to go to work with you every day now. Wouldn’t want to change that, right?” he nudged you with his foot, grinning at you.
Jensen had encouraged you to apply for a position on the show in season two and you were lucky enough to be considered. He’d been so excited that he’d flown you up from your shared hometown. Prior to that, you hadn’t seen him much since he moved to L.A. shortly after you’d both turned 18. The haunting memory of him driving away crept up as you studied his face, looking very much like the boy you’d always known but also the man he’d grown into. It’s in the past, you thought to yourself as you quelled the small amount of lingering feelings of that day.
You simply smiled back, finding yourself a bit lost in thought.
“Hey.” Jensen said, grabbing your attention. “You okay?”
“Oh, yeah. Just thinking.”
“About the Stephen thing?”
You realized in that moment that you hadn’t thought about Stephen since Jensen started cooking dinner. He’d done a great job of distracting you, but you also didn’t want him to know what you were thinking about. “Actually, no. I think you helped out a bit with that.”
A proud expression donned his features as he puffed his chest, obviously pleased that he completed his mission successfully. You chatted a bit more until you grabbed your tablet to do a bit of shopping and you both fell into a comfortable silence. You turned away to hide the item that you’d added to your cart, seeing as it was a little something extra for him. Pleased with the items you’d found for your family back home, and that they’d get to you before your flight in a few weeks, you placed your tablet on the coffee table before snuggling into Jensen’s side, who was enthralled with the animated Rudolph film playing on your TV. He was always a sucker for Christmas movies, though he might not confess that to anyone but you.
The stress of the day began to wear on you, and you soon found yourself drifting off. Between your comfy pajamas and Jensen’s heartbeat in your ear, you fell into a peaceful sleep.
 You awoke the next morning to the sunrise shining faintly through the curtains adorning your living room windows, confused to find yourself in the room. With a sleepy mind, you slowly shifted as you began to stretch your limbs but froze slightly when you met resistance. Eyes widening, still heavy with sleep, you came to find yourself snuggled against Jensen’s chest with the blanket from the back of your couch draped over you both. Your back was towards the cushions as you lay on your side, tucked beneath his shoulder and curled into his body with legs tangled beneath you. He was on his back, his one arm securely wrapped around your shoulders and the other resting on his midsection and your forearm that was enclosed around his trim waist. As gently as you could, afraid he might wake, you tilted your head to gaze at his sleeping form. His face was peaceful as he slept, his mouth slightly open and his chest rising and falling in a soft rhythm.
Content to savor the moment, you allowed yourself to revel in the feeling of being in his arms and nestled a bit further into the blankets, finding the chill of the morning slightly eased from his body heat.
You awoke again a bit later, when the sun had settled high in the sky, roused by something feathering across your cheek.
Jensen’s velvety voice jogged your sleepy mind, “Y/n? You awake?”
His thumb was slowly caressing across the apples of your cheekbones, the touch sending a shockwave through every inch of your body and straight to your chest. When you opened your eyes, he was peering down at you still in his arms with so much emotion behind his eyes that you couldn’t quite read. He smiled warmly, his dimples, freckles, and crinkles all present in the light. He was looking at you with such adoration that it made your heart skip a beat.
“Morning, sweetheart.” Came his usual greeting, but you couldn’t help but shiver at the gruffness and tone, stealing a glance at his lips. “Did you sleep well?”
Tearing your eyes from his face, you stretched slightly, “I did. Very well, actually. You’re a nice pillow.”
He chuckled, his chest rumbling beneath your head, “Yeah, I guess I am. I was gonna move you to bed, but I didn’t want to wake you. And I’ll say, I was quite comfy myself.”
Jensen ran his hands up and down your side and back, almost as if it was second nature to do so, before he moved to sit up. You did so first, giving him the space to swing his legs over the edge of the couch and set to work at the coffee maker. Taking a moment to head to the bathroom and brush your teeth, you smiled finding him with your mug already at the windowsill.
“Thank you.” You said, picking it up and taking a seat across from him.
“Thank you for the sleepover.” He grinned, toasting towards you with his own cup.
After a few moments of chit chat about how happy you both were that the snow had lasted, you made you both breakfast and ate together at your kitchen island.
“So, what are you going to do about Stacy’s idea? Have you given it any more thought?” you asked around a mouthful of bacon.
“Actually, um… yeah. I have.”
You’d be lying if you said you weren’t a little disappointed that it sounded like he was considering her proposition of getting a girlfriend to help his image, but urged him continue none-the-less, “Oh, yeah?”
“I was—I was actually thinking about it this morning. What if—and you can totally say no—but what if you were my pretend girlfriend?” he proposed, looking toward you nervously.
Nearly choking on your breakfast, sure you’d heard him incorrectly, you stared at him in surprise, “Are you serious, Jay?”
“Well, it was just a thought, you know. The fans think I’m with you, anyway, considering they know how close we are and have always been. You’re all over my social media already and I get a ton of comments about you all the time. It would be a cute story, but I totally understand if that’s pushing things too far.”
Still in shock, you hardly registered the sip of coffee you’d taken before putting your mug back on the counter. Your arms and legs felt like Jell-O as he looked at you expectantly.
“Are you sure I’m the type of girl Stacy had in mind? I mean, you’re you ya know. I’m hardly a celebrity or anything and I don’t have a ton of clout. What would the story be?”
He perked up a bit, seemingly please that you were asking more questions. Maybe that meant you were considering it. “It might be good to play the childhood sweetheart angle, but this would only ever happen if you were 100% okay with it. I’d never do anything that would make you uncomfortable in any way. Then, maybe after a few months, we decide to just stay friends. We wouldn’t even need to necessarily announce it to the world or anything but getting people to talk wouldn’t hurt and we just wouldn’t correct the rumors.” He looked into your eyes and took your hand in his, “Y/n, I swear… if it’s too much you can call me crazy and it’ll be no hard feelings whatsoever. No job or role would ever be enough that I’d jeopardize anything with you. It was really just an idea that I had, and it can be shot back out into the abyss and we can forget it ever came up.”
You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth, considering his proposition. It wouldn’t be so hard to fake it for a bit, would it? It’s not like much would change. You were already always together, and yeah, people had been speculating about the two of you for years, especially when you started working on set. “What about our families, Jay? What would we tell them?”
He considered your point for a moment. Both sets of parents had been friends for more than thirty years and would no doubt be aware of the rumors once they started, but again that wasn’t anything new. They’d been answering the same questions about you as a pair since you were kids. “We can tell them we’re together, or not. It would be whatever you choose, but we can always keep things vague for a while. We can even chat with Stacy together and see what would be needed, but it’s all totally up to you.”
Running it through your mind in that moment, it didn’t seem much different than what you and Jensen already were – best friends that everyone, everyone speculated about. Giving Jensen the opportunity to appear he had settled down wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, would it?
With a hint of a smile, you nodded, “Okay.”
“Wait, really?” he said, an obvious shock written across his face.
“Yeah… I mean it’s like you said. Not much would be different anyways, right? We can meet with Stacy, for sure, but it’s alright with me.”
He pulled you in for a tight hug, “You’re seriously the best, sweetheart. Don’t worry, I’m going to treat you like the queen you are for as long as this goes on. You’re gonna get spoiled.”
“Well, then…” you teased, patting his back as he kept you in his arms, “At least I’m getting something out of the deal.”
“Oh, trust me, Y/n. I’ll make sure it’s worth your while.”
Suddenly, you thought maybe this wasn’t the best idea after all, given the way your blood began to rush as he shot you a wink.
To be continued...
