My year is starting to look pretty exciting:

11 April -- Presenting at the spring MondoCon 23-26 April -- Annual Book Festival in Budapest;the anthology book in which one of my papers is published is released 10 May -- Comics Festival in Budapest; I was just asked today to do a presentation 11-12 July -- Presenting at summer MondoCon. We’re also doing a panel to promote that anthology book 22-24 July -- EuPop Conference in Krawków (okay, I haven’t actually sent in my abstract yet, but let’s be hopeful XD) 15-16 August -- Presenting at Budapest Comic Con 27-29 October -- EasPop Comnference, organized and hosted by my popular culture research group

I had my first two con experiences this year and it’s needless to say that they were very different. To my very first Mondocon (2022 Spring) I went without cosplay, and it definitely wasn’t bad this way either, I really enjoyed myself with my best friend and we had a blast, but the number of experiences we were missing out on only made itself clear to me once I cosplayed to the summer Mondocon...

Me and my best friend went as Osamu Dazai and Nakahara Atsushi from Bungou Stray Dogs and the whole day was so awesome! Tons of people came up to us to take pictures and we also had more confidence to ask others as well. I got so much more compliments than I was expecting, and I will definitely not go to conventions without cosplaying ever.

But...during summer the weather was excruciatingly warm, so I was dying in the heat even with my cardigan off. Luckily, I brought deodorant with me, so I managed to make it through the day without smelling sweaty and the rain during the day did help a lot too so all the layers on me became a lot more bearable in the afternoon. On top of that I had to pay close attention to all the details on my cosplay. No stains, tighten the bandages, centre my bolo tie, pull my socks up etc. but I had my friends were there to help with that. And the high heels weren’t as painful as I was expecting.

At the end of the day, going as a character I love was amazing and so much fun that I want to make a habit of going to conventions, and as it happens me, my best friend and her little sister will be attending Mondocon Autumn for both days and I have 2 cosplays in the making, Kazuha from Genshin Impact and Maka from Soul Eater, with so many plans that I am already sorry for my poor wallet.

Wardrobe project

Old project finally posted here :)

I already showed you the “first month” (well, not a real month because it’s dated 03.13 - 05.06... but the first 20 outfits), and I still has all the references to finish an other 20 pack, but I think it will looks better with weekly view in this site x)

It was a practise and an experiment, self knowlage project.

Week 1: last days of winter; finally better weather and a really horrible job interview.

Week 2: Spring AnimeCON/MondoCON and I decided to draw my cosplay too, because this outfit surprisingly fit to my colors. x,DD // I think I have a thing to cosplay red head russians. Firstly Natasha, now Anastasia... x,,,D

Week 3: finally good weather, driving a lot; new DIY painted canvas bag and library card; book selling and that time when I watched Teen Wolf I relaized I dress like Stiles and as long as I love him I don’t want to look like a teenage boy x,,DDDDDDDD So started wearing dresses - oh yeah, and hairdresser. She likes to iron my hair, and as long I love the looks it’s funnily uncomfortable for me. I never get use to it and I just can’t do anything with straight hair. How... how do you do anything with it?! x,,,DD

Week 4: more like an early summer than real spring: family trip, may festival, traveling to visit sis and her graduation. :)

Quarantine Q & A

Are you staying home from work/school?  Yep. My uni closed on 12 March, and switched to distance teaching starting from the following week. BTW, distance teaching sucks.

If you’re staying home, who’s with you?  I came home to my parents who live in the country when the whole thing started. I mostly spend my weekends here anyway (it’s just 1,5 hours from the capitol where I otherwise live), but it’s been 5 weeks+ plus so far, and it’s turning out to be a nightmare, getting on each other’s nerves with my mom especially. On the upside, this place does give me more freedom to move around.

Are you a homebody?  Yes and no. I like staying in, but I also go crazy if I don’t go out and get outside stimuli after a while. And by now ‘Im missing random stuff, like taking the metro.

What movies have you watched recently?  I just watched Trolls World Tour yesterday. I’ve been rewatching some Marvel movies, and also rewatched Crazy Rich Asians and The Physician. Oh, and Beauty and the Beast.

Shows?  I’m trying to keep up with my regular stuff (basically the only way to keep track of the days of the week anymore XD), but I haven’t been (emotionally) able to watch the series finales of Tangled and Modern Family yet. I’ve also been watching a lot of Last Week Tonight and The Big Bang Theory reruns on TV. And I pulled up The White Queen just two days ago--when I’m done with that, I wanna contionue with The White Princess and The Spanish Princess (although I didn’t really like that). I mentioned my mom The Tudors, and she might wanna watch that sometime, I don’t know. Oh, and I watched the second season of Miracle Workers!

An event that was cancelled that you were looking forward to?  Just about everything XD I was supposed to speak at the Spring MondoCon (last weekend). Cancelled. I book I contributed to was supoosed to come at the annual Book Fair (this weekend) cancelled. I was supposed to speak the Budapest Comic Festival (early May). Cancelled. I got accepted to the EuPop Conference in Krakow, which was supposed to be right on my birthday. Cancelled. I’m also scheduled to speak at the Summer MondoCon (second weekend of July), which hasn’t been cancelled yet, but I can feel the shoe dropping, and the first Budapest ComicCon in mid-August--I really have my fingers crossed that this one doesn’t get cancelled. We also made a promise with some of my friends to celebrate all the Wiccan Sabbaths together this year, and we got to do Imbolc, but had to cancel Ostara, and now Beltane is coming up, and... you know the drill.

What music are you listening to?  The regular stuff. Mostly Taylor Swift, showtunes, and Disney songs.

What are you reading?  I have some books that I’ve started, a book on Wicca by Harmony Nice, Time’s Convert, Lady Midnight, but I haven’t actually touched any of them in a week or two. I’m regularly going back to the All Souls trilogy, rereading parts, but my physical copies are stuck in Budapest, so it’s just on my phone/laptop. I should also bee doing some research & read actual academic stuff, but I haven’t gotten around doing that yet.

What are you doing for self care?  I’m not sure anything I do qualifies as self-care at the moment XD I try to go for runs, but it’s been over a week since I last went. I try to keep busy, I’ve finished two 1000 piece puzzles and I’m doing bigger crochet projects. I made inventory of all of my books.
