Ramblings of lunatics
Mom: So why are you so tired. I sent you two to bed so early
(Me and my brother at night)
Me: So back on this topic… what is the square root of a helicopter.
~ Brother: OMG I JUST REALISED LACTOSE INTOLERANT PEOPLE CANT HAVE MILK
~ Me: Ok so why did you ask Alexa whats 0 x 23?
Brother: Don’t act like you didn’t just almost do a Mari… i didn’t even do anything
~
Brother: Well i have a fear of death so like what. Do i get rid of it with therapy?
Brother:
Brother: How much does therapy cost?
Alexa: (a lot act like a number is here pls and ty)
Me: OMG WHAT! Oh wait shut up bro healthcare is free here.
~ Me: DUDE WE’RE BACK AT SQUARE ONE ALL THIS EQUATION ID JUST THE SQUAREROOT OF HELICOPTER. WE’RE IN A NEVER ENDKNF CYCLE
Brother: AAAAAAAAA
~
Me, caressing his face: So like yk, ur eye would sell great
Brother: So would your arm
~
Brother: Thank you for leadjng me to light. Ducks are the best we must decimate those who hate.

666?
If the number 666 is considered evil, then technically, 25.8069758022 is the root of all evil.   “Moo hahaha…Moo hahaha”. That’s what an evil cow would say about that joke.  ;0)

Sangaku Saturday #4
In the previous info post, we went over the debate on the religious aspect of sangaku, and the fact that the absence of prayers on these tablets was more puzzling to some than the mathematics. As such, the tablets are not ema prayer tablets, but donations, which usually don't feature prayers on them. Case in point, some consecrated sake and French wine seen at Meiji-jingû in 2016.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beyond wishing for good fortune and health, such donations serve two very worldly purposes: to contribute to the life and prestige of the shrine or temple (having a famous contributor makes the shrine famous by association), and to advertise the donor in return, as their name is on display. See this large torii at Fushimi Inari Taisha paid for by TV Asahi (テレビ朝日).
Tumblr media
With that in mind, Meijizen's cynical comment from 1673 that sangaku aim "to celebrate the mathematical genius of their authors" may not far from the truth. The authors of sangaku are looking to gain notoriety through the publicity that the shrine or temple provides. But was the bemused Meijizen the target audience?
More on that in a couple of weeks. Below the cut is the solution to last week's problem.
Tumblr media
The solution to the first problem (below the cut in this post) is the key. Name K, L and M the intersections of the three circles with the horizontal line. Then, by using that previous result,
Tumblr media
Indeed, as in that problem, we can construct three right triangles, ABH, ACI and BCJ and apply Pythagoras's theorem in each.
Now, it suffices to note that KL = KM + LM, so
Tumblr media
or, dividing by 2*squareroot(pqr), we get the desired result:
Tumblr media
Inverting and squaring this yields the formula for r:
Tumblr media
This gives us the means to construct this figure on paper using a compass and a marked ruler. Having chosen two radii p and q and constructed the two large circles (remember that AB=p+q) and a line tangent to both, placing M and C is done after calculating the lengths IK=CM=r and IC=KM=2*sqrt(pr).

I've been going through my older posts and can see that I was very rude and obnoxious. In addition to autism, I have (had?) some undiagnosed mental issues in the neighborhood of extreme paranoia and aggression on the order of a scared feral cat lashing out because it doesn't know any better. I was raised in an unhealthy environment and not taught proper self-expression. My parents are far-right libertarian types, so having received advice intended to address depression to assert myself, I ended up being aggressive and obnoxious on the order of the fedora-tipping types. I was always attracted to leftism, but my politics were fairly atrocious, an inherently flawed attempt to translate a far-right viewpoint into leftism, interpreting an attempt to build self-esteem through this flawed paradigm. I blundered through leftist tumblr like a bull in a China shop and know I caused some degree of harm to everyone I encountered.
I specifically would like to apologize to @squareroot-1 , @fierceawakening , @smitethestate , @blue-author , and others who I will tag as I think of them.

✨Female Rook.✨
Inspired by @/squareroot.4761 on TikTok, I made rook but a lady!
I needed a test subject to experiment with my new ProCreate brushes. (I would draw the dorm outfit but I’m lazy) 💅

I decided to return to sanders sides and rewatch all of it since I drifted away from it a couple of years ago, and Im struck with how much this series has had an influence over me and how many places I’ve made references to it over the years
Here’s a few I’ve discovered/remembered so far:
- I dressed up as Roman for my last day of ninth grade
- One of my riot accounts is named Squareroot of Scared after the iconic Logan line
- The Yerkes Dodson curve!! This is where I first learned about it, so I knew what a lecturer was talking about when she introduced it a couple years later, I remember being so proud of myself for that one lmao
- One of my dnd characters once got a pet dragon and I named him Wroamin (this one was the biggest punch in the gut when I watched the selflessness vs selfishness video, I had cOMPLETELY forgotten that joke lmao)
There’s probably more, but I just haven’t realised them yet lmao

What Direction is Math?
When learning about [Imaginary Numbers] now called [Lateral Numbers] we learn about [I] and that's about it. Despite having an idea that the implications means theres more.
--EDIT: I more or less figured this out after being explicitly told it by [Welch Labs]@{Tik Tok}.--
In elementary math we know of positive numbers, which means we think of increasing numbers as going forward (or up if you're weird). When negative numbers were invented, this was an odd thought convention. How do you go less than zero? And then we decided to do squareroots and got i=root(-). And so this number is neither forward or backward. It's sideways, what does that mean for anything EXCEPT 2D space?
Nobody is quite sure. Except that we can use it for vector math, or linear math, or 2D+ Math that requires forward back and side to side.
Pedantic readers might say: "Well, Melin, [i] is ACTUALLY sqrt(-1)" And I say; just because 0 is neither positive nor negative, doesn't mean that it can't face a particular direction. In Vector Math, A vector is defined as a direction AND magnitude. Which, I don't like that definition either because it implies it's being applied to a separate radical which is usually just 1, so why bother incorporating magnitude in that regard.
What this means is that [i] may not be a number at all! (And give credence to the "imaginary" term we use) It's instead exactly like our (+/-) sign we put in front of numbers to imply direction. (+,-,+i,-i) It means that [i] is a degree of rotation equivalent to 90°. With [i²] being an about face or [-].
That begs the question... How does one derive a third direction from this?

so if you see gun and goo in the same room and gun went to the kitchen and asked you hey where the canola oil at and you stare at him 5 seconds you enter a domain expansion you cant break free from then god talks to you in an uwu discord kitten voice living in the desert asks you to fly to korea to beat up charles choi and his cousin with a long cock which he uses as a baseball bat and tennis racquet and gun calls you hey im in gangnam and so he sticks his tongue out and and you catch his saliva with your left big toe then he asks you the squareroot of 1 wwyd?
Kms 😁
at this point neither God nor Satan can save you dear anon 👍

dynamite backwards is etimanyd and you know what sounds similar to etimanyd? that's right, eddie mah nyd. what does eddie mah nyd mean? well, nyd backwards is dyn, which sound like dünn. dünn is thin in english. so basically, we have eddie mah thin. and what does that sound like? correct, eddie martin. eddie martin is a boxer, who won 81 matches. 81? sounds similar? 81. 81 like 9^2. so the squareroot of 81 is 9. well, what does that mean? 9-yo children are in 3rd grade. and what did we learn in third grade? that's right. one of the emphasis is on human biology. human? you know who was a human? jesus. why tf did you send me a jesus reference

btw my entire life I've subconsciously anthropomorphized numbers its just kinda how i am. there isn't like a numberline deeplore i just feel numbers have a slightly alive energy when i work with them and some numbers have their own distinct consistent vibe even if i can't explain it. that's where all my ramblings about being a squareroot of 3 girl and whatever come from
