Some pictures from recent studies and working from home. Now I'm done with taking classes for the rest of my phd, but that means it's officially time to start studying for my qualifying exam. My goal was to finish the first draft of my proposal by the end of this month but it's been so hard to make myself work on it for some reason. We'll see what happens.

hello hello i’m gonna keep this short n sweet so no need to pull out the lawn chairs and heat up the bbq alright so my name’s ria and i’m a first year college student from canada who has returned from a long hiatus to focus on my mental health but I’m back and ready to work harder than ever!

few things about me 

• this will be my first full semester despite starting in september

• I graduated back in 2016 & entered university at the 93th percentile whilst receiving 3 awards supplied w scholarships (which sadly went down the drain but made my “first” term less of a burden :////) 

• I used to be a economics major with a specialty in gpe but switched to general science and hope to make it into biochem although my options are pretty open 

• I struggle from depression, anxiety and bpd (so if i ever sound brusque and/or aggressive in my responses that’s why and i’m sorry :///)

• my hobbies when I’m not at school or work is reading, writing, volleyball, track & field and living at the local buffet with my 10 piece honey bbq wings

omg my favorite subject is definitely history (including art history)!! it's really easy for me to see patterns within events especially if they're centuries apart and i love it!! art history is also directly influenced by general history and i hope one day it could be integrated into one subject and teach both simultaneously (for the br!! have an amazing day!)

we are getting to that point in the winter when it has been cold for too long and my ability to function is rapidly decreasing. i need to make things easier for myself by staying organized and breaking tasks into tiny pieces. here are my goals for the next several days.

today: send crispr spreadsheet to marta so she can check my constructs; grind leaf tissue for monday

this weekend: finish next week's homework for experimental design

monday: second practice dna extraction with the new protocol, using the same two samples as last time; choose a method to approach dmr identification

tuesday: start dmr identification; make outline for meeting

wednesday: 9am meeting; continue dmr identification

An Introduction

Hi, my name is Grace and i’m a first year uni student studying MIS and marketing, trying my best to possibly graduate early. 1.What subjects are you currently studying? Currently Elementary Biostatistics I (I don’t like math so I’m like TT)

2.Who would you say is your biggest influence? My family, friends and the studyblr community that motivates me to get on my arse and get some work done!

3.Whats one country you would like to visit? I’ll love to unwind and spend some time off in Australia one day when I’m not too busy with school and daily life in Canada. I wonder what it’s like to be on the opposite end of the hemisphere and to be able to enjoy summer two times a year ;)

4. What’s your favourite book? I haven’t had the time to read lately so it’s a bit hard for me to answer this question at this moment.

5. What do you do to keep yourself motivated? I’ve recently started to squeeze in some workout time once a week at the gym and use my 52 week list that I got from Indigo during my Edmonton layover!

6. What language would you really like to learn? I would love to become fluent in my native language (Arabic) as I came here extremely young and had a few issues with speech development growing up so I was basically speaking English in a non-English speaking household to speak better! Also, I will love to learn Korean, Japanese and Greek. 

7.What holiday do you prefer, Christmas or Halloween? I don’t mind Halloween but Christmas has always held a significant meaning to me because my loved ones are always around to celebrate and the food is always delicious!

8. How old are you? Next month, I will be 18 and a half :D urggghhh I feel like a grandma already 

9. Whats your favourite season? I have always been fond of Spring and Autumn. The reason why I don’t like Summer/Winter as much is because it’s either an extreme hot or cold (especially when it goes from -50 to 40 degrees celsius in my province)

10. Who is your favourite band/singer? I have such a widespread of music that I listen to but my favourite groups are The NBHD, EXO, The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Halsey, BTS (although lately my interest in them has been dwindling a bit :\\\), Blackpink, Troye Sivan and so many more! 

11. Was today a good day? It was extremely productive! I spent nearly 2 hours at the gym today and benched 80 lbs and achieved 100 lbs on dips/curl ups. Also, today is officially my first day that I will not smoke (I am trying to quit once and for all!) and I hope that I will be successful.
